YSR Telangana party chief Sharmila meets K’taka dyCM Shivakumar

1

Y.S. Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Reddy and YSR Telangana Party President, called on Karnataka Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at his residence in Bengaluru on Monday.

According to Shivakumar’s office, it was just a cordial meeting between the two leaders and did not divulge any details. Shivakumar is a close family friend of Sharmila Reddy since the days of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Rajasekhara Reddy.

Sources said that Sharmila Reddy is keen on forging an alliance with the Congress party in Telangana state and she had spoken to Shivakumar in this regard.

Congress is also looking forward to unite anti-Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) votes ahead the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

Sharmila allegedly slaps woman constable, detained

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Monday allegedly slapped a policewoman when cops tried to detain her outside her house in Hyderabad.

Sharmila allegedly slapped a policewoman and pushed a male police officer outside her residence at Lotus Pond in Jubilee Hills. Police detained and shifted her to Jubilee Hills police station.

Videos of the YSRTP leader arguing with the police personnel and manhandling them went viral on social media.

Though Sharmila slapping a woman constable was completely not visible in the video, the policewoman is seen holding her cheek.

The incident occurred when police prevented Sharmila from leaving her house to meet the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam paper leak case. She wanted to know why she was being kept under house arrest and entered into an argument with the police officers. She sat on the road in front of her house as a mark of protest.

When the police personnel tried to detain her, she resisted their attempt. Subsequently, walking along the road, she vented her anger at the police by shouting at them and even manhandling a couple of them.

Sharmila alleged that there is no democracy in Telangana. She asked if she needed court permission even to speak on people’s issues.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, said that Telangana Chief Minister KCR was afraid of the daughter of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The YSRTP leader said if KCR was sincere, he should order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the paper leak.

Sharmila was arrested several times by the police in recent months for staging protests. On one occasion, police towed away her car with Sharmila sitting inside when she was heading to the chief minister’s residence to stage a protest.

Telangana HC’s conditional nod to YSRTP for hunger strike

0

The Telangana High Court on Friday granted conditional permission to the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) for a day-long hunger strike at Indira Park in Hyderabad on the problems faced by the unemployed.

The hunger strike was scheduled on April 17 under the umbrella of ‘Telangana Students’ Action for Vacancies and Employment’ (T-SAVE), a platform mooted by YSRTP President Y.S. Sharmila but the police had denied permission for the same.

Sharmila had filed a petition in the High Court, seeking direction to the police to allow the protest. The High Court, however, directed that not more than 500 people should participate in the hunger strike.

The organisers were also directed to approach the police 48 hours before their hunger strike.

Sharmila is likely to announce a new date for protest in a day or two.

After the police denied the permission, the YSRTP had lashed out at Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for it calls his atrocious reign and dictatorial treatment of those who raised voice against his failures and fake promises.

Blasting the state government for forcing Hyderabad police to refuse permission to T-SAVE hunger strike, YSRTP official spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao said that it is shameful in a democratic setup to not let activists enter their own party office.

The Political Affairs Committee had alleged that Sharmila is repeatedly being targeted because KCR is now scared of her fight and commitment towards Telangana. “We have been tirelessly fighting for the cause and the rights of the unemployed. Not only is the state government silent and arrogant, they are also depriving us of our right to fight and protest,” he said.

“T-SAVE was proposed as a common platform and we had decided to conduct a hunger strike for a day near Indira Park. This plea was rejected by the city police. Is this fair on the part of the party that claims its emergence and existence to public movements and people’s protests? Didn’t KCR conduct numerous protests at Indira Park earlier? How can the rules be different for BRS and others?” added Ramachandra Rao.

He claimed that the proposed hunger strike had the support of 39 social organisations and various political parties.

KCR destroyed hopes of 50L job aspirants in Telangana: Sharmila

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y.S. Sharmila alleged on Thursday that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has crushed the dreams and careers of the unemployed youth in the state.

Sharmila said that the paper leakage episode in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam is just a tip of the iceberg.

