Prof Nageshwar : Sardar Patel Statue of Unity , Mr Modi, Please answer these questions.

2

1. The world’s tallest statue of India’s iron man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is appropriately called as Statue of Unity as he was responsible for merger of about 500 princely states into Indian union. The first home minister of India certainly deserves all praise for this unparalleled task accomplished with such meticulous effort. But, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to unite India’s political spectra for the unveiling of the statue. No other party leader was even invited. It was all BJP affair though the statue was constructed by a trust liberally funded by the government owned public sector units. Statue of Unity inaugurated amidst unprecedented disunity

2. Sardar Patel will no longer enjoy the prestige and the privilege as someone on whose name the world’s tallest statue is. This statue is 182 metres long. By 2021 , 212 metre statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji will come up. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister now talks of erecting the statue of Lord Rama. Many more state governments run by the regional parties may come up with more statue to remember their own icons. We already had the experience of Mayawati. Perhaps in a decade or two India may have the dubious distinction of having highest number of tall statues.

3. While dedicating the statue to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the towering statue as ‘a symbol of our engineering and technical prowess’. It is true, we have accomplished plastic surgery in the form of Lord Ganesha . We had internet during Mahabharat times as Sanjaya using the internet search engine saw the war to narrate it to Dhritarashtra . Ancient India mastered civil aviation as Ramayana talks about Pushpaka Vimana. But we never had such gigantic statues during Treta Yuga or Dvapara Yuga .

But , the Prime minister of modern India should realise that producing a laptop at a price of less than Rs 5000 or technology that can provide solar powered drinking water at a pittance is much greater engineering feat than constructing a statue.

4. The central government claims that it has not funded the statue construction. Can there be any bigger lie than this as oil PSU’s mainly funded it. Why not Mukesh Ambani or Gautam Adani, the proud Gujarati industrialists find it necessary to finance this grand project of Sardar Patel. Even the great nationalist Baba Ramdev who owns business worth 10,000 crore annual revenue did not contribute even a pittance to such a great nationalistic act.

5. Narendra Modi government collected around Rs. 7.5 lakh cores in the last four years in the form of taxes on petroleum products on the pretext that oil PSUs are bleeding. But, these public owned oil companies could contribute so much for the construction of statues under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). But do they not have Consumer Social Responsibility .

6. The statue project is also portrayed as a symbol of Indian nationalism. But, the government that swears in the name of Make in India imported micro panels of bronze from China .

7. Sardar Patel deserves honour . But why not such a unique honour bestowed on the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi who was also incidentally born in Gujarat.

8. Sardar Patel statue is projected as tourism project to counter the criticism of wasteful expenditure . If it is only tourism project, why not such a project be given to Andhra Pradesh which is demanding special status or to Hyderabad which was integrated into Indian union by none other than Sardar Patel .

Defamation complaint against Shashi Tharoor for ‘Scorpion’ remark on Modi

0

It is known news that politician, writer, former career international diplomat and former union minister Shashi Tharoor made controversial comments on prime minister Narendra Modi by calling him “Scorpion On Shivling”.( https://www.telugu360.com/pm-modi-scorpion-on-shivling-says-shashi-tharoor/ ). BJP leader Rajeev Babbar now filed defamation complaint against Shashi Tharoor for ‘Scorpion’ remark on Modi.

Earlier, speaking at an event in Bengaluru, Shashi Tharoor said that RSS is also fed up with Modi but they can’t curb him as RSS sees Modi like a Scorpion sitting on a Shivling, whom you cannot move with your hand nor you can hit it with a chappal. Now Delhi BJP leader Rajeev Babbar alleged that Tharoor with “mala fide intention made the statement which is not only abuse of the Hindu deity but also defamatory”. Rajeev Babbar filed defamation complaint and ”The speech of the accused had lowered down the credit and image of the complainant. The complainant was hurt and anguished as the intentional, defamatory and mischievous statement of the accused has lowered the reputation of the complainant in the eyes of others present there,” the complaint said.

Rajeev Babbar added that Tharoor “deliberately did this malicious act, intending to outrage religious feeling of Lord Shiva devotees by insulting their religious believes”. The complaint has been filed under Sections 499 and 500 of IPC relating to defamation. If convicted, Tharoor may face a maximum punishment of two years in jail.

