Hindi TV premiere of ‘Bangarraju’, starring Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya, on July 6

0

The Hindi premiere of Telugu blockbuster movie ‘Bangarraju’ is slated for July 6, on Zee Cinema. The movie, directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, was released earlier during the Sankranti season in Telugu, creating much buzz at the theatres.

Now that the father-son — Naga Chaitanya and Nagarjuna — starrer is gearing up for its Hindi premieres, the duo has expressed their excitement.

Nagarjuna said that the fantasy-themed movie Bangarraju turned out to be a great hit, as it has all the aspects of entertainment in it.

“The audience determines whether a film succeeds or fails. Bangarraju is a movie made with the general public in mind. Women, children, and elders will find it enjoyable,” Nagarjuna said.

Nagarjuna went on to explain that “The idea of a regular person suddenly becoming a superhero in movies like Spiderman and Superman has always captivated me, and with our movie, we’re bringing that idea to the general public. It’s a fantasy-themed family entertainment with some incredibly astonishing components.”

The Manmadhudu actor also said that “Witnessing your child excel in their career makes you happy every time. Since Chaitanya has always been meticulous, I’ll admit I’m a little envious of his success in landing that position.”

Naga Chaitanya, on the other hand, expressed his happiness over the Hindi release of Bangarraju, “The hero of today’s movies is content, and we are finding our places in that. I’ve never played a part like the one I have in Bangarraju, so it was difficult at first, but I got used to it. ”

The Majili actor explained further: “You’ll appreciate viewing this movie with your family. It was enjoyable to play a game in a paranormal setting, and it was much more enjoyable to do it with my father. We have previously collaborated, therefore we are familiar with each other’s workspace.”

Not what the script said: Poor scripts lead to string of Tollywood failures after ‘Pushpa’, ‘RRR’

0

Big stars, eminent directors and big budgets can’t guarantee success of a film and this has been proved by a string of failures in Tollywood after the smashing success of ‘Pushpa’.

Big stars, eminent directors and big budgets can’t guarantee success of a film and this has been proved by a string of failures in Tollywood after the smashing success of ‘Pushpa’.

The last four months saw several eagerly awaited movies hitting the screen but barring S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ starring Junior NTR and Ram Charan, others either bombed at the box-office or registered average success.

Chiranjeevi, arguably the biggest name in Tollywood, could not guarantee a great opening for ‘Acharya’.

Starring megastar Chiranjeevi in the lead and his son Ram Charan in an extended cameo, the movie directed by Koratala Siva was released on April 29 to a lukewarm response at the box office. Negative reviews saw a huge drop in the movie’s collection in the first four days.

It disappointed even in Telugu states. In Andhra Pradesh it opened to increased ticket prices for the first week as per the policy of the state government for big-budget movies. However, so poor is the performance of ‘Acharya’ that trade analysts believe its business may end within this week.

Despite the hype around the movie due to the presence of the father-son duo and a large number of their fans thronging theatres in the first week-end, it failed to live up to the expectations.

Those who track Tollywood say that Acharya could end up as one of the biggest disasters of 2022.

A cliched story and dated narrative without effective emotions resulted in the huge disappointment for Chiranjeevi’s fans who had high expectations with this maiden collaboration between megastar and successful director Koratala Siva.

This was the second famous father-son duo to flop at the box-office. Earlier, this year ‘Bangarraju’ starring Nagarjuna and his son Naga Chaitanya came as a disappointment. While their fans were excited to see them together on the screen, this could not save the movie based on a done and dusted script of a supernatural drama. Kalyan Krishna made this as a sequel to ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ (2016) which starred Nagarjuna in a dual role and was commercially successful.

Another big disaster this year is ‘Radhe Shyam’ starring Baahubali fame Prabhas in the lead. The multi-lingual period romantic drama failed to live up to the high expectations.

Starring Prabhas in the role of a world-famous palmist, ‘Radhe Shyam’ in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil had hit the screens on March 11. Despite stunning visuals, grand outdoors, visual effects, romance and good music, the movie bombed due to cliched story.

‘Bheemla Nayak’ starring Pawan Kalyan and ‘Baahubali’ fame Daggubati Rana was another much-anticipated movie to hit the screens in February.

It was a Telugu remake of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ (2020), a Malayalam language action thriller. Unlike ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, which was about clash of egos between two men, it was Pawan Kalyan who dominated ‘Bheemla Nayak’. Rana’s role was played down to allow power star, as the brother of Chiranjeevi is popularly known in film circles, take the centre stage.

Romantic comedy ‘DJ Tillu’ starring young actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Neha Shetty in the lead also did average business.

Leading actor Ravi Teja starrer ‘Khiladi’ turned out to be a flop. Released theatrically along with a Hindi dubbed version on February 11 this movie, written and directed by Ramesh Varma.

