KCR promises free power to farmers across India

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday predicted that a non-BJP government will definitely come to power at the Centre in the next elections and assured farmers that it will provide free electricity to farmers across the country.

Rao called for sending the BJP home in 2024. He urged people to back the slogan for “BJP-Mukt Bharat” and elect a democratic and secular government.

Addressing a public meeting in Nizamabad after inaugurating an integrated district collectorate complex, he, terming Narendra Modi government anti-farmer, said it was not ready to spend 1.45 lakh crores to provide free electricity to farmers but looted Rs.12 lakh crore in the name of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) and loan waivers to corporates.

Claiming that Telangana is the only state in the country supplying 24 hours free electricity to farmers, KCR announced when a non-BJP government comes to power, this will be extended to the entire country.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief alleged that Prime Minister Modi is hatching a conspiracy to install water meters to agricultural borewells.

He slammed the Modi government for not buying agriculture produce from the farmers, not ensuring remunerative prices, and for conspiring to capture the lands of farmers.

“The BJP at the Centre has been selling everything like airports, ports, banks and industries. Now there is conspiracy to grab the lands of farmers,” he said.

The Chief Minister said under BJP’s rule unemployment has increased in the country and rupee has fallen to a record low. Nothing has been done for Dalits, weaker sections and women, he added.

He alleged that Modi is only busy in toppling the opposition governments in states.

The TRS leader said with the blessings of people he would be entering the national politics. He said a beginning would be made from Nizamabad.

KCR called for debate on what is happening in the country and for an awareness among people. He said the BJP government which was fueling religious madness and hatred must be sent home.

“Should we allow the nation burn in the flames of religious madness. Do you wish to see water flowing in the canals or the blood. Do you want to see crops or the blood drops,” he asked and urged the Indian farmers to ponder.

100 MLAs, MPs to be part of TRS campaign in Munugode

1

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will be going all out to wrest Munugode Assembly seat in the impending by-election caused by the resignation of sitting MLA of Congress party.

The ruling party plans to launch its poll campaign from September 15 in the constituency, which is likely to witness a bitter triangular fight.

Treating it as a battle of prestige, the TRS will be leaving no stone unturned to achieve Mission Munugode to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from winning another by-election.

After wresting Dubbak and Huzurabad from TRS in 2020 and 2021 respectively, the BJP is keen to score a hat-trick of by-poll victories. The contest in Munugode is being see as a semi-final by the major players ahead of the next year’s Assembly elections.

The seat fell vacant with the resignation of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who has switched loyalties to the BJP. He formally joined the BJP at a public meeting addressed by union home minister Amit Shah in Munugode on August 21.

Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who addressed a public meeting in the constituency a day before BJP’s rally, has entrusted the responsibility of the TRS campaign to 100 MLAs, MLCs and MPs.

These leaders will hit the campaign trail from September 15. The party has prepared a ’50-day action plan’.

The party will rope in 1,500 leaders and workers for the intensive campaign covering all the mandals, villages, and municipalities over the next 50 days.

The TRS expects that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will announce poll notification by the end of September and by-election will be held by October-end.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, already held a meeting with TRS leaders from united Nalgonda district to chalk out the party’s strategy.

The MLAs, MLCs and other leaders will work under energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy, who will be incharge for the party’s campaign in Munugode.

Each MLA is likely to be entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the party campaign in two villages. As many as 88 MLAs are likely to camp in the constituency.

The ruling party has a strength of 103 MLAs, 36 MLCs and 17 MPs. Services of at least 100 of them will be utilized for the campaign. They will be given the responsibility of campaigning in 100 units (villages or wards).

Every MLA, MLC and MP is likely to bring 15 party members to Munugode for the campaign at field level. They will go door-to-door interact with voters and beneficiaries of various schemes of the state government. The leaders will also distribute the assistance under different schemes.

Like Congress, the TRS has also not yet announced its candidate for the by-election. The ruling party’s focus on Munugode is significant in the wake of BJP stepping up its efforts to capture power in the state.

The saffron party will be looking to repeat the success of Dubbak and Huzurabad by-elections to consolidate its position in the run-up to 2023 polls.

After failing to retain Huzurnagar seat in 2019 and wrest Nagarjuna Sagar from TRS last year, the Congress party is also desperate for a win.

The by-election in Huzurnagar was caused by the resignation of Uttam Kumar Reddy after he was elected to Lok Sabha in 2019 while Nagarjuna Sagar seat fell vacant after the demise of a sitting legislator of TRS. Both the seats were won by the TRS.

The Congress party, which lost a dozen MLAs to TRS after 2018 elections, fared badly in the by-elections for Dubbak and Huzurabad, which were wrested by BJP from TRS.

BJP’s Raghunandan Rao had won Dubbak in 2020 by a narrow margin of 1,079 votes against TRS candidate S. Sujatha, widow of S. Ramalinga Reddy whose death had caused the bypoll.

This victory gave new confidence to the BJP, which had won just one seat in the 119-member Assembly in the 2018 elections.

The BJP received a shot in the arm after Eatala Rajender joined its rank after he was dropped from the state Cabinet by KCR following allegations that he encroached lands of some farmers. Rajender resigned from the Huzurabad seat and contested the by-election as BJP candidate.

Riding on the popularity of Rajender in the constituency, BJP won the by-election, dealing a big blow to TRS.

