Has KTR convinced Azharuddin to join TRS?

0

Former cricket captain MD Azharuddin won and got elected as the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. Most of his panel members got elected. There are reports that this could be possible for the cricketer only because the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) gave him secret and all out support. Minister KT Rama Rao has played a key role in Azhar victory behind the scenes.

This has triggered speculation whether the cricketer would leave the Congress party and join TRS. In fact, KTR has long been trying to bring Azhar into his party hold. In the last election, the cricketer wae expected to change party but that didn’t happen finally.

Analysts say that the Congress Telangana unit is getting into deeper crisis each day by losing its political base. The BJP is emerging as immediate alternative to TRS. In this backdrop, Azhar is considering TRS as the better choice for his future political career.

Telangana house against uranium mining in Nallamalla jungle

0

The Telangana Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution, urging the Centre not to permit uranium mining in Nallamalla forests.

An official resolution moved by Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao was passed by a voice vote.

“This House unanimously resolves to request the government of India not to permit or allow mining operations uranium in Nallamalla forests of Telangana state,” read the resolution.

Rama Rao said the Centre should withdraw any proposal to take up mining in Nallamalla forests as this would harm the environment and endanger the region’s rich bio-diversity.

The minister said the radiation from uranium will not only contaminate soil and crops but also air and water.

He said uranium mining would destroy the pristine forests known as the habitat of tigers and many other wild animals. He pointed out that Chenchus and other tribal communities dwell in the forests and it also houses key projects built across Krishna river.

The resolution was passed a day after Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao made it clear in the Assembly that the government has neither allowed uranium mining in the forests nor will allow it in future.

Responding to the apprehensions express by the opposition and the concern voiced by various sections of the society, Rao said his government will not allow destruction of Nallamalla forests at any cost.

He recalled that it was in 2009 that then Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh allowed uranium exploration. He pointed out that in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, uranium mining has also begun.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, said uranium mining could contaminate water in key projects like Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and Pulichintala across Krishna river and destroy the delta area under it. He said this could also impact water supply to Hyderabad.

He also told the House that if the Centre tries to put pressure over the issue, “we will fight unitedly”.

No permission to uranium mining: KTR

0

KCR’s son and Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao is trying hard to put a full stop to the ongoing social media agitation against alleged uranium mining in Nallamala forests in Mahabubnagar district. He says that the TRS will not give permission to the mining under any circumstances. What is currently going on is just search by geologists in the hill forests. The search is taken up under the Central Government departments. No mining has begun anywhere in the state.

KTR’s clarifications came amid rising wave of protests from all sections of Telugu states. Celebrities’ support and Twitter messages have further intensified the ‘Save Nallamala’ from the radiation that may be caused in future. Star heroine Samantha, Heroes Ram, Devarakonda Vijay, Tanikella Bharani and others have expressed their total support to the anti-uranium agitation.

The fears of the common public are that uranium exploration may lead to radiation and pollution of the waters in the Krishna river which is central to drinking water needs of both Telugu states. The uranium deposits are said to be present in Nallamala forests spread over Kurnool, Kadapa, Prakasam, Guntur and Mahabubnagar districts.

No funds received from Centre for Hyderabad ITIR: KTR

0

The Centre has not sanctioned a single rupee for creating Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad, Telangana’s IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Saturday.

Rama Rao told the state Assembly that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government did not provide any assistance for the project sanctioned by the earlier United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-II government.

He said despite repeated requests during the meetings with then IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and also several letters sent by the state, the Centre did not provide any funds.

Rama Rao pointed out that Prasad went to the extent of saying that the government has shelved ITIRs.

He recalled that UPA-II government just before the end of its tenure had announced setting up of five ITIRs including one each in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He said then government did not provide any funds for the project.

He rubbished the allegations by the opposition that the state government did not provide requisite information to the Centre and this resulted in the delay in ITIR not taking off.

Rama Rao asked Congress leaders why their own government in Karnataka failed in setting up ITIR in Bengaluru.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, said despite the Centre not giving any funds for ITIR, Telangana’s growth in IT sector had not stopped. He claimed due to the pro-active policies of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, the sector is witnessing rapid growth.

