Govt’s campaign on inner ring road is full of untruths, fabricated stories: Pattabhi

1

If one goes by the irrelevant statements of ruling party MLA, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, the insolent remarks made by the former minister, Perni Naani, on the floor of the Assembly and the details mentioned by the officials in the affidavit clearly indicate that the State Government’s arguments on the Amaravathi Inner Ring Road are totally false and concocted, remarked TDP spokesman, Kommareddy Pattabhiram, on Thursday.

Talking to media persons, Pattabhiram asked whether former chief minister and TDP supremo, Chandrababu Naidu, and TDP general secretary, Lokesh committed the sin by issuing the GO sacrificing 23 per cent of the Heritage land in the land acquisition for the inner ring road. Is it Chandrababu’s crime to have a vision on the people’s capital of Amaravathi and also on the inner ring road which is crucial for the overall development of the State, he said.

If Lokesh has personally designed the inner ring road as is being claimed by the State Government will he plan to lose the Heritage land, which belongs to his family, Pattabhi questioned. As 23 per cent of the Heritage land (2.15 acres) goes in the alignment of the inner ring road will they implement the alignment, he asked.

All these arguments clear all doubts that either Chandrababu or Lokesh has any connections whatsoever with the alignment of the inner ring road, Pattabhi observed. The issues mentioned in the affidavit clearly reflect the fact that CID officials are toeing the line of the ruling dispensation, he stated.

Much before the elections are held after the State’s bifurcation and when no one has any idea which party will come to power, the Heritage board at its 155th meeting on March 21, 2014 has decided to purchase land for its own needs between Vijayawada and Guntur cities, Pattabhi explained. The CID officials funnily mentioned in the affidavit asked what is wrong if the inner ring road passes through the heart of the city, he pointed out.

After the State’s bifurcation, Chandrababu thought of constructing three ring roads, one inner ring road, one outer ring road and the regional ring road to develop the State, Pattabhi maintained. Placing 20 documents before the media on the inner ring road, Pattabhiram asked Perni Naani to show where the inner ring road is in existence.

Payyavula demands State Govt’s reply on diversion of Rs 900 cr

0

Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman and TDP MLA, Payyavula Kesav, on Friday came down heavily on the State Government for diverting Rs 900 cr funds raised as loan in the name of Rayalaseema drought relief.

It is a massive scam that the State Government illegally diverted these funds to the accounts of private companies raised as loans for drought relief and for building projects in Rayalaseema, Payyavula told media persons. What Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, will say about the diversion of these funds without taking up the works for which the loan has been raised, Payyavula asked.

Pointing out that he had already raised the issue on Thursday, the PAC chairman expressed surprise that even after 24 hours there was absolutely no response from the State Government. “How to take this silence and whether it can be understood that the ruling dispensation has quietly accepted the facts,” Payyavula noted.

Though Minister for Irrigation, Ambati Ram Babu, addressed the media this morning but he only kept on criticising the Opposition parties and its leaders, the TDP MLA said, adding that there is no mention about the Rs 900 cr scam. Demanding the Government to come out with facts on how these funds were diverted, Payyavula said that if the ruling party leaders do not respond then the TDP will have to hand over the evidence to the investigating agencies.

“If the ruling party leaders are not responding when the funds to be credited to the exchequer are diverted, it clearly indicates that they are partners in the scam,” the PAC chairman felt. Had these funds been spent properly, all the pending projects in Rayalaseema would have been completed which would have been useful for the people of the region”, he felt.

It is really shameful that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues are keeping silent when there are no accounts for such a huge amount, he remarked and felt that the irrigation projects in Rayalaseema have become ATMs to Mr Jagan. The directions issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) are completely ignored only to loot the State by thousands of crores, Payyavula said and pointed out that Rs 300 cr is being minted monthly by the sand mafia.

Replying to media persons, Payyavula said that the State Government is now getting ready to resularise the assigned lands only for the benefit of the ruling party leaders but not to the poor. The lands owned by the poor are already grabbed by the YSRCP leaders, Payyavula added.

