Suneetha Reddy files a petition in Supreme Court on Avinash Reddy bail

0

Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Friday seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy. She requested the Supreme Court to cancel the bail and allow the CBI to complete the investigation at the earliest.

Avinash Reddy is named Accused 8 by the CBI in the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019. The CBI had arrested the prime accused in the case and had named Avinash Reddy as accused.

Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy was also arrested and is in jail now. The CBI alleged that Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy were behind the murder. The CBI further alleged that Avinash Reddy and his father influenced Yerra Gangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav and Sivashankar Reddy to kill Vivekananda Reddy.

So far the CBI had named Gangi Reddy as A1, Sunil as A2, Umashankar Reddy as A3, Dastagiri as A4, Sivashankar Reddy as A5, Uday Kumar Reddy as A6, Bhaskara Reddy as A7. It was only two days ago the CBI had named Avinash Reddy as A8.

The CBI alleged that Avinash Reddy grew vengeance against Vivekananda Reddy for opposing his candidature for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. The political motive had made him to encourage Gangi Reddy and Sivashankar Reddy to kill Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI said.

The CBI further said that Avinash Reddy tried to destroy evidence at the scene of offence and later tried to influence the Pulivendula police not to book a case on the murder. The CBI also alleged that Avinash Reddy had influenced the local police not to insist on taking Vivekananda Reddy’s body for post-mortem.

However, Avinash Reddy denied these charges and approached the Supreme Court from where he approached the Telangana high court. He got anticipatory bail from the court.

Dr Suneetha Reddy wanted the Supreme Court to cancel the bail. The Supreme Court on Friday took up the petition and posted it to June 13 for hearing.

SC keeps Avinash bail aside, sets June end deadline for CBI

0

The supreme court on Monday set the bail granted to Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy aside in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder. The court, which had earlier set April 24 as time to decide on Avinash bail had kept the Telangana high court order aside and directed the CBI to complete the investigation by June end.

The court bench headed by chief justice D Y Chandrachud asked the CBI to speed up the investigation. The court also said that it would not give any directions to the CBI on arresting Avinash Reddy. It found fault with the Telangana high court for granting anticipatory bail to Avinash Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy filed the petition challenging the anticipatory bail given to Avinash Reddy by the Telangana high court. The supreme court said granting anticipatory bail to an accused would further delay the investigation. “We can’t give contradicting orders. We want the CBI to complete the investigation as per the new deadline,” the supreme court said.

The court also dismissed the plea to give written questions to Avinash Reddy during interrogation. This is not practical, the court observed.

Avinash Reddy is appearing before the CBI officials for questioning on daily basis. The CBI is also recording the questioning.

The CBI had already arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy in the case. The CBI officials have returned Bhaskara Reddy to the Charlapalli Central Prison on Monday after completing the six days of its custody.

CBI grills Kadapa MP for 8 hours in Viveka murder case

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) grilled Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy for about eight hours in former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case on Wednesday.

Avinash Reddy, cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Redddy, left CBI regional office in Hyderabad in the evening. He has been asked to appear again on Thursday.

As per the directions of the Telangana High Court, the MP has to appear daily before the CBI till April 25.

This was the fifth time that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP appeared before the CBI.

The Telangana High Court had on Tuesday directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till April 25.

In its interim order on anticipatory bail petition of the MP, the court directed him to appear before the CBI daily till April 25.

The CBI had summoned Avinash Reddy for questioning on April 17 but the agency twice deferred the questioning due to hearing of his anticipatory bail petition.

The final order on the anticipatory bail plea will be delivered on April 25.

Meanwhile, the CBI also questioned Avinash Reddy’s father Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy and another accused Uday Kumar Reddy for five and a half hours.

A day after a CBI court sent Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy to CBI custody, the central agency took their custody from Chanchalguda Central Jail and after a medical check-up at Osmania General Hospital, brought them to the CBI office.

Bhaskar Reddy was arrested by the CBI on April 16 while his follower Uday Kumar Reddy was arrested on April 14 in Pulivendula town of Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Both were brought to Hyderabad where a court sent them to judicial custody.