“The IT exports from Telangana has been growing at over 17 per cent against the national average of 8-9 per cent for last five years,” he said.

KTR said the state registered IT exports of nearly Rs 1.10 lakh crore during 2018-19.

He said the state government announced a policy for information and communication technology and separate policies for sub-sectors like animation and gaming, innovation, data centre, drones and cyber security.

He told the House that the government was working to take IT to tier-II cities and announced that an IT Tower in Karimnagar would be launched in October while the one in Khammam would be opened by the year-end.

Under the rural technology policy, BPO companies will start functioning in towns like Jangaon, Nizamabad, Huzurnagar, Karimnagar and Jadcherla.

He said Innovation in Multimedia, Animation, Gaming and Entertainment (IMAGE) towers, coming up in Hyderabad, would be completed in two years.

He also assured members that the government will take steps to ensure that the growth of IT sector is not confined to the western part of Hyderabad but spread in other directions too.

KTR begins damage control after Cabinet Expansion

0

Many former ministers and aspiring MLAs almost raised a banner of revolt against CM KCR’s recent Cabinet Expansion. They were promised but not eventually given ministerial berths. Former Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy openly expressed his strong feelings against the KCR double speak. Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi has also taken objection to the manner of Cabinet Expansion.

TRS Working President KT Rama Rao began damage control by personally calling up the dissatisfied leaders and promising better opportunities to them in the coming days. Most leaders responded positively except Nayini Narasimha Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and MLA Mynampally Hanumantha Rao.

MLA Arikepudi Gandhi expressed displeasure over his junior Puvvada Ajay Kumar being given ministry in the Kamma caste quota. He however relented after KTR gave his personal assurance. Former deputy chief minister T Rajaiah has also given similar response. Speculation is rife whether KTR will be able to convince the rebels before the BJP takes advantage.

Son, nephew’s induction into cabinet is KCR’s calculated move

0

The induction of both son and nephew into the cabinet by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao shows that he doesn’t want to take any chances in the wake of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) aggressive attempts to consolidate the gains made in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

As the outcome of Lok Sabha polls spoiled his plans to move to Delhi to play a key role in national politics leaving the Chief Minister’s post for his son K.T. Rama Rao, KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, realised that he can’t afford to give any room to the BJP, which is in an aggressive mode to expand its base in the state.

By inducting nephew T. Harish Rao into the cabinet and allotting him key portfolio of finance, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has tried to leave no room for any dissidence in the party.

It was being speculated that KCR was sidelining Harish Rao to pave the way for his son KTR to take over the mantle. He had, in fact, made all preparations for KTR’s elevation by making him the TRS working president after it retained the power with a landslide win in December 2018. KCR wanted to focus on national politics as he had floated the idea Federal Front as an alternative to both the BJP and the Congress.

In the first cabinet expansion, KCR kept both KTR and Harish Rao out, who were part of his previous cabinet.

Holding several important portfolios, like industry, information technology, urban development and municipal administration, KTR had emerged as the number two. His cousin Harish Rao was minister for irrigation.

The buzz in political circles was that Harish was kept out to block any problem in KTR’s elevation after the Lok Sabha polls. But by retaining power at the Centre and with a huge majority, the BJP dashed KCR’s hopes of playing a role in national politics.

KCR also suffered a setback as the BJP increased its tally of Lok Sabha seats to four from just one in the 2014 Lok Sabha. With the Congress too bagging three seats, the TRS failed in its game-plan to win all 17 seats, including a seat of its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

KCR also suffered a big blow as his daughter K. Kavitha lost to the BJP in Nizamabad. Since then the BJP has been projecting itself as the alternative to the TRS. The BJP central leaders too have started focusing on the state with an aim to gain power in 2023. It also wooed leaders from other parties, including a couple of them from the TRS.

“In such a situation, keeping Harish Rao out could have created a problem for KCR,” said a political analyst.

While KTR has been allotted the same portfolios he was holding in the previous cabinet, Harish Rao has been entrusted with the key portfolio of finance.

