Telangana declares holiday on Tuesday as heavy rains continue

0

The Telangana government has declared a holiday for all government offices, private institutions, schools and all educational institutions on Tuesday in view of the heavy rains lashing the state under the impact of Cyclone ‘Gulab’.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday evening, while reviewing with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar the situation created by the heavy rains across the state due to the impact of the cyclone.

The Chief Secretary later issued a Government Order declaring holiday due to incessant rains and imminent forecast of heavy rains.

He said the employees of emergency departments like Revenue, Police, Fire Services, Municipal, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation, and Roads and Buildings should be on emergency duty to ensure that no property or lives are lost due to heavy rains.

Several parts of Telangana have been experiencing heavy rains since early Monday under impact of ‘Gulab’ which weakened into deep depression after crossing the Andhra-Odisha coast.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said the deep depression weakened into a depression on Monday evening and lay centered over north Telangana and adjoining south Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha.

The heavy rains affected normal life in Hyderabad and other parts of the state. Rain water entered houses in some colonies, causing severe hardships to the residents. Inundation of roads led to traffic jams at various places in the state capital.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and Greater Hyderabad Mayor Vijayalaxmi Gadwal urged the citizens to stay indoors.

The met department issued a red alert to the state. It said there is flash flood risk till 6.30 p.m. on September 28.

It forecast heavy to very heavy rains in most parts of the state during the next 24 hours. Extremely heavy rainfall is also predicted at isolated places in at least 14 districts.

Gulab impact: Telangana CM takes stock of situation

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday took stock of the situation in the state due to heavy rains under the impact of cyclone ‘Gulab’ which weakened into deep depression after crossing Andhra-Odisha coast overnight.

The chief minister reviewed the situation with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other top officials. He directed the chief secretary to take all necessary precautions against any loss of life or property as heavy rains across the state are likely to continue for another two days due to the impact of ‘Gulab’. The CM wanted revenue, police, and other departments to work in coordination.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar once again held a teleconference with district collectors in the wake of heavy rains in the state. Apart from CS, DGP Mahender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary, Roads and Buildings, Sunil Sharma, Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Sandeep Kumar Sultania and Secretary, Disaster Management, Rahul Bojja were also present in the conference.

Somesh Kumar said collectors have been directed to remain vigilant in the wake of warnings from the Meteorological Department that there will be heavy rains for another two days across the state. He said the Revenue, Police, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation and Fire departments in the district should work in coordination.

The chief secretary asked officials to take adequate measures to prevent loss of life and property. If necessary, services of NDRF teams in Hyderabad, Kottagudem and Warangal should be utilised. He said that a separate control room should be set up in each district collectorate office and information should be provided to the control room set up in the Secretariat.

He said that the situation should be reviewed by appointing special officers at problematic areas such as inland areas, ponds, ditches and bridges.

DGP Mahender Reddy said he had directed the police commissioners and SPs to work in coordination with the district collectors. He said a teleconference had been held with police officers to this effect.

KTR’s defamation suit a strong message to T’gana opposition

0

By filing defamation suit against Telangana State Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy for linking him to the drugs scandal, Telangana’s cabinet minister K. T. Rama Rao has sent a clear message to the opposition leaders for their continued diatribe.

Political analysts say the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president has tried to convey to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief in clear terms that the ruling party is no longer ready to take the slander lying down.

Realising that mere war of words on Twitter and challenges and counter challenges will not be enough, Rama Rao approached the court to rein in Revanth Reddy.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, received immediate relief as the City Civil Court passed interim orders directing Revanth Reddy not to make any statement linking him to the drugs scandal.

The court passed interim injunction restraining Revanth Reddy and his agents or any person representing him from making any further derogatory, libellous or scandalous statements either by way of print or electronic media and/ or in public or in private including social media and the Internet linking KTR with the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate in the drugs scandal.

According to the minister, the defamation suit is a result of various baseless, scurrilous, and manifestly false statements and allegations made against him by Revanth Reddy. He denied any links with those accused in the drugs scandal.

Liberty has also been reserved in the suit for instituting further criminal proceedings and for payment of compensatory damages for such serious and malicious acts of defamation.

