ED files another chargesheet against Jagan

Trouble always loiters around for YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy. Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed another charge sheet in the court against Jagan pertaining to the Penna Cement case. ED mentioned Vijaya Sai Reddy and Penna Pratap Reddy along with Jagan as accused. It alleged the accused of money laundering.

This is 12th charge sheet against the Andhra Pradesh Opposition leader. The CBI filed 11 charge sheets so far in the quid pro quo case that is also referred to as his disproportionate assets (DA) case. Vijaya Sai Reddy was in jail for 16 months along with Jagan in money laundering case in 2013.

In the previous charge-sheets, CBI had alleged that Penna group MD, Pratap Reddy, had paid bribes to Jagan in the guise of investments in his companies.

Jagan to jail, Lokesh to fame, says Varla Ramaiah

0

Vijayawada: “Minister for IT Nara Lokesh is heading to fame with his innovative plans and initiatives to develop the State, while Jaganmohan Reddy is heading to jail for another round in the country’s biggest corruption cases. There is no comparison between the two,” asserted senior TDP leader Varla Ramaiah.

Ramaiah took strong exception to the YSR Congress leaders’ criticism of Lokesh and said that the YSR Congress leaders were are scared of the increasing popularity of the IT Minister. He said that Lokesh had successfully roped in 7 IT companies to the State in a short span of less than a month. The seven IT companies that have opened their offices in Vijayawada are set to provide over 1600 new jobs to the people, which speaks volumes of the visionary approach of Lokesh, he said.

On the contrary, the character of Jaganmohan Reddy is exposed to the world with the CBI booking him in 11 cases and sending him to jail for 16 months. Ramaiah said that the CBI cases would soon be proved against Jaganmohan Reddy and would be sent to jail shortly.

He blamed Jaganmohan Reddy and his YSR Congress for making baseless allegations and derogatory remarks against Lokesh. He said Lokesh had already asked Jaganmohan Reddy and the YSR Congress leaders to prove the charges or tender open apology for the baseless remarks.

Ramaiah also dared the YSR Congress leaders to come for an open debate with him on the corrupton charges against Jaganmohan Reddy. He asked the YSR Congress leaders to fix venue, date and time for the open debate and reiterated that he would prove the charges against Jaganmohan Reddy.

Lokesh asks Jagan to prove charges or apologise

0

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh took serious note of the criticism on him by Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Interacting with the media persons, Lokesh referred to the comments made on him by Jaganmohan Reddy during the latter’s Rythu Deeksha in Guntur the other day. Jaganmohan Reddy had said that people were calling Lokesh as Pappu for his inapt handling of things. He also said that some leaders were calling Lokesh as Locash as the young Minister was insisting on commissions for every work done in the State.

Reacting to these comments, Lokesh dared Jaganmohan Reddy to prove his charges. He said he had dedicated his life for the service of the people and had never indulged in any case. He alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy had misused the office of his father as Chief Minister and had amassed wealth landing finally in the jail. Unlike Jaganmohan Reddy, he was serving the people with commitment and dedication, Lokesh said. He wanted Jaganmohan Reddy to prove the charges or tender an open and unconditional apology to the people of the State. He said that if Jaganmohan Reddy failed to prove or apologise, people of the State would teach him a fitting lesson.

You can’t run Assembly, Jagan warns Chandrababu

0

Guntur: YSR Congress president and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday, issued a serious warning about conducting the Assembly session scheduled for the second half of this month. “You can’t run the Assembly session,” he warned and wanted Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to address the issues of the farmers in the State.

Jaganmohan Reddy addressed the people concluding his two-day protest here. He listed out the steep fall in the prices of agriculture produce starting from Chillies to Mangoes and appealed to the government to intervene and help the farmers. He wanted the government to enter the markets and provide minimum guarantee price to the farmers who were either destroying their produce or committing suicide. He said that the farmers of 18 varieties of crops were looking for help from the government as the prices in the market have come down alarmingly.

The YSR Congress chief said that the Chief Minister was planning to hold two-day special session of Assembly this month to pass the GST Bill. He said his party and the farmers in the State would not allow the government to conduct the proceedings of the Assembly. He wanted the Chief Minister to solve the farmers’ issues first before thinking of the GST.