She alleged that the ‘inefficient and autocratic’ government failed to create a single job during its second term, while a paltry 65,000 jobs is what it claimed to have generated during its first term.

“The Chief Minister had promised to fill 80,000 vacancies through notifications, and this was on March 9 last year on the floor of the Assembly. A year has passed by but the notification is limited to 26,000 jobs. Even their fate hangs in the balance after the paper leakage case. In short, more than 10 lakh aspirants have been backstabbed and now it is simply impossible to fill the vacancies, with the election notification set to come into effect in just six months from now,” said Sharmila.

She called it a blatant case of deception and cruelty when the Biswal Committee had put the number of vacancies to be filled at 1.91 lakh.

“Overall, the Chief Minister has destroyed the hopes and careers of over 50 lakh job aspirants in Telangana. In 2015, he had promised to generate 1 lakh jobs but after four years, the figures stood at just 65,000.

“After the creation of new districts, the workforce requirement was pegged at 3 lakh, but nothing has moved in a positive direction except for the cosmetic treatment where administrative buildings were constructed and inaugurated with huge fanfare.

“One fails to understand why KCR (as the Chief Minister is popularly known) is not as committed towards the unemployed children of many hapless parents, as he is about his child for whom he has moved the entire Cabinet and the official machinery to New Delhi,” Sharmila said, referring to the questioning of KCR’s daughter Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

She demanded the BRS government to wake up at least now and initiate immediate action by issuing notification for filling 1.91 lakh vacancies as per the Biswal Committee’s recommendations.

“Not just that, the recruitment process should also be fast-tracked on priority. We also demand the state government to order a CBI inquiry into the TSPSC paper leak case. No one, including ministers and MLAs, should be spared if found guilty. YSRTP on its part will continue to fight relentlessly on this issue, and also stand by the unemployed youth of Telangana,” she added.

Sharmila detained in Hyderabad during protest on Women’s Day

1

Hyderabad Police on Wednesday detained YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S Sharmila when she staged a silent protest against atrocities on women.

Sharmila was leading the protest at the Rani Rudrama Devi statue located on the Tankbund road to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

Talking to media persons, she said that Telangana has turned into a place filled with landmines for women under KCR’s rule. She further said the state now has the dubious record of registering most number of rapes and kidnapping cases against women.

“The state has turned into a fill of land mines for women, planted in the form of crimes and atrocities. One never knows when they explode,” she said.

Sharmila stated that for Chief Minister KCR only his daughter represents women and she has put the women to shame and disgrace by being caught in liquor scam.

Stating that women representation in KCR’s cabinet itself is dismal, she said Kavitha has no moral right to fight in Delhi on women’s representation because her father himself had not kept the word.

The YSRTP leader alleged that the BRS leaders are engaged in crimes against women. She said the constituency being represented by industries minister K. T. Rama Rao witnessed rapes against minors. “Hyderabad sees rapes in broad daylight. Dalit women are assaulted, killed in lockups but KCR won’t say a word. His assurances for women are fake,” she said.

She said even the Governor was not spared and foul language used against her by an MLC made way for his elevation as the government whip in the Legislative Council. “Even I was not spared as a woman and they hurled choicest abuses against me when I exposed their failures,” she said.

Sharmila wanted to know where was the Bharosa app flaunted by KTR? “I checked myself and it’s defunct. The State Women’s Commission is a dummy,” he said.

She called zero interest loans, women business hubs and industrial areas all fake promises. She said that even government schools and colleges have no toilet facilities for girl students.

YS Sharmila apologises and takes back her words on “Hijras”

1

YS Sharmila, an aspiring political leader in the politics of Telangana, today apologised and regretted for her earlier comments on transgender community. Details as follows.

It is known news that YS Sharmila has been firing salvos at the ruling BRS party for quite sometime. Of course, there have been rumours that her party has secret understanding with BJP to split at least some of the minority votes that are presently with BRS party. Recently she made serious comments on BRS leader Shankar Naik and called him as Kozza, a derogatory word in Telugu to refer transgender. She fumed at Shankar Naik as well as BRS party and called them “Kozzas” for not keeping up various promises the BRS party has made before elections.

