Rajinikanth to merge his party with BJP?

1

Tamil Nadu superstar Rajinikanth announced his political entry around 9 months back. He has not yet announced name of his party or any other such details except some rules to be followed by anyone who wants to join his party . However National media reporting the stories that , Rajinikanth is all set to merge his party into BJP and become the leader of saffron party soon.

As per the reports, the possibility of Tamil Nadu superstar Rajnikanth joining hands with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has drastically increased after he held numerous meetings with senior BJP party leaders. National media reported that, in the national capital, Delhi, Rajini held around seven meetings within the span of five days with the BJP stalwarts.

Even though the details of these meetings did not come out, political circles in Delhi are strongly predicting that Rajini may join BJP soon and announce his party is merging with BJP. However this may not go well with his fans as well as Tamil Nadu people. Also it reinforces the impression that current generation of superstars cannot handle politics like those of yesteryears.

We will have to wait and see how true are these rumours.

Who is Lois Sofia, arrested by TN government for anti-BJP slogans

0

Lois Sophia, 28 year old Tamil woman studying in Canada has become a top trend on social media. Reason- she called the BJP government ‘fascist’ in front of BJP Tamil Nadu president and TN government arrested her under non-bailable sections for this.

The incident:

She was travelling by aeroplane in which Tamil Nadu BJP president also there. She shouted in air craft and later in airport that “BJP’s Fascism rule down down!!! “ in front of BJP’s state head Tamilisai Soundarajan. She also shouted back at sofia . Finally , upon Tamlisai complaint, TN government filed cases on her under 3 sections and one of those is non bailable.

Sofia background:

She was from scheduled caste. She is a mathematician from the University of Montreal in Canada. She has been active in campaigning against social issues. She had earlier participated in campaigns against the Sterlite Copper Plant in Tuticorin and some other protests. ( www.telugu360.com/tuticorn-thoothukudi-violence-issue-protest-and-the-future/ )

She earlier participated in Tuticorin movement. During that movement, she strongly criticized the Tamil Nadu government inaction with regard to the Sterlite protests in Tuticorin. She has also voiced her concerns over the way the bjp led Centre has handled several situations of Tamil Nadu

TN government action and political parties reaction:

Tamil Nadu people have been alleging that AIADMK government has become puppet in the hands of Modi. Now, upon complaint from BJP leader, TN government filed cases against her. Actually, filing cases is not an issue but the sections under which Tamilnadu Government filed cases is attracting lot of Criticism from the people. Later , opposition parties like DMK and Congress supported her and lambasted the government. She also received support from actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan.

What is the argument of BJP fans:

BJP fans started vehemently criticising her on social media platforms. They are saying, she should first know what is the meaning of the word fascism. They also point out that her certificate is saying she is belonging to scheduled caste but she is actually a converted Christian. They also question her father’s argument that they are from low class family, as his daughter is studying in Canada. They call her anti Hindu. They are appreciating Tamil Nadu BJP President for doing the right thing as this will stop conversions.

What Sofia supporters are saying:

Many people question the government for taking stringent actions against her for shouting anti bjp slogans. They point out that the non bailable section under which case is filed is absolutely wrong. They also question Tamil Nadu Government’s inaction during Sterlite violence and many other such situations and questioning why it is super active now. They also question if you want to put all the people who shout against BJP behind bars how many lakhs of people you will put in jail?

Overall:

Raising anti government slogans in the public might be punishable but not under non bailable sections. It is clear that AIADMK Government has taken another hasty decision.

Madam, are you not daughter of NTR?

0

While welcoming Kotla Hari Prasad Reddy of YCP in to BJP , Former Union Minister and BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari emphasised the need to strengthen BJP in AP because of the yeoman help being rendered by BJP to AP. Ironically , no political statement in this decade is more ridiculous than this one. Incidentally, she spat venom on TDP for not acknowledging the voluminous funds, help and assistance of this magnitude from centre to Andhra Pradesh. More importantly, she accused TDP of misleading the people of AP by not appreciating BJP for the unprecedented and enormous assistance being given by centre to AP. What a joke ? Amusingly, she exhorted the people of AP to vote for BJP to have corruption free government. Purandeswari needs to realize that the people of AP are not fools and buffoons to be taken for a ride. They are matured enough to assess the level of help rendered by centre to AP. Everybody of AP knows that centre has given only that much towards Capital construction of AP, which is not even a miniscule of what it has given to Gujarat to erect the statue of a national leader. AP people are wise enough to observe what is being meted out to AP in the hands of BJP and how the state is being ditched and deceived by BJP in every possible way by forgetting all its promises and by showing scant respect to the provisions of AP Bifurcation Act relating to SCS, Polavaram, Railway Zone among many others. She shouldn’t assume that people of AP are blind, deaf and dumb.