KTR, son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was irked by Revanth Reddy linking him to drugs case currently being probed by the Enforcement Directorate with the questioning several Telugu film personalities this month for alleged money laundering. The Congress leaders had even branded KTR ‘brand ambassador of drugs’.

While continuing to politically counter the opposition, the TRS has made up its mind to crack the whip if opposition leaders ‘cross their limit’ by resorting to ‘baseless’ allegations against chief minister or other top leaders.

Recently, KTR also threatened that the government will not hesitate to book sedition cases against those trying to defame Telangana’s growth and belittle its achievements with false figures and allegations.

He took strong exception to some opposition leaders making statements loaded with personal abuses against the chief minister.

The state is already witnessing a sharp exchange of words, allegations and counter allegations and leaders throwing challenges at each other.

A bitter critic of the chief minister and his family, Revanth Reddy launched ‘white challenge’ apparently to put the government in a tight spot.

He challenged KTR to come forward to undergo drug tests along with him. He also threw a challenge at former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who readily accepted it and reached the venue and time announced by Revanth Reddy.

KTR, however, tried to turn tables on Revanth by stating that he is ready to give his samples for drug tests if AICC leader Rahul Gandhi also comes forward to give his samples. He also remarked that it’s below his dignity to undergo the tests with what he calls a Cherlapalli jail alumni.

He was apparently referring to Revanth Reddy’s arrest in note for vote scam of 2015.

Then a leader of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Revanth was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while offering Rs.50 lakh cash to a nominated MLA to make him vote for TDP candidate in elections for Legislative Council from MLAs’ quota.

Revanth later joined the Congress party and was elected to Lok Sabha in 2019 elections. A couple of months later, Congress party’s central leadership sprang a surprise by picking him for the post of TPCC president, ignoring several senior leaders and strong contenders.

Known for his aggressive brand of politics, Revanth is seen by many as someone who can revive the fortunes of the grand old party in its former stronghold.

Spearheading anti-government protests, Revanth is slamming KCR and his family members and constantly hitting the deadlines by making sweeping allegations.

A few days ago, the State Congress chief submitted a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) demanding investigation into sale of government of lands at Kondapur in Hyderabad. He claimed that the government suffered a loss of Rs.1,000 crore as the lands were sold to those close to the chief minister.

Revanth is not the only opposition leader targeting the chief minister and his family.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who took over as the state BJP president last year, is also known for not mincing any word to attack TRS supremo and his family members.

Both Congress and BJP leaders often use harsh words to lampoon KCR. For instance, they often remark that KCR always ‘sleeps’ at his farm house and doesn’t even step out even when people are in distress.

Making allegations of corruption, the BJP leader said KCR will soon go to jail for looting public money, especially thousands of crores of rupees he took as bribes from contractors in irrigation project.

Currently undertaking ‘padyatra’, he is resorting to bitter attacks on KCR. TRS leaders repeatedly warned Sanjay to mind his language while criticizing the chief minister.

A couple of leaders even used abusive language to attack each other. In the run up to ensuing by-election to Huzurabad Assembly constituency and 2023 Assembly polls, the political bickering is likely to only heat up.

While TRS leaders say opposition leaders can criticise the government and question it, the kind of language used by the opposition leaders is unacceptable.

KTR stated that the government will not hesitate to even book sedition cases against those making derogatory remarks against the chief minister.

Reacting to this, Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenged him to lodge a sedition case against him and put him behind bars. He questioned the government whether they would be charged under sedition if they questioned on promises made by the CM of giving double bedrooms for the poor, three acres of land to Dalits, job for every house, financial aid for jobless youth.

While warning the opposition leaders, KTR cites the recent arrest of union minister Narayan Rane in Maharashtra for his ‘slap’ slur against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery.

“In Maharashtra, they arrested a central minister. If you want us to do the same, we will do it,” KCR said.

KTR says derogatory words against a leader of the stature of KCR are not acceptable. “There is a limit to patience. We have told them this many times. Should we tolerate this kind of language being used against a leader who fought for and achieved Telangana state, held many positions in his long political career and who has been blessed as a two-time chief minister by the people,” Rama Rao asked.

