Questions, complaints galore flood ‘Ask KTR’ live chat

1

Though the TRS may be winning the elections one after another with its superior strategy, it still has a long way to go when it comes to winning the minds and hearts of the netizens. This was evident when KTR had a Twitter live chat “Ask KTR” with the netizens on Sunday. The netizens flooded him with uncomfortable questions and complaints.

KTR went on a live chat session on Twitter after a long time. He had stopped going live after the GHMC defeat in the elections. So, when KTR went on live, there were many who were ready to shoot off questions. Many youths, especially the unemployed youths, asked him about why no employment notifications were being issued. They demanded that the job notifications be issued at the earliest. Some asked him about the government’s promise of providing 50000 jobs. KCR did not have a satisfactory answer to give.

Handling of Covid too has come in for lot of criticism. “You have money distribute during elections. You distribute money within a night to buy votes. But, you have no money to vaccinate people,” one netizen shot of his question. Many came up with the complaints that they were not receiving the 25 kg rice that the government promised to distribute. One netizen asked him as to why the Government was unable to prevent the deaths of infants like Sumedha and Anand Sai, who fell into nalas.

Another netizen even charged KTR why he was glossing over uncomfortable questions and answering only easy queries. Though the live chat was meant to take suggestions from the general public on how to handle Covid, the show has ended up as a litany of complaints. The TRS government’s handling of Covid has come in for lot of criticism already and there are questions about testing, tracking and treatment. The live chat has only proved this.

KTR urges Centre to import unused Covid vaccine stocks

Telangana’s Information Technology and Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday targeted the Centre again for its “bungling” on Covid-19 vaccination and demanded that it immediately import vaccines from countries that are sitting on a huge stockpile of unused doses.

He said the Centre should use Rs 35,000 crore it allocated in the Union Budget for 2021-22 to procure vaccines wherever available in the world and provide them free of cost to all the states to speed up the vaccination.

The minister was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of a 150-bed ICU facility for Covid patients at the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, said the Centre should come forward and take the initiative as the vaccination is the only permanent solution to the pandemic. He demanded that the Centre announce a uniform pricing and distribution policy for Covid vaccines to ensure universal vaccination.

But for “some wrong decisions taken by the Centre”, the vaccination should have been completed by now or at least progressed with brisk pace, he said.

“When we should have procured the vaccines, we did not procure. Instead, we exported to other countries,” he said.

KTR, who is son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao, pointed out that a country of 132 crore population required 264 crore doses but it did not even have a quarter of this. “Though they (Centre) knew that there are no vaccines available, they announced that people in the 18-44 age group will be vaccinated,” he said.

He said at least now the Centre should procure vaccines from countries sitting on huge stockpiles of unused doses. “My information is that there are 50 crore doses of AstraZeneca vaccine available in the United States and other countries. There are 25 crore doses in the US and another 25 crore in countries like Norway, Denmark and Canada,” he said, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi should talk to his counterparts in those countries and procure vaccines.

Referring to the pressure on Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute, he said the Centre was using 85 per cent of the doses they were manufacturing while from the remaining 15 per cent, they were supplying to the state governments and private hospitals.

He said Telangana called tenders to procure vaccines and the response would be known later. “Some states called tenders but there no response. Some states spoke to companies like Pfizer and Moderna but they said they were dealing with the government of India.”

Referring to Covid situation in Telangana, he said the state was in much better situation compared to its neighbours and exuded confidence that the number of new positive cases will further come down over next one week.

He claimed that the state government’s strategy of conducting door to door fever survey to identify people with Covid symptoms and distributing medicine kits among them yielded good results and the Centre was replicating this.

KTR said the state focused on expanding health infrastructure and also on creating awareness among people to tackle the pandemic

The minister thanked the IT companies which contributed Rs 15 crore under corporate social responsibility for ICU at TIMS.

Microsoft, Qualcomm, Franklin Templeton, Cognizant, and WellsFargo contributed the money through the Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) for the purpose.

0

Telangana’s Industry and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao, who is very active over Twitter in helping people in distress during the ongoing Covid pandemic, on Tuesday called actor Sonu Sood a “superhero”.

