Stylish Star Allu Arjun along with ruling the big screen with back to back hit movies creating new records for himself has made a record on the small screen too. As per the official reports, Allu Arjun attained record-breaking TRP rating for his DJ movie aired on MAA television channel. Duvvada Jagannadham has delivered 21.7 TRP rating for its tv premier and it is highest for the Allu Arjun film in small screen till date.

After Baahbali’s 23 TRP rating and Baahubai 2’s 22.7 TRP rating, its DJ only which came close to the big movie with 21.7 TRP rating. Even Varun Tej’s Fidaa reached 21 TRP but it falls short with few points. In the recent festival release, big tv premier of big hero’s did not reach the expectations. Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu delivers 12.2 TRP’s, Anushka’s Rudhrama Devi got 8.6 TRP’s and Rana’s Nene Raju Nene Mantri attained 13.4 TRP’s respectively. Allu Arjun – Hari Shankar’s Duvvada jagannadham has ended up it’s worldwide run with a distributor share of 70.91 Cr. Though the film had collected huge amounts of shares, due to huge prices it was sold for, ended up as a loss venture for all distributors ( Except own release Nizam, Uttarandhra & Krishna ). Even in UA & Krishna the final business is below expectations. Best performing are for the film is Nizam as it has emerged as the highest grosser for the hero surpassing his previous film Sarrainodu which had collected 19.20 Cr share. It is the 6th film to cross 20cr mark in Nizam. Final verdict of the film is Average and now All Arjun becomes 2nd hero after Prabhas to have 2 films to collect more than 70 cr worldwide share. Midas touch producer Dil Raju is in a happy space at present. His latest release Fidaa, starring Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi, is running with packed houses in all areas. The film got unanimous thumbs up from critics and audience alike. Surely, the film will attain super hit status by the end of the first weekend and will emerge as the biggest hit in Varun Tej’s career.

Fidaa is the fourth release of 2017 for Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations. Earlier this year, Shatamanam Bhavati, which released for Sankranthi amidst tough competition, generated solid revenues and emerged as one of the notable hits in the first half of 2017. Dil Raju followed it up with a commercial entertainer Nenu Local, starring Nani in the lead, which had a strong run at the box office ensuring profits for all parties involved.

Dil Raju’s third release of the year, Duvvada Jagannadham which released in June managed only a lukewarm response at the box office. But, the strong pre release business helped him bag good profits.

Now, Fidaa’s sensational openings and the glowing word of mouth hint that Dil Raju is on track for one more hit this year. Needless to say, the star producer having a dream year with back to back money spinning movies.

Duvvada Jagannadham, an Allu Arjun starrer that was marred by myriad controversies both before and after release, has almost ended its theatrical run. While the film’s domestic collections are ‘questionable’, it has surely left deep holes in the pockets of overseas distributor.

According to our internal sources, DJ producer Dil Raju has agreed to compensate the film’s overseas distributor, BlueSky Cinemas by giving him the overseas rights of his next film, Natural Star Nani’s ‘MCA’ for a very reasonable price. He also promised to sell the overseas rights of his future productions also to the same distributor. This is a very humane gesture from Dil Raju.

Considering that Nani is no less than a star hero in Overseas, the distributor may be at peace now hoping to recover the losses incurred by DJ with MCA. The actor’s latest release, ‘Ninnu Kori’ has once again proved that his films are money spinners in overseas.

In fact, Dil Raju’s immediate next release, ‘Fidaa’ is also being released by BlueSky Cinemas. The brand names of Raju and Sekhar Kammula, and the genre are advantages for this Varun Tej starrer in overseas.

While Stylish star Allu Arjun allegedly got into the bad books of only Pawan Kalyan’s fans with the infamous ‘Cheppanu Brother’ remark during ‘Sarrainodu’, he has unfortunately become a soft target of ‘Media’ with DJ.

