When CM Naidu Lost Cool…

0

Of late Naidu is seen a bit squeamish-easily getting upset by  the events he doesn’t like. This happened in Vijyawada Friday. While Naidu reportedly expressed displeasure over some ministers’ performance in the cabinet meeting here here, some self-help group (SHG) women tasted his petulant behavior during a break in the cabinet net meeting.

A delegation of women from various Mahila Samakhyas led by All India Democratic Woman’s Association (AIDWA) called on him to represent the problems being faced by DWCRA women and the new liquor policy of AP government.
The women placed before him two problems. one, non-implementation of loan waiver for self-help groups and problems in the sand auction. Two, social and economic consequences of the new liquor policy.
Upon hearing the two issues, Naidu got irritated. Raised his vice with rage.

“What are you talking,” he disapproved their argument. “You are accusing my government. I know every problem the SHG women face in the state. You don’t teach,” he shouted at them. Unfazed, the women leaders did not relent from explaining the problems. They also replied Naidu in same pitch of voice and this led to an loud argument. People sitting on lawns came and surrounded them with curiosity. Later Naidu left abruptly to the meeting hall which surprised everybody.

” It is unfortunate that the chief minister agreed to give us an audience but failed receive us properly. He shouted on us when we genuinely tried to bring to his notice certain problems of poor women,” M Lakshmi, state general secretary of Progressive Organization of Women told media.

The reason for Naidu’s annoyance could be that AIDWA, an affiliate of CPM had taken up the cause of SHG women. He might not have liked idea of Communists questioning his liquor policy. Because state is targeting huge revenue from liquor sales by making it available even in super bazars and malls. Any idea that is aimed to cutting revenue from liquor would be taken by him as an affront on his government.

Why was the main pushkar ghat closed for two and half hours?

0

Why was the main pushkar ghat closed for more than two and half hours yesterday in Rajahmundry, minutes before the stampede crushed about 30 people to death?

According to highly placed sources in the government Naidu was busy with National Geographic (NG)which was commissioned to make a documentary on the entire pushkaralu revolving around chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. National Geographic was given contract  for an unknown amount to do the program starting from July 14 to July 25. The NG will produce a 40-minute documentary on the glory of  Godavari  Maha Pushkaralu and it will aired after the closure of the Pushkaralu. Even though the documentary is about Godavari, it would depict  chief minister Naidu as central figure promoting the Telugu culture and marketing  the state abroad to attract the investor towards Andhra Pradesh.Similarly a Telugu director has also been entrusted with the work of making another documentary for state government.

As the inaugural day is  important for the documentary,  NG crew wanted to film the  CMs’ offerings prayers to River Godavari elaborately and it took longer time than expected. The crew  was asked to shoot the chief minister at main ghat as the chief minister’s men expected  more devotees at the ghat which is located nearer to Godavari railway station. So, Naidu was asked to take holy dip at the main Pushkara ghat in stead of the  Saraswati Ghat  designated for VVIPs.

In normal course, the CM’s holy dip should not take more than 30 minutes. As it was not ceremonial but meant for filming for documentary, the pujas have been performed leisurely so that every aspect of chief minister and his family participation recorded in minute detail, said  a senior official from Rajahmundry.

“Since CM was scheduled to visit the main ghat, all gates had been closed from 4. 30 early in the morning. The area was not barricaded because of a laser show organized at that place the previous night in which CM and his family were present. As the laser show went up to  10.30 PM, to facilitate movement of the VVIPs,  barricades were not erected. And devotees from North Coastal Andhra started pouring in large numbers at the venue since midnight. They chose this particular venue as it is located just few meters away from the Godavari railway station,’ the official told Telugu360.com over phone.

All these devotees, the official said, planned to take an early dip in the river so that they could go back the next day.

Naidu’s spin doctors chose this particular ghat  as they wanted NG film how  large crowds keep on waiting  for hours to have a glimpse of chief minister.  Because of this, it is learnt, CM’s advisers are said to have brushed aside the advise of relief commissioner to the chief minister take holy dip in the Saraswati Ghat.

The general impression is that  had chief minister chosen the earmarked ghat, the gory accident would not have taken place.

Judicial Inquiry Only to Save Naidu: Jagan

0

Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the judicial  inquiry ordered by the State was only to cover up the failure and misdemeanor of Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the VIP ghat and opting for the main ghat to offer Pushkar puja.

“The inquiry is only to save the skin of the Chief Minister and to come out unscathed by making some officials as scapegoats and it serves no purpose. It is obvious that the incident occurred as the devotees were bolted for over three hours and the single entry was opened after Naidu left the spot,” YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said in Kovvur, West Godavari district, on Wednesday.

Had Chandrababu Naidu honored the protocol and took the bath at the VIP ghat the mishap would have been averted he said adding that since  he had ignored it, he should be held responsible for the death of more than 30 persons who died in the stampede.

“When the gates were opened after testing the patience of the devotees for over three hours, the surge was fast and furious and in the melee stampede occurred which claimed over 30 lives. Only Chandrababu Naidu should be blamed for the tragedy,” he said.

