Telangana police stop state BJP Chief ahead of ‘padayatra’

1

The Telangana Police has stopped state BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar when he was proceeding towards Bhainsa town to launch the fifth phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ from Monday.

After denying permission for the yatra and the public meeting in Bhainsa town of Nirmal district, police stopped Bandi Sanjay and other leaders and party workers accompanying him and sent them back.

The convoy of Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, was forced to stop near Tatipalli in Jagtiyal mandal. The police asked him to return citing lack of permission for the padyatra.

The BJP leader took strong objection to the police action. He evaded police and left in a vehicle of a party worker. The police then stopped him near Venkatapur in Korutla mandal. Agitated over this, Sanjay and his supporters staged a protest by squatting on the road.

Police detained the BJP leader and sent him back to Jagtiyal. He claimed that police initially granted permission but after all arrangements were made withdrew the same.

“They are saying Bhaina is a sensitive place. Is Bhainsa some prohibited area,” Sanjay asked.

Communally sensitive Bhainsa had seen communal riots on few occasions in the past and the police have the apprehension that the padyatra may disturb public order.

The state BJP Chief said he was returning to Karimnagar at the request of the police and would wait till Monday afternoon. He vowed to go ahead with the padyatra.

The BJP is said to be planning to approach the Telangana High Court on Monday to challenge the police order disallowing the padyatra.

The saffron party has condemned the police action against Bandi Sanjay. Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao said the action reflects the autocratic rule in the state.

The fifth phase of padyatra was scheduled to start from Bhainsa. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was invited to address the public meeting to mark the beginning of the padyatra.

The fifth phase of the walkathon is scheduled for 20 days. As per the schedule announced by the party, it will culminate at Karimnagar on December 17.

Telangana BJP president arrested on way to Munugode

1

Telangana state BJP president Bandi Sanjay was detained by police on the outskirts of Hyderabad early Thursday, when he was heading to Munugode Assembly constituency where polling began this morning.

Alleging that non-local leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were continuing to stay in the constituency even after campaigning ended on Tuesday, he, along with his supporters, tried to proceed towards the constituency in Nalgonda district this morning.

There was high drama after Sanjay and other BJP leaders left the party office in Hyderabad. Despite the attempts by police to stop them at Malakpet and Vanasthalipuram, they moved ahead.

The police finally stopped his convoy of vehicles on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway at Abdullapurmet. There was an argument between BJP leaders and police officers.

Tension prevailed as BJP leaders resisted police attempts to arrest them. Raising slogans against the government, Sanjay and others sat on the road. The police finally arrested Sanjay and shifted him to Abdullapurmet police station.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, alleged that election authorities and police were not taking any action against TRS leaders who remained in Munugode on the polling day.

BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy also staged a protest in Munugode late Wednesday night demanding the police to send out all non-local TRS leaders. He, along with his supporters, staged a sit-in in front of the office of the returning officer. He also alleged that the election officials were taking no action against TRS leaders who are intimidating voters.

The BJP candidate later staged a protest at Chandur police station. He called off the protest after police officers gave an assurance that they will look into his complaint.

Telangana BJP chief embarks on fourth phase of padayatra

1

BJP’s Telangana unit chief Bandi Sanjay said on Monday that his ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ would continue irrespective of whether the police give permission for it.

Sanjay launched the fourth phase of his ‘padayatra’ at Quthbullapur near Hyderabad after offering prayers at the Chittaramma temple along with BJP national General Secretary Sunil Bansal, the party’s in-charge for Telangana.

Addressing the inaugural public meeting, Sanjay said he would not stop his padayatra despite the obstacles being created by the state government as his march enjoys full support of the people.

Describing Qutubullapur as ‘Mini India’, he said people here are facing problems due to the inefficient governance of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He also alleged that Chief Minister KCR’s family is demanding share in the industries and as a result industries ate shifting to other states.

Sanjay said by constructing a few flyovers, the government is claiming development in Hyderabad, but even light rains result in overflowing of drains in the city.

The BJP leader reacted strongly to KCR’s allegation that the BJP government at the Centre wants to install meters to agricultural pump sets through the Electricity Amendment Act.

He threw a challenge that if the Bill talks of installing meters, he would resign.

“If KCR fails to prove his claim, he should resign,” he said.

Sanjay alleged that the CM’s official residence turns into a ‘bar’ every night, adding that it is used only as a ‘bar’ and not as ‘Praja Durbar’.