BJP now hopes that like Rajender, Rajagopal Reddy will give the party a big victory in Munugode to bolster its prospects in the next year’s elections.

Given the significance of the by-election for their Mission 2023, the saffron party is likely to rope in top Central leaders. The conduct of the party’s national executive in Hyderabad in July and a massive public meeting addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda has already boosted the morale of BJP cadres in the state.

KCR ‘insulted’ Nitish Kumar, says Sushil Modi

0

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday claimed that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao insulted his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar during the press conference on Wednesday.

“Nitish Kumar had invited KCR (as the Telangana Chief Minister is popularly known) to come to Patna to announce his name as a Prime Ministerial candidate but KCR refused to take his name forward. When Rao did not announce his name, Nitish Kumar stood from the chair but KCR then asked him to sit for a while… no bigger insult than this,” Modi said.

Sushil Modi further said that both Nitish Kumar and KCR have been dreaming to become prime minister in daylight.

During the press conference, Nitish Kumar stood from his chair after a reporter asked KCR about the possibility of the Bihar Chief Minister being named prime ministerial candidate of the opposition parties for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. KCR had said that he is not the only leader in the opposition camp to take the decision.

He further said that the opposition leaders will sit together to elect a leader for the prime ministerial candidate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Kumar, MLC and chief spokesperson of JD-U said: “Sushil Modi is trying to twist this. He is talking against CM Nitish Kumar to get some post in BJP. When he was in power with CM Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi himself projected Nitish Kumar as a prime ministerial candidate. He officially said that Nitish Kumar is a PM material. As he is in the opposition in Bihar, he is saying things like this. BJP leaders are unable to digest the unity of opposition leaders. They are feeling the heat and hence giving such a statement in desperation.”

“Nitish Kumar never projected himself as the prime ministerial candidate. Also, our party’s national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh or state president Upendra Kushwaha did not project him as a PM candidate. BJP leaders are unnecessarily raising this point,” Kumar said.

KCR on Bihar visit today to meet CM Nitish Kumar

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekher Rao is arriving here on Wednesday to meet Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav.

His arrival in Bihar is being seen as a big political development ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. After the separation with NDA, this would be his first meeting to root out BJP from the Centre.

KCR’s arrival is also an achievement for chief minister Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav who are making all-out efforts to bring all opposition leaders under one umbrella to take on the BJP.

He is also schedelued to participate in a programme along with the two Bihar leaders.

Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav met KCR twice in Hyderabad when the former was leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly. He was trying hard to bring KCR in the opposition camp as he is a senior leader of the country and has great respect in all sections of political and social circles.

Currently, chief ministers of Bihar, West Bengal, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Kerala, Jharkhand and other states are against the BJP government and are trying to defeat the saffron party in the Lok Sabha election.

Tejashwi Yadav and national president of JD-U Rajiv Ranjan Singh, alias Lalan Singh, have already started the preparation in Bihar and announced to defeat BJP on all 40 seats here.

West Bengal is another state where Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee will fight tooth and nail against the saffron party .

KCR expanding TRS in other states with public money: Revanth Reddy

1

Congress’ Telangana unit chief A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was trying to expand his TRS to other parts of the country by spending public money.

Revanth Reddy slammed the Chief Minister for distributing Telangana people’s money in states like Delhi, Punjab and Bihar to expand Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in those states, and questioned KCR as to why he was not giving priority to people of Telangana at par with people of other states.

He attacked KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, a day after he announced that he would be visiting Bihar on Wednesday to distribute cheques to families of Indian soldiers who died during clashes with Chinese troops and also to families of the migrant workers from Bihar who died in a fire accident in Hyderabad.

KCR along with his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar will hand over financial assistance to the families of Indian soldiers who were martyred in Galwan valley. Cheques of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to families of the martyred soldiers.

He will also provide financial assistance to the families of 12 Bihar workers who died in the recent fire accident in Hyderabad. Cheques of Rs 5 lakh each will be handed over to their families.

Reddy wanted to know why KCR was not giving financial assistance to families of martyred soldiers belonging to Telangana.

KCR had earlier visited Punjab in May to distribute financial aid among families of Galwan valley martyrs and also the farmers who died during the movement against three farm laws enacted by the Centre.

In March, KCR had visited Ranchi and handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of two soldiers.

Revanth Reddy, who is a member of Lok Sabha, alleged that the state government has turned government programmes into party programmes. He said he was not invited for the inauguration of offices of two district collectors in his constituency.

He said that instead of inviting Congress MLA Sridhar Babu for the inauguration of district collectorate in Peddapalli district, the government placed him under house arrest.

The Congress leader said both TRS and BJP were misleading people to avoid debate on people’s issues. He alleged that both the parties have formed committees to buy public representatives. He said attempts were being made to buy leaders in Munugode assembly constituency.

He announced that the Congress will launch field-level visits in Munugode from September 1. The same day, a ‘Munugode charge sheet’ will be released and a door-to-door campaign will be launched.

Munugode seat fell vacant after resignation of Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who has now joined the BJP.

KCR to meet Nitish Kumar in Patna on Aug 31

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will call on his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar in Patna on August 31.

According to Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), both the Chief Ministers will discuss national politics during the luncheon meeting.

This will be Chief Minister KCR’s first meeting with Janata Dal-United leader Nitish Kumar after he snapped ties with the BJP to form a coalition government in Bihar with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) early this month.

