Saaho to surpass Baahubali in Nizam

    0

Despite of the mixed reviews, Saaho has been doing exceptional business all over. The film continued to remain strong across the Telugu states on its third day. Saaho collected a theatrical share of Rs 4.90 crores on its third day in Nizam making the total Rs 19.50 crores in the territory. Saaho is expected to cross the first week share of Baahubali: The Beginning (Rs 22.59 crores) in Nizam very soon.

Though the film performed low across the C centres, Saaho has been doing strong business across A and B centres across the country. In Nizam, the film ran with packed houses in Hyderabad. Saaho is directed by Sujeeth and it featured Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. UV Creations bankrolled this big-budget action thriller.

French movie Largo Winch’s director comments on Sahoo became viral

    0

Jerome Salle, the director of French movie Largo winch, made comments on Sahoo movie and his comments becoming viral in social media.

Largo winch movie released in 2008 was not received well by the audience when it was released. However, during the time of Agnathavasi movie release, he suddenly became popular in India after the allegations that Trivikram’s movie was coped from Largo Winch. The director of Jerome Salle tweeted on Agnathavasi movie and was about to proceed legally but the settlement behind screens averted the legal issues for Agnathavasi team.

Now Sahoo movie also is on same lines and someone took it to his notice. He tweeted on the release day of Sahoo that he seems to have a promising career in India. Today he again tweeted on this saying, “It seems this second “freemake” of Largo Winch is as bad as the first one. So please Telugu directors, if you steal my work, at least do it properly?. And as my “Indian career” tweet was of course ironic, I’m sorry but I’m not gonna be able to help. ” His tweets became viral in social media as he told, Sahoo makers could not even copy his work properly. This kind of plagiarism allegations are severely affecting the reputation of Telugu cinema. Makers have to be careful at least while making this kind of big budget extravaganza movies.

We will have to wait and see if Sahoo makers respond on Jerome Salle comments.

Industry’s stoic silence on Saaho : A Jealous factor ?

    1

Telugu film Saaho has been the talk of the town all over the country. Despite getting negative reviews and disappointing feedback, the film is having a good run in its first weekend. Keeping aside these box office numbers, it is surprising to notice that Saaho lacked the celebrity gaga that is quite common during big ticket releases.

Usually Tollywood celebrities endorse and promote all prestigious and big budget films. We have seen it happen numerous times in the past. But, that’s not happening for Saaho. All bigwigs of Tollywood are maintaining stoic silence over Saaho. But, why ? Prabhas maintains a good rapport with everyone in the industry and his down-to-earth attitude has always brought him closer to everyone around him. He has got many close friends among contemporary actors and directors. But, none of them have uttered a word about Saaho. Are they silent because Saaho doesn’t even deserve an iota of praise for its awful outcome on the big screen ? Or Are they jealous of the pan-India charisma and craze attained by Prabhas ? It is well known that the stardom of Prabhas transcended boundaries beyond Telugu states and made him a national star. He is getting an enviable reception among North audience. The impressive run of Saaho despite poor reviews is a testimony for his craze there.

On the other side, there is a wide opinion in industry circles that UV Creations is one of the reasons why the film received a lot of negativity from Bollywood circles. The producers of Saaho were over confident and didn’t associate with any big distributors in Bollywood. Due to this, a negative campaign is being run since the film’s release to dent its collections.

Meanwhile fans are furious over the embarrassing reviews and busy in promoting the film asking general audience to not believe in the negative campaign in social media and to go with open mind without much expectations. But, in real the heavy expectations were build up by Saaho team itself before the release. They compared the film with Hollywood movies during the promotional activities and also hiked the budget. In addition to this, the grand visuals in the trailers and teasers have furthered the expectations on the film. Even Prabhas appeared very confident on the output and praised Sujeeth to the sky for his directional abilities.

Amidst all this needless exaggerations, Saaho released and failed to impress fans and critics on its opening day. The lackluster storyline and the labyrinthine screenplay have turned out to be biggest howlers for the film. The high budget which was projected by the makers seems to be a travesty as the same story can be wrapped up with a minimal budget. With a better planning and toned-down promotions, Saaho might have easily lived up to the expectations and would have received a better verdict from audience.

Whatever may the reasons behind the debacle, Tollywood has learnt many lessons from Saaho which can be provide much needed guidance for upcoming big ticket films.

