‘Pushpaka Vimanam’, starring Anand Deverakonda, will premiere on Aha OTT service from December 10.

‘Pushpaka Vimanam’, which was released on November 12, received a positive response from viewers and was tagged as ‘new age drama’, by the critics. It also performed well and made decent collections at the box-office.

Directed by Damodara, ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ is touted to be a simple, yet complex story, which deals with a witty narrative. Anand Deverakonda was critically praised for his acting.

Telugu hero Vijay Deverakonda, who is also Anand Deverakonda’s brother, is the presenter of the movie. Earlier, during the theatrical release promotions, Vijay Deverakonda had described the movie as a “social commentary on arranged marriages, societal pressures, moral policing, and finding love.”

‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ is a comedy thriller, starring actor Sunil in the role of a cop. VK Naresh, Saanve Megghana, Viva Harsha, and Jabardasth Seshu play important roles in the movie.

Anand Deverakonda’s Pushpaka Vimanam garnered good buzz ahead of its release, thanks to aggressive promotions. The film is now doing decent at the overseas box office.

Pushpaka Vimanam has apparently minted USD 70K, and A$ 16,512 at the USA and Australian box office as on Saturday. This is the highest gross collections for any Telugu film that hit the theatres last weekend.

Pushpaka Vimanam is a comedy drama and the film is catering to the family audience and as well as female audiences.

With the bright start, the makers are hoping that the film continues the momentum and grossed big bucks.

The film is directed by Damodara and it has Anand, Geeth Saini, Saanve Meghana, Sunil and others in important roles.

Dark comedy-themed ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ poses Anand in the role of a recently married government school teacher, who tries to cover up the fact that his wife has eloped. The more he tries to cover the fact, the more cornered he finds himself, which caters to both comedy and drama genres. Other actors like Sunil, VK Naresh justified their roles well.

While the technicalities come into the context, Director Damodara needs to be appreciated for the subtleness in the narrative. Coming to the music, multiple music directors, with Mark K Robin acing the BGM game. Sidharth Sadasivuni-composed ‘Aaha’ is sung by Kailash Kher, while Sid Sriram-crooned ‘Kalyanam’ is composed by Ram Miriyala.

The visuals are just fine, with decent camera work.

Though it appears like editing could have been better here and there, it is passable. ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ surprises the audience with a sudden genre shift. Though the story leads to a mystery, the comedy quotient is kept alive through the characters played in the movie.

Despite grabbing all the hype through the teaser, trailer, and other promos, the reports suggest that the theatrical occupancy has been poor. Some analysts believe that the movie would have gotten much response if released on the OTT platform, rather than a theatrical release.

As his third film, Anand has chosen a concept-based film titled Pushpaka Vimanam, which has been directed by debutant Damodara. The film’s first look poster which was released on Monday has been received very well. Being presented by Vijay Deverakonda’s King of the Hill productions; the film has been produced by Govardhan Rao Deverakonda, Vijay Dashi and Pradeep Errabelli.

Talking about the film, director Damodara said that the story has been inspired by some news stories and he added real life characters to make the story really interesting. The story was first narrated to Vijay Deverakonda’s father Govardhan Rao Deverakonda, who liked and agreed to produce it. He felt Anand would suit this story and went ahead and decided to make the film with him.

Anand will be seen playing a government school teacher and the story will revolve around the drama in the lives of middle class families. Sunil and Naresh will be seen playing crucial roles alongside Anand. Saanve Megghana and Geeth Saini play the leading ladies. The film is currently in the post-production phase and is gearing up for release soon.