Opposition leaders, however, argue that they have every right to criticise the chief minister and his policies.

This is the real reason why KCR is in Delhi

0

The secret of KCR’s Delhi tour is out. He is not in Delhi to hobnob with the BJP national leadership to confuse and confound the Telangana BJP. He is there to plead for Centre’s help in saving the rice millers of the state. And he cannot afford to anger them as they control the milling and paddy procurement in the state.

With the Central Government categorically stating that it cannot procure more than 60 lakh tonnes of fine quality paddy this year, the KCR government is in a quandary. Over 3000 rice mills, most of them in the hands of politically powerful satraps, want this limit to be lifted. It is because of their pressure that KCR is in Delhi. His problem is that these powerful rice millers control the levers of power in rural Telangana. The rice mills offer direct employment to 2 lakh people and an estimated 10 lakh people depend on the mills. Angering them would have a ripple effect on electoral politics.

Each rice mill needs up to Rs 15 crore of investment and its daily maintenance touches up to Rs 1 lakh. If there is no additional procurement, then a large number of the mills would be closed. The state government is worried about the fallout of this situation

Last year too, there was serious unrest among the millers and KCR had to marshal all his resources to convince the FCI to procure the rice from the millers. At one stage, he offered to buy every grain of rice, but miserably failed to do so. This led to a lot of discontent among the farmers and millers. This time, he tried to force the farmers not to sow paddy this year. But, that seems to have failed.

But this time the Centre appears quite determined to buy only what is required. It is not inclined to satisfy state governments by buying more than what is needed. This has put KCR in a confusion and it is because of this that he is in Delhi.

Aiming to complete vaccination of all marginalised sections in the state, the Telangana government has partnered with IIT-Hyderabad start-up VaccineOnWheels. Under the arrangement 50 mobile vaccination clinics will reach out to those who are in the periphery zone.

VaccineOnWheels creates hospital-like sterile setups near communities to provide vaccination services.

Community based Mobile Vaccination Clinic will help India in achieving higher immunization penetration by getting faster acceptance towards vaccination, giving higher convenience with reduced cost of seeking service with zero travel cost, zero travel time, lost wages, and many more, an IITH statement said.

Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship, IITHyderabad’s incubated startup, VaccineOnWheels had introduced India’s first Doctor-based Mobile Vaccination Clinic in 2019, in association with IITH, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and CfHE.

TRS MPTCS, sarpanches revolting against KCR!

0

TRS chief, Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao and his son, party working president K.T.Rama Rao always boast that TRS bagged 95 per cent of the sarpanch, MPTC, ZPTC seats in elections held in 2019.

But the same TRS sarpanches, ZPTCs, MPTCs are giving sleepless nights to them by revolting against the party leadership.

TRS sarpanches, MPTCs, ZPTCS are posting videos on social media platforms explaining how TRS government pushed them into a debt trap by not clearing their bills since 2019.

They are stating that each sarpanch incurred up to Rs 10 lakh expenditure on their own to undertake various development programmes in their villages after KCR and KTR threatened that they will be sacked from their posts if development works are not done.

Due to fear, they mobilised funds on their own and submitted bills later which are lying pending due to fund crunch.

While some sarpanches committed suicide due to debt trap, some others attempted suicide and some others fled away from their villages unable to clear debts.

Unable to bear this, few sarpanches and ZPTCs are holding meetings to revolt against KCR and KTR and deciding to resign to TRS.

A lady MPTC member lashed out at finance minister T.Harish Rao for stating that MPTC system will soon be abolished in Telangana when she sought funds to develop her mandal.

She posted a video saying if there were no sarpanches, ZPTCs, MPTCs, KCR’s daughter Kavitha could have faced defeat again in MLC election for Nizamabad local bodies seat in October last year.

She threatened to show the power of local bodies representatives to TRS in upcoming elections.

