Kavitha Walks Out of Jail, Emotional Reunion with Family

0

K. Kavitha burst into emotion after being released from jail. She hugged her elder son and broke down in tears. She then met her husband Anil, brother KTR, and Harish Rao. Kavitha had spent five and a half months in jail for her alleged involvement in the Delhi liquor policy case. She thanked all her supporters who came to welcome her.

At the same time, Kavitha warned that she would “pay back with interest” those who made allegations against her and were responsible for her imprisonment. Kavitha declared herself a “resolute and stubborn child of KCR.” She maintained her innocence, stating she had done no wrong and was kept in jail unnecessarily.

Five months after her arrest, the Supreme Court granted conditional bail to Kavitha. She had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor policy. Following Manish Sisodia’s bail, there was increased hope for Kavitha’s release as well.

In a related development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal remains in custody in connection with the same case.

Top Lawyers on Board for Kavitha’s Bail Plea; Hearing Postponed

0

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, has been in jail for the past few months after her arrest in the Delhi Liquor Scam case. On Raksha Bandhan, Kavitha’s brother KTR expressed emotional support and confidence in her imminent release. Despite several rejections of her bail petition by various courts, her plea was due for a Supreme Court hearing today. However, the case has been postponed to Tuesday.

According to the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) primary investigation, Kavitha allegedly played a crucial role in the Delhi Liquor Scam. She has been lodged in Tihar jail for approximately 150 days.

Recently, Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was granted bail on grounds of personal liberty after months of imprisonment. Kavitha’s legal team is pursuing a similar argument, emphasizing her status as an MLC and a woman.

Former Attorney General of India and senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi is representing Kavitha in the Supreme Court. KTR and Rohatgi have reportedly discussed various strategies for Kavitha’s bail plea.

The ED and CBI have filed cases against Kavitha, and the bail pleas for both cases will now be heard on Tuesday by a bench comprising Justices Gavai and Vishwanathan. This same bench previously denied Kavitha’s bail request. BRS party supporters, who were anxiously awaiting today’s decision, must now wait until Tuesday for the court’s ruling.

An advocate of Kavitha case has informed the media that, “CBI has filed a counter yesterday, the court was very serious on the prosecution for filing the counter and they have come with a new plea, that they need time and court allowed filing counter before Friday and ordered for final prosecution for Tuesday.” Kavitha’s lawyer hopes that she gets bail on Tuesday’s hearing.

Kavitha’s Close Aide Gets Bail

0

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of India granted interim bail to Kavitha’s close aide, Hyderabad-based businessman Abhishek Boinapally, who is alleged to have links to the Delhi excise policy case.

Kapil Sibal, advocate for Abhishek Boinapally, said that the petitioner was arrested in October 2022. He referred to AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s bail. Abhishek has been on interim bail since March 5th, considering his wife’s health condition, who is suffering from various ailments.

The Supreme Court has noted that Abhishek was in jail for 18 months and directed him to be on interim bail for five weeks. But since then, Boinapally has been out on interim bail. He challenged the Delhi High Court order on July 3rd, 2023, questioning the legality of his arrest in 2022.

The Apex court has now granted bail and asked Abhishek to surrender his passport and not to leave the National Capital Region (NCR) except for his visits to Hyderabad.

It is claimed by ED and CBI that he was involved in the meetings and was also involved in a conspiracy to launder money.

Bad time continuing for Kalvakuntla Kavita:

0

BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavita’s judicial remand has been extended up to August 13 in the Delhi Liquor Policy case, by the trial Court.

On the other hand, CBI case hearing in the same Delhi Liquor Policy Scam has been postponed. While Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) presented Kalvakuntla Kavita virtually for the case hearing at Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday, Judge postponed the case hearing to August 9.

However the reason for postponement is a request by Kavita’s advocate. BRS MLC’s advocate requested more time from Judge to go through the chargesheet filed by CBI in the case.

Kalvakuntla Kavita, the daughter of Telangana former CM KCR has been languishing in jail in the Delhi Liquor Policy case for over four months now. Even Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is also facing the same fate.