The fourth phase of the padyatra will cover eight Assembly constituencies in 10 days during which Sanjay plans to walk 115 km.

The fourth phase will cover Qutubullapur, Kukatpally, Secunderabad Cantonment, Malkajgiri, Medchal, Uppal, LB Nagar and Ibrahimpatnam Assembly constituencies.

During this phase, Sanjay would focus on civic issues. The non-allocation of Rajiv Swagruha houses which have been lying vacant, 2BHK houses not being constructed, damaged roads, traffic congestion, encroachment of lakes and pollution will be among the issues to be raised by the BJP leader.

In the three phases of his padayatra, Sanjay had walked through 40 Assembly constituencies. He had interacted with the people and enquired about the problems faced by them.

Earlier, Praja Sangrama Yatra pramukh G. Manohar Reddy said they applied for permission to all three police commissionerates (Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda), but did not receive the permission. He said they would go ahead with the padayatra as scheduled as they believe that the permission is deemed to have been given.

Manohar Reddy said that if the state government tries to create any hurdles, they will approach the high court as they did during the third phase.

Telangana BJP chief to launch 4th phase of padyatra next week

1

Aiming to keep up pressure on the TRS government, Telangana state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar will launch the fourth phase of his Praja Sangrama Yatra next week.

Sanjay will start the padyatra from Quthbullapur near Hyderabad on September 12. The walkathon will end at Pedda Amberpet, Ibrahimpatnam, on September 22.

The 10-day padayatra will see him move around nine Assembly constituencies to an extent of 115.3 km around the state capital. According to the schedule announced by the party, he will take a break on September 17 to participate in the Telangana Liberation Day public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, which is scheduled to be addressed by union home minister Amit Shah.

Sanjay, who is also a member of Parliament, will cover Quthbullapur, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Secunderabad Cantonment, Malkajgiri, Medchal, Uppal and L.B. Nagar constituencies during the fourth phase.

The third phase of the padyatra had concluded at Hanamkonda on September 27 and the public meeting to mark the occasion was addressed by BJP national president J.P. Nadda.

The third phase saw tension and clashes between TRS and BJP supporters at few places visited by the BJP leader. He was arrested in Jangaon district on August 23 when he was trying to sit on a protest over the arrest of party workers during a sit-in near the residence of TRS legislator K. Kavitha in Hyderabad.

The police had shifted Sanjay to Karimnagar, where he was kept under house arrest. The police in Jangaon district had asked the BJP leader to stop his padyatra as there was no permission granted for the same and there was apprehension of breach of peace.

Police had stated in the notice that in the name of padyatra the BJP leaders were making provocative statements.

However, the BJP moved the Telangana High Court, which allowed it to continue the padyatra.

In the third phase of the padyatra, launched on August 2, Sanjay covered 325 kms in five districts – Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Jangaon, Hanamkonda and Warangal

Sanjay had launched the padyatra in August last year as a public outreach programme to highlight what he calls the failures of TRS government and what BJP would do if voted to power in the elections scheduled next year.

He started the first phase of the yatra from Bhagya Lakshmi temple at the Charminar. He covered 438 kilometres in 36 days and addressed 35 public meetings. In the second phase, he covered 380 kilometres.

Sanjay completed the second phase of the yatra that had started from Jogulamba Shakti Peetam temple in Alampur, Gadwal on April 14.

On May 13, union home minister Amit Shah had addressed the concluding meeting of the second phase at Tukkuguda near Hyderabad.

BJP leaders said following good public response to the padyatra, Sanjay decided to launch the third phase from next week. Like in the previous phases, national leaders of the party and central ministers will address the public meetings.

Sanjay plans to cover all Assembly constituencies before the Assembly elections. After winning two Assembly by-elections during the last two years, the saffron party is projecting itself as the viable alternative to TRS. The BJP leaders see a realistic chance of coming to power in the state.

BJP slams KCR for not calling on victims of botched-up FP surgery

1

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay on Wednesday slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for visiting Bihar for politics instead of consoling families of four women who lost their lives in a botched-up family planning surgery in Ranga Reddy district.

Blaming the state government for the deaths, he demanded dismissal of Health Minister T. Harish Rao.

The four women died due to complications after undergoing Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL).

They underwent the procedure at the female sterilisation camp conducted on August 25 at a Civil Hospital in Ibrahimpatnam.

They complained of acute gastroenteritis and died while undergoing treatment. Two deaths were reported on Tuesday, taking the death toll to four.