Modi game plan backfires: Rafale scam and CBI probe

0

BJP has received a big blow at national level and the party is all set to face greater embarrassment ahead of 2019 general elections. The Rs. 59,000-crore Rafale jet fighter deal with France has gone out of control. To cover up the multi-crore scam, PM Modi tried to use his ‘Gujarat model’ of using his favourite officers in CBI but this has backfired bitterly leading to loss of prestige of CBI and increased opposition attacks.

With the latest controversies, BJP now carries greater blame for not only mishandling Rafale deal but also damaging the reputation of the prestigious Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). All this happened after CBI Director Alok Verma did not allow Modi’s favourite officer Rakesh Asthana to use his good office as CBI special director to harass CMs and leaders of opposition parties across the country at the behest of BJP. The conflict reached such a point that Alok was almost removed from his post overnight and he approached Supreme Court.

Congress National President Rahul Gandhi says Alok was nearly thrown out of CBI Director post because he tried to investigate the Rafale scam following complaints given by noted advocate Prashant Bhushan and others. Rafale scam and CBI issue are now hanging around the neck of BJP more than Modi. This has become a matter for hot TV debates in Telugu states. TDP leaders are stepping up their attack over Rafale deal and CBI mishandling by Modi government.

TDP is happy that it can now convince people that Modi and BJP are deliberately forcing IT and CBI officials to conduct raids against political opponents in AP.

Rahul’s call to voters to oust KCR and Modi

0

Congress National President Rahul Gandhi addressed a public meeting at Bhainsa in Nirmal area in Adilabad district today as part of his election campaign for December elections in Telangana.

He made a scathing attack on both the KCR government in the state and at the Modi government at the Centre. He made a fervent appeal to voters cutting across all sections of society to oust KCR and Modi from power in the coming 2018 early polls and later 2019 general elections.

Strongly criticising KCR in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi said that TRS chief has promised to place authority in the hands of a dalit but later he brought ‘family rule’ in the state by deceiving the poorer sections. It is KCR’s family that is responsible for unchecked corruption in Telangana now which is causing lot of problems to ordinary people, he said.

Rahul said KCR had failed to fulfil his promise of giving one job per household, three acres land to the poor families, 12 per cent reservation to muslims minorities, 2 crore jobs per year in the state and double bedroom flats for poor.

Rahul accused PM Modi of taking a U-turn in his well-known assurance to work like a watchdog for the people but instead the prime minister is acting as a watchdog to serve corporate heads. The Congress President said Modi has passed benefits worth Rs. 30,000 crore to his friend Anil Ambani. Modi would have to bear the entire blame for purchasing each jet fighter at Rs. 1,600 cr as against its original cost of Rs. 548 that reflected lack of responsibility to people’s money, Rahul said.

KCR afraid to face Modi wave, says Amit Shah

0

BJP National President Amit Shah addressed his party’s ‘Samarabheri’ (battle cry) public meeting at Karimnagar town on Wednesday when he asserted that KCR opted for early elections in 2018 in order to avoid facing massive Modi wave that will sweep across the country in 2019 general polls.

Kickstarting his party election campaign, Amit Shah said KCR had failed to fulfill all the 150 promises he made to the Telangana people for the past four years which included that of making a dalit chief minister.

“KCR will not make any dalit CM. What he wants is to put his son or daughter in the CM chair,” Amit Shad said and added that TRS had failed on many fronts like creation of one lakh jobs, allotment of 3 acres land for each dalit family, construction of double bed-room houses for poor and protection of martyrs’ families.

Making an indirect attack on Congress, Amit Shah said Sonia Gandhi had insulted Telangana’s son of soil and former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao by not allowing his body to be placed in Congress party office for paying respects.

Shah said that Narasimha Rao’s body was even left half burnt as the funeral pyre was not properly set afire which was enough to show how Congress leadership shamed PV’s memory.

Amit Shah asked Telangana people to choose whether to promote ‘Make in India’ campaign under Modi leadership or to join anti-BJP forces only to cause damage to India. He called upon people to defeat forces like Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen.

Vow for 2019: TDP against Modi as PM

0

Seething with anger, TDP leaders are now swearing and vowing to work for the sole purpose of dethroning Narendra Modi and preventing from getting re-elected as Prime Minister for the second consecutive term in 2019 general elections.