Kavita’s bail pleas have been rejected multiple times, pointing out to a bleak future for the woman lawmaker hailing from Telangana. It is believed that BRS top leadership is leaving no stone unturned to get Kavita out of jail, but their efforts are going in vain.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar releases alleged WhatsApp chats with K. Kavitha, Satyendar Jain

0

Alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar has made public his alleged WhatsApp chats with jailed AAP leader Satyendar Jain and K. Kavitha, BRS leader and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Presently lodged at the Mandoli Jail in the national capital, Chandrashekhar is accused of extorting Rs 200 crore from a businessman’s wife.

In the purported conversations released on Wednesday, Chandrashekhar alleges that there is a connection between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and the BRS leader with regard to the Delhi excise policy scam.

In a letter directed to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, Chandrashekhar has accused AAP and Kejriwal of having multiple contracts and business deals with him.

He wrote, “This very application and attached chats expose the link between the Aam Aadmi party, Arvind Kejriwal and BRS leader K. Kavitha, who are involved in the Delhi liquor scam.”

The allegations levelled by Chandrashekhar have raised concerns about the role of political leaders in the liquor policy scam. Further inquiries will likely provide additional insights into the mater.

Chandrashekhar in his letter stated that the very application and chats attached show the nexus between the Aam Aadmi party, Arvind Kejriwal and Kavitha, who are allegedly involved in the Delhi liquor policy scam.

According to Chandrashekhar, the chats submitted to the L-G will aid the ongoing investigation into the liquor scam.

“The said chats are with regard to Rs 15 crore given by me to Arvind kejriwal and Satyendar Jain which was asked to be delivered to K. Kavitha of the BRS in Hyderabad,” said the letter released through his legal counsel Anant Malik.

According to the screenshots of the alleged chats, it is evident that Chandrashekhar had a coded conversation with a person whose number was saved as ‘Kavita Akka TRS’.

In one of the messages, the sender wrote, “AK bro package has to be given. It’s ready with me.”

Chandrashekhar alleged that this package refers to an amount of Rs 15 crore.

In another chat with a mobile number not saved on his phone, and claimed to be of Satyendar Jain, one of the messages read, “Bro Ghee tin ready. Yes bro 15 Kg.”

Chandrashekhar claimed that in their code words, ‘ghee’ refers to money and 15 kg meant Rs 15 crore.

He also wrote “inform big bro” in the same chat, to which the receiver replied, “AK Bhai knows”.

Kavitha returns to Hyderabad, meets father KCR

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday returned from Delhi and drove straight to the residence of her father and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao where she was understood to have briefed him on questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi excise policy case.

Accompanied by her husband D. Anil Kumar, brother and minister K.T. Rama Rao, cousin and minister T. Harish Rao, Kavitha reached Pragati Bhavan.

While the family members came together to celebrate Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, Kavitha reportedly also briefed her father about the questioning by the ED in the national capital on March 20 and 21.

The BRS legislator is understood to have explained to her father what happened in Delhi during the last three days, the kind of questions asked by the ED and her replies to them.

Chief Minister KCR, Kavitha, KTR and Harish Rao also believed to have discussed the strategy on how to counter the BJP which they believe is using investigating agencies for political mileage.

As Kavitha’s petition challenging the ED summons is coming up for hearing on March 24, the meeting also reportedly discussed the arguments to be put forward during the hearing.

The possibility of ED summoning her again for questioning was discussed by the BRS leaders.

KCR was reported to be closely monitoring the developments in Delhi.

He had sent KTR, Harish Rao and other leaders to the national capital to stand by her.

Kavitha was first summoned by the ED in Delhi liquor scam to appear on March 9.

However, she had requested the ED to defer questioning citing a one-day hunger strike announced by her on March 10 in the national capital over the delay in passing the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Parliament.

The ED had issued fresh summons asking her to appear on March 11.

She was grilled for nine hours on March 11. The agency again issued summons to Kavitha to appear on March 16, but she skipped the hearing citing her pending petition in Supreme Court against the ED’s summons till March 24.