It was immediately not clear if Avinash Reddy was questioned in the presence of Bhaskar Reddy and Uday Kumar Reddy.

The CBI officials are believed to have questioned them on the reasons for Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. They were reportedly grilled as to why they propagated that he died of cardiac arrest.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of Jagan Mohan Reddy, was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula on March 15, 2019, a few days before the elections.

The 68-year-old former state minister and former MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him.

The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.

The Supreme Court transferred the case to Hyderabad in November last year after Suneetha Reddy raised doubts about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh.

TS high court tells CBI not to arrest Avinash till April 25

0

The Telangana high court on Tuesday directed the CBI not to arrest Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, till April 25. The court had posted the anticipatory bail petition of Avinash Reddy to April 25 for further hearing.

There was widespread discussion across the two Telugu States that the CBI might arrest Avinash Reddy, who is accused in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. The CBI had already arrested Avinash Reddy’s father Y S Bhaskara Reddy in connection with the case.

Bhaskara Reddy is serving judicial remand in the Chanchalguda Central Jail and the CBI had filed a petition in the court seeking his custody for six days to complete the questioning and interrogation.

Meanwhile, AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy held a meeting with DGP K V Rajendranath Reddy and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on the latest developments. As the situation is tense across the state, particularly in the YSR Kadapa district, the chief minister reviewed the situation.

He also enquired with the DGP whether violence would happen in the state causing law and order problems in case Avinash Reddy is arrested. The chief minister directed the DGP to take necessary steps to prevent any incidents of violence.

The chief minister also reviewed the political situation with YSR Congress general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Sources say that Sajjala briefed the chief minister about the opposition TDP using the CBI investigation in its favour. Sajjala also reportedly told the chief minister that the TDP and other opposition parties were throwing mud on the YSR Congress following an alleged biased investigation by the CBI.

Later, Sajjala told media persons that the new team of the CBI had not found even single evidence in the case. He said that the new team which was constituted by the court was following the old team’s line. “If the team toes the previous team’s line, what is the point in constituting the new team,” Sajjala alleged.

Avinash gets relief from Telangana high court

1

The Telangana high court on Monday gave a relief to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, in the infamous Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. Avinash Reddy filed an anticipatory bail petition in the court following the arrest of his father Y S Bhaskara Reddy in the case.

The court had directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till it completes the hearing on the anticipatory bail petition. The arrest of his father in the case had almost cleared the way for his arrest too in the case. The hearing would come up in the high court on Tuesday afternoon.

The CBI accused Bhaskara Reddy and Avinash Reddy of hatching the plan to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy fearing that the latter would ruin their political prospects. The CBI alleged that Bhaskara Reddy and Avinash Reddy closeted with the prime accused Anil Yadav on the night of Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.

The CBI said that Vivekananda Reddy had opposed Avinash Reddy being given the YSR Congress ticket from Kadapa in the 2019 general election. This had antagonised Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy who finally planned the murder and executed it with the help of others.

However, Avinash Reddy is denying his role in the murder as opposing political prospects cannot be attributed as the reason for the murder. He further said that the CBI is not investigating the case in the right direction. He wondered why the CBI is not questioning Vivekananda Reddy’s son-in-law Rajasekhar Reddy.

Avinash Reddy also alleged that Rajasekhar Reddy was the first person to be informed about the murder, who in turn, failed to inform the police. He wondered why the CBI is not investigating the case from this angle. He also said that a letter was found by the side of Vivekananda Reddy’s body and wondered why the CBI is not investigating on those lines.

CBI defers Kadapa MP’s questioning in Viveka murder case

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has deferred, to Tuesday, the questioning of Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy in Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

When Avinash Reddy reached the CBI regional office in Hyderabad in response to the notice served on him on Sunday, he was informed that the questioning had been postponed to Tuesday.

The CBI has sent a fresh notice to him asking him to appear for questioning at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The central agency is believed to have postponed the questioning on the advice of the Telangana High Court, which was hearing anticipatory bail petition of the MP.