TDP MP Galla Jayadev emphatically said their party would closely work with all those parties at national level that were determined to defeat BJP and thereby spoil Modi’s bid for a second term.

Jayadev observed that AP people would suffer more in coming years and there would be no scope for development and irrigation projects in the new state, if Modi becomes PM once again in the country.

He said that they would work for forming a strong alliance with all smaller and bigger anti-Modi parties under the instructions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and keeping in view the need for protecting the interests of future generations of AP state.

TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna said Friday’s Income Tax raids were conducted at the orders of BJP leaders and the raids were mainly aimed at TDP-affiliated industrialists and leaders like Beeda Masthan Rao and Pothula Rama Rao and others.

Venkanna said that BJP was conspiring against AP state as a whole considering the fact that it was sending IT and ED officials to create a fear psychosis so as to disturb the positive investment climate created in the new state by Chandrababu Naidu.

TDP MP Konakalla Narayana said that their party would hit back strongly at BJP for conducting IT raids and that they would make all efforts to form a viable and stable alternative to Modi’s leadership at the Centre.

KCR under Modi magic spell: AP CM

0

TDP top leadership is now taking a closer look at the political scenario in Twin Telugu states ahead of the early elections in Telangana this year-end.

During Wednesday’s deliberations with ministers and senior leaders, CM Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have passed serious comments against the TRS party’s U-Turn in its political strategies. KCR has earlier turned down TDP’s request for working together so that it would help bring in greater mutual development in Twin states.

Talking about this issue, Naidu at a meeting in Amaravati is said to have commented that KCR is apparently under the magic spell of Prime Minister Modi which is the reason why TRS is taking an increasingly anti-TDP and anti-AP stand. There are also chances of a joint strategy of BJP and TRS as regards early polls in Telangana. They may be thinking of completing the elections early there so as to fully focus on damaging TDP by making joint efforts in AP elections later. Saying these words, Chandrababu has cautioned seniors to be more alert in the coming days.

A minister has said that the recent request of Telangana government to Centre to take up investigation into Vote-for-Note case is also part of the BJP-TRS joint strategies.

The meeting also discussed issue of reports that Chandrababu may be a contender for Prime Minister post in 2019 elections because of his playing key role in national politics. Talking about this, Mr. Naidu told the ministers and spokespersons not to talk about such matters anywhere as the main task should be to work carefully and bring together a strong alliance to bring down BJP at the Centre.

Telangana elections have raised political temperatures in AP as well. Rival parties are keen to change their strategies to suit emerging situation. TDP is obviously in the forefront of this exercise.

Early elections: KCR- Modi quid pro quo?

0

On 6th September, KCR dissolved Telangana cabinet and announced they will be going for early elections. He even announced, when the elections will happen and when the next government will form.

Astrology or numerology or any other –logy?

Many people wondered why KCR is going for early elections while he had nine more months to be in the government. Some proposed that it might be because of KCR belief in astrology and as per the astrologer he will have good time until January 2019 and after that his time is not that good. Some others predicted that it is not just astrology but also numerology. As he consider 6 as his lucky number, he announced dissolving of government on 6th and he announced 105 MLA candidates (total of this also is 6) . They even argued that, the time KCR met governor, the time governor accepted his request all have one thing in common – that is total will be 6. However, political observers feel that whether he is following astrology or numerology or any other “–logy” is not sure but he is definitely following some political strategy. They are of opinion that KCR has an implicit understanding with Modi and this early election strategy helps both of them like a Quid Pro quo arrangement.

How this helps KCR?

KCR sometime back lambasted Modi and announced a federal front that never took off. Political leaders of other parties like TDP and DMK called his Federal front is plan B of Modi. Moreover both of them have common political rival i.e. Congress Party. So, many in political circles believe that KCR does have an understanding with Modi. This early elections help KCR in two ways.

First is, KCR will be able to avoid rising political equations because of anti-incumbency on central government. Actually, there have been reports that there is anti-incumbency on BJP led union government across the country. However compared to North India this anti-incumbency is much more in South India on BJP. So if KCR faces elections in 2019 along with general elections of India, if people are against BJP at Centre, they may vote for Congress in the Centre and this may impact voting pattern for assembly as well. Even though cross voting happens, having elections simultaneously for center and state may adversely impact TRS prospects, as people who voted Congress at center may also prefer voting for the same in the state. By having early elections, KCR will be able to completely avoid that pattern happening in Telangana.

