Lyca Announces their next biggie

Lyca Productions is going beyond everyone’s expectations. They announced their next big film. Rajinikanth and TJ Gnanavel are collaborating for a film, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar170. Thalaivar is lined up with several projects. He is currently working for Jailer and also Lal Salam in Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s direction.

This is the third time Lyca working with Rajinikanth. Earlier they worked for 2.0 and Darbar. Jai Bhim fame director TJ Gnanavel’s sensible storytelling is expected to be an asset for Thalaivar’s film. Makers wrote, “We are feeling honoured to announce our next association with “Superstar” Rajinikanth”. Rockstar Anirudh Ravichander will be the music composer. The film starts rolling after Rajinikanth is done with his current projects.

Rajinikanth signs two-film deal with Lyca Productions

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has signed two films with popular production house Lyca Productions, best known for having produced director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ along with ‘Madras Talkies’.

Work on these films will begin soon after ‘Jailer’, the film that Rajinikanth is currently working on.

Sources said that of the two films that Rajinikanth will work with Lyca, one is to be officially launched on November 5 in a grand fashion.

They said that already the unit of the first film has begun work and is finalising the list of actors who will be a part of the film.

Meanwhile, work on ‘Jailer’ continues at a brisk pace. The film, apart from Rajinikanth, also features actress Ramya Pandian, Malayalam actor Vinayakan, comedian Yogi Babu and actor Vasanth Ravi.

‘Jailer’, which is Rajinikanth’s 169th film, is being produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures and has Anirudh scoring its music.

Exclusive: Allu Arjun and Lyca to join Hands

Stylish Star Allu Arjun is on cloud nine after his recent film Pushpa: The Rise made huge money all over. The film performed beyond the expectations in Hindi and Tamil. Top production house Lyca Productions acquired the Tamil rights and they made decent profits through Pushpa: The Rise. Frankly saying, Lyca took a risk and bought the Tamil theatrical rights for a price of Rs 7 crores. Though there were deals for Rs 3 crores, Lyca bagged the rights for a whopping price of Rs 7 crores.

During the film’s promotions, Allu Arjun promised to stand for Lyca Productions if the production house tastes losses because of Pushpa: The Rise. During his recent meeting, Bunny promised a film for Lyca Productions but it is unclear when the film will happen. The production house will stage a hunt for the right script and director to lock Allu Arjun for a pan-Indian film. For now, Bunny gave his nod for the top Tamil production house and the project will happen in the next few years. He has Pushpa: The Rule and an untitled film with Boyapati Sreenu lined up.

Lyca Productions writes to Telugu Film Chamber

The issue between Lyca Productions and Shankar over Indian 2 row is getting murkier every single day. After the Lyca Productions approached the Madras High Court, Shankar replied with a strong counter-petition. The next hearing is scheduled to take place on June 4th. Before this, Lyca Productions wrote to the Telugu Film Chamber asking them to stall the next project of Shankar. The production house urged the Telugu Film Chamber to restrict Shankar about his next Telugu film with Ram Charan asking the body to intervene in the issue.

Lyca Productions also wrote to the Bollywood Film Chamber about the same after Shankar announced a film with Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Shankar announced a pan-Indian film with Ram Charan that will be produced by Dil Raju. The project is expected to roll later this year. Shankar also announced the remake of Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Pen Studios are the producers.

Breaking: Lyca Productions initiates legal battle against Shankar

Sensational director Shankar and the producers Lyca Productions have been at loggerheads ever since the project Indian 2 started. The film faced several hurdles during the shooting mode and it finally got stalled. Though there are a lot of speculations that all is not well between Shankar and Lyca, the duo stayed tightlipped. The film’s lead actor Kamal Haasan tried to sort out the issues but he could not resolve them and he moved on to his next projects. The latest update coming says that Lyca Productions moved to Madras High Court over the Indian 2 issue.

The production house asked the court to restrict Shankar from moving on to his next announced project with Ram Charan before he completes the shoot of Indian 2. The top production house said that they are ready to deposit the pending Rs 50 crores to complete the shoot. Lyca told that the planned budget is Rs 230 crores and they have spent Rs 180 crores on the film till date. The Madras High Court issued notices to director Shankar and asked him to reply at the earliest. Indian 2 features Kamal Haasan, Kajal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet in the lead roles.

Rajini intervenes between Frustrated Lyca and Unsatisfied Shankar

Superstar Rajinikanth pinned many hopes on his next film 2.0 which has been named as the country’s costliest film. Shankar, the film’s director managed to miss three deadlines which did not go well with the makers Lyca Productions. After the film walked out of summer race, Lyca was not really happy with Shankar and the series of delays. They wanted the film to hit the screens during summer and Shankar revealed that he was unsatisfied with the post-production work. This did not bother Lyca and they were left frustrated. Right after Rajinikanth came to know about the drift between Shankar and Lyca, he intervened to stop further damage for 2.0.

Rajinikanth after listening to both promised to release Kaala during the summer slot which has been allotted for 2.0 after which the issue got resolved. Shankar too voted for Rajinikanth’s decision as he could get ample time to carve out his masterpiece. Lyca too was convinced as they hold the theatrical rights of Kaala which has been bankrolled by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films. Shankar is now back to work and 2.0 may either hit the screens during the Independence Day weekend or during Diwali. Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar played the lead roles in 2.0.

Kaala directed by PA Ranjith will be released across the globe by Lyca Productions in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages.

A few days ago, Tollywood producer Dil Raju announced that he will pool resources to the Shankar – Kamal Hasaan’s dream sequel Bharateeyudu 2. The ace producer’s decision came as a huge surprise for many because he is known for his prudent filmmaking style in terms of the budget and it may not sink with Shankar’s grandiose plans.

Telugu360 has carried out an exclusive news in the last week regarding Dil Raju’s exit from the project. We reported that Dil Raju is not happy with the exorbitant remunerations quoted by Shankar and Kamal Hassan. Also, he is wary of the fact that he cannot oversee the production formalities from Hyderabad. So, he has decided to reconsider his decision and backed out from the project.

Now, it is learnt that Lyca Productions, one of the leading production houses in South, has decided to take up the project. Lyca is currently bankrolling India’s most expensive film 2.0, which is being directed by Shankar. So, Bharateeyudu 2 is happening for sure, but with a change in the production house.
