Why are NDA allies resigning, asks KTR

7

The Union government on Sunday passed crucial bills in Parliament, including the Agriculture Bill with Prime Minister Narendra Modi terming it a “watershed moment in the history of Indian agriculture”.

The Prime Minister later took to his Twitter handle. “A watershed moment in the history of Indian agriculture! Congratulations to our hardworking farmers on the passage of key bills in Parliament, which will ensure a complete transformation of the agriculture sector as well as empower crores of farmers,” he tweeted.

The Telangana government on September 9 introduced several legislations in the Assembly, intended to overhaul the revenue administration by simplifying agriculture and non-agricultural land transactions, preventing land encroachments, and eradicating corruption at the grassroot level. The IT Minister believes that the Telangana government’s revenue bills did not receive any backlash from the farming community, but the central government’s Agriculture Bills had faced protests from various quarters, mainly from farmers.

On Monday, IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao took a jibe at the Modi government for passing the agriculture bills. Taking to his Twitter handle, KTR commented, “When Telangana legislature passed the farmer friendly Revenue Bill last week, there was widespread jubilation and cheer among the farming community across the state. If the #Agriculture Bills2020 is truly a watershed moment, why is no farmer celebrating and why are NDA allies resigning.”

KTR was referring to the deep fissures between the ruling BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal alliance over the farm bill. Union Food Processing Minister Harismrat Kaur had quit from the Cabinet in protest against the three farm bills calling them “anti-farmer ordinances and legislations”.

The Telangana government had been critical of the Modi government on a host of issues, mainly the Electricity Act. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar had recently passed a resolution in the Assembly opposing the Power Bill calling it draconian law with an aim to usurp the autonomy of the state governments. KCR said the Power Bill would have an adverse impact directly on the management of the state electricity utilities. He argued that the Power Bill is against the interest of farmers and poor domestic consumers.

9,000 acres Pharma Hub to boost Hyderabad revenue

1

Telangana CM in waiting KT Rama Rao has said in the State Assembly that Hyderabad is going to get another massive Project with potential to create thousands of job opportunities soon. Already, 9,000 acres have acquired for the new Pharmacy City to come in the vicinity of Telangana Capital.

KTR asked for support from all the organisations concerned to give support for acquiring some more land needed for the one of the world’s biggest pharma hubs. Hyderabad is already an internationally renowned fast track city. With the addition of Pharma hub, it will see much more prosperity in the coming years.

Undoubtedly, revenue generation in Hyderabad has reached such gigantic proportions that it has given the confidence required for the government to spend heavily on big projects like Kaleswaram lift project.

It goes without saying that in this one respect, AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy is not at all following his Telangana counterpart in developing one single capital with huge huge potential for revenue generation. Big industrial hubs can be attracted easily to metro cities while lots of incentives will have to be given for bringing them to remote areas. To bring Kia Motors to Anantapur, AP had to give many concessions which became a political issue now.

KTR in New Delhi, what is cooking?

1

The Chief Minister-in-waiting K T Rama Rao on Monday flew to New Delhi to meet top officials seeking central funds for the Telangana government’s pet project of double bedroom to the poor and ambitious airport project Warangal.

K T Rama Rao met aviation and urban housing ministry officials. The IT and MAUD minister apprised the central officials about the State government ambitious airport project in Warangal.

KTR sought central funds under the UDAN scheme under which the AAI is planning to spend ₹25,000 crore in five years on developing new airports, upgradation of existing airports and in the process of converting under-served and un-served airports.

KTR has urged rhe central officials to include Warangal Airport under the Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN. The IT and MAUD minister also stated that the government is keen on developing greenfield airports at Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jakaranpally in Nizamabad district and Gudibanda Village, Adakkal Mandal, Mahabubnagar district while brownfield airports will be at Mamnoor village, Warangal Urban District, Basanthnagar in Peddapally district and Adilabad.

KTR also appealed to the central officials to release funds for the double bedroom project. The State government is committed to completing 1 lakh houses under GHMC limits and another 1 lakh units in rural pockets by the end of December. However, the central government had made it clear to the state government that it would not release its quota of funds to construct double bedroom/ hall/appealed (2BHK) houses in the state until Telangana shortlist the list of beneficiaries.