“KCR advanced the Assembly election dates and succeeded. This time in the face of aggressive defection planned by the BJP, he didn’t want to take any chances,” analyst Telakapalli Ravi told IANS.

“It also signifies growing vulnerability of KCR and that he can’t afford to take unilateral decisions as he had thought after winning the second term with a massive majority,” he said.

“KCR has taken a measured and less-risky step in his cabinet expansion,” says another analyst P. Raghava Reddy.

Ravi believes KCR will be hard pressed to provide any logical explanation as to why he delayed the inevitable for so long. “Harish Rao also proved his loyalty by not uttering a word of protest or displaying signs of any misadventure,” said Ravi, pointing out that Harish Rao had also offered to work under KTR.

KCR also inducted two women into the cabinet to silence his opponents, who had been targeting him for giving no representation to women in his previous cabinet.

Telangana CM again expands cabinet, inducts son, nephew

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday expanded his cabinet with the induction of six ministers including his son K.T. Rama Rao and nephew T. Harish Rao.

The new ministers were administered oath of office and secrecy by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan at 4.14 p.m.

The four other minister who took oath are P. Sabita Indra Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, Puvvada Ajay and Satyavati Rathod.

Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao, his ministers, leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), MPs, state legislators and senior officials attended the ceremony.

Interestingly, Soundararajan administered oath to new ministers a few hours after she was sworn in as the Governor.

Chandrasekhar Rao, who had no woman minister in his cabinet during the first term, inducted two women – Sabita Indra Reddy and Satyavati Rathod.

Three of the newly-inducted ministers had earlier served as ministers.

K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao were in the cabinet during the TRS’ first term in power.

Sabitha was one of the 12 Congress MLAs who had defected to the TRS after the latter retained power. She had earlier served as minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

This is the second expansion in the state cabinet since the TRS swept back to power in the elections held in December last year.

With this expansion, the strength of the cabinet has gone up to 18, the maximum permitted by the rules.

Chandrasekhar Rao had taken oath as the Chief Minister for the second term on December 13. Home Minister Mehmood Ali also took oath with him.

KCR expanded his cabinet on February 19 by inducting 10 ministers.

KTR and Harish to become Ministers: Cabinet expansion

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrsekhara Rao is all set for Cabinet expansion on Sunday. His son and TRS Working President KT Rama Rao is certain to be inducted into the Ministry. Reports say that KCR’s nephew T. Harish Rao’s name is also being considered for Ministry. In all, six new faces will be there in the already 12-member strong Cabinet most likely. One or two ministers are expected to be dropped. Political circles are discussing whether Minister Eetela Ravinder will face KCR anger this time. Incoming Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been informed about the expansion.

The other leaders likely to get ministry are Sabita Indra Reddy, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Gangula Kamalakar, Rekhya Naik or Satyavati. Former Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy is likely to be made RTC Chairman. MLC Palla Rajeswar Reddy may be given vice chairman post of Mission Bhageeratha.

Nalgonda MLC Gutta Sukhender Reddy is expected to be made Legislative Council Chairman. There were rumours in the past that Sukhender Reddy will be made a Minister by dropping Malla Reddy from the Ministry. But the latest political equations have changed dramatically Huzurnagar by-election.

Ministry to KTR? Suspense on Harish Rao

0

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is all set to expand his Cabinet soon once again. He has not given ministerial berth to his son KT Rama Rao in the first expansion. At that time, KTR became the TRS Working President. Since then, there has been an increasing demand from within and outside the party for taking KTR back into the Cabinet. MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has even tweeted in favour of KTR to be seen as Minister again.

Following these developments, there is speculation in Telangana that it is almost decided on KTR ministry. The IT, industry and municipal administration ministries are still with KCR. In the previous term, KTR has held these ministries and developed close rapport with the stakeholders concerned. Now, the IT industry leaders and others are asking for KTR to be their minister once again.

