KCR behind Viceroy Hotel coup against NTR?

0

In 1995, TDP MLAs led by N. Chandrababu Naidu revolted against the then chief minister N.T. Rama Rao whose government was toppled then. All this happened with MLAs camping at Hotel Viceroy in Hyderabad at that time. It was since then called the Viceroy Hotel coup that opened a new chapter in the TDP’s onward march in AP politics.

In his recent attack, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao has accused Chandrababu of cheating and snatching power from the hands of his own father-in-law NTR and that was characteristic of CBN. KCR said this to highlight that his coming to power was different as led the struggle with confidence and conviction which led to formation of separate Telangana state. But KCR forgot what role he played in the coup against NTR.

In a strong counter allegation, Chandrababu asked whether KCR did not play a major role in replacing NTR or not. Naidu said it was not correct on the part of KCR now to make false allegations against him. Chandrasekhara Rao was very much a leader of the Telugu Desam Party at that time and he supported the leadership of CBN in the transition of power. CBN also asked it was the same KCR who had later served as a minister in his cabinet. Just like many MLAs at that time, KCR has also supported Naidu and all that was obviously to prevent Lakshmi Parvathi from rising to a position second only to NTR.

KCR predicts Chandrababu downfall, laughs at white papers

0

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao made an unsparing attack on TDP National President and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. KCR said Chandrababu will not win the 2019 election and there are plenty of reasons for the same. KCR is particularly angry over the Telugu Desam Party’s criticism that the TRS is also responsible for AP not getting the special category status as promised at the time of bifurcation.

KCR said he is ready to write a letter to the Modi government to recommend special status for AP but at the same time equal industrial incentives should be given to Telangana as well. This is what the TDP leaders are objecting as KCR is adopting double standards. While on the one hand KCR is speaking in favour of special status to AP and on the other hand he is asking similar incentives for Telangana. Moreover, he says this has been promised at the time of reorganisation.

Stating that TRS is not against AP, KCR said that he himself has spoken in favour of bifurcation promises to AP while his party leaders K Kesava Rao and Kavita have talked about this at various forums. KCR has particularly attacked Naidu’s white papers, saying that Chandrababu’s speeches are full of lies. Naidu has snatched away the TDP from his father-in-law NT Rama Rao which is known to everybody, said KCR

TRS to set up office in New Delhi

0

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will be constructing its own building in the national capital for party activities. As part of the norms, the Centre generally would allot land measuring upto 1,000 square yards for political parties in New Delhi. TRS supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will soon finalise the location among the given choices by the Centre.

KCR along with his Vasthu adviser Suddala Sudhakar Teja and party MPS will be inspecting several locations for choosing an ideal place for the TRS party building in the national capital. Party MPs said that KCR will finalise on land location today (Friday) and may lay foundation stone after Sankranthi festival. The TRS party building is expected to be completed within three months and may be operational from Ugadi 2019.

With this, KCR is setting the stage for his Mission Federal Front and will intensify activity ahead of 2019 general elections. During the past four days, KCR has been busy with meeting leaders of regional parties in different states such as Odisha, Pashchim Bangla. KCR also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a list of unfulfilled assurances mentioned in AP Reorganisation Act-2014.

Bhupalapally Congress MLA rules out joining TRS

0

Hyderabad: Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, Congress MLA from Bhupalapally, has ruled out any possibility of joining Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), while agreeing that TRS is luring MLAs with attractive packages. People with some vested interests are spreading such rumours, he said.

“I will remain with Congress party, which gave me several positions such as party president for undivided Warangal, MLC, MLA and Chief Whip. Congress party is like my birth place and I will never leave it. I will fight on behalf of people for fulfilling poll promises by the TRS party,” said Reddy.

He is also open to justify the role of opposition leader in the House. Reddy on Congress ticket won from Bhupalapally with 69,918 votes, while TRS fell to third position in the constituency. With 54,283 votes, Gandra Satyanarayana Rao of All India Forward Block stood at second position and former Speaker Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary of TRS got 53,567 votes.