Real game behind KCR’s second Delhi visit in a month

0

His detractors call Telangana CM KCR a Farmhouse Chief Minister and Pragathi Bhavan CM to highlight his penchant for being confined to these two properties. Now, another address could very well be added. He might soon be called the Delhi CM. The Telangana CM is visiting Delhi for a second time in a month. The earlier tour was for a record nine days and this is officially for two days. But, don’t be surprised if it gets extended.

However, political analysts feel that KCR’s tour is more about optics. He wants to show off his ‘proximity’ to PM Narendra Modi and the Central BJP leadership. The aim? To unnerve the state BJP and to create an impression that he is friendly with the BJP at the Centre. The observers feel this is a mind-game that KCR is playing with the BJP.

He would be in Delhi to attend the meeting of the CMs of the Naxal affected areas. In addition, he would meet Minister Piyush Goel and Gajendra Shekhavat to discuss paddy procurement and Krishna waters respectively. Normally, KCR does not attend the meeting on the Naxal issue. He has in the past sent his DGP and other officials. He is even known to skip Niti Ayog meetings. But this time around, he chose to go to Delhi again within a span of a fortnight.

The idea, according to analysts, is to create a perception that BJP and the TRS are friends at the Centre and that their fight in the Centre is no more than a shadow-boxing. This will dilute the BJP’s struggle in Huzurabad, which will soon witness a prestigious bypoll, where BJP’s Eatala Rajender is locked in a battle with the TRS. The TRS is committing all its resources to win the bypoll. This visit is aimed at sowing confusion in the pro-BJP voters., say analysts.

0

The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 1,200 crore to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) for improving drinking water supply to urban local bodies and gram panchayats around Greater Hyderabad.

The project will cater to the drinking water requirements of these areas till 2036.

The department of municipal administration and urban development accorded administrative sanction for the construction of additional service reservoirs for 137 UMLD and laying of additional pipelines for 2,100 kilometers. These are for providing adequate drinking water supply for ULBs and gram panchayats falling within Outer Ring Road (ORR) and outside Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) under jurisdiction of HMWS&SB.

HMWS&SB had already implemented a water supply project for 190 villages situated beyond GHMC and within ORR limits at a cost of Rs 756.56 crore under Annuity Mode of Contract. Under this project, 164 reservoirs of 70 ML capacity, 1,600 km length of pipeline network were developed and house service connections were provided. The project was successfully completed and commissioned.

According to Managing Director, HMWS&SB the housing colonies situated beyond the Gramakanta extent of villages were not covered in this project. Various residential welfare associations approached the government and requested to extend the water supply infrastructure to their colonies on par with the Mission Bhageerata program to provide water supply connection to every house as per the government’s policy.

The government had directed him to submit the proposals for developing required infrastructure to all such housing colonies which are situated beyond the Gramakanta of villages.

The HMWS&SB had engaged NCPE Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ltd for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the consultant submitted the DPR proposals for providing water supply to extended areas of ORR villages.

Double whammy for Telangana citizens: Hike in RTC fares, Power bills soon

0

It’s going to be a double whammy for the people of Telangana soon. One cannot say for sure whether it would be before the Huzurabad bypoll or after, but the power tariff and the RTC bus fares are all set to shoot up. But the people will have to pay through their nose for using power and traveling in the bus.

The last time the power tariff was hiked was in 2016-17. Now, a hike has become inevitable, say the Discom officials. They said that while the per unit cost is Rs 7.31, what the Discoms are charging is just Rs 6. 29. So the Discoms are left with no option but to effect a hike of up to Rs 1.50 per unit on commercial connections and 50 – 70 paise on household connections. Thus the Discoms will mop up an additional Rs 2000 – 2500 crore. Highly placed sources say that the CM is left with no option but to give his nod to the hike.

Sources say that the Centre has given nod to the State Governments to revise the power tariffs on a quarterly basis.

Similarly, the TSRTC is contemplating to effect a hike in the bus fares by 20 – 30 per cent to reduce its losses. However, the hike would be in a graded manner. The Pallavelugu and Ordinary buses will have lower hike, while the deluxe, luxury and inter-state buses will see a steeper hike.