Avinash Reddy was directed to appear before CBI officials at 3 p.m. and he had reached Hyderabad from his native Pulivendula in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

The MP had also filed a petition in the Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail. The court wanted the CBI to postpone the questioning in view of the hearing.

Meanwhile, Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Suneetha Reddy has also filed an impleadment petition in the High Court. She prayed to the court to hear her arguments before pronouncing its judgment.

The MP fears arrest in the case as his father Y.S. Bhaskar Reddy was arrested in the case on Sunday. In its petition seeking custody of Bhaskar Reddy, the CBI has named Avinash Reddy as co-accused.

Bhaskar Reddy, who was arrested in Pulivendula on Sunday, was brought to Hyderabad and produced before a magistrate, who sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. The CBI has also filed a petition seeking his custody for further questioning.

The agency has alleged that Bhaskar Reddy, along with co-accused D. Siva Shankar Reddy, Gangi Reddy, G. Uday Kumar Reddy and Avinash Reddy, played key roles in causing disappearance of evidence from the scene of murder. For the first time, the CBI has named Avinash Reddy as accused in the case.

Avinash Reddy, cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been questioned by the CBI four times during the last couple of months. However, his statements were recorded as a witness.

Following his father’s arrest on Sunday, Avinash Reddy alleged that the CBI ignored some key facts in the case and was treating them as the accused.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of undivided Andhra Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of present Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Pulivendula of Kadapa district on the night of March 15, 2019, a few days before the elections.

The Supreme Court transferred the case to Hyderabad in November last year while observing that doubts raised by Suneetha Reddy about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh were reasonable.

Vivekananda Reddy murder: CBI arrests brother Bhaskar Reddy

0

In a major development in the 2019 murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday arrested his brother Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy.

Bhaskar Reddy is father of Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy and uncle of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI arrested Bhaskar Reddy from his residence at Pulivendula in Kadapa district.

The CBI officials handed over the arrest memo to Bhaskar Reddy’s family and took him into custody.

A large number of Bhaskar Reddy and Avinash Reddy’s supporters had reached their residence.

The CBI was shifting Bhaskar Reddy to Hyderabad where he will be produced before a magistrate by Sunday evening.

Bhaskar Reddy’s arrest came two days after police arrested G. Uday Kumar Reddy, a close follower of Avinash Reddy, the nephew of the deceased who has been questioned by the agency multiple times in recent months.

He was brought to Hyderabad and produced before a CBI court which sent him to judicial custody.

The CBI expedited the pace of investigation after the Supreme Court last week constituted a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the agency and directed it to complete the investigation by April 30.

Bhaskar Reddy is the fifth accused to be arrested in the case. He and his son Avinash Reddy were earlier questioned by the CBI.

Vivekananda Reddy, brother of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and uncle of present Andhra Pradesh Chief Ninister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Pulivendula of Kadapa district on the night of March 15, 2019, a few days before the elections.

The Supreme Court transferred the case to Hyderabad in November last year while observing that doubts raised by Suneetha Reddy about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh were reasonable.

In an affidavit filed in Telangana High Court a few days ago while opposing the bail petition of Sunil Yadav, one of the accused, the CBI had claimed that Avinash Reddy, Bhaskara Reddy and their follower D. Siva Sankar Reddy, hatched a criminal conspiracy to kill Vivekananda Reddy over conflicting political ambitions.

Avinash Reddy and Bhaskar Reddy allegedly had a grouse against Vivekananda Reddy as the latter was opposed to YSRCP fielding Avinash as the party candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. The former minister wanted Jagan Mohan Reddy to field his sister Y. S. Sharmila or mother Y.S. Vijayamma.

The CBI claimed that Rs 40 crore was offered to the other accused to carry out the murder.

The investigating agency also stated in its counter that Vivekananda Reddy was not happy with his brother Bhaskar Reddy and nephew Avinash Reddy as they had sabotaged his chances in MLC election in 2017 in Kadapa.

Avinash and his father wanted Siva Sankar as MLC candidate but when Jagan Mohan Reddy fielded Vivekananda, the trio ensured he was defeated.

Avinash Reddy, who has been questioned by the CBI multiple times in recent months, had denied the allegations and claimed that he and his father were in no way involved.