Second thing is, once Telangana state assembly elections are over, he will have ample time to focus on politics at center. In 2014, despite winning considerable seats for Parliament TRS didn’t get a chance to play active role in Central politics as it is neither part of NDA nor UPA. But if TRS joins NDA officially in 2019 elections, that will hamper the prospects of TRS in the state as Telangana has considerable Muslim population. So, by decoupling assembly elections and Parliament elections, now KCR will have an opportunity to tie up with NDA in 2019 elections if he wants to do so. Many political analysts believe that he will join NDA in 2019 elections if he wins in state elections now. This analysis is also in sync with the prediction that KCR may give way for KTR in the state and will focus on center after elections.

What Modi will get?

There are four other state elections happening soon. If KCR goes for elections before that four-state elections and defeats Congress in Telangana that will be a big blow to morale of Congress and that may impact elections in those 4 States. And obviously that will help Modi.

Also, by helping KCR in de-coupling assembly and Parliament elections, Modi has a chance of having new partner joining NDA after this state elections and before 2019 elections. Even in 2009 also, KCR expressed his willingness to join NDA if it wins. Actually TRS contested elections as an ally of third front, but after elections are over and before results are announced KCR made this controversial statement. However, as NDA did not win, his plan of joining NDA was put in cold storage at that time. Even now also KCR cannot join UPA as Congress is its rival in the state. So, there is very high probability that KCR may join NDA in future. Only hindrance for this for KCR is, losing Muslim votes in the state. So, Modi by helping KCR now, will get benefit later, as another partner joining into NDA

We wil have to wait and see how people of Telangana react on this.

Opinion : Mr.Modi, your gimmicks cannot make you Vajpayee

1

It seems the BJP is very eager to take political mileage out of the sad demise of the tallest leader Vajpayee in terms of improving its vote bank in the ensuing Assembly and Parliament elections which is clearly discernible in the way it conducted the immersion of ashes of the deceased former prime minister on various rivers. Clearly, the party made the ritual look like its sole right to inherit the legacy of Vajpayee. But Vajpayee was a towering political personality of matchless gravitas whom every Indian respects and honours in high esteem. Undoubtedly , he was such a rare leader who lived and continue to live forever in the hearts of all people of not only India but also the entire world. Even his political enemies kneel before him for his outstanding stature. That is why BJP shouldn’t have imposed any political, regional, religious and linguistic barriers in the rituals in the aftermath of his death and should have allowed all people and political parties across the nation to take part in the rituals such as immersion of ashes. Moreover, how could the present day BJP – known for its intolerance towards other religions, other cultures and diverse ideologies – claim itself to be fit enough to inherit the legacy of Vajpayee who was known for his liberal and generous outlook towards all religions and all parties opposed to his political line. Evidently, he stood like a rock for the concept of Unity in diversity of the country. It is a fact that he had never tried to divide the people on the basis of caste, colour, creed, community, region and religion. He was an embodiment of national integrity from which Modi is miles away. The NDA Partner Shivsena also severely criticized BJP for not having taken various opposition parties in to confidence while immersing the ashes of Vajpayee. At least now , the BJP needs to learn to correct its erroneous political journey by being wise enough to imbibe the principles established by Vajpayee so as to make the party acceptable to all people of the country.

Rahul in Europe: Emerging as a tougher opponent

0

Taking a leaf out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book, Congress President Rahul Gandhi used his Europe tour to reach out to non-resident Indians, or NRIs — a group largely known to support Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in recent years. Throughout the tour, he targeted Modi for his style and policies, bitterly attacked the BJP and its ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and tried to project him and the Congress party as a better alternative.

Gandhi comes from a family where access is carefully controlled and only a select few are allowed to reach its members. But in London, he gave the impression that he’s accessible to the common man. He even mingled with the guests at his gatherings and shook their hands.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday (August 25), he mocked Modi for not talking to them openly. He accused the Prime Minister of not having the courage to answer reporters’ questions. This was a reminder of Modi’s public event in London in April, where he was accused of taking pre-planned and selected questions from the audience and not addressing even a single press conference. But one has to remember that Modi was also accessible to the media before he became Prime Minister. The question is, will Gandhi attend such open events and answer unscripted questions if he ever becomes the Prime Minister of India?

