Election Commission on Chandrababu Naidu:

All possible doors to come out of this infamous cash-for-vote scam seem to be closed to TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu. It is known that he has been bringing in the name of Election Commission and questioning as to how ACB would be handling the matter that’s in the purview of EC.

Apparently, Election Commission wrote to the ACB wherein it reportedly mentioned that there was need for in-depth investigation and none would be exempted if proved guilty.

Naidu Takes His Cue From KCR

0

HYDERABAD: Every aspect of modern culture of the Telugu lands  is too deeply steeped in the mire of politics. Celebration and denigration are politically motivated in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Media is no exception.

Now, journalists from Andhra Pradesh accuse chief minister Naidu’s government of gagging the media. They said the news channel NTV had been blacked out in the state. They allege that the cable operators have stopped telecasting the news channel in all the districts of AP just because the channel took anti-TDP stance while reporting the cash-for-vote scam.

Banning the “critical” voice is not new in these part of India. Last year, Telangana government reportedly influenced the cable TV operators to stop telecasting of news channels TV9 and ABN in the new state. Because, they alleged, these channels were working against the interests of T-people. Even though the undeclared ban has been lifted on TV9, ABN is still in the blacklist.

While condemning the repression unleashed on the media, we also feel it is our duty to highlight, with equal measure, the audience’s right to receive unadulterated and unbiased news through media outlets, which is not happening in this region.  There is no newspaper or news channel among the toppers that is not owned by political leaders or their supporters. In fact, these newspapers and channels defend their political masters more virulently than the spokespersons of the respective parties. Ask any man on the street of any village or town in AP and TS he would list out names of politicians running the newspapers and channels.

When do the Telugu people get unbiased information so that they can have the freedom to decide upon whom they can support or dump in the dust bin.

0

Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao has met the governor today. As speculations are already rife over the cash-for-vote scam, this meeting is hogging limelight.
The sources said that KCR is likely to brief governor on the developments of cash for vote scam. Earlier, TDP alleged that governor ESL Narasimhan was acting in favour of Telangana government.
How TDP is going to look at this meeting is a million dollar question now. It has to be mentioned here that Chandrababu Naidu met the governor’s advisers APVN Sharma and AK Mohanty last night. Reports indicated that the duo told governor that they were called by Babu on a personal level.

Where is Prashninche Pawan Kalyan?

0

The opposition YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh is ensuring that no stone is left unrolled in cash for vote scam. The party that is making best use of the issue is not only taking on TDP and its supremo Chandrababu Naidu but even its allies.
YSRCP legislator, Sridhar Reddy has questioned as to where Pawan Kalyan who came with the motto “Prashninchadaniki” (meaning to question) when TDP’s leaders allegedly involved in cash for vote scam.
It is known that Pawan Kalyan had set up Janasena party that supported BJP and subtly Chandrababu Naidu in Telugu states. Why Pawan Kalyan is remaining mute over the issue is not only being questioned by YSRCP but even common people.
Let us wait and watch if this power star will now at least condemn cash for vote episode.

BJP in Trouble Over Sushma’s Episode? Will it Back Babu Now?

0

The ruling BJP seems to be in deep trouble as its key leader and union external affairs minister admitted that her role in the grant of UK visa to tainted IPL former chief Lalit Modi.
The Congress and other allies of UPA are already staging protests outside the residence of Sushma Swaraj demanding her resignation. This sensational revelation of Swaraj has not only kept the ruling party at power but also gave a powerful weapon total Congress.
Now that BJP has apparently fallen into defense, what will happen to its ally TDP-which is embroiled in cash for vote scam- in Andhra Prades has now become an interesting debate.

Earlier, there were reports that Centre would protect Chandrababu Naidu. Now that Sushma’s episode hit the headlines, will they really involve themselves in another trouble is a million dollar question!

Special Status to AP Pushed into Pipeline Over Cash-for-Vote Scam?