When someone, who received the help from the Minister, thanked him and called him a real superhero, he replied saying he is just an elected representative.

“Am just an elected public representative doing my bit brother. You can call @SonuSood a super hero for sure. Also request you to kindly help others in distress,” tweeted KTR, as the Minister is popularly known.

He was responding to the tweet by one Nand Kishore Tokala.

“Once again I can’t thank you enough KTR garu. We received requested #OxygenConcentrator within 10 hours. You helped many till the date and we never forget your continuous help to TG people. And I must say this today, you are a real #SuperHero,” he wrote.

Sood too has responded to KTR on micro blogging site called the minister a hero. “Thank you so much sir for your kind words! But you are truly a hero who has done so much for Telangana. The state has developed so much under your leadership. I consider Telangana as my second Home as its my place of work & the people have shown me so much love over the years,” wrote the actor, who has worked in many Telugu movies.

“Many thanks brother @SonuSood Ji for your kind words. Keep doing the great work that you have started. You are inspiring millions of people,” KTR replied.

Sonu Sood has been playing a good Samaritan since the Covid-induced lockdown first imposed in the country. He lent a helping hand to stranded migrant labourers in reaching home and also arranged for the treatment of poor and needy in various parts of the country.

KTR, who is son of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is coming to the rescue of people, especially Covid-19 patients in need of free treatment, oxygen or medicines.

Continuously responding to requests on Twitter, KTR directs his team to assist the people seeking help.

KTR fires on Modi for Covid vaccine shortage in all States!

1

TRS working president and IT minister KT Rama Rao on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding him responsible for the shortage of Covid vaccine in all the States.

KTR said that the Centre has kept 85% of the total vaccines availability under its control and left just 15% quota to all the States which is in no way sufficient to meet the huge demand in States.

KTR accused Modi of lacking foresight in handling Covid vaccination in the country saying that Modi exported Covid vaccines manufactured in India to foreign countries without thinking about our own needs first.

He said though all the States are willing to spend money to procure vaccines and vaccinate their population, there are no adequate supplies available in the market.

Despite States floated global tenders to procure vaccines from global manufacturers, there is not much response as there is great demand for vaccines all over the country and global manufacturers have tied up with other countries for vaccine supplies.

He questioned vaccine companies of fixing different prices for Centre and State governments.

KTR asked Modi to take corrective measures at least now to ensure vaccination for all Indians by this year-end.

100-bed Covid care centre opened in Hyderabad

Telangana’s Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday inaugurated a full-fledged 100-bed Covid care centre to deal with mild to moderate cases at Madhapur here.

The centre, called Project Ashray, is equipped with six-bedded bridge ICU facility. It was launched on May 3 as a 50-bed facility and subsequently scaled up to 100 beds.

Rama Rao appreciated the Cyberabad Police, Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), a unique collaborative body between IT industry, police and the government and the United Way of Hyderabad, an international network of local non-profit fundraising affiliates, HYSEA, Nasscom, TiE, Grace Cancer Foundation for all their efforts.

He noted that United Way of Hyderabad mobilised medical supplies worth Rs 80 crore, through the IT industry, during the first wave last year, and in the second wave, it is supporting by way of mobilising funds for 100-bed Project Ashray.

This facility, is meant for Covid patients of mild to moderate symptoms, and is free of cost.

The minister said 38 patients are currently undergoing the treatment here. The treatment, stay and food is provided free. The facility is scalable to 150 beds.

He called for collective efforts to combat Covid. “We must stand united in this battle and fight it together to win.”

Ramesh Kaza of United Way of Hyderabad said that the Project Ashray is no way different from regular hospitals. The industry associations have come together to set up this facility in a record time of five days. “We must discourage patients going straight from home to ICU. The bridge ICU many not be comparable to ICUs in full fledged hospitals, but this will help our patients being shifted to the hospitals. This is the project of collective effort,” he said.

Project Ashray is co-anchored by SCSC and United Way of Hyderabad. United Way of Hyderabad is the charity partner and handling funding through CSR contributions from corporates. This centre is set up in collaboration with HYSEA, Nasscom, TiE-Hyderabad, T-SIG, AMCHAM, Grace Cancer Foundation.

