Hyderabad cops use Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ poster to urge bikers to wear helmets

0

Looking to put the massive reach of director Sukumar’s blockbuster film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, featuring Allu Arjun in the lead, to good use, the Hyderabad Traffic Police recently chose to use a picture of Allu Arjun from the film to create awareness among the public on the need to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers.

The movie, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead, continues to have a strong run even after a month in theatres.

In the poster put out by the police department, the superstar is seen wearing a checked shirt (from the movie) and riding a bike with a helmet on. The post emphasized how helmets save lives of people and urged citizens to wear them while riding two-wheelers.

After taking the box-office by storm with a record collection of over Rs 300 crore and its Hindi version nearing Rs 90 crore, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is bulldozing its way to record books.

After extending its theatrical run and getting an amazing response at the BO, the Hindi version of the movie had marked its OTT debut on Prime Video last week.

Interestingly, the superstar’s Telugu action drama ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ (2020) is scheduled to release its dubbed Hindi version in cinemas on January 26.

Pushpa: The Rise is a Jackpot for Hindi Distributor

0

Leaving everyone in surprise, Allu Arjun’s recent offering Pushpa: The Rise overperformed across the North Indian circuit even after the promotions are ignored. The movie released in a decent number of screens and it raked decent money due to the positive word of mouth. The film grossed over Rs 84 crores in 4 weeks which is huge. Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms holds the entire Hindi rights of the film and he is said to have invested Rs 40 crores in the film. The theatrical share would be close to Rs 42 crores and he recovered the investment through the theatrical rights.

The Hindi TV rights are sold for Rs 30 crores and the digital rights for the Hindi version are sold for Rs 10 crores. Manish pocketed a profit of Rs 40 crores through Pushpa: The Rise which is huge for a South Indian film. He is also keen to involve in the sequel of the film but the makers will not sell off the theatrical and Hindi rights for now. Mythri Movie Makers who sold the Hindi deals long ago will now hold all the rights till the film’s release. With Pushpa: The Rise making decent money, the sequel Pushpa: The Rule will have terrific expectations.

Directed by Sukumar, the shoot of the sequel commences in April and the makers are keen to release the film in December this year in all the India n languages. Rashmika is the leading lady and Fahadh Faasil is the lead antagonist.

Culture, language barriers blurring: Rashmika Mandana on ‘Pushpa’ success

Rashmika Mandanna, lead actress of ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, is overwhelmed by the positive response garnered by the surprise blockbuster of 2021.

“I’m really grateful that all the hard work that the cast and crew had put in the film, is finally being seen and appreciated by viewers all across. There’s so much love and positivity that the audience has showered upon the film, its characters, and the story, which is super encouraging”.

Rashmika is also very happy to see the film, being appreciated by audiences from different regions of the country. Adding to this she says “The humongous applause that the film has received, only shows us that the culture and language barriers are now blurring and fading away.” It seems the film has broken all the cultural differences and sets an example of unity in diversity.

She promises that ‘Pushpa 2’ will be bigger than ever. Earlier, taking to social media, Rashmika wrote, “Thank you for all you love for Pushpa.. only makes us want to work harder.. and we promise you.. Pushpa 2 will only be better and bigger! ?????? Pc: @thisisdsp”

Meanwhile, expressing concern over the rising cases of COVID in the country, the actress has urged the audience to be safe and take necessary precautions to avoid any kind of spread of the virus. Talking about the grave situation Rashmika says “Also, would urge everyone to take all the necessary precautions at this crucial point, and take good care of themselves and their loved ones”.

Pushpa 2: Sukumar and Allu Arjun’s Crucial Meetings

After the super success of Pushpa, both Allu Arjun and Sukumar are focused on the sequel. Though the team had plans to commence the shoot in February or March, it would be a long wait for the team. After the release of Pushpa, Sukumar collected the feedback from his close pals who have been his critics for years. He even discussed about the plot of Pushpa 2 with them and took their suggestions. He finalized couple of versions and is now discussing the same with Allu Arjun on a regular basis. The basic plot remains the same but Sukumar and his team have been making changes for some of the episodes.

Apart from action, the episodes between Allu Arjun and Rashmika are expected to be the major highlights of the sequel. Sukumar and Allu Arjun are also discussing about budget and the schedules. Allu Arjun wants the dose of action to be high as the action episodes from the first installment are appreciated. Pushpa 2 will also deliver a strong social message and Devi Sri Prasad will start working on the music of Pushpa 2 from February. Mythri Movie Makers are the producers and the shoot is expected to commence in summer.

Authenticity appeals to audiences even if the plot is region-specific: Allu Arjun

0

The story of ‘Pushpa’ is centred around the Rayalaseema region in southern Andhra Pradesh, yet it was this past year’s biggest pan-India hit. Are Indian audiences finally warming up to the idea that content matters more than regional specificities?