Even though Allu Arjun had his share of outburst against media and review writers, it was mainly director Harish Shankar, who invited the wrath of media with his childishly silly talk. In every public meeting and media interview, be it in India or USA, the very-outspoken director hasn’t held back and blamed review writers and websites for downplaying the merits of his film, ‘Duvvada Jagannadham’. He allegedly held review writers responsible for the poor show of DJ in overseas.

People wonder why Harish Shankar, who is a regular on Twitter, isn’t realizing that ‘Word of Mouth’ for DJ on social media was much worse than the reviews. Actually, he is aware of the negative trend for DJ on Twitter, which is evident from his action of blocking significant number of people on Twitter post the release of DJ. He is aware of the negative vibes for DJ on Social media but he isn’t acknowledging it in open.

Since he can’t put a lid on netizens’ true opinions, he is allegedly attacking media instead. The director of DJ may not be realizing that he is making matters worse for not just him but also for Allu Arjun. People may forget Harish’s asinine acts after a while but Bunny may have to carry the bad reputation earned for him by his DJ director.

Allu Arjun’s latest release ‘Duvvada Jagannadham’, which was released on June 23 amidst very high expectations, has taken a terrific start at box office. The film however has significantly slowed after first week’s run and is expected to end up as an average film in the domestic market. On the other hand, DJ is a huge failure in overseas.

Ever since DJ team has landed in the US to promote the film, they are repeatedly talking about Piracy and Reviews in every public meeting and media interview. It appears as if they are blaming piracy and negative reviews the reason for DJ underperforming in overseas. They have allegedly lectured overseas audiences to not encourage piracy and critics to respect Telugu cinema, primarily DJ.

If overseas audience depend so much on piracy then films like Pelli Choopulu, Nani starrers, A..Aa and many others wouldn’t have performed better here than in the Telugu states. In the end, ‘Content’ matters, and a film with strong content can emerge victorious despite ‘Piracy’, which can dent a maximum of 5 percent of
films’ revenue.

Instead of allegedly lecturing audiences (piracy) and critics (reviews), DJ team should realize that they had dished out a mundane product which failed to evoke audience’ interest. DJ team should gracefully accept the reality and try to produce better films in future rather than allegedly hiding their film’s drawbacks under the guise of piracy.

My next will be a concept-based film: Harish Shankar

Basking in the success of Telugu action-drama “Duvvada Jagannadham”, director Harish Shankar says his next yet-untitled outing in the language will be a concept-based film.

“I just have an idea. It will be a concept-based film about the emotional conflict in romance. I haven’t started writing yet and I will make an official announcement when the time is right,” Harish told IANS.

Asked if he has finalised the cast in his mind, he said: “It’s too early to think about the cast. I let my script choose my actors. It’s time consuming and you have to go with the film.”

His latest film “Duvvada Jagannadham”, starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde, is making a killing at the box office.

In just a week since its release, the film grossed over Rs 100 crore, according to its makers.

The film, produced by Dil Raju, marked the first-time collaboration of Harish and Arjun.

Harish is currently touring theatres in US, greeting and thanking fans for their overwhelming response.

Allu Arjun who is generally good at playing to the galleries, has disappointed NRIs in his maiden USA trip. Bunny has agreed to attend NATS 2017 event on the sidelines of promoting his recent release DJ in the US. On saturday night’s prime time event at the Chicago convention, in which Allu Arjun was supposed to be the center of attraction , things finally ended up as a huge disappointment for 4,000 audience who anticipated some interaction and fun moments with the stylish star.

In general,any celebrity who attends such large conventions as guests, utilize the opportunity to build PR with NRI families.These celebrities spend some quality time interacting with kids,families and fans. For prime time events these celebs spend atleast few hours at the stage. For some unknown reasons Allu Arjun did not follow these minimum courtesy ones. As per sources, conference organizers had very difficult time convincing Allu Arjun to get on the stage as he locked himself in the hotel room ( which is also integral part of convention center) till 10:15 PM. Only at 10:30PM he came on to the NATS stage and spent only 25 minutes.During his very short stay on the stage, he talked primarily about piracy of DJ and negative reviews. He hardly made an effort to talk wholeheartedly with NRIs, who had been waiting for him for several hours. ‘His nonchalant behaviour disappointed us big time’ lamented an NRI family who came to NATS only to see him.