After calling on some of the affected women undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Sanjay Kumar alleged that 34 women were operated on in one hour at the camp to create a record.

The BJP leader alleged that the authorities did not conduct even basic tests before the surgery. He slammed the Chief Minister and Health Minister for not calling on the victims.

“Instead of calling on the victims, the Chief Minister has gone to Bihar for politics,” he said.

The BJP leader said since Harish Rao is the Chief Minister’s nephew, he was not dismissed.

“KCR sacks only those ministers who do not belong to his family,” he said.

He demanded that the government pay Rs 1 crore compensation each to the families of the deceased, adding they should also provide a job and a two-bedroom house to the families.

In coming polls TRS and KCR will be wiped out: Nadda on arrest of Telangana BJP president

1

BJP chief J. P. Nadda on Tuesday condemned the arrest of party Telangana unit president and Lok Sabha member Bandi Sanjay Kumar and said that they will fight democratically and ensure that in the coming elections Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) will be wiped out.

Telangana BJP president Kumar was arrested on Tuesday and his attempts to sit in protest against attack on party workers were thwarted by the police.

In a series of tweets Nadda said: “I strongly condemn the illegal arrest of our @bjp4Telangana State President @bandisanjay_bjp by TRS Gov. KCR is worried seeing the massive support that BJP is receiving from all corners of the state against his corrupt & family centric regime.”

“We will fight democratically and ensure that in the coming elections TRS & KCR will be wiped out,” Nadda added.

Kumar was arrested ahead of his proposed sit-in protest in Jangaon district, against the previous day’s police action on his party workers.

After BJP activists stepped in to prevent police from arresting Kumar this morning, the situation turned tense. However, police deployed in large numbers managed to take the BJP leader away even as his supporters tried to block the path at several points on the route.

The BJP in Telangana has been targetting TRS leadership and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Kavita over her alleged involvement in the liquor policy controversy that has engulfed the AAP government in Delhi.

On Monday, police had booked several BJP workers under various sections after they had staged a protest outside Kavita’s house over the issue.

Earlier in the morning in a series of tweets, Kumar said: “Strongly condemn TS police registering a case of attempted murder against BJP leaders who were protesting at the house of CM KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanding an answer to the allegations in the liquor scam. There is clear evidence that TRS goons have attacked BJP workers.”

“Democracy allows to protest, but case of attempt to murder against BJP leaders was done based on instruction of Chief Minister’s office. Keeping seriously injured leaders and activists in the police station without even providing treatment to the police is the worst.”

Kumar demanded that the injured BJP leaders be taken to hospital immediately and given better medical treatment.”BJP doesn’t fear police cases and attacks by TRS goons. The truth on the liquor scam should be exposed. Strict action should be taken no matter who the culprits are,” Kumar said.

He announced that the party will take up agitation across the state in protest of the attack by the police and TRS goons on BJP workers.

Telangana BJP chief defends carrying Amit Shah’s footwear

1

Calling Union Home Minister Amit Shah his ‘guru’, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday defended carrying his footwear during a programme here.

Facing criticism from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Congress party, Sanjay said there was nothing wrong in what he did as giving footwear to elders out of respect for them is part of Indian traditions.

He slammed TRS and Congress leaders for calling his action “slavery”.

The BJP leader took to Twitter to defend his action after the leaders of TRS and Congress trolled him.

The video clips showing Sanjay carrying footwear of Amit Shah during his visit to a temple in Secunderabad went viral.

The MP picked up Shah’s shoes and kept them aside when the union home minister arrived at Ujjaini Mahankali temple.

When Shah came out of the temple after prayers, Sanjay was once again seen rushing to fetch his shoes.

Sanjay said that since Amit Shah is ‘our family elder and guru and I am younger to him, I carried his footwear’.

The BJP leader reacted sharply to the criticism from TRS and alleged that the family of Chief Minister KCR has the habit of touching one’s feet when required and later pulling the rug from under the same feet.

Earlier, leaders of TRS and Congress party branded Sanjay a ‘slave’ of Delhi and Gujarat leaders and called for safeguarding the self-respect of Telangana.

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao tweeted that people of Telangana are watching ‘Gujarati slaves who carry Delhi shoes and also the leader who is fight against the Delhi leaders.’

Rama Rao, who is a state minister and son of Chief Minister KCR, stated that all sections of Telangana society are ready to reject those who insulted Telangana self-respect and to protect Telangana’s self-esteem.