In-depth analysis & review of “Saaho” by Dr. Shrawan Kumar Aerrola

    (SPOILER ALERT)

Saaho came out amidst mammoth expectations & it had everything going for it ; a superstar in the form of his life, a production house with deep & generous pockets, a supremely talented cast & crew and most importantly, the entire country was waiting with bated breath to watch this film which was touted as India’s answer to major Hollywood franchises. so let’s see how it fared.

-The true mark of a genius lies in explaining even the most complicated of things in the simplest of manner & not the other way around. the director/writer sujeeth commits the gravest sin that could be committed by a film maker, in order to appear smarter than it deserves, he sacrificed the emotional connectivity of the story by not giving us anything to care about the lead characters in the film and it also didn’t help that Prabhas looked very uncomfortable on the screen especially in the first half & shradhha kapoor must be the most dumbest & gullible cop ever, so obviously we couldn’t care much about all the “stunts” Prabhas does in the film because we’re not emotionally invested in him or shraddha kapoor or in their half-baked “love story”.

The other major issue that the audience will have i.r.t to this film is that the twists in this movie appear forced & convoluted, now allow me to tell you why you feel that way-let’s begin with reasons why these “twists’ appear forced,”The twist” is director/writer Sujeeth’s favorite & his most over used narrative device, a “twist” in the story should do either of these things

    1. should relieve the tension built up by a mystery
    2. should change the status quo of the story or a character
    3. increase the stakes for the lead character/other characters
    4. these twists shouldn’t be random as in they shouldn’t appear out of the blue
    5. they should be used judiciously

Now let’s study each one of the above implications and how this movie fails at it & therefore makes these twists appear forced..

    1) – “should relieve the tension built up by a mystery”- one of the many stupid twists in the film is that Devraj is the one who kills Roy . the director could’ve used that death to induce a sense of intrigue and mystery & then could’ve relieved that intrigue by the twist reveal, but what do we get?? not only do we not get any sense of mystery about such main characters death but we have the character of Devraj himself literally telling that he’s the one who’s done the deed and that too after 2 or 3 scenes after Roy’s death, that’s why we didn’t care about that twist because we weren’t given anything to care about be it in the first place, be it in the form of Roy’s character or the mystery surrounding his death. take another stupid twist where Shradhha Kapoor comes back to Prabhas in the second half and we’re immediately told that she didn’t actually come back but she’s still working undercover. but again, repeating the same mistake the director forgoes this opportunity to use this as an element of suspense by immediately giving us a stupid song and in the course of which Shradhha switches her loyalties back to Prabhas.

    2) “change the status quo of the proceedings” – another stupid” twist” is the one involving the real Ashok Chakravarti and David where Ashok coerces David to co-operate with him using David’s family as leverage but LITERALLY in the next scene Saaho tells Ashok that he made up David’s family. So what did Saaho achieve by fooling Ashok to believe that David has a family? what did this twist do to change the story or the proceedings? NOTHING.

    3) “increase the stakes for the lead character/other characters”- the reason why Prabhas does whatever he does in the film is to avenge his father but that twist is revealed in the denouement , so by the time we understand what the stakes are for Prabhas, it’s already too late for us to invest in his antics and this is the movie’s biggest flaw and because of this we don’t invest in the character of Saaho . the audience can’t establish an emotional connect with a character in the hindsight, it needs to happen in real time as they’re watching the movie. the director couldn’t reveal Prabhas’s lineage earlier as it would relegate this film to a revenge drama so he thought he was being clever by delaying the reveal but it backfired & turned the character of Saaho into a lifeless caricature.

    4) “these twists shouldn’t be random – what is up with Mandira Bedi’s random u-turn? the director used her characters betrayal only to show us who Saaho really was, not that it was a bad move but it was executed horribly, it appeared so late in the movie and that too with out even a remote hint that there might be a traitor amongst Vishwak’s inner circles . so when Kalki’s “twist” was revealed, it appeared random and forced & i’m left scratching my head about the assault on Kalki’s motorcade in Mumbai. who’ve done it? is it Devaraj? why would he? both he & Kalki were in cahoots, was it Vishwak? he didn’t even know about Kalki’s betrayal, so who staged that assault? only the movie gods know the answer to that question.

    5) “they should be used judiciously” – the director goes to town in using twists as a narrative device there by negating it’s effects & it lead to the audience not believing or investing in any of the proceedings of the film because they thought “what’s the point? most of it will turn out to be a ploy or a red herring” thereby losing their interest.