Stuck in a rut, Jagan strikes again

0

YCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy’s fast for farmers of Andhra Pradesh at Nallapadu, Guntur entered into second day. The two-day hunger strike ‘Rythu Deeksha’ was taken up against the alleged negligence of AP Government problems of farmers. The opposition leader wants to enlighten the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu through this fast.

In politics, consistency and communication is everything. After 2014 elections, it is only these hunger strikes by Jagan that are happening regularly in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan wakes up each day and smells the routine and it could be a new Deeksha or creating ruckus at incident site or stalling the assembly if sessions are in progress.

The YCP chief took up several issues like Special Category status, farmers land acquisition, waters sharing between Telugu states, farmer woes, farmers suicide and performed stunted hunger strikes. Jala Deeksha or Samara Deeksha or Rythu Deeksha – the names and themes are different but the strategy is the same not more than two-three days of hunger strike. The final result of such mundane behaviour is not going to fetch anything. Despite so many fasts, he is mocked for calling himself as CM on several occasions.

Consistency keeps the doors open as actions open the doors. His fasts are unable to influence the people. Jagan may want to assess the impact of his hunger strikes and change his strategy. While fasting is not the only way, his shrewd political strategists may want to modify the approach of not just the leader but also the party. Since the strikes are not working, change the design which caters to the ambition of Jagan – “to become the CM”.

Its my government next, says Jaganmohan Reddy

0

Guntur: YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy declared that his party is all set to come to power in the State in the next elections. Addressing at the two-day protest that he had launched here on Monday seeing remunerative prices to the farmers, Jaganmohan Reddy wanted farmers and the people to wait for two years as this government would not solve their problems. “We are winning the election and we are coming to power. It is our government that is set to come to power next time. Wait till then,” was what he said before sitting in his protest.

Jaganmohan Reddy would be on protest to highlight the problems of the farmers and seeking creation of price stabilisation fund with Rs 5,000 crore as promised by Chandrababu Naidu during the elections.
Meanwhile, Minister for Agriculture Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy and Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pullarao took strong exception to Jaganmohan Reddy’s protest. The Ministers said that the YSR Congress chief had no right to talk about the farmers as his party recognise them during the elections. The Ministers said that the government was taking every step to help the farmers and get remunerative price. The AP government had written twice to the Central government seeking its intervention and increase in the minimum support price. Though the central government had not responded yet, the State government had swung into action and started to purchase paddy, chillies, turmeric and other agriculture produce at various markets. The Ministers said that they were personally supervising the procurement at the market yards in the State and thus helping the farmers.

The Ministers appealed to the farmers not to be carried away by the misleading campaign by Jaganmohan Reddy. They said that the TDP government was doing better than the previous Congress government though the State started with revenue deficit.

Court rejects CBI’s plea to cancel Jagan’s bail

0

The Principal Court for CBI rejected the CBI’s plea to cancel the bail granted to Andhra Pradesh Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

It differed with the argument put forth by CBI that Jagan had tried to influence the witness conducting interview in Sakshi channel. The court also also permitted the YSRCP chief to go on a family summer vacation to New Zealand for 15days between May 15 and June 15. Moving forward Jagan might avoid such situations.

The interview of former Chief Secretary Ramakanth Reddy based on which CBI filed petition was pre-recorded and aired on Sakshi News Channel and the contents of the said interview have been published in Sakshi Daily Newspaper on 26Feb2017

In his interview Ramakanth stated that he asked JD two questions which called the wrath of CBI. Without naming the persons, the former CS inquired with Joint Director if they are investigating those particular individuals who were involved. JD allegedly said he doesn’t have jurisdiction and so cannot investigate. When Ramakanth highlighted about his powers, JD supposedly said that it is better to leave it as it may become big. That’s when Ramakanth said “I don’t trust your investigation”

Another question he asked to Laxminarayana was about his travel to abroad to find out details about suitcase companies and money laundering. JD allegedly responded by saying that, they wouldn’t be travelling but would send letter. Ramakanth insisted on travel as they wouldn’t respond to it unless a person is present. JD said “if we get the letter it is well and good, if not that’s okay.” This is when Ramakanth again said “I don’t trust your investigation”.

Jagan which was granted in September 2013, after 16 months of detention on the ground and there are 11 quid pro quo cases pending against him.