Telangana BJP chief trolled for ‘carrying’ Amit Shah’s shoes

1

A video of Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay rushing to fetch footwear of union Home Minister Amit Shah went viral on social media on Monday.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, is seen carrying the footwear and keeping it in front of Amit Shah when the latter came out of Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad on Sunday.

Leaders of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Congress party branded Sanjay a ‘slave’ of Delhi and Gujarat leaders and called for safeguarding the self-respect of Telangana.

TRS leaders brutally trolled Sanjay, who often accuses TRS leaders of being slave to Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

TRS working president K. T. Rama Rao tweeted that people of Telangana are watching ‘Gujarati slaves who carry Delhi shoes and also the leader who is fighting against the Delhi leaders.’

Rama Rao, who is a state minister and son of Chief Minister KCR, stated that all sections of society are ready to reject those who insulted Telangana’s self-respect and to protect Telangana’s self-esteem.

“The speed and focus in bringing slippers shows tomorrow BJP will keep our state at the feet of Amit Shah… Beware Telangana,” tweeted another TRS leader M. Krishank.

Leaders of Congress also lashed out at Bandi Sanjay for ‘slavery’. AICC in charge for Telangana Manickam Tagore posted the video with the comment ‘Telugu self-respect’. “What’s the position of the Backward class leader in BJP see the truth,” he wrote.

“Bandi kept the Telugu self-respect at the feet of a former tadi paar,” reads a tweet from TPCC’s official handle.

Congress leader Addanki Dayakar also slammed Bandi Sanjay saying that the state BJP chief has denigrated Telangana society.

Amit Shah on Sunday visited Telangana. After offering prayers at Secunderabad temple, he addressed a public meeting in Munugode Assembly constituency to formally launch BJP’s campaign for by-election.

12 TRS MLAs ready to join BJP, claims T’gana BJP chief

1

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday claimed that 12 MLAs from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are ready to join the saffron party.

He predicted that there will be a series of by-elections in Telangana soon.

He told reporters at Bhongir that like Munugode, many Assembly constituencies will see the by-elections.

He was referring to the recent resignation of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from the Congress party. The MLA also announced that he will also resign from the Assembly.

Rajagopal Reddy has already dropped hints that he will join the BJP and seek re-election.

Bandi Sanjay claimed that some TRS MLAs were preparing to resign from the ruling party as they feel that they will not have any future in the TRS government. “There are strong anti-incumbency sentiments among the people and some TRS MLAs are ready to quit the party,” he said

The state BJP chief claimed that TRS MLAs were coming forward to join the BJP as they had realised there was a groundswell of opposition to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, also claimed that the TRS MLAs will have no option but to quit due to pressure from the people in their respective constituencies.

The BJP state president exuded confidence that whenever elections are held, the BJP will come to power in the state. He claimed that surveys show that the BJP will sweep the polls.

“If elections were to be held today in Telangana, the BJP will win 62 seats with a vote share between 47 and 53 per cent,” he said.

He said the growing public opposition to the TRS government will further consolidate the projected vote share of the BJP.

Sanjay pointed out that the BJP has won two out of four by-elections so far. He said by-elections to Munugode seat will decide the course of the state’s future.

BJP, which had bagged only one seat in 119-member Assembly in 2018, wrested Dubbaka Assembly seat from TRS in the by-election held in 2020. The seat had fallen vacant due to the demise of a sitting legislator of the ruling party.

Last year, the BJP also won the Huzurabad seat. The by-election was caused by the resignation of Eatala Rajender after he was dropped from the state Cabinet by the chief minister following allegations of land encroachment. Rajender later joined the saffron party and won the by-election.

After the two wins, the BJP has gone aggressive to capture power in the state. Bandi Sanjay is currently undertaking the third phase of his ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’.

Telangana BJP chief’s ED threat against KCR triggers war of words

0

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s threat of a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has triggered a fresh war of words between the leaders of BJP and TRS.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao took to Twitter on Friday to react to Sanjay’s statement.

In a sarcastic comment, Rama Rao thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointing Bandi Sanjay Kumar as the chief of the ED. “Now we realise the double engine that runs this country is actually Modi & ED,” wrote the TRS leader.

Sanjay had said on Thursday that Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao will have to face ED. Wondering why the Congress is organising protests against the ED for questioning Sonia Gandhi, he said CM KCR will have to face ED cases sooner or later.