However, her comments met stiff resistance from transgender community as she referred someone who don’t work as a Hijra. The transgender community staged dharnas in Warangal and other districts of Telangana and demanded an unconditional apology from Sharmila for making such cheap comments. Today she appealed to the transgender community and said her apologies. She also added that she will address various concerns of the Hijra community is facing once she comes into power.

Sharmila to resume padyatra in Telangana on Jan 28

0

After a break of two months, YSR Telangana Party president Y.S. Sharmila will resume her Praja Prasthanam Padyatra on January 28.

Announcing that she would resume the padyatra from the place where it was stopped by the state government last month, she vowed to continue her fight against “KCR rule”. She came down heavily on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly called KCR, for what she called failing the state on every parameter and every front.

Sharmila said KCR was shockingly setting for national politics, while failing Telangana’s aspirations and keeping people in deep distress, for the last nine years.

“It has been only the YSRTP that steadfastly and unconditionally took on KCR and his corrupt and tyrannical government. We never bowed down even when they tried hard to corner us, abusing power and authority. With honesty in our intentions and affection for Telangana, and above all, recalling the people-friendly reign of YSR, we travelled across Telangana and covered 3,500 km, only to be troubled and threatened by KCR, who was now scared of our growing prominence and the manner in which we exposed their local MLAs and MPs,” said Sharmila, daughter of former (undivided) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

“We will continue to battle his inefficient rule marked by failed promises, as we did with Kaleshwaram or Palamuru or unemployment or other issues. The countdown for the end of this corrupt regime has begun,” she said.

On the occasion, she mocked the BRS for their “failed” Khammam show and their dramatics to expand across the country, while failing in the state. “My entry to Paleru has rocked his morale and now he realised that the YSRTP is growing in its popularity and presence in the entire district along with contiguous parts of Nalgonda.”

Sharmila also ruled out early elections to the Telangana Assembly, as she claimed KCR was not ready to take on the anti-incumbency and abandon the much-needed stature as a CM to travel across the country.

She also lashed out at state Congress chief Revanth Reddy and state BJP President Bandi Sanjay for their inefficiency to “effectively expose KCR and his corruption”.

BRS workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28. Later, police arrested Sharmila as she refused to call off the padyatra in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila was later shifted to Hyderabad. The next day, she was arrested again amid high drama while leading a protest march towards the Chief Minister’s official residence. She was driving a car damaged in the attack and wanted to stage a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence. The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The padyatra, however, could not resume as the police had not given the permission.

The YSRTP approached Telangana High Court, which asked asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

Sharmila compares TRS with Taliban

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Thursday compared Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with Taliban.

She said that those working in TRS are like Taliban.

She was talking to reporters after calling on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan here.

Sharmila was arrested by police on Tuesday when she was proceeding to Chief Minister’s official residence in a car damaged in the attack on her convoy by the TRS men in Warangal district the previous day.

The police towed away the car with Sharmila in it to a police station.

The Governor had also expressed her anguish over the manner in which Sharmila was arrested.

While thanking the governor, Sharmila urged the Governor to intervene and seek a report from the Home Ministry, and the office of the DGP.

In the representation submitted to the governor, she alleged that the TRS government has been ‘trampling the hands that are raised in protest, and strangling the voices that scream in hopelessness’.

“In this instance where they went amok against us, it was a clear case of subversion and state-sponsored intrusion into the Padayatra that was going on peacefully,” Sharmila said about the attack on her convoy in Warangal district.

“Our bus was almost gutted and we luckily escaped from being burnt alive. Our party activists were beaten barbarically and the cops did not even accept our complaint, later.

The cops stood mum while this dastardly act went uncontrolled. Shockingly, they detained and arrested me and brought me to Hyderabad, but the attackers were let off, she said.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that when the next day she was proceeding to the chief minister’s residence to show the bus to him, she was stopped and in a barbaric fashion ‘my car was lifted in a crane as I was still sitting inside’.

