Dulquer Salmaan, who has played the lead in director Hanu Raghavapudi’s critically acclaimed romantic entertainer, ‘Sita Ramam’, has thanked Hindi audiences for the love they have extended to his film.

Taking to social media, Dulquer wrote: “A big, big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the Hindi audiences for the love extended towards ‘Sita Ramam’s’ Hindi theatrical release.”

The film, which has received a good opening in the Hindi belt as well, has already been declared a big hit in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.

Director Hanu Raghavapudi’s romantic entertainer ‘Sita Ramam’, featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur in the lead, has been cleared for release in the United Arab Emirates.

The film, which released in other parts of the world on August 5, was re-censored in the UAE and will now hit screens there on August 11.

Meanwhile, the film, which has opened to good reviews, has so far grossed a sum of Rs 33 crore worldwide, its makers announced on Wednesday.

‘Sita Ramam’, a beautiful love story set against the backdrop of a war in 1965, has Dulquer Salmaan playing the character of Lieutenant Ram, an orphan, serving the nation in snow-clad mesmerising terrains and gleaming lakes of Kashmir.

Pairing with Dulquer is Mrunal Thakur as Sita Mahalakshmi, the lead actress of the film, along with Rashmika Mandanna in an impressive role.

The film also features actress Rashmika Mandanna as Afreen, a Pakistan national who loathes India.

Actor Dulquer Salmaan, whose latest movie ‘Sita Ramam’ hit the screens, shared that he cried on the day of the film’s release because he was “so overwhelmed with the film and how people were accepting it”.

Taking to social media to express his gratitude to the Telugu audience, he wrote: “To the wonderful Telugu audience, my first ever film that was dubbed in Telugu and released was ‘OK Bangaram’. Thanks to Mani sir, you all took a chance on me and gave me immense love in my first outing.

“Then, Nagi and Vyjayanthi gave me the opportunity to play Gemini in ‘Mahanati’ and even though it had grey shades, the love and respect I got for the role and film was unlike anything I expected. ‘Ammadi’ became a permanent part of my life wherever I went.”

‘Kannulu Kannulu Dochayente’ and ‘Kurup’ were dubbed films, yet the love you gave to those films is something I’ll never forget. When Swapna and Hanu approached me with ‘Sita Ramam’, I knew I was in safe hands. Tasteful director Hanu Raghavapudi delivered two massive duds Lie and Padi Padi Leche Manasu. Both these films are cost failures and the producers lost big amounts through these projects. But Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt believed in his vision and magic. They spent lavishly on Sita Ramam which is winning the hearts of the Telugu audience. The film received a stiff competition in the name of Bimbisara. The audience preferred to watch Bimbisara on Friday and Sita Ramam opened on a normal to below-average note.

This is because the film had no stars. Dulquer Salman is a proven actor but he has no great fanbase in Telugu states. Mrunal Thakur is hardly known to the Tollywood audience. It is the production values of Sita Ramam that took the film to the next level apart from the performances and the poetic narration. The production house spent enough time on the script and believed in the vision of Hanu.

They got the best technicians and actors for even the smallest roles. A major portion of the film is shot in the remote locales of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. At times, the budget went overboard and the pandemic delayed the project by months. But the team of Sita Ramam waited for their day.

The family crowds and the youth are now rushing to the theatres to watch this classic. After a decent weekend, the film is having a stupendous run on weekdays all over. The Tuesday numbers are higher than on Monday which is an indication that Sita Ramam is heading towards a huge commercial hit.

Kalyanram’s Bimbisara too is running with packed houses after a super strong weekend. Both Bimbisara and Sita Ramam brought back the glory of Telugu cinema.

Sita Ramam has a good opening weekend in India with collections increasing day by day . The film took an average opening but the trend is excellent. The collections have gone up each day and Sunday the film has recorded excellent numbers. Word of mouth is playing a very crucial role. The film has collected a distributor share of 8.10 Cr in the domestic markets. The film is an own release in most of the markets and there is a valuation of 12 Cr for the rights in the Telugu States which looks like the film might achieve this in the long run.