Now that we have seen why the “twists” appear forced, let’s see why they appear convoluted, they appear convoluted because these twists seem too elaborate and far fetched even by movie standards. for example when the audience are told Prabhas is the thief, the audience will immediately try to piece back all the info that was given to them to make sense of that twist and what will they see?

They will see that Prabhas’s plan was to commit a heist in the beginning to create a sense of panic in Mumbai police so that they will appoint an under cover officer so that Prabhas can impersonate him and gain access into the police force & frame the real undercover officer for the theft of black box all the while hoping that none of the freaking police oust him as an impostor. But in the second half we’re told that this whole “Black box” MacGuffin was a ploy by vishwak & Saaho all along, so why on God’s green earth would Saaho plant the box himself & again goes through the pain of stealing it? He already knew who his fathers killers were, Vishwak says that he came up with the ploy of Black Box to lure in Devraj & Co. If that’s the case he could’ve simply set this gambit in Waji city itself , why go to Mumbai? It’s my belief that Sujeeth wanted to play with the idea of a cop turning out to be the robber and wrote the first half around this point & made up everything as he went along with out knowing how this connects to the rest of the story. That’s why the second half appears even more disjointed & the audience realized that the entire first half of the film was absolutely pointless.

Another reason why the movie is convoluted is the whole sub-plot of “Karana” (desert) city, it appears shoe-horned & it’s there only to stage the climactic fight.

The other irritating aspects of this film are the presence of many redundant scenes,

No.1) The scene where there is this massive shootout involving Prabahs & Shradhha in the second half, the director was clearly “inspired” by Mr & Mrs Smith & Shoot’em up, that’s besides the point but look how pointless that whole scene is, immediately after that massive shoot out, when they finally get to Prabhas, they don’t kill him but offer him a deal to work for them, WHAT!! if all they freaking wanted is to hire him then why the heck did they try to kill him in the first place?

No.2) scene where Vishwak tells Devraj that Saaho offered him the black box in exchange for saving Amrita, but in the end it’s revealed that Vishwank & Saaho were in this together from the beginning, so Vishwak would’ve saved Amritha anyways but the director wanted to squeeze a “twist” out of this.

No.3) The scene in which Vishwak closes his eyes and we’re shown an incident from his “childhood” but later on it’s revealed that it wasn’t his but Saaho’s childhood that we’ve witnessed, now why on Earth would Vishwak reminisce about Saaho’s childhood ? he wouldn’t right? then why did the director include this bizarre scene? he did that just as a misdirection to further establish the lie that Vishwak is Roy’s son but that is not misdirection, especially if that scene is shown from Vishwak’s perspective because he knows that he isn’t Roy’s son, it’s cheating. you can fool the audience but you should never cheat them.

It’s not that this movie got everything wrong, look at how this movie was mounted, many at instance i was left awestruck at the sheer scale of the production and the scale of the action scenes (except in certain scenes and those fake abs of Prabhas), this is one of the most gorgeous main stream movies to ever come out of our country and it alsoThe one sub plot which this movie got right was the one involving Supreeth & how it links Prabhas to the Lal building murder.

What baffles me is the lack of oversight by the producers in relation to the script, now i’m not privy to the inside details of the production but the writing was on the wall, the script was absolutely incoherent, many scenes lacked logic and the movie was stitched together in a haphazard way, few rewrites and reshoots and another round at the editing table could’ve done wonders but as usual the makers didn’t want to invest in a quality writer and look where it landed them.

Like many of my fellow proud Telugites I was eagerly looking forward to enjoy our magnum opus “Saaho” on the biggest screen possible and after having seen it, it really saddens me to say that this film was a huge letdown. This film could’ve changed the game for Telugu film industry forever, if Arjun Reddy gave the new & upcoming writer/directors the courage to come up with bold new ideas, Saaho could’ve given the producers to trust the very same new & upcoming writer/directors who come to them with big ideas IF they could’ve come up with an intelligible & smart scripts but having seen the incoherent mess that is Saaho I don’t think producers would risk their money on big & new ideas & add to that “Ismart Shankar” performing well at B.O ,i’m afraid that producers would pump all their money into the regular insipid pot boilers to make a quick buck , I can only hope that it wouldn’t be the case.

Bollywood top production house behind Saaho negative campaign

    1

Prabhas starrer Saaho released last Friday amid very high expectations. With Baahubali toppling all box office records in North India, the anticipation for Saaho in Bollywood circles is quite unprecedented. Trade circles have predicted that Saaho will easily be one of the biggest openers in Hindi considering the massive release. Rightly the film opened to packed houses on its first day in all territories of North and registered solid revenues.