Jagan, Pawan go for poll strategists as Naidu hints at early poll

Vijayawada: The early polls indication given by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has become the talk of the State for the past couple of days. The hint dropped by Chandrababu Naidu had alerted the rivals to get ready for the battle. While Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had welcomed the early polls move, YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy is said to be launching consultations with the experts.

Jana Sena chief had held first round of consultations with elections strategist Steve Jarding at Boston during his recent visit to US. Jarding, a lecturer at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harward, played key role in the election strategy for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Though Akhilesh Yadav failed to deliver this time, Jarding did not lose his popularity as he had already hinted at the negative trend that Akhilesh was having this time.

With Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement on early elections, Jana Sena chief had already reacted positively welcoming the decision. He said his party was ready for the elections whenever they come. He had already started recruiting the party leaders as advised by Jarding. He believes that this recruitment would help his party stand strong as the Left parties do with their whole-timers.

Meanwhile, Jaganmohan Reddy, is learned to have started holding consultations with strategist Prashant Kishore on his election strategy. Prashant Kishore is currently the adviser to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2015 elections. He also worked for Narendra Modi in the 2014 elections. While Kishore is contemplating on joining the Congress party this time, it is said that Jaganmohan Reddy wants the strategist to help his party in the State.

While the two leaders are getting ready with the renowned political strategists, Machiavellian politician he is, Chandrababu Naidu has his own ways to lead his party to victory. Unlike the other two leaders, Naidu does not require any strategist to face the elections and he is marching ahead on his plans for early polls.

Varla Ramaiah wants CBI to seize Jagan’s passport

0

Vijayawada: Senior Telugu Desam leader and AP Housing Corporation chairman Varla Ramaiah had asked the CBI to seize the passport of YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to prevent him from leaving the country. As the CBI court is scheduled to give its verdict on CBI’s plea for cancellation of Jaganmohan Reddy’s bail petition on April 28, Ramaiah hinted at the possibility of the leader leaving the country to avoid arrest.

Ramaiah recalled that Vijay Mallya had fled from the country to avoid arrest and feared that Jaganmohan Reddy too would escape if the government and the courts remain silent. He further said that Jaganmohan Reddy had already sought permission from the court to go for holidays to New Zealand. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy is facing 11 charge sheets, while his assets were attached by the Enforcement Directorate in 4 cases. Stating that the government was having tough time to bring Vijay Mallya who is accused in Rs 9,000 crore, he wondered how can the government allow Jaganmohan Reddy who is accused in Rs 43,000 crore fraud case.

The TDP leader further alleged that Jaganmohan Reddy was also trying to influence witnesses in the CBI cases, besides misleading the courts. He cited the interview of former chief secretary Ramakanth Reddy in the Sakshi media and said that the interview was an open attempt by Jaganmohan Reddy to mislead the courts.

He took strong exception to the YSR Congress leaders drawing parallels between Jaganmohan Reddy and Nara Lokesh. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy had indulged in criminal activities when his father was chief minister, while Lokesh was extending welfare programmes to the party cadre with his father as Chief Minister. “There is a complete difference between Jaganmohan Reddy and Lokesh and it is unfair to compare them. Lokesh is not a criminal and corrupt like Jaganmohan Reddy,” he asserted.

Battle lines drawn in AP as parties gear up for early polls

Vijayawada: It looks like the political parties in Andhra Pradesh have drawn battle lines anticipating early polls as sounded by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday with his party leaders. In no time, Chandrababu Naidu had appointed all his ministers as incharges for all the 25 Lok Sabha Constituencies in the State. Besides trying to make his Telugu Desam Party stronger through these appointments, Chandrababu Naidu is also targeting at the Opposition. It was seen in the government sending the police to the Opposition YSR Congress party office and serving a notice to its IT wing to appear for enquiry on their social media posts against the government. This had further ignited the war between the ruling party and the Opposition with Y S Jaganmohan Reddy giving an open call to all the Telugu people across the globe to expose the TDP’s rule.

In the two-edged strategy that Chandrababu Naidu had adopted, he had first handpicked his Cabinet Ministers to be incharges for the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. Except Union Ministers Y S Chowdary, who was made incharge of the Kurnool Lok Sabha constituency and P Ashok Gajapathi Raju for Anakapalli, the Chief Minister had nominated the rest of his Cabinet Ministers for each of the constituencies. His son Lokesh is made incharge of the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.