“During my year-long padayatra, I have been regularly targeted with sexist and derogatory remarks by none other than senior TRS ministers. This reflects the state of affairs in Telangana, under the TRS rule,” she said.

Sharmila told the Governor that she now sees a possible threat to the lives of committed party workers, and continued attacks on her padayatra.

Later, she told reporters that thousands of crores wee being siphoned off in the name of contracts in Telangana.

Sharmila alleged that KCR family is the richest in India. She said Kavitha is involved in Delhi liquor scam. Raids on houses of Kavitha and KTR will yield hundreds of crores, she said.

She slammed TRS for calling her Andhraite. She reminded them that wife of Minister KTR is also from Andhra.

“When you respect his wife, you should also respect me,” she said.

Sharmila recalled that she was born and brought up in Telangana.

“I studied here and married here. My past is here and my future is here,” she added.

YSRTP leader Sharmila gets bail hours after dramatic arrest

0

A city court on Tuesday granted bail to YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila, hours after she was arrested by the police amid high drama while on her way to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Raos official residence in a vehicle damaged in an attack by TRS men in Warangal district the previous day.

The police on Tuesday night produced her and six others before a magistrate, who granted them bail on personal bond.

While the police sought remand of Sharmila, her lawyer argued that the police registered false cases against her though she wanted to stage a peaceful protest along with her supporters. After hearing both sides, the magistrate granted bail to YSRTP leader and others.

This capped the day-long dramatic developments that began with Sharmila along with her supporters heading to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s residence to stage a protest against the attack on her convoy by the ruling party cadres during her ‘Praja Prasthanam’ padayatra.

Dramatic scenes were witnessed on Raj Bhavan road when the police stopped the rally taken out by YSRTP with damaged bus and car. Sharmila, who was driving the damaged car, refused to get down from the vehicle. The police then towed away the car with Sharmila still sitting inside.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was taken to SR Nagar Police Station. There was more drama as she refused to come out of the car. The police personnel forcibly opened the door and lifted her into the police station. The police used force to disperse a group of YSRTP men who had gathered there to protest her arrest.

Sharmila’s mother Vijayamma was placed under house arrest when she was leaving for police station to meet her daughter. Vijayamma then sat on the protest at her Lotus Pond residence.

Sharmila’s husband, Anil Kumar, reached the police station and condemned the ‘highhanded’ behaviour of the police. He said a woman leader raising people’s issues has been arrested and booked under non-bailable sections.

Sharmila and six others were booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 290 (public nuisance), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insulting modesty of woman), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and, 382 (Theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft)

The FIR was registered at Panjagutta police station on a complaint by K. Akhila, a woman sub-inspector.

The other accused were Induja Reddy, Sudha Rani, Md Musharf, Basha, Sanjeev Kumar, Kodem Srinu and others.

Sharmila detained on way to T’gana CM’s residence for protest

0

Police detained YSRTP leader Y.S. Sharmila here on Tuesday as she was heading towards Chief Minister’s official residence in a car damaged in the alleged attack by the TRS supporters in Warangal district on Monday.

The YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader herself was driving the car and proceeding towards Pragathi Bhavan as a mark of protest against the attack by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

When Sharmila along with her supporters reached near the Yashoda Hospital on Raj Bhavan Road, the police stopped them.

The YSRTP workers raised slogans against the ruling party. As they tried to proceed towards the chief minister’s residence, police detained them.

As Sharmila refused to get down from the car, the police toed away the vehicle with Sharmila sitting inside it.

She was shifted to the S.R. Nagar Police Station.

The protest march by YSRTP also included the Yatra bus that was stoned and burnt by the TRS activists on Monday.

Sharmila’s Yatra bus and other vehicles were attacked at Narasmpet in Warangal district when she was visiting the area as part of her Praja Prasthanam Yatra.