KCR game plan: To win over 14 MLAs from Congress

0

The TRS is going to implement the same plan already carried out in Telangana Legislative Council in the Assembly also. CM K Chandrasekhara Rao has set a target to win over nearly 14 MLAs from the Congress so that the Congress Legislature Party will be merged with the TRS party. This will meet the two-thirds majority required for the merger as the Congress won 19 MLAs seats in 119-member House.

Once this game plan is successfully implemented, KCR will move to remove the Opposition party status to the Congress in the Assembly as well. Already, it has happened in the Council where four Congress MLCs have merged with the TRS reducing the Congress party without necessary number to enjoy the opposition party status.

With the TRS chief using all his tactics, the Congress leaders are not able to come out with suitable plans to counter KCR’s moves and strategies. Ever since the formation of separate Telangana, there is a reversal of roles between the Congress and the TRS. Prior to bifurcation, KCR told Sonia Gandhi that he would merge the TRS with the Congress party right after the Centre announced separate Telangana.
But once the Congress government formed separate state, the KCR party changed tactics and proposed an alliance after the polls. Later, KCR took a totally anti-Congress stand after coming to power and, now, the TRS chief is attacking the very existence of the Congress party in Telangana state.

Complaint on Lagadapati for misleading voters

0

It is known news that Andhra Octopus Lagadapati’s predictions gone miserably wrong this time. The final results are nowhere near to the numbers predicted by Lagadapati. Now, TRS leader complained to election commission on Lagadapati for misleading voters with mal-intent.

Lagadapati earlier predicted Praja kootami led by Congress will win 65 seats (+ or – 10), TRS 35 seats (+ or – 10), TDP 7 (+ or – 2) , independents around 8-10 seats. However TRS won 88 seats out of 119 seats. Lagadapati didn’t give any clarification after the results yet, though he told in Tirumala that he shouldn’t have talked politics in Tirumala. But his announcement about predictions just before the elections is landing him into trouble.

Now a smalltime leader in TRS, Venkataramana Reddy complained to Election Commission on Lagadapati for misleading voters with malintent. He wrote in his complaint that Lagadapati revealing the predictions before elections is against the rules of election commission and urged EC to take legal actions on Lagadapati.

We will have to wait and see how EC responds on this complaint.

Election effect on Andhra Jyothy?

0

Most of the media houses nowadays are openly supporting political parties. In Telugu states, even a school kid can say which media house supports or owned by which political party. Now there is a debate that Andhra Jyothy paper, who gave a shocker to KCR before elections is at receiving end.

Details as below:

Andhra Jyothy paper and TV channel, as every one knows, openly supports TDP and its supremo Chandra babu naidu. However, after TDP losing its ground, it became staunch supporter of TRS party between 2015-2018. All these years, Andhra Jyothy supported TRS and the benefit of supporting ruling party is, as eveyone knows, getting full-page and ads and other ads from the government. However, Andhra Jyothy gave a shocker to KCR and TRS, by suddenly changing its stand and completely supporting Praja kootami led by Congress and TDP. Andhra Jyothy went overboard and it over-hyped Praja kootami. At a point of time, it ran stories predicting TRS’s defeat. There is nothing wrong in writing such stories, if they are really genuine. But the media house that supported TRS all these 4 years and ran highly positive stories that time, suddenly changing the tune surprised people and irked TRS leadership.

There have been reports that TRS may cut down the ads given to Andhra Jyothi in future. KTR, reportedly expressed his displeasure over the way Andhra Jyothi behaved during election. TRS followers gave ads to newspapers today and surprisingly many other newspapers got the ads but not Andhra Jyothi. Many people are debating whether this move by TRS followers is any indication of TRS stand on this paper in future. Only time will answer to that question.

