Telangana govt owes explanation on ORR leasing: Kishan Reddy

0

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday found fault with the Telangana government for leasing out Outer Ring Road (ORR) to a private party for just Rs 7,380 crore for a period of 30 years, saying this deprived the state of Rs 75,000 crore revenues.

He said the state government owes an explanation to people as awarding of toll collection, operation and maintenance of the ORR to a private agency for 30 years on Toll, Operate and Transfer (TOT) basis would result in a huge loss of revenue to the state.

He told a news conference that the state government selected IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited in the bid in a predetermined manner and in violation of guidelines of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

Kishan Reddy explained that the private agency will collect toll for 30 years on ORR after paying only Rs 7,380 crore to the government.

He pointed out that so far Eagle Infra was collecting Rs 415 crore as toll on ORR for Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) every year.

“If this toll collection increases by 5 per cent per year, HMDA would have earned Rs 30,000 crore for 30 years. Experts and engineers say the 10 per cent increase would mean a revenue of Rs 75,000 crore during the same period. If we assume a 15 per cent increase, the revenue for the government would be over Rs 2.08 lakh crore,” he said.

Stating that Hyderabad is the fastest growing city in the country, the Union Minister said the toll revenue on ORR would only go up.

He wondered why the BRS government which had been opposing privatisation gave ORR on lease for 30 years. Taking a dig at Chief Minister KCR, he asked if this was the qualitative change he wanted to bring.

“The government should tell people for whose benefit this decision was taken,” he said.

He questioned the need for awarding the contract for 30 years when most of the roads are leased for a maximum period of 10 years.

The Union Minister alleged that BRS took the decision as it has realised that it will lose power in Telangana.

Singareni disputes Union Minister’s claim on its financial position

0

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has disputed Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s claim that it has slipped into debts of Rs 10,000 crore. clarifying that it has deposits of Rs.11,665 crore.

Hours after Tourism and Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy addressed a news conference in Delhi to allege that due to “inefficiency” of the BRS government of Telangana, Singareni’s debts were mounting by day, the public sector company released a statement saying it’s ridiculous to say that Singareni, which has revenues of Rs 27,000 crore, has huge debts.

Without naming the minister, the SCCL stated that false propaganda was being carried out against it. The company claimed that it is marching ahead with sustainable financial performance.

The SCCL, in which Telangana has 51 per cent stake, said it has deposits of Rs 11,655 crore and it is earning Rs 750 crore every year in the form of interest every year.

The coal company said that its turnover is Rs 32,000 crore while net profits stand at Rs 2,000 crore.

The SCCL said out of Rs 5,300 crore loan raised for thermal power plant, only Rs 2,800 crore is outstanding.

The company management issued the statement after Kishan Reddy told a news conference that Singareni had a bank balance of Rs 3,500 crore in 2014 but it now has debts of Rs 10,000 crore.

He alleged that the BRS government was trying to eat away Singareni, remarking that Singareni which is like a goldmine for Telangana was becoming a victim of BRS corruption.

Kishan Reddy also said that if the Telangana government tried to invest the money of SIngranei into Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Singareni employees will not keep quiet. He was referring to the plans of the Telangana government to bid for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant through the SCCL.

The central minister alleged that the interference of the BRS government and Chief Minister KCR’s family into Singareni has gone up. He remarked that Singareni had become a pocket company of the KCR family.

Kishan Reddy said KCR government was spreading lies that the Centre was trying to privatise Singareni.

TRS resorting to attacks out of fear of defeat: Kishan Reddy

1

Union Tourism and Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) men attacked BJP MP D. Arvind’s house in Hyderabad out of fear of defeat in Assembly elections.

Kishan Reddy visited Arvind’s house on Friday evening and enquired about the attack by TRS men earlier in the day.

He told reporters that the TRS is resorting to attacks out of frustration and sense of insecurity.

He claimed that the TRS got surveys conducted and after realising that it is going to lose power, it started attacking BJP leaders.

“The Chief Minister should stop surveys till October next year as a sense of insecurity has gripped him and his party after seeing the result of surveys,” he said.

Kishan Reddy said that the attack is a proof of the goondaism and rowdyism of TRS and its power-induced arrogance.

Terming the attackAoutrageous and deplorable, the Union Minister said that the attack in the heart of the city and in MLA Colony shows where Telangana is heading.

Kishan Reddy also stated that there is no need for BJP to lure leaders from other parties.