Avinash Reddy files fresh petition in Viveka case

0

Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, on Monday filed a fresh petition in the Telangana high court seeking direction to the CBI on video and audio recordings of his questioning.

Avinash Reddy told the high court that the CBI had questioned him in its office in Hyderabad on March 13. The entire process was recorded in both audio and video format, Avinash Reddy said. He wanted the court to direct the CBI to give him copies of the audio and video recording.

In another development, Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskara Reddy also filed a petition in the court challenging the Kadapa court’s order considering Dastagiri as approver. Earlier, a similar petition was filed by former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s PA Krishna Reddy.

Both Bhaskara Reddy and Krishna Reddy have challenged the Kadapa district court’s order in the case and freeing Dastagiri from the charges as he had turned as approver in the case.

The high court said that it would take up the two petitions together for hearing on Tuesday afternoon. The court also directed the high court registry to give numbers to the petitions and table them for hearing.

Meanwhile, sources say that Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha is also filing an implead petition challenging Dastagiri being considered as approver. The court is also likely to include her petition and take them up for hearing together.

Jagan rushed to Delhi only to save Avinash, says Varla Ramaiah

0

TDP politburo member, Varla Ramaiah, on Friday felt that Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, rushed to New Delhi only to save his party MP, Avinash Reddy, who is now in the grip of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

What is the need for Jagan to rush to New Delhi when on one hand the Budget session of the State Assembly is on and on the other, he faces total humiliation in the ongoing Legislative Council polls besides there is a complete dissent from the public on the budgetary proposals, Ramaiah asked.

Is it not a fact that the Chief Minister went to Delhi by a chartered flight spending crores of rupees of public money only to save his brother, Avinash Reddy, but not to represent any public issues, the TDP politburo member questioned.

Avinash was sent to Delhi even when the judgement on his appeal not to arrest him is pending before the CBI court only to protect him from the case, Ramaiah felt. “What message are you sending to the public by staying in the same house in New Delhi on Friday morning with Avinash, the prime accused, even when you are being alleged of saving him,” Ramaiah asked.

The TDP politburo member said who will now believe Jagan even if he claims now that he has gone to Delhi to represent the State interests when he was found staying in the same house along with the prime accused in the murder case of his paternal uncle, Vivekananada Reddy.

“How far is it correct when the whole country is raising the slogan of ‘Justice for Viveka’ you (Jagan) left for Delhi with the slogan ‘Save my brother,” Ramaiah asked.

He expressed surprise how Jagan is giving the red signal for the CBI probe into the murder case of his uncle when the Telangana High Court has given a green signal for it. Ramaiah firmly believes that no power on earth can now stop the arrest of Avinash Reddy and the CBI questioning Jagan and his wife in the murder case.

Avinash gets a setback in Telangana high court

0

Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, got a major setback in the Telangana high court on Friday with the court dismissing his petition against the CBI. He had filed a petition in the court to direct the CBI not to arrest him or take serious action against him. The court said that it would not give such directions unless the enquiry is completed.

The court told the CBI to go ahead with its inquiry in the former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The CBI is suspecting the involvement of Avinash Reddy in the murder as he had a clash with Vivekananda Reddy on his political plans.

The court also told Avinash Reddy that it cannot direct the CBI to allow his advocate to be present during the questioning. However, the court told the CBI to record, both audio and video, the entire process of questioning Avinash Reddy.

The CBI also alleged that prime accused Sunil Yadav had spent some time in the house of Avinash Reddy on the night that Vivekananda Reddy was murdered. The CBI said that the presence of Sunil Yadav in his house pointed an accusing finger at Avinash Reddy in the murder.

However, Avinash Reddy alleged that the CBI was investigating in such a way that all fingers were pointed at him. He alleged that the CBI was trying to frame him in the case without investigating in all aspects. There were some loopholes in the CBI investigation, he alleged and said that the CBI was working to please someone against him.

CBI questions Avinash Reddy for four hours

0

The CBI which is investigating the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy had questioned Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy for four hours in Hyderabad on Tuesday. This was the fourth time that the CBI had questioned the MP to establish his involvement in the murder.