Rumour afloat that KTR to become chief minister soon

Is Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao passing the baton to his son K T Rama Rao? That is the question that is doing the rounds in political circles. KCR had been missing in action since the last two months ever since he moved to his Gajwel farm house from Pragathi Bhavan after some staff contracted the deadly Covid-19.

Although KCR had returned to Pragathi Bhavan exactly after 14 days which is the mandatory quarantine period, the Chief Minister had not been taking active part in official duties barring a few appearances now and then.

It is reported that KCR has once again shifted to his farmhouse on August 10 from Pragathi Bhavan. On August 13, IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao held a high-level ministerial meeting at Pragathi Bhavan to discuss the government’s policy on food processing and logistics.

In the meeting that lasted more than eight hours, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Boinpally Vinod Kumar and several ministers attended. The high-ministerial meeting chaired by KTR is unusual. Usually, such high-level meetings with Ministers or district collectors have been so far held by the Chief Minister himself. KTR’s high-ministerial meeting is being seen as a departure from the tradition leading to speculation that KCR will soon anoint his son as the Chief Minister.

In the August 13 meeting, all the ministers and chief secretary Somesh Kumar and top officials were in full attendance. Rarely did KTR held such meetings. Political observers believe that the meeting was held in full knowledge of KCR, once again triggering speculation that the time has come for KTR to don the mantle of his father.

It too well known that KCR aspired to play a crucial curated role in national political firmament after he floated the Federal Front bringing together regional parties. He hoped that his party would win 16 of Telengana’s 17 Lok Sabha seats. In such a scenario, KCR wanted to play a critical role in national politics leaving the CM chair to his son. But that was not to be.

In the last two months, KTR had been take active part in party activities as well as holding ministerial meetings. The August 13 meeting has once again given enough indication to bureaucracy and the party rank and file that KTR will succeed KCR as the TRS supremo and as CM soon.

As a matter of fact, political observers believe KTR conducted the high-level ministerial in a manner and style in which Cabinet meetings are usually held. Many think the meeting was a first stop towards being crowned as CM.

Political observers believe the meeting is seen as a rehearsal for future Cabinet meetings to be chaired by KTR.

KTR with a very urban outlook has inculcated his own inimical style which has earned him admiration within the party and with the people. After he assumed charge as party working president it is a given that he was next in command after KCR.
This is the first major decision taken by KCR a day after being sworn-in for a second term. Ever since, KTR was seen as as the ‘CM-in-waiting’.

With KTR holding a high-level ministerial meeting that too from Pragathi Bhavan, speculation is abuzz that he is soon-to-be CM. That KTR will be the next CM is a given, the question is when. Political observers say it is sooner than later.

KTR reacts on Bengaluru violence: Don’t spread fake news

1

Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao expressed his anguish and shock over the violence in Bengaluru that left three people dead after police opened fire to quell a mob who clashed with the police over a provocative social media post about the Prophet Mohammad.

Rama Rao appealed to the people to desist from circulating fake news in social media. He said social media cannot turn into an instrument for antisocial behaviour. “Goes to show you how dangerous spreading fake news in social media can be,” tweeted KTR urging people not to indulge in propaganda and stop spreading fake news.

Congress MLA R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s nephew Naveen allegedly uploaded a derogatory post on Facebook about Prophet Muhammad triggering violence. A mob, hundreds in number, went on rampage. They gathered outside the MLA’s house and burnt down the vehicles. Sixty police personnel were also injured in the violence. Authorities imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which prohibits the gathering of four or more people at a place, in Bengaluru. A curfew was also imposed in DJ Halli, KG Halli and Kavalbyrasandra areas in Bengaluru.

KTR talks about 30,000 new IT jobs: What about AP?

Thanks to the presence of Microsoft, Google, etc, Hyderabad already became a favourite IT destination. Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and world leaders visited the Telangana Capital. Gachibowli area in the western side of Hyderabad turned into one of the world’s largest IT hubs. Now, Minister KT Rama Rao is talking about their government’s plans to develop another IT hub in the eastern side.

The TRS government has already sanctioned lands for some software companies in Uppal area. The idea is to create over 30,000 jobs for software professionals. KTR has appealed to the industries which emit pollution to vacate Uppal and relocate to outside of the Outer Ring Road. He is talking about plans to develop IT and allied companies in an intensive way in the immediate peripheral areas of the city. Towards achieving this goal, KTR has also handed over land conversion documents to some companies already.