But still, this was a new Rahul Gandhi in London — more mature, aggressive, confident and ready to challenge his rivals. His sustained attacks on Modi, the BJP and the RSS were deliberate and sounded like part of a well-planned theme. It’s clear that he wanted to provoke the ruling party in India in order to set an agenda for debate. By comparing the RSS with Muslim Brotherhood, he wanted to plant a doubt in the minds of the Hindu right-wing organisation’s new supporters in India. This was also an attempt to drive away some voters from the BJP.

By targeting Modi and raising the issue of the alleged threat to India’s institutions under his government, Gandhi was trying to become the darling of the intelligentsia that supported the BJP in 2014. By praising Sushma Swaraj, who he’s bitterly criticised in the past, and attacking Modi for isolating her, Gandhi sought to create a wedge in the cabinet and was trying to impress upon the audience that he favoured an inclusive government where individual ministers were as important as the Prime Minister.

But we all know that Modi’S style of functioning is very similar to Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother, Indira Gandhi. And it’s a fact that in present-day India, leaders of all political parties act like dictators and once in government they rarely allow individual ministers to have an independent voice.

In Europe, Rahul Gandhi cleverly avoided talking about his own ambitions of becoming Prime Minister. He didn’t want other opposition leaders to stop dreaming about that ambition and thus jeopardise their support for an anti-BJP front during next year’s elections. It also went with his theme of projecting himself as a consensus politician.

He fumbled at the press meet earlier when he seemed to agree with Pakistan’s position that the main problem currently between the two countries was that India didn’t want to talk. But later, in answer to a direct question about Imran Khan’s election, he made it clear that relations with Pakistan couldn’t improve as long as institutions like the ISI continued to export violence to India.

The Congress president rightly focussed on the unemployment issue and was honest in saying that most countries are facing that problem and don’t know how to tackle it. He wanted India to follow China where he said small and medium industries had resulted in large-scale industrialisation and massive job creation. But he should know that a democratic India can’t be compared to a totalitarian China. In India, no government can take a decision without attracting scrutiny by the opposition and the media.

But where Rahul Gandhi didn’t come out really clever and mature is when he said that the Congress party was not responsible for the massacre of Sikhs after the assassination of his grandmother in 1984. For the second day in London, he failed to correct himself that members of his party were not only responsible but some of them led mobs to kill Sikhs. Although later his party didn’t give them tickets for parliament and state assemblies, they were never expelled.

Gandhi’s explanation that he condemned all violence and wanted the guilty to be punished, is similar to Modi and BJP leaders saying that they condemned all violence, including those by cow vigilantes, and wanted the perpetrators to be brought to justice. All of a sudden, just months before the general election, Gandhi, has given the BJP and the Akali Dal a major political issue. As Sikhs are in large numbers among the NRIs, he has only managed to provoke their anger against the Congress party.

Gandhi still has a long way to go. He still appears to lack new ideas and the political acumen required to take on Modi. But his Europe tour suggests Modi and the BJP will have to take him seriously. The man they dismissed as “Pappu” for a long time appears to have emerged as a tough challenger.

Opinion : Dethroning Modi is not an easy task

0

Former Finance Minister P.Chidambaram has made it clear that India needs to be saved from the evil clutches of Modi who has been destroying freedom and democracy in the country making the people live in fear . He opines that a broader and united platform of all political parties opposed to Modi policies is the need of the hour to check Modi juggernaut. One may agree with his viewpoint but the fact is that it is not so easy to find an acceptable leader who wins the confidence and trust of all opposition parties in the context of Rahul Gandhi being unable to have the required level of image and dexterity to take a lead role in this herculean task of dislodging Modi. First , Rahul must do everything possible to strengthen Congress party by purging it from maladies such as sycophancy and corruption and make it a party of pragmatic decision making where there is no scope for bankrupt mindset. One classic instance of political bankruptcy of Congress is the way it bifurcated the United AP without doing any homework because of which the party was routed in its citadel AP and was not voted to power in Telangana in 2014. If all parties opposed to Modi policies are serious to dethrone Modi, they need to come together with an alternative economic agenda that provides concrete and effective solutions to the sufferings and miseries of people. Everybody agrees that the country is saddled with plethora of problems such as unemployment, agrarian crisis, depreciation of rupee, atrocities against women and Dalits, communal hatred and shrinking space for freedom of speech. A common minimum program should be chalked out by all like-minded parties opposed to Modi and that must be the basis for their functioning. Obviously, the issue of prime ministerial candidate may be decided after elections basing on consensus if they get sufficient seats to form the government. The opposition parties need to live in reality where they cannot win the hearts of people by criticizing Modi bitterly day in and day out . Instead they are expected to come out with efficacious and remedial solutions that are different from what Modi prescribes so that the economy and the country are bailed out from the present precarious position. The widespread dissatisfaction and frustration prevalent among people should be translated into electoral advantage for non BJP parties and this would be a reality when there is a single candidate from opposition to contest against BJP in all constituencies if possible or atleast as many constituencies as possible in 2019 elections. Most importantly the opposition parties should formulate efficient strategies in right direction to confront Modi in the ensuing electoral battle by channelising all their energies in a big way by being aware of the fact that Modi is a charismatic and gigantic leader of the masses and there is no matching leader of this magnitude from opposition camp. The stalwart leaders of Opposition parties need to shed their egoism and work coherently in this mission of dislodging Modi from power failing which their ambition to come to power will be a daydream forever.