Actually ,she should have fought against the center to do justice to AP people by taking a leaf out of the book of her iconic father in order to uphold the pride and honour of AP people. If she continues her words and deeds in the same fashion in future, It will be better for her to get nominated to Rajyasabha to become MP rather than contesting for Loksabha in 2019 where she would certainly lose her deposit despite being the daughter of a thespian like NTR.

AP new BJP-incharge’s tweet hitting TDP under the belt

0

It is known news that Sunil Deodhar recently appointed as AP BJP in-charge ( https://www.telugu360.com/key-person-in-bjp-tripura-success-joins-ram-madhav-to-look-after-ap-matters/ ). He was the mastermind behind BJP’s massive victory in Tripura. He posted a tweet straightly aiming at TDP government’s biggest weak point, i.e. development concentrating only to a few pockets in the state. He posted a video about the tragic incident happened in Vizianagaram district. The incident that moved everyone who watched it is as below.

A heavily pregnant woman had to be carried for 12km in a hand-made basket from her home deep inside the forests of Vizayanagaram district after she went into labour. Jindamma, the 22-year-old woman, then gave birth to a baby boy midway who died even before they could reach to an ambulance.

The video and the incident exposed the hollowness of high-tech administration in the state. Sunil Deodhar posted this video in his twitter and asked, ” What does #AndhraPradesh Social Welfare and Tribal Welfare Minister Nakka Ananda Babu has to say on this ? When will @ncbn government look beyond #Amaravati ?”

Even though people of AP are angry on BJP for not granting special category status, just by focusing on BJP’s failure, TDP can not hide it’s own failures. Maternal mortality happening due to lack of infrastructure is definitely indicator of bad governance. Another surprising thing is Telugu media, that usually highlight and make it big issue when these kind of incidents happen outside Telugu states kept mum or downplayed this issue.

BJP sees time for President’s Rule in AP

0

The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have lodged a complaint with Governor E S L Narasimhan seeking President’s Rule in Andhra Pradesh. They met the Governor in Raj Bhavan and submitted a representation to him quoting several instances to justify their demand for the dismissal of the Telugu Desam government and imposition of President’s Rule.

The BJP leaders told the Governor that the ruling TDP leaders have resorted to attack on BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana in Ananthapur on June 27. They also told the Governor that several BJP leaders are being targeted by the TDP activists across the State. The BJP leaders are not being allowed to address meetings or visit places, they said. The physical attacks on the BJP leaders are increasing with the TDP leaders from the Chief Minister to the local councillor giving hate speeches against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party leaders told the Governor.

While asking for extra security cover to BJP AP president Kanna Lakshminarayana, the BJP leaders told the Governor that the government was also using the police to file cases or use force against the BJP leaders. They said that the police were resorting to preventive arrests or house arrests of several BJP leaders, particularly when the Chief Minister is visiting the districts. The police were also denying permission for the BJP meetings in the State, they said.

The BJP leaders also cited the increasing crime against women and minor girls across the State. Senior BJP leader and its youth wing, Yuva Morcha, president S Vishnuvardhan Reddy had led a delegation to the Governor and submitted a representation against the TDP government in the State.

Later, Vishnuvardhan Reddy told media persons that the TDP was misusing its power to silence the Opposition. The political and police restrictions being imposed in Andhra Pradesh were most undemocratic and there is no law and order in the State. The government functioning too had failed with the Chief Minister himself going on fighting mode against the Central government.

Krishnam Raju satires on TDP and Pawan Kalyan

0

Rebel star and BJP leader Krishnam Raju made satirical comments on TDP and Pawan Kalyan. He gave these comments in an interview given to a leading Telugu daily.

Speaking on anti-wave on Modi among Andhra Pradesh people, he told, everybody is saying Center has done injustice to the Andhra Pradesh but nobody is able to clearly tell what injustice exactly did central government do to AP. He opined that state government is intentionally maligning BJP led centre among Telugu people.

Speaking about Pawan Kalyan and Janasena he told, huge crowds attending his meetings doesn’t mean they will vote for that party or leader. Also he told, there is no clarity on Janasena policies yet and so we can’t comment yet on Janasena or Pawan Kalyan.

However, Krishnam Raju arguments seem to have lot of fallacies. First, he said nobody including TDP is able to clearly tell what is the injustice done by BJP led center to AP. We are not sure whether Krishnam Raju knows or not but even a school kid in AP can answer this question – Modi has promised special category status to AP before elections but he showed empty hands to AP people after elections. What more clarity Krishnam Raju needs from the people of AP or TDP on this.