The meeting assumes significance in view of Nitish Kumar’s statement that he will lead the efforts to unite the opposition parties ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief, who has already declared his ambition to play a key role in national politics, is likely to discuss his plans to forge an alliance of like-minded parties to take on the Narendra Modi-led BJP.

KCR will be visiting Bihar after a two-day meeting with leaders of farmers’ organisations from 26 states here. The farmer leaders appealed to him to lead the national movement for addressing farmers’ issues and to replicate the Telangana model for development of agriculture and farmer welfare across the country.

The Chief Minister will leave for Patna on August 31 morning. He, along with Nitish Kumar, will handover financial assistance to the families of Indian soldiers who were martyred in Galwan valley. Cheques of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to families of martyred soldiers.

KCR will also provide financial assistance to the families of 12 Bihar workers who died in the recent accident in the state. Cheques of Rs 5 lakh each will be handed over to their families.

KCR had earlier visited Punjab in May to distribute financial aid among families of Galwan valley martyrs and also the farmers who died during the movement against three farm laws enacted by the Centre. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had accompanied him.

In March, KCR had visited Ranchi along with his Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren, and handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of two soldiers.

He had announced in 2020 that the state government would give Rs 10 lakh each to the families of 19 soldiers who hailed from various states.

The Telangana government had given Rs 5 crore for the family of Colonel B. Santosh Babu, who along with 19 soldiers, was killed in the clash with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley of Ladakh on June 15, 2020. Santosh Babu was a resident of Suryapet town in Telangana.

Farmers’ forum may be KCR’s launchpad for national politics

The proposed joint forum of farmers at the national level to replicate Telangana’s success in agriculture is likely to be the launchpad for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s foray into national politics.

The two-day discussion he had with leaders of farmers organisations from 26 states here is the beginning of the effort to form a national body, which may later become a national political party with farmers’ issues at the core of its agenda.

The deliberations the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief had with farmer leaders at his official residence Pragati Bhavan indicate that he has finally taken the initiative to unite the farmer organisations from across the country to work on the alternate national agenda.

With leaders of farmers unions unanimously adopting a resolution urging KCR to lead a nationwide campaign to unite farmers for struggles, the TRS leader appears set to don a national role.

The farm leaders, who were impressed with the initiatives taken by KCR’s government, requested him to lead a nationwide campaign to unite farmers for struggles right from the village level.

On the second day of the meeting on Sunday, leaders of farmer unions urged KCR to prepare the blueprint for the struggles taking into consideration the changed agricultural scenario in the country.

KCR called for democratic agitations and Parliamentary form of struggles on the lines of the agitation for statehood to Telangana to resolve the problems of agriculture and farmers in the country.

Lamenting that farmers did not find solutions to their problems even 75 years after India’s Independence, KCR felt the struggles should reach a stage where people who set up obstacles to agriculture would be forced to raise ‘Jai Kisan’ slogans like those who were opposed to separate state joined the ‘Jai Telangana’ chorus.

KCR also underlined the need for linking the farmers’ agitation with legislatures. He recalled that the Telangana movement became stronger after people expressed their demand for a state through the medium of vote in elections.

He suggested to the farmer leaders to enter politics and get elected to statutory bodies to take up issues of agriculture. He also emphasized the need to sensitize people to vote for farmers.

A bitter critic of Narendra Modi government’s faulty agricultural policies, KCR presided over lengthy discussions on how these policies resulted in the collapse of the farming sector.

The farmer leaders agreed that the pro-farmer programmes of Telangana like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and free power to agriculture rattled the Centre.

They passed a resolution to form a ‘National Farmers’ United Forum’ to replicate Telangana’s development in agriculture and farmer welfare policies across the country.

The meeting analysed the development of agriculture, irrigation and power sectors in Telangana and the implementation of farmer welfare programmes and the progress of other agricultural-related projects in the state.

In addition to the initiatives taken to build massive irrigation projects and the welfare schemes for the farmers, KCR highlighted Telangana’s success in rejuvenation of old tanks under Mission Kakatiya and drinking water supply to every household under Mission Bhagiratha. He also spoke on the state’s social security pension scheme Aasara pensions and other schemes.

KCR told the farmer leaders that as compared to the US, China, or any other country, India was abundant in water, land, and human resources. He pointed out that 40 crore acres of cultivable lands in the country needed 40,000 tmcft of water, and that 10,000 tmcft water was enough to fulfil the drinking water needs of the entire population

He said the people in India were suffering due to scarcity of water despite the availability of 70,000 tmcft of water in the country. Though the country had a capacity to generate 4 lakh MW of power, it was not able to go beyond even 2 lakh MW of power, he said.

He called for a debate at the national level on how Telangana, a state created only eight years ago, succeeded in ensuring 24-hour round the clock electricity supply to all sectors, free and uninterrupted supply to farmers and drinking water to every household.

KCR provided the statistics to show how Telangana ramped up its area under cultivation and increased the production. He slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre for what he called targeting the states lending a helping hand to farmers.

The TRS chief had long been raising these issues but this is the first time that he hosted a meeting of farmer leaders from across the country to discuss the issues and mooted the idea of floating a national body to fight on farmers’ issues.

Political analysts say that KCR is now likely to expedite the process of consultation with other stakeholders from across the country to come out with an alternate agenda for the nation.

On several occasions, the TRS leader expressed his ambition to play a key role in national politics to bring a qualitative change in the country.