While most of the South Indian media portals rated Saaho as a flop, Bollywood circles have billed it as an epic disaster. Not stopping with their single star reviews, there have been a constant negative campaign about Saaho in leading Bollywood box office portals. A noted trade analyst from Bollywood, who gave a 5 star rating to Rajinikanth’s 2.0, has given a 1.5 rating to Saaho out of 5. He opined watching as an Saaho an unbearable experience. It is believed that a renowned Bollywood production house is behind all this negative campaign on Saaho because it is not associated with the distribution of the film in North India.

Despite this deluge of negative campaign on Saaho, the weekend figures are mind-blowing as the Hindi version is holding very well. Trade circles are predicting close to 75 Crores net for Hindi version alone by the end of Sunday which can be termed as a solid opening for a South Indian film.

Saaho is mixed on Second Day – 2 days AP/TS Collections

    0

Saaho has collected a distributor share of 10.30 cr on its second day two days total to 46.30 cr. The film has a very good hold in Nizam as it has collected 5.20 cr share which is excellent. But the film has an average hold in Andhra Pradesh as the collections are not at required levels. In fact, the collections in Andhra(UA to Nellore) are less or just on par with recent biggie Maharshi which was not sold at these rates. Ceeded is better than film but not at what it should collect to achieve 25 cr share in full run. The film should do better today and tomorrow as it is a holiday and the real test starts on Tuesday.

    Saaho AP/TS Day1 Collections – All Time Top 2

Saaho has a good opening in Telugu States as the film has collected a distributor share of 36 Cr. This is the second highest opening for any film in Telugu States as it has beat Agnyaathavaasi (27 cr) by a margin. The film has created all time records in Nizam & Nellore areas beating Baabubali2. The film has taken good openings all over except ceeded where the collections are average considering the investments. Saaho is carrying mixed word of mouth among the audience and it needs to be seen how it will sustain today.

US box office : Saaho gets an average start

Prabhas starrer Saaho, which was expected to take a strong opening in overseas, got off to a disappointing start with average numbers from its Thursday premiers. As there are heavy expectations in audience, trade circles have predicted that the film will effortlessly surpass the million dollar mark. But, the overseas distributor has messed up with his poor planning and this has adversely impacted the premiers numbers. Now, Saaho stands at all time top 6th highest opener in overseas.

The Sujeeth directional managed to collect $ 862K from 312 Locations and stood behind Baahubali 2, Agnyathavaasi, Baahubali , Khaidi No 150 and Spyder. The Hindi and Tamil versions didn’t contribute much to the tally due to cancellation of shows in many areas. As a result of this, Saaho failed to earn a respectable gross on its premiers day. On Friday, the film notched up $ 500K and it is likely to end to close to $ 1.5 M by the end of first day. Considering the hype and buzz before the film’s release, this is an underwhelming start for Saaho.

Saaho need to have a very strong weekend to go anyway closer to breakeven mark. The word of mouth and web reviews are very pathetic. We have to wait and see how it fares on Saturday and Sunday which are very crucial for its trade prospects.

Lisa Ray accuses ‘Saaho’ makers of plagiarism

    0

Lisa Ray has accused the makers of “Saaho” of plagiarism. The actress took to Instagram on Friday to write a post, where she has alleged how the makers of “Saaho” have copied an artwork of contemporary artist Shilo Shiv Suleman, and used it in one of their posters.

Lisa shared the two pictures, one of the original artwork and the other of a similar image featuring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor’s photos on it.

Lisa wrote: “…We need to stand up and speak up. To hold up a mirror to these makers to make them understand THIS IS NOT RIGHT. It’s come to light that a big budget film production has ripped off one of Shilo’s original creations. This is NOT inspiration but blatant theft. In no world, is this acceptable. The production did not contact the creator, asking her permission or offer to collaborate or offering a credit. Nothing. This is not right.”

The picture in question happens to be a poster of the song “Baby Wont You Tell Me,” featuring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor. In the poster, the two actors can be seen walking hand in hand while the background looks very similar to the artwork shared by Lisa.

Taking a dig at the Hindi film industry, the “Dobaara” actress added, “I believed the Hindi film industry was evolving necessarily past stealing storylines and so called inspiration, but the producers of Shahoo have obviously not gotten the memo when it comes to art. Here’s the thing. Creators are worthy of worship. What they produce are more lasting and precious so than all the other ‘things’ that can be taken away. Let’s hold these producers accountable for their infuriating, dishonourable action.”