0

When the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh entered the parliament, everyone had one question—what would be the condition of residuary Andhra Pradesh as Telangana would retain Hyderabad.

Instead of fighting and debating on the prospects of Andhra—including Rayalaseema region, all the MPs from Seemandhra were giving their best shot for obstructing the formation of Telangana state, which was unavoidable given the political and socio-economic factors that lead to the movement decades ago.

At last the Congress government, on noticing that Andhra shouldn’t face the situation they earlier faced—setting up tents at Kurnool—when they were divided from Madras presidency, UPA Government then said that Hyderabad would be the common capital of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state.

Technical limitations:

People and leaders from Andhra region were pacified with the move. However, they chose to ignore the very important factor—territorial boundaries.

Also, Telangana state was formed with 10 districts, which includes Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medak districts that form the Nawabi City Hyderabad. This would simply mean that the revenue generated in Hyderabad would not be shared with Andhra Pradesh.

Technically, Andhra Pradesh was given a facility to run their governance from Hyderabad as they had no proper infrastructure (as quoted by many leaders) to run their government services–that too for a period not extending ten years.

Special status:

On noticing the same, the opposition NDA—BJP in particular pressed for special status for Andhra Pradesh for a period of ten years. After an extensive debate in Rajya Sabha with Venkaiah Naidu highting the need for recognizing the residuary state as special one, the UPA Government then nodded for special status for AP.

Pushed into the pipeline:

After BJP came to power at the Centre, the special status issue was slowly burried. The opposition YSRCP has been demanding Chandrababu Naidu for exerting pressure on the Centre over the same but to no avail.

Cash-for-vote scam:

The economic experts observed that Chandrababu Naidu, who is meeting key officials, is only concerned about protecting his image and his power as he’s just trying to demand for the implementation of ‘president’s law and order’ in Hyderabad.

What economic benefit will Andhra Pradesh have if all power and action by Andhra Pradesh is invested on that issue remains to be a debatable issue.
The political observers opined that the entire cash for vote episode has pushed the special status into the pipeline.

TDP must have worked towards the economic grants that the state deserve instead of involving in a political mudslinging and allegedly provoking people with words such as—you have ACB, I have ACB.  By taking up this petty political battle to Delhi, instead of facing the investigation and moving the court,  the chances of Chandrababu Naidu convincing the Centre over special status have presumably become grim.

It is hightime that Babu’s sarkar open its eyes to economic challenges that Andhra Pradesh is going to face over ignoring the special status to the state.

KCR’s Dilemma: To Dilute and Not to Dilute the Cash-for-vote Case

0

Telangana chief minister K Chadrasekhar Rao is grappling with a Hamletian dilemma: to dilute the cash-for-vote (CFV) case or not, in order not to implicate his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu in the case.

The central BJP is said to have advised him against going overboard on the case and vitiating the relations between the two states.

The advice, reportedly delivered to KCR through Governor ESL Narasimhan and some informal channels, if ignored, has the potential of shattering the dream of KCR to see his daughter and Nizambad Lok Sabha member Kavita in the union cabinet.

Though there has been no love lost between Telangana BJP and KCR, the central BJP is understood to have responded positively to the friendly vibes from the TRS recently. For quite some time TRS has been sending signals to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amith Shah about its intension to join the NDA. KCR’s daughter, Kavita has gone on record that her party would have no objection to join NDA cabinet as it would help the nascent state get more assistance from the centre.  “If Prime Minister Modi invites me to join the cabinet we will consider it,” she told media some time back.

Highly placed sources in BJP told this correspondent that Modi was also not disinclined to take the TRS on board.

“The only hitch is TRS connections with MIM. We want the TRS to distance itself from MIM publicly to join the NDA government. The moment TRS jettisons the MIM, it is welcome to join the NDA cabinet,” informed BJP sources said.