State BJP President Bandi Sanjay also strongly condemned attack by ‘TRS goons’ on Nizamabad MP’s house.

Sanjay said he spoke to Arvind over phone. “TRS lacks guts to face us democratically and so is engaging in physical attacks and bullying. Don’t assume BJP’s patience as our incompetence,” he tweeted.

“BJP is not scared of attacks by TRS rowdies. Each karyakarta will rise against the atrocities of the TRS regime and will not tolerate it if TRS goons cross the limits. Day is not far off when people will throw sticks & stones at TRS,” he wrote.

BJP General Secretary and incharge for Telangana Tarun Chug said that attack on Nizamabad MP’s house is highly condemnable. He called it by shameful act by TRS rowdies. “This is sign of beginning of end for TRS govt in Telangana. Every Karyakarta is with Arvind Dharmapuri in fighting against the atrocities of TRS,” he tweeted.

Kishan Reddy slams TRS govt for neglecting Musi works

0

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday slammed the Telangana government for neglecting Musi riverfront development saying this resulted in the flooding of areas along the course of the river.

Reddy visited some areas in Amberpet which are inundated due to recent heavy rains and floods in Musi river and Moosarambagh bridge which was submerged.

Reddy, who is an MP from Secunderabad, alleged that the negligence of the state government in developing the riverfront and checking encroachments resulted in hardships to people in the areas along the river.

He alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government failed to learn any lessons from the past. The Minister told reporters that like last year, the city received heavy rains this year too but the state government was caught napping.

The BJP leader said the state government only made announcements like setting up of a corporation for Musi riverfront development.

He recalled that the government appointed chairman and members to Musi Riverfront Development Corporation. “Only announcements were made. Nothing happened on the ground.”

Kishan Reddy said nothing was for the development of Musi river and this led to the areas on the banks of the river getting flooded again due to heavy rains.

The Union Minister also inspected Moosarambagh bridge across Musi which was completely submerged due to discharge of flood water from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs upstream.

He alleged that the TRS government failed to come to the rescue of people affected by floods and also criticized Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for visiting Delhi when people in Hyderabad were suffering due to the heavy rain and floods.

“What is he doing in Delhi? Nobody knows. Is he doing something there for people’s welfare, for his party or he went there for some conspiracy against the Narendra Modi government?” he asked.

He alleged that even in the past when people in Hyderabad were suffering due to floods, the Chief Minister did not step out of his official residence Pragati Bhavan.

Kishan Reddy claimed that the state government did not spend funds under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

He advised the TRS not to make politically motivated statements and come to the rescue of people.

KCR family resorting to lies on Smart Cities funds: Kishan Reddy

0

Union minister of tourism and culture G. Kishan Reddy has alleged that the family of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar is lying blatantly on Smart Cities funds released by Centre to Telangana.

He claimed that of more than Rs 1,000 crore allocated for Smart Cities Mission in Telangana, the Centre has released Rs 392 crore.

Kishan Reddy stated that 50 per cent matching state share of the Government of Telangana has still not been released for the Smart Cities of Warangal and Karimnagar.

Till date, the Government of Telangana has released only Rs 210 crore of the Rs 392 crore of its matching state share.

While the Centre has been making Smart City fund releases in Telangana since the financial year of 2015-2016, the Government of Telangana released its matching state share for the first time 6 years late in the previous budget of 2021-2022 after pressure from the Centre.

Even money released by Government of India towards the Smart Cities Mission
has been transferred to the smart cities of Karimnagar and Warangal by the
Government of Telangana only after a severe lag.

Reddy, who is a Member of Parliament from Secunderabad, said that timely release of matching state share contribution of Government of Telangana would have ensured Warangal and Karimnagar to have better drainage and sewerage facilities and would have coped with the recent floods better.

He pointed out that the Government has allocated Rs 2,780 crore under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0. As many as 66 projects worth Rs 1,660 crore were a part of the approved plan for the first phase of ARMUT covering 12 cities in Telangana.

Reddy said in the Telangana Government, the important and critical ministries of Finance,
Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Irrigation, Land and Revenue, Commercial
Taxes, Mining, Municipal Administration and Urban development, Information Technology, and Electronics and Communication are handled by members of one family.

“Never before have so much ministerial and administrative powers been vested on so few for so long in spite of such poor performance,” he said.

He alleged that the State Government’s Ministry of Finance and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ministries seem to be giving conflicting information on Smart Cities. He said KCR family was deliberately propagating misinformation and lies through social media.