Chandrababu Naidu had set the target of the Lok Sabha Constituency incharge Ministers to coordinate the MP and MLAs in their respective area and keep the rank and file intact. The incharge Ministers would now have their word carried, keeping the respective MP aside. While it is to be seen if this incharge structure would help the party to keep the folks together or lead to dissidence and divide, Chandrababu Naidu believes that incharges have to hold responsibility in leading the party to the next elections.

The second edge strategy of weakening the Opposition seems to have failed as the police who went aggressive in arresting a social media activist had to retreat and free the ‘accused’. Jaganmohan Reddy’s aggressive call to his supporters is all set to see a tough battle fought in the social media ahead of the elections.

Jagan picks up Guntur once again for his deeksha

Guntur: Opposition leader and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had once again picked up Guntur for his protest. This time again for two days and it would be to highlight the issues of the farmers and the failures of the government. He would be on the two-day protest from April 26.

The farmers of mangoes, chillies, turmeric green gram have been facing severe crisis with the prices falling alarmingly this year. While the green gram crop is totally lost in several parts of the State pushing the farmers into deep crisis, the prices of chillies, turmeric and even mangoes have come down by two to three times when compared with the previous year. In addition to this the farmers across the State have been facing severe drought. The State government had declared 301 revenue mandals drought hit and had sent proposals to the Center for financial support. Taking all these factors, and also the loan waiver issue, into consideration, Jaganmohan Reddy would be on a two-day protest.

Earlier, Jaganmohan Reddy had held a similar protest in Guntur on September 26, 2015 against the delay in announcing Special Category Status to the State. In October same year, he held a protest in Guntur against the RTC tariff hike. This time he is planning for a two-day protest and the venue is likely to be the Mirchi Yard area on the outskirts of Guntur.

While the reasons he had chosen to protest are political, there is a strategic plan to decide on Guntur as venue for his protests. As the capital, Amaravati, is located between Vijayawada and Guntur, the area has less grip for Jaganmohan Reddy on the social combination. The Amaravati is dominated by the Kamma community that owns the ruling Telugu Desam Party and it would be next to impossible for Jaganmohan Reddy to capture it politically. However, as politician, it is not wise to lose the capital though he has no base or low base. The advantage for him is the Tadepalli mandal, which is part of the capital and it is here Jaganmohan Reddy is relocating his residence and party office, because of the presence of Reddy community. The mandal is predominantly held by the Reddy community which is the reason for Jaganmohan Reddy to feel comfortable. In Guntur district, the Reddy community is strong in the Palnadu region. If ruling TDP feels it is comfortable in Amaravati with the Kamma community playing a dominant role, the YSR Congress is placed comfortably on the outskirts of the capital. It is for this reason, Jaganmohan Reddy is holding protest in Guntur and is believed to have decided to make it as his base to hit at the ruling TDP.

Silpa Mohan Reddy is firm on contesting Nandyal seat

0

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam leader and former MLA Silpa Mohan Reddy affirmed that he would contest the Nandyal Assembly seat in its by-elections. He told media persons that he would contest the seat to protect and save his supporters in the district.

Mohan Reddy and his brother Chakrapani Reddy met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his residence in Undavalli on Wednesday night. The brothers waited for several hours to meet the Chief Minister at Velagapudi secretariat in vain. The two leaders met several ministers too as they were kept waiting from morning and made their claims clear to the TDP leadership.

Even after meeting Chandrababu Naidu, the Silpa brothers said that they were not ready to give up their claim for the Nandyal Assembly seat. “We are contesting the by-election. There is no second thought on it, come what may. We hope the Chief Minister would take a decision in our favour,” said the brothers during their brief interaction with the media while coming out of the meeting with Chandrababu Naidu.

The Silpa family had already made its stand clear to the TDP leadership about its stakes on the Nandyal seat. They went one step ahead and declared that “contesting the by-election is certain and there is no change. The only issue to be cleared is whether we would be contesting on the TDP ticket or YSR Congress ticket or as Independent.”