TRS is not ready severe it relations with MIM before GHMC elections as it needs the support of Muslim minorities in Greater Hyderabad Municiapl Corporation (GHMC) area to win the election.  GHMC is the testing ground for TRS’ real influence in the capital where Andhra settlers outnumber the Telangana people. It was proven in 2014 Assembly elections when TRS ended up as poor third.  So, a defeat in GHMC elections would weaken his grip over the capital which in course of time undermine the chances of its return in 2019.

So, the TRS doesn’t want to antagonize Muslim minorities by jettisoning MIM before GHMC polls. It is said to have conveyed to BJP leadership in Delhi that it could not afford to do it  before GHMC elections. Though Kavita’s joining the cabinet has been put off for the time being, two parties are enjoy cordial relations.

Now, chief minister KCR has to choose between the BJP’s advice against implicating Naidu in CFV case or pursue his anti-Naidu politics and fall from grace of Prime Minister Modi. Pursuing latter course may put the dream of getting a cabinet berth for Kavita at risk.

Lokesh Naidu’s Alleged Involvement in Cash for Vote Scam?

0

Cash-for-vote scam seems to be taking new turn everyday as the credible sources said that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths are gearing up for attaching an additional FIR in the case after interrogating the main accused in the case, Revanth Reddy.

If the sources have to be believed, the name of Chandrababu Naidu’s son is now surfacing as Lokesh Naidu (Babu’s son) has reportedly spoken to the nominated MLA Stephenson from the mobile of the fourth accused in the case Muthaiah, who has been absconding.

Further, the sources said that ACB is investigating in all possible angles as to how the arrested MLA got Rs. 50,000—that was seized in the sting operation earlier this month. Apparently, ACB is presumably believing that there could be hands of hawala in this entire episode with Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao alleging that TDP fielded at least five teams to overthrow their governance, out of which one team was caught red-handedly by the ACB. In connection to the same, ACB is likely to question two kingpins of hawala—one in Basheerbagh and the other in Abids.

Reports further indicated that the bureau is likely to file the additional chargesheet in next two days. Whether Chandrababu Naidu’s name will be included in the FIR or not has now become a topic of the town. We have to wait for two more days to know the developments of this case. Until then keep checking this space for minute to minute updates on cash-for-vote scam.

Yellow Leaders’ Illogical Statements Put TDP at Stake

0

TDP leaders who are reacting on cash-for-vote scam are not only making statements that are confusing and contradictory but even funny at times.

It is known how Parakala Prabhakar and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu gave contradictory statements on the issue.

Then entered Chandrababu Naidu into the scene who said that KCR’s Government will fall if he’s arrested. This line not only sounded funny but illogical. While Telangana Government or KCR didn’t send any signals of arrest, it was Chandrababu who spoke his heart out with a national news channel.

Now, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy went an extra mile and made a sensational statement that can apparently put party and him in serious trouble.

Taking on TRS party vehemently, Somireddy alleged that TRS was obstructing the bail of Revanth Reddy. How can a political party influence the court? Doesn’t he know that the Constitution of India facilitates independent and integrated judiciary? Is he trying create doubts among the people on the functioning of courts?—these are a few questions that are being discussed among lawyers who gather at tea stalls outside courts.

Legal experts said that Somireddy can face Contempt of Court for his alleged statements that are rival on the electronic media.

Naidu Launches Campaign Against Phone Tapping In Delhi

0

Upping the ante against Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chanrdrababu Naidu has launched his campaign against the  phone tapping in New Delhi.

On Wednesday he had a breakfast meeting with union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu where he discussed the Reventh Reddy episode and phone tapping T-government.  Venkaiah is expected to brief union home minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah. Naidu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi at 4 pm and Shah at 5.30 pm.  He will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee at 7 PM.

Naidu’s plan is to weather away the  negative fall out of cash-for-vote-sting operation conducted by T-ACB on TDP MLA Revenath Reddy with an effective campaign against the tapping of AP chief minister phone by Telangana government.

Though bold-faced initially, the T-government appears to have realised that he was going overboard, started denying phone tapping.
