Setback for TRS in Legislative Council polls

0

Ruling TRS in Telangana received a setback with the party backed candidates losing elections to three seats of the Legislative Council.

Two outgoing members of the upper house of the state legislature were among the candidates who lost the elections.

Senior Congress leader and former Minister T. Jeevan Reddy was declared elected from Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Medak graduates constituency as the counting of ballots ended in the early hours of Wednesday.

Jeevan Reddy, who was defeated in Assembly elections, trounced his nearest rival Chandrashekhar Goud of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) by a margin of 39,430 votes.

K. Raghotham Reddy of Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union (PRTU), supported by the Congress, won Karimnagar-Adilabad-Nizamabad-Medak teachers constituency. He defeated former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Paturi Sudhakar Reddy, backed by the TRS.

TRS supported candidate and former MLC P. Ravinder was also defeated in Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal teachers constituency. United Teachers’ Federation (UTF) candidate A. Narsireddy, supported by the Congress and the CPI, won the seat.

Polling for these seats were held on March 22.

Harish Rao absence from Poll campaign

0

Hyderabad: T Harish Rao, former irrigation minister and holder of record majority in Assembly elections held in December 2018, was not included in the Telangana Cabinet. Subsequently, speculation was rife that TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao along with him would contest in Lok Sabha elections. So that, Harish Rao would be helpful to KCR in making Federal Front a success at the Centre.

Contrary to all these expectations, KCR neither included Harish Rao in the Cabinet nor fielded in Lok Sabha elections. This has triggered a question ‘Where’s Harish Rao and what’s he doing now?.

Putting full stop to all the questions, TRS has announced its list of star campaigners including Harish Rao. Interestingly, Harish Rao’s name was not in the earlier list of star campaigners submitted to the Election Commission (EC). In a separate letter to the EC, TRS requested to include Harish Rao’s name in the list of star campaigners replacing Rajya Sabha MP Santhosh Kumar.

TRS’ list of star compaingers has 20 names. Harish Rao is campaigning for Kotha Prabhakar Reddy in Medak Lok Sabha constituency.

The list of 20 star campaigners of TRS include — TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao, working president KT Rama Rao, ministers Mohamood Ali, Indrakaran Reddy, Etala Rajender, Koppula Eshwar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Ch Malla Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, S Nirajana Reddy, V Prashanth Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Over 200 farmers file nominations in Nizamabad LS seat

0

Over 200 farmers have filed nominations in Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana to protest the failure of the state and Central governments to ensure better remunerative process for their produce.

Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha is seeking re-election from the seat.

On the last day of filing of nominations on Monday, dozens of turmeric and red sorghum farmers were seen standing in the queue outside the office of Returning Officer to submit their nomination papers as Independent candidates.

With farmers from various parts of Nizamabad and Jagtiyal districts descending on Nizamabad town to file nominations, police erected barricades, deployed additional force and imposed prohibitory orders around the office of the District Collector.

Some sugarcane farmers also filed the nominations. The farmers said their action was to highlight their demand for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and also to voice their angst over the failure of both the Central and state governments to come to their rescue.

Earlier, P. Raja Reddy, a farmers’ leader, had stated that 1,000 farmers will enter the fray from Nizamabad constituency to lodge their protest.

He said the farmers were demanding MSP of Rs 15,000 per quintal against Rs 5,000 they were getting now. They have long been demanding setting up of a turmeric board in Nizamabad.

The exact number of farmers who submitted their nomination papers will be known later.

Addressing an election rally last week, Chandrashekhar Rao had assured farmers that the government would address their issues.

Earlier, Kavitha said that the TRS raised the demand for setting up National Turmeric Board in Parliament. “We will continue to raise the demand till the Centre comes forward to fulfil it,” she said.

She alleged that Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were provoking farmers to file nominations.

Addressing an election rally, she said 1,000 farmers should file nominations from the Varanasi and Amethi Lok Sabha constituencies from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi are contesting to draw the country’s attention to the problems of farmers, especially with respect to poor remunerative prices.