The same day, ED issued fresh summons to Kavitha asking her to appear before them on March 20. On March 20, the ED quizzed her for over 10 hours. The agency asked her to appear again on March 21.

She was again questioned for 10 hours at ED office in Delhi on March 21. There was no clarity on the date of her next appearance as the ED is yet to issue summons.

K. Kavitha writes to ED, raises right to privacy issues

0

BRS MLC K. Kavitha has written a letter to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam case, raising right to privacy issues.

The letter has been accessed by the IANS in which Kavitha, who is the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has also accused the ED for deliberate leakage of false accusation of destruction of cell phones which led her opponent to defame her and her party.

“I am today submitting before your good self all the earlier phones that I may have used in the past, and as sought by you, which I could gather. These phones are submitted without prejudice to my right and contentions and larger contention whether a women’s phone can be intruded, in the teeth of her right to privacy,” the letter reads.

She further wrote that it was baffling to note as to how, why, and under what circumstances agency made such allegation, when she was not even summoned or asked any questions whatsoever.

“For the record, the first time I was called by the agency was in the month of March 2023, therefore I have reasons to believe, that accusation made against me in November 2022 were not only malafide, misconceived, but also prejudicial. The deliberate leakage of the false accusation to the public has led to a political slugfest, wherein my political adversaries have been flaunting the accusations, to accuse me of destroying the so-called evidence, and indulging in causing great harm to my reputation, and attempting to defame me, my political party as well as to lower my image in the eyes of the public at large,” Kavitha added.

She accused the ED was becoming a privy and party to these acts and sabotaging and sacrificing its sacrosanct duty of free and fair investigation at the altar of vested political interest.

“I therefore, hereby tender all these phones so as to dispel of any notion or adverse impression that the agency is trying to create,” the MLC added.

Delhi Excise policy scam: K. Kavitha joins ED for 3rd round of questioning

K. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Tuesday appeared before Enforcement Directorate (ED) here for the third round of questioning in connection with the Delhi Excise policy scam.

Upon arriving at the ED office, Kavitha showed to media mobile phones which the ED said had been destroyed to wipe out evidence.

The probe agency had accused her of changing ten cell phones during excise policy matter. It wanted to know and retrieve data from these cell phones.

On Monday, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) MLA was almost grilled for ten hours during her second round of questioning in which she was confronted with Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai and few documentary evidence.

Kavitha had earlier refused to join the probe at ED office but was ready to answer through emails and at her home. Later, she changed her mind and joined the probe.

During her first appearance, she was reportedly confronted with Arun Pillai, who had represented the South Group which allegedly gave kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders allegedly used during the Goa Assembly polls.

Pillai has reportedly said that he was Kavitha’s associate.

On Wednesday, the ED recorded the statement of Buchchi Babu, the BRS MLC’s former auditor and also a member of the South Group.

Kavitha has maintained that she has never met former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who has been arrested by the CBI and the ED in connection with the case, claiming that her name was being unnecessarily dragged into the matter.

According to the ED, Kavitha is also one of the representatives of South Group in the excise policy case.

BRS MLC K. Kavitha is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in connection with the central agency’s probe into the Delhi Excise Policy scam case.

This will be her second appearance before the ED after she was grilled earlier on March 11.

Before joining the probe on Thursday, Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, will also hold a press meet at her home in the national capital.

A woman deputy director level official will record her testimony under section 50 of the PMLA.

During her first appearance, she was reportedly confronted with Hyderabad-based businessman Arun Pillai, who had represented the South Group which allegedly gave kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders allegedly used during the Goa Assembly polls.

There are possibilities that the central agency might confront Kavitha on Thursday with Buchchi Babu, according to sources.

ED to record testimony of K Kavitha on March 11

1

K Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, is likely to join the probe of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam on March 11.

She was summoned to join the probe on Thursday, but she wrote a letter seeking more time after which the ED decided to question her on March 11.

Kavitha is one of the representatives of the South Group in the Delhi excise scam which allegedly resulted in kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders.