The YSRTP alleged that TRS men went on a rampage indiscriminately attacking the padayatra, stoning and burning the bus, unleashing filthy language and tearing down banners and party flags.

The police later arrested Sharmila on the ground that she was continuing the foot march despite their advice to call it off in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila, who is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was brought to Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Monday night, she made it clear that her yatra and the fight against the TRS atrocities would not stop.

Sharmila added that she would not be cowed down by the ‘rowdies and rogues of TRS’ and would march for the sake of four crore Telangana people who stood by her.

In continuation of her protest, she began her march towards the Pragati Bhavan to “seek an explanation from KCR” and “know if this is part of his governance that those who questioned his government’s failures and tyranny had to be attacked and harmed”.

Some party leaders, who also staged a protest at the party’s office in Jubilee Hills, were also arrested by the police.

Sharmila’s arrest, attack on convoy trigger tension

1

Attack on YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y. S. Sharmila’s convoy allegedly by the supporters of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and her subsequent arrest by the police triggered tension during her padyatra in Warangal district on Monday.

Police stopped Sharmila’s padyatra and arrested her and YSRTP leaders and workers accompanying her in Chennaraopeta mandal.

YSRTP cadres tried to resist the arrests and raised slogans against the police and the TRS government. The police used mild force to control the situation.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested after she allegedly made certain objectionable comments about TRS MLA P. Sudershan Reddy.

Sharmila wanted to know from police why were they taking her into custody instead of arresting those who attacked her bus.

YSRTP alleged that the bus which Sharmila is using to rest during her ongoing Praja Prasthanam padayatra was attacked and burnt down by the members of the ruling TRS party.

The mob also damaged cars belonging to YSR Telangana Party leaders. The incident happened near Lingagiri village, under Chennaraopeta mandal in Warangal district.

Sharmila was participating in the padyatra on 223rd day when a group of men chanting pro-TRS slogans and hailing KCR, reached the place where the caravan was halted and torched it.

“For the past 223 days, me and my Party leaders and representatives are holding a peaceful Padayatra to highlight the plight of various sections of people in Telangana. Our rising popularity has jolted Chief Minister KCR and his party men, who want to stop me at any cost,” she said.

Daughter of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that it is highly unfortunate that some police officers are siding with the ruling party and disrupting ‘our efforts to reach the people and raise their issues.’

The Praja Prasthanam padayatra has so far crossed 3,500 kms mark, covering 75 Assembly segments in the State. She has covered 1863 villages under 208 mandals and 61 Municipalities along with 4 Municipal Corporations, so far.

Sharmila’s padyatra in Telagana crosses another milestone

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y. S. Sharmila’s Praja Prasthanam Padyatra has crossed another milestone. The walkathon has crossed 2,500 kms, covering 47 Assembly constituencies and connecting with all sections of the society in Telangana.

For the last 175 days, Sharmila has been on the foot march, interacting with people from various sections of the society to know their problems and targeting the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for its failures on various fronts.

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy is currently in Kamareddy district as part of his ‘Praja Prasthanam Padyatra’. She walks 10-15 kms every day to meet people.

The padayatra is aimed at completing 4,000 kms by the year-end.

Addressing people at Yellareddy, Sharmila vowed to continue her fight and stay connected to the people of Telangana, for whom her party is committed to fight tirelessly.

“It was a marathon exercise and a massive mission that we had embarked on when YSR Telangana Party laid the first step on July 8, 2021, that was the birth anniversary of my father, late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Today, with the spirit and resolve to change the lives of four crore Telangana people, my Padayatra continues, after having crossed 2,500 kilometers,” he said.

“Since the first step, we have been relentlessly connecting with the people of Telangana, whose lives have been battered severely by the draconian rule of TRS, and the vested political interests of the national parties. There is a massive opposition and dissatisfaction against KCR’s autocratic rule, replete with broken promises, callous governance and astronomical proportions of corruption and nepotism,” she said.