AP being pushed into deep crisis, say TDP MLAs

0

TDP MLAs on Friday made it clear that realising the issues mentioned in the State Reorganisation Act is totally dependent on the State Government.

The party MLAs, who were earlier suspended from the Assembly, told media persons that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues visited New Delhi several times in the past three-and-half years while the Minister for Finance, Buggana Rajendranath, is permanently staying in the national capital. But they could not raise the matter before the Union Government, the MLAs said.

In fact, it is the YSRCP which demanded a steel plant for Kadapa but not even a single representation has been submitted to the Centre on this, they pointed out. The State Government has miserably failed to achieve these subjects mentioned in the Reorganisation Act and when the TDP pointed this out on the floor of the House, the ruling party is resorting to counter attacks, they observed.

The State is now witnessing a situation wherein even Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, could not get a single industry to his home district, Kadapa, but the ruling party shamelessly initiated a debate in the Assembly on industrialisation in the State, they maintained. “Except wasting the valuable time of the House, what is the use of such debates,” they asked.

Nimmala Ramanaidu, said that when the TDP members wanted to raise on the floor of the Assembly certain issues with regard to women, the poor and the middle-class sections of society, the ruling party members did not cooperate at all. The State Government is imposing heavy taxes on the people and the debt burden on each head in the State is increasing by every passing day. “In fact, the TDP wanted the House proceedings to be in order and we made a special request to the Chair to take up the Question Hour. But the Chair has rejected the adjournment motion submitted by us,” he said.

Another TDP MLA, Gorantla Butchiah Chowadary, said that all the industries were moving out of AP and the YSRCP cannot boast of achieving anything in the past three years. Except causing inconvenience to the people by imposing ‘J’ tax on them and subjecting the industrialists to wild threats, the YSRCP could not do anything for the State, he observed.

Companies like the Amar Raja Batteries and the Zuvari Cements, which have been creating employment to lakhs of people, have been forced to shut their doors following which the industrialists are shifting their units out of Andhra Pradesh, Butchaiah Chowdary said.

Finally, Jagan government begins works in Amaravati

0

The YSR Congress government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in AP had finally started the work in Amaravati.

The high court had directed the government to develop the layouts and give plots to the farmers who have given their lands for the capital. The order was issued on March 3 giving three months’ time to the government to develop the layout and six months to develop the Amaravati city.

Recently, the court had directed the state government to file a status report on Amaravati development and posted the case to July 12 for further hearing. The high court wanted the state government to develop Amaravati as promised in the APCRDA Act 2014.

Jagan Mohan Reddy government is unwilling to develop Amaravati as it had planned for the decentralisation of the capital. It had proposed executive capital in Visakhapatnam, judicial capital in Kurnool and Legislative capital in Amaravati. However, the farmers have been opposing this model and insisting on developing Amaravati into a full-fledged capital.

The officials have initiated the work on developing Amaravati as directed by the high court. They have taken up the works which were completed beyond 70 per cent works during the TDP regime.

Accordingly, Jagan Mohan Reddy government started the road widening works on Karakatta and restoration of the seed access road from Venkatapalem to Rayapudi. The officials have also started finishing work to the MLAs, MLCs and the IAS and IPS officers residential quarters.

The officials told the chief minister during a review meeting at Tadepalli camp office on Monday. The chief minister held a review meeting with the officials of the municipal administration and urban development where the works on Amaravati were also reviewed.

CAG raps Jagan govt on financial indiscipline!

0

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh headed by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has come under heavy criticism from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) over financial mismanagement.

The AP government has tabled CAG report for 2019-21 in Legislative Assembly on Friday (today).

In its report, CAG said that the AP government is dealing financial matters in an ‘unconstitutional manner’.

The CAG also pointed out AP government’s ‘financial indiscipline’ in managing financial resources.

The CAG stated that the revenue earnings of AP government have increased by 3.17% in 2019-20 when compared with 2018-19.

The expenditure on account of new welfare schemes has increased by 6.91% in 2019-21 when compared with 2018-19.

The burden on account of repayment of debts has increased to over Rs 32,000 crore, the CAG stated.