When the neighbouring State is going forward and looking ahead with such bold and ambitious plans, the AP government is under tremendous pressure to create similar job opportunities for local youth. CM Jagan Reddy is talking about 4 lakh jobs for volunteers and village secretariat staff. But, the bigger questions are arising on what steps are being taken to promote big IT companies. As on today, Telangana state as a whole is heavily dependent on the massive revenue from IT exports from Hyderabad software companies there. Analysts say unless such efforts are made to attract big companies, AP will lose more in industrial development and job creation jus as the state is already suffering due to lack of clarity on Capital city even seven years after bifurcation.

India is third worst hit corona nation, did Modi govt fail: KTR

2

With growing criticism over the failure of the KCR government in handling the pandemic, IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao trained his guns on the BJP-led government at the centre.

The IT minister and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son reminded that India is the world’s third worst-hit country and sought to know if the Modi government will accept its failure in handling the pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion of inauguration of a medical college building in Mahbubnagar, he pointed out that several state governments in the country have been struggling to counter the pandemic and that Telangana is not the only state that is struggling to contain the spread of the virus. “India has now become the world’s third worst-hit country in terms of coronavirus cases. Is it then the failure of the Modi government,” KTR questioned.

Telangana is seeing an alarming surge in coronavirus cases, with more than 1,500 new infections per day. It is one of several states that has seen a surge in new Covid-19 cases after the state had rolled back complete lockdown. The percentage of positive tests has nearly doubled in the past few weeks.

Stating that the trajectory of the infection is moving upwards in many other countries, he pointed out that most medically advanced nations, including the US and Italy. “Telangana has over 34,000 positive cases. It is not only Telangana and the rest of the states in India, many Western countries are grappling with the biggest challenge mankind has faced in recent times. The US, Spain and Italy are struggling to contain the spread of the virus. There is a medical crisis even in big cities in New York. The media should stop negative coverage and should focus on positivity,” he advised.

“Even family members are refusing to claim the body of their loved ones. This is a crisis that the entire mankind is facing. The Telangana government has been working relentlessly to contain the spread of the virus. Our health minister is having sleepless nights. He hasn’t slept for more than four hours in the last couple of months. The doctors, paramedical staff and health workers are working overtime to ensure that the state becomes corona free. In such a scenario, the Opposition parties are politicising the issue. This is not the time to play politics,” he said.

Refuting the charges that the Telangana government was not testing enough, he said the government has ramped up testing as per the ICMR guidelines. “The government has started giving rapid antigen kits in several districts. In Gandhi Hospital, a 94-year-old woman and a 20 days baby recovered from the infection. The fatality rate in Telangana is around two per cent, while the recovery rate is around 98 per cent. The media should focus on the 98 percent recovery rate. In Mahbubanagar, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddpet and Bibinagar, the government has built hospitals with more than 4,000 beds capacity,” he pointed out.

Further, he said at least six pharma biggies in the state are working overtime to find a vaccine for Covid-19. “Telangana state is India’s pharma hub. Around 35 per cent to 40 per cent of medicines are manufactured in Hyderabad. At least six companies are in the forefront to find a vaccine for corona in India, four of the pharma firms are in Hyderabad. There are reports that a Russian pharma company has successfully tested a vaccine for Covid-19. We have to live with the virus till the time vaccine comes out. It is a reality that we have to accept.

KTR moots high speed metro rail between Hyderabad & Vijayawada

1

Vijaywada is the nervecenter for trade, while Hyderabad has emerged a global city. The two should be inter-connected with a high speed metro rail, Telangana IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao said on Monday.

Speaking at the launch of the newly constructed RDO office in Huzurnagar in Nalgonda district, KTR as he is popularly known as said, “The Telangana government will work towards high speed metro rail connectivity between the two cities. If such a thing happens, we can expect growth in the highway corridor between Vijayawada and Hyderabad. “The high-speed train between the two cities aids in the development of areas on the highways,” KTR said.

Further, he stated that the Telangana government initiated major reforms like the formation of new districts, divisions, mandals and villages have taken place under the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s governance. “The government has created 73 divisions as against earlier 43 divisions. We have created 33 districts as against earlier 10,” he said.

KTR to attract industries fleeing China: What about Jagan?

