Allu Arjun to relaunch Allu Sirish

0

Allu Sirish is one actor who has been struggling to deliver a decent hit from the past few years. Though he hails from a big family, the actor’s films have been badly rejected by the Tollywood audience. He has been listening to scripts from some time but he wasn’t impressed with any script. His father Allu Aravind is quite busy launching his own OTT platform and is also occupied with several projects lined up in Geetha Arts. Sirish’s elder brother Allu Venkatesh is all set to make his debut as a producer with Varun Tej’s boxing drama which will roll next year.

It is heard that Stylish Star Allu Arjun took the responsibility to relaunch Allu Sirish next year. Bunny’s team is busy finalizing a script for Sirish and the hunt is on. If things are finalized, the project will start rolling next year and Allu Arjun will personally monitor the happenings right from the script. Allu Sirish is all excited to start his next at the earliest. The actor is on a break after the debacle of ABCD.

ABCD Review : Fails to entertain !

ABCD Movie Review

Telugu360 Rating 2.5/5

Story:

Aravind alias Avi( AlluSirish) is a son of a millionaire NRI ( Nagababu) who migrated to USA 25 years ago. Being a rich kid, Avi spends up to $20K per month which scares his dad. Nagababu sends his son to India to make him understand the value of money, value of hard work. After Avi reaches India, all his credit cards are disabled so that he doesn’t get easy money, also all his USA contacts have been alerted not to send money to him.

Rest of the film is about how Avi and his friend survive the slum life in India. It also deals with how the duo become media celebrities and earn own reputation.

Analysis:

Movie takes off interestingly but fails to build further on the premise. The concept of American born rich desi kid coming to India , without any funds available to spend , sets up ample scope to generate humor but the team has been only partially successful ..That too in first half. In couple of scenes Allu Sirish ,Bharath ( Master Bharath ) are able to generate humor. Entire political thread involving finance minister Subhalekha Sudhakar, his son Raja is a damp squib. Feel good image artist Srinivennla Raja’s selection for a villain role is a miscast, that impacted entire second half. Hero heroine friendship or love track is poorly written.

Vennela Kishore’s ‘ Koffee with Kishore ‘ news reader character has been written around the popular youtube video ‘ Frustrated News reader ‘ and it is hilarious.

Allu Sirish has acted well, in climax scene his speech is impressive. Bharath as hero’s friend is fine as well. Heroine Rukshar Dhillon has limited role, acted okay. Nagababu is adequate as hero’s father. Production values should have been much better. Given the hero’s market, it appears there is a compromise in spending. Director Sanjeev shows some ability to narrate the proceedings interestingly but budget, casting etc. factors restricted the output.

Positives:

  • Hero Allu Sirish shows ease in action

Negatives:

  • Poor Casting, production values
  • Less entertainment
  • Lack of commercial elements

Verdict:

ABCD has a story that is not a run-of-the-mill one. There is little entertainment in first half, which could have been better though. Second half is more story oriented one with no enjoyable moments. Overall, in B C centers this film may find some audience and elsewhere it will be an uphill task to bring audience to the theater with this content.

Will Allu Sirish’s ABCD better ‘Okka Kshanam’ run in overseas

0

Allu Sirish has pinned all hopes on his Summer release ABCD( American Born Confused Desi) which is the official remake of Malayalam film with the same name. Debutant Sanjeev Reddy is its director and Sirish reprised Dulqueer Salman’s role. He will be seen as an NRI who gets into an intricate lifestyle after landing in India.

The teasers and trailers of ABCD received a good response from the audience and set some encouraging buzz on the film. Allu Sirish’s previous film Okka Kshanam performed decently at the overseas box office as it collected more than quarter million ( $ 285K) in its full run. So, it remains to be seen if ABCD strikes a chord with an overseas audience and performs better than Okka Kshanam or not.

As Maharshi didn’t excite audience there and is having a full second weekend in overseas, ABCD has definitely got a good chance to notch up decent numbers if it manages to garner hit talk from premiers.

Allu Sirish disappointed for missing out Geetha Govindam

0

While Allu Aravind’s entire team is delighted with the solid box office success of Geetha Govindam, the latest film of their production house, one person who is little disappointed for missing out on a big opportunity is Allu Sirish. Reportedly, Sirish was very impressed with the story of Geetha Govindam while he came across it during the scripting stages. He desperately wanted to play the lead role in this romantic entertainer.

After directing Allu Sirish in Srirasthu Subhamasthu, director Parasuram promised to do another film for Geetha Arts. So, both Allu Aravindh and Bunny Vas also considered Sirish for this film. However, Parasuram wanted a young and crazy hero who could pull the lead role effortleslessly with impeccable timing. So, the script was finally narrated to Vijay Devarakonda who was fresh from the success of Pelli Choopulu at that time.

Though Sirish missed out on a great chance to bag a decent film in his career, Allu Aravindh and his team are very happy because of the magnitude of the box office success due to the presence of Tollywood’s latest sensation Vijay Devarakonda.