The RTC feels that it can increase its income through non-ticket income. Through this mode , it can earn up to Rs 600 crore every year. The RTC has Rs 60000 crore worth of wasteful lands, which it can sell off or give on lease to generate income. The daily expenditure of the RTC is between Rs 13 and 14 crore, while the daily income is Rs 9.95 crore.

KCR caught between devil and deep sea!

0

TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao is in a fix on how and when to proceed on TSRTC ticket fare hike and power charges hike.

The Huzurabad Assembly by poll is expected by November end.

If KCR hikes RTC and power charges now, it will adversely affect TRS in by poll.

If he delays the hike till new financial year 2022-23 beginning April 1, 2022, it may affect party in Assembly polls in 2023.

The hike will give weapon for opposition parties to launch agitation programmes across Telangana against TRS to protest against hikes.

If KCR waits until 2023 Assembly polls to increase charges, the TSRTC and TS Discoms will collapse by then as they are already in deep losses.

In Huzurabad, TRS is aggressively campaigning against BJP for increasing petrol, diesel and LPG prices.

If TRS government hikes RTC, power charges now, the BJP will fix TRS.

KCR is reportedly clueless on how to proceed on these issues without risking TRS political prospects.

This politician has friends in all parties and only one ENEMY

0

He is not a full time politician, but is seen hobnobbing with all politicians. He is associated with two major political parties, but is not part of any party. He is friendly with all, but is enemies with the ruling TRS. Guess who this politician is? No marks for guessing. It’s Konda Vishweshwara Reddy.

He is a sort of an enigma…!! He is with Revanth Reddy and throws up the “White Challenge” for KTR. At the same time, he is pally with Bandi Sanjay and vows to support Eatala Rajender in Huzurabad.

Konda Vishweshwara Reddy hails from a political family. His grandfather KV Rangareddy was a political stalwart. But, Konda forayed into business and industry. But in 2014, he joined the TRS and became Chevella MP. Soon, he showed his fierce streak of independence and fell out with the party. He joined the Congress, fought for the MP seat from Chevella and lost. He has come out of the Congress and stayed dormant for some time. Now, he is back to active politics, without joining any party. There were rumours that he would join the BJP, but he did not. He himself said that he would work with the Congress if Revanth becomes PCC chief, but is yet to join it.

Yet, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy is able to make a splash and make headlines too. There’s no comparison with Konda. He is unique in that he has friends in both the parties. His aim is to destroy the TRS. But will Konda Vishweshwar Reddy succeed in his endeavour? Let’s wait and watch.

Drain expansion drive in Hyderabad to avoid flood-like situation

0

Telangana’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to develop ‘nalas’ (drains) to avoid a flood-like situation in Hyderabad.

The minister held a review on the development and expansion works of nalas which will be taken up in the GHMC limits.

To prevent inundation in the city, GHMC officials have come up with a comprehensive programme for the development of nalas which was reviewed by KTR, as the minister is popularly known.

He stated that there was a need to strengthen the age-old nala and sewer system, keeping in mind the rapid urbanisation, and the government is working towards the same by coming up with a comprehensive nala development programme.

He noted that Hyderabad has been recording heavy to very heavy rains in recent times, and to avoid a flood-like situation in the city, the government is taking up nalas development and expansion works.

The government wants to take up these works in a well-planned manner to ensure no citizen goes through any kind of inconvenience in the future, said KTR. He added that the government will take care of the poor who get affected by these works.

The minister directed the officials to take up all these works along with the Strategic Nala Development Programme. He asked the officials to identify bottlenecks in nalas and clear them on a war footing.

A meeting will be called soon with all the MLAs from GHMC limits, he added.

KCR decides to hike TSRTC ticket fares and power charges soon!

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to hike TSRTC bus charges and power charges in Telangana very soon. He said the decision will be taken in the next cabinet meeting to be held very soon. KCR held a review meeting on TSRTC and TS Discoms at Pragathi Bhavan late on Tuesday night.

The officials informed the CM that since diesel price increased by Rs 22 per litre in the last one and half years, RTC had to bear an additional loss of Rs 550 Crore. They said along with the increased diesel and petrol prices, the increase in the prices of tyres, tubes and other spare parts of the buses was also pushing RTC into losses. All these increased costs are putting Rs 600 Crore additional burden on the Corporation, they said.

