Jagan’s folly, lust for money became curse for Polavaram project, says Devineni Uma

0

Former minister and senior TDP leader, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, on Tuesday felt that the folly and lust for money of Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, have become a bane for the Polavaram project.

“How Jagan Mohan Reddy, who could not complete even a single project in the past 48 months and could not apply irrigation atero even a single acre, can complete the Polavaram project in the remaining 278 days,” Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, popularly known as Uma, asked.

Talking to media persons at the party headquarters here Devinei Uma felt that the Chief Minister has deliberately brought down the height of the Polavaram project from 150 meters to 135 metres as he could not manage to get funds from the Centre.

The former minister is of the opinion that Jagan will remain in history as the most inefficient Chief Minister of the State who could not complete the project despite having 31 MPs. Since the elections are fast approaching, he has taken up the exercise of the works to fill the pits with sand, Uma stated.

Leaving the project displaced to their fate, Mr Jagan has taken up the project of erecting the statues with a cost of Rs 300 cr in the name of beautification, the TDP leader said. This great leader, who termed the Pattiseema project a mere waste and did not bother when the motors are getting rusted for the past four years, is now taking up another lift irrigation project at a cost of Rs 786 cr, Uma pointed out.

Devineni Uma asked as to why the media is not allowed to visit the Polavaram project. Is it not a fact that the media persons pointed this out during the visit of the Chief Minister to Polavaram, he said and expressed surprise how the project displaced or even the people living around Polavaram were not present during Jagan’s visit to the project.

Devineni Umamaheswara Rao demanded the State Government to immediately publish a white paper with facts on the expenditure on the irrigation sector in the past four years and the projects works completed.

Tragedy strikes Devineni Uma as father Srimannarayana passes away

1

Tragedy struck senior TDP leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao when his father Devineni Srimannayaraya passed away due to cardiac stroke on Thursday evening. Srimannarayana was rushed to Ramesh Hospital in Vijayawada, but the doctors could not revive him. He was 88. A pall of gloom descended on the Devineni household as the tragic news petered in.

Srimannarayana, locally popular as Chinni, was from Neppalli in Kankipadu mandal. Later, he shifted to Kanchikacharla. Though he was not directly involved in politics, he did campaign on several occasions for both his sons Deveineni Venkata Ramana and Devineni Uma. His elder son Venkataramana died in a train mishap. He is survived by three sons and a daughter.

Several TDP leaders rushed to Ramesh Hospital to offer condolences. Devineni Nehru’s wife Lakshmi, TDP corporator Devineni Aparna, Devineni Chandu and Vinay offered floral tributes at the hospital. Several leaders from all parties consoled Devineni Uma. They said Srimannarayana passing away was a great loss.

His last rites would be held on Friday at Kanchikacherla. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and several key TDP leaders are expected to call on Devineni Uma at Kanchikacharla.

Why has Nara Rohit called on Devineni Uma?

1

Does Chandrababu Naidu have an ace up his sleeve? Is he trying to bring to the front his nephew Nara Rohit into active politics? Nara Rohit may not be a star but has his own filmi charisma. More importantly, he has proved himself to be an effective communicator. So, highly placed sources say that Chandrababu is planning to use him for the TDP campaign.

It may be recalled that Rohit had campaigned for the TDP vigorously in the 2019 elections. He was mainly focused on Chittoor district. His punch dialogues and Chittoor dialect have endeared himself to the voters. His attacks on the YSRCP too were well-received. Though the TDP did badly by losing all but one seats in Chittoor district, the feedback from the ground revealed that Nara Rohit’s speeches were well-received.

Nara Rohit is the son of Chandrababu’s elder brother Rammurthy Naidu. He has done quite few films, where he has proved his abilities. At the same time, he has proved himself as a good communicator. So, Chandrababu is said to be thinking of using him for the party work. He feels that he would be an addition to the party’s pantheon of public speakers.