Dismal openings for Okka Kshanam – Lowest ever for Allu Sirish

0

Okka Kshanam had a very poor opening in Telugu States and is lowest ever for the hero. The film had collected a distributor share of 50 to 55 lakhs against the valued theatrical rights of 10cr. Allu Sirish’s previous film’s like Srirastu Subhamastu had collected 1.27 Cr on it’s opening day, Kotha Janta collected over 1cr and even Gouravam was much better with a share of over 60 lakhs. Okka Kshanam day one numbers being less than Gouravam shows how dud they are. The film is carrying mixed reports and it should collect as much as possible by the end of new year’s day as there wont be much after that.

Okka Kshanam Review : Love triumphs destiny

Okka Kshanam Movie Review

Okka Kshanam Movie Review

TELUGU360 RATING 2.75/5

Allu Sirish’s Okka Kshanam has piqued the curiosity of audience with its intriguing trailers. Also, the film had its share of controversies before its release as there were numerous reports in media and industry circles that it is a freemake of a Korean film. Let’s see if Okka Kshanam helps Sirish to up his box office potential.

Story:

Jeeva (Allu Sirish), Jo alias Jyotsna (Surabhi) fall in love at first site, their respective families like the couple too. Frequent visitor to Jo’s upscale apartments, Jeeva along with Jo observe a disgruntled couple who live in opposite flat. Residents of that flat, Swathi (Seerat Kapoor) and Srinivas (Avasarala srinivas) couple, fight with each other on regular basis. As Jeeva starts digging about the couples’ background, he finds striking similarities in the way two pairs’ love story started and progressed. This phenomenon is called Parallel Life as explained by a professor.
Jo is now worrysome girl, anticipates turmoil in her life too similar to Swathi’s life. Worsening Jo’s fear, on an ill-fated night Swati dies suspiciously in her own flat and Swathi’s husband is arrested by police.

Rest of the story is all about disclosing why srinivas couple fight each other, who killed swathi and what are the actions of Jeeva to protect his lover Jo from the clutches of destiny?

Performances:

Allu sirish did well as long as any particular scene projects him as a boy next door. But when it comes to emotional scenes or in dances or in larger than life climax, his performance leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, he is adequate if you watch him without any expectations.

Heroines Surabhi, Seerat Kapoor played their roles well except in few emotional scenes. Especially the emotional depth required from swathi character in those children episodes is missing, the crucial scenes did not evoke any emotions for the same reason. Srinivas Avasarala played swathi’s husband role, he is just OK. This role is not his cup of tea, obviously he is not at his best. Comedians Praveen and Satya got reasonable length roles, they are good. Character artist V. Jayaprakash made a guest appearance as a professor.

Dasari Arun Kumar made a screen appearance after a long time and in antagonist role.

Technical Team:

Music director Manisharma is able to deliver two average tunes for the songs and background score is fine. Shyam K Naidu’s photography is good, fits the crime thriller theme. Chota Prasad’s editing is just average – First and last 30 minutes should have been crisp.

Director VI Anand who delivered Ekkadiki Pothavu chinnavada – a successful thriller in his previous outing, could not repeat the same level of intensity this time. The core point inspired by Parallel Life he designed and executed well but Seerat’s flashback part, Filler scenes in first half and climax episodes could have been better.

Songs :

“So many So many talapule…. “the first song has a good tune, rest of them are forgettable. One wonders how come the lyrics in two of the songs are approved. In first half there is a song which chorus sings “Pichekkutandhi Pichekkutandhi “ , in second half there is another song which lyrics read as “ Gundello soodhulu guchu, kathulu gucchu ..“ – these two give a scope for mockery. In rolling titles, “Dillore” mass number appears

Analysis:

Okka Kshanam film takes off with slow pace, gets better only near Interval and has an engaging interval episode. Continuing the pre-interval momentum, the narration is arresting until 20-25 minutes into the second half. The parallel life concept gives some edge of the seat moments for a brief period. Then onwards the script gone for a toss with routine crime story till the end. At the end, love winning over the destiny is played to the galleries. The parallel life concept is a new dimension for a telugu film, Director VI Anand smartly nativised the Parallel life theme. Had he written Swathi (seerat kapoor) death related flashback episodes convincingly, movie would have been much better. Love Vs Destiny – the film’s tagline is very relevant to the story.

Positives:

  • The core concept of Parallel Life
  • Engaging thriller story before and after interval for 20 minutes each sequence

Negatives:

  • Sluggish start in first half
  • Poor flashback behind Seerat Kapoor death
  • Emotional scenes execution

Verdict:
Okka Kshanam is a partially engaging thriller based on a new concept called Parallel Life. This genre has limited targetted audience, Okka Kshanam at times appeal for them. This film may not bring laurels for Director VI Anand and Hero Allu Sirish but they pass the test with grace marks!