This Bridge ICU which is inaugurated has six ventilators – 3 invasive and 3 non-invasive. More than 160 patients have been treated successfully since its launch on May 3.

The entire treatment is free of cost for those who have Aarogya Sri or Aarogya Bhadhratha card. Others have to pay for some special medicine. It has the round the clock availability of intensivists, pulmonologists, and physicians in addition to adequate nursing staff.

More than 50 nurses, and 20 doctors are at the service of the centre. The early Covid patients who wish to utilise the facility may call on 08045811138 to seek more details and admission.

World’s vaccine hub has no vaccines, laments KTR

1

Telangana’s Industry and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday rued that while Hyderabad is the vaccine hub of the world, it has no vaccines to inoculate people against Covid-19.

“While Hyderabad is the vaccine hub of the world, vaccine manufacturer for the world, it is unfortunate that we don’t have vaccines for our own people,” he said while inaugurating a Covid care centre in Cyberabad, the information technology district.

“If we are given enough vaccines, our government has capability to administer one million doses per day. We can cover the entire state in 45 days. It’s unfortunate that demand supply equation is quite bad in the country. The demand is quite high while supply is meagre and everything is governed by the Centre,” said Rama Rao, who is son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

KTR, as Rama Rao is popularly known, hoped that the situation will improve. He said it was individual opinion that the Centre should reach out to Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac and other vaccine manufacturers in the world who can give India the required number of vaccines in shortest possible time.

“I am also told that there are vaccines which are lying idle elsewhere in the world, in Canada, Denmark and the US. There are vaccines which are pending approval and there are vaccines already approved and which are lying idle elsewhere without consumption and without demand,” he said.

He wanted the Centre to step up its efforts allow more vaccine manufacturers to enter the country so that demand supply gap is covered

Pointing out that Punjab and several state governments have been told by vaccine manufacturers that they don’t want to deal directly with the states, he hoped that the Centre will take states into confidence and understand their requirements. He said each state can’t have its vaccine strategy. “After all, it is one country and we have to work in sync,” he said.

The minister said the potential super spreaders and vulnerable sections among people have to be identified and vaccinated. He said the states and the Centre will have to prepare themselves and work together to tackle the next way and that they can’t work in isolation.

Stating that vaccination is the solution, KTR said the state government was in touch with the Centre to get more doses.

The minister, who heads the state Task Force for procurement of vaccines, said the state government has also called tenders for one crore vaccines.

258 arrested in Telangana for black marketing of Covid medicines

0

Telangana Police have filed 128 cases and arrested 258 people for black marketing of Covid-19 medicines and oxygen cylinders during the second wave of the pandemic so far,

This was revealed on Thursday by Industry and Information Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao, who is heading the task force for procurement of medicines and vaccines for Covid-19.

“Telangana Police have been doing their best in this pandemic to restrict black marketing of medicines & oxygen cylinders,” he said in a series of tweets.

“In the 2nd wave, 128 cases have been filed & 258 people have been arrested Anyone who has information on black marketeers can dial 100 or tweet at @TelanganaDGP.”

The minister, who has been helping many Covid infected by responding to their requests on Twitter for medicines and oxygen, appealed to those seeking DRDO’s 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2DG) not to let anyone fool them with duplicate products.

“It has not yet been launched & don’t let anyone fool you with duplicate products,” KTR, as he is popularly known, tweeted, tagging an announcement from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

The pharma major announced that 2DG has not yet been launched in the market. Price per sachet has not yet been announced.

The oral anti-viral drug has been developed by INMAS, a lab of the DRDO, in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

The Hyderabad-based firm also stated that 2DG can be administered only upon prescription to hospitalised moderate to severe Covid-19 patients as adjunct (add on) therapy along with existing standard of care.

Telangana in better position compared to other states, says KTR

1

Telangana is in a better position compared to other states when it comes to the availability of oxygen and medicines, state Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Sunday.

He claimed that the state government is ensuring a continuous supply of oxygen to avoid any deaths due to the oxygen crisis.

The minister was talking to reporters after receiving 200 oxygen concentrators donated by leading renewable energy firm Greenko.

A special flight from China carrying the concentrators landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, said that the state government is taking all the steps to combat the Covid pandemic.