The padayatra began in July last year when Sharmila pledged to walk across the length and breadth of the state and lend a voice to the hapless people of Telangana. Since then, Praja Prasthanam passed through several districts covering 47 Assembly constituencies and 140 ‘mandals’ (blocks).

She connected with every section of the Telangana society, in urban and rural areas, through several programmes that included nirahara deekshas. Mata Muchata, Dharna, and public meetings that drew massive crowds.

“While the ruling TRS has utterly failed the state and pushed it into a debt trap of more than Rs 4 lakhs, the prime opposition parties too have faltered when it came to standing by the side of the people and lending them courage and confidence. YSR Telangana Party is the people’s party and is the only party to fill this gap and fight for the people, besides promising to replicate the glorious rule of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, featuring welfare, development, and empowerment of all sections of the people,” Sharmila said.

Conspiracy behind Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s death, am also a target, alleges daughter

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) founder and President Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday alleged a conspiracy behind the death of her father and (undivided) Andhra Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Sharmila, who is on a Telangana padayatra, also made the sensational claim that plans are afoot to kill her also.

Rajasekhar Reddy had lost his life in a helicopter accident in December 2009, a few months after leading the Congress to its second consecutive victory in the Assembly polls.

Addressing media in Mahbubnagar, Sharmila said:” Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s death is the result of a conspiracy and attempts are being made to kill me too. But KCR, Telangana Chief Minister, should remember that I’m YSR’s daughter and fearless.”

Sharmila, is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. She parted ways with her brother in 2021 and set up the YSRT Party as a political alternative for the people of Telangana. Embarking on a padayatra of the state, she had covered 2000-km on foot a week ago.

Wondering why TRS ministers and MLAs are scared when she raises the corruption issue, Sharmila stated that they are running the state in Taliban-style.

Alleging that Telangana Police are arresting anyone who questions failures of the TRS government, Sharmila said the police department might as well be merged in the ruling TRS party.

YSR Telangana Party celebrates registration by EC

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) led by Y.S. Sharmila on Thursday celebrated as the Election Commission registered it as a political party.

The party cadres participated in the celebrations held at the party office and residence of tge founder Sharmila in posh Jubilee Hills here.

Amid the playing of loud music and drum beats, several workers were seen dancing. There were also fireworks on the occasion.

Earlier, Sharmila cut a cake to celebrate the occasion along with her mother Y.S. Vijayamma, husband Anil Kumar and some key party leaders.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, thanked the Election Commission for recognising the party. She said her party would continue to work in a democratic manner to serve the people.

She tweeted that despite all the odds, the YSRTP will work for the people and will remain amidst people. She vowed the follow the path of her late father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh.

The Election Commission has registered YSR Telangana Party as a political party under the Representation of the People Act.

Meanwhile, Sharmila voiced concern over the continuing suicides of farmers in Telangana and slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for doing nothing to prevent these. The YSRTP leader alleged that seven farmers have committed suicides in the state during the last two days due to debts.

She said KCR was talking of ‘Bangaru (golden) Bharat’ but has no concern for the farmers of Telangana who are ending their lives due to debt and other problems created by the wrong policies of the state government.

Sharmila was referring to the slogan given by Telangana Rashtra Samthi (TRS) chief, who is leading efforts to form a national front against BJP.

Sharmila floated YSRTP on July 8 last year and announced the party will strive to bring ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ in Telangana.

‘Rajanna Rajyam’ is an euphemism for the rule of Rajasekhara Reddy, who launched several pro-poor and welfare schemes when he was the Chief Minister of combined state between 2004 and 2009.

Sharmila was earlier active in YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) floated in 2011 by her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy after resigning from the Congress party.

She admitted political differences with Jagan Mohan Reddy, who opposed her entry into Telangana politics.

Why YS Sharmila should thank Omicron scare?