Industry analysts say poor script is the main reason for many Telugu films bombing at the box office after the grand success of ‘Pushpa’. “The strength of the script makes a film successful. If somebody comes with a loose script and uninteresting script, automatically the film flops. No matter how big a star is and how good a director is, it all depends on the strength of the script. Nobody can save a film if the script is poor,” says film analyst Prabhu.

He believes that a film can succeed only if the script makes the audience sit in theatres without losing their attention.

The film critic, however, adds that a subject a filmmaker chooses is not the entire story. “Whatever line you take, it needs to have some interesting scenes. 10-15 interesting scenes elevate a movie. Lack of strength in the scenes is the main cause of failure. There are no other reasons because the filmmaking standards are very high, wonderful and far ahead,” he opined.

The expert says one can’t blame artists for a film’s failure as all stars are proven artists. It all depends on the script and character an artist gets.

“We can’t blame artists. Actor is like water which takes the shape of a vessel. It all depends on the capability of the director, how best he moulds the character and how best he creates interest in the character,” he said.

According to Prabhu, even ‘Pushpa’ did not have a great script but the way Allu Arjun inculcated the strength, the density of character, a rough and tough wild character and his mannerism helped. “This film has highlighted the smuggler’s character and glorified it. This shows the film does well even if the bad character is portrayed in an intensive and interesting manner,” he added.

Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya-starrer ‘Bangarraju’ OTT release locked

0

Superhit movie ‘Bangarraju’, which had hit the screens in January, is all set to start streaming on the OTT platform soon.

Starring Nagarjuna-Naga Chaitanya, the father-son duo, ‘Bangarraju’ had entertained the audience quite well at the theatres.

Reports suggest that the Kalyan Krishna Kusarala directorial ‘Bangarraju’ will start streaming on Zee5 from February 18.

January 2022: Poor Start for Tollywood

0

2021 left the film industry in huge losses due to the coronavirus pandemic. The producers are left under huge stress because of the delays and the heaping up interests. December 2021 has been quite good after the month reported three hits in the form of Akhanda, Pushpa and Shyam Singha Roy. The crucial Sankranthi season is badly missed this year as there are no prominent releases except Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya’s Bangarraju. January started on a dull note with ten releases and nine flops.

Bangarraju reported decent footfalls during the Sankranthi season because of the stars. Before this, Aasha Encounter, Induvadhana, 1945 and Athididevobhava released during the first week of January. All these films ended up as disasters. Other Sankranthi releases Rowdy Boys and Hero ended up as flops and failed to make an impact. They failed to recover the huge budgets too. Kalyaan Dhev’s Super Machi failed to screen shows as they were no footfalls. Keerthy Suresh tested her luck with Good Luck Sakhi and the word of mouth is quite poor.

The film too will fail to recover the publicity expenses. This adds one more debacle for Keerthy Suresh. On the whole, January 2022 started on a dull note and Tollywood has high hopes on February.

The film has slowed down in A.P as well but the job was done for the buyers in the first week here. in the USA, the film is struggling to collect 300 thousand which is disastrous. The film can be termed as above average at best, thanks to own release in Nizam.

Bangarraju First Week Worldwide Collections

Bangarraju has a decent first week worldwide, thanks to Coastal Andhra which has done well. Worldwide distributor share of the film by the end of its first week stands at 28.70 Cr. The film is a disaster in both Nizam & Overseas markets. The rest of India markets were affected by the weekend lockdown or Sunday lockdown but the film hasn’t done well wherever it was open. This is the highest first-week share for Nagarjuna and second-highest for Naga Chaitanya behind Love Story. There is no competition for the film in its second week and also has an advantage of republic day holiday.

Bangarraju Successmeet: Nag thanks YS Jagan

Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya starter Bangarraju released during the Sankranthi season and the film reported massive numbers all over during the holiday weekend. A grand success meet of the film took place last night in Rajahmundry and AP Minister Kurasala Kanna Babu along with Rajahmundry MP Margani Bharat attended the event as Special guests. After the night restrictions and 50 percent occupancy are pushed away from the season, Nagarjuna heaped praises on AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

During his speech, Nagarjuna said “I spoke to my close friend Megastar Chiranjeevi who met YS Jagan recently. He said that the good days for the film industry are ahead. Thank you YS Jagan garu” told Nagarjuna. He also thanked his fans for making Bangarraju a blockbuster. There is criticism that the night curfews and 50 percent occupancy rule are postponed for the benefit of Bangarraju as Nag shares a close bonding with YS Jagan. The veteran actor strategically heaped praises on YS Jagan and thanked him during several recent events and made statements that the ticket pricing GO is not a barrier for his film Bangarraju.

Bangarraju is directed by Kalyan Krishna and the film featured Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Ramya Krishna and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles. Annapurna Studios and Zee Studios jointly produced Bangarraju.