He also claimed that irrespective of political affiliations, public representatives are working as a team to combat the pandemic.

Noting that Hyderabad has been providing Covid treatment to the patients coming from neighbouring states, KTR thanked the Centre for increasing the supply of oxygen, Remdesivir injections, and also vaccines to the state. He said this would help treat the patients on time.

“Under the leadership of CM KCR, the government is working with complete coordination with the medical institutions. The public representatives and officials are on the ground to take stock of the situation and are acting swiftly during an emergency,” KTR said.

KTR appreciated Greenko Group for coming forward to donate 1,000 oxygen concentrators to various states in India. In its first phase, the firm on Sunday handed over 200 oxygen concentrators to Telangana.

He thanked Greenko Group MD and CEO Anil Chalamasetty for helping the state government during these pandemic times

The minister also thanked the management of Indigo Airlines for facilitating the transport of these oxygen concentrators from China.

Noting that various corporate organisations are coming forward to help the state during the pandemic, he appealed to the other corporate firms to come and join hands in combating the covid virus.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said that with the arrival of 200 oxygen concentrators, an additional 2 tonnes of oxygen will be available now.

KTR demands Modi for ‘One Nation, One Vaccine’

0

The rates at which the Coronavirus vaccine is being sold to the Centre and the States have drawn political criticism. Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao has launched an outright attack on the Modi Government on the differences of rates of vaccine. He questioned the rationale behind the vaccine companies selling each dose at Rs. 150 to the Centre and at Rs. 400 to the individual States. Where is the need for this discrimination?

KTR reminded Mr. Modi how all the States have agreed for ‘One Nation, One Tax’ system. Also, One Nation and One Ration system is also being brought. But now, there is no such concept as One Nation, One Vaccine. It is time a uniform rate should be put on the vaccine doses.

KT Rama Rao asked whether the Centre would not bear the additional cost towards the vaccine as part of the PM Cares programme. The Centre owed a responsibility to ensure total coverage of the population. KTR asked when the Modi regime was not cooperating for the speeding up of the vaccination drive.

The demand for vaccines has gone up with people in all age groups being covered from now. The targets are being set to cover 80 percent of the population and above as early as possible. Only this is expected to ensure herd immunity from the virus.

Collective responsibility to take Covid surge seriously: KTR

0

Telangana’s Cabinet Minister and working president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday said it’s the collective responsibility of all to take the current surge in Covid-19 cases seriously.

“It’s the collective responsibility of all of us to take Covid seriously. Get your mask on and stay safe,” he tweeted.

KTR, as the Minister is popularly known, replied to a wide range of questions posed by Twitter users during AskKTR programme, which lasted for 90 minutes.

“Personally, I don’t think so,” he quipped when asked about any chances of complete lockdown in the state.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea,” KTR said when asked can we expect full time lockdown in Telangana due to spike in Covid cases.

Replying to questions about Covid-19 vaccine shortage, the minister for industry, information technology, municipal administration and urban development pointed out that there is shortage all over India.

“Not that I am aware of,” he wrote when asked whether Telangana received any reply from the Centre about the request for more vaccines.

A follower wanted to know his mantra to fight increasing communal violence in the society. “Get people to focus on real issues; employment, infrastructure, healthcare and education,” replied KTR.

“End of the day, democracy should win,” the TRS leader said when asked who will win polls in West Bengal and Kerala.

He exuded confidence that TRS will win the by-election to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly seat in Telangana. He stated that the contest is between a leader who represents the past (Jana Reddy of Congress) and a young man who represents the future hope (Nomula Bhagat of TRS).

A follower wanted to know if India is competing with china in terms of infrastructure. “Nope. If we have to compete, we need to think on scale. Unfortunately no support coming through for India’s largest textile park (Kakatiya mega textile park) or Hyderabad pharma city project.”

Replying to a question on status of Hyderabad Pharma City, KTR said that land acquisition is almost completed and allotment of lands to investors will start soon.

“Don’t think there’s much we can do as it’s just an advisory body. Just hope prudence will prevail and states are supported on merit and not political considerations,” he replied when asked if states can do anything to get the recommendations of NITI Aayog implemented by the central government.