On Janasena too his argument seem to be faulty. He told, there is no clarity on Janasena policies yet. It has become a fashion for the leaders of opponent parties to criticize Janasena (or any new party coming into politics ) saying “No clarity on policies of that new party yet”. Can Krishnam Raju talk for 5 minutes on what are the policies of BJP? Also, Krishnam Raju did not make any negative comments on YSRCP and he indirectly supported YSRCP not questioning BJP. Does he have clarity on what are the policies of YSRCP? Can he talk for 2 minutes on what are policies of YSRCP.

Krishnam Raju or other BJP leaders need to understand this- unless BJP grants special category status to AP, it can’t win trust of AP people, no matter how eloquently or how cogently they put their arguments..

After TDP, it is PDP that leaves BJP

0

It was just three months ago the Telugu Desam Party from Andhra Pradesh had accused Bharatiya Janata Party of betrayal and had left the alliance. Now, it is the turn of the Peoples’ Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir to break the alliance giving a severe beating for the BJP.

The NDA is losing the strong allies starting with Shiv Sena from Maharastra, followed by Shiromani Akali Dal from Punjab and Telugu Desam Party from Andhra Pradesh, who enjoyed more than a dozen MPs in the Lok Sabha and were strong allies of the BJP. Now, with the PDP too quitting the BJP-led NDA, there are just two parties, Lok Janasakthi Party of Ram Vilas Paswan with 6 MPs and Bihar’s Rashtriya Lok Samata Party with 3 MPs. The rest have one or none MPs to stand by the BJP.

The NDA was formed by the combine of Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani in 1998 bringing all anti-Congress parties, even smaller ones, together. The arrangement worked well against the Congress-led UPA and had captured power. In 2014, Narendra Modi took over the NDA and had swept the polls. As the BJP alone had own 274 MP seats in the election, it did not require the support of any of the allies in the NDA. Ironically, this situation had prompted Narendra Modi and Amit Shah to look down at the allies. While Vajpayee-Advani have built the NDA brining party after the party into its fold, Modi-Shah are now destroying it year after the year.

The Shiv Sena had left the NDA first, followed by Shiromani Akali Dal of Pubjab and the Telugu Desam Party of Andhra Pradesh and now Peoples’ Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir. The exit of these major players in the NDA showcases the power arrogance that both Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are showing towards the parties.

Going by the way the BJP is handling the political affairs in the country, distancing one after the other ally, and the Opposition is getting strengthened in the same speed, things are not going to be easy for Modi in the 2019 elections.

BJP strategist Ram Madhav condemns rumors on Buggana meeting him

There has been lot of debate and exchange of words on public accounts Chairman and leader of YSR CP Buggana Rajendranath Reddy meeting several leader of BJP in Delhi.

TDP leaders commented YSR CP hatching conspiracy with BJP on Chandrababu Naidu and TDP government and Buggana Delhi tour is first step of that conspiracy. TDP leaders questioned why Buggana Rajendranath has to meet BJP leaders including Amit Shah and Ram Madhav.

Buggana later clarified that he met BJP leaders like Akula Satyanarayana because of his friendship with them. For that matter, he has friends even in TDP party. he also condemned comments that he met Amit Shah and Ram Madhav.

Now BJP leader Ram Madhav responded on this and said YSR Congress MLA Buggana Rajendranadh Reddy has not met him. He added, in fact two prominent leaders from Telugu Desam have met him recently as they came to console him after his mother passed away.

But, as of now it is confirmed that Buggana met several BJP leaders in Delhi even though he did not meet Ram Madhav and Amit Shah.

BJP denies Kadapa steel plant, Jagan says it’s TDP betrayal

0

It is known news that Centre told the Supreme Court couple of days back that the steel plant in Bayaram and Kadapa are not feasible, as the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) found the project to be financially unviable. This led to agitation by Telugu people against BJP. Several leaders from TDP have condemned this and also questioned the silence of opposition party leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on this. Jagan responded on this issue through Twitter and called this is TDP betrayal.

Jagan tweeted – “Kadapa Steel Plant is AP’s rightful aspiration.Centre’s affidavit against the plant questions its sincerity towards AP’s welfare. TDP, having knowledge of this all the while, raising concern only now, is sheer betrayal. YSRCP demands categorical assurance from Centre on the plant “

It is surprising (rather not surprising?) see Jagan seeking “assurance from center” and calling it “sheer betrayal by TDP”. Everyone knows, it is Center that should grant the steel plant. If it is not done, despite promised in bifurcation act, it is betrayal of the centre. Jagan is using soft words like “questions sincerity” for BJP and strong words like “sheer betrayal for TDP” only shows his collusion with BJP that is completely ignoring AP state.