KCR has also been stressing that his efforts were not aimed at bringing a few political parties together to form a front but he wants to see a qualitative change with an alternate national agenda. He repeatedly asserted that he would be working to garner support from all sections of people with debate in different forums.

KCR is a new Nizam, says Nadda

1

BJP president J.P. Nadda termed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao a new Nizam and called up the people of Telangana to uproot his corrupt and autocratic government.

Addressing a public meeting at Hanamkonda town, he slammed Chief Minister KCR for imposing restrictions on public meetings and compared this with the last diktat of Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last ruler of the erstwhile Hyderabad state.

Nadda was addressing the public meeting at Hanamkonda Arts College ground to mark the culmination of the third phase of state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Praja Sangrama Yatra.

The BJP chief said before his arrival he learnt that permission for the ground was cancelled and at a midnight hearing the court gave permission. He also claimed that when he landed at the airport, he was told that the party leaders and workers can’t accord him a welcome as prohibitory orders under Section 144 are in force.

He recalled that Bandi Sanjay was also arrested during the second phase of the yatra and when he came to secure his release, he was told at the airport that he can’t lead the protest due to Covid-19 protocol.

Alleging that democracy is in danger in Telangana due to KCR’s actions, Nadda said in the coming elections people of Telangana will send him home and bring BJP to power. “Like last Nizam’s ‘firman’ Gashti Nishan 53 banning public meetings and speeches, the prohibitory order of KCR will prove his last order,” he said.

The BJP leader alleged that KCR was scared of BJP after defeats in the by-elections in Dubbaka and Huzurabad.

Alleging that TRS and KCR pushed Telangana in darkness, Nadda said the aim of Praja Sangrama Yatra is to bring light and development to Telangana.

The BJP president said while the country was marching ahead on the path of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, corruption was rampant in Telangana under TRS rule.

Nadda said that Telangana, which should have leap-frogged the development, is in losses of lakhs of crores due to rampant corruption.

“This corruption has now reached Delhi,” he said in an obvious reference to allegations that KCR’s daughter Kavitha was involved in the Delhi liquor scam.

He claimed that the Modi government is implementing a host of schemes for empowerment of Dalits, women, youth, farmers and other weaker sections of the society.

He alleged that KCR was diverting funds provided under the schemes of the Central government and giving his name to the Central schemes.

He claimed that the Centre sanctioned Rs 377 crore for relief works in 11 food-hit 11 districts and released Rs 188 crore but KCR did not provide any help to the victims.

Stating that Centre provided Rs 3,982 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission, he said Telangana spent only Rs 200 crore.

The BJP chief termed Kaleshwaram project a symbol of corruption.

“This project has become an ATM for KCR as he revised its cost from Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 1.40 lakh crore,” he said.

Nadda said Telangana achieved after a long struggle and claimed that BJP was first to support the demand for Telangana by passing the Kakinada resolution.

He slammed KCR for what he called going back on his promise to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day due to pressure from Majlis and promised that if voted to power BJP will celebrate the day officially.

Central minister G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay and other leaders addressed the public meeting.

Jagan, KCR racing for top position in corruption, says Central Minister Thakur

1

BJP senior leader and Union Minister for Youth Affairs, Anurag Thakur said that Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao were competing with each other to reach top position in corruption in the country. He said right now, Jagan Mohan Reddy was in fourth place while KCR was in second place in corruption.

The Union Minister addressed a meeting of the BJYM, the youth wing of the BJP in Vijayawada on Sunday, where he attacked the chief ministers of the two Telugu States. He said that both the chief ministers have failed to live up to the expectations of the youth. The two chief ministers have not created employment opportunities and were forcing the youth to join the mafia.

Anurag Thakur said that both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states were ruled by the sand, land, liquor mafias. As there are no jobs, the youth were getting attracted to these mafias, the Union Minister said.

The Union Minister referred to the liquor racket found in the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, and said that the mafia has links with Andhra Pradesh. He advised Jagan Mohan Reddy to focus on providing new jobs for the youth. He also told the AP chief minister to stop smuggling of ganja from the state.

Anurag Thakur said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was more interested in JST (Jagan Service Tax) rather than the GST. He asked the people to reject Jagan Mohan Reddy and rally behind the BJP for corruption-free government and wealth creation.

The Union Minister also found fault with Jagan Mohan Reddy for planning three capitals. “There is no money to build a single capital. How can this government build three capitals?” the Union Minister asked.

Munugode should send a message to entire country: KCR

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said the upcoming by-election to Munugode Assembly constituency should send a message to the entire country.

Addressing a massive public meeting in Munugode constituency in Nalgonda district to formally launch the poll campaign of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with a scathing attack on the BJP.

Alleging that the Narendra Modi-led Central government wants to scrap the welfare schemes, the TRS chief said as long as he is alive schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, Aasara pensions and free electricity to farmers will continue.

The chief minister told the people that the by-election is not mere a political fight but it is about their very survival.

Speaking a day before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s public meeting in the constituency, CM KCR cautioned people against getting carried away and warned that if BJP wins it would do away with welfare schemes and fix electricity meters to agriculture pumpsets.

“Do you want to vote for those who want to fix meters or those who are opposed to installing meters,” asked KCR.

He asked people of Munugode to think why a by-poll was forced upon them and for whose benefit or welfare. He asked where was the need for the by-poll when the elections are only a year away. “BJP could never save its deposit in this constituency. If they get votes, they will install meters,” he said.