TRS facing revolt in Peddapalli, Khammam Lok Sabha constituencies

0

Hyderabad: Since TRS has decided to field two new faces in Khammam and Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituencies, the local party cadres are discomfort lot as they still supporting sitting MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in Khammam and former MP Gaddam Vivek in Peddeaplli constituency.

TRS has given B form to Nama Nageshwara Rao, a former TDP MP, within 24 hours of his joining the pink party, for Khammam MP seat, while is fielding Venkatesh Nethakani, who contested in Chennur Assembly constituency on Congress ticket in December 2018, in Peddapalli Lok Sabha constituency.

Expressing protest against TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision, G Vivek has left the pink party. On the other hand, Srinivas Reddy said that TRS will soon realise the reality. After these developments, Peddapalli and Khammam Lok Sabha constituencies have become a point of discussion whether TRS will bag them with considerable majority. The sitting Khammam MP Srinivas Reddy is still in TRS, but raising voice against the party’s decision. Political analysts feel that it will impact Khammam seat more. TRS will have to sweat it out to win Peddapalli constituency as well as Dalit communities have extended their solidarity to Vivek already.

Vivek is son of former union minister and Dalit leader G Venkataswamy and has a considerable chunk of supporters in the constituency. All the supporters of Vivek and Dalit communities are standing by the former MP.

Can TRS repeat Assembly feat in triangular fight in Secunderabad MP seat

0

Hyderabad: Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency is witnessing a triangular competition unlike other MP seats in Telangana. TRS is expected to sweep in majority of Lok Sabha constituencies, but has to face tough fight from BJP and Congress in Secunderabad, observes a political analyst. the Two-time MP Anajan Kumar Yadav is in the fray on Congress ticket, while TRS has fielded Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav, a new comer and son of Talasani Srinivas Yadav. On the other hand BJP has decided to field G Kishan Reddy as it denied ticket to sitting MP and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya.

TRS is confident of clinching the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency from BJP as latest performance in Assembly segments and few years ago its grand victory in the GHMC elections. Moreover, TRS minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has mobilised the support of all the MLAs in the Lok Sabha constituency and brought party cadres together. Above all, Talasani is relying on KCR image to get his son as victorious candidate in Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency. AIMIM is also supporting TRS.

Coming to the saffron party, BJP is relying on Kishan Reddy’s hold in the city and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wave. Sitting MP Bandaru Dattatreya has promised to work for the victory of Kishan Reddy.

The grand-old party in the country Congress is relying on Anjan Kumar Yadav’s local influence and contacts with the voters. Yadav won from this Secunderabad constituency for two terms.

In 2014 elections, BJP candidate Bandaru Dattatreya got 4.38 lakh voters and Anjan Kumar Yadav, TDP alliance candidate, got 1.83 lakh votes. TRS was nowhere near to these two candidates. But, TRS surprisingly emerged as a major force in twincities ever since it shown a splendid performance in GHMC elections after formation of Telangana state. It was further strengthened in the recent Assembly elections.

What brought CPI, CPM together after 20 years of separation?

0

Hyderabad: Both the Communist parties — CPI and CPM– are for the first time contesting together in Telangana and joined forces after 20 years of separation. The Left parties as well as Congress, TDP and TJS tasted a bitter experience in the recent Assembly elections held in December 2018 in Telangana. Last time, CPI and CPM contested together in 1999 elections held in the united AP and since then they’re working separately.

“CPI and CPM high command and senior leaders reviewed their situations and took feedback of party cadres from the gross-root levels. After considering the dismal performance in the Assembly elections in Telangana, the Left parties reviewed their support base and people’s pulse as what factors influencing the most. Both the parties didn’t open their accounts in the recent elections. CPI and CPM learnt a lesson and have decided to join their forces to contest jointly in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana,” said a political analyst.

CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and CPM state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram along with party senior leaders discussed on the future course of action. CPI and CPM have decided to contest in in four Lok Sabha constituencies.