Chronology of the events is as below:

AP reorganisation act during bifurcation : There were several things that were assured to Andhra Pradesh in AP reorganisation act during bifurcation. One of them is Kadapa steel plant. 13th schedule of AP Reorganization Act mentions a steel plant to be granted to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana each.

After 2014 elections: But once came to power, BJP led Central Government started saying the project is not feasible. But after the states were bifurcated, Steel Authority of India Limited was asked to examine the case and SAIL had said that setting up of a plant is not financially viable.

Task force in 2016: Andhra government raised objection over SAIL feedback and centre formed a task force comprising SAIL, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and two other companies was formed in 2016 to conduct a study on the feasibility of the project.

2017 December: As there were still apprehensions over the project, a delegation of TDP MPs and MLAs met Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and the Union Minister, Chaudary Birender Singh in December last year and after that they were sure of getting this steel plant.

2018 June: Center tells Supreme court that both Bayyaram and Kadap steel plants are not feasible.

One more incident: BJP leaders attack Tamil director

0

We have seen in previous article how BJP’s hypocrisy exposed after release of Kaala movie. (https://www.telugu360.com/kaala-hypocrisy-of-tamil-nadu-bjp-leaders-exposed/). One more incident happened in Tamilnadu, in which BJP leaders attacked Tamil director Ameer because of his comments on BJP and Rajnikant .

Tamil television news channel Puthiya Thalaimurai had organised a debate at a private college premises in Coimbatore. In this TV debate, BJP State secretary Tamilisai Soundararajan was also one of the participants. The show’s director Ameer, during the debate referred to the communal riots happened in Coimbatore in 2016 after the murder of Hindu leader C Sasikumar. He asked a question – “why police did not open fire during those riots — and why the police opened fire at the anti-Sterlite protesters in Thoothukudi.” Supporters of the BJP objected to this and disrupted the debate and attempted to attack the show director Ameer. Angered BJP supporters created uproar resulting in altercation and the show had to be stopped. In the same show, Ameer also commented on BJP colluding with Rajnikant which also didn’t go well with BJP supporters.

The Police registered case against Tamil TV channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, one of its journalists and director Ameer on the grounds of attempting to promote enmity on religious grounds.

Later, when Ameer and others were returning, BJP cadre attacked the car. Eight persons blocked their cars and threw stones at them but they later found Ameer was not there in that car and left the place. Police registered a case against the eight persons under various IPC sections for blocking and attacking the car.

All other political parties condemned the cases on Ameer and media.

Survey: BJP Vote Bank in southern states and India

As the elections approaching in one year, there are lot of surveys, analysis and analytics going on to predict how much vote bank the parties have and how many seats they may win in up coming 209 elections.

Recently, an Institute, which claims itself as “polling agency studying electoral trends of India”, released some data on how much vote bank BJP has in Southern States and how many seats NDA may win in 2019 elections. This data assume the importance as this agency was able to predict Karnataka election result almost accurately. As per this report, BJP has only 5% vote bank in Andhra Pradesh.

The agency revealed their results Twitter as they tweeted, “BJP vote shares in Southern states.41% in Karnataka,17% in Telangana,15% in Kerala,5% of voters in Andhra Pradesh voting for BJP.Just 3% of voters in Tamil Nadu prefer BJP in Tamil Nadu.BJP likely to draw a blank in Tamil Nadu”

BJP to take on Naidu’s campaign in AP

0

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh is getting ready to take on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s campaign against the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party had come up with a plan of visiting every house in the State soon.

Party new chief Kanna Lakshminarayana, a staunch critic of Chandrababu Naidu is building up activities. The task is to give facts to the people on the Central government’s support given to the State in the last four years and counter the ‘malicious’ campaign of Chandrababu Naidu against BJP and Narendra Modi.

Kanna Lakshminarayana claims that the Central government is rolling out funds to the State under 155 welfare schemes and alleges that Chandrababu Naidu had renamed every scheme without giving credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the Central government. The housing scheme is renamed as NTR housing. The insurance scheme is renamed as Chandranna Bhima. The Swacch Bharat toilets are claimed as State government contribution. The cement roads are renamed as Chandranna Baata. The uninterrupted power supply and the LED lights are claimed as Chandrababu Naidu’s initiative. The pensions too are claimed as Chandrababu Naidu’s gesture to the people. The BJP feels that all these are to be countered and explained to the people.

By taking up such a massive campaign, the BJP wants to damage Chandrababu Naidu’s image in the villages. “We are focusing on getting better mileage to BJP and Prime Minister Modi. We will succeed in this. If we fail to get people to back us, at least our campaign will expose Chandrababu Naidu and damage his electoral prospects,” is what the BJP leaders believe.