The CBI had been pointing an accusing finger at the Kadapa MP, after it shifted the investigation from Kadapa to Hyderabad. The CBI had questioned over 40 people, including suspects, in the murder after which it took the MP to task.

The MP had alleged that the CBI is trying to frame him with false evidence and the investigation was not going in the right direction. The MP had also filed a petition in the court against the CBI investigation.

The Telangana high court had directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash Reddy till the court disposes of the case. The court had completed hearing of the case and had reserved its order.

The CBI filed a petition in the court stating that the political ambition of Avinash Reddy was one of the reasons for the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. The CBI said that Vivekananda Reddy had insisted on the party leadership to give the Kadapa MP seat either to him or to Dr Rajasekhar Reddy’s family members.

But Avinash Reddy had eyed the seat and had conspired along with his father to kill Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI said in its affidavit.

The main charge of the CBI was that the prime accused Sunil Yadav was in the house of Avinash Reddy on the day Vivekananda Reddy was murdered. Sunil Yadav had long discussions with Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy before proceeding to Vivekananda Reddy’s house.

CBI says Avinash destroyed evidence in Viveka murder

0

The CBI on Monday told the Hyderabad high court that Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy’s role in destroying evidence in the murder of Y S Vivekananda Reddy, was not ruled out. The CBI submitted a sealed cover report to the high court on questioning the MP.

The CBI said that it was recording the proceedings of questioning the MP and had submitted some tapes. It also submitted evidence that it had collected from various suspects and witnesses.

The high court reserved its order and directed the CBI not to arrest the MP till the judgment is pronounced. The court also referred to the CBI questioning Avinash Reddy’s father Bhaskar Reddy in the case.

The court questioned the CBI for questioning Bhaskar Reddy in Kadapa when the investigation was shifted to Hyderabad. The CBI told the court that it did not ask Bhaskar Reddy to attend the questioning.

The court took strong exception to the Kadapa MP addressing the media at the CBI office in Hyderabad. The court told Avinash not to address the media as the case is being heard in the high court.

Meanwhile, Avinash Reddy wrote a letter to the CBI seeking exemption from attending to the enquiry on March 14. He told the CBI that the Parliament is in session, and he is attending the Lok Sabha on the scheduled day. Avinash Reddy requested the CBI to give him exemption from attending. However he said he would be available to the CBI at a later date.

MP Avinash Reddy files a petition in TS High Court

1

Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy on Thursday filed a petition in the Telangana high court seeking direction to the CBI to record his answers. Avinash had made similar requests to the CBI in the past to record his answers to their questions during the interrogation.

The CBI had summoned Avinash Reddy twice in the past in relation to the murder of former minister and former MP, Y S Vivekananda Reddy. The CBI found Avinash Reddy guilty of the murder during the course of its investigation.

The CBI had issued fresh notice to Avinash Reddy asking him to come for questioning once again. Avinash Reddy said that there was no evidence to prove his involvement in the murder. The CBI also did not arrest Dastagiri who is an accused in the murder. The CBI also did not oppose the anticipatory bail petition of Dastagiri, the MP said.

He alleged that the CBI was trying to frame charges against him based on the revelations of Dastagiri. He said that he had made several requests to the CBI to allow his advocates to be present during the interrogation. He also wanted the CBI to record the questioning. However, he said that the CBI is not allowing his advocates to be present and was not recording his answers to the officials.

Avinash Reddy alleged that the CBI was targeting him for unknown reasons and wanted judicial protection from him. He also appealed to the Telangana high court to look into the procedures followed by the CBI so far and protect him from being illegally framed in the case.

The Kadapa MP also alleged that the CBI was trying to project him as accused without any base or any witness against him. The investigation is motivated and biased, he alleged and appealed to the court to provide protection to him from the CBI.

CBI grills Avinash Reddy for second day in Viveka murder

2

The CBI officials on Friday questioned Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, for the second time on Friday. He was first questioned in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case on January 27.