ED summons Kavitha in Delhi liquor scam

0

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday issued notices to BRS MLC and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha asking her to appear before it in Delhi on Thursday. Kavitha was earlier questioned by the ED officials at her Hyderabad house on December 11, last year. She was questioned for seven long hours on the scam.

The ED had already arrested Hyderabad-based businessman Ramachandra Pillai and informed the Delhi CBI court that Pillai has direct contact with Kavitha. The ED further said that Kavitha is a partner in the Indospirits firm and Pillai represents her in the company which was paid Rs 100 crore kickbacks.

Meanwhile, Kavitha said that she is already busy with different engagements and would not be able to attend the ED questioning. Kavitha said that she would be participating in a day-long protest in Delhi seeking a women reservation bill and would not be available for the ED.

She alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was haunting the political rivals. She said that the ED and CBI cases would not deter KCR’s daughter from public life. She said that the BJP was targeting the political rivals to cover up its failures.

Kavitha left Hyderabad for Delhi on Wednesday evening to join the day-long protest at Jantar Mantar. Women activists of various non-BJP parties are participating in the protest in Delhi for the women reservation bill.

However, it is not known whether Kavitha would visit the ED office and attend the questioning or would seek more time. Initially, she had written a letter to the ED seeking more time and expressing her inability to attend the questioning on Thursday.

It is to be seen what she would do once she reaches the national capital. It is also to be seen what would the ED do on Kavitha’s request seeking more time.

BRS will play crucial role in Maharashtra’s development: Kavitha

1

Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Telangana and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Kavitha has said her party will play a crucial role in the development of Maharashtra.

The BRS MLC, who is in Mumbai to attend various programmes, offered floral tributes on Saturday to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Mumbai.

Stating that Telangana’s welfare and development programmes were being discussed across the country, Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, said people in Maharashtra were demanding replication of Telangana’s welfare programmes in their state.

Speaking to the media, Kavitha said different sections of people in Maharashtra were appealing to expand the BRS’ operations in the state.

Pointing out that though Telangana and Maharashtra share a nearly 1,000 km long border, there is a lot of difference in terms of welfare and development programmes being implemented in the two states.

She cited the example of Hyderabad, where drinking water was being supplied round the clock while drinking water was being supplied in Mumbai for only two hours a day.

“If the Telangana government could supply drinking water to every household across the state, why cannot the Maharashtra government implement such a programme?” she questioned.

Since Independence, the provision of basic amenities like drinking water and power for households, has still been a challenge in many states in the country.

But Telangana, the youngest state in the country, had addressed these issues by nearly 98 per cent, she said, adding that the BRS party would fight for such people-centric issues.

BRS would play a crucial role in the comprehensive development of Maharashtra, she said.

On the possibilities of contesting elections in Maharastra, she said the party would make an announcement in this regard.

Reiterating her party’s demand for a JPC probe into the Hindenburg report on the Adani Group, Kavita wondered “why central agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate and the Reserve Bank of India were silent on this matter”.

Modi government is anti-farmer, says Kavitha

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Telangana Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K. Kavitha on Thursday dubbed Narendra Modi government “anti-farmer” and “anti-poor”.

She alleged that Prime Minister Modi not only failed to bring back black money but allowed corporates loot the country of more than Rs 19 lakh crore in broad daylight. She said the money should be brought back along with the “Looteras”.

Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was talking to reporters in Nizamabad.

“Today it is a fact that the BJP is an anti-farmer, anti-poor, and a pro-corporate government. On one hand, the government is targeting farmers and the poor, taxing necessities like milk, and curd, and is unable to control inflation, on the other hand, the government has written off Rs 19.40 lakh crore loans of corporates… almost equivalent to one year budget of our country,” she said.

“Chowkidars were sleeping when corporate were looting and fleeing the country,” she remarked.

Kavitha slammed Modi government for issuing notice to the Telangana government asking it to return Rs 152 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) which was spent on constructing agri drying platforms.

She announced that the BRS will organise protests in all district headquarters against anti-farmer policies of the Centre.