The BJP is comparatively weak in the State. But invisibly it has the strong support of the RSS and VHP, whose presence is there in every village. There is at least one family in every village in the State that follows the RSS or VHP activities. These are the committed families and work with dedication that can beat even the Communist parties. These families, though rarely interfere with the political activities of the BJP, stand for the party during the election and at every crisis. They now feel the threat to the BJP and Narendra Modi in the next election and are set to give their best for the party. It is this force that the BJP is banking on now under the leadership of Kanna Lakshminarayana.

Leaders like Somu Veerraju and P N V Madhav, both MLCs, have such a background in the party. There are many leaders in BJP who have come from either RSS or VHP background, which is seen as advantage for BJP in countering Chandrababu Naidu.

By-election graffiti: Troubled times for BJP

0

It will be a mistake to ascribe the defeats of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Kairana, Noorpur and Bhandara-Gondiya by-elections in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra only to the tie-ups among its opponents.

While there is little doubt that in Kairana, an alliance of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress led to the BJP’s defeat, it is also undeniable that the combine wouldn’t have worked if the Muslims, Dalits, backward castes and the Jats hadn’t turned against the BJP.

It is for the BJP to ascertain why they did so when a section of the economists is sanguine about the party’s prospects because of low inflation and high — 7.7 per cent — growth.

But the economy may not boost the party’s fortunes in a context of social fissures. As those associated with the Muslim and Christian communities like former Vice President Hamid Ansari and the Archbishop of Delhi, Anil Couto, have said, both the communities are living with a sense of insecurity. The reason apparently is the fear of suddenly being attacked and even killed by saffron groups on one pretext or another.

The unhappiness of the Dalits, too, has been obvious in the wake of several instances of lynching and the continuing tension in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur area between the upper caste Rajputs and the Dalits, one of whose leaders, Chandrashekar Azad “Ravan”, has been in indefinite detention.

It is obvious that with sizable sections of the Muslims, who constitute 14.2 per cent of the population, Dalits (16.6 per cent) and Christians (2.3 per cent) alienated from the BJP, its chances of electoral success cannot be very high. The party did beat the odds against it in this respect in 2014, but that was because of the expectations of rapid, employment-oriented development raised by Narendra Modi.

Arguably, these hopes may still be fulfilled if the present growth rate continues. But jobs cannot provide any solace to people who feel that they are second class citizens in today’s India, as a retired police officer, Julio Ribeiro, has said.

The angst of the minorities has combined with the realisation among the BJP’s opponents that the only way to defeat it is via electoral tie-ups among themselves. This is what happened in Kairana, where a combined opposition seamlessly garnered the votes of the Muslims, the Dalits, the backward castes and the Jats.

It was the same in Noorpur, where the SP candidate received the support of the other opposition parties, and in Bhandara-Gondiya, where the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress successfully put up a untied fight against the BJP.

The formula, therefore, for success against the BJP is clear — unite or perish. As West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once said, the objective should be to offer the BJP a one-to-one fight by parties which are the most influential in a certain region.

If this is done, victory is assured as the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s three successive victories in Araria, Jehanabad and Jokihat in Bihar against the ruling Janata Dal-United have shown.

If the BJP managed to win in Palghar in Maharashtra against the Shiv Sena, it was because the latter’s over-confidence made it go it alone. Yet, the Sena’s leader, Uddhav Thackeray, recently spoke of the need for an opposition alliance against the BJP.

There is little doubt that the recent by-election victories, along with the formation of the Janata Dal (Secular)-Congress government in Karnataka, are being seen as precursors to a combined opposition at the national level.

If such a unity is achieved, it presages troubled times for the BJP because there is no way it can withstand such a concerted offensive. In a way, the united opposition will be a replica of the 24-member coalition government under Atal Behari Vajpayee which began to fall apart in the aftermath of the 2002 Gujarat riots.

In the present instance, the threat to an anti-BJP alliance is posed by the ambitions of several of its players — Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati, Sharad Pawar — to be the Prime Minister.

The BJP may be banking on such dissonance to stave off any challenge. But the party will nevertheless be aware that the ease with which it ascended to power in 2014 will be absent during the next general election for two reasons.

One is the sign that Modi’s appeal is not as overwhelming as it once was, if only because the anticipated revving up of the economy is taking time. And the other is the sameness of his criticism of the Congress — corruption, dynasty, et al. The party paid a heavy price for these sins in 2014 and lambasting it over and over again on the same issues runs the risk of what is known in legal terminology as double jeopardy where a person cannot be convicted of the same offence twice.