AP Minister Adi Narayana fumes at Jagan and Pawan regarding TRS win

0

Andhra Pradesh Minister and TDP leader Adi Narayana fumes at Jagan and Pawan as their cadres are openly celebrating the success of TRS in Telangana elections. He questioned Jagan and Pawan how can they support TRS party that fought for Telangana against the interest of people of Andhra Pradesh.

However, people are lambasting at Adi Narayana Reddy and reminding that, in Telangana elections, TDP has allied with Congress party which was the main culprit for the unscientific bifurcation of the state and yet criticizing YSRCP and Janasena for congratulating TRS. They are questioning how can TDP leaders support everything they did and question other parties.

TDP leaders need to mend their ways and understand that these kind of comments won’t help their party.
Otherwise, TDP may have to face the similar results in AP also.

Secretariat is where CM is: KCR

0

Chief Minister in waiting K Chandrasekhar Rao has mocked at the rivals for their comments on his not going to the secretariat for administering the state. He asks what does it concern as the secretariat is where CM is. Earlier, Congress leader Revanth Reddy while accepting defeat suggested that KCR at least visit Secretariat to run the state properly.

As TRS got a landslide majority, KCR shared the happy occasion with party leaders and addressed the media later. He said those who are defeated are talking about his ruling from the farm house even now. He thanked the people for their support and said TRS will implement welfare programmes with greater focus to benefit the poorer sections.

KCR questioned the dominance of the Congress and the BJP at the national level, saying what does it concern for the Centre to stand in the way of the State Governments. The states should be given freedom to carry out development activities in urban development, agriculture, irrigation and other areas, he said.

KCR expressed concern Telangana got to have more Muslim and tribals populations after separate statehood but the supreme court order puts a limit on the reservations which should be solved. He said his proposal for a non-Congress and non-BJP alliance at national level will solve most problems in the States.

TRS running towards clear majority

0

Finally election counting has started and within first one hour of the counting trend started emerging and the it is very clear that TRS is running towards a complete majority. By the end of second round, TRS is leading in 80 constituencies out of 119 constituencies where as Congress and its allies are leading only in 20 seats. BJP is leading in 3 seats and MIM also leading in 3 seats. Other independent candidates are leading in 2 seats.

Top leaders in congress like shabeer Ali, Revanth Reddy, ponnala lakshmaiah, Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy and bhatti vikramarka all are lagging behind TRS candidates. PCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy is leading but with slight majority. Gandhi Bhavan is filled with disappointment and no top leader including Uttam Kumar Reddy came to Gandhi Bhavan today. Another key party in Praja kootami TDP is not leading in any constituency in Telangana including Kukatpally and serilingampally

As per the trends, car is running with speed of 80 at this moment but we’ll have to wait and see what will be the final number of seats.

BJP open to support TRS sans – AIMIM

0

Hyderabad: BJP-Telangana president Dr K Laxman said the party was open to extend support to TRS in case it doesn’t make it to the magical figure of 60 seats in the 119 seats of Telangana Assembly. However, this is subject to a condition that TRS shouldn’t be in alliance with AIMIM, said Dr K Laxman, BJP-Telangana president.

Responding to this, TRS spokesperson Bhanuprasad ruled out any such situation as the pink party will get the absolute majority.

BJP has also made it clear that it wouldn’t support Congress or AIMIM.

“In case people have not given a clear mandate, then we’ll be part of the government. We’ll not support Cognress or AIMIM. But other options are open. We’ll consider the option of supporting TRS in case it doesn’t get the required majority and keeps AIMIM away. However, the decision will be taken in consultation with our high command,” said Laxman.

The poll results for Telangana Assembly are scheduled to be announced on December 11 (Tuesday).

Naidu posing as national level leader, assembly results will backfire: TRS leader Kavitha

0

Andhdra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was posing as a national-level leader to hide his failures in the state and the results of assembly polls in Telangana will badly backfire on him and the Congress for any alliance at the Centre, says TRS leader K. Kavitha.