Had it been someone else, the person would have been jailed by now. He is directly and indirectly responsible for the deaths, he said.

CM Should Quit on Moral Grounds: Jagan

0

Blaming Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for the stampede in which many devotees were crushed to death at the Pushkar ghat, YSRC president and Opposition leader  Jagan Mohan Reddy demanded he  should quit on moral grounds.

“Though  Saraswathi ghat was reserved for VIPs, Chandrababu Naidu opted to offer puja at the main Pushkar ghat and it was blocked for two-and-a-half hours for the devotees. When the barricades were removed there was sudden surge as the devotees were waiting for long,” he said in Rajahmundry on Tuesday. Upon coming to the news of stampede Jagan immediately rushed to the Rajahmundry.

There was no need for Chandrababu Naidu to be at the pushkar ghat which is meant for general public he said adding that just for the sake of publicity  he opted to offer puja at the main ghat so that he would seen by general public.

With Chief Minister at the main ghat, he said, the officials became over cautious and blocked all the ways as devotees, who came for far of places became restless as it was 2.5 hours after sunrise and there was no let up by the officials.

“Once the barricades were opened they rushed in like a surge resulting in the stampede in which scores are killed and injured,” he said.

“The ordering of a judicial inquiry is just an eye wash. You cannot bring the thousands of visiting devotees as witnesses. Chief Minister should own responsibility and quit,” he said.

Pawan Tweets venom on Congress

0

Hiding in safe haven Twitter, Janasena president and actor  Pawan Kalyan this time  flung stones on Congress. He chastised Congress that it was not concentrating on launching a  fight against BJP for bestowing special state category status on Andhra Pradesh. Attacking sarcastically, Pawan grilled Congress , a party that lost power and  bit dust in the 2014 elections every where, to derive satisfaction after he got a dressing down from TDP, TRS, CPI etc. for his inability to wage “real fight” for these rights.

He was yet to answer many questions from these parties. While appreciating his concern at denial of special status to Andhra Pradesh by Modi government, CPI AP secretary Ramakrishna asked him to join them and make street the battle ground not the Twitter to fight for the legitimate rights of Andhra Pradesh.

Everybody thought after the his press conference a week back, Pawan would declare war against the NDA regime led by PM Narendra Modi and march  his army of fans to the streets to stage dharnas before central government offices and lead them to Delhi for a rally near Jantar Mantar. But, he beat a hasty retreat to  Twitter, where attacking and flinging stones at other is risk-free.

In stead of introspecting at his own  failure to take on  Modi’s regime and belated reaction on the NDAs  denial of special status, Pawan is resorting to blaming others. Pawan thinks he is too wise a politician in Telugu lands and wants derive two-way advantage as a champion of special status to Andhra Pradesh and basking in the bonhomie with powers that be by refraining to question  PM  Modi and CM Chandrababu Naidu  on the same question.

This is unpolitical and self-defeating politics.

Pawan thinks Congress was doing overkill in the case of Lalit Modi and expects same fervor on the issue of special to Andhra Pradesh of five crore people as well.

At the same time, to blunt the possible attack from the Congress, he diplomatically  sprinkled praises  also on the party, in which his brother Chiranjeevi is a prominent member.

Following are the tweets of Twitter-fighter Pawan Kalyan

“…merely for ‘ONE LALIT MODI’Issue than to fight for their Promise to deliver SPECIAL STATUS to ‘FiFTY MILLION SEEMANDHRAS.’ Hail Congress!”

“I love Congress! I adore Congress! for their Zeal, for their Fervour, for their Passion to take on BJP Govt…”

When is the time ripe for Pawan to hit streets not only for special status, but also for more funds and projects from government of India? He should get a list of projects pending in government of India and decide his course of action.

Mahabubnagar Bandh Today

0

Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has given a call for bandh in Mahabubnagar district on Friday protesting Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s attempts to scuttle the Palamuru Lift Irrigation project.

Stating that the project has no water allocation, Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to Central Water Commission urging to stop the project.

It is said in Andhra Pradesh that the project, for which T-chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao laid foundation stone on 11 June,2015, if constructed would affect the diversion of Krishna water to Rayalaseema districts. Even YSR Congress, a friendly party of TRS, has also expressed displeasure over the construction of Lift on River Krishna.

The TRS district president shiva Kumar appealed to people, educational institutions, trade bodies, government and private offices to partake in the bandh and make it a success as it was meant to preserve the water rights of the district.

Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao took strong objection to Naidu’s anti-project stance.

“At a time when the Telangana government is struggling to give water to backward district through this project, AP CM Naidu is writing letter to exert pressure on the centre to stall the project, “Harish said.

He reminded Naidu that he had adopted the district for nine year. “You adopted the district for nine years but did nothing. We have not objected to Pattiseem even though it was not permitted.  We both should follow the policy of “live and let live” Harish told media in Hyderabad.

Industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MLAs Karne Prabhakar, A Jeevan Reddy, TRS district President Shiva Kumar accused Naidu of trying to stall the project.

They warned Naidu of dire consequences if the project was stalled. Jupally said the project would be completed come what may.