“The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) falsely claims that the Government of India did not release even 1 rupee in the last 3 years for Smart Cities in Telangana. However, when one ascertains the facts, it becomes clear that this blame should squarely lie on the State Government of Telangana which did not allocate its share as a part of the matching grant for the Smart Cities projects in Telangana,” he added.

Dattanna’s movements in Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat worry Kishan Reddy

0

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has a big problem these days. The problem is that his job as a union minister requires constant touring and spending days in Delhi. With a task master like Modi as the boss he has to clear files galore and thus is finding little time for Telangana.

Taking advantage of this, another young contender is trying to establish herself in Secunderabad with the help of her father. We are talking of Bandaru Vijayalakshmi, daughter of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. Dattanna has been Secunderabad MP for three times and a minister twice at the Centre. He has a firm grip on Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency.

These days, Dattanna is spending considerable time in Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency area and is seen taking part in several programmes. In all these programmes, his daughter Vijayalakshmi is a constant fixture. She was introduced to the who-is-who of Telugu politics and was given the task of organising Alai Bhalai this year. It is clear that Dattanna wants to promote her in politics.

Sources say that Kishan Reddy is upset that Dattanna and his daughter are trying to challenge him in Secunderabad constituency. One proposal doing rounds is that while Kishan Reddy would be contesting for the Lok Sabha seat, Vijayalakshmi would be asked to contest from Ambarpet. This would mean that he would have to forgo his assembly constituency. Highly placed sources say that Kishan Reddy was planning to field his wife Kavya from Amberpet. Now he may have to allow Vijayalakshmi to contest from the same seat.

Is this why Kishan Reddy is silent in Telangana?

0

Till a few months ago, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy was quite active and was passing several comments on the state BJP affairs. Some of his comments ran counter to the statements of Bandi Sanjay and his moves gave an impression that there was intense groupism in the Telangana BJP. But now, he Is not making comments and is seen focusing more on his ministerial responsibilities.

BJP insiders say that the BJP top bosses have told Kishan Reddy point blank to focus only on his ministerial responsibilities and leave state politics to the state president Bandi Sanjay. They also reportedly asked him not to interfere in the state affairs. Sources said that this diktat was issued on the basis of a complaint by state president Bandi Sanjay. That is why Kishan Reddy is not actively seen in the yatra of Bandi Sanjay.

BJP insiders also say that Kishan Reddy these days is only visiting the Ambarpet constituency. Sources say that he and his close associates are focusing only on the constituency. Besides, he is busy managing things in the Secunderabad MP constituency, which has sent him to the Lok Sabha.

The party also reportedly told him not to make statements thatcan be construed as pro-TRS. This was done to give a free run to Bandi Sanjay, whose yatra’s first phase has just ended. However, Kishan Reddy would be campaigning in Huzurabad soon in support of the party candidate Eatala Rajender.

Kishan Reddy exposes ‘scam’ in TTD jumbo board?

0

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh headed by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is facing severe criticism from all quarters for constituting a ‘jumbo board’ for TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam) two days ago.

Jagan has constituted a new TTD Board with 81-members, the highest-ever inviting the wrath of opposition parties as well as social and religious organisations.

Jagan is facing criticism of accommodating politicians, criminals and accused persons in CBI cases in TTD Board for his selfish interests.

There are allegations that several persons secured TTD Board posts on the ‘fake recommendation letters’ of union ministers.

One such fake recommendation letter was reportedly issued in the name of union tourism minister G.Kishan Reddy.

Kishan Reddy reportedly expressed severe anger at this and written to CM Jagan to take stringent action against one person who produced fake recommendation letter in his name and grabbed TTD post.

Kishan Reddy is said to have informed Jagan that he had not issued any recommendation letter and asked Jagan to take corrective measures in this regard.

Jagan-Kishan meet upsets Jana Sena

0

The Jana Sena is said to be deeply upset over the bonhomie between its ally, the BJP and arch rival, the YSRCP. How can BJP’s union minister G Kishan Reddy call on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while on a party tour, this is what the Jana Sena is asking. The Jana Sena wants to know why Kishan Reddy met Jagan at a time when the Jana Sena is fighting Jagan’s governance and policies tooth and nail.