She reiterated the demand for integration of agriculture with MGNREGS and said this wouldl bring down the cost of agriculture and increase the profit of farmers.

Kavitha said her party always stood for farmers and now the BRS will take this vision and mission forward. She claimed that entire BRS stands with the farmers and poor people of the country. She advised the BJP to also think of pro-people policies and especially for the farmers.

CBI to question Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Dec 11

1

TRS MLC and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha had finally zeroed in on attending the questioning of the CBI on December 11. The CBI had accepted her request to fix any date from December 11 to 15.

The CBI sleuths would meet her at her residence in Hyderabad on December 11 and pose the questions connected to the liquor scam and her involvement in the scam.

Kavitha was initially asked to be available for the CBI on December 6 either in Hyderabad or Delhi. However, Kavitha wrote back to the CBI stating that she is preoccupied with other engagements and requested the CBI to give her another date.

Accordingly, the CBI had summoned Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. The CBI said that during the course of investigation, her name had come up with a link to the scam. The CBI wanted the MLC to attend the questioning to clear the doubts.

However, Kavitha had refuted the CBI charges linking her name to the liquor scam. She alleged that the ruling BJP was trying to implicate her in the liquor scam due to political vendetta. She claimed that the BJP started targeting the leaders of the political parties as the TRS had been exposing the BJP’s failures.

While the TRS MLC alleged that the BJP leadership is victimising the opposition leaders for political advantage, the BJP leaders have turned down her allegation. The BJP leaders are accusing her of involvement in corruption, particularly the liquor scam in Delhi.

Kavitha, who is daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, clarified that she has not received any notice.

She tweeted that the media is being misled by the “malicious propaganda of people sitting in Delhi”. “I request all the media houses to rather utilize your time in showing the truth. KCR’s daughter hits back at Telangana Governor

1

Hitting back at Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha alleged on Thursday that the office of the governor has turned into a political stage to defame the state government and the chief minister.

“The office of Governor of Telangana has turned into a political stage that is determined to defame the TRS govt and CM KCR garu,” tweeted Kavitha hours after Tamilisai attacked the state government for “humiliating” her.

“The statements of Hon’ble Governor come at a time when they realised that the BJP driven smear campaigns can’t con the people of Telangana,” wrote Kavitha, a member of Telangana Legislative Council.

On completion of three years in office, the governor addressed a news conference at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, launching an attack on the chief minister and the state government.

She alleged that the state government is discriminating against a woman governor by not following the protocol.

She said she was even denied the opportunity to unfurl the national flag on Republic Day or deliver her speech.

She alleged that hurdles were being created in her efforts to reach out to people. She also criticized Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not visiting Raj Bhavan despite her invitations.

“It will go down in the history of Telangana, how a woman governor was treated,” she said.

State ministers have also hit back at the governor for her comments saying her conduct was not befitting of a person holding the post of governor.

Minister for Panchayat Raj E. Dayakar Rao urged Tamilisai to show dignity and decorum as the state’s governor.

He alleged that she was acting like a BJP worker and holding talks with BJP leaders.

The minister also remarked that Tamilisai was not getting the respect as she was denigrating the office of governor, adding that Telangana treated Governor Tamilisai as its own daughter but she was working under the direction of the BJP.

Hyderabad court issues notice to BJP leaders on Kavitha’s defamation suit

0

A Hyderabad court on Wednesday issued notices to BJP MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa in a defamation case filed by TRS lawmaker K. Kavitha.

The two BJP leaders had made allegations linking Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, to the alleged multi-crore Delhi liquor scam.

The city civil court, in an interim order, directed the BJP leaders not to make any defamatory statements against Kavitha either on print, electronic and social media or any other medium.

Hearing the the petition, the 9th Additional Chief Civil Judge issued notice and adjourned the hearing to September 13.

Kavitha, a member of Telangana Legislative Council, on Monday announced filing of defamation suit against two BJP leaders.

The former MP sought an injunction order against those making the allegations.