On the planning to prevent flooding in Hyderabad during upcoming monsson, KTR said there is need better storm water drains ‘But it won’t happen within a short span Working on strategic Nala development program (SNDP). Have recently sanctioned Rs 858 crore towards the same.”

“Your communication skills are excellent. What’s the secret? Any tips for beginners,” asked a follower. “Clarity in thoughts is important to be able to express well. Always focus on improving vocabulary,” replied KTR.

New Road Under Bridge thrown open in Hyderabad’s IT corridor

1

A new Road Under Bridge (RuB) developed under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) was thrown open in the bustling information technology corridor of Hyderabad on Monday.

Built at a cost of Rs 66.59 crore, the RuB was inaugurated by Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration, K.T. Rama Rao, at Hitec City Railway Station.

This is expected to facilitate the free flow of traffic from Hitec City to Kukatpally.

Built by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the RuB spans 410 metres in length, 20.60 metres in width and comes with a 9 metre bi-directional carriageway including that of approaches.

This comes as a big relief for scores of motorists in the IT corridor travelling between Hitec City and Kukatpally and areas further along the Mumbai highway. Motorists have long been facing problems, especially during the monsoon due to water stagnating below the railway tracks.

With this, 18 projects built at a cost of Rs 1,010 crore under SRDP have been inaugurated.

The RuB is one of the projects on the Gachibowli-JNTU corridor which has been earmarked as a top priority under the Comprehensive Traffic Study report.

Multi-level flyovers have been constructed and opened to traffic under the SRDP in this corridor at Bio-Diversity, Mind Space, Ayyappa Society and Rajiv Gandhi junctions. This has significantly eased the traffic movement in the high traffic density corridor.

According to officials, with the completion of the RuB, the 10.25-km corridor from Gachibowli to JNTU has become a conflict-free corridor for vehicular traffic.

Rama Rao also inaugurated various development works in Kukatpally.

Hyderabad Minister for Labour Malla Reddy, Greater Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, MLA Krishna Rao, MLC Naveen Rao and other officials attended the programmes.

Six MLC vacancies in TS, aspirants run around KCR, KTR

0

As many as six MLC vacancies will arise in Telangana Legislative Council soon.

While six vacancies will arise in May under MLAs quota, the remaining one vacancy will be under Governor quota, which will be filled in June.

The elections for five MLC seats will be held in May.

With such a big number of MLC vacancies arising at a time, there is huge competition among TRS leaders to secure MLC posts.

Hectic lobbying has already started to grab these posts.

The aspirants are already running around TRS chief and CM KCR and IT minister KTR requesting them to nominate them.

The ruling TRS will bag all these seats comfortably based on its huge majority in Legislative Council. Opposition parties have no chance to win even a single seat.

With this, TRS leaders are doing everything to get into the good books of KCR and KTR.

They have now engaged in campaigning in TRS in Nagarjunasagar bypoll and arranging money and taking care of party’s needs in the constituency in their own with a hope that they will be recognised by KCR and KTR and will be nominated as MLC.

Of the six vacancies, only Legislative Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy is expected to be renominated by KCR.

With this, there is heavy competition for remaining five vacancies.

KTR extends TRS support to fight against Vizag Steel privatisation

0

The ongoing agitations against privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh got support from unusual quarters.

TRS working president, IT minister and Telangana CM KCR’s son KT Rama Rao extended his support as well as his party’s support for ongoing agitations against privatisation of Vizag Steel Plant.

KTR even offered to visit Vizag and take part in anti-privatisation agitation directly.

He said his party leaders and activists will also take part in agitations in Vizag demanding the Centre to withdraw the proposal to privatise Vizag Steel.

KTR said the Telugu States should join hands and fight unitedly in case of any trouble to any state.

KTR lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for privatising Vizag Steel Palnt.

KTR said if Telangana keeps silent on this issue thinking that AP will lose and Telangana has nothing to lose, tomorrow Modi will eye public sector companies like BDL, BHEL etc in Hyderabad and try to privatise them.

KTR said it’s the responsibility of Telugu States to fight jointly against the Centre if it harms the interests of Telugu States.

KCR’s silence, KTR’s attack confuses BJP

1

The BJP in Telangana is a confused lot these days.