Telangana CM meets PM amid talk of early polls

0

Amid growing talks of early elections to Telangana Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Though officially it was stated that Rao called on the Prime Minister to discuss various pending issues pertaining to the state, the meeting assumed significance in the wake of hints of early polls by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief.

This is Rao’s second meeting with Modi this month and the third in as many months.

It also comes two days after Telangana government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma met Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa.

KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, had dropped hints that the Assembly elections may be held early. The state elections are originally scheduled along with the Lok Sabha polls next year.

The TRS leader has already stated that the party will announce its candidates next month.

Meanwhile, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, KCR met Modi on Saturday and discussed various issues pertaining to the state pending for clearances and approvals from the Centre.

He urged the Prime Minister to raise the annual borrowing limit for Telangana by an additional 0.50 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) as recommended by the 14th Finance Commission.

KCR said the state government has fulfilled the conditions laid down for availing the additional fiscal space of 0.5 per cent of GSDP.

“There is a significant jump in the expenditure commitments of the state on account of flagship programmes like irrigation and provision of drinking water to every household. All of the works have reached an advance stage and are about to give benefit to a large number of people in the state,” the Chief Minister said in his representation submitted to the PM.

KCR sought early nod for the new zonal system approved by the state cabinet recruitment in government departments, release of Rs 450 crore for the development of backward districts, release of additional FRBM funds, release of the Central share of interest on the loans to be given to women societies and farmers, bifurcation of high court, funds for regional Ring Road and allotment of defence lands for building secretariat.

Key takeaways of MOTN survey- Part 2: Best PM candidate and best CM

0

We have seen in the part-1 of MOTN survey that how would UPA and NDA would fare in 2019 in various permutations and combinations. The India today-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation (MOTN) survey, also focused on who is best CM in the country and who is best alternative to Modi as PM candidate.

Question-1: Who is best alternative for Modi?

“Can a Congress-led grand alliance challenge the Narendra Modi juggernaut in 2019?” is the question, among others, examined by this MOTN survey. To find answer to this question, various permutations and combinations of scenarios have been put forward in front of the people and obtained answers from people. Also, another question put forward is “Who is the best alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi among opposition leaders in the 2019 elections”. For this question, 46% answered “Rahul Gandhi” is the best alternative to Modi, and Mamta Banerjee is at 2nd position with 8% opining she is the best alternative to Modi. Priyanka Gandhi was at 4th position with 6% and Kejrival at 6th position with 4%.

Rank Who is Best alternative to Modi
Percentage of votes
1 Rahul Gandhi 46%
2 Mamta Banerjee 8%
3 Chidambaram 6%
3 Priyanka 6%
5 Akhilesh Yadav 4%
5 Kejrival 4%

Question-2: Who is best CM?

As per MOTN survey, ‘Didi’ Mamta Banerjee is nation’s No. 1 chief minister. It is to be noted here that, Mamata has won the best performing CM thrice in a row till now. Nitish Kumar was at 2nd position with 10%, Kejrval also at same position with 10%, Yogi Aditya at 4th place with 9% (2nd and 3rd positions shared), Chandra babu at 5th place with 7%, Raman singh of Chattisgarh and Shivraj singh chouhan at 6th positions with 5%, KCR and Naveen Patnaik were at 8th position with 4%.