Former minister Harish Rao is also standing chances of getting ministry. But there is still suspense as KCR has not given any indications in this regard. Moreover, Harish is lying low because of reduced importance to him as of now. TRS leaders say that MLC Gutta Sukender Reddy is also likely to be given ministry along with KTR. KCR has given a promise to Gutta in the past. Right now, there are 12 ministers in the KCR Cabinet. There is a chance for inducting seven more ministers this time.

KTR warns about curfews under BJP rule?

1

TRS Working President KT Rama Rao has issued an indirect warning that communal harmony and public peace will be disturbed if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in Telangana. He asked whether the TRS government has not successfully ensured zero curfews in Hyderabad in the past five years. KTR accused BJP of trying every petty plan to provoke people along communal and caste lines so as to get political benefits.

The TRS leader is hitting back strongly at the remarks made by BJP Working President JP Nadda. KTR warned that the TRS would not keep silent if the BJP tries to implement its bad plans in Telangana like in other states. Telangana is not Karnataka where the BJP is carrying out its murky political strategies successfully.

KTR asked why the Modi government at the Centre did not release a single rupee though Niti Ayog has recommended Rs. 5,000 crore for Telangana Kakatiya Mission. Is any BJP government in any state implementing so many welfare programmes like in Telangana? KTR said that Telangana is giving pensions of Rs. 12,000 crore while the Centre is distributing just Rs. 200 crore. The Centre is just copying some welfare programmes of TRS government but it is not passing on full benefits to people.

KTR terms budget ‘disappointing, insipid’ for Telangana

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working President K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday termed the Union Budget 2019-20 as “disappointing and insipid” from Telangana’s perspective.

In a series of tweets, Rama Rao criticized the budget saying it completely ignored the state.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, said while the Economic Survey praised Telangana’s initiatives, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman completely ignored a performing state’s requests for support.

Son of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, KTR said that the Niti Aayog lauded Mission Kakatiya (lake restoration and strengthening) and Mission Bhagiratha (drinking water grid) and recommended to the Centre to allocate Rs 24,000 crore to these schemes of Telangana.

“Strangely, not even Rs 24 is allocated by the Finance Minister,” he said.

“Telangana has repeatedly demanded national project status for either Kaleshwaram or Palamuru lift irrigation projects on various forums. No mention or even acknowledgement. Are Telangana’s projects not in the interest of our nation?” he asked Sitharaman.

KTR said even after five years of the formation of Telangana, there was no mention of the AP Bifurcation Act promises like integrated steel plant at Bayyaram, Rail Coach factory at Warangal and a Tribal University.

Pointing out that life sciences and pharma, information technology and textiles are three important sectors for Telangana, he said the budget offered no support for the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, there was no mention of ITIR for Hyderabad. “The support is also zero for pharmaceutical and life sciences sector for which Hyderabad is a hub.”

On the hike in petrol and diesel prices, KTR reminded the Finance Minister of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on a similar hike when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

KTR posted Modi’s tweet, in which he reacted to a hike in fuel prices. “Massive hike in petrol prices is a prime example of Congress-led UPA. This will put a burden of hundreds of crores on Gujarat,” Modi had tweeted.

KTR’s postmortem on Lok Sabha results

0

KTR, working president of TRS, responds on Lok Sabha results after the postmortem on results by the party. There have been debates about TRS’s under-performance in Lok sabha elections compared to assembly elections. Some pointed out that candidates selection was wrong and some opined that anti-sentiments on TRS increased in last 4 months. However, KTR rubbished all of them.

KTR admitted that he didn’t expect this kind of results and told there was a peculiar trend in this results. He also rubbished the statement that candidates selection was wrong. However, he added that there is no single reason for this but there are many reasons. He called cadres of the party not to be disheartened with this results. He told that the party got 4 lakhs votes less than what it got during assembly elections. He also told that he did not failed as working president of the party. While speaking about Nizamabad result, he told that, Congress and BJP colluded here and thats the reason for Kavitha losing the election. He told, those who contested against Kavitha were not farmers but the cadres of some political party and all their nomination forms were filled at the residence of a Congress party leader in Jagithyala.