Quite interestingly, Rohit has recently called on Devinani Uma Maheswara Rao at the latter’s residence in Gollapudi. Devineni Uma was recently out on bail in connection with his comments on the mining in forest areas of Krishna district. He was accompanied by producers Atluri Narayana Rao and Tadikonda Saikrishna. Later, he told reporters that he had come to meet Uma only because he was a people’s leader. There was a great response to Nara Rohit’s visit to Gollapudi. Sources say TDP boss Chandrababu is planning to use Rohit more often in the party work. This has given rise to the grapevine that Rohit would play a more active role in the party.

Will Devineni Uma’s arrest hit Vasantha Krishna Prasad’s popularity?

1

While it was long expected that Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao would be the next TDP leader to be arrested after Kollu Ravindra and Dhulipalla Narendra, it appears his arrest is fast proving counter-productive for the YSRCP. There is a groundswell of sympathy for Devineni as he was booked for murder while he was sitting in his car.

Devineni Uma was arrested on charges of attempt to murder after a case was booked against him in G Konduru police station. But as the news spread of his arrest, sympathy for him is reportedly growing in Mylavaram assembly constituency. His political rival and YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishnaprasad is now in fix. In fact, Vasantha Krishna Prasad had said a year ago that he would put Devineni Uma behind the bars. These words are now coming back to haunt him.

Vasantha Krishna Prasad is now being blamed for the arrest. Interestingly, both Devineni and Vasantha hail from the same social community and there a lot of sympathy for Devineni in general and in the community in particular. Anger is also said to be building against Vasantha Krishna Prasad as he is staying away from the constituency unlike Devineni Uma, who was always accessible. He has not taken up developmental works as planned, according to the locals. Due to this, there is already resentment against Vasantha Krishna Prasad. He reportedly stays away from the assembly constituency and this too has contributed to his unpopularity..

Vasantha comes from the illustrious political family of Vasantha Nageswara Rao., who was the home minister during the TDP rule and represented Nandigama several times. His son Krishna Prasad had joined the YSRCP and has won from Mylavaram defeating Devineni Uma. Devineni too is from a well-known family. His elder brother Ramana was a minister He had passed away in a train accident.

CID slaps notices on Devineni Uma yet again!

5

The AP CID sleuths have slapped a notice on senior TDP leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao yet again on Friday (today) directing him to appear before them on May 1.

The CID has filed cases against Uma accusing him of morphing a video of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy and displaying the morphed video in his press conference early this month.

Interestingly, Uma appeared before CID in this case only on yesterday (Thursday).

The CID sleuths grilled him for nine hours and left him later.

However, CID officials claimed that they served notices again because Uma did not cooperate during questioning on Thursday and did not give satisfactory replies.

They said Uma gave contradictory replies when questioned about the whereabouts of tab and mobile phone used by him in the press conference.

Devineni Uma appears before CID, says Jagan lacks humanity!

0

TDP senior leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao appeared before AP CID on Thursday (today) in a case pertaining to morphing of AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s video.

CID official registered a case against Uma on April 10 following a complaint lodged by YSRCP legal cell convenor Narayan Reddy.

Uma played a video clip of CM Jagan on April 7 while addressing a press conference. However, the video clip was later found to be morphed.

Though CID officials served several notices to Uma to appear before it for probe in this case, Uma has been avoiding since then.

In the meantime, Uma filed a petition in the AP High court to quash the CID case filed against him. But the High Court refused to quash the case and directed Uma to appear before CID.

Following High Court orders, Uma appeared before CID on Thursday.

Uma said he will continue to question the wrongdoings of YSRCP government and CM Jagan even if he is killed.

He said Jagan government lacks humanity and focussing on targetting political rivals instead of focusing on containment of corona though large number of people in AP are getting infected and large number of deaths are being reported every day.

High Court tells Devineni to appear before CID

The stand-off between the CID and former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao took a new twist. The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has told the CID not to arrest or take any action against Devineni till May 7. Also, the police should give protection to Mr. Uma under section 41. The court has also instructed the CID to change the investigating officer. These instructions were given after hearing was completed on the quash petition filed by the former Minister.