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy’s recent resignation as MLA has caused the vacancy. Reddy, who quit the Congress party, will be joining BJP on Sunday in the presence of Amit Shah.

KCR also accused the Centre of willfully delaying on deciding the state’s share in Krishna waters. He dared Amit Shah to answer this in Sunday’s public meeting.

Slamming the BJP for anti-people measures and divisive politics, the TRS chief said there should be a debate on what is happening.

He welcomed the decision of the Communist Party of India (CPI) not to contest the by-election and extended support to TRS to defeat BJP and hoped that CPI-M would also join hands with them.

KCR also exuded confidence that this unity will continue from Munugode to Delhi. He said efforts were on to bring all progressive forces together to drive out BJP.

KCR told people that they are his power in the fight against the Prime Minister and urged them to strengthen his hands in this fight

He also lashed out at the BJP for its arrogance and attempts to throw democratic values to the wind by toppling opposition governments in various states.

“In the 119-member Telangana Assembly, TRS has 103 members and its friendly party has seven. There are only nine others but they are so arrogant that they talk of creating Eknath Shindes,” he said.

He alleged that BJP talked of pulling down the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal. aceTheir arrogance will lead to their downfall,” he said.

On the threat by BJP leaders to use the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him, he remarked that he was not afraid of ‘ED, Bodi’. “Thieves will be scared of ED. Those who work for people’s good and their welfare will never be scared. If ED people come, they will serve me the tea,” he said.

KCR leads massive rally to Munugode to launch TRS campaign

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday left for Munugode Assembly constituency in a massive rally from here to launch TRS campaign for the upcoming by-election.

Accompanied by some ministers and leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in a bus, chief minister KCR left from his official residence Pragati Bhavan. His convoy of vehicles was en route joined by a large number of cars.

The rally led to a huge traffic jam from Uppal to L. B. Nagar on the city periphery.

Ministers, MPs and MLAs also left in rallies from various destinations for Chotuppal, where KCR will be addressing a public meeting later in the day.

Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav left Hyderabad for Choutuppal along with 400 vehicles.

Former minister and MLA D. Nagender was leading a rally of 300 cars. The rally started from Necklace Road in Hyderabad.

The TRS is holding a massive show of strength a day before union home minister Amit Shah’s public meeting in the constituency. Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who recently resigned from Congress party and also from Assembly, will be joining the BJP in the presence of Amit Shah.

Rajagopal Reddy has already announced that he will contest the by-election to Munugode seat as the BJP candidate.

State minister Jagdish Reddy, who was supervising arrangements for the public meeting, alleged that Rajagopal Reddy resigned as MLA to get a contract from the BJP-led government at the Centre for his company.

Time has come to dethrone BJP-led government: KCR

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the enemy of Telangana and said time has come to dethrone the BJP-led government at the Centre.

He said that a government which respects the states should come to power at the Centre.

Chandrasekhar Rao voiced concern over the growing unemployment, depreciation of rupee and skyrocketing of fuel prices.

“The time has come to send this government at the Centre home and bring our own government,” he said.

The chief minister was addressing a public meeting at Vikarabad after inaugurating a new building of the district collectorate.

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, said there was no substance in the Prime Minister’s speech at the Independence Day parade. He remarked that Modi “merely wore a turban and delivered dialogues during his one-hour speech”.

“There was nothing in it. No new scheme was announced. There was not even a single word about the welfare of the country,” he said.

KCR reiterated that the Centre is creating hurdles in the path of Telangana’s development.

He came down heavily on the Prime Minister for not fulfilling the commitments made by the Centre to Telangana in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

He pointed out that the state government submitted hundreds of representations to the Centre during the last eight years but there was no response.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) also hit out at the Prime Minister for his remarks on freebies saying that no state in the country is implementing welfare measures that are done in Telangana.

KCR alleged that in the guise of electricity reforms, the Centre is imposing restrictions on farmers by installing meters

He said the Centre was obstructing free power to farmers but helping Corporates to loot crores of rupees.

“We have enough coal reserves in Singareni but PM Narendra Modi is imposing new rules to buy coal from outside,” he said.

He cautioned people against falling into the trap of evil forces. He advised them to be careful to avoid the suffering faced in the united Andhra Pradesh.

He called on people to chase away the evil forces and save Telangana from them. “We should teach a befitting lesson to the evil forces,” he said.

“Telangana intellectuals should think of the well being of Telangana state. The state was achieved after a long struggle. There was no water and electricity. Under Mission Bhagiratha, we are supplying safe drinking water to every household, providing 24 hours quality electricity to all sectors and supplying free electricity to more than 26 lakh motor pump sets,” he said

KCR skips TS Governor’s At Home

0

The differences between Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Governor Tamilasai Soundararajan came to the fore once again on August 15. The Governor is proactive, much to the dislike and discomfort of the chief minister.

The Governor is addressing the press conferences, attending interviews and even making field visits. She had recently visited the flood-hit areas along Godavari river and interacted with the flood victims directly.

Her proactive attitude had widened the gap between the chief minister and the Governor, which had become a hot topic in the state. The Governor alleges that the chief minister’s office is not responding to her calls, while the chief minister’s office is maintaining absolute silence on this.

On Independence Day, the Governor had invited the chief minister to attend the At Home event at Raj Bhavan. Sources say that the chief minister’s office had informed the Raj Bhavan that the chief minister would arrive at 7 pm.

