Sensational deal for Vijay’s Next Film

Tamil Superstar Vijay is done with the shoot of Varisu, a family entertainer helmed by Vamshi Paidipally. This film releases for Sankranthi 2023. The actor gave his nod for Lokesh Kanagaraj and the project was planned to commence shoot in November but it got delayed as Vijay was occupied with the shoot of Varisu. The film is carrying terrific expectations and it is said to be a stylish action entertainer. The makers sealed a record deal and this is the highest for any South Indian film. The digital rights of this untitled film are sold for Netflix for a record price of Rs 160 crores. The deal includes the digital deal for all the languages.

Lokesh Kanagaraj delivered a massive blockbuster like Vikram this year and Vijay is on a success streak if his last film Beast is excluded. Netflix sealed the deal for a record price. Trisha is the leading lady and this film also has several actors essaying crucial roles. There are reports that Sanjay Dutt and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in other prominent roles. The film is expected to have a pan-Indian release next year.

Sankranthi Releases: Over budget for all three Films

Three films Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy and Vijay’s Varisu are releasing during the Sankranthi holiday season. All the three films are in the final stages of shoot with one month left for release. Vijay who allocates 80 days (maximum) per film has shot for more than 120 days. The patchwork of Varisu is still pending and it is expected to complete before December 10th. Vamshi Paidipally who is known to shoot his films lavishly went overboard when it comes to the final budget. There was a 20 percent increase in the planned budget of Varisu.

Veerasimha Reddy is sure a nightmare for the production house Mythri Movie Makers. Balakrishna who is quite disciplined on the sets has shot for over 140 days for this actioner. Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya too is not completed on the planned budget. The working days crossed 150 and the songs are currently shot in Greece. The budgets of all the three Sankranthi releases went over board. The non-theatrical deals fetched good amounts for all the three films. The theatrical deals (Telugu) for all the Sankranthi releases will be finalized very soon. The release dates of Waltair Veerayya, Veerasimha Reddy and Varisu will be announced soon.

Ranjithame from Vaarasudu: Vijay offers a Treat

Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu will have a record release in Telugu as Vaarasudu. The first sinle Ranjithame is a smashing hit in Tamil. The Telugu song of Ranjithame is out now and it is a mass number with enough number of impressive dance moves from Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna. Rashmika looks sizzling while Vijay dances with utmost ease in the mass number. Three lavish sets are erected for the song. The Telugu version of Ranjithame is crooned by Anurag Kulkarni and Manasi. Thaman scored the music and Ramajogaiah Sastry penned the lyrics. Ranjithame is an impressive mass number from the team of Vaarasudu.

The shoot of the film reached the final stages and is happening in Chennai. Vamshi Paidipally is the director and Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Srikanth, Sangeetha and others played prominent roles. Vaarasudu is an action-packed mass entertainer that is made on a big-budget. Dil Raju is the producer and the film is gearing up for Sankranthi 2023 release.

Top producer Dil Raju is left in a spot because of the Varisu controversy. He was cornered by the filmmakers who suffered badly when they released dubbing films. Telugu Producers Council issued a statement asking everyone to allocate theatres for straight Telugu films during the Sankranthi season. Dil Raju is staying calm and is going ahead with his work. Mega producer Allu Aravind came out to support Dil Raju. During his recent media interaction, Allu Aravind was asked about Telugu fraternity announcing a ban on Vijay’s Varisu. Allu Aravind commented saying that it will not happen for sure.

With movies from all the languages faring well across the country, Allu Aravind hinted that the audience will always watch good content. He is releasing Varun Dhawan’s Thodelu in Telugu states. Allu Aravind released Kannada sensational film Kantara across the Telugu states and the film was declared as a blockbuster. He expressed his confidence on the success of Thodelu. Varisu controversy takes a new Turn

Top Tollywood producer Dil Raju has been facing the heat because of his upcoming movie Varisu. Dil Raju himself called it a Tamil film during the shoot and the Telugu Producers Council asked the producer to allocate theatres for straight Telugu movies like Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha Reddy. Dil Raju has been tightlipped about the issue and he is busy planning a wide release for Vaarasudu across the Telugu states. The exhibitors too are quite interested to screen Telugu films instead of Vaarasudu.

The Tamil directors and producers are now furious over the move of the Telugu Producers Council. They are in plans to conduct a meeting on November 22nd to discuss about the issue. They feel that Telugu films are given enough number of screens in Tamil Nadu and they are keen to stall the release of Telugu films in the future if Varisu release comes to a halt in Telugu. The Tamil Film Producers will meet to discuss and take a call about the issue. Varisu controversy is taking a new turn. All the three films Waltair Veerayya, Veerasimha Reddy and Varisu are in the final stages of shoot.

Varisu / Vaarasudu Overseas Rights goes for a record price

Varisu / Varasudu Overseas Rights have been sold for an All-Time Record price for a Kollywood film. The film has been sold for 38 cr (4.6 Million USD) in the Overseas region which is the highest ever beating Darbar (35 Cr). It needs to collect at least 10 Million gross in the Overseas markets to achieve breakeven for the buyer. Films like 2.0, and PS-1 are own release by the producers.

Tamil market Overseas is not just limited to US/AUS/UK/Gulf like Telugu films as they have a wider population in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, France/Europe, etc.

Vijay’s previous films like Mersal, and Bigil have collected more than 10 Million gross in the Overseas markets. So the recovery isn’t difficult with positive word of mouth for the film.

Record price for Vijay’s Varisu Theatrical Rights

Tamil actor Vijay is in terrific form and the actor is almost done with the shoot of his upcoming movie Varisu, a bilingual directed by Vamshi Paidipally which is a family entertainer. Almost all the deals for the film are closed. The theatrical rights of Varisu are sold for record prices. The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights are sold for Rs 72-75 crores for Seven Screen Studio. The overseas rights of the film are sold for Phars Films for a price of Rs 38 crores which is huge. The film’s producer Dil Raju will release the film on his own in Telugu.

The film is announced for Pongal 2023 release. The film is made on a budget of Rs 250 crores and the entire theatrical, non-theatrical rights fetched close to Rs 280 crores. This doesn’t include the Telugu theatrical rights. Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, Sarathkumar are playing the lead roles in Varisu. Dil Raju is the producer and Thaman is the music composer. Varisu is carrying good expectations.

Major Reshuffle in Release Dates

After the Tollywood producers stalled the shoots for the entire month of August, the schedules and the shoots of several films are pushed. Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming movie directed by Gopichand Malineni is planned for December 2nd release and the film may not make up for the date. The new date will be finalized soon. Vijay Deverakonda’s Kushi is announced for December 23rd release but the shoot of the film is kept on hold due to Samantha. There are talks that the film is now pushed to summer 2023. Akhil’s big-budget attempt Agent too was speculated to release during Christmas. With some extensive post-production work involved, the film will not release this year.

Vijay and Vamshi Paidipally’s film Vaarasudu is announced for Sankranthi 2023 release. Vijay is unhappy with the delay in the shoot already. He allocated 80 days for the film but he shot for 120 days. There is pending shoot and the makers are working hard to complete the shoot at the earliest. Several other big budget films are delayed due to various reasons. The August dates are wasted for all the top actors and the character actors are trying hard to accommodate them for various films. For now, there is a major reshuffle in the Telugu releases in the coming months.