The BJP leaders had alleged on Sunday that she played a crucial role in a liquor policy scam involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already filed a case against Sisodia and others accusing them of indulging in financial irregularities in executing the new liquor policy for the national capital.

Sirsa alleged on Sunday that Kavitha facilitated meetings at the Oberoi Hotel and brought liquor barons from the south.

Kavitha termed the allegations “completely baseless”. Stating that the BJP government has all agencies in their hands, she said they can do whatever investigations required and she would completely cooperate.

She claimed that BJP was trying to tarnish the reputation of KCR’s family by making baseless allegations as he had been vocal in criticising policies of the BJP government.

KCR’s daughter to file defamation suit against BJP leaders

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and state legislator K. Kavitha on Monday announced that she will file defamation suit against two BJP leaders for their allegation that she was involved in the multi-crore liquor policy scam in Delhi.

Kavitha, a member of Telangana Legislative Council, said the defamation suit will be filed against BJP MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

The former MP will also move court seeking an injunction order against those making the allegations.

This came a day after the two BJP leaders alleged that she played a crucial role in a liquor policy scam involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already filed a case against Sisodia and others including Hyderabad-based Arun Ramachandran Pillai, accusing them of indulging in financial irregularities in executing the new liquor policy for the national capital.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa alleged on Sunday that Kavitha facilitated the meetings at the Oberoi Hotel and brought liquor barons from the south.

Kavitha termed the allegations “completely baseless”. “Today, I want to make it clear that allegations made against me by the BJP and their leaders are completely baseless. Allegations will certainly remain allegations,” she said.

Stating that the BJP government has all agencies in their hands, she said they can do whatever investigations required and she would completely cooperate.

Kavitha claimed that the BJP was trying to tarnish the reputation of chief minister KCR’s family by making baseless allegations.

“I want to say in front of the nation that my leader honourable KCR garu who is chief minister of Telangana has been very vocal and has been very sharp in criticising policies of the BJP government. I believe we believe and the people of Telangana believe that, rattled by the allegations made by the CM, the BJP is trying to malign the reputation of our family,” she said.

Stating that they are the family of fighters who fought for Telangana and were on the streets and were with people, she said BJP wanted to put them down by throwing some baseless allegations.

“They will just remain baseless allegations. Nothing is going to come out of it. Today you are in power, you want to use agencies, want to use the media and use everything possible to curtail the voice of opposition. I am so sorry you are messing with the wrong people,” she added.

Kavitha appeals to SC to intervene in Bilkis Bano case

Terming the release of 11 convicts in Bilkis Bano rape case by the Gujarat government as shameful, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K. Kavitha on Thursday appealed to the Supreme Court to intervene and take immediate action.

The member of Telangana Legislative Council said the decision to release the culprits of heinous crimes like rape and murder on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day has tarnished the divinity of the day.

The former MP said the shameful decision must be withdrawn immediately so that citizens don’t lose their faith in law and there are no more cases like the Nirbhaya case and no lady has to go through what Bilkis Bano suffered.

The BJP government in Gujarat on Monday released all the 11 people convicted for the rape of a pregnant Bilkis Bano and murder of seven of her family members during the 2002 Gujarat riots, under its remission policy

“This has taken place despite the fact that the Central government has sent guidelines that explicitly mentioned that rapists and prisoners with life sentences should not be pardoned,” said Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

She stated that the BJP government in Gujarat has displayed insensitivity by releasing the rapists of the then five-month pregnant Bilkis Bano and the murder of her 3-year-old child. This is not only against the law but stands against humanity.

“Being a woman I can feel the pain and fear experienced by Bilkis Bano. The welcome shown to the rapists and murderers after getting released from jail by some people who follow a certain ideology is a slap on the face of a just society. It is imperative to stop this extremely dangerous tradition before it takes the form of a legacy,” the MLC said.

Kavitha’s brother and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervene and rescind the Gujarat government’s order.

“If you had really meant what you spoke about respecting women, urge you to intervene and rescind the Gujarat Govt remission order releasing 11 Rapists,” tweeted Rama Rao.

He was referring to the Prime Minister’s speech on Independence Day.