CPM will contest in Khammam and Nalgonda, while CPI will be contesting in Bhongir and Mahabubaad. Howeve, they yet to decide on whom to support in the remaining constituencies.

Veerabhadram has criticised BJP for adopting anti-people politcies. “BJP has failed to generate jobs and moreover, it’s protecting economic offenders,” he said.

Former MP Harsha Kumar says, he will float new party in future

0

Former MP Harsha Kumar used to have strong clout in Godavari districts at one point of time. But now no party is willing to give him a ticket in 2019. However now he made comments that he will float a new political party in future.

Harsha Kumar is former MP from Amalapuram. After bifurcation of the state, like many other Congress party leaders, he also faded away. Even though he got invitation from Congress party to join back into the party, he did not join and he even made comments that he will not get deposit back if he contests from Congress party. Later there were rumours about him joining Janasena party, but that did not materialize. Finally he joined TDP but Chandrababu Naidu did not give him any ticket. He was shocked with the decision of Chandrababu Naidu and there was even news about him contesting as independent. Later, he dropped off his decision of contesting as independent.

Now he criticized all the parties TDP, janasena ,YSR CP , Congress and BJP. He told to his followers that he will float his own party in future. we will have to wait and see if he really floats a new political party

Why BJP denied ticket to Bandaru Dattatreya?

0

Hyderabad: Bandaru Dattatreya, sitting MP from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, was denied party ticket and this has become a talk of the town in the constituency. Instead, BJP is fielding G Kishan Reddy, who lost in Amberpet Assembly constituency in December 2018. Interestingly, BJP has given party ticket to DK Aruna, who just joined BJP from Congress, for Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha constituency.

“May be Dattatreya to get a prominet position in the party. BJP may not set aside a senior leader like Dattatreya,” said a senior BJP leader.

Dattatreya is a senior BJP leader and former union minister as well. Dattatreya is a fourth time MP from Secunderabad and worked and held central portfolios including railways, housing and urban, and labour ministries. Dattatreya was dropped from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet in September 2017.

Though Dattatreya is not a high flying Parliamentarian, he’s been easily accessible and is known for resolving local issues. However, during the suicide episode of Rohit Vemula, a student of University of Hyderabad, in 2016, Dattatreya faced a tough time. Dattatreya was named in the chargesheet on Rohit Vemula’s suicide case.

By dropping Dattatreya from the Modi’s Cabinet, NDA government has no representation from Telangana. BJP had five MLAs in the first-term of Telangana Assembly during 2014-18 and the number reduced to one after Assembly elections held in December 2018 as Raja Singh is the lone BJP MLA representing from Goshamahal constituency in Telangana.

The other three MPs are Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Sitaram Naik. Interestingly, Nama Nageshwara Rao and Venkat Nethakani, who joined TRS on Thursday, got B forms. 5 Telangana woman candidates in Lok Sabha fray

0

Hyderabad: For the first time in Telangana, five woman candidates are in Lok Sabha elections. TRS and BJP are fielding two candidates each, while CPM has given B form to one woman candidate.

With a mission ‘Target-16’ in focus, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has given B forms to two woman candidates in the Lok Sabha constituencies. Among the sitting TRS MPs, Kalvakuntla Kavitha is the lone woman representative from Nizamabad constituency. However, this time, TRS is fielding one more woman candidate in Lok Sabha elections as Malotu Kavitha is contesting from Mahabubabad (ST). CPM is contesting in Khammam and Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituencies. CPM has allocated ticket to Mallu Laxmi for Nalgonda seat.

BJP has given B form to DK Aruna, who defected from Congress, for Mahbubnagar constituency and Nagarkurnool ticket to Bangaru Shruti, daughter of Bangaru Laxman.

TRS supremo faced criticism for not having any woman representation in the first-term Cabinet. For the second-term Telangana Assembly, KCR has begun Cabinet with only one home minister Mahamood Ali. Two months later on February 19, KCR expanded Cabinet with the induction of 10 ministers. Surprisingly, the Cabinet didn’t have KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and any women representation. Brushing aside all the criticism, KCR has hinted that there would be two more woman ministers in the Cabinet soon.