MOTN added a disclaimer that – as this MOTN is a subjective study of voter perception across the country, the No. 1 status is more a reflection of political popularity rather than a test of governance. That means, Mamta being number 1 CM doesn’t mean her governance is very good. It just means, she is more popular CM. Usually in movie awards, we see 2 categories – best movie and best popular movie. Best popular movie need not be best movie.

Another highlight of this survey is even though it named Mamta as number one CM, it didn’t mention how much % of votes she got. It mentioned Nitish and Kejrival at 2nd position with 10% but it nowhere mentioned how much percentage she got.

Rank Who is Best CM
Percentage of votes
1 Mamta Banerjee
% not mentioned
2 Nitish 10%

Modi begins aerial survey of Kerala floods

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took off in a helicopter from here to survey the massive loss and destruction triggered by the torrential rains in Kerala.

Overflowing rivers and a series of landslides have resulted in the death of 180 people as of Saturday morning, with over 3 lakh others forced to move to some 2,000 relief camps.

Modi, who arrived here from the state capital, is being accompanied by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, State Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekheran and other top state officials.

His visit comes at a time when the Congress-led opposition has been demanding immediate deployment of the Army since the state government has been unable to deal with the crisis.

Before returning to Delhi from Kochi later on Saturday, the Prime Minister will chair a meeting to discuss the situation.

Rains subsided on Saturday morning resulting in the water level in Idukki and parts of Ernakulam and Thrissur districts coming down.

But on Friday night, air lifting could not take place in Chengannur as the incessant rains continued in the region.

Modi tweets on today’s No Confidence Motion

0

It is almost after fifteen years, BJP government is facing a vote of no-confidence in Parliament today and this is the first ever NCM ( No Confidence Motion ) for Modi government. Modi calls it important day and tweeted India is watching us closely today.

He tweeted, “Today is an important day in our Parliamentary democracy. I am sure my fellow MP colleagues will rise to the occasion and ensure a constructive, comprehensive & disruption free debate. We owe this to the people & the makers of our Constitution. India will be watching us closely. ”

In the last session, NCM was never taken up because of din in the house and Modi never spoke about it. But this time he is calling all parties for “disruption free debate”. What an irony!! Probably, this indicates BJP is well prepared with numbers (MP’s count) and content (how to counter allegations) this time.

Debate will last totally 7 hours. Based on their strength in the Lok Sabha, the BJP has been given 3 hours and 33 minutes, Congress got 38 minutes, TDP got 13 minutes, AIADMK got 29 minutes , Trinamool Congress 27 minutes , Biju Janata Dal 15 minutes and TRS 9 minutes to present their case.

Kutumba Rao bomb on Modi: Essar-Roseneft deal was the biggest scam by Modi

AP planning commission DY.Chairman Kutumba rao exploded a bomb today by making strong allegations on Modi during Essar oil and Roseneft deal.

The deal:

Essar Global Fund Limited is an Indian conglomerate group and this debt-laden company sold its Essar Oil unit to Russia’s Rosneft, giving the energy giant a gateway into the world’s fastest growing fuel market. On October, 2016, Rosneft bought 49% stake in Essar Oil of India, along with Russian investment fund United Capital, in a deal worth $13 billion. It was one of the largest inflow of foreign direct investments into India.

Kutumba Rao allegations:

Kutumba Rao made strong allegations on Modi and indicated he has direct involvement in this scam. His allegations as below:

  • As per 2016 balance sheet, Essar oil had worth of only Rs 3500 crore. How come it was sold for Rs. 75,000 crore in December 2016?
  • Essar was acquired by Roseneft and equities of Roseneft were bought by a Qatar company and another company from China bought equities from this Qatar company. Later, China government arrested these representatives of the China company and Modi went to China during that time.
  • The Russian minister who was part of this deal also is now in jail.
  • Entire deal happended in the presence of Modi and the deal was shown as G2G (Government to Government) deal while it was just B2B (business to business) deal.
  • Investors lost because of this deal.
  • India received no tax income from this deal.

Kutumba Rao also told, he has got all required evidences and information regarding this scam and will reveal all the info soon. Revealing this info exactly on the day of Parliament sessions is really a master stroke. But we’ll have to wait and see how the political parties across the country will respond to this.