The political scene is poised, therefore, between the possibility of Modi not being as effective a campaigner as before and the opposition trying to counter him while battling its own fissiparous tendencies.

Who is lying, Babu or BJP?

0

There is so much talked about these days in Andhra Pradesh between the ruling Telugu Desam Party on one side and its former ally, Bharatiya Janata Party on the other. The two parties, which were friends for four years, are now hurling abuses and accusations against each other. They are also holding each other responsible for betrayal of the people.

The bone of contention between the two parties is the granting of special category status to the State, a promise that was made by the then Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the floor of Rajya Sabha at the time of passing of the AP Reorganisation Act. The BJP, which was in Opposition at that time, had raised objections to the bifurcation though completely not against it. Its leader M Venkaiah Naidu took the lead in raising objections to the Bill and it was so important for the Congress to pass the Bill. Then at that critical point of time, came the special category status proposal and Dr Man Mohan Singh had made it for five years. But, the BJP and its Venkaiah Naidu insisted on giving the special category status for 10 years. That was how the special category status came to existence in connection with Andhra Pradesh.

Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu had asked the special category status for 15 years while the BJP had promised it for 10 years during the elections. Four years in power, the two parties have changed their minds, while people kept it to their hearts. BJP had come up with the special package in place of special category status and TDP had welcomed it. Chandrababu Naidu had gone all the way to Delhi and facilitated the BJP leaders for granting special package.

A year later, things took a different turn with the TDP once again asking for the special category status, while the BJP standing firm on the package. What went wrong between the two parties on the key issue is not known to the people. What is said by both the parties in the public is too contradictory and people are confused with who is lying.

The other day, when Union Minister of State looking after the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitender Singh, visited Vijayawada and closeted with the media persons, he had his own ‘truth’ to the story. He had completely denied the charge that the Central government took back Rs 350 crore given to the State towards the Backward Districts Development, while TDP goes on repeating the charge. “There is no PMO intervention in devolution of funds to the States. Though it is decided in consultation with the PM, the devolution is executed by the Finance Ministry and it is not true that PMO had directed finance ministry to take back the funds given to the State. Let the TDP come out with facts and prove this charge,” he said dismissing the TDP’s claim over the funds.

Likewise, there are so many issues that are talked openly by the TDP leaders against the BJP, while the BJP dismisses them as blatant lies. The two parties which went to the polls together in 2014 elections convincing the people on development of the State are now confusing the people ahead of the 2019 polls.

Mahanadu is dedicated to BJP bashing

0

The three-day annual Mahanadu of the Telugu Desam Party was completely dedicated to hitting hard at the Bharatiya Janata Party and its leadership. The meet had also hurled abuses at YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, but that was limited and they were seen as part of the bigger conspiracy against the TDP by the BJP.

The Mahanadu had declared the BJP as enemy No. 1 and claimed that it would fight the next elections only against the BJP that is aligning with the YSR Congress and the Jana Sena. The event also concluded with a dream of Chandrababu Naidu emerging as the national leader and playing key role in picking up the next Prime Minister, an alternative to Narendra Modi.

The Mahaandu set the tone for elections and felt that the election is crucial for the party to continue the developmental works that they have initiated in the last four years. The party termed the 2019 elections as historical responsibility of every Telugu voter as the objective is to defeat Narendra Modi and his designs one on side and develop Andhra Pradesh on the other.

The interesting factor in this Mahanadu was that the TDP had tried its best to convince the people its differences with Narendra Modi or the BJP were for AP and not for TDP. Chandrababu Naidu also tried to convince the people who any attempt to disturb or defeat TDP is an attempt to disturb the State. He had conveniently mixed electoral politics with the developmental initiatives.

After breaking the alliance with the BJP, Chandrababu Naidu had been speaking against the Central domination on the States, a core issue of the TDP when NTR was at the helm. Chandrababu Naidu had threated to block the movement of national vehicles, take over the national highways and now threatened to stop paying Central taxes. These challenges go well with the people and that is what he is doing now.

Jaganmohan Reddy was accepted as a hero when he challenged the mighty power of Sonia Gandhi. But that heroism is now gone as he fails to do so with Narendra Modi. Interestingly, Chandrababu Naidu is seen as a hero for challenging Narendra Modi, while Jaganmohan Reddy is seen as peacemaker. This image is likely to help Chandrababu Naidu in the next round of elections, if he continues to project himself as a fighting against Narendra Modi and BJP. All that he has to do is to keep up the tempo and continue to hit hard at Modi or even intensify the attack on Modi as the election time approaches fast.

Amit Shah kicks off BJP’s massive outreach programme

0

BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a massive nationwide “Sampark Se Samarthan” (contact for support) personal outreach programme to highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government in the last four years.