There were media leaks that KCR would attend the high tea hosted by the Governor and the new evoked curiosity across the state. However, the chief minister had cancelled his visit to the Raj Bhavan at the last minute, raising an eyebrow.

The chief minister’s absence at the Raj Bhavan became a curious talk in the state about the differences between the two top offices.

The Governor and the chief minister have not seen eye to eye for several months. It was only on June 28, this year that the two shared the dais when Justice Ujwal Bhuyan took the oath as the chief justice of Telangana High Court.

‘Politics of hate to hide failures’: KCR hits out at Centre

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday targeted the Narendra Modi government at the Centre saying it is pursuing politics of hate to divide people to hide its failures.

During his speech at Independence Day celebrations at the historic Golconda Fort, the chief minister alleged that those ruling at the Centre were resorting to despicable tactics to divide people.

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, lamented that those holding Constitutional posts were resorting to fascist attacks to destroy the peaceful co-existence which India preserved for generations.

He said this wickedness was causing pain to the freedom fighters.

He alleged that the incompetence of the Central government has impeded the country’s growth. Inflation has gone up and prices of essential commodities are sky-rocketing.

The value of the Indian rupee has dropped to its lowest and the unemployment in the country is at its peak. He said to hide these failures, the rulers at the Centre were doing politics of hate to divide people.

The chief minister said while India is praised world over for its unity in diversity, today’s absurd tendencies were tarnishing India’s image.

KCR also alleged that some divisive forces in the state were also trying to incite communal passions to destroy peace and harmony thereby creating hurdles in the path of development. He said intellectuals, youth, students and everyone need to be alert to foil the conspiracies of these forces.

The chief minister said after battling many crises, Telangana saw rapid growth and progress during the last eight years. The state is peacefully marching ahead on the path of development.

“As the chief minister it is my responsibility and Telangana government’s responsibility to ensure that without ignoring any section, we carry all sections ahead. It is the duty of every citizen of Telangana to protect Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb (confluence of Hindu Muslim culture) praised by Mahatma Gandhi,” he said.

KCR alleged that the Centre is mocking the Constitution which says India is a Union of States.

He accused the Union government of taking decisions on the subjects in the concurrent list without consulting states.

He said the Centre unilaterally introduced agriculture laws which angered the farmers and the Prime Minister himself had to apologise.

KCR said the Centre has burdened poor and middle classes by imposing GST on their basic necessities. He remarked that from milk for children to construction of graveyards, the Centre is indiscriminately imposing taxes.

He also slammed the Modi government for cutting down the share of states in the Central taxes by mobilizing revenues through the backdoor of cesses. He said this would bring down the share of the states during 2022-23 from 41 per cent to 29.6 per cent.

Not stopping at this, the Centre is acting in an autocratic manner to impose several restrictions, harming financial autonomy of states. The Centre is imposing cuts on the debts raised by the states within FRBM limits, he said.

KCR cautions TRS aspirants for Munugodu by-poll

1

Telangana chief minister and TRS supremo, K Chandrasekhar Rao, had warned the party aspirants against staking claim for the party ticket for the impending by-election to the Munugodu Assembly constituency.

The constituency fell vacant following the resignation of Congress MLA Komati Reddy Rajagopal Reddy in protest against his own party leaders. He also accused the state government and the TRS leadership of ignoring development in the state.

Though the Election Commission is yet to notify the vacancy and announce by-election, there is a massive race for the party ticket in the TRS. Even the opposition Congress and the BJP too are facing stiff competition from the aspirants.

TRS chief held a meeting with the party former leader, Venepalli Venkateswara Rao, in the light of impending by-election to the Munugodu. Venkateswara Rao was suspended from the party after the 2019 general elections. However, KCR had called him and held consultations on the by-election.

Meanwhile, KCR also held a brief discussion with Nalgonda MLA Kancharla Bhupal Reddy and his brother Krishna Reddy to take their views on the party prospects and the probable candidate. Krishna Reddy is one among the aspirants for the Munugodu seat in the by-election.

Chief Minister KCR is going slow on selection of the candidate. He is gathering first-hand information from the local leaders and trying to bring all the leaders together.

Interestingly, the ruling TRS had lost two by-elections held in the recent past. The party had lost Dubbaka in November 2020 and Huzurabad in November 2021 to BJP. It is now to be seen whether the TRS would retain this seat or lose it to the BJP as it had lost two seats in the past.

As BJP prepares for upcoming Assembly polls, its top target is KCR

1

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is busy preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh to be held later this year, as well as in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2023, besides other states.

While the BJP is working on a political strategy to help it win above 115 Assembly seats again in its stronghold Gujarat, on the other hand, it is aiming to break the predicted electoral result trends and form the government in Himachal Pradesh for the second time.

The Assembly elections to be held in 2023 are extremely crucial for the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

On the one hand, the saffron party is planning to form governments in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka once again, and at the same time it is working out a strategy to fulfil the idea of a ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ (Congress-free India) by defeating the existing Congress governments in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The BJP is also confident of delivering a severe blow to the KCR government of Telangana during the 2023 Assembly polls.

Gujarat, the native state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has remained a stronghold of the BJP since 1995.

After Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, the BJP never lost any Assembly elections in the state.

However, since Modi came to Delhi as the Prime Minister in 2014, the saffron party has not been able to win elections in the state by a huge margin.