Kavitha, an MP who is daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, told IANS in an interview that Telangana Rashtra Samithi will win the assembly polls hands down and it will then start working towards a national alternative which does not have BJP or Congress.

“Basically, Chandrababu Naidu is losing ground in Andhra Pradesh so he wants to pose as a national level leader so that there might be some advantage in Andhra Pradesh. To make sure his failures in Andhra Pradesh are not be highlighted, he is diverting people’s attention to the so-called national level alliance but it will backfire very badly both for him and Congress also,” Kavitha said.

She was asked about efforts by Naidu to bring opposition parties together to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and if he could emerge as a pivot of opposition unity.

“Because in Telanagana results, you will see that this alliance has been beaten. Do you think it will be taken at the national level once it is beaten at the state level? All the effort Naidu is making is to divert the attention of people from his own administration in Andhra Pradesh,” she said.

Naidu and leaders of several other opposition parties are slated to meet in the national capital on Monday to decide the way forward to take on the BJP-led NDA.

Naidu, who was part of the National Democratic Alliance, had quit it earlier this year and allied with its traditional rival Congress in the Telangana polls.

The CPI and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), a new party floated by M. Kodandaram, who was once Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s friend in the Telangana movement, are also part of the alliance.

Kavitha said an alternate political platform should be encouraged.

“We are going to anyway wins down hands down the assembly polls so the impact will be positive in the Lok Sabha in polls and we will win all the seats. We are very confident about it. We will not ally with anybody. We proposed a federal front which will have no BJP, no Congress. People have given them a lot chance. There should be an alternate politial platform in the country which should be encouraged. TRS will play a role great role in forming this political platform. After assembly polls, we will start focusing on the national agenda,” she explained.

She said the December 11 results will show that the alliance – People’s Front – has been rejected, adding the opposition parties had also come together in previous bypolls but lost.

“This alliance has been constantly working against the interest of our state. We have an oppostiion which is very irresponsible,” Kavitha said and alleged Congress had sought to stall a major irrigation project through court cases.

She said the alliance has hit credibility of both the TDP and the Congress.

“TDP was fundamentally formed to oppose Congress. It was N.T. Rama Rao’s wish. Now, the current day TDP has compromised its own core philosophy and principles. Now, if a political party has compromised its own core ideology, the people are bound not to take it seriously anymore. That is what happened to TDP allying with Congress. It will hit them hard.”

She said the party had implemented all its promises and had striven to win around 100 of the 119 seats in the assembly.

She said rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had little impact and said BJP was not a factor in the state.

Asked about the decision to go for early polls, she said the idea was to make sure that the narrative of the election is about and around Telangana

“If we had election around the parliamentary election, the discussion would be mandir, masjid, Rafale, Bofors and which would have nothing for Telangana. The effort that TRS our leader put in for four-and-a-half years should not go waste,” Kavitha explained.

TRS, Cong and TDP candidates gripped by fears of cross voting

0

With two days left for final counting day, the contesting candidates of both the ruling TRS and the opposition Congress allies are concerned about the likely impact of various issues especially money factor. They are all under the grip of fears of cross voting that voters resort to at the time of casting their votes. The cash distribution is the principal factor that influences voters who change their decision at the last minute.

The Telangana early polls have witnessed high-pitched battles between TRS and People’s Front candidates who mounted attacks against each other in media campaigns as well as in the use of community and money power. Many segments are expected to witness slender majorities for winning candidates below 3,000 or 2,000.

Usually, the political parties’ candidates will have an understanding on the pockets that favour them and those that dot not get influenced by them under any circumstances. But over the years, there are sections of voters who are accepting money from all sides and casting their votes as per their will.
Because of the cross voting factor, the major parties are unable to come to an idea to what extent the use of money by rivals will impact their chances. There are fears that candidates’ money may end up in the pockets of second-rung leaders who may not be faithful to their parties to the full. However, analysts say cross voting mars candidates’ chances only in a few segments and it will have an impact in overall fortunes of parties in government formation.