Though there are no positive signals from the YSR Congress leadership to this statement of the Silpa brothers, it is said that they have already sent feelers to Jaganmohan Reddy. The YSR Congress, which is also equally firm on contesting the seat, is waiting for the TDP squabbles to settle down.

The Silpa brothers are going tough particularly in the light of Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya setting the date, April 24, to announce the name of their candidate for the by-election. Surprisingly, while it is the party president Chandrababu Naidu who is expected to announce the name of the candidate for the election, the two groups are declaring their names giving no room for Chandrababu Naidu, making the battle tougher and interesting too.

AP govt moves forward on land pooling, farmers look for muted Pawan

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government had made one step forward to take the lands of the farmers who have not given their lands in land pooling system to the government for the new capital. The government had issued land acquisition notification last week, notifying the lands of Undavalli and Penumaka villages that have been refusing to give land to the government for capital. The government had issued the notification under Clauses 1 (1), (B) under the Andhra Pradesh Land Acquisition, Relief and Rehabilitation Rules 2014.

While the government had notified 29 villages of Thulluru, Tadepalli and Mangalagiri mandals for the capital – Amaravati – and took up the land pooling system to collect the lands from farmers, the villages under Tadepalli and Mangalagiri have been resisting the pooling system. They have put up banners in Undavalli and Penumaka villages of Tadepalli mandal, Yerrupalem and Bethapudi of Mangalagiri mandal refusing to give their lands. Several of them have approached the courts against land pooling, while some of them have not given the required papers accepting the land pooling system. It was in these villages, Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan have toured in 2016 in support of the farmers. While Jaganmohan Reddy had promised to return their lands if they wanted once he came to power, Pawan Kalyan advised the government not to use force to take the lands. He had even asked the government not to issue land acquisition notification. Now that the government had issued the notification, the farmers are looking towards Pawan Kalyan to save their lands.

“Pawan Kalyan had promised to stand by us and he had promised to fight for us if the government issued land acquisition notification. Now, the government had issued the notification. We have sent a representation to the Jana Sena chief and waiting for him to react,” said Penumaka farmers’ leader Naresh Reddy. A team of farmers have also approached Pawan Kalyan seeking his intervention to save their lands.

The government can’t move even a inch forward in developing the new capital, Amaravati, if it failed to take lands in Undavalli and Penumaka, the mouth of the capital. It is by passing through these villages, one can reach Amaravati and it required lands to lay roads and bridges. The proposed six-lane Seed Access Road from Kanakadurga Varadhi (Chennai-Kolkata national highway) to Thulluru would require lands in Undavalli and Penumaka which are not given yet to the government. If these lands are not taken, the government cannot lay the road from Vijayawada to reach the new capital zone. The government would have to take a new route from Mangalagiri to the core capital area passing through Kuragallu, Neerukonda and Inavolu. The existing flood bank passing along the river from Prakasam Barrage is another option for the government if it cannot get the lands of Undavalli and Penumaka villages. The flood bank (karakatta) can be expanded and used as access road to the capital from Vijayawada through Prakasam Barrage. However, as Prakasam Barrage requires to be closed once in a year for maintenance of the gates, the government would have to use an alternative and permanent road from Kanakadurga Varadhi. This too has a big problem as the farmers of Tadepalli through which the road has to be formed, are opposed to the land acquisition. Caught in a critical situation like this, the government had issued the notification to acquire 680 acres of land in Penumaka village.

Farmers’ leader Naresh Reddy expressed confidence that Pawan Kalyan would come to their rescue and save them from the forcible acquisition of their lands. It is to be seen how Pawan Kalyan would react to the request from the farmers to whom he had promised to stand by.

Pawan Kalyan c/o Eluru , ….Jagan still lost in Hyderabad?

0

Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan’s decision to shift base to Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, has raised several eyebrows in the political circles. TDP chief and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is the one who first shifted to Vijayawada even before State is set for division. Now, the Jana Sena leader is making Eluru his care of address c/o. The Congress party too set up an office in Seemandhra.

But the YSRCP, which is exuding confidence that it would come to power in AP in 2019 election, is however tightlipped over shifting its base to AP. The YSRCP seems to be fighting a lone battle in Hyderabad. Now, this has become a hot topic among the political circles.