In addition to sitting MP Kavitha, TRS is fielding one more woman candidate Malotu Kavitha in ST reserved Lok Sabh constituency.

Former TDP MP Nama joins TRS

0

Hyderabad: Former TDP MP and senior leader in Khammam has joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the presence of pink party working president KT Rama Rao. Along with Nama, other TDP leaders — TDP state vice-president Swarnakumari, Amarnath, Khammam district president Brahmaiah, Khammam Telugu Yuvatha president Harikrishna and Mancherial district president Sharath Babu — also joined TRS.

“I was the first person to cast first vote for Telangana Bill in the Parliament. I work for strengthening TRS in Khammam district. With an objective of development in Telangana, I have decided to join TRS. I along with my supporters and party cadres will work under KCR leadership,” said Nama.

On the other side, former MLA from Shadnagar Pratap Reddy is expected to join TRS. Reddy already met KTR and discussed on his future course of action. Pratap Reddy won on Congress ticket in 2009 election and lost to TRS candidate Anjaiah Yadav in 2014 elections. This was repeated for Reddy in 2018 elections as well.

It may be recalled that Congress MLA from Kollapur constituency in Nagarkurnool district has already announced his intention to join TRS. He cited the reason for joining TRS to development works. Reddy further clarified that he’s ready to resign as MLA and will contest on TRS ticket. Harshavardhan Reddy lost to TRS candidate Jupalli Krishna Rao in 2014 elections, but won in 2018 elections.

Congress to slap showcause notices on those who defect

0

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is threatening and blackmailing Congress MLAs and this is the prime reason why our MLAs are defecting, TPCC chief Uttamkumar Reddy voices concerns, while cautioning that party will issue showcause notices to those who leave the party. Why should people vote for TRS when KCR failed to get all the assurances mentioned in AP Reorganisation Act0-2014 for Telangana, questions Reddy.

“I question K Chandrashekhar Rao to tell the Telanganites whether he’s CM for only TRS MLAs or entire the state. Our Congress MLAs are under pressure and threat from TRS. That’s the reason, they’re joining TRS. Otherwise, the TRS government wouldn’t sanction any funds and take up any development activity in constituencies represented by Congress MLAs. Further Congress MLA role has been reduced to less than that of a village TRS worker. This situation in the constituency is putting Congress MLAs under pressure,” said Uttamkumar Reddy.

Highlighting the failures of the TRS government, Reddy said that so far assurances such as Kazipet railway coach factory, Bayyaram steel plant, tribal university, ITIR, etc, have not been fulfilled.

“Why should Telanganites vote for TRS. There’s no doubt that Rahul Gandhi will become Prime Minister of India and Congress party will implement reservations for tribals and Muslims on population ratio. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will tour Telangana and spearhead the Lok Sabha election campaign. Congress will bag majority seats of 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana,” maintained Reddy.

TRS hits century as 9th Congress MLA defects

0

The ruling TRS’ tally in the Telangana Assembly reached 100 on Wednesday as another MLA of the main opposition Congress party switched loyalty.

B. Harshvardhan Reddy, who was elected from Kollapur constituency in the recent elections, met Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao and announced that he will soon join the ruling party.

He said he decided to join the TRS in the interest of the development of his constituency. The MLA also said that if necessary he would resign from the Assembly and seek re-election.

Harshvardhan is the ninth Congress MLA to defect to TRS this month. With the latest defection, the Congress tally in the 119-member Assembly has plunged to 10.

With some more Congress MLAs reported to be in touch with TRS leaders, all the defected legislators may request the Assembly Speaker to recognize their merger with the ruling party.

Under Anti-Defection Law, if two-third legislators of a party defect, they will not attract disqualification.

The Congress may even lose the status of main opposition party as it requires 10 percent of the total strength of the House.

With the ninth Congress MLA crossing over to its camp, the TRS strength in the Assembly crossed 100.

