Kantara (all versions) 55 days Worldwide Collections – 9th highest south indian grosser

Kantara has almost completed its run worldwide as the film is now available on Amazon prime. With a gross of more than 390 Cr, the film is now the 9th highest-grossing South Indian Film beating Pushpa The Rise. The film has an outstanding run in all markets and it has achieved some unbelievable. The film has beaten KGF-2 (Kannada version gross) in Karnataka and all versions have also come very near. It’s quite unbelievable because the scale of the two films is completely opposite with Kanatara made on a budget of 1/7 of KGF-2. The film has grossed more than 58 cr in the Telugu States, and nearly 100 cr in North India. The film did outstanding business in Kerala grossing 18 cr which is way higher than Tamil Nadu which is a much bigger market.

It has grossed 4.3 Million in Overseas markets with a 50 percent contribution from North America alone. Telugu Version has grossed more than Million Dollars in Overseas markets.

‘Never thought we would be where we are today: ‘KGF’ director Prashanth Neel

With ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ gearing up for release, the buzz around the movie’s star continues to grow.

The movie’s director Prashant Neel told Bollywood actor and director Farhan Akhtar about the film’s star Yash’s role in the KGF success story.

Yash and ‘KGF’ garnered a worldwide following after the release of the ‘KGF: Chapter 1’. The actor who enjoys a massive Kannada fan base, emerged as a pan-India star with the release of the film in 2018.

In a recent interaction with Farhan Akhtar, Yash and Prashanth Neel spoke in detail about the process of developing KGF into the big name that it is today.

Prashanth mentioned that KGF’s eight-year-long journey gave them the confidence which helped them take the film to another level. The filmmaker also added, “When we started we never thought that we would be where we are today”.

Crediting Yash, Neel extended his gratitude and said “The only person that had this vision was Yash. We started this as a small Kannada project and today the film is really big and the expectations are very high”

Adding more to the discussion, Prashant said “Initially, it was meant to be a Kannada movie. However, Yash helped cinematic comedy in the same way he wrote the script. This movie is coming to a release. It feels like I am marrying off my daughter”, said Prashant.

Releasing nationwide on April 14, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam, ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ is written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the Hombale Films banner.

An emerging pan-India production house Hombale Films is set to showcase some of the biggest films in Indian cinema over the next two years, including the much-awaited film ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas.

‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is being presented in north Indian markets by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films. Excel has given super hits like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, and ‘Gully Boy’ among others.

‘KGF 2’ producers to request AP govt for ticket price hike

With only a few days left over for the grand release of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, the producers seem to be a bit worried about the ticket prices in the two Telugu states.

As the Yash-starrer doesn’t fall under the category of a regional movie in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the producers are not quite sure about the ticket prices.

The producers of ‘KGF 2’ are trying to have talks with the AP government for ticket price hike and have quoted that their film justifies the government’s condition for hike as it is a pan-India film and higher than the Rs 100 crore budget.

However, there is no clarity if the AP government applies the budget quote for a Kannada movie, yet.

On the other hand, the team is not yet sure about ticket prices or hikes in Telangana as well.

‘KGF 2’ is a pan-India Kannada movie, which is made on a massive budget. Looking at the buzz and craze around the ‘KGF’ franchise, the distributors have bought the film for record amounts, sources suggest.

So, to make reasonable profits in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the team needs to check on the current ticket prices in both the Telugu states.

After the announcement of the release date of RRR, several Tollywood biggies locked their new release dates and the announcements were made. It came as a surprise after F3 and Acharya were announced for release in a gap of a day. F3 hits the screens on April 28th and Chiranjeevi’s Acharya is slated for April 29th release. KGF: Chapter 2 is also slated for April release and the film is hitting the screens on April 14th. The makers of Acharya announced April 1st release and they moved to April 29th instead of choosing one more date in April. Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak will release on April 1st.

The weeks before and after the release of KGF: Chapter 2 are kept vacant and the makers of Acharya announced April 29th release for the film. The makers of F3 announced that the film will release on April 28th long ago. KGF: Chapter 2 is a dubbed film and it would get a comfortable release while two Tollywood biggies F3 and Acharya are heading for a clash. This has left the entire industry and distribution sector in shock. Now the makers of Ramarao On Duty announced that the film will release on April 15th. The slots of April 8th and 22nd are still vacant. Either Acharya or F3 will have to move out to one more date for sure.

The strategy of Acharya makers is surprising. F3’s producer Dil Raju who resolved several clashes in the past is tight-lipped for now. On the whole, Tollywood cleared paths and paved a grand release for KGF: Chapter 2.

Zee Studios bets big on KGF: Chapter 2

Kannada superstar Yash is super excited to share screen space with Raveena Tandon in the second chapter of “KGF”.

In the film, Raveena will be seen playing the role of a cop Ramika Sen.

Welcoming the actress on-board, Yash took to Instagram and wrote: “Ramika Sen may not be welcome to Rocky’s territory.. but Raveena ma’am is definitely more than welcome to Yash’s hometown!It’s a pleasure having you onboard ma’am !! Let’s have a blast.”

Ravina too shared a post with Yash on her Instagram handle. She uploaded a boomerang video in which they both can be seen giving deadly looks.

“When looks can kill.. the ‘death warrant’ has been signed on,” Raveena captioned the post.

Commenting on Raveena’s post, Yash used a line from the actress’s hit song in “Mohra”, her 1994 superhit, “Tu cheez badi hai mast”.

“Yeh warrant cheese hai badi mast mast.. but still needs Rocky’s approval so let’s stick to looks for now,” Yash wrote.

And to that, Raveena gave a perfect reply. She also used the hook line of her another hit song “Ankhiyon se goli maare”.

“Yash your ilaaka, your approval, done. My territory, my rules ! Nahin toh ankhiyon se bhi goli maare,” Raveena responded, using a line from another of her superhit songs, from the film “Dulhe Raja”.

“KGF: Chapter 2” will release worldwide in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. The film is a follow-up of the 2018 Kannada blockbuster “KGF: Chapter 1”, which starred Kannada star Yash with Tamannaah Bhatia and Ananth Nag.