Previous to this event , on Friday night ‘Meet & greet with DJ ‘ event was arranged in New Jersey by DJ producers/distributor. That was a low attendance event in which 150 people participated, reportedly Allu Arjun was cool in that event.

However , he was unfriendly at Chicago NATS event We’re not sure what went wrong between organizers and Allu arjun. When questioned “Even though we took extreme care of him, for some reason he was not in the zone” wondered a NRI involved closely in the conference operations.In the recent times, we have seen Telugu actors such as Ram Charan Tej, Kalyanram Nandamuri etc making extra efforts to bond with NRIs. Allu Arjun missed one such opportunity.

In the Thank You meet held in Hyderabad by the makers of Allu Arjun’s ‘Duvvada Jagannatham’, the core team, especially director Harish Shankar and Allu Arjun cried foul on piracy and negative reviews. They had even lodged an official complaint against piracy of their film.

The venue has changed, but their laments haven’t. Allu Arjun, Dil Raju and Harish Shankar who have attended the NATS function in Chicago, have unequivocally talked about how piracy and negative reviews affect films such as DJ. They appealed the attendees and to whoever that is watching the function to not encourage piracy and watch DJ and other such Telugu films in theatres only.

Well, the Team DJ has conveniently ignored the ridiculous high prices set for tickets of DJ. At a time when tickets of relatively bigger Hindi and English movies are priced at $8-10, tickets of sub par Telugu movies are priced at $16-20. This trend obviously discourages people from going to theatres.

High ticket price is arguably the most probable reason for piracy. Even though piracy mongers resort to piracy, audiences don’t encourage it if they have the feasibility of watching those movies in theatres at reasonable prices. People rely on piracy mostly when the makers fix exorbitant prices for tickets. Makers should first understand this aspect and make amends rather than blame audiences for encouraging piracy.

DJ Overseas, Duvvada Jagannadham Overseas

Allu Arjun’s latest entertainer Duvvada Jagannadham, which amassed 100 Crores gross worldwide in the first week, has touched another milestone by the end of second Friday. The film has entered the million dollar club in overseas by collecting $ 20K on the second Friday, taking the total to $ 1.02M.

After taking a good start in overseas with a $542K haul on the first day( including premieres) , DJ stumbled towards the weekend and managed a $ 880K haul in the first weekend. Taking advantage of the T-Mobile offer, the film collected a decent $ 66K on Monday. But, the collections have nosedived throughout the second week.

Trade circles predict that the overseas buyers will incur considerable losses in all areas as the film was sold for at a hefty price. This is the third film in Allu Arjun’s career to hit the million dollar club after Race Gurram ($ 1.42 M) and Son of Satyamurthy ($ 1.25M).

The Telangana state government issued a G.O. on Monday night, allowing hike in the ticket prices. As per new rates, Single screen A.C. theatres in Hyderabad metro area are allowed to sell at 120 Rupees, Multiplexes are allowed at Rs. 200-300.

Even for ‘Bahubali-2’ there was no ticket price hike in Telangana region, but the government allowed an extra show per day. Now, finally in view of upcoming GST tax system, government has allowed ticket price hike.

Telugu film Duvvada Jagannadham starring Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde, opened its overseas box office account with a promising $ 542K on its first day (including Thursday premiers). This is the best opener in overseas for Allu Arjun. The action comedy had a decent Saturday with $ 229K taking the total past $ 750K, but the Sunday collections are not so encouraging.

As per the latest trade reports, DJ collected close to $ 63K by Sunday night and might only add a few more by the end of the day. However, the film has been performing comparatively better than Salman Khan’s Tube Light which is witnessing dull response in overseas. DJ might cross the one million mark by the end of second weekend. Nevertheless, it might end up as a loss venture for the overseas buyers.

The lackluster narration and a poor second half disappointed the audience, but Allu Arjun’s performance and Pooja Hegde’s glamour quotient are the saving grace for the film.