Recently, during his Jana Asheervad Yatra, which is essentially party programme aimed at promoting the policies and principles of the BJP, Kishan Reddy called on YS Jagan and had a meeting with him. In fact, the neither the BJP nor Kishan Reddy keep the alliance partner Jana Sena in the loop while meeting YS Jagan. Normally, when meeting arch rival like Jagan, the BJP should have discussed the issue with the Jana Sena. But, the BjP did nothing of that sort. This has rankled the Jana Sena.

The Jana Sena is of the opinion that at a time when the BjP and the Jana Sena are waging a relentless war against YS Jagan, such meeting will send a wrong signal. The Jana Sena has been opposing Jagan’s three-capital move and several other schemes. It has also questioned YS Jagan for not taking adequate care of the poor and the marginalised people. Even in Tirupati and local body polls, both the Jana Sena and the BjP have opposed YSRCP. Given all these, how can Kishan Reddy meet Jagan without informing the ally Jana Sena?

If sources are to be believed, Jana Sena top leadership is now planning to discuss the issue with the BjP’s national leadership and if it doesn’t get a satisfactory reply, it would even consider breaking the alliance with the BJP, sources said. With this kind of cross relationship, there is no point in continuing the alliance, the Jana Sena leaders said .

Kishan Reddy-Komatireddy meet: Still the talk of the town

1

One leader who has not yet reconciled to Revanth Reddy’s elevation as the Telangana PCC chief is Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. He was a strong contender for the TPCC post and lobbied hard by camping in Delhi for days on end. However, the proverbial lady luck smiled on Revanth Reddy and Komatireddy had to return empty-handed.

Ever since, he is back in the state, he is fretting and fuming. He has not congratulated Revanth so far. In fact, he said Revanth was a small child before him. He did not attend Revanth swearing-in. But more than all these things, it is his meeting with Union Minister and BjP leader G Kishan Reddy that is making waves. The political circles are still talking about this. They are debating as to what is the real import of this meeting.

Though Komatireddy says that he has met only to congratulate Kishan Reddy on his elevation as a cabinet minister due to the long-standing friendship, not many seem to agree. They feel that this meeting could set off a series of political developments in Telangana that could seriously impact the state. Some say that Komatireddy’s brother Rajagopal Reddy is already in touch with the BJP and has repeatedly made pro-BJP noises. Even after Revanth Reddy’s elevation, Rajagopal Reddy made pro-BJP statements.

Given all these, political pundits feel that there is more to Kishan Reddy – Komatireddy meet than meets the eye. This could be the beginning of a new political alignment, they feel. While both Kishan Reddy and Komatireddy have claimed that it was just a courtesy call, tongues are wagging about the political timing of the meet. Is something serious cooking between Komatireddy and the BJP? Let’s wait and watch this space.

Was Kishan Reddy sidelined in BJP with tourism portfolio?

0

The joy of union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy of getting promotion as cabinet minister in Narendra Modi cabinet was shortlived after he was allocated the portfolio of tourism and culture.

This is because the ministry of tourism and culture is generally considered as a ‘loopline post’ in the union cabinet in any party government.

Normally, such insignificant posts are given to new entrants or those who don’t have much political significance.

Megastar Chiranjeevi was given this portfolio in the UPA government as a ‘return gift’ for merging his Praja Rajyam Party into Congress.

Then UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi wanted Chiranjeevi to be included in the cabinet as a thanksgiving gesture for merging his party into Congress but at the same time he should be given a portfolio which is not significant.

Now, poor Kishan Reddy who used to get more respect and recognition in the union home ministry even in his capacity as minister of state and deputy to home minister Amit Shah, has now lost his significance due to tourism ministry despite his promotion as cabinet minister.

Although Amit Shah is the home minister, it’s Kishan Reddy who used to handle entire home ministry all these days as Amit Shah entrusted him all the ministry tasks since he is busy with handling party affairs and elections in all the States. All IPS officers used to be under his control as they report to home ministry.

With Kishan Reddy working as ‘shadow home minister’ he used to get a lot of respect and command in New Delhi, which is no more the case now.

Looking at this, Kishan Reddy’s supporters in BJP are disappointed doubt that he was in fact sidelined by the party high command in BJP by giving promotion.

Kishan Reddy, Modi govt’s sole face from Telugu states, gets promotion

0

Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, who was promoted to the cabinet rank on Wednesday, remained the only face in the Narendra Modi government from the two Telugu states.

One of the prominent faces of the BJP in Telangana, Kishan Reddy is a first-term MP from Secunderabad, one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Hyderabad.