“That is why he is supporting the Congress party’s protests against ED interrogation of Sonia Gandhi,” he said.

The state BJP chief claimed that when there were allegations against Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah they faced all investigations and came out clean.

Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay hit back at K.T. Rama Rao for his comment on Friday. “The signs of fear among robbers especially Twitter Tillu, is at all time high… Yoga is good for people experiencing anxiety… Suggest to inhale and exhale until investigative agencies knock your door,” the BJP leader tweeted.

Bandi Sanjay had said earlier that the central agencies have kept a tab on KCR’s corruption and very soon they would begin inquiry into the properties amassed by him. “That is why KCR, his son and nephew are making a hue and cry, knowing fully well that they would be thrown behind the bars soon,” said Sanjay while referring to the TRS chief’s visit to various states to hold talks with leaders of different parties for forging an anti-BJP alliance.

The BJP state chief had also stated that KCR will soon go to jail.

Hitting back at Sanjay, KCR had dared him to touch him and see what would happen. “What do you think of yourself? You are saying that you would send me to jail. Do it. I dare you to touch me and see what would happen to you,” the TRS chief had stated.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP state president J.P. Nadda, during their recent visits to the state, had come down heavily on the KCR government for corruption.

Nadda described the TRS government as the most corrupt government in the entire country. At a BJP public meeting in Hyderabad on July 3 which was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both Shah and Nadda lashed out at KCR for corruption and diversion of Central funds.

The BJP state president remarked that the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project has become an ATM for KCR. He accused the chief minister of inflating the cost of the project from Rs 32,000 crore to Rs 1.32 lakh crore.

The state’s ruling party, however, dismissed the allegations by citing the statements made by the Central ministers in the Parliament. TRS leaders say several Central ministers, while replying to questions of BJP and Congress MPs, told the Parliament that there was no corruption in projects.

Telangana BJP terms attack on MP act of cowardice

0

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday condemned the attack on party MP D. Arvind by the ruling party TRS and called it an act of cowardice.

The BJP leader said Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders were resorting to physical attacks for questioning the anti-people policies of the government and “dictatorial attitude” of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Arvind’s convoy was attacked on Friday during his visit to a flood-affected village in Jagtiyal district.

When the Lok Sabha member from Nizamabad reached Eradandi village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal, his convoy was stopped by a group of protesters, who also pelted stones.

The MP, whose car was damaged in the attack, blamed TRS for the attack. He alleged that Chief Minister KCR’s daughter Kavitha, whom he had defeated in 2019 elections, has directed her party workers to attack him wherever he goes. He said police were also being used by the ruling party to book false cases against him.

Arvind said he was visiting the village which falls in his constituency to interact with villagers, who have been facing the problem of inundation due to floods in Godavari.

He said since local TRS MLA Vidyasagar Rao was creating hurdles in allotment of house sites to villagers for several years, he was afraid that his visit could expose them and hence the TRS men attacked him at the MLA’s instance.

Arvind had faced similar protests during his visits in the past and he had blamed the ruling party for creating hurdles in his visit.

Sanjay Kumar alleged that due to growing opposition from people, the TRS leaders and their followers were carrying out attacks on the BJP leaders.

He called up on all democratic forces to condemn the misdeeds of the TRS.

He claimed that people were strongly opposing KCR’s rule and the actions of the TRS leaders. Stating that there is no question of BJP being cowed down by such attacks and threats, Sanjay said the countdown for TRS government has already started.

The BJP leader said their party would continue to fight against the anti-people policies of the TRS government.

Sanjay remarked that the time has come when people will revolt against the KCR government. He warned that if such incidents were repeated, the BJP would give a befitting reply.

BJP MLA and former minister Eatala Rajender has also condemned the attack on the party MP.

He alleged that unable to face the BJP in a democratic manner, the ruling party was resorting to physical attacks. He said people were witnessing this attitude of the TRS leaders and the ruling party would definitely face the punishment for this.

Telangana BJP chief stages ‘silent protest’ over Podu lands, Dharani

0

BJP’s Telangana state President Bandi Sanjay on Monday sat on silent protest in Karimnagar, demanding the state government to resolve the issues relating to Podu lands and the Dharani portal.

The BJP leader slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for failing to solve the Podu land issue and for allegedly committing excesses on tribals demanding rights on Podu lands.

He recalled that the Chief Minister had promised to solve the Podu land issue during the 2019 elections. “Whenever there is a problem, he says he will sit and solve but has never solved a single problem,” said Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament from Karimnagar.