During the five consecutive Gujarat Assembly elections of 1995, 1998, 2002, 2007 and 2012, the BJP has been forming the government in the state by securing between 115 to 127 seats of the total 182.

However, in the 2017 polls, BJP’s seat tally dipped to 100, meaning it won only 99. The Congress had won 77 seats.

After suffering a setback in Gujarat, the BJP changed the Chief Minister as well as revamped the entire state government.

Now the biggest challenge before the saffron party is to form a government in Gujarat for the seventh consecutive time with a resounding majority.

In Himachal Pradesh, no government has won the people’s mandate for ruling for a second term since 1990. It will be a major challenge for the BJP to break this trend and form the government once again this year.

During the 2017 Himachal Assembly polls, the BJP had contested on a total of 68 seats, of which it won 44 securing 48.79 per cent votes. At the same time, the Congress had won 21 seats while securing 41.68 per cent votes.

Himachal Pradesh is the native state of the BJP’s National President J.P. Nadda. Therefore, he makes frequent visits to the hill state and tries to ensure that the electoral atmosphere is in favour of the BJP.

Traditionally in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, till now the main political contest has been between the BJP and the Congress but buoyed by the victory in the recent Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is preparing to contest in these two states with full vigour.

The poll results will prove whether the BJP or the Congress’s electoral chances will face a severe blow with the entry of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP but at present, the BJP does not consider AAP to pose a major political challenge to it in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the BJP does not want to repeat the same political blunders as in 2018 in both Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka which will go to the polls next year.

In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP, which has been winning consecutive Assembly elections since 2003, suffered a major setback as it was ousted from power by the Congress during the 2018 polls.

In 2018, the Congress dealt a political blow to the BJP by forming the government in the state with support of other local parties, winning 114 of the total 230 Assembly seats.

Although after the revolt by Congress-turned-BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, the saffron party formed the government again in Madhya Pradesh in March 2020 vy overthrowing the Congress government from power but the BJP no longer wants to repeat the political mistake made during 2018 in 2023.

The party wants to form the government in the state with an absolute majority in the upcoming assembly elections to be held next year.

There is currently a BJP government in Karnataka too, but in 2018 the BJP could not form the government in the state.

In the 2018 Assembly elections, out of the total 223 seats in the state, BJP had won 104 seats but the then Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa could not prove a majority in the Assembly.

That year, the Congress, which won 78 seats in Karnataka, extended its support to the JD(S), which had only won 37 seats and H.D. Kumaraswamy was made the Chief Minister. But only 14 months later, the Kumaraswamy government collapsed and BJP’s Yediyurappa again became the state Chief Minister.

Due to the rapidly changing political situation in the state, the BJP decided to change the existing Chief Minister and in July 2021, Yeddyurappa was replaced by Basavaraj Bommai.

In order to realise the ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ slogan, the BJP is also working on a strategy to oust the Congress from power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2023.

During the 2018 Rajasthan elections, out of a total of 200 seats, Congress had won 100 seats and BJP 73.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot formed the government in Rajasthan with the help of BSP and other local parties and has proved successful so far in saving his government from collapse despite Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot’s attempts to revolt against the Gehlot government.

During the 2018 Assembly elections, on a total 90 seats in Chhattisgarh, Congress had won 68 and BJP 15. After securing a thumping victory in the state, Congress made Bhupesh Baghel the Chief Minister. While Gehlot is considered close to interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Baghel is considered close to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The Telangana Assembly election scheduled for 2023 will be a big litmus test for the BJP’s dream of “Mission South India”.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) formed the government during the 2018 Assembly elections by winning a record 88 seats of the total 119 and K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCRm became the Chief Minister.

In this election, Congress had won 19, AIMIM seven, TDP two and BJP only one seat, but in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP, which won four out of 17 seats in the state, continues to strengthen its political base in Telangana.

The saffron party is feeling confident about the victory secured in local body polls and recently sent a clear political message to the ruling TRS government by holding its national executive meeting in Telangana which shows its intent to strengthen its base in the state in the coming years.

The BJP has made its intention clear this week by appointing skilled party strategist Sunil Bansal, who led the party to victory in recent Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, as the party’s National General Secretary, by giving him the responsibility of state in-charge of West Bengal, Odisha as well as Telangana.

Muharram symbolises supreme sacrifice: Telangana CM

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that Muharram symbolises supreme sacrifice and tolerance.

He noted that the Peer Panja (cutouts of hands) procession, which marks sacrifice, are being taken up by Muslims as well as Hindus across the state.

Chief Minister KCR said in a message that irrespective of religions, Muharram gives the message of unity, brotherhood and ‘Ganga-Jamuna Tezjeeb’ between Hindu and Muslims communities.

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, in her message, noted that Muharram symbolises the spirit of sacrifice which is placed above all the virtues of mankind.

Muharram commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Holy Prophet, who sacrificed his life at the altar of true belief, she said.

“Remembrance of graciousness and sacrifice is the true meaning of Muharram. Let us emulate the spirit of Muharram which embodies humanism which is central to Islam. The ideals of sacrifice, peace and justice of Muharram may continue to inspire us,” she added.

KCR has no moral courage to face Modi, says T’gana BJP chief

0

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has no moral courage to face Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hence he is boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting with lame-duck excuses.