The Industries minister said the project had already been cleared in the united-state itself and as such no fresh permission was necessary. He argued that many of the projects taken up AP in Rayalaseema, and mega project Polavarm were illegal.

Many organization of government employees such as TNGO, TGO, RTC have extended support to the bandh.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, TRS organized protest rallies in the district and effigies of Chandrababu Naidu had also been burnt.

Enough is Enough, Quit Hyd : KCR Tells Naidu

0

Sensing politics in the Chandrababu Naidu’s extended dalliance with Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao asked the former to vacate the Telangana capital immediately. He used the occasion of Congress leader D Srinivas’ joining TRS to advise Naidu to move closer to the vast stretch of land between Anantapur and Srikakulam.

“You should be concerned more about the development of your state.  You have a bigger state.  You can boss over there instead of clinging to Hyderabad,” KCR said in the meeting of party workers in his inimitable sarcasm.

KCR is peeved at TDP’s recent change of tack with regard to Hyderabad.  First Naidu was eager to relocate the capital to Vijayawada area. Dozens of teams of officers, ministers, scouted Vijayawada and Guntur towns for suitable location to shift the some important departments. Scores of meetings held with representatives of NGOs connected to persuade them shift to temporary capital.Even a township near Managalagiri had also been identified for building a temporary administrative colony. Expression of Interest to build the township had also been invited. But suddenly, the talk of temporary capital disappeared. Especially after the court directive to Telangana government that the elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) should be held before mid-December 2015.

KCR’s plan is to see that Naidu left Hyderabad before GHMC elections. His impatience is stemming from the unlikelihood of latter’s migration to temporary capital.

“You have thirteen districts to roll around. Stop conspiring in our area. You are caught redhanded in the cash-for-vote scam. When we contemplate action you make a hue and cry. We won’t tolerate this,” he said.

Naidu, Pl Take Up Sec.8 with Prez: Botsa

0

YSR Congress has demanded the TDP to place its apprehensions on Section 8 of State Reorganisation Act 2014 before President Pranab Mukherjee and seek clarification.

The party also advised Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to get his reservations about governor ESL Narasimhan clarified from the president as he is the appointing authority of the governor.

“Chandrababu Naidu and his cabinet colleagues have been raising a hue and cry over the implementation of Section 8, more so after the cash-for-vote scam has come to light. The chief minister should make best use of the time as the Implementing authority (the governor) and his appointing authority (the president) are in city,” party senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana said.

Stating that the TDP had revived the controversy over Section 8 after its MLA was caught by ACB while trying to bribe a fellow MLA, Botsa said TDP had gone on the offensive and called the Governor names.

Though Chandrababu Naidu was allotted an additional 30 minutes time on Tuesday with the President Pranab Mukherjee, there seems to be no mention of the controversy they have raised on the implementation of the issue, he added.

Botsa demanded that Naidu broach the issue with President in the presence of the governor, extract a reply and issue statement.

Stephenson’s Statement to Nail Naidu?

0

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he cash-for-vote scam seems to be a never ending topic especially on television channels.  Barely a day after Andhra Pradesh police served notices on T News for allegedly telecasting AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged conversation with nominated MLA to Telangana assembly, Elvis Stephenson, a vernacular news channel claimed that it got the statement of Stephenson, which was recorded before a magistrate at Nampally Court in Hyderabad.

[pullquote position=”left”] In his statement to the court, Stephenson reportedly said that Chandrababu Naidu was the kingpin of the entire cash-for-vote scam.[/pullquote]

In his statement to the court, Stephenson reportedly said that Chandrababu Naidu was the kingpin of the entire cash-for-vote scam. He said that Mathaiah (one of the accused in the scam) visited Stephenson’s residence on May 28 and offered him a sum of two crore rupees besides an air travel ticket in case he accepts to refrain from MLC elections under MLA quota .

On May 29, Stephenson said that he wanted to deal with the key person in this episode after which he was told it was TDP MLA Revanth Reddy who handled it. It was then Stephenson approached the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and DGP of Telangana state and gave a written complaint over the same.

On May 30, another two accused in the scam—Sebastian and Antony visited Stephenson’s residence while the former told Stephenson that he was sent by Chandrababu Naidu. Later in the noon 12, Revanth Reddy visited Stephenson’s residence. Stephenson informed the same to ACB, who installed cameras at nominated MLA’s residence.[dropcap][/dropcap]

On May 31,  Sebastian telephoned Stephenson and said he wanted to visit him along with Revanth Reddy, however, at a different location. Accordingly, Stephenson arranged for the meeting at his friend’s (Malcolm Taylor) place and also informed the same to ACB who installed cameras-this time- at Taylor’s residence. Later, in the evening Revanth Reddy and Sebastian visited Taylor’s residence with a bag  that contained 50 lakh rupees. It is known that the sting operation was later released to the media by unknown sources.

Notably, Stephenson even told the magistrate the person who connected him to Chandrababu Naidu was Harry Sebastian.

The experts said that this statement of Stephenson will apparently considered as a key evidence. Let us wait and watch when and how curtains will be drawn on this infamous cash-for-vote scam.