While all the major parties – the TDP, the Congress, and the left parties are monitoring their political activities from Seemandhra region, the YSRCP, a principle opposition party in AP, is working from Hyderabad. For any crucial meeting with regard to the AP politics, the leaders have to come all the way to Lotus Pond in Hyderabad. Besides this, party chief Jagan have to start from Hyderabad to attend any protest programme in Andhra Pradesh.

In fact, the YSRCP has not ground left in Telangana. Chances of faring well in coming elections are also too less. At this juncture, there is no point in sticking to Hyderabad leaving a chance behind to the TDP to benefit is a foolish move, opined the party functionaries.

Pawan is giving a good fight to the YSRCP by connecting to the people with public meetings. From the farmers of the capital regions to the victims of Aqua park, Pawan is addressing the concerns of the people. If Jagan failed to notice, there is severe fear among the party cadre.

Greatandhra’s hypocrisy regarding Naidu’s new house

0

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu is building a new house in Hyderabad by demolishing his old house in Road No 65, Jubilee Hills. The old home had only two bed rooms and a hall and so the family decided to rebuild the house in the same land as his family has grown after Naidu’s son Lokesh got married. Family has grown even bigger with arrival of Naidu’s grandson. For a Chief Minister, the new planned house, as per GHMC approval, a three floor structure with five bed rooms and a courtyard, is a modest one. However, Greatandhra portal didn’t like this and started spitting venom. There was a report (Title : Why does Naidu need a mansion in Hyderabad) appeared in that portal  yesterday questioning why Naidu was building a house in Hyderabad when the city is no longer part of new state.

The said portal didn’t have the ‘DARE TO WRITE’ about Jagan and question Jagan as to why he built a ‘White House’ palace in Bangalore, between 2004-2009, when the capital of the state was Hyderabad. And even to date, Jagan still lives in Hyderabad and stays in Bangalore on weekends but NOT in new Andhra Pradesh. Being main opposition party leader, Mr. Jagan mohan Reddy has crucial responsibility of staying in his own state ( residual AP) all the time. The portal that ‘DARES TO WRITE’ never wrote on this. The portal also bemoans that Naidu is building a 19,000 square feet.

Firstly, as per GHMC layout reviewed by Telugu360, the proposed new house by Naidu family is much smaller than reported and it is a 5-bed room house. Again, the portal in the past never wrote about 90,000 sq ft area Lotus Pond, which has 30 bed rooms and a three-floor underground parking  .

This type of article is an example of agenda driven propaganda in garb of journalism. Mr. Naidu has his own shortfalls, all the media including Telugu360 portal have reported extensively on various issues related to Naidu’s government wrong deeds and his political incorrect actions. Criticizing Mr. Naidu for building a house in Hyderabad on his own property is part of hate propaganda carried out vehemently by certain section of media. This portal always refers to other news papers as “yellow (Pacha) media”. But, in reality isn’t this text book “yellow journalism” by GreatAndhra  ?

(Telugu360’s  earlier Media Watch articles  pointing out EENADU,  AndhraJyothy Agendas : About Eenadu’s false claims about Naidu and AndhraJyothy’s repeated claims about Governor change)

Call Money: End of Jagan’s Fight for Special Status ?

0

As the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh ran out of steam, Call Money has become cause célèbre for Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The first day of the winter session today had successfully been exploited by YSR party. This issue had been used to attack chief minister Naidu in every conceivable way. Unlike, special status issue, where Naidu could at best be criticized for not putting enough pressure on centre for getting special status, Call Money racket has all the elements of a masala movie to make a villain out of Naidu. Simple Call Money is not an effective weapon to hit at the CM. Because, lending money at exorbitant rate of interest is not new in any part of the country. The private money lenders had already been blamed for the suicides of farmers long back. The element of sex racket has made the call money all the more powerful. Jagan is in a hurry to do as much damage to his bête noire as possible before the links of other political leaders with call money connections are exposed. Because, police records say no party is free from call money taint.

But, today Jagan attacked chief minister Naidu with choicest epithets to show him as the man responsible for the whole racket. Addressing media, after the adjournment of Assembly for the day, the Opposition Leader Jaganmohan Reddy called Chandrababu Naidu ” Call Babu, Money Babu and Sex Racket Babu. He said today’s Assembly looked worse than the Kaurava Sabha and Dusshasana Sabha. He alleged that the Call Money cum Sex Racket had the direct blessings of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said his party had in its possession photographs of Chandrababu Naidu with the accused of the Call Money racket. He displayed some photographs for the benefit of media. He alleged that Ambedkar reference was taken only to distract the people’s attention from the real issue.