But anyway, TRS results in Lok Sabha, just 4 months after thumping success in assembly results, prove that politics are really dynamic and there is no need for any political party to be complacent about their prospects in next elections.

Pragya’s statement abominable, says KTR

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday dubbed as “reprehensible and abominable” BJP Bhopal candidate Pragya Singh Thakur’s description of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse as a “patriot”.

“No matter what politics you affiliate with, what ideology you espouse; there are some lines that you just don’t cross. Pragya Singh Thakur’s statement is absolutely reprehensible and abominable,” Rama Rao tweeted

The TRS leader, who is the son of Chief Minister and TRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao, said she should apologize unconditionally for vilifying the father of the nation.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted that the BJP was standing by independent India’s first terrorist.

“Remember, Narendra Modi has defended and endorsed Pragya’s candidature. This is not a lunatic fringe and is definitely not her personal opinion, it is the BJP standing by Independent India’s first terrorist. In a few years, Sri Sri Godse will also be recommended with a Bharat Ratna,” tweeted Owaisi.

KTR, Harish likely in Cabinet; who’ll pave the way?

Hyderabad: Telangana Cabinet expansion is most probably in the last week of May and TRS working president KT Rama Rao and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao are likely to get berths. Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already indicated that women will be accommodated in the next phase of Cabinet expansion. With this speculation is rife over Sabita Indra Reddy may get Cabinet berth. Now, the billion dollar question is that who’ll be sent out from Cabinet to pave the way for former ministers?

The 119-Telangana Assembly can have 18 ministers including the chief minister. With 12 ministers including the CM on board, KCR can accommodate six more ministers. KCR may induct two ministers into the Cabinet, while taking KTR and Harish Rao. After this, two more slots lie vacant. It may be recalled that there’s no women representation in the Telangana Cabinet during the first term.

“Except KCR himself, none in the party knows who’ll be accommodated in the Cabinet. May be after Lok Sabha results on May 23, KCR would take a call on this. We hope that Cabinet expansion may be completed before June 2, Telangana formation day. The merger issue of Congress Legislature Party into TRS is in the court.

Another talk of the town about Cabinet expansion is that whether any scope for accommodating three ministers from one district. From the undivided Karimnagar district, Etela Rajender and Koppula Eshwar are holding portfolios of health ministry and social welfare ministry respectively. KT Rama Rao is representing Sircilla Assembly constituency, which is also part of undivided Karimnagar district.

“Will KCR drop any one of two ministers — Etela Rajender and Koppula Eshwar– to accommodate KTR in the Cabinet? Otherwise, Sircilla, Jagtial and Karimanagr are seperate districts. Anyway, we have to wait and see,” said a senior TRS leader.

Koppula Eashwar represents Dharmapuri Assembly constituency in Jagtial district. Etela Rajender represent Huzurabad Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district.

KTR cautions Congress with defamation case

0

Hyderabad: TRS working president KT Rama Rao has warned Congress party with defamation case if it doesn’t stop making false allegations against him over Intermediate results issue. He further clarified that the Telangana IT department was not at all associated in awarding contract to Globarena Technologies. The contract awarded by the Intermediate Board to Globarena Technologies was Rs 4.35 crore and Congress party says kickback received for the contract were Rs10,000 crore. This shows the wisdom of Congress party, maintained KTR.

“The Congress party is linking the Intermediate results fiasco with Education department and IT department. I once again clarify that the IT department doesn’t have any role in awarding the contract to Globarena Technologies. And the IT department doesn’t involve in Intermediate exams and results. So, in what way Congress wants to blame it on me?” remarked KTR.

“If Congress party doesn’t stop leveling false allegations against the TRS government and me, I’ll file a defamation case against the grand-old party. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi apologised in the court for his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I suggest you that don’t drag yourself into such situation. It’ll spoil your party image in the public,” said KTR.

While referring to a challenge posed by Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao, KTR further added that “I don’t have to accept the challenge from a buffoon to prove my innocence by taking a oath at Peddamma temple. The opposition parties are trying to brand me as a thief and demanding me to prove myself.”