Andhra govt takes U-turn on abolishing Legislative Council

0

Nearly two years after deciding to abolish Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, the YSR Congress Party government took a U-turn with the state Legislative Assembly on Tuesday unanimously adopting a resolution.

Through this resolution, the state Assembly withdrew the earlier resolution seeking the abolishing of the Legislative Council, the upper house of the state legislature.

Moving the resolution, Minister for Legislative Affairs, Buggana Rajendranath recalled that the Assembly had adopted a resolution on January 27, 2020 urging the Centre to abolish the Council.

It was sent to Union Home Ministry for consideration and with response not coming and ambiguity and dilemma on the functioning of the House continuing, the government has decided to withdraw the earlier resolution, he said.

The minister said the decision for the abolition of the Council was taken to remove intentional and avoidable delays in the passing of Bills. However, despite constant persuasion of the matter at various levels and elapse of a considerable period of time of one year and 10 months, there was no action from the Centre, he said.

In the meantime, the Council has been functioning and discharging its bounden duties.

However, there was uncertainty among the members over the inordinate delay as the matter was kept pending with the Union Home Ministry and there being no time-frame for the process to be completed, it was considered necessary to put an end to the prevailing uncertainty and ambiguity.

He told the House this was affecting the dignity and decorum associated with the Council and its members.

Interestingly, this comes a day after the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government withdrew two legislations to develop three state capitals and announced its decision to come out with a comprehensive legislation addressing concerns of all.

The decision to abolish the Council was taken after the government could not pass the Bills for trifurcation of state capital as the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the upper house.

The passing of resolution last year had set in motion the process to do away with the bicameral system of legislature.

The resolution was passed in the absence of TDP, which stayed away from day-long special sitting to protest against the “undemocratic” move by the YSRCP government.

The resolution was sent to the Union Home Ministry for drafting a Bill and tabling it in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had then told the Assembly that the step was taken to protect the democracy as the Council was being misused by the opposition to create obstacles for the Bills passed by the Assembly which is directly elected by the people.

Reddy had said his government was proud to abolish the Council as it was being misused for political interests and was proving a burden on the state exchequer.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had said that his party can get a majority in the Council next year but public interest is paramount for them.

The YSRCP, which then had just nine members in the 58-member Council, has now gained an upper hand.

Interestingly, it was Jagan Mohan Reddy’s father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as the chief minister of then undivided Andhra Pradesh who had got the Council revived in 2007. This was 22 years after the upper house was abolished during the TDP regime of N.T. Rama Rao in 1985.

Jagan will drop all ministers from his cabinet soon: Balineni

0

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will drop all the ministers from his cabinet soon and induct all new faces into his cabinet.

This was disclosed by none other than Balineni Srinivas Reddy, the minister for energy in Jagan’s cabinet and considered to be the close aide of YS Jagan.

Balineni said he has no fears that he will lose his minister post soon.

Balineni reminded Jagan’s earlier statement when he formed his cabinet in June 2019. At that time, Jagan stated that he will continue this cabinet for first two-and-a-half years and later give chance to others for the remaining two-and-a-half years term of YSRCP government.

Going by this, Jagan has to change his cabinet by December this year.

However, there were speculations that Jagan may not remove seniors like Botsa Satyanarayana from his cabinet but Balineni’s comments show that Jagan will not spare anyone and he will go for a totally new cabinet in December.

Balineni said it’s the ‘policy decision’ of Jagan to change cabinet after six months and everyone should abide by it.

He further said that he will completely support Jagan in changing his cabinet.

AP High Court warns Jagan govt of contempt proceedings!

0

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday (today) warned Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy led YSRCP government of initiating contempt proceedings against it if it fails to clear NREGA arrears by September 15.

The High Court expressed severe anger at the AP government for failing to implement its orders issued two weeks ago in this case.

The High Court pointed out that it had issued orders to clear NREGA bill arrears of 494 cases two weeks ago.

The High Court expressed anger at AP government clearing bills of only 25 cases even after two weeks.

The High Court gave one-week deadline for AP government to clear the NREGA dues or face contempt proceedings.