In the elections held in December, it bagged 88 seats. A couple of days after the results were announced, an independent MLA and another legislator elected on Forward Bloc ticket joined TRS.

One of the two MLAs of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also joined the TRS early this month. With the 9th MLA switching loyalty, the TRS has hit a century.

Besides 119 elected members, the Telangana Assembly also has a nominated member. The ruling party nominates a leader from the Anglo-Indian community as the legislator.

TRS nominated Elvis Stephenson for a second consecutive term.

Telangana leader Nageswara Rao quits TDP

0

In a major blow to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Telangana, its senior leader and former MP Nama Nageswara Rao resigned from the party on Tuesday.

Nageswara Rao, a member of the TDP’s politburo, the highest decision-making body of the party, was unhappy with the party leadership for some time.

In the recent Assembly elections, he had contested from Khammam constituency as the candidate of the Congress-led People’s Alliance but was defeated.

An industrialist, he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Khammam in 2009. He was then one of the richest MPs in the country with declared assets of Rs 338 crore. In December 2018, his assets stood at Rs 113 crore.

Apparently, feeling that the TDP has no future in Telangana, he decided to quit the party. He had called on Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K. Chandrashekhar Rao a couple of days ago.

He is likely to join the TRS and may contest next month’s Lok Sabha elections on the party ticket from Khammam.

Nageswara Rao is one of the last key leaders of the TDP in Telangana to quit the party.

In the recent elections, the TDP won two seats in the 119-member Assembly with one of the MLAs switching loyalty to the ruling party.

Why red jowar farmers contesting against Nizamabad MP Kavitha?

0

Hyderabad: Unlike any Lok Sabha candidate, Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha is facing a strange situation in her constituency. Several turmeric and red jowar farmers in Nizamabad district have taken nomination papers to contest against sitting TRS MP Kavitha. Alarmingly, this number is over 1,000 farmers, who took nomination papers from Nizamabad district Collector’s office, said an observer.

The farmers in Nizamabad for the past few months have been agitating for minimum support price (MSP) for turmeric and red jowar. They have decided to contest in large numbers as part of their protest against not implementing the MSP. This incident recalls previous similar act as fluorisis victims in Nalgonda district filed over 510 applications in the general elections held in 2014. May be, Nizamabad farmers are taking a cue from this incident.

Nizamabad sitting MP Kavitha is daughter of TRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao and expected to contest from same Lok Sabha constituency. All the farmers have set up Joint Action Commettee (JAC) for taking the MSP issue to the Centre.

“We’re not against any political party. Our objective is to get nation’s attention over our problem. By filing nominations for Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat en masse, we hope to take our problem to the Centre and policy makers of the nation. We’re not intending to contest against any party not any leader. We have been forced to take this decision,” said a leader from JAC.

Why KCR changing campaign strategy?

1

Hyderabad: Unlike his previous speeches, TRS supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has changed his poll campaign strategy and for the first time he played Hindu card. This is totally against KCR’s style of functioning as he always projected himself and his party as secular and Telangana statehood with national patriotism, observed a senior political analyst. May be this is to check BJP vote bank after the recent surgical strikes on Pakistan, he opined.

With an objective of clean sweep in Lok Sabha elections in Telangana by bagging 17 MP seats including one Hyderabad seat by AIMIM, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is targetting BJP and Congress. In his recent public meeting at Karimnagar, KCR criticised BJP as it’s acting as a sole representative of Hinduism, while asserting that there’re no Pakka Hindu than himself. KCR further claimed that no one in the country performed ‘Havans’ than him.

“Playing this Hindu card is nothing, but checking BJP from gaining vote bank in Telangana after surgical strikes on Pakistan. The positive image for BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi across the country is gaining. Observing this, KCR might have said he’s the Pakka Hindu. On the other side, KCR is also attacking Congress, while highlighting that this grand-old party can’t get over 120 seats. If TRS wins 16 MP seats in Telangana, KCR assures mobilising support of 160 MPs at the Centre. By saying so, KCR is assuring Telangana voters to cast their votes for TRS in Lok Sabha polls, while diluting role of BJP and Congress,” explains the analyst.