Podu lands are the lands tilled by tribals in the forests and the disputes over them have led to clashes between them and the Forest Department.

In the latest incident, eight tribal women and two women forest staff were injured in clashes in Mancherial district on July 8. Forest officials filed cases against seven tribal women.

The Forest Department claimed that it was only trying to stop encroachment of the Kawal Tiger Reserve.

The BJP leader slammed the state government for “using lathis” (batons) against tribals and farmers demanding justice.

Sanjay also demanded that the government take immediate steps to immediately address issues arising out of the Dharani portal.

Alleging that the Dharani portal was brought to grab the lands, he said the portal created a situation where nobody knows where his or her land has gone.

Sanjay alleged that all the people who sold their lands 40 and 50 years ago and left are coming to the villages and attacking the farmers and grabbing their lands.

He also alleged that Dharani portal was brought to transfer lands worth thousands of crores to CM KCR, his family and those close to him.

He claimed that records pertaining to 15 lakh acres are yet to be registered on Dharani portal. “Out of total records registered, 50 per cent are full of errors. Lakhs of people are facing problems,” he said.

He ridiculed KCR’s statement that Dharani portal was brought to check corruption. “KCR talking of corruption is like a devil chanting holy scripture,” he said.

Telangana BJP chief served notice for derogatory skit against KCR

0

Telangana police on Tuesday arrested two more BJP leaders and issued notice to party’s state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar for allegedly insulting Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao by organising a skit.

Rani Rudramma and Daruvu Yellanna were arrested by police, which also issued a notice to Sanjay Kumar.

The state BJP president has been asked to appear before a police officer in connection with the case booked against him.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, has been served notice under Section 41 A of Criminal Procedure Act.

On June 10, the police had arrested BJP leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy. A court had granted him bail the same day.

A case was registered against Bandi Sanjay, Balakrishna Reddy and others at Hayathnagar Police Station under Rachakonda Police Commissionerate for indulging in hate speech and inciting hatred and causing provocation for violence through an event organised by the cultural team of the BJP on Telangana Formation Day (June 2).

On a complaint by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) social media convenor Y Satish Reddy , police booked Balakrishna Reddy, state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay and others under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 114 (abettor present when offence is committed), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 505(2) (statements causing public mischief, promoting enmity) read with 109.

The complainant had alleged that the organisers misused the platform to defame the government schemes with accusation on the Chief Minister and the government with an intention to mislead the people and provoke hatred and unrest.

According to police, under the leadership of Bandi Sanjay and organisers Jitta Balakrishna Reddy and Rani Rudrama organised an event in view of Telangana Formation Day and “misused the dais for performing a skit (hate act)” with the help of BJP cultural team member Boddu Yellanna alias Daruvu Yellanna by insulting a person who is holding a constitutional post being democratically elected by the people of the state.
The skit was telecast on a Telugu TV news channel.

On examining the video, police found that the organisers made derogatory comments, personal attacks depicting the chief minister as boozer, cheater, among others, to lower the image of a person elected by democratic means and holding a constitutional post.

Telangana BJP chief placed under house arrest

0

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay was Friday placed under house arrest here to prevent him from staging a protest at Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) against hike in bus fares.

Sanjay was scheduled to lead a protest by the party at JBS against the imposition of additional diesel cess by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

Policemen were deployed around the house of Sanjay in Banjara Hills to stop him from coming out. However, the police action was in view of the possibility of Sanjay staging a protest at the Director General of Police (DGP) office against the arrest of a party leader Jitta Balakrishna Reddy.

Reddy was arrested in the wee hours of Friday near Hyderabad in connection with a case booked against him for organising a derogatory skit against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Telangana Formation Day (June 2).

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, later reached JBS in Secunderabad. He interacted with bus passengers and enquired about the problems faced by them.

The BJP leader condemned his house arrest. He told reporters that the downfall of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government has started.

The BJP leader said the TRS was acting in an undemocratic manner to stop them from raising their voice against the hike in bus fares. “The government has imposed a burden on the common man by increasing the fares and when we want to protest, the government is resorting to undemocratic means like arrests and house arrests,” he said.

Reacting to the police personnel surrounding his house, the BJP leader said the government failed to arrest rapists and criminals but it was taking action against the opposition party.