Shah kicked off the programme by calling on former Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag at his residence here on Mandir Marg. He handed Suhag a few booklets on the achievements of the Modi government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief also met former Secretary General of the Lok Sabha and constitutional expert Subhash Kashyap at his residence.

After meeting them, Shah told the media: “I went to Suhagji and Kashyapji’s residences and apprised them of the work of Modi government in the last four years. I handed them the booklet on achievements of the government.”

Shah is scheduled to personally meet at least 50 eminent personalities to apprise them of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s achievements.

Explaining the party’s massive outreach programme, the BJP chief said: “The nationwide programme has been launched on the completion of four years of the Modi government at the Centre.”

He said that 4,000 elected members of the BJP would connect with over one lakh people from every field across the country.

Besides the elected members, 50 lakh BJP workers would launch a door-to-door campaign and meet citizens throughout the country.

Shah said: “The aim of this programme is to inform the people about how the BJP has worked for every section of the society and touched their lives, which the country had been expecting for a long time.”

He stressed that the BJP had touched the lives of the poor and also served a number of villages in the last four years by taking government schemes to the rural areas.

The BJP leader, also a Rajya Sabha member, said: “In the fifth year of this government, the BJP will increase the income of farmers and also provide health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh each to 50 crore households across the country.”

Earlier, Shah was scheduled to launch the contact programme from Suhag’s Gurugram-located house in Haryana, but that was cancelled at the last minute, a party official said.

It is part of the party’s effort to reach out to the maximum number of people ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Modi, also as part of the campaign, addressed beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana and Mudra Yojana on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, through the NaMo app.

TDP goes out for BJP as enemy No. 1, leaves Jagan, Pawan aside

5

Leaving YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan aside, the ruling Telugu Desam Party had gone all out to target Bharatiya Janata Party and name it enemy No. 1 for the 2019 elections. While TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu had launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah for betraying the State, Minister Nara Lokesh went one step forward and declared that BJP is the enemy No. 1 for TDP in the next elections. He discounted the YSR Congress and Jana Sena as rivals in the State and admitted that the TDP would fight the next elections against BJP.

Though there is nothing for BJP in the State to lose, the TDP leadership is targeting the party as it believes that targeting Modi would fetch more votes in the State. The TDP seems to believe that criticising Modi is what the Telugu people like now and would rally for. It is a fact that special category status demand is seen as life line by the people. The TDP and the BJP have made people to believe that the development is possible only through special category status. However the same parties have gone back on the life line issue in the last four years while the Congress and the YSR Congress continued to highlight it.

The special category status had finally become the core issue with majority people asking for it and the TDP and BJP going back on it. It had become a sentimental issue and the sentiments are so strong that the TDP too had to come back batting for the special category status. The sentiment is so strong that it had turned the allies – BJP and TDP – into foes. The TDP believes that the special category status demand and attack on BJP would fetch more votes for the party and that is the reason why the TDP is targeting the BJP more than the local rivals.

Interestingly, the BJP too is taking TDP on the same lines and targeting the party. BJP chief Amit Shah found some time to attack the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu. His party leadership in the State too is leaving no stone unturned to attack the TDP.

With the TDP and BJP locking horns, the YSR Congress and Jana Sena have their ways into the people. The leaders of the two parties are currently on the roads now, both targeting the TDP and Chandrababu Naidu. The TDP chief is not able to counter the attack from these two leaders as he and his party leaders are focusing attack on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Having set to play key role in the national politics only to hit at Narendra Modi, the TDP chief is likely to go harder against the BJP, sparing the YSR Congress and Jana Sena. It is to be seen how this strategy would help him retain the power in the 2019 elections.

BJP’s step motherly treatment to AP exposed, yet again

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday inaugurated two newly-built expressways : First one is Phase 1 of Delhi-Meerut Expressway and second one is Eastern Peripheral Expressway. After inauguration of the projects, PM Modi, rode in an open car, waving at crowds gathered on either sides of the highway. Road Transport and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari too rode in a separate open car alongside Modi. While, improving infrastructure of the country brings cheer to every Indian including Telugu people, People of Andhra Pradesh have once again realized how BJP led central government is giving step motherly treatment to AP.

Let’s see what these 2 projects are :

Delhi-Meerut Expressway: 14-lane Delhi-Meerut Expressway is stretching from Nizammudin Bridge to Delhi-UP border. The first phase has been completed in a record time of 18 months. Total 4 Phases and spans for 82 KMs & total cost 7,500 Cr . Now only Phase 1 Completed, which spans 8.7 KMs and costed 840 Crores. i.e. each Km costs around 100 Crores. Though total length of the project is 82 km, first 27.74 kms will be 14-laned, while the rest will be 6-lane expressway. It involves construction of 11 flyovers/interchanges, 5 major and 24 minor bridges, 3 ROBs (rail over bridges), 36 vehicular and 14 pedestrian underpasses.