2

The Telangana Government is keeping a close watch on the exodus of the US and European industries from China these past few weeks. It is planning to woo as many industries as possible to their state. Minister KT Rama Rao says they are making plans on how to overcome and how to take maximum advantage out of the Coronavirus crisis. He recalls how the TRS Government gave all required support for the industries in Hyderabad to overcome the lockdown crisis.

In KTR’s view, Telangana is one of the best attractive destinations for multi-nationals that would be pulling out of China in the wake of the virus crisis and its consequential impact on global political equations. There are pharma city, textile park and so on in Hyderabad surroundings. KTR told the government officials and the industry associations in Telangana to get ready for developing more such attractive projects in order to draw the attention of global companies.

Analysts ask in what way similar opportunities are being explored by Jagan Reddy regime. After one year completion of his rule, CM Jagan is still stuck with Capital shifting, collisions with courts and, most of all, the worst gas leak tragedy in his proposed Capital Visakhapatnam. At a time when India is emerging as a best alternative for MNCs, AP should have created the necessary industrial climate. Analysts say it is far from satisfactory and lot more efforts have to be made to make AP ready for post-COVID industrial challenges.

I don’t own farm house, says Telangana minister after NGT probe order

With the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordering a probe into the alleged illegal expansion of his farm house, Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday reiterated that he does not own the property.

Rama Rao, who is the son of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, tweeted that he will seek legal remedies by exposing false allegations.

“The NGT case filed against me by a congressman is a deliberate personal vilification campaign based on utter false statements. It remains a fact that I don’t own the property as clarified by me earlier, I will seek appropriate legal remedies by exposing falsehood of allegations,” tweeted the minister for industry, information technology, municipal administration and urban development.

The NGT ordered the probe after hearing a petition filed by Congress MP Anumula Revanth Reddy alleging that Rama Rao, who is also the working president of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), expanded the farmhouse by “violating the environmental laws.”
The bench has asked the minister, the Telangana government, the state pollution control board and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to reply to its notice by August 26.

It also formed a committee, comprising a senior officer from the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the Chennai District Collector, the Pollution Control Board, Commissioner and others.

The committee has been asked to inspect the area and submit a factual and action-taken report if there is any violation in two months.

In the petition, Revanth Reddy alleged illegal construction in the bio-conservations zone in the catchment area of Osman Sagar Lake. Reddy also alleged that the minister’s act was likely to affect the water storage capacity of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar Lakes.

Meanwhile, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has backed Rama Rao.

“We are with you @KTRTRS , continue to do the good work. Political detractors are frustrated & also because you have been a successful minister,” tweeted AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

KTR to take legal action against Revanth Reddy

2

IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao is mulling legal recourse over the accusations levelled by Congress MP Revanthi Reddy over alleged illegal construction of a farmhouse at Janwada near Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy accused KTR of buying a 25 acre site and building structures flouting Government Order 111 which prohibits putting up permanent structures in the catchment area of the Osmansagar Lake. He moved the National Green Tribunal following which the NGT had issued notices to KT Rama Rao, Pollution Control Board (PCB) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HDMA). A fact-finding committee has been asked to submit a report in two months.

Taking to Twitter, KTR said he will take necessary legal action against Revanth Reddy for making false allegations against him. “The NGT case filed against me by a congressman is a deliberate personal vilification campaign based on utter false statements. It remains a fact that I don’t own the property as clarified by me earlier I will seek appropriate legal remedies by exposing the falsehood of allegations,” he tweeted. @KTRTRS

After NGT probe, Cong demands Telangana Minister’s ouster

0

The opposition Congress has demanded resignation of Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday ordered probe into alleged violations in an environmentally protected area on the city’s outskirts.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Congress MP and state party working president Anumula Revanth Reddy said the Minister should immediately step down in the interests of free and fair enquiry into the matter.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s son holds the IT, the Municipal Administration and the Urban Development portfolio.

The NGT order came following a petition to the NGT by Revanth Reddy. In his petition in March, Reddy said the Minister owned 25-acre farmhouse in a bio-conservation zone where no construction was allowed.

On Friday, the NGT also set up a panel to enquire into the veracity of Reddy’s claims and asked it to submit its report in two months.

Pointing out with some members of the probe panel are officials in departments that come under the Minister, Reddy said he must step down immediately. “Failing which, the Chief Minister should drop him from the ministry,” he said.