For the last few days, reports circulated in the media that Devineni has gone into hiding to avoid arrest by the CID. The TDP leader is facing charges of using morphed videos to defame CM Jaganmohan Reddy. The latest court order has given relief to Mr. Uma.

However, the High Court has told the former Minister to attend the inquiry at the CID Mangalagiri office on April 29 at 11 am. As such, the new investigating officers can only ask questions but not take the TDP leader into custody till the court’s further orders. The High Court postponed the next hearing for May 7.

With the CID case and the court litigation, Devineni Uma was effectively prevented from criticising the Government on Polavaram issue. The Polavaram head works estimates were raised to Rs. 1,600 Cr amid reports of gross misuse of power.

Andhra CID looking for absconding ex-minister for morphing CM’s video

0

Former Andhra Pradesh irrigation minister and senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao (Uma) is currently absconding. He is wanted by the CID for allegedly morphing an old video of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“He (Uma) is absconding. He made a morphed video and displayed it in a Tirupati press conference,” a CID official probing the case told IANS on Wednesday.

According to the CID police, Uma allegedly illegally modified a 2019 press conference video of Reddy in which he reportedly spoke about the attractiveness of Tirupati as a location for professionals and used it to attack the CM in the run up to the high octane Scheduled Castes (SC) reserved Lok Sabha by-poll recently.

On April 7, Uma showcased this video and manoeuvred to gain a political advantage for the TDP in the run up to the by-poll.

The official said that the morphed video amounted to showing Reddy as saying: Nobody will come and stay in Tirupati when asked to do so. None of you will come and stay in a particular place if I come and ask you to stay. Any cardiologist or a highly educated person will prefer to stay in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Delhi but nobody will prefer to stay in Odisha, Bihar or Tirupati.

“He displayed this video in the press conference, including taking care that the mouth (CM’s) is not visible using some form of stickering,” the official pointed out.

The official said that the video belonged to 2019 when Reddy spoke at Andhra Bhavan.

Following this incident, ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party’s (YSRCP) Kurnool district legal cell president and advocate N. Narayana Reddy lodged a complaint with the CID on April 10.

On receiving the complaint, CID police in Mangalagiri booked a case against the former minister under IPC Sections 464, 465, 468, 469, 470, 471, 505 and 120 (b).

“As you have disrespected the chief minister by morphing his video and showcasing it to the press, we have included you as an accused in the case,” said the CID notice served at Uma’s Gollapudi residence in Vijayawada.

Police have already summoned Uma twice for a probe, on Thursday and Monday, but he evaded both the summons, including switching off his cell phone.

He was summoned to come with the tab he used in the press conference for investigation but is currently on the run.

Police notice to Devineni Uma in Gudivada SI suicide

1

The suicide of Gudivada SI Vijay Kumar has created a sensation in political circles. The TDP has given a twist to it, saying that the SI ended his life following harassment by the local Minister regarding gambling activities. But the reports have come out that the SI got involved with a local beautician which eventually led to his extreme act.

Now, the Gudivada DSP issued a notice to former Minister Devineni Uma to give details of his comments on the SI’s death. The baseless allegation was being used to mislead the people. The DSP has urged the political parties not to use the issues relating to the police for their political advantage.

The incident happened just a few weeks after the police raid on the gambling activities being carried out in Gudivada surroundings. From the beginning, the TDP has been saying that these gambling including the harmful ‘Kothamukka’ was being run along the bunds of fish tanks there with active support of Minister Kodali Nani.

Devineni Uma has been in the news frequently these days following his protests and arrest over heated exchanges with Kodali Nani. The latest police notice to him is seen as an indication of future crackdown that the Government will make on his activities.

Amid debate challenges with Nani, TDP’s Uma arrested, let off

1

Dramatic scenes played out in Vijayawada on Tuesday leading to the arrest and release of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former minister Devineni Uma after he tried to reach an NTR statue following challenges to debate with Civil Supplies Minister Kodali Sri Venkateshwara Rao.

Both the leaders challenged each other to debate, especially Rao on alleged corruption in the ruling party over distribution of land to poor people.