Even though many TDP MLAs and MLCs had their fingers in the racket, Naidu had no courage to touch upon them, he alleged. ” Naidu is leaving no stone unturned to divert the people’s attention away from the sex racket. He has no right to continue in power even for a day,” he said and added that his party MLAs Sivaprasada Reddy and Ramalingeswar Rao had been suspended simply because they questioned Naidu’s role in the call money racket. Jagan even alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was getting benefited from land , sand and sex mafia to show that the issue is of much more important than the special status to AP.

In the meantime, the special status issue has got reduced to a small dharna near Gandhi statue in Parliament House by YSRC MPs today.

R’seema perspective: Can Jagan claim YSR legacy?

0

O P N I O N

-Kuradi Chandraseakhara Kalkura

Few crocodile tears would have been shed when the fasting President of the YSRCP and the Leader of the Opposition in the A.P.Legislative Assembly was taken into custody, admitted in the Guntur General Hospital, discharged after a thorough medical examination and safely landed in Lotus Pond, his sweet home. It is well known that his demand is Special Category state (SCS)Status for A.P. Almost all the major political parties are demanding the same. Each party has its own strategy and plan of action. But none of them are prepared to accept certain realities. A Justifiable undercurrent in Rayalaseema, grave injustice that is being done to the region, is not addressed by any one. Both the Srikrishna Commission and the Sivaramakrishnan Committee have categorically stated the backwardness of the region and stressed the need to develop it on par with other regions. The neglect is being almost perpetuated with impunity. The promised institutions and the development are being allotted to other places.

Most of the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, including the present one Chandrababu Naidu have been from Rayalaseema. At present, except Hari Babu of BJP (Visakhapatnam), the Presidents of all the major political parties are from Rayalaseema; Madhu of CPM from Nellore, considered part of the Greater Rayalaseema. But none of them raise their voice in favor of their region. They fear losing the ground in other regions. Let me go a flashback in A.P politics.

Prakasam Pantulu, in 1953 roared and selected Kurnool as the Capital of the newly formed Andhra State. NT Rama Rao vowed to have the Telugu University at Srisailam; foiled by the later Governments. In 1971 the Congress (Ruling) led by Indira Gandhi swept the elections in the whole country. Dr. Chenna Reddy attracted the national attention when he formed Telangana Praja Samithi, demanding separate Telangana in 1970 and won ten and lost only four seats in Telangana region in 1971 General Elections to the Lok Sabha. (Nizamabad, Adilabad and Khammam to Congress and Miryalaguda to CPM). Tables were turned against her in the 1977 General Elections as she was unseated from the Prime Ministership; losing her strong hold Rae Bareli to Raj Narain. A Shrewd Ms. Gandhi invited Chenna Reddy to head the Congress in the general elections to the State Legislature in 1978. Dr Reddy became the Chief Minister of the United A.P. Dr.Rajasekhar Reddy led the Rayalaseema agitation from 1985-89 to focus his leadership capacity. He had to wait for nearly two decades to occupy the aspired Chief Ministership of A.P.
No political party is raising the Rayalaseema issues. Agitations for Special Status for A.P. is not the solution for Rayalaseema problems. They deserve to be addressed separately. In case “Special Status’ is granted to the A.P. where is the guarantee that it will be decentralised? Will there be no step motherly treatments? In all probabilities all the benefits under the Special Status will be knocked off by the Coastal Andhra only. Unless a special package, with Constitutional guarantee, inlcuding water is awarded to Rayalaseema there is bound to be a Telangana type of agitation, for a separate Rayalaseema State sooner than later. The simmering discontent will reach the boiling point and an agitation is imminent.
The crux of the problem of Rayalaseema is water. The water share of the region is around 20% and if all the pending projects are completed, it will not cross 50%. Whereas for North Coastal Andhra it is 50% at present and 80% projected. There is a ray of hope from the most unexpected quarters. In a surprise move, BJP, MLC from A.P. Some Veerraju hit out at the TDP Government accusing if of misleading the people and the Centre on Ploavaram and Pattiseema. He also advised the YSRCP to question the TDP why the Government had failed to supply even drinking water to the Rayalaseema region and asked its chief Jaganmohan Reddy to stop blaming the centre unnecessarily. The issue, water is a pertinent one for it is the crux of the probelm that Rayalaseema is facing. The much hyped Pattiseema is a fraud on Rayalaseema. Though the project was inaugurated with much fan fare, even nearly a month after it has not yielded the desired results. Apart from the faulty commissioning of the Project, because of some other administrative and technical hurdles Rayalaseema is not in a position to get the projected benefits.