The Jagan government earlier claimed that the dues were because of Centre failing to release the funds. But the Centre filed an affidavit in the High Court stating that it does not owe any dues to AP government and cleared all the bills that were submitted by AP government.

The Centre’s affidavit exposed AP government’s lies and also exposed that the AP government diverted NREGA funds released by the Centre for other purposes.

AP High Court directs Jagan govt to pay MNREGA arrears in 2-weeks

1

The Andhra Pradesh High Court came down heavily on YSRCP-led government in AP led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy over defaulting on payment of wages to rural workers under the Centre’s MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act) scheme.

The AP High Court on Monday (today) ordered the Jagan government to clear MNREGA arrears within two weeks. The court issued interim orders in this regard.

The AP government informed the court that it has paid Rs 413 crore to MNREGA workers so far and there is a balance of Rs 1,117 crore. It promised to release the balance amount within four months citing that the Centre is yet to release the funds.

However, the Centre submitted an affidavit in the High Court stating that it released the funds as per the utilisation certificates submitted by the state government.

The Centre’s affidavit proved that the Jagan government had diverted MNREGA funds to other purposes to overcome the financial crisis it is facing due to the implementation of cash dole out schemes in the name of Navaratnalu.

The High Court viewed that non-payment of wages to workers amounts to a violation of the Constitution as well as the MNREGA Act.

Why are retired IAS officials planning to complain against Jagan government?

0

Severely cash-strapped Andhra Pradesh Government is in for another embarrassment with the retired civil servants, drawing pensions from AP government’s account, getting agitated over the delay in their pension disbursal. With the state government giving top priority to paying welfare pensions and other schemes such as Amma Vodi and Navaratnalu, the payment of pensions is taking a backseat.

The former civil servants have reportedly decided to take the issue to the notice of the Central Government, which is already tightening the screws on the State government for its profligate spending. They will soon lodge a complaint and ask the centre to pay their pensions directly bypassing the State Government. They are upset that the State Government is diverting this amount for its welfare schemes. The pensions of the IAS officers are being paid much later.

If the retired IAS and IPS officers do this, it will be a huge embarrassment for the Jagan government. The Jagan Government is unable to pay for the welfare schemes to the people. Continuing with these schemes is proving to be a huge burden. Even the salaries of the government employees and other pensioners are being delayed. The former civil servants took a serious view and have reportedly decided to take up the matter with the Central Government.

If this happens, the credibility of the state government would be seriously damaged, sources say. The officials of the state government are said to be lobbying hard with these former officials not to resort to the extreme step. Let’s wait and watch how things unfold.

Jagan govt sacks 3 finance officials for ‘media leaks’

0

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh issued orders suspending three officials in finance department on charges of leaking confidential information on state government’s financial condition to media.

Of them, one is secretary-level officer and two are section officers.

The suspension orders were issued as per the directions of AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

The government claimed that they were suspended following the investigation done by vigilance department which detected media leaks by these three officials.

Jagan government has been facing severe embarrassment for the past few weeks with reports of financial mismanagement and bad financial condition of state government appearing in media prominently almost every day.

With this contractors are not coming forward to take up works and banks are refusing to give loans to AP government doubting repayment capacity.

Jagan government was shocked over confidential information leaking to media from finance department and ordered vigilance inquiry.

Why does Jagan government dreads August 1

First of August… the AP government is dreading the very mention of this word. By this date, the AP Government needs at least Rs 10000 crore to pay the salaries of the employees, pensions of the retirees, and payment of various welfare pensions., besides making arrangements for daily expenditure of the government. The government might somehow or the other arrange for the welfare pensions. But, is there a guarantee that the government employees and pensioners will get their salaries and pensions on August 1?

The only way the government can pay the salaries is by taking an overdraft. But, the government has already taken an overdraft and now has no other way of borrowings. According to the directions of the 15th finance commission, the AP government has already overshot its borrowing limit.