Lisa ended the note with a question, “How would you feel if a thief slid into your home and took away your most prized possessions? Your heart. Your soul. And your livelihood.”

The makers of “Saaho” are yet to react to this.

“Saaho,” helmed by Sujeeth has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in theatres across the country today. The action-thriller stars Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor, Evelyn Sharma, Mandira Bedi and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

What is creativity? What is art? Where does it come from? We know what it is not. It’s not your social status. It’s not your job title. It’s not your appearance. It’s not even the image you see in the mirror. Creativity and its sister Art reach us from the sweet spot of the universe- the soul you might say- through mystery. But I do know that the creator- artist is the channel for it. Let me tell you how hard it is to create- anything- original or authentic. I personally labored for years over my book, quelled the doubts and noise from others and didn’t emerge until I had almost undone myself. Because it’s a calling. And when I was moving through dark moment of self-doubt or creative blocks, I would turn to the work that @shiloshivsuleman puts out into the world and shares on her Instagram handle. She may not even know this, but I can recognize when a creator works honourably and deeply, bleeding, sacrificing, unsleeping, stretching herself in the direction of emotional bravery to produce work that births those feelings we all look for in day to day life. To feel inspired. To feel alive. That’s why when something dishonorable happens, we need to stand up and speak up. Nothing. This is not right. Surender Reddy treated to pale faces at Saaho special show

    0

On Friday morning, though his upcoming movie Sye Raa is still to complete some post-production works, director Surender Reddy found time to attend the special screening of Saaho at Prasad’s Imax in Hyderabad.

Few onlookers suggested that the Sye Raa director is treated to pale faces at the special show as he walked out in the interval to sip out a coffee. By the end of the almost three-hour show, Surender Reddy might have understood what movie lovers and fans of stars will go through if they watch a humdrum narrative that never pinches the emotions of audiences.

With Sye Raa being a similar magnum opus made on a tremendous scale, there is this invisible question on the face of every onlooker who met their eye with the director at the screening. They want to ask him, how did Sye Raa turn up after they poured years of hard work into the film?

After Saaho ended up such a hefty disappointment, all eyes are on Sye Raa’s outcome now.

Why ‘Largo Winch’ framework shies away to fit in?

    0

Tollywood’s interest around director Jerome Salle’s French action thriller ‘Largo Winch’, which is actually based on a Belgian comic, refuses to die down. In the end, however, the local filmmakers are only becoming a black sheep as they try to forcibly imitate that film’s story with their own creative ideas.

First, we have Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyaathavasi and now there is Prabhas’ Saaho, which happen to be blatant copies of Largo Winch. The owner of a big company dies, and a secret son emerges, only to take over the company from the bad people. While Trivikram made his protagonist nature-loving guy who takes control of the company, Sujeeth made him a beast who is trying to take over a crime world.

No matter how hard our filmmakers tried, both these films failed to gain success at the box office. On that note, Largo Winch itself is not a huge box office success as the film made only $30 million while $25 million was spent on production and publicity. Ripping off this story unashamedly, Trivikram and Sujeeth thought of filling it with a ‘secret ingredient’, which only burnt the hands of producers ultimately.

All in all, 500 crores of investment got wasted on the same Largo Winch story in a short gap as both Agnyaathavasi and Saaho tried to weigh in more style than substance while making the modifications. Both Abhishikt Bhargav and Siddharth Nandan Saaho craved to become better cousins of Largo Winch, but all three of them are lacklustre heroes that couldn’t help luck shine on the movie.

In case if you are asking why ‘Largo Winch’ framework shies away to fit in, themes like raising a secret son, hiding paper-based shares (a BlackBox in Saaho’s case), too many villains are something that is tried and tested in our films countless times. That drives us to the fact that there will be no basic excitement for such stories.

Prabhas helped me learn Telugu: Evelyn Sharma

    0

Model-turned-actress Evely Sharma returns in “Saaho”, starring Prabhas. The film marks her Telugu debut.

Learning Telugu wasn’t easy for the German-Indian actress, but she says Prabhas came to her rescue when she needed help to understand her lines.

“‘Saaho’ is my debut film in Tollywood. Telugu was difficult to learn initially but I had so many people to guide me on the sets – like Prabhas and director Sujeeth, so I managed to learn my lines quickly. I have finally learned Hindi now and Telugu is a completely different language. But I’m always up for a good challenge! We had so much fun shooting together with the pan-Indian cast, in three different languages!” said Evelyn.