The officials said with Corona Pandemic impact on one side and the increase in the price of petrol diesel and spare parts have doubled the adverse impact on the RTC financial situation. In this backdrop, they said that the Corona Pandemic lock down had resulted in the RTC losing Rs 3000 Crore revenue. In Hyderabad zone alone the losses were about Rs 90 Crore per month, the officials explained to the CM. They said 97 Depots across the state were also running into losses. In these troubled times, there was no option but to increase the Bus ticket rates. In this context, the Ministers and RTC officials have explained to the CM the need to increase the bus fares.

They made it clear to the CM that hike in bus fares was the only option for the RTC to come out of its financial crisis occurred due to Corona and rise in diesel, petrol and spare parts prices, otherwise the very existence of the Corporation in jeopardy.

The CM said that the government would take all the required measures to support the RTC and asked the officials concerned to come out with a report with proposals to the next Cabinet. He said the proposals would be discussed in the Cabinet and decisions would be taken.

The CM also discussed with Energy Minister Jagadeesh Reddy and Genco, Transco CMD Prabhakar Rao on the issue of electricity in the State. They said that like all other sectors, the electricity sector too in heavy losses due to the Corona pandemic. They said that the electricity charges have not been increased for the past six years and there was no option left but to increase them now to put the power sector back on track. The CM said that along with the RTC proposals, proposals for the Electricity department would also be discussed in the next Cabinet and a decision would be taken. The CM instructed the Transport and Energy Ministers to come with proposals to the next Cabinet.

Journalists moving away from TRS!

0

Telangana journalists associations played a key role in Telangana statehood agitation.

Although Telangana journalists were working in media organizations owned by Seemandra managements, they openly supported TRS and KCR and took part in Telangana statehood agitations by risking their jobs.

Now the situation has completely changes after the formation of Telangana state and KCR becoming Chief Minister in 2014.

Now the same Telangana journalist associations are expressing severe anger at KCR and TRS government.

Journalist associations have given a call to all journalists in Telangana to work against TRS and bring down KCR government in 2023 Assembly polls.

The reason KCR did not fulfill a single promise made to journalists in his seven year rule especially on giving house sites or 2BHK houses as promised by him in 2014.

Even the health cards given by KCR failed as no private hospital is accepting those cards with TRS government not clearing bills to hospitals.

Journalist associations are angry at KCR’s use and throw policy towards journalists after coming to power.

Sweeper till yesterday, Hyderabad woman becomes Asst Entomologist

0

Moved by the plight of a woman who was working as a sweeper despite holding a masters’ degree in science, Telangana’s Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday offered her the job of Assistant Entomologist on outsourcing basis in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

A. Rajani, who had done MSc (organic chemistry), was working as a sweeper on contract basis in the GHMC.

Responding to a report published about the woman in a leading Telugu daily, the minister offered her a job commensurate with her qualification.

Special Chief Secretary, Urban Development, Arvind Kumar, who took Rajani to the minister, revealed the job offered to her. He tweeted that orders were issued after verifying her credentials.

Rajani, who has two daughters, became emotional when the minister assured her all the support and offered her job as Assistant Entomologist in the Entomology Department.

Hailing from Warangal district, Rajani was born in a family of agriculture labourers. Despite the financial problems, she continued her studies with the support of parents and passed MSc (organic chemistry) with first grade in 2013. Telangana Guv calls for better health infra to treat snakebite victims

0

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday called for improved healthcare infrastructure in primary health centres to offer timely and better treatment to the snakebite victims.

She said that timely treatment and the availability of anti-venom injections, and trained medical staff at the primary health centres will help save the lives of the snakebite victims.

The governor was addressing the National Snakebite Awareness Summit, organised in a virtual mode by the Integrated Health and Wellbeing Council, New Delhi.

Tamilisai, who is a physician, expressed concern that the country was registering an alarming number of deaths due to the snakebite.

“Most of the deaths are preventable with greater awareness and improved and accessible healthcare,” she added.