Sanjay lashed out at KCR for his remarks made at the press conference. He said if the chief minister was really worried about the state, he could have raised the concern at the meeting. He said KCR’s decision to boycott the meeting amounted to insulting democratic institutions.

Sanjay said KCR never showed interest in going to official meetings during the last eight years. The BJP leader remarked that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president visits Delhi only for political benefit and to meet leaders of political parties but never went there for the sake of people.

“KCR is saying that he is boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting but the days are not far when people of Telangana will boycott him,” he said.

Reacting to KCR’s remarks, Sanjay said the chief minister was giving a lecture on the history of Planning Commission, co-operative federalism and democratic spirit but not doing his duty.

Stating there is a shortage of teachers in the educational institutions in Telangana, he advised the KCR to go and give lectures there on how he failed as the chief minister.

The BJP leader said before speaking on the NPAs of companies in the country, KCR should explain why industries are getting shut down in Hyderabad.

He said it was ironic that the chief minister was speaking about imports from other countries when his government is unable to make Bathukamma sarees in Telangana and is sourcing the same from Surat.

Bandi Sanjay also wanted to know why KCR imported furniture for Pragati Bhavan (official residence of Chief Minister) from China.

Alleging that KCR is responsible for suicides of farmers, weavers, intermediate students, unemployed and employees, the BJP leader said it was shameful that he is criticising the Centre.

Sanjay also referred to KCR’s remark that he stayed in Delhi for 5 days and forced the Centre to allow the state to raise debt of Rs 10,000 crore.

“KCR said that last year, the Centre did not give more than Rs 5,000 crore to the state. If the Centre had really not provided the funds, what was he doing for one year,” he asked

The BJP state chief also asked if KCR will apologise in Assembly if proved that Centre had given more than Rs 5,000 crore.

Sanjay remarked that NITI Aayog doesn’t exclusively work for KCR and only gives strategic advice on policy issues to make the economy strong.

Telangana CM KCR to boycott NITI Aayog meeting

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to boycott NITI Aayog meeting on Sunday as a mark of protest against the Central government’s “discriminatory attitude” towards the states.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, he wrote that the Centre is not treating states as equal partners in collective effort to make India a strong and developed country.

The seventh Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog is scheduled to be held in Delhi on Sunday.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, wrote that India as a nation can develop only when the states develop, and strong and economically vibrant states alone can make India a strong country.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief also addressed a news conference, explaining the reasons for staying away from the meeting and launching a bitter attack on the Centre.

He alleged that because of lack of planning and lack of cooperative federalism, the county is passing through a most difficult phase with unprecedented problems of falling rupee values, high inflation, skyrocketing prices and increasing unemployment coupled with low economic growth.

“These issues impact people’s lives and are causing a lot of concern to the nation. But these are not discussed in NITI Aayog meetings. I find the Union government a silent spectator to this emerging serious scenario, often resorting to jugglery of words playing on people’s emotions,” the CM wrote.

He also referred to the irresponsible utterances of some leaders in high positions on use of bulldozers, encounter killings, 80:20 ratios and references with religious undertones. Noting that these were disrupting the communal harmony and social fabric of the nation, besides inviting international criticism, he found fault with the Union government for not taking any action to control the situation.

KCR also lashed out at the Centre for treating borrowings of state PSUs for their capital needs as state government borrowings. He said this had put brakes on the progress of Telangana and many other states. “This discrimination is practiced against the states, without any compunction, even while the government of India resorts to indiscriminate open market borrowings,” he wrote.

Recalling that NITI Aayog was started with an objective of cooperative federalism, he said after seven years of functioning, it is now clear that this explicit objective was observed more in breach. He alleged that the federal structure of India is being systematically eroded by some deliberate actions by the Centre.

“These developments are very much discouraging to trailblazing states like Telangana. The blatant discrimination against some states even in the legitimate functions assigned to them in the Constitution leaves much to be desired.”

He cited changing the All India Services (AIS) rules to the disadvantage of states, inability of Centre as an arbiter and facilitator in resolving interstate water disputes as some glaring instances of Centre working against the spirit of cooperative federalism.

“The propensity of the Union government to levy cess as an indirect tax is depriving states of their legitimate share in tax revenues. Such unilateral and irresponsible policies of Government of India, without taking into consideration, the state’s interests, have nudged the country away from the cooperative federalism, the tenet enshrined in the Indian Constitution is deliberately disregarded, which is evident from the increasing penchant for bringing legislations unilaterally in critical areas of agriculture, electricity etc. The one-sided decision to bring the new farm laws and the so-called power sector reforms are only a few examples,” reads the letter.

KCR expressed anguish over the Centre ignoring important recommendations of NITI Aayog. He pointed out that a major recommendation of a group of Chief Ministers constituted by it was that states should be given flexibility to design or modify the schemes based on their needs and conditions to ensure maximum benefit to the people.

He recalled that in 2016, NITI Ayog had recommended a grant of Rs 5,000 crore for Mission Kakatiya to restore minor irrigation tanks in Telangana. Another recommendation was to provide a central assistance of Rs 19,205 crore for Mission Bhagiratha, a pioneering scheme in the country, which has been completed in Telangana, to provide drinking water to every household in the state.

He said the Centre not only ignored the recommendations but also did not release any money for the schemes, and slammed it for unabashedly claiming that Telangana is one of the states which provides drinking water to every household under the banner of Jal Jeevan Mission, a central scheme.