Both TRS, Congress confident of victory in Telangana

0

With polling coming to an end for the Assembly elections in Telangana on Friday, both the ruling TRS and the main opposition Congress were confident of a victory.

While the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) exuded confidence of retaining the power, Congress was sure that the People’s Front led by it will form the next government.

TRS leader K.T. Rama Rao said the party would win two-thirds majority in the 119-member Assembly.

After voting in Siddipet district, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao exuded confidence that the TRS would win the polls with a huge majority.

Congress party’s Telangana unit President Uttam Kumar Reddy, however, remained confident that the alliance would come to power. He told reporters that the alliance would win 85 seats.

Congress Working President Revanth Reddy claimed that the people had given a mandate in favour of the People’s Front.

About 70 percent of 2.8 crore voters voted in the single-phase polling on Friday. Vote count will take place on December 11.

TRS banks on freebies and schemes: Rivals challenge

0

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is now banking mostly on the welfare schemes it has launched and implemented in the past four years to counter united opposition attack. CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is confident of winning over Prajakutami thanks to the many freebies and schemes distributed among people. Many governments usually take up welfare programmes but KCR has his own style in implementing such schemes by getting wide popular attention.

As pro-TRS surveys give out reasons for KCR chances this time as well, it comes up for discussion as to which are these welfare schemes that may make the difference. As the fight is becoming very close and neck-and-neck, the factors like the impact of freebies are expected to change the fortunes. Though KCR has not made one woman part of his ministerial team, he has made sure a lot many schemes are place to take care of women welfare.

CM repeatedly talks about Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak scheme, saying such schemes of providing an assistance Rs. 1,00,116 for poor girl’s marriage is not present anywhere in the country. Then there is Arogya Lakhsmi which provides health support for lactating mothers. Another scheme called Amma Vadi and KCR Kit are intended to support poor women.

The Ruthu Bandhu scheme is another populist one from KCR who has targetted over 58 lakh farmers in Telangana. The scheme was designed to extend support to farmers with regard to their crop investment and recovery. Mission Bhageeratha is one large scheme involving Rs. 43,000 crore expenditure that has attracted criticism from rivals but its goals are populist to provide safe drinking water to all villages and towns in the state. The other schemes are ‘Aasara’ pensions, Sheep Distribution, Haritha Haaram and Double Bedroom Housing.

CPS Survey predicts 94-104 to TRS: how far it will impact voters?

0

CPS – centre for psephology studies published its survey results for upcoming Telangana elections. Top news channel telecast this survey results and they even had discussion with the psephologist.

Survey methodology:

The survey results are one sided , predicting massive victory for TRS party. The CPS claimed the survey is done between November 25th to 29th i.e. 3 days after the deadline for withdrawing nominations on November 22nd. Because, surveys done before the finalisation of candidates may not be accurate. Also CPS claimed it had taken feedback from 2,86,567 people and it included all 119 constituencies.

Vote percentage for parties as per this survey results are as below:

TRS: 49.7%
Praja Kootami: 32.3%
BJP: 9.1%
MIM: 2.4%
Others: 6.5%

Number of seats for parties as per this survey results are as below:

TRS: 94-104
Praja Kootami: 16-21
BJP: 1-2
MIM: 7
Others: 1

Some of the salient points from the CPS psephologist:

  • Allying with TDP is the biggest blunder congress did
  • Many key leaders in Praja Kootami also will lose elections this time
  • TDP graph has been consistently going south since 2016 in Telangana and most of it’s vote bank has already been eroded
  • CPS psephologist also claim that they predicted 159 seats for Congress party in 2009 and actual result is very very close to this number. Also they claimed that they predicted 98 seats for TRS in GHMC elections which is also very very close to the actual result.

Is this survey to counter Lagadapati survey?