Rao said that Uma was unnecessarily making allegations that the Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy committed corruption at a time when more than 3,000 people in Mylavaram’s Gollapudi were receiving land after 30 years.

“He (Uma) is simply making baseless allegations convening press conferences. So I told him to come for a debate on the manifesto as to what we fulfilled. I am ready to debate,” said Rao.

He warned Uma that he cannot just keep on making allegations on Reddy.

However, Rao alleged that Uma challenged him to come and touch at TDP founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s statue where he will do a protest.

The minister observed that police will not allow for such a thing to happen and highlighted that Uma was not answering phone calls.

“Answer my phone call. Let’s decide where we shall have our debate? At your home or my home?” said Rao.

However, nothing of that sort happened and Uma tried going to NTR statue where he was arrested.

Vijayawada police commissioner B.V. Srineevasuslu confirmed that Uma was arrested and released on Tuesday.

Later, Rao alleged that Uma intentionally deflected the debate and resorted to going to the statue so that police would arrest him, leading to alleged publicity gain.

The Gudivada YSRCP MLA claimed that Uma acts as per the directions of TDP supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Meanwhile, estranged TDP MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi also came in support of Rao and said that a debate would be good.

Vamsi went to NTR statue in Vijayawada and honoured it with ksheeabishekam (pouring milk on statue with reverence) and said that the late leader and movie legend was a true leader of the masses and the poor.

Devineni Uma ‘terrorised’ villagers, police case booked

1

The filing of police cases against the TDP leaders and former Ministers is on the rise. Despite strong opposition from the rival parties, the Jagan Reddy regime is not hesitating to take its political vengeance to any length. Now, a fresh FIR was registered against former Minister Devineni Umamamaheswara Rao on the charges of terrorising the villagers.

Uma along with the TDP activists went to hold protests at the TIDCO houses in Jakkampudi in Krishna district yesterday. But they were not allowed to agitate there. The local YCP sympathisers and residents of Shabad village picked up heated arguments with the TDP leaders.

The villagers demanded the TDP team to go back without holding their protests there. However, Mr. Uma and his party leaders expressed their protests demanding handing over of the houses to the poor beneficiaries. After they left the spot, the villagers and the YCP sympathisers filed a police complaint saying that the TDP leaders terrorised them in their own village. A case under Sections 505 and 506 for causing public discomfort and criminal intimidation was registered against Uma and other leaders.

YSRCP cannot take credit for Kanaka Durga flyover: Devineni

1

TDP leader Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on Friday said that the ruling YSRCP doesn’t have the right to take credit for the completion of Durga flyover as its construction began in 2015.

After Chandrababu Naidu became the CM of the bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh in June 2014, the project was officially announced. When the Central government approved the project in April 2015, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani had said that once the tendering process was completed, the flyover would be finished in 18 months. The flyover was sanctioned in 2014 after the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government came to power.

The foundation stone itself was laid in December 2015 by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Though the TDP government had claimed after coming to power that the flyover would be completed in August 2016 – the first official deadline for the project – the foundation stone itself was laid in December 2015 by Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Talking to media, Devineni said, “The previous TDP government under the chief ministership of Chandrababu Naidu had envisioned the Kanaka Durga and Benz Cirlce flyovers. Kanaka Durga flyover is the crown jewel of Vijayawada city. Every single person in both the Telugu states are aware of Chandrababu Naidu’s vision. Because of his vision today that traffic congestion Vijayawada city will be a thing of past.”

The flyover was virtually inaugurated by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Andhra CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has attended the inaugural function of Kanaka Durga and Benz Circle flyovers in Vijayawada from Tadepalli camp office while union minister Nitin Gadkari participated from Delhi.

The 2.6-km long flyover was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 502 crore. The road starts at Kummaripalem and ends at the Rajiv Gandhi Municipal Park, passing over Temple Road and Canal Road besides the Prakasam barrage. Gadkari also laid the foundation stone of 16 national highway projects in the state, amounting to a length of 1,411 km, at a cost of Rs 15,592 crore.