The CBI questioned the Kadapa MP for four-and-a-half hours and did not allow him to bring his advocates into the questioning room. The MP said that the CBI did not record the process despite his requests.

The MP said that he had answered all the questions by the CBI. He wanted the CBI to investigate the crime and not to target the people. He said that the CBI did not tell him whether they would call him once again or not.

Avinash Reddy blamed the media for spreading false information targeting him in the case. He wanted the media to restrain from acting as judiciary in the newsrooms.

Meanwhile, the CBI is said to have set its focus on the involvement of the Kadapa MP in Vivekananda Reddy murder. The CBI got a clue that Vivekananda Reddy wanted the Kadapa MP seat from the YSR Congress and had mounted pressure on the family members for the same.

Avinash Reddy too had his eyes on the seat and in the process he hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI said.

However, on Friday, YSR Congress general secretary and government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy discounted the charges against Avinash Reddy and accused the TDP leaders of killing Vivekananda Reddy.

Sajjala alleged that Vivekananda Reddy was killed at the behest of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. He wondered why the CBI is not looking into the role of B Tech Ravi, Adinarayana Reddy and Viveka’s son-in-law Rajasekhar Reddy. Sajjala wanted the CBI to take the data of the mobiles of these three leaders to establish the facts behind Viveka’s murder.

Vivekananda Reddy murder case: Kadapa MP to again appear before CBI

1

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will once again question Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy on Friday as the four-year-old sensational case relating to former Andhra Pradesh minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder is set to enter a crucial phase.

Avinash Reddy, a cousin of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, will appear before the CBI officials in Hyderabad.

This is the second time he will be appearing before the central agency.

Avinash Reddy’s father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy was also summoned by the CBI on Thursday but he has sought more time.

Avinash Reddy will be making an appearance two days after the CBI made startling revelations in the case.

While opposing the bail petition of one of the accused Sunil Yadav, the CBI stated in its counter filed in Telangana High Court on Wednesday that Avinash Reddy, his father Y. S. Bhaskar Reddy and their follower D. Siva Sankar Reddy had hatched a criminal conspiracy to kill Vivekananda Reddy over conflicting political ambitions.

The CBI submitted to the court that the trio used other accused Yerra Gangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav, Dastagiri and others who worked for Vivekananda Reddy to execute the murder plot.

Avinash Reddy and Bhaskar Reddy had a grouse against Vivekananda Reddy as the latter was opposed to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) fielding Avinash as the party candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. The former minister wanted that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y. S. Sharmila or mother Y. S. Vijayamma be fielded.

Vivekananda Reddy was younger brother of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, father of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He was found murdered mysteriously at his residence at Pulivendula in Kadapa district on March 15, 2019, a month ahead of 2019 general elections.

The 68-year-old former state minister and former MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him. He was killed hours before he was to launch YSR Congress Party’s election campaign in Kadapa.

Though three Special Investigation Teams (SITs) conducted the probe, they failed to solve the mystery.

The CBI took over the investigation into the case in 2020 on the direction of Andhra Pradesh High Court while hearing a petition of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunitha Reddy, who raised suspicion about some relatives.

The CBI filed a charge sheet in the murder case on October 26, 2021 and followed it up with a supplementary charge sheet on January 31, 2022

In November last year, the Supreme Court transferred to a CBI court in Hyderabad the trial and probe into the larger conspiracy behind the murder. The apex court observed that doubts raised by Sunitha Reddy about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh were reasonable.

Stepping up the pace of investigation, the CBI on January 28 questioned Avinash Reddy for more than four-and-a-half hours.

On February 3, the CBI questioned Krishna Mohan Reddy, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for the chief minister.

The central agency also quizzed Naveen, who works in the house of the chief minister. The CBI officials questioned the duo for six-and-a-half hours in Kadapa.

They were reportedly questioned about the sequence of events on the day when Vivekananda Reddy was murdered. They collected information about phone calls made or received by them on the day.

Avinash, Bhaskar Reddy did not like Viveka’s politics, says CBI

1

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday said that Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, his father Bhaskara Reddy did not like the politics of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

The CBI filed a counter in the Telangana High Court on Wednesday opposing the bail petition of Vivekananda Reddy murder accused Sunil Yadav.