Friends in 2014, foes now for 2019

It is quite interesting to note that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had pledged that his party would not allow Telugu Desam Party supremo and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu from coming to power in the next elections. Because in 2014, had had taken a similar pledge to bring Babu back to power, along with Narendra Modi at the Centre. The three leaders were friends in the last election, but they are rivals now for this election.

Nearly four years after the last general elections, Chandrababu Naidu realised that Modi will not do justice to Andhra Pradesh. Modi believes that Chandrababu Naidu is not a trusted leader anymore. At the same time, Pawan Kalyan realised that Chandrababu Naidu will not do justice to Andhra Pradesh.

The three leaders, who campaigned together in 2014, praising each other and standing for each other, are now three separated poles. There are no stakes for Narendra Modi or his party in Andhra Pradesh. Given the situation, the BJP may not get even a single Lok Sabha seat to help Modi retain his strength in Lok Sabha after the elections. But, the Modi-followers in the State are strong enough to defeat the rivals. They have voted for Chandrababu Naidu in the last election, which had given him that small 2.06 per cent margin over the rival YSR Congress.

Pawan Kalyan did not have his candidates and he only sought the votes for Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra Modi. This time, after parting ways with Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra Modi, he wants to contest on his own, may align with the Left parties. Kapu vote share, which stands close to 15 per cent in the State, is not consolidated around Pawan Kalyan. The Kapus are divided, some backing Chandrababu Naidu and some opposing him. But, there is not much support from this caste to Pawan Kalyan, as he refused to own this caste.

When Pawan Kalyan was part of his brother Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 elections, the party with Mega Star and Power Star fighting together, secured just 18 MLA seats and now without Mega Star on his side, it is anybody’s guess to make an assessment on Pawan Kalyan’s prospects. However, he too can play spoilsport for the TDP by taking away that small margin of 2.06 per cent votes.

Social media has democratised discourse, says Modi

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday greeted the people on the occasion of World Social Media Day, saying the new medium has played a key role in democratising discourse, and helped people express their views and showcase their creativity.

“Greetings on Social Media Day! The world of social media has played a key role in democratising our discourse and giving a platform to millions of people around the world to express their views and showcase their creativity.

“I would particularly like to congratulate my young friends for their innovative usage of social media. Their frank method of conveying opinions is extremely endearing. I urge youngsters to continue expressing and discussing freely,” Modi said in several tweets.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also tweeted about the day, urging everyone to use this powerful tool wisely.

“Social media has emerged as the Numero Uno media of contemporary times. It has great power to amplify the voice of the common man. On World Social Media Day, I urge everyone to use this powerful tool wisely and responsibly in order to create a positive impact in society,” Singh said.

June 30 is observed as Social Media Day after a multi-platform media and entertainment company — Mashable — started it as a way to recognise and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication.

Modi gives a chance to Naidu to hit at on TTD

11

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had made an attempt to take over the prestigious temples under the control of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) in Tirumala. In the name of protected monuments, treating the temples as historically important, the ASI had sent a letter to the TTD seeking the list of such temples to be identified and then subsequently taken over for their protection. However, in no time, the ASI withdrew the letter suspecting public anger against that move.

Whether the ASI’s attempt has Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nod or not, the issue had come as handy for the State government to target the BJP leadership and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Though yet to respond, the issue is likely to go handy for Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to target the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister is already launching war against the Prime Minister on denial of the special category status and other benefits to the State and the TDP is holding series of protest events across the State.

On Sunday, Anakapalli MP Muttamsetti Srinivas, popularly known as Avanti Srinivas, launched a day long hunger strike against Narendra Modi. There is at least one protest in the 13 districts of the State every day where the TDP is targeting the BJP and the prime minister. Besides the injustice done to the State, the TDP leaders are taking up issues like the demonetisation, scams and crime against women reported across the country to hit at the BJP and the Prime Minister.

Now, the attempt of the ASI to take over the TTD temples is yet another issue for the TDP, particularly Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to hit at the Prime Minister. The State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is already in the news hitting at the Centre on the terms of reference given to the fifteenth finance commission and is rallying the finance ministers of 11 states together against the BJP government and Narendra Modi’s leadership. The ASI would be yet another issue for the TDP to target the Prime Minister in the days to come.