0

Who is feeling very happy at the rise in Omicron cases in the country? If anyone is the happiest, it should be YSRTP chief YS Sharmila. Her yatra is turning out to be a dud with no response whatsoever from the general public. The media coverage too is dwindling by each passing day. She is finding that the narrative she has taken up is out of sync with the issues on the ground. So, the rise in Omicron cases has turned out to be a great alibi to put her padayatra in the cold storage.

With predictions that the Omicron could reach its peak in February or March, it is unlikely that Sharmila will take up any outreach programmes such as padayatra or rallies. This period will also help her to regroup her cadre and plan something substantial. She is said to be upset with her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who she feels is preventing key people in Telangana from joining her party.

Meanwhile, Omicron scare has also put cold water on the spate of agitational programmes that other Opposition parties had planned in Telangana. The BJP has postponed the second phase of the padayatra due to the Omicron issue. Similarly, the Congress Party’s Rachabanda protest programme too could be deferred.

Even the TRS seems to have been affected by the Omicron spread. The party planned massive agitations on the paddy procurement issues. Similarly, KCR wanted to tour several district headquarters to inaugurate the newly-constructed collectorate complexes in several places. However, the party is waiting for the inauspicious period to end. In all probability, any outreach programme is possible only by February-end or the first week of March.

YS Sharmila to rebegin yatra from December 17

0

YS Sharmila is all set to re-launch her Praja Prasthanam from December 17. YSR Telangana Party sources say that the yatra, which was temporarily halted due to the election code in Telangana due to the local body MLA elections, is planning to restart her yatra. The election code would be in force till December 14, the day when the results would be declared.

The yatra was given a temporary recess on November 11 in Kondapakagudem village of Narketpalli mandal of Nalgonda district. The Yatra began on October 20 from

Chevella, went on for 21 days and covered 238 km . It has so far touched 150 villages in six Lok Sabha constituencies. YSRTP sources said that the yatra would re-begin from the ame village.

Analysts say that the YSRTP has found that the response to the yatra was gradually dwindling and crowds had to be mobilised to ensure that yatra had decent gatherings. There were several instances where the crowds agitated over non-payment of their daily wages. This led to ugly situation and the party was waiting for an opportunity to give a temporary halt.

Party’s padayatra coordinator Chandrahasan Reddy said that YS Sharmila would launch a massive people’s movement on the issue of paddy procurement. He said that the party would wage a relentless battle on the issue and would not rest till the last grain of paddy was procured by the government.

Evangelist’s wife Sharmila to walk her way to Chilkuru temple

1

Politics make politicians do strange things. And YSRTP chief YS Sharmila is no exception. YS Shamila, who is known to have been quite active in Christian evangelization activities along with her husband Bro Anil Kumar, is making a padayatra on Sunday to – hold your breath – to Chilkuru Balaji temple. A host of YSRTP leaders too will accompany her. This is being seen as a preparatory for her Padayatra across Telangana.

The Padayatra, which was to start from October 18, is now deferred to October 20. Like her father YSR, Sharmila too will begin the padayatra from Chevella. In fact, she herself undertook a 3112-km padayatra in 2012 for her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Chevella. This time around, she wants to break her own record and trek for a longer distance. She would hold a preparatory meeting for the yatra on October 18 with senior party functionaries and advisors.

As part of the yatra, Sharmila will unfurl the party flag at every village that visits. Also, the party workers would install the statue of the late YSR in all important centres. Sources said that Sharmila has appointed a special coordinator for the purpose. At all places, awareness meetings would be held to popularize the party and its core ideology.

The Yatra is coming at a time, when several key party leaders have left the party and Sharmila’s Tuesday protest fasts over the issue of unemployment in Telangana are evoking lukewarm responses. The party recruitment too has dwindled after an initial flush. Sharmila and her supporters hope that the yatra would boost their fortunes in Telangana state.

Sharmila discusses YSRTP strategy with team PK

1

In a politically significant development, the Prashant Kishor team on Wednesday called on YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y.S. Sharmila.

The team met Sharmila at her Lotus Pond residence here and they are believed to have discussed the strategy to strengthen and expand the party.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is understood to have discussed with the team the plans for her upcoming ‘padyatra’, route map and future course of action.