There is no doubt that, there is some positive mood among people towards TRS and definitely TRS has an edge. But this survey raised many doubts among people as it predicted abnormal numbers like 94 to 104 seats for TRS. Moreover, recently Andhra octopus Lagadapati revealed that many independent MLAs are going to win the elections this time and that created lot of tremors in political circles. After Lagadapati statements, many people started doubting the prospects of TRS. So many observers are seeing this CPS survey telecast in top news channel as a counter to Lagadapati survey.

How far this survey will impact voters?

Had the survey predicted somewhere between 70 to 80 seats for TRS, people might have believed this survey. But 94 to 104 seats for TRS definitely looks biased and some people even doubt whether this is a sponsored survey. Especially because of the fact that people of Andhra Pradesh or Telangana never heard of this institute’s name before, even though CPS is saying that they have predicted 2009 elections and GHMC elections with utmost accuracy. Moreover, the numbers they have predicted for TRS are exactly same as what KCR has been saying. On the other hand, most of the other surveys also predicted TRS having an edge compared to other parties but none of them predicted such whopping numbers for TRS.

Anyway most of the people might have already decided regarding home to cast their vote. We will have to wait for one more week to see who will have the last laugh in Telangana.

TRS candidate defeating himself in Musheerabad, why?

0

Musheerabad is an important segment in Hyderabad city limits. The TRS has fielded Mutha Gopal who has suddenly stopped campaigning for the past four days. His followers say Gopal is ill and he is taking treatment in a city hospital. But the Congress leaders say there is something foul about this and Gopal’s withdrawal from electioneering is a carefully calculated move approved by the TRS leadership.
Under the Prajakutami alliance, Musheerabad ticket is allotted to the Congress which has fielded Dr. Anil Kumar Yadav. As the Congress is getting support from the TDP, TJS and CPI, the TRS is preparing to take on the allies by having an alleged secret understanding with the BJP. Musheerabad is stated to be the clear example. Here, sitting MLA Dr. K Laxman is once again contesting on the BJP ticket. He is also the BJP state president.

In 2014 election, Mutha Gopal contested on TRS ticket and secured 37,823 votes while Dr. Laxman polled 65,209 votes winning the seat on BJP ticket. TRS allotted the ticket once again to Gopal but this time the candidate faced allegations of not electioneering properly from the beginning. Following this, the Congress sees a strong challenge from the BJP because of its alleged deal with the TRS.
As a step to fight back, the Congress leaders are campaigning hard explaining the unholy secret deals that KCR is having with the communal parties like the BJP and the MIM. They are trying to mobilise greater support from the anti-BJP and anti-TRS parties and groups in the segment.

Kodangal sees all-out war between TRS and Congress

0

Telangana Congress Committee Working President Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal segment in Vikarabad district has become a hotbed of all out war between the ruling TRS and the main opposition Congress party. CM K Chandrasekhara Rao has turned special attention here and the TRS leaders have been creating some problem or the other like making police complaints and getting searches made in Revanth’s followers’ houses.

Consequently, Revanth’s followers have also taken a serious, aggressive stand challenging the TRS for a do or die battle. They called for a bandh to protest against the CM KCR’s public meeting in Kodangal. Revanth’s followers have also threatened to obstruct the CM’s meeting by issuing statements locally. Alarmed at the sudden turn of events, the TRS leaders have complained to the election authorities about this issue. The Election Commission has directed the DGP to look into the details and take suitable action on which a report may be sent to the EC as early as possible.

Though the TRS party is making all efforts, it is not able to gain a certain edge in Kodangal considering the huge following that Revanth has personally in the segment. The ruling party has put pressure on Revanth by making complaints and getting searches in the Congress activists’ homes that has met with serious backlash. With the situation turning volatile as of now, the election officials are preparing to take additional steps for ensuring law and order.

Revanth himself squatted on the road amid raising of slogans by his followers when he objected to the police conducting searches and harassing women members of Congress activists’ families. The election war reached a flash point now with both TRS and Congress cadres challenging each other to gain an upper hand.