As Hyderabad city’s drinking water requirements are sourced from Himayatsagar and Osmansagar, the Government Order 111 was introduced in 1996 to protect the catchment areas of the two lakes from civil and commercial development.

0

Beleaguered Bollywood actress Meera Chopra turned in desperation to Telangana minister K. Taraka Rama Rao, and he didn’t disappoint. For the past few days, the actress, who has worked in the Telugu film industry, has been facing trouble from irate fans of popular Telugu film star NTR or Jr. NTR.

Responding to a tweet for help from Meera Chopra earlier on Friday, the minister popularly known as KTR, tweeted back: “Ma’m, I have requested @TelanganaDGP and @CPHydCity to take stern action as per law based on your complaint.”

The Bollywood actress, who has worked in the local film industry, has been at the receiving end from fans of Telugu film star NTR, who hails from the NTR clan which includes former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Meera Chopra’s troubles began on June 3, when during the course of an online interactive session with fans, she had stated that Telugu star Mahesh Babu is her favourite actor from the South. When queried about NTR, she had responded that she was unaware of him and was not his fan either. The response angered NTR fans who began trolling her and threatening her.

KTR, Telangana minister for IT and other portfolios, is known to be extremely responsive to pleas for help on his Twitter account. Throughout the Covid-19 lockout, his Twitter account was constantly abuzz with various requests from common people.

Tagging KTR and his sister Kavita, whose father is Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the actress, in a tweet, had said: “@KTRTRS @RaoKavitha ive been abused of gangrape, acidattack, abused, cyberbullied and slutshamed by your state. @hydcitypolice has filed an fir and i hope for the safety of women this will investigated thoroughly”.

We have to live with virus, says KTR, Harish Rao

2

After Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Telangana MAUD minister K T Rama Rao and irrigation minister Harish Rao said people should learn to live with the coronavirus indicating there might be no early tapering off of Covid-19.

Talking to municipal commissioner and additional collectors via video-conference, KTR said there are higher chances of transmission of corona virus once the staggered lockdown is lifted in the state. “Living with the virus is a reality. Till now there is no vaccine, until that time we have to adjust our lifestyle to the reality,” KTR said.

Further, with monsoon approaching, KTR asked the officials to also focus on pre-monsoon cleaning and epidemic prevention activities. Pointing out that Dengue fever and communicable diseases tend to rear up during the monsoon period, he asked officials to redouble the sanitation activities and take all precautionary measures to combat monsoon diseases. In this regard, he sought the community support and people participation.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao at a press briefing said people have to make corona virus prevention guidelines a part of their lives as a behavioral change. “We have to live with the virus. We don’t know for how long, it could be for 3 months or six months or 1 year. Social distancing will be new normal until the time someone makes a vaccine for the virus. People should follow the required do’s and don’ts. No one knows for how long the lockdown will continue. We have to continue to follow the physical distancing to combat this virus.”

He appealed to the people of Siddipet to strictly follow the physical distancing norm and other regulations to combat the virus and asked people not to take the virus casually though Siddipet is declared green zone. Further, Harish Rao said those who fail to wear masks will face a fine of Rs1,000.

No one should step out of their homes: KTR

0

As the number of positive cases in Telangana climbed to 700, at least half of the cases reported under GHMC limits, IT & MAUD minister directed the ministers and officials concerned to strictly enforce the lockdown regulations in all the corona cluster containment zones. With more than 135 containment zones in Hyderabad limits, KTR seems to leave nothing to chance.

With the lockdown entering the second phase, KTR asked the officials to intensify screening in clusters of the virus around the city and put in place restrictions, even harsher than the lockdown, which would stop the virus from spreading beyond containment zones.

In a video-conference with Health Minister Etela Rajender, Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Municipal Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and DGP Mahender Reddy other top police officials, K T Rama Rao directed the officials to ensure that not a single individual steps out of their residences and barricade all the colonies in the containment zones so that people stay indoors. Further, he asked the officials to ensure doorstep delivery of essentials such as groceries, milk and vegetables, arguably the biggest reason why people are forced to leave the relative safety of their homes.

The Telangana government decided to collect data of the people buying medicines for fever and sore throat from medical stores. Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao asked officials to gather information about those who recently purchased such medicines.