KCR can’t float national party: Revanth Reddy

0

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress working president Revanth Reddy has ruled out any possibility of floating a national party by TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao. He further said that KCR is trying to deceive people by making false and impossible plans for national political career.

“Telangana chief minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao should explain people on how he’s going to set up a national party and it feasibility. TRS is confined to Telangana and how can he float a national party without any base in any other state not even Andhra Pradesh. This election is going to be between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi only. No other regional party can think of it as almost all the regional parties are either part of Congress or BJP. Particularly, KCR’s Federal Front concept didn’t receive any major response from other regional parties,” said Revanth Reddy.

Revanth Reddy is contesting from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. He further challenged KCR whether can he declare that he wouldn’t seek votes in case he doesn’t set up a national political party.

“KCR claims that he would get 120 Lok Sabha seats. How can it be possible? There’s no regional party, which is ready to make an alliance with KCR. TRS didn’t even announce support to Mamata Benerjee’s recent protest and didn’t participate in the rally held on January 19 in Kolkata. I see very very limited role for TRS in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.”

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy has met Prof Kodandaram, president of Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS). Revanth Reddy has sought Kodandaram’s support in Malakajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.

Former Telangana MLA contesting in AP

0

Hyderabad: In what could be termed as an interesting development in both the Telugu states, a former Telangana MLA is contesting in Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Yes, you read it correct. Sunnam Rajaiah, former MLA from Bhadrachalam Assembly constituency, is contesting on CPM ticket from Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency in East Godavari district.

Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency has become a platform for this interesting contest as former Bhadrachalam MLA is contesting here. Other contestants are Vantala Rajeshwari, who earlier won on YSRCP ticket and joined TDP, on ruling party ticket, Nagulapalli Dhanalaxmi on YSRCP ticket, and Sunnam Rajaiah on CPM ticket are contesting in Rampachodavaram constituency.

Despite several other candidates from different parties are in fray, main competition is among these three candidates only. Rajeshwari is putting in efforts to win once again, while Dnanalaxmi is working to make a debut as MLA in Andhra Pradesh Assembly. On the other hand, Rajaiah, who won three times as MLA, is confident of victory as he’s banking on his track record.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopalakrishna Dwivedi has released election notification for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly constituencies in AP. The CEO AP has further directed all the Collectors to notify the election schedule in all the districts, while alerting returning officers to be ready for receiving nominations.

YSRCP has already announced candidates for all the seats in AP, while TDP is yet to finalise 25 Assembly candidates. Congress so far has not announced any list. Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 11 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Why AICC didn’t approve TPCC’s list of candidates?

0

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) has ignored the list of candidates forwarded by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). This is raising many eyebrows over this as what could be the reason for discontinuing the age-old practice of approving the list putforth by the party’s states committees. The grand-old party’s high command has carried out its own private survey, based on which the list of candidates will be finalised, said a source.

Since AICC has put aside the list of Lok Sabha candidates recommended by TPCC, it’s taking time for announcing the list. The AICC was supposed to announce the list of Lok Sabha candidates on March 15. AICC has not yet taken decision on nine Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. The nine Lok Sabha constituencies are: Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Bhongir, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar and Khammam.

For instance, TPCC has recommended names including Madhu Yashki, Kodanda Reddy, Ponnala Laxmaiah for Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency. But, AICC is thinking of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Bhongir.

For Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency, AICC wants to field TPCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy, whereas TPCC has suggested Komatireddy Venakt Reddy for this slot.

Contrary to TPCC recommendation, AICC has favoured Revant Reddy for Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.

“The main reason for ignoring many recommendations made by TPCC is that AICC has carried out its own survey on potential candidates in every Lok Sabha constituency. Based on this survey report, AICC has arrived to a conclusion that TPCC has picked some wrong candidates. I wouldn’t be surprised if AICC announces candidates, who’re not with the party earlier,” maintained a senior Congress leader.