Eastern Peripheral Expressway or EPE: The 135-km-long Eastern Peripheral Expressway or EPE was dedicated by Prime minister Modi in Baghpat in UP. It has been built in a record time of 17 months. This Eastern Peripheral Expressway is India’s first highway to be lit by solar power and has provisions of rain water harvesting on every 500 metres on both sides. Built at a cost of Rs. 11,000 crore.

Step motherly treatment to AP:
While center is spending thousands of crores on these infrastructure parts in North India and the states where BJP has stakes, What it is granting to states like AP is meagre. Official website of government of India says, (http://pib.nic.in/newsite/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=149631) an amount of Rs.2,500 crore has been paid as support for creation of new capital of State of Andhra Pradesh and a balance of Rs.1,000 crore would be paid in due course. As per the reports, center has paid only 4000 crores out of the promised 14,000 crores promised for covering revenue deficit. BJP leaders like Hari Babu earlier claimed that the Centre has approved project proposals worth over Rs 1 lakh crore for the State for the projects related to the national highway or housing but the funds will be released as and when there is a progress in the works and more funds will be released as and when required. Needless to say, these are empty statements.

Moreover, a new railway line of 106.56 km between Vijayawada- Amravati-Guntur has been announced by Union Railways Minister earlier and the survey and DPR is estimated to cost Rs.3272 crores. Guess how much is granted out of this? Only a token provision of Rs.10 crores in 2017-18 and Rs.10 crores in 2018-19 is made till date. As everyone knows, Vijayawada metro rail, Vishakhapatnam metro rail proposals also have been returned by Government of India and Railway Zone for Andhra Pradesh is still pending with the Government of India.

While it is very disappointing for Telugu people to see BJP not granting any money to AP, they are even more appalled to see same Modi government granting thousands of crores to projects in North India and completing them in record time. Probably what DMK leader Stalin lambasted Modi yesterday is correct – Modi is not considering us as his people.

-ZURAN

P.S. Small question for the politicians and people questioning the estimates of Amaravati – If 135 km express high-way costed 11,000 crores, how much it may cost to build a capital city. #justasking.

Out of these 12 too, 3 states will be facing elections soon and BJP is having a real tough time there because of anti incumbency. In Rajasthan, since 1993, government is changing every 5 years between BJP and Congress and currently BJP is ruling. In Madhya Pradesh, where BJP is ruling for last 15 years, BJP is facing high anti wave.

These are the 7 states that gave 1025 seats out of 1653 seats to BJP.

In remaining 22 states, Out of 2467 seats (2467 + 1653 = 4120), BJP got only 493 seats

Out of these, BJP has zero seats in states – Mizoram, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.

Conclusion:

  • BJP is not really strong in 20 out of 29 states as projected BJP and pro-BJP media
  • BJP is really really strong in 7 states – from where it got 1025 out 1518 seats they have in the country
  • BJP is really weak in at least 12 states where it has 10 or less seats. In fact it is less than 10% seats in these assemblies
  • BJP has zero seats in 3 states
  • But BJP is projected as strong party only because it is in better position than its rival at national level – Congress party. But if wee see the strength of regional parties – Congress + Leftist + socialist parties alone have 1196 seats. Additionally, regional parties that are not part of NDA have around 970 seats. So, if congress can play cards properly with regional parties, that alliance definitely will have an edge over Congress. But will congress be able to do that, is a question.

Kumaraswamy government wins trust vote after BJP walkout in Assembly

0

The Karnataka government led by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday won the confidence motion with a voice vote in the new Assembly after opposition BJP members walked out ahead of the floor test.

“The confidence motion has been put to vote and won by a voice vote in favour of Kumaraswamy,” declared newly elected Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar.

The Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S)-Congress coalition government won the floor test as 116 members voiced their favour for the confidence motion.

After addressing the members and replying to an emotional speech by opposition Bharatiya Janata Party leader B.S. Yeddyurappa, Kumaraswamy moved the motion, saying “I seek the support of this house to the confidence motion”.

Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar then put the motion to vote, which was backed by 116 members, including 36 of the JD-S, 77 of the Congress and one each of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janata Party and an Independent through voice.

Speaker Kumar did not vote.

As the 104 members of the BJP walked out before the floor test, Kumar declared that Kumaraswamy had won the motion by 116 voice votes with none against.

Though the Assembly strength is 225, including one nominated member, elections were held on May 12 in 222 constituencies only, which threw up a hung house, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party with 104 seats.