Controversial AP minister to attend ‘Bangarraju’ success bash

0

The makers of ‘Bangarraju’ have invited Andhra Pradesh Cinematography Minister Perni Nani to celebrate the success of the movie.

The success event of the Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya-starrer is to take place in Rajahmundry on Tuesday.

Grand arrangements have been made at the venue – Marganni Estate Grounds, at VL Puram, Rajahmundry, to celebrate the blockbuster success of the movie. It is reported that Nagarjuna has invited the AP minister to attend the event as the chief guest.

While the movie ticket price issue in Andhra Pradesh has stirred much controversy, Nagarjuna openly spoke out on the issue. He also mentioned that ‘Bangarraju’ would not see any impact with regard to the ongoing issue.

Now that the ‘Bangarraju’ success event is to be attended by the controversial minister, folks from the Telugu movie industry aren’t quite happy with this.

AP Cinematography Minister Perni Nani has been in the news ever since the movie ticket prices were slashed in the state. Though many movie celebrities met him to discuss the same, there was not much the minister did for the film industry.

So it will be very interesting to see what Perni Nani would say at the ‘Bangarraju’ success meet.

Four days total of the film now stands at 23.90 Cr. 50 percent occupancy and night curfew have come into effect in AP from today which will affect the collections.

Bangarraju has a decent first weekend worldwide as the film has collected a distributor share of 22.40 Cr. The film has done good business in A.P but it’s very average elsewhere. It will aided by the festive leftovers today and tomorrow in A.P. Nizam is underperforming from the opening day itself. At this rate the film won’t even touch double digit mark in this area. Karnataka is affected by the weekend lockdown as the film has revenue on both Saturday and Sunday. The film is performing so so in the overseas market.

Telugu360 Rating 2.5/5

Nagarjuna and his son Naga Chaitanya are teaming up for Bangarraju, the sequel for Soggade Chinni Nayana. The movie is a hilarious rural entertainer that is directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala. Ramya Krishna and Krithi Shetty are paired up beside Nag and Chaitanya in the film. Fariah Abdullah, Daksha Nagarkar, Darshana Banik, Simrat Kaur and Meenakshi Dixit will be seen in cameo roles. The music composed by Anup Rubens gained a decent response from the audience. Zee Studios in association with Annapurna Studios are the producers of Bangarraju. The film is releasing in good number of screens on January 14th. Here is the review of the film:

Story:
Bangarraju has similar fictional plot as its prequel 2016 hit film ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’. Bangarraju (Sr.Nagarjuna) is sent by Lord Yama (Naga Babu) to the earth on a special mission. At the same time Peddha Bangarraju’s wife Ramya Krishna wants their Grand son Chinna Bangarraju (Naga Chaitanya) to marry his uncle’s daughter Nagalaksmi ( Krithi Shetty) . She assigns the task to Nag to settle the scores between ever quarrelling young duo. Rest of the story is how Nag completes his task

Analysis:

This film is not only a sequel to ‘Soggade chinni nayana’ but copies the same template. In ‘Soggade..’ Nag fixes his son’s love life and in this film it is all about fixing Grandson’s marriage. The first half the film is pretty average as most of it is occupied by Krithi shetty’s village sarpanch thread. Her quarrel scenes with bava Bangarraju are unimpressive. The attempted comedy scenes are failed to generate required entertainment. Even though it is a fictional story few scenes appear illogical. The villainism this time is by the gang which attempt to dig the temple’s jewel treasure. Second half is equally flat if we measure by the script but few mass elements are aptly stuffed at regular intervals. The scene in which Chay saves a kid from an Ox, the climax episodes, and the last song of the film all add to paisa vasool for B C center crowd. Fans will like the scenes written for Nag.

Nag as producer has spent good budget on the film especially for the songs. Songs are the USP of this film. They are done colorfully and appealing to the fans and masses. Anup Rubens music works for the songs

Performances:

Nagarjuna plays triple variation roles in this film with so ease. He definitely walks away with all the credits in the film. Naga Chaitanya looks good but performance wise dominated by Nag. Krithi Shetty is Cute as Nagalakshmi but due to not so adequate characterization, she is unable to make a positive impression. Ramya Krishna role is T fit for her and she is good. Nagarjuna, Chay, Ramyakrishna cast definitely add value to the film.

Positives:
– Nagarjuna
– Colorful Songs
-Mass elements in second half

Negatives:
– Lack of comedy entertainment to appeal the regular audience
– Very predictable plot

Verdict:

‘Bangarraju ‘is a routine script which is somewhat compensated by colorful songs, Nagarjuna and Chay presence. The attempted comedy hardly brings any laughter, there is absolutely no freshness nor creativity in the script. At Box-office ,Sankranti season might bring some revenue at B C Centers . A decent watch for fans!