At least Allu Arjun, the star of ‘Pushpa’, believes this is happening. “The success of ‘Pushpa’ across northern India only validates my belief,” he said. “Even if the plot is region-centric, its authenticity and the conviction with which the movie is made will appeal to audiences.”

The success of ‘Pushpa’ has also opened up Allu Arjun to the idea of appearing in more multi-language movies.

In a recent media interview, on being asked if he’s prepared to act in a Bollywood movie, Allu Arjun said: “In addition to Hindi, I am open to acting in movies of other languages. I would like to entertain a wider audience.”

He added on a philosophical note: “Performance is nothing but the actor’s mindset; the broader it is, the wider the reach.”

Is he prepping for the second part of ‘Pushpa’? For the moment, Allu Arjun is only prepared to say that he is “basking in the glory” of the film’s success.

Pushpa 24 days Worldwide Collections – Hit

0
Pushpa is continuing its blockbuster run in the Hindi markets although the run of the film in other has almost come to an end. The film has collected a worldwide distributor share of 160 Cr so far and is expected to cross the 165 cr mark with the help of Hindi markets.
The film now stands at the fourth highest-grossing Tollywood film of all time when all languages are considered. It has grossed over 300 Cr worldwide which is only achieved by only three other films (Baahubali2, Baahubali & Saaho) so far. Only the Telugu Version of the film has done a distributor share of 109 Cr so far and this is almost closing. It is at 7th position when only the Telugu language is considered.
The film is a profitable venture, except for the AP where the film had ridiculous pricing from distributors. It is easy to blame reduced ticket prices for loss, but when you know that tickets are slashed and still have the rights at something like Rs. 48 crores, the fault is with you as a distributor and not the movie entirely. We have already written an article about the Hindi version and you can read it here.

0

Director Selvaraghavan, who has delivered several critically acclaimed films in Tamil, on Saturday showered praises on director Sukamar’s Telugu hit ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, saying the film had blown him away.

Taking to social media, the ace director said, “WOW ! What an entertainer! Blown away. Kudos to Sukumar! All the characters have done a terrific job. Pushpa is FIRE at Hindi box office.

Pushpa (Hindi) has emerged as a huge blockbuster at the box office. The film has grossed ₹86 crores (₹72 crores Nett) approx in India in its first three weeks of the run, earning a share of ₹31 crores. The film is still going strong at the box office and is expected to go around ₹115 crores (₹95 crores Nett) if cinemas remain open for the next three to four weeks. The final theatrical share from the Hindi version can go as high as ₹40 crores, which is more than what the film was acquired by Goldmines, with non-theatrical revenue (₹30-50 crores expected) being an absolute bonus.

Before the release of the film, there were many that were completely writing off the film, with many in Mumbai trade propagating the film looking like a Telugu film and not gonna work with the Hindi audiences. There was a point when the theatrical release was altogether expected to let go, going directly for a digital release but thankfully better sense prevailed.

There wasn’t any extensive marketing campaign but just the digital promotion of trailers and songs. It was the years of developing a market by Allu Arjun via satellite premieres of his films that came to display and the film took opened to strong occupancies in Central and Eastern India on opening day, shocking the Mumbai trade with ₹4 crores (₹3.3 crores Nett) Approx opening day. There was no looking back after that, as the film continued the phenomenal run till now, further boosted by the postponement of films like Jersey, RRR, Radhe Shyam.

Back in 2019, in Saaho final business update, we mentioned how Bollywood has completely ignored the mass markets of Central and Eastern India, focusing only on the urban centres and how Tollywood need to explore these markets. It is where Pushpa has struck. Pushpa has done extraordinary business in CP Berar can go on to challenge Sooryavanshi numbers. The film has already exceeded the business of Sooryavanshi in Odhisa. Allu Arjun was already a huge star from Tollywood on satellite and digital platforms in the Hindi market, with Pushpa he has shown his box office potential as well. We have another PAN India star, and the one who has achieved it on his own, without any padding from a director like Rajamouli.

Took Sanskrit pandit’s help for ‘Pushpa’ climax scene: Music director Devi Sri Prasad

0

While ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ emerged as the surprise package of 2021, the film’s music has turned out to be the icing on the cake.

For the music director Devi Sri Prasad, better known as DSP, the movie is no less than a reunion as he teamed up with Allu Arjun and Sukumar again after ‘Arya 2’ which released in 2009.

The moment he heard the story, DSP smelt a winner in the works, he told IANS. “I got an opportunity to work on something different, in terms of songs and background score as well. Once you have the concept that’s radically different and the platform ready, I was confident that people would own it,” he explained.