If Rayalaseema is to get the announced benefits, it must get the ‘Assured water’ and ‘not the surplus water.’ At the same time the declared storage level at Srisailam to flow down shall be raised from 850 Ft. and revised as per the original design at 854 ft. For all the beneficiary canals of Rayalaseema, K.C., SRBC, Telugu Ganga, Handri – Nivva, and Galeru – Nagari, water is discharged through Pothireddypadu Head Regulator of the Srisailam Dam. Forcefully defending the proposal to increase its discharging capacity, on the floor of the Assembly on 6th Oct.2005, the strong man of Rayalaseema, Dr. Rajasekhar Reddy, the then Chief Minister said: “The neglect of irrigation projects by the previous regime was giving scope for separatist tendencies and asserted that his Government would spend Rs.46,000 crores in the coming years and complete all pending projects”. The same charge is being leveled by the present Government against the previous one. In the political name game mutual accusations have not brought any concrete results.

Why the son, Jagan, claiming his father’s legacy is silent about the issue. It is Rayalaseema, particularly, Kadapa and Kurnool Districts those gave him the political life. It nursed him; rared him. groomed him and nurtured him. He is fearing apathy from Coastal Andhra. He is not accepted there and will be rejected in Rayalaseema. It is being discussed that Babu is neglecting Rayalaseema; diverting all the benefits announced to these districts to other districts in the State. Even though its capacity to discharge is increased declared storage level to flow down is not increased. It remains at 850 ft. Whereas the water is discharged through the Regulator only at 854 Ft. Rayalaseema will get the benefit only when the storage level is increased to the optimum level. If there is early monsoon and seasonal rain there is possibility that the water can be released in time for the Karif Season. If there is shortage of rain in the catchment area, even drinking water cannot be discharged till the outflow level is raised to 854 ft. This season Karif season is lost in Rayalaseema. Though there is enough water in Nagarjunasagar for drinking purposes, 7 Tmcf is released from Srisailam with that pretext.

YSR Congress president and Opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Jaganmohnareddy sought appointment with Prime Minister Narendera Modi, when he visits Andhra Pradesh on October 22, to lay the foundation stone for the Amaravati capital.

He requested the Prime Minister to grant appointment either at Tirupati airport or at Gangavaram.

Jagan said this request was response to the overwhelming aspirations of the people of the state. ” Our party, YSR Congress, has been making all possible efforts to achieve the special category status to our state. As part of this, we organized several programs including a dharna at Jantar Manta, New Delhi, and the latest being indefinite fast my me, which was of course, foiled by the state government on 7th day of the fast. We have no other choice except continuing our efforts to fulfill the aspirations of our public,” Jagan said in the letter.

Knowing from the media that he will be invited to foundation laying ceremony for the capital on October 22, the main opposition party in Andhra Pradesh YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday evening released an open letter stating that he will not be attending the event as he does not want to be a part of any scams. He also alleged that the state government is developing the real estate business and not the capital city.

Reacting on Jagan’s comment, Nara Lokesh who is the TDP general secretary at both AP and Telangana came hard on Jagan. He stated that Jagan is not able to come to his senses that the dream of AP people is coming true.

He also asked the YSRCP’s leader to donate his 1 lakh cr for Amaravati.

Criticising Jagan, Lokesh tweeted, “Unfortunate Jagan declined to be part of building Amravathi. Hope it comes to his senses that it’s a dream come true for 5cr Andhrites. If he changes his mind, can be part by donating his 1L Cr @ http://www.amaravati.gov.in first, before making baseless comments on @ncbn.”

We have to wait and see how YSRCP will counter these comments from the son of Chandrababu Naidu.