How could you arrest gas leak victims, asks Devineni Uma

0

Senior TDP leader Devineni Uma fumed at the YSRCP dispensation for arresting the gas leak victims and villagers of R R Venkatapuram. In his latest tweet, Devineni Uma slammed the Jagan government for its insensitivity in arresting the gas leak victims who were protesting for a just cause. “The toxic gas leak in Vizag had killed 12 people and hundreds of people were hospitalized. Children and women were found unconscious on the pavements. The state government has not arrested even a single official of LG Polymers, but the government arrested against villagers. Cases were booked against women. How could you arrest women? Their only fault was seeking justice. The government should immediately release all the people who were arrested and cases should be lifted against them.”

On Monday, the police booked cases against five villagers and seven CPI activists under the Sections 147, 447, 353, 188, 271 and IPC 51 (A). Interestingly, the police also booked a case against a ‘woman’ (name was not mentioned) who climbed the LG Polymers plant gate. The only woman who jumped over the gate is Lakshmi whose nine-year-old daughter Grishma died inhaling the deadly toxic fumes emitted from LG Polymers factory last Thursday. Grishma’s mother Lakshmi made her way to DGP Gautam Sawang and fell at his feet seeking justice. She wailed and sought relocation of the LG Polymers factory from R R Venkatapuram saying it can endanger the lives of people in future too if it allowed to continue its operation.

MedTech is Naidu’s vision, says Devineni Uma

1

If the state government today is able to manufacture Covid-19 testing kits and ventilators in Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), it is thanks to the vision of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu who envisioned setting up AMTZ when he was the state chief minister, former TDP minister Devineni Uma said on Wednesday

He said AP is the only State in the country that has successfully started manufacturing corona virus testing kits and ventilators, essential to contain the spread of the pandemic and the credit should go to Naidu for being the brainchild behind the project, Devineni Uma said. When Naidu dreamt of setting up Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), the YSRCP leaders criticized the former chief minister calling his vision myopic, he added. The senior TDP leader said the state government under the chief ministership of Chandrababu Naidu had started the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited in order to cut dependency on imported devices and reduce the cost of manufacturing. The project was aimed to put India on the global map of high end medical equipment production and make health care products affordable and accessible, Devineni Uma said.

On Wednesday, AP industry and commerce minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy took a dig at Naidu saying the AMTZ was ignored by TDP president and N Chandrababu Naidu during his regime as the chief minister. “It was Y S Jagan who revived the project,” he claimed.

Reacting sharply to Goutham Reddy’s comments, Devineni said ‘“It is such a shame that Goutham Reddy today crediting Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for rolling out Covid-19 testing kits and ventilators from AMTZ. The same people who are praising Jagan now once criticized Naidu for dreaming of the project,” Uma said.

The AMTC has started to manufacturing 2,000 testing kits for COVID-19 per day, making the State not only self-sufficient but also would be supplying testing kits to the entire country. The capacity will be increased to 25,000 per day.

He also accused Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy of showing keenness to see his full page photos in media rather than resolving the field level problems of the lockdown-afflicted people and frontline warriors treating the virus infected patients. Crores worth advertisements are being given to Sakshi very frequently while the poor people are not getting enough assistance, virus prevention not being given necessary funds and farmers suffering heavy losses.
Umamaheswara Rao demanded that the government release necessary funds and provide all required personal protection equipment to the doctors and health workers treating the patients.

Krishna flood is man-made, criminal: Devineni

0

Former Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao is very critical of the YCP government response to the heavy inflows in Krishna river over the past one week. Many days ago, Jagan Regime had information about far higher releases at Almatti and other projects in Karnataka. But it has not taken prior steps to regulate flood.

Devineni says that the Prakasam barrage gates were not lifted till the last minute. It was deliberately done by Jagan Circar which wants to ensure that Amaravati Capital City area and Chandrababu’s residence are submerged. The government wanted to cite this to show that Amaravati is not a viable place for Capital City.

Devineni says that the YCP government released flood at Prakasam barrage only after several localities and human habitations faced total submergence threat. Devineni says that the flood is man-made and it’s a criminal offence on the part of the YCP regime.