The CBI said that both Avinash Reddy and his father Bhaskara Reddy had serious differences with Vivekananda Reddy. The CBI said that Vivekananda Reddy wanted to contest the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and wanted a ticket from the YSR Congress.

The CBI also said that Vivekananda Reddy had sought the ticket to Y S Vijayamma or Sharmila if the ticket was not given to him. The demands of Vivekananda Reddy angered both Avinash Reddy and Bhaskara Reddy, the CBI said.

The CBI further said that Avinash Reddy and Bhaskara Reddy conspired to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy to clear the way for Avinash Reddy to contest from the Kadapa Parliament seat. So, they have conspired with Sivashankar Reddy to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI said in its counter.

The task was assigned to Sunil Yadav, who along with other accused, had killed Vivekananda Reddy, the CBI said in the counter. It also said that Sunil Yadav had visited the house of Avinash Reddy and Bhaskara Reddy on the night when Vivekanada Reddy was murdered.

The CBI strongly opposed granting bail to Sunil Yadav fearing that the accused, if granted bail, would influence the witnesses or change the facts to alter the investigation.

0

The CBI on Saturday served yet another notice to Kadapa MP, Y S Avinash Reddy, in connection with former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s mysterious death. The CBI had asked Avinash Reddy to appear before it in Hyderabad on February 24.

Avinash Reddy was questioned by the CBI officials earlier on January 28 in its Hyderabad office in connection with the case.

Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case was handed over to the CBI by the Supreme Court. The case was also shifted to the CBI court in Hyderabad from the local court in Pulivendula. The CBI had shifted the case files from Pulivendula to Hyderabad a month ago.

The CBI had so far questioned 248 persons so far in connection with the case and recorded their evidence. During the course of investigation and interrogation of some suspects, the CBI officials have issued notices to Avinash Reddy.

It is suspected that Avinash Reddy’s involvement is behind the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. It is said that Vivekananda Reddy had opposed fielding of Avinash Reddy from the Kadapa Parliament seat and had asked for his candidature or the candidatures of Y S Vijayamma or Sharmila.

Angered at Vivekananda Reddy opposing his candidature, Avinash Reddy schemed the murder, it was alleged. It is also alleged that Avinash Reddy was silent about several things that happened after the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

Meanwhile, prime accused, Devireddy Sivashankar Reddy is on bail, the other accused are in jail. The CBI court had started regular hearing of the case after it was shifted from Pulivendula court.

CBI serves fresh notice on Kadapa MP in Vivekananda murder case

1

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has again served notice to Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy, directing him to appear before it on January 28 for questioning in his uncle and former Andhra Pradesh minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.

Avinash Reddy, a cousin of Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been asked to appear before CBI officials in Hyderabad at 11 a.m. on January 28.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP was earlier directed to appear on January 24. He, however, had conveyed his inability to appear on the day due to his busy schedule in Pulivendula and has sought another day.

In a letter to CBI, the MP had assured full cooperation in the investigation. He had said on Tuesday that due to pre-scheduled programmes, he had sought four to five days time to appear before the CBI. “I am prepared to answer any questions they may ask. The next time they serve notices to me, I shall present myself before the CBI for questioning,” he had said.

The Lok Sabha member said during the last two-and-half years there had been attempts for his character assassination by linking him and all those close to him with the Viveka murder case. He alleged that a section of the media hell-bent on spreading false propaganda against him. He hoped that truth would eventually prevail in the case.

Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Kadapa on March 15, 2019, a few days before the election.

The 68-year-old former state minister and former MP was alone at his house when unidentified persons barged in and killed him. He was killed hours before he was to launch YSR Congress Party’s election campaign in Kadapa.

Though three Special Investigation Teams (SITs) conducted the probe they failed to solve the mystery.

In November, 2022, the Supreme Court transferred to a CBI court in Hyderabad the trial and probe into the larger conspiracy behind the murder. The apex court observed that doubts raised by Sunitha Reddy about getting a fair trial and investigation in Andhra Pradesh were reasonable.
