Mr Bachchan Debacle: Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar pay back

Mr Bachchan is one of the biggest disasters of Telugu cinema. The film is the remake of Bollywood film Raid and it featured Ravi Teja in the lead role. Harish Shankar is the director of this mass entertainer and Bhagyashri Borse played the lead role. The production house People Media Factory lost big money because of Mr Bachchan. Both Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar have taken big remunerations for the film. Considering the losses incurred, both Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar have returned back their remunerations partially. Ravi Teja has returned back Rs 4 crores and Harish Shankar has returned Rs 2 crores from their pays.

TG Vishwa Prasad, the film’s producer, announced that he would work with Harish Shankar and Ravi Teja again. Harish Shankar during his recent media interaction also promised to do a film for People Media Factory in the future. Ravi Teja is working with the production house again next year and the film will be directed by Bobby Kolli. An announcement is awaited.

TG Vishwa Prasad’s strong words on Raja Saab

People Media Factory is busy with a number of big-budget films. TG Vishwa Prasad has always been keen to complete 100 films in Telugu cinema and this triggered criticism. The production house recently delivered big flops like Mr Bachchan and Manamey. Both these are expensive films and are made beyond the markets of the actors. TG Vishwa Prasad produced Sree Vishnu’s SWAG and during the teaser launch event, he was questioned about the recent disasters. TG Vishwa Prasad was so confident that he said that all the losses would be recovered through Prabhas’ Raja Saab that is scheduled for April 2025 release.

TG Vishwa Prasad also said that they lost big money because of a recent release but Manamey was a safe project. People Media Factory is associated with some of the biggest films like Raja Saab, Goodachari 2, Gopichand Malineni film with Sunny Deol and others. They are also producing films with actors like Gopichand, Sharwanand, Vishwak Sen, Teja Sajja and Ravi Teja in the coming days.

TG Vishwa Prasad’s production house People Media Factory is working on a model to produce over 100 films in a short span. In this process, the production house delivered debacles and received criticism. Mr Bachchan happens to be one of the biggest flops of Telugu cinema in the recent times. The film featuring Ravi Teja was directed by Harish Shankar and is bankrolled by People Media Factory. The film’s producer TG Vishwa Prasad responded about the reasons for the film’s failure and he made sensational remarks on the film’s director Harish Shankar.

“Mr Bachchan is not a bad film. The first half is passable with some good songs. The second half lost the track completely. Harish Shankar’s interviews and press meets did more damage to the film. As the film had no content, we did not promote the film further. Harish Shankar spoke more about the film which was not needed” told TG Vishwa Prasad. Harish Shankar even had an interaction with fans after the release and he was badly criticised. He also gave an interview for a gossip website and this was a misfire. The audience are keeping a track of the statements issued by the directors and actors before the release. These all will count for the film’s success.

TG Vishwa Prasad credited Harish Shankar for the debacle of Mr Bachchan. Vishwa Prasad’s last film Manamey too ended up as a flop. The producer lost big money on these two films. TG Vishwa Prasad is one of the wealthiest persons who settled in the USA. Having his hands in various businesses, he turned a full time producer and he is busy with several Telugu films. During several interviews, Vishwa Prasad admitted that he has a dream of producing 100 films in his career. He seems to be in utter hurry and is not much focused on the scripts and the budget calculations. Considering their productions from 2022, Dhamaka is the only hit for Vishwa Prasad as a solo producer. Films like Bro, Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi, Ramabanam, Eagle, Manamey, Mr Bachchan and others failed badly.

Most of them also left the production house in deep losses. Vishwa Prasad is lining up a heap of films for the next two years. Prabhas’ Raja Saab is the only notable film among the upcoming projects. Coming to Mr Bachchan, the makers could sell off the digital and the music rights. Rest of the rights are unsold. Considering the financials involved and the poor theatrical run, Vishwa Prasad will lose big money and this would impact their upcoming releases Viswam and Swag that are due for release. Vishwa Prasad is lining up one more film with Ravi Teja and he also has Teja Sajja’s Mirai that is planned on a big budget. Vishwa Prasad is co-producing Goodachari 2 and Sunny Deol’s film directed by Gopichand Malineni.

Vishwa Prasad has to recorrect himself as there is a decline in the theatrical and non-theatrical market in the recent months. The digital platforms too are quite choosy and they are not after every film featuring stars. The theatrical risk also falls on the producer as the distributors are not ready to buy films. Producers like Vishwa Prasad who are financially strong should think twice before finalizing new films. He has to learn from his recent failures to touch the milestone mark. Instead of a mad rush, he has to make wise decisions as a producer.

Eagle Was No 2 Then, No 1 Now: TG Vishwa Prasad

The producer states that the content of Eagle will spellbind everyone. “The movie will appeal to large sections of audiences. The story, message, action, and songs will be extraordinary. Ravi Teja will appear in a never-before get-up and character. We are doing consecutive movies with Ravi Teja because of the rapport we share with each other.”

Vishwa Prasad affirms they postponed the movie from Sankranthi keeping the welfare of industry in mind. “In terms of trade, Eagle was second best… But it is now No.1.”

The producer who lauded director Karthik Ghattamaneni for the content and taking is hopeful of the movie to entertain masses and families.

Speaking about Rama Banam, he said the movie will be like a high quality meal. “When Sriwass narrated the script, we were immediately drawn to its quality and family-oriented theme, akin to relishing a high-quality meal. After the success of Lakshyam and Loukyam, Sriwass and Gopichand will score a hat-trick with this film. We supported Rama Banam in all production values, including roping in talented actors like Jagapathi Babu and Khushboo, among others,” he said.

He further said Rama Banam is not just a family entertainer. “The movie is also packed with thrilling action sequences that are sure to delight Gopichand’s fans. I saw the film and I am extremely satisfied wiuth the content. We planned Summer release for the film as this family entertainer packed with action will appeal to all sections of the audience,” he told.