This only means that the employees and pensioners may have to wait for some more days to get their salaries.. According to the 15th finance commission, the state government cannot borrow beyond Rs 4872 crore. This means it has already borrowed more than this amount. The state government may win accolades for the welfare schemes, but the governance is going down the drain under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

No attempt is made to mop up additional revenue and increase its sources of income. The AP Government is doing neither. At the same time, its welfare expenditure is hitting through the roof. As a result, the state appears to be heading for a financial doom. How long will Jagan keep on spending Rs 10000 crore every month without hiking taxes? What will be the public reaction if he hikes the taxes.

Blow to Jagan govt: SC strikes down Amaravathi insider trading petition!

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh headed by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy received a jolt in the Supreme Court on Monday in a case pertaining to insider trading in purchase of lands by some individuals in Amaravathi capital region and also in acquiring lands for the capital region at Amaravati during previous TDP regime between 2014 and 2019.

The Supreme Court on Monday has struck down the AP government’s petition on Amaravathi insider trading.

The AP High Court on January 20, 2021, struck down the cases registered by the AP Crime Investigation Department (CID) alleging insider trading in purchase of lands by some people in Amaravati.

However, the Jagan government filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court on June 29 challenging the AP High Court judgement delivered on January 20 stating that there was no insider trading in Amaravati.

A division bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Vineeth Saran and Justice Dinesh Meheshwari heard this petition.

The bench struck down the petition on Monday stating that AP High Court has struck down the petition after taking into consideration all the issues.

The CID had registered the cases against several individuals, including Kilaru Rajesh, a close aide of TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh, and Northface Holdings Private Limited director Tottempudi Venkateswara Rao, based on a complaint filed by N Suresh of Velagapudi, alleging insider trading.

It was alleged that some people with the prior knowledge of the location of the State capital, purchased lands at cheaper rates in Amaravati.

The high court had earlier stated that the lands purchased by the petitioners got valid registration documents. Purchase of lands with proper registration cannot be considered as a crime under Section 420 of IPC. No police investigation had concluded that the petitioners committed a crime. There were reports in the media about the location of State capital even before former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was sworn in on June 9, 2014 and it could not be said that the petitioners purchased the lands concealing the facts, the high court observed.

Jagan govt begins demolition of Iconic Bridge in Amaravathi!

1

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be on a mission to finish off Amaravathi capital city as early as possible so as to shift the capital to Vizag.

The Jagan government has now started demolition of Iconic Bridge in Amaravathi that was initiated by previous TDP government led by then CM N Chandrababu Naidu to provide connectivity between Vijayawada and Amaravathi.

Naidu had on January 12, 2019 laid the foundation stone for the ‘Kuchipudi iconic bridge’. With a 170-metre-tall pylon, it was one of the many “iconic” structures planned by Naidu, who wanted to develop Amaravati as a world-class city.

The 3.2-km long six-lane bridge was intended to connect Amaravati with Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway at a cost of Rs 1,387 crore. The contract was bagged by L&T. The company had constructed platforms to construct the bridge.

However, after Jagan became CM in May 2019, he stopped all works in Amaravathi capital region. With this, the bridge works came to a halt.

But in August 2019, Jagan took a decision to scale down the project terming it as very expensive and said this would be built in a simple manner with Rs 400 crore and not as cable bridge planned across Krishna river earlier.

However, officials have now started demolishing the entire platforms giving indications that the Jagan government wants to completely scrap this project.

The AP government officials have deployed Proclainers to demolish the platforms that were set up earlier for the construction of Iconic Bridge. The demolition works are going on for the past two days.

TTD being compromised by private firms’ involvement: TDP

1

Telugu Desam Party President N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday alleged that the holiness of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is being compromised by handing over charge of various works to private firms, sidelining those who used to offer free services earlier.

“Earlier, the generosity of national banks, NGOs and service organisations used to offer many free services without the requirement of the TTD spending a single penny,” he said.

Noting that a huge number of people used to volunteer in these services and visit the deity for free, Naidu claimed that volunteers and donors have been sidelined now to bring in private companies which are scanning tickets.

Criticising this decision, he asked: “What is the need to involve business practices in a holy shrine? If this is not for commission, then why will they replace free service to pay others.”