The actress, who is an admirer of the “Baahubali” fame superstar, said: “I am a huge fan of Prabhas and when I got to know that I will be getting to work with him I immediately said yes. Prabhas is a thorough gentleman and he is so down to earth.”

In the movie, Evelyn’s character is called Jennifer. “It’s a small but significant role where I will be seen in an action avatar for the first time,” said the actress, adding: “I couldn’t be happier that I am a part of the biggest action thriller of 2019.”

“Saaho” is helmed by Sujeeth and the film has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil in theatres across the country today. The action-thriller also features Shraddha Kapoor, Mandira Bedi and Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Can Saaho unleash the potential of Nizam market ?

    0

Saaho is all set for a grand release tomorrow and the film is having huge advances everywhere. The film is more special in Nizam than the rest of the areas in Telugu states as it is having a full-fledged hike for the first time.

The film is releasing in a record number of 131 out of 134 single screens in Hyderabad city. It is literally being showcased on every screen. It’s also releasing in 35 plexes with 640 shows which means the film is playing with 1160 shows in Hyderabad. Coming to the tickets the rates are hiked from:
    ₹138/₹150 to ₹200 (Multiplexes)
    ₹125 to ₹150 (Asian Group)
    ₹110 to ₹150
    ₹100 to ₹125
    ₹80 to ₹110
    ₹70 to ₹100

It is also releasing in 270 single screens + 5 Multiplexes in the districts of Nizam as of today. The total show count for the film in nizam is about 2300 which is an All-Time Record for any film in the circuit.

Now let’s see how a full-fledged ticket hike can benefit the film. Recently Maharshi also had this increase in ticket rates but it was kind of partial. Only a few multiplexes have played it at ₹200 while the maximum rate in single screens was ₹125. That film had collected ₹6.40 Cr on its opening day and went on to collect nearly ₹30 Cr in full run with a decent word of mouth. Now with better/full-fledged uniform rates and decent word of mouth Saaho can collect ₹35 – ₹40 Cr and may even do ₹45-₹50 Cr if it gets good word of mouth.

We have to wait and see if Saaho can unleash the potential of the Nizam market which will benefit further biggies like Sye Raa, Sarileru Neekevvaru and many more.

Forecast: ‘Saaho Re Prabhas’ – The Test of Pan India Star.

In 2015, with the release of Baahubali: The Beginning followed by the reigning, defending and undisputed champion Baahubali: The Conclusion in 2017, a question arose that, whether Prabhas has reached the place which no one has, for a long time, if not ever, known as the “pan-India star”. This weekend Saaho will give the answer to that question. On paper, however, we got the answer with the record-breaking pre-release business that film has yielded, but what’s the actual position, that will be known this weekend.

Quoting Uncle Ben, “with great power comes great responsibility”, there’s a lot that comes with the title “pan-India star”, not to forget the ₹270 crore that film needs to recover. Now that needs a big opening, to begin with, and helping the cause here will be the release over 6700 screens, making it the widest release ever across India. Coming to the part where you need to fill these screens, there is a mixed bag right now.

If you are in the Telugu states or Karnataka this weekend, finding tickets to Saaho maybe hefty task. In the Telugu hotpots, the film is second biggest pre-seller ever, only behind the Baahubali: The Conclusion, by the end of Thursday, it might even pass that. Going by the pre-sales and the massive capacity that film is getting, opening record of Baahubali: The Conclusion in APTS might not stand by the end of Friday.

Speaking of North India, the Hindi version of the film had raked in ₹4 crore till morning today in pre-sales, presaging a ₹22-25 crore opening day gross. This might not look like much when compared with Baahubali’s ₹55 crore but that’s par what 2.0 did last year, which had a big Bollywood star name attached in Akshay Kumar and ticket prices inflated with 3D. In fact, no film from Bollywood has crossed ₹20 crore on a non-holiday this year. Things aren’t that rosy for Tamil Nadu and Kerala as pre-sales aren’t par expectations, but there is possibility of walk-ins making driving the numbers on Friday.

At this time we are anticipating a ₹85 crore gross opening day in India, which will be the second highest of all time, just behind Baahubali 2 and miles ahead the number three, 2.0 at just under ₹69 crore. There was a possibility of ₹100 crore opening day but that turned into a pipe dream when the release date was postponed from 15th August.