The success of the songs in all the languages that the movie released in, has come as a booster for DSP. Recalling how each song was produced individually for each of the five languages – Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi – DSP said that composing the song tunes was the easy part. However, getting the vocals right for each language was not so simple, he confessed.

“As and when we’re discussing the script itself most of the songs compositions happen, like in 5 to 15 minutes I get the song tune ready, thereafter orchestration takes some time. But when it came to recording the vocals, I had to spend around a month on recording vocals for each song. I would have to brief the singers on each language expressions, and sometimes I had to change the expressions depending on the language.”

The movie background too had DSP donning his creative hat and burning the midnight oil. He credits his love for background music composition to music maestro Ilayaraja. “He showed us the power of background music in the movies” DSP states reverentially.

For the confrontation scene in the movie’s climax, DSP decided to literally use a sixth language in the background music. Apart from the sense of gravitas it lends to the scene where the protagonist and antagonist face off against each other, DSP felt Sanskrit would be universally accepted in all the regional language markets that ‘Pushpa’ was screened in.

He went the whole distance for the scene’s background music.

“I took the help of a Sanskrit pandit for the background score in the climax scene. I gave him the tune, explained the sequence and told him to compose the background lyric in Sanskrit. Everybody loved it”.

With the movie’s songs ‘Oo…’ and ‘Saami’ trending at New Year dos all over India and even abroad, DSP jokingly describes them as unofficial new year party anthems of 2022. And with ‘Pushpa 2’ expected to go on floors in around a month’s time, DSP is preparing to flourish his music wand for an encore.

“We have plans for a couple of songs for ‘Pushpa 2’. There are going to be some terrific situations in the movie. You can also expect some soulful music in the movie,” DSP says.

As for the year ahead, DSP actively plans to work on Bollywood projects. “I’ll be releasing some singles and music videos this year,” he signs off.

Sukumar wasted Rs 12 Cr for the Deleted Scenes of Pushpa

0

Pushpa is the costliest film made in Allu Arjun’s career and the film had a dream run all over. The makers spent close to Rs 180 crores on the first installment and the shoot of the second part will commence soon this year. The film’s director Sukumar is said to have edited enough content on the editing table and the deleted episodes costed Rs 12 crores for the makers on the sets. There is a huge action stunt that is shot but never used in the film.

The makers have spent Rs 30-40 lakhs for the expenses on a regular basis and Pushpa is shot in the thick forests of Maredumilli. All these removed episodes cannot be used in the second part of the film. The makers are releasing some of the deleted scenes on YouTube. The working days of Pushpa are quite high and if Sukumar came up with a perfect plan, the makers would have saved huge money on Pushpa. Allu Arjun is eagerly waiting for the shoot of the second installment of the film. Mythri Movie Makers are the producers.

Pushpa breaches 25Cr mark in Tamil Nadu – First Non-Baahubali film to do so

0

Pushpa is on a tremendous run in Tamil Nadu as the film now has breached 25 Cr ‘Gross’ mark. This is the first Non-Baahubali film to collect this much gross. Apart from the Baahubali series, the film that came close to this benchmark was Naan Ee (Eega Tamil Version) in 2012. It collected 24.5 Cr gross back then. Even that was a Rajamouli film that came close.

What makes it special for the film is that tamil dubbed films often find tough to collect much gross in Tamil Nadu. Even 10cr gross is said to be an achievement there. So far only event films have collected that much amount and pushpa is the first regular commercial film to breach this mark.

Pushpa : The rise is on a tremendous run in Hindi & Malayalam as well as the film has netted 50cr in Hindi markets & 10 Cr gross in Kerala.

‘Pushpa’ makers release a scene that was deleted from the original film

0

Allu Arjun basks in the success of his latest film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. The makers on Friday released a deleted scene from the movie, which has become quite popular on social media.

The deleted scene released by the ‘Pushpa’ team has Allu Arjun’s mass scene, which would have appealed well to the native Telugu audience.

In the particular scene, Allu Arjun’s mother is seen getting scolded by her money-lender for not being able to clear off the debt.

Allu Arjun, who gets deeply offended by this act, returns the borrowed money, as he demands the person to inform everyone in the village about his loan clearance. He does this to avenge the humiliation caused by their money-lender.

Allu Arjun is seen thrashing the person, taking him around the village.

This particular scene was chopped off in editing, so as to accommodate for limited run-time in the original print of ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. The release of this deleted scene has gained much attention as it appeals to native audiences.

Garnering critical praises to Allu Arjun, the action drama has been doing very well at the box office too.

The movie, directed by Sukumar, is doing well in theatres despite stiff competition from recent release films like ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ in Telugu and ’83’ in Hindi.