Kishan Reddy is among the four BJP MPs from Telangana. Some party leaders were hoping that Soyam Bapu Rao, who represents Adilabad constituency, may be inducted but no other face from Telangana found a place in the expansion.

Andhra Pradesh remained the only southern state which has no representation. The party has no MP from Andhra Pradesh.

Kishan Reddy, who also served as three-time MLA, has been associated with BJP since its inception. He began his political career as an ordinary party worker and came up in the organisation through sheer hard work and determination.

Popular among his supporters as ‘Krishananna’, the 60-year-old’s calm demeanour betrays his inner strength. He had served as BJP floor leader in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Assemblies.

Hailing from Ranga Reddy district, he was born in a middle-class farmers’ family in 1960. He earned a diploma in tool designs from the Central Institute of Tool Designs in Hyderabad.

As someone who drew inspiration from Lokmanya Jayaprakash Narayan, he displayed leadership instincts from his student days.

He joined BJP as its youth worker. He was rewarded for his unflinching commitment by the party by appointing him as the national President of party’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in 2002.

He was also President of BJP’s state unit in undivided Andhra Pradesh for two terms from 2010 to 2014. After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, he became President of the Telangana unit of the party and held the post till 2016.

He was first elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly in 2004 from Himayatnagar constituency in Hyderabad. After the delimitation of constituencies in 2009, he contested from Amberpet and went on to win two terms as MLA from the constituency.

He also served as floor leader of the party in both the state Assemblies. He lost the Amberpet Assembly constituency in the elections held in 2018 but was picked up as party candidate for Lok Sabha elections from Secunderabad.

Opposition speaking in Pakistan’s language on Kashmir: Minister

0

Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday said that the number of violent protests in Jammu and Kashmir has come down lately. He also slammed the opposition for speaking in the language of Pakistan.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event here, the Central minister said, “In Jammu and Kashmir it is not the first time that these small incidents of violence are taking place. These have been happening for years.”

“But now the number of these violent protests has come down,” he said.

To a question on when the opposition parties will be given permission to hold meetings in the Valley, the Minister said, “Looking at the actions of Pakistan we are taking precautionary measures in Jammu and Kashmir.”

He said the opposition parties would have a lot of time to visit Kashmir and hold meetings there.

“So the opposition parties need to have patience for a few days and then they can hold meetings there,” he said.

Taking a jibe at former Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his wish to visit Kashmir, Reddy said, “Even Rahul Gandhi can hold a meeting there and visit Kashmir and no one will stop him to visit there.”

Describing the government’s move of revoking Article 370 as a step towards the integration of the country, he said, “We have taken the step for the integration of the country. The Constitution of India has now been implemented there. Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution has been launched there. We have done good work for the country. Now the Dalit reservation can be launched there.”

Hitting out at opposition parties for speaking in Pakistan’s language, the Minister said, “Pakistan is trying its best to provoke unrest there (Kashmir) to tell the world that there is no peace. And now the opposition parties also want to go with Pakistan as they are speaking in its language which is wrong.”

When asked about the release of the detained Kashmiri political leaders, he said, “The call on this issue will be taken by the administration there. We have no role in it.”

Minister of State for Home has become a joke: KCR

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday said that Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy has become a joke by stating that Hyderabad is a “safe zone for terrorists”.

“People are laughing at him. He has become a joke,” Rao said at a news conference on Tuesday night.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, said there was not a single incident of communal violence in Telangana during last five years and the Union Home Ministry also went on record to state that the crime rate in the state had come down.

“There was no terrorist attack. We are an active government. This is a neat and clean state. In fact there is no other state like this in India,” he said.

Kishan Reddy, who is a member of Parliament from Secunderabad, had said after taking oath as the Minister of State on May 30 that Hyderabad had become safe zone for terrorists as any terror incident in the country would have a link to the city.

KCR said since the Andhra Pradesh government had handed back the buildings at the secretariat to Telangana, a new secretariat complex would be built at the existing premises. He said the foundation stone for the new secretariat building will be laid on June 27. The complex with 5-6 lakh square feet space will be built at a cost of Rs 400 crore.

The Chief Minister also announced that the existing Assembly building will be preserved as heritage structure and a new legislature complex comprising legislative Assembly and legislative Council will be built at Yerrum Manzil at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

He said Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments had agreed to hold talks to solve all outstanding issues with regard to distribution of waters of Godavari and Krishna rivers.

KCR said a delegation of top irrigation officials of Andhra will visit Hyderabad on June 27 or 28 for first round of talks.