TTD Executive Officer, K.S. Jawahar Reddy, recently took oath as the Chairman of specified authority, and Additional EO, A.V. Dharma Reddy, as Convener of specified authority.

The Andhra Pradesh government set up the specified authority for the TTD following the expiry of the tenure of TTD’s Board of Trustees.

Can’t Jagan’s ministers afford to buy cars?

2

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh has already pushed AP into a severe financial crisis within two years of coming to power.

Today AP tops in India in taking loans from banks and various financial instutions.

The recent CAG report also certified that AP is No.1 in loans.

Despite this, the Jagan government is least bothered to put state’s financial condition on track by adopting strict financial discipline.

It continues to waste public money for the benefit of YSRCP leaders.

Latest, Jagan government issued a GO (government order) extending Rs 20 lakh financial assistance to ministers in YSRCP government to purchase cars.

Earlier the limit was Rs 10 lakh which the Jagan government has now increased to Rs 20 lakh.

One wonders whether ministers are so poor in AP that they cannot afford to buy even cars on their own and need government’s financial assistance to purchase cars.

Already YSRCP ministers, MLAs and other leaders are accused of minting crores of rupees every month through illegal sand mining, liquor business, mining business etc and what not.

Leave ministers, even their family members and friends are roaming in luxurious cars worth several crores of rupees.

Where is the need for government to extend financial assistance to YSRP ministers, MLAs, MLCs to buy cars?

Andhra govt supporting conversion for electoral benefits: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh is supporting the conversion of a sizable population of the state into Christianity.

BJP National secretary and co-incharge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar said that the YSRCP government is strategically promoting conversion in the state to create a dedicated electorate on the basis of religion.

Deodhar told IANS that Reddy is planning to convert a sizable population into Christianity and thinking about winning the next few elections with their support. “Reddy thinks a large Christian population will ensure electoral victory and his continuity as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. To achieve this, he turned a blind eye to reports of mass conversions,” he said.

Deodhar claimed that the morale of people involved in conversion is high with support of the state government. “Mass conversion is routine and it is done openly. We object to such a thing happening under the patronage of the state government,” he alleged.

Deodhar further alleged that Reddy wants everyone to become Christian in Andhra Pradesh. “Large scale mass conversion is going on in Andhra Pradesh and the state government’s failure to act against it has supported it. Hoardings and posters about mass conversion are visible in the state but no action has been taken against anyone. When someone objects, posters or hoardings are removed but the administration does not take action against such acts on its own,” Deodhar further said.

According to Deodhar, a large number of people who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community who have converted to Christianity still write “Hindu” as religion in their official documents to get government benefits of reservation.

“Taking SC benefits being Christian is illegal and anti-Christianity. Such an act is also against the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is also injustice to the SC community of Andhra Pradesh who still follow Hinduism,” he said.

Deodhar pointed out that such people who follow Christianity and still take advantage of SC reservation must be identified. “Video recording people attending Churches and scrutiny of attendance register must be done to identify these people who are lying to take benefits SC reservations,” he demanded.

No relief for Jagan Govt in house motion before High Court

0

The Andhra Pradesh High Court refused to pass urgent orders in the house motion moved by the Jagan Reddy Government on the issue of panchayat elections. However, the court postponed the hearing to Monday. The lack of immediate relief from the court came as a minor setback to the Government.

Already, the election code of conduct came into force from today itself. State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was sticking to his decision to go ahead with the elections. There were serious counter reactions from all sections in the Government but still the SEC was determined to conduct the elections as per the schedule.

Now, just like in many other instances in the past, the YCP Government once again challenged the SEC decision on the February local polls before the High Court. Since there was not enough time to approach the Supreme Court, the Government immediately opted for the house motion.

The local polls issue was already heard in the High Court. It was based on the orders of the court itself that AP Chief Secretary Adityanath Das along with other officials met with the SEC personally. However, the differences between the SEC and the Government remained unresolved.

The SEC had also accused the Government on record of deliberately postponing the local polls in order to hold the same after his retirement after March. Ramesh Kumar also blamed YCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy for announcing that local polls would be held after April.