The meeting set off speculations that political strategist Prashant Kishor has joined hands with Sharmila to prepare its strategy.

Prashant Kishor and his team had planned and executed the election strategy of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, and it had stormed to power by winning 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly.

Sharmila, who floated the YSRTP in July, recently announced that she will undertake the ‘padyatra’ from October 20.

YSRTP leaders have also announced that the party will organise a public meeting for self-respect of backward classes at Kosagi in Kodangal constituency on October 3.

Sharmila’s meeting with the PK team also assumes significance in view of the next month’s bye-election to Huzurabad Assembly constituency. It came a day after the Election Commission announced the election schedule.

In order to highlight the issue of unemployment, the YSRTP has decided to field unemployed individuals in October 30 bye-elections. The party has constituted a committee to file several nominations on behalf of unemployed.

Stating that there is no permission for the fast, police shifted her to the Medipalli police station.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had launched the fast at Boduppal exhibition grounds in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Sharmila raised objections to the police action, asking why she was being arrested despite staging a peaceful protest. Police officers told her that there was no permission for the protest.

YSRTP workers tried to resist the arrest and raised slogan against the police and the government, leading to tension in the area.

Women police personnel forcibly lifted Sharmila and shifted to a waiting police vehicle.

YSRTP leaders and workers reached Medipalli police station and sat on the road demanding Sharmila’s release. Police then shifted her to another police station.

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was afraid of her as she was “exposing its failures”. She blamed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for suicide of scores of unemployed youth.

Before reaching Boduppal exhibition grouns, Sharmila called on the family of Ravindra, an unemployed man who recently committed suicide.

Meanwhile, some women labourers at Peerzadiguda staged a protest, alleging that YSRTP workers had brought them to participate in the hunger strike by promising to pay Rs 400 each. The daily wage labourers said they were not paid the money.

Every Tuesday, Sharmila is sitting on fast after consoling the family of unemployed who committed suicide.

She is demanding the government take immediate steps to fill 1.90 lakh vacancies in various government department. She said the government need to recruit over 3 lakh people to fill the vacancies and the posts created with the formation of new districts.

Sharmila to launch ‘padyatra’ in Telangana on Oct 20

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila announced on Monday that she will be launching her ‘padyatra’ from October 20.

She plans to cover all Assembly constituencies except those coming under the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be launching the walkathon titled ‘Praja Prasthanam’ from Chevella and it will also conclude there.

YSR, as the late Chief Minister was popularly known, had launched his famous padyatra from the same place and with the same title in 2003. The padyatra in then undivided Andhra Pradesh had catapulted the YSR-led Congress to power, ending the nearly a decade-long rule of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) headed by Chandrababu Naidu.

Sharmila, who floated the YSRTP on YSR’s birth anniversary on July 8, announced that she will be covering 12 to 15 km every day.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said YSR will be the brand ambassador of her walkathon. “I am undertaking this padyatra to achieve the ideals of the great leader,” she said.

The YSRTP founder said she would highlight the failures of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government.

She also announced that her weekly fast over the issue of unemployment will continue as part of the ‘padyatra’.

Sharmila has been staging a fast every Tuesday after consoling the family of an unemployed who committed suicide. She vowed to continue the weekly fast till the problem of unemployed was addressed.

She reiterated that she wants to bring back ‘Rajanna rajyam’ in Telangana.

‘Rajanna rajyam’ is referred to the rule of YSR (2004-2009) during which he implemented many revolutionary schemes for welfare of poor and the weaker sections of the society.

Sharmila alleged that during seven-year-rule of K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Telangana, 7,000 farmers have committed suicide and KCR went back on his promise to waive farm loans. She claimed that the TRS government headed by KCR waived loans of only 3,000 farmers were waived while 30 lakh farmers were betrayed.

According to a YSRTP leader, a survey shows that 91 per cent of Telangana farmers have loans of at least Rs 1.5 lakh each.