He said the TRS government has so far increased the TSRTC bus fares by 60 per cent. He slammed the government for increasing the fares five times in three years. He alleged that this is part of the conspiracy to privatise TSRTC

Bandi Sanjay has more enemies inside than outside

0

Despite all the bravado, BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay is facing problems in his own turf. Despite the full backing from the party’s national leadership, Bandi is unable to roll on in his own district of Karimnagar. Several seniors from Karimnagar, including former MLA Gujjula Ramakrishna Reddy and Polsani Sugunakar Rao, are up in arms against Bandi Sanjay

The Central leadership of the party has clearly indicated that it stood solidly behind Bandi Sanjay, it did not initiate any action against the dissidents from Karimnagar. Even Bandi Sanjay has largely ignored the pinpricks from these leaders. This has emboldened the dissidents, who have now upped their ante.

Senior leader Polsani Sugunakar Rao has formed a team called Sri Rajarajeswara Swamy Temple Protection Struggle Committee and is organising programmes without involving the party. The committee is spearheading protests in the name of this committee. If reports are to be believed, a complaint has already been registered with the Central leadership over the activities of Sugunakar Rao.

The BJP state leadership was forced to announce that the committee has no relation with the party. Despite that, a large number of the BJP cadres attended the protest. Sources say the Central leadership is keenly watching these events in Vemulawada. Interestingly, Bandi Sanjay is planning to contest from Vemulawada assembly seat in 2023.

TRS, Cong two sides of same coin: Telangana BJP chief

0

BJP president in Telangana, Bandi Sanjay on Wednesday alleged that the TRS and the Congress are the two sides of the same coin.

He said their stand was vindicated when Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) jumped to the defence of Congress after Prime Minister Narendra spoke in Parliament about how the Congress deceived the people.

Sanjay, who is a member of Parliament from Karimnagar, ‘congratulated’ Congress for getting a new spokesperson in TRS.

Sanjay was reacting to the attack on Prime Minister by both TRS and Congress for his comments about bifurcation. The two parties alleged that Modi insulted the people of Telangana and demanded his apology.

The TRS staged state-wide protests on Wednesday against the PM’s remarks. Ministers, state legislators and other top leaders led the protests.

However, the state BJP chief said Modi never opposed formation of Telangana state. He alleged that TRS was staging protests to divert people’s attention from real problems in Telangana. aceWhy should TRS have any objection when the Prime Minister was criticizing the Congress party,” he asked.

The BJP leader said it was the TRS which had forgotten the martyrs of Telangana. He asked TRS to tell people as to how many ministers in its Cabinet had participated in the Telangana movement.

Sanjay claimed that BJP leaders from grass root level to Delhi fought for statehood to Telangana. He recalled that it was BJP leader Sushma Swaraj who had supported the cause of Telangana in Parliament and had warned the then UPA government that if it failed to table a bill for formation of Telangana state she would move a private member’s bill.

On the criticism of TRS and Congress over BJP going back on its promise to create Telangana state after coming to power in 1999, Sanjay said since some parties in the NDA were against division of Andhra Pradesh, the government could not create Telangana state.

Will Karimnagar witness KCR vs Bandi Sanjay battle in 2024?

1

Will Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat witness a battle royale in 2024? If sources are to be believed, KCR is now seriously planning to go to the national politics leaving Telangana to his son KTR. With both Stalin and Mamta Banerjee getting active in national politics, Telangana Chief Minister KCR too does not want to miss the bus.

Insiders say that if he forays into national level politics, he would in all probability contest from Karimnagar. In the past, he had contested and won from Karimnagar twice. Hence, he would choose Karimnagar again. If that happens, he would be pitted against BJP state president Bandi Sanjay. It would be a mega battle if it happens.

Sources say that KCR is systematically preparing ground for KTR’s anointment. He is said to be slowly but surely pushing seniors to the margins and is gradually promoting young faces like Balka Suman and Kaushik Reddy. He is also said to be working on the reconstitution of the 67-member state committee of the party and fill it with young faces. The district level committees have all been filled with young leaders.

What will happen in Karimnagar? Will Bandi Sanjay shift to the state assembly or will he take on KCR in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat? As of now, everything is hush-hush in both parties. But, the thinking heads of the party are said to be burning their mid night’s oil to prepare strategies for the showdown if and when it happens.