This is because TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is maintaining complete silence on BJP. Though BJP leaders like Bandi Sanjay, Dharmapuri Aravind are abusing KCR, KTR and TRS, KCR is not uttering a single word against BJP or Narendra Modi or Amit Shah.

But KCR’s son KTR is going all out against BJP and Modi for the past few days.

In the upcoming MLC elections for two seats, KTR is not leaving any opportunity to attack BJP and Modi in a harsh manner.

KTR is mocking Modi on his earlier promises of providing 2 crore jobs a year and crediting Rs 15 lakh cash in Jandhan accounts.

This contradictory stand of KCR and KTR towards BJP has left BJP leaders and cadre in Telangana in a state of confusion.

KCR became silent on BJP after he visited Delhi and met Modi and Amit Shah in December 2020 soon after the GHMC polls.

This triggered speculations that KCR compromised with BJP fearing CBI and ED cases against him during his tenure as labour minister in the UPA government.

But the sudden attack by KTR on Modi is sending signals that TRS had not compromised with BJP.

Centre doing injustice to Telangana, alleges KTR

1

Continuing his attacks on the Centre, Telangana’s industry minister K. T. Rama Rao said on Friday that it has been doing injustice to Telangana since its inception.

Though Telangana has been performing well in all the sectors, the Centre neither supported the state, nor allotted funds for projects.

Rama Rao stated this while addressing the annual meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Telangana Council.

KTR, as Rao is popularly known, mentioned that revolutionary policies like TS-iPASS succeeded in attracting major investments to the state. Through this policy, 15,000 companies were set up, creating about 15 lakh jobs in the region. A total of about Rs. 2,00,000 crore investment was brought to the State through TS-iPass. Many states have emulated this policy, he added.

“In the past six years, the Telangana Government has received recognition from across the world for its innovative and progressive policies. Though many global companies in IT, Pharma, Life Sciences, Aerospace and Defence sectors have invested in Telangana, the Centre never encouraged the State,” said KTR.

He pointed out that Telangana has been among the top states in the Ease of Doing Business ranks consecutively for the past six years. The state has topped the GSDP growth in the country.

KTR, who is the son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said that whenever union ministers come to Telangana, they praise the welfare and development of the state but never give funds.

He alleged that BJP-led NDA Government failed to fulfil the assurances given to Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Promises made to Telangana such as setting up a steel plant, a railway coach factory and educational institutions have been completely ignored. The Centre has once again demonstrated its opposition to Telangana when it announced that establishment of Kazipet Railway Coach Factory is not even necessary.

Apart from this, the Centre is not responding to the requests of Telangana to strengthen the railway network which is vital for industrial development. The construction of eight railway lines is already pending while the survey of another three lines is also yet to begin.

Despite the Telangana government’s assurance about providing all kinds of assistance, there is no response from the Centre on setting up the Bayyaram Steel Factory.

KTR, who also holds the portfolio of information technology, said the Centre also cancelled the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) for Hyderabad which was sanctioned before the formation of the state. This has stifled the growth of the IT industry, investments and job creation.

Though there was an overwhelming response to the two electronic manufacturing clusters (EMCs) set up in Hyderabad, the Centre has not yet decided on Telangana’s request of setting up an additional EMC.

With an ambitious goal of taking the country’s pharma and life sciences sector to a global level, Telangana initiated the Hyderabad Pharma City project, the largest single pharma cluster. However, there is no support from the central government which adopted the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat,’ slogan. The Centre did not respond to Telangana’s repeated requests for fund allocation of Rs 3,900 crore for Pharma City infrastructure, he said.

The Central Government, instead of extending help to Pharma City, introduced a new scheme called Pharma Park Scheme which created an unnecessary competition among 19 states and wasted valuable time, he alleged.

Despite having an excellent aerospace and defense ecosystem in Hyderabad, Telangana has not been allotted any of the Defence Industrial Corridors initiated by the Centre. “Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh, which has no ecosystem, has been given a defence corridor. This proves that the BJP Government is giving priority to politics over industrial development. Repeated requests to allot the Defence Industrial Corridor to Telangana, which has all the infrastructure, were ignored.”