She suggested the establishment of dialysis centre attached to the primary health centres to offer the immediate treatment to those with the renal failure due to the snakebite.

Tamilisai Soundararajan called for the region-specific treatment protocols to treat the snakebite victims and to administer the anti-venom injections, when required.

The governor appreciated the efforts of the Integrated Health and Wellbeing Council (IHWC) for its efforts in creating awareness on snakebite prevention and treatment.

IHWC chief executive officer Kamal Narayan, Bharat Serums & Vaccines Limited chief operating officer Vishwanath Swarup, and others were present.

KTR ready to undergo tests for drugs

0

Rejecting allegations of Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy linking him to the drugs racket, State Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday said he was ready to give samples for drug tests and asked whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too would give samples for the same.

Rama Rao took strong exception to Revanth Reddy’s allegation. “How am I connected to this (drugs case). I will give blood, hair, and even liver samples. Will Rahul Gandhi too give his samples?,” he asked the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president.

In an informal chat with reporters, KTR reacted strongly to Revanth Reddy’s allegation that he has become a brand ambassador for drugs in the state.

He warned that the government will not hesitate to book cases against those making baseless allegations. Referring to the case booked against central minister Narayan Rane for slap remark against Maharashtra chief minister, KTR said Telangana government will also start booking those making baseless allegations and using objectionable words against the chief minister. He said if needed such leaders will be booked for sedition.

“We have history of all the leaders. How a person who used to work as a painter acquired four houses in Jubliee Hills,” KTR asked apparently referring to Revanth Reddy.

The minister said leaders of Congress party themselves have claimed that Revanth Reddy bought the post of TPCC president for Rs 50 crore. “Will a person who purchased PCC chief’s post will not sell MLA tickets tomorrow?” he asked.

The TRS leader also reacted to allegations made by union home minister Amit Shah during a public meeting at Nirmal on Friday. “No one is afraid of MIM. It’s BJP which is scared,” he said while reacting to Shah’s remark that TRS government is afraid of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM).

On BJP leader’s demand to celebrate September 17 as ‘Telangana Liberation Day’, the minister said TRS would not support any attempts to target one particular community. He pointed out that TRS as a political party celebrated September 17 as Merger Day.

“For us June 2 is Liberation Day because it was on this that Telangana came into being as a state after a long struggle,” he said.

KTR wanted to know what BJP MPs from Telangana have done for the state. He remarked that ‘Dilli parties are doing silly politics’.

He said people know why new parties have come up in the state. He wondered why YSR Telangana Party leader Y.S. Sharmila and BSP leader Praveeen Kumar were not speaking about Congress and BJP.

2 major anti-government rallies, but why is KCR still happy?

1

Chief Minister KCR must be laughing in his sleeves by the evening of September 17. He must be feeling smug and satisfied. The reason? He is happy at the stupendous success of the two Opposition rallies. One was by the BJP, which focused on September 17 and no less a person than Amit Shah was the star attraction of the largely attended programme.

The second is the anti-TRS rally organized by the Congress party in Gajwel, his constituency. This too was a well-attended rally and Revanth raved and ranted against KCR. But the rallies hogged the media space on September 17. Several media houses gave live coverage of both the events. But, instead of getting worried, KCR must be feeling happy.

Why? KCR feels happy because the anti-TRS and anti-KCR sentiment will be divided between the two competing rivals. Both the BJP and the Congress will divide the anti-TRS votes. This division will help KCR win the elections in 2023. If one of the two parties is weaker, the anti-TRS voters would consolidate behind the stronger of the two. This polarization might affect KCR’s apple car. But now that both are emerging stronger, the likelihood of anti-incumbency votes getting divided is growing.

KCR is also happy for another reason. The more the BJP talks about the liberation of Hyderabad, the more Muslim voters will turn towards the TRS. This reverse polarization is sure to help the TRS. Anti-BJP sentiment will prove beneficial to the ruling TRS in a significant way. After all, Nirmal, Adilabad, Khanapur and Bhainsa are communally sensitive and the BJP programme was held in Nirmal. This will cause reverse polarization, the TRS sources feel.