Telangana Board to involve another agency in re-verification

0

Under flak from all quarters for the goof-up in Intermediate examinations, Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) on Wednesday decided to involve another independent Information Technology agency in re-verification and result processing of nearly 3.5 lakh students who failed to obtain pass marks.

Besides Globarena Technologies, which is being blamed for the massive bungling, another independent agency will be involved in the work.

BIE Secretary D. Ashok announced that the responsibility to select an independent agency was entrusted to Telangana State Technological Services (TSTS).

The decision assumed significance in view of the allegations by the opposition parties that the state government gave the contract to Globarena Technologies as the company had links with Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president and former IT minister K.T.Rama Rao. They also alleged that the government was trying to shield the company.

Rama Rao, who is son of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, on Wednesday dismissed the allegations by the opposition parties. He alleged that they were playing with the lives of the students.

Stating that the IT department has nothing to with the BIE, Rama Rao said the opposition parties were doing cheap politics over the issue. “Will somebody give Rs 10,000 crore bribe for Rs 4 crore contract,” he asked, referring to allegations by a Congress leader.

Over 9 lakh students had appeared in Intermediate 1st Year and 2nd Year (11th and 12th standard) in February-March. The results were declared on April 18, which triggered an uproar among students who alleged large-scale discrepancies in valuation of papers and processing of the results.

More than 20 students committed suicide during in the last two weeks over the failure in exams. Massive protests by the students, parents and opposition parties forced the government to order free re-verification of answer sheets of all students who failed to obtain pass marks.

TRS celebrates 18th foundation day on subdued note

0

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Saturday celebrated its 18th foundation day on a subdued note in view of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections.

TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao led the celebrations by hoisting party flag at the Telangana Bhavan, party headquarters here. Ministers, legislators and other senior party leaders participated in celebrations across the state.

Rama Rao had appealed party functionaries to organise celebrations in a simple manner in view of the EC code of conduct. There was no fanfare and celebrations were confined to hoisting party flag at the party offices.

Speaking at the TRS headquarters, Rama Rao exuded confidence that the TRS would win all 16 Lok Sabha seats. The party had left Hyderabad for its ally, the All India Majlis-e-Itthedaul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

KTR, as the TRS leader is popularly known, urged leaders to ensure the party’s victory in the ongoing local body elections. KTR, son of Telangana Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao, claimed that in the last 18 years the TRS had become unassailable political force.

He recalled on this day in 2001, KCR had resigned as the Deputy Speaker and quit the Assembly and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to float the TRS with the goal to achieve statehood for Telangana.

“He had told people if he betrayed them by giving up the movement, they could stone him to death. That was his conviction and commitment to the cause,” the TRS leader said.

KTR said the party had seen many ups and downs, but under KCR’s leadership and hard work of 13 years it succeeded in achieving Telangana state.

After achieving the goal of Telangana state, the party embarked on a mission to turn it into a golden state with the twin strategy of welfare and development, he said.

In the recent elections, the people once again gave a massive mandate to the TRS as they believe this party alone could take Telangana ahead on the path of progress, he added.

Rivals compare their leaders to NTR’s legacy

0

YCP leader Jaganmohan Reddy used to say that his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the second most popular leader among Telugu-speaking people after NT Rama Rao. During his election campaigns, YSR also never missed an opportunity to recall NTR’s name and get wider attention from the voters. Now it is time for Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders to make a connection with the charismatic TDP founder.

Minister K Taraka Rama Rao compared his father KCR’s achievements to those of NTR. At a meeting of the party leaders and cadres, KTR asserted that if there were two leaders who upheld the prestige and self-respect of Telugu people, they were NTR and KCR. Everybody knew how NTR rebelled against Congress party’s domination and defeated it by leading his TDP to victory. KCR made similar accomplishment by beginning separate state movement in 2001, overcame challenges and went on to make Telangana a reality.

KTR pointed out that in over 71 years of agitation, there were many ups and downs till KCR appeared on the scene and displayed rare courage. He recalled how KCR at one time asked his people to stone him to death if he lowered his flag of agitation.