The Centre had announced a Mega cluster policy under which the Telangana Government requested for assistance in developing Kakatiya Mega Textile Park but there was no response.

He pointed out that the Centre never responded when asked for setting up of a dry port in Telangana. In spite of not having a sea port, Telangana’s export rate is more than the national average. When compared to 2019-20, Telangana in 2020-21 has seen 15.5% growth in exports. Telangana plays a key role in exports, yet the center remained unwilling in setting up a dry port.

KTR, Bandi Sanjay ‘letter war’ over Hyd ITIR project heats up

3

TRS working president and IT minister KT Rama Rao, BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay are indulging in a ‘leter war’ over the issue of Hyderabad ITIR project. KTR is taking BJP to task through Twitter as well as writing open letters as TRS and BJP are fighting a pitched battle for upcoming MLC polls on March 14.

Giving a fitting response to the open letter written on Tuesday by BJP State President Bandi Sanjay on ITIR, TRS Working President KTR on Wednesday slammed the BJP leader and said that the BJP should apologize to the people of Telangana for its failure to get ITIR to Hyderabad.

KTR has written to Bandi Sanjay in this regard on Wednesday.

Referring to the Union IT and Electronics Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s statement in the Parliament that the ITIR scheme has been shelved in the country, KTR said that the BJP State president Bandi Sanjay is unaware of this fact and this shows his ignorance.

Working President KTR said that the ITIR has not gone ahead even in Bengaluru though it’s the same party that runs the government in the center and Karnataka. “Apart from Hyderabad, the ITIR project was sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, and Karnataka but has not seen any development in any of these states. Is the TRS government responsible for no development there too?” KTR asked mockingly.

We will provide all the letters written to the Union Government since 2014 and also the Detailed Project Report of ITIR to Mr. Bandi Sanjay. Does he have the power to get ITIR to Hyderabad? KTR asked.

If the Telangana BJP has any sincerity towards bringing ITIR to Hyderabad, they should make the Union Government announce it, KTR said.

“Bandi Sanjay’s letter is full of lies. He wrote the letter to gain publicity through media coverage,” KTR said. He fired at Bandi Sanjay for writing a letter that is misleading the people of the state.

I challenge Bandi Sanjay to either bring ITIR or a project equivalent to ITIR to Hyderabad, said KTR.

KTR also added that the BJP has disappointed the youth of Telangana who have been waiting for ITIR to become a reality.

KTR, BJP leader engaged in Twitter war over jobs

1

The political war of words between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress continued over the former’s claim that the state government had created 1.32 lakh jobs in the last six years.

Two days after Congress leader Sravan Dasoju challenged the Telangana Industry Minister K.T.Rama Rao for a debate at the Gun Park while BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao reached the Osmania University and dared the TRS minister to come there for an open debate.

Ramchander Rao, who is a BJP candidate for the March 14 election to the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates’ constituency of Legislative Council, took to Twitter to ask him to come to Arts College on Osmania University campus.

“I am here at Arts College. Where are you, Mr. KTR,” asked the BJP leader.

The minister replied that he is busy gathering information about the BJP’s unfulfilled promises. “I am busy gathering information on the 12 crore jobs (2 crore per year) and Rs.15 lakhs in all Jandhan accounts promised by Hon’ble PM Shri Modi Ji. NDA is the answer so far N – No D – Data A – Available. Please share if you have any answers,” replied KTR.

The BJP leader, however, tweeted again that he is ready to give answers. “I’m here to give answers, out in the open at Arts College. Why are you hiding behind the veil of Twitter, Dear KTR Garu? Afraid to face the public?”

Ramchander Rao had earlier challenged KTR to come to Osmania University for debate about jobs given during 6 years of TRS rule.

AICC spokesperson Sravan Dasoju on February 26 had asked KTR to come to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park for debate. “We will not believe in your false statement. Come with your team and the figures on the recruitment and current vacancies,” he had said after KTR stated that 1.32 lakh jobs were given in the government sector in the last six years.

The TRS leader had also dared the opposition parties for a debate on the jobs created.

He also wrote an open letter reiterating that the government filled 1,32,899 posts in various departments during the last six years. He provided figures of department-wise vacancies filled.

