Took Cinematic Liberty For Keedaa Cola: Tharun Bhascker

Even after delivering two blockbusters, director Tharun Bhascker chose to make his third movie with mostly upcoming actors, besides playing one of the lead roles. While his first movie Pelli Choopulu was a wholesome family entertainer, his second Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi was a youthful entertainer. Keedaa Cola is a unique crime comedy which is his favorite genre.

The director informs the idea of this movie came during the lockdown period when he was having a casual discussion with his friends regarding the routes to earn money. “Keedaa Cola is a unique movie and it will be entertaining all through. We trimmed the movie by 15 minutes, to make the narrative racy.”

The emotions in Pelli Choopulu and Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi looked natural and realistic. “Compared to my previous movies, I took cinematic liberty for Keedaa Cola. Everything in Pelli Choopulu looks logical. There will be gunshots, blasts, etc.”

Tharun Bhascker says the character Naidu played by him is one of his favorite characters written by him.

‘Pelli Choopulu’ director begins work on Telugu crime comedy

Young director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam, best known for his superhits in Telugu, ‘Pelli Choopulu’ and ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi’, has now begun work on his new film, a crime comedy titled ‘Keedaa Cola’.

Produced by Sripad Nandiraj, Saikrishna Gadwal, Upendra Varma, Vivek Sudhanshu and Kaushik Nanduri, the film is slated for a pan-India theatrical release in 2023.

Producer Suresh Babu, heroes Siddharth, Teja Sajja, Nandu and many young directors attended the launch of the film that was held recently and conveyed their best wishes to the film unit.

Shooting for the film, which is going to be released as Production Number 1 under the VG Sainma banner, is to start soon.

Sources say that the unit will make an official announcement regarding the details of the cast and crew of the film shortly.

The makers announced Keedaa Cola as the title of the movie. An insect, a cola cap and blood can be spotted in the title poster. They somehow give hints about nature of the movie. “Experience crime comedy like never before…” reads on the poster.

Tharun Bhascker follows yellow sentiment for this third movie as well. The movie will arrive in cinemas, next year. More details are awaited.

Naga Chaitanya is shooting for Thank You directed by Vikram Kumar and the film is slated for September release. He has promised Venkatesh that he would give the final draft by January. So, this film will only go to the sets early next year. Meanwhile, Venkatesh may start working on the remake of ‘Asuran’.

Two years after the release of Pelli Choopulu, Tharun is back with his second directorial Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi which released on Friday. Pelli Choopulu director Tharun Bhascker has commented harshly on reviewers after his latest offering Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi got below par reviews in some websites. In his Instagram post, he opined that those who write reviews have zero knowledge on various aspects involved in filmmaking.

Requesting audience not to compare this buddy comedy with Pelli Choopulu, Tharun said that he could never satisfy some websites. He added that reviewers are horrible and unqualified to review a movie. He suggested that a review should be given by a person who has atleast done a film appreciation course.

It seems the young director has forgotten how Pelli Choopulu got huge boost due to super positive reviews from all corners. Tharun should bear in mind that it is the rave reviews that have helped Pelli Choopulu emerge as a huge commercial hit despite its low star cast.

His ‘amateurish’ comments on reviews now make one feel that he is getting carried away by the fact that audience and critics are little disappointed with the film which could have been more better on various aspects.

He should also note that Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi garnered to impress some sections of audience and few critics have also rated the film on the scale of 3 out of five for this entertaining factor.