LS Privileges Committee summons Telangana officials on BJP MP’s complaint

0

Lok Sabha Committee of Privileges has served notices to Telangana chief secretary, home secretary, director general of police and four other police officials in connection with the breach of privileges complaint by BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

The officials have been directed to appear before the panel on February 3 to give oral evidence on a complaint by the Lok Sabha member from Karimnagar.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on January 3 against Karimnagar Police Commissioner V. Satyanarayana and three other police officials of Karimnagar district for ‘forcefully arresting him in an illegal manner and for attempting to produce him before the court for remand in connection with filing of alleges false cases against him’.

Sanjay appeared before the 15-member Privileges Committee on Friday and explained how the police manhandled him. He urged the panel headed by Sunil Kumar Singh to take action against the police officers involved.

The Lok Sabha Committee of Privileges has issued notices to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta, Director General of Police M. Mahendar Reddy, Karimnagar Police Commissioner V. Satyanarayana, ACP Srinivasa Rao, DSP Prakash and inspector Lakshmi Babu.

Sanjay Kumar, who is also the president of BJP’s Telangana unit, was arrested by police in Karimnagar on the night of January 2 when he along with his supporters were sitting on a ‘night vigil’ to protest against a Government Order relating to transfer of government employees and teachers.

As the police denied permission for the protest in view of the restrictions on rallies, meetings and public gatherings to curb Covid-19 in the state, the MP along with his supporters locked themselves in MP’s camp office to stage the protest. Police broke into the office to arrest the MP. He was booked for violation of Disaster Management Act and for attacking policemen.

The next day, Sanjay was produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody. Telangana High Court later struck down the MP’s remand and ordered his release.

The MP had alleged that the police commissioner and other officials acted in a high-handed manner and manhandled him. The police officers denied the allegations.

Are Velama leaders moving away from Bandi Sanjay?

0

Why are key Velama leaders in the BJP slowly but surely becoming inactive? Why are they not visiting the party office even when VVIPs land in the state office? The insiders are now said to be making discreet enquiries about why they have become so inactive suddenly.

At a time when the BJP is going ballistic against KCR and his government in Telangana, the leaders from one particular caste are suddenly missing from action. Even when party state chief Bandi Sanjay was arrested, these leaders remained silent. This is now raising quite a few eyebrows.

BJP’s former incharge and currently Madhya Pradesh affairs incharge Muralidhar Rao did not visit the state party office even on a day when Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan viited. Similarly, a full-timer of the organisation in ABVP and the BJP for several decades and Khadi Village Industries South India incharge Perala Sekhar Rao too has not been visiting the party office. It is an open secret tht all is not well between Perala and Bandi Sanjay.

Party spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao, who too is a Velama, has not issued even a single statement on Bandi Sanjay’s arrest. He has stopped visiting the state office of the party for quite some time. Similarly, another senior hand and former MLA Sankineni Venkateswara Rao too is keeping away from the party leadership and has not been visiting the BJP state office.

Why are these leaders, all from one caste, keeping away from the state office? What’s cooking? Let’s wait and see how things unfold.

Bandi out from jail on bail, is it plus or minus for BJP?

0

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay was released from Karimnagar district jail on Wednesday evening. He was arrested on Sunday night and sent to jail on Monday morning after Karimnagar district court rejected his bail and ordered 14-day judicial remand.

Sanjay remained in jail only for 48-hours. BJP national president JP Nadda visited Hyderabad on Tuesday and took part in a protest rally against Sanjay’s arrest. With this, Sanjay’s arrest attracted national headlines.

The BJP had planned to hold a protest rally every day until Sanjay completes his 14-day judicial remand in jail. It also called for Telangana Bandh on January 10 to gain maximum political mileage out of this issue and target KCR and TRS.

All these agitation programmes were cancelled after Sanjay came out on bail. Sanjay secured bail by approaching Telangana High Court. The High Court granted him bail on Wednesday.

Sanjay’s arrest gave ammunition to BJP to take on KCR and TRS in Telangana. But his release within two days minimised the political impact in Telangana that BJP has created.

BJP leaders and cadre are talking internally among themselves questioning where was the hurry for Sanjay to secure bail in a hurry from the High Court. They opined that it would have been better had Sanjay remained in jail at least for a week if not 14 days. It would have given an opportunity for BJP to garner the attention of media and people and to attack TRS and KCR every day by taking up various agitation programmes.

They feel that whatever political mileage they had gained with Sanjay’s arrest was lost with his release from jail in 48 hours.

They feel that his arrest was a plus for BJP but his release from jail in 48 hours became minus for BJP in Telangana.