The Congress leader said KTR ran away from open debate after throwing a challenge. “Though I was ready for a debate and asked him to come to Gun Park, he did not turn up,” he said.

The war of words has increased the political heat ahead of March 14 elections to two seats of Legislative Council and ensuing by-polls to Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly seat.

Telangana urges Centre for scheme in lieu of ITIR

0

Telangana’s Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao on Sunday urged the Centre to announce a scheme or an initiative for Hyderabad in lieu of Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) which it has scrapped.

In a letter to Union Minister for Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, it is clear that the Union government is not inclined to continue the ITIR scheme, he may consider providing a scheme/initiative in its place to ensure that cities like Hyderabad continue to flourish and provide employment to youngsters.

Cities like Hyderabad are the economic engines that contribute immensely to our country’s economy. It is therefore important that such cities should be rewarded by way of new policy initiatives and incentives.

KTR, as Rao is popular knonw, wrote that the youth of Telangana are eagerly waiting for new employment opportunities that could be created with the support of the union government in the IT sector.

KTR recalled that the state government made numerous appeals during the past six years to sanction funds for ITIR but unfortunately there was no response whatsoever from the union government.

“Valuable time was lost as the Telangana Government kept on pursuing the ITIR Project without any response from the Union Government. Considering the importance of the IT sector and its contribution to the overall economy, a prompt response on such an important matter would have been appropriate. Lakhs of local youth have been deprived of employment due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Union Government,” he wrote

The state minister wrote that he was sharing some very promising news from Telangana amidst all the gloomy news coming in from across the globe owing to the Covid pandemic. The latest estimates indicate that the IT exports from Telangana are expected to grow over 7% to touch Rs 1.4 lakh crore (about $19.1 billion) for the financial year 2020-21. The national growth rate in the said period, according to NASSCOM, is estimated to be at about 1.9 per cent at $150 billion.

“Hyderabad saw a healthy 8.7 million square feet of new office space creation during the year, despite the severe impact of Covid-19 on the economy. In terms of the share of sectoral occupiers, the information technology (IT/ITeS) sector including data centres dominated with a major share, followed by Banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and manufacturing sectors, while other services and co-working sectors also contributed. We could attract several marquee Companies such as Amazon Web Services, Goldman Sachs, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) to Telangana during the past one year,” KTR said.

He pointed out that the state government has been aggressively promoting emerging technologies like AI, Data Analytics, IOT, cyber security, Digital entertainment technologies (Animation, Gaming, VFX), Blockchain, Drones, etc. Added to this, the proactive role of the state government in encouraging product development, R & D, and skill development in these areas of emerging technologies has also encouraged many global and domestic IT companies to bring their technology development centres to Hyderabad.

KTR appeals to BCCI to include Hyd as IPL venue

0

Telangana’s Minister for Industry and Information Technology, K.T. Rama Rao, on Sunday appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) office-bearers to include Hyderabad as one of the venues for the upcoming IPL season.

“Our effective Covid containment measures are reflected in our low number of cases among all metro cities in India and we assure you of all support from the government,” the minister tweeted.

KTR’s appeal comes in the wake of reports that Hyderabad is not in the list of cities shortlisted by the BCCI for the 14th edition of IPL.

The BCCI has reportedly decided to limit IPL 2021 to only six cities. Hyderabad, the host city of Sunrisers Hyderabad, does not figure in the list.

The BCCI has shortlisted Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai to conduct IPL matches. The choice of Mumbai was surprising as there has been a surge in Covid cases in Maharashtra during the last few days.

Mumbai was added to the list on Saturday evening after the Maharashtra government gave permission to conduct the matches in the city without fans.

The reasons for dropping Hyderabad were not clear but there is a buzz in cricketing circles here that the infighting in Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) may have led to the BCCI ignoring the city.

Reacting to KTR’s appeal, some netizens urged him to first sort out the problems in HCA.

HCA president and former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin was reportedly in Ahmedabad for the third India-England Test where the decision was taken regarding the IPL venues.

Six members of the HCA Apex Council last week raised a banner of revolt against Azharuddin by holding a meeting and deciding to organise the annual general meeting (AGM) on March 28. Azharuddin has termed the meeting illegal, saying that it had no approval.
