Pawan rushes to Delhi, heats up AP politics!

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday (today) rushed to Delhi.

His sudden visit to Delhi raised political heat as this fuelled speculations that Pawan is going to meet top national-level BJP leaders in Delhi and discuss about the present political condition in Andhra Pradesh.

Jana Sena party sources say Pawan rushed to Delhi on the invitation of union minister Pralhad Joshi.

Pawan will meet Joshi as well as few other union ministers and BJP leaders in Delhi.

It is speculated that BJP’s national leadership has called Pawan to Delhi to discuss on a strategy on how to strengthen ties between Jana Sena and BJP in Andhra Pradesh and how to take on the ruling YSRCP jointly in the state.

Pawan’s visit to Delhi and meeting BJP leaders assumed significance in the backdrop of reports that all is not well between Pawan and BJP and he is planning to sever ties with BJP and fight individually against YSRCP in AP.

AP Bhavan in Delhi: KCR’s ‘return gift’ to Jagan?

It appears that Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao has given AP Bhavan in Delhi as ‘return gift’ to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Since the bifurcation of AP in 2014, KCR has been demanding Centre to allot AP Bhavan in Delhi to Telangana arguing that this property was donated by Hyderabad State ruler Nizam and AP has no rights on this building.

After bifurcation of AP, both the states are sharing this building.

But on Friday (yesterday) when KCR met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, KCR requested PM to allot land in Delhi for Telangana government to construct its official bhavan Telangana Bhavan.

This clearly shows that KCR has given up TS government’s rights on AP Bhavan and agreed to allot this building to only AP government.

Political circles see this development as KCR leaving AP Bhavan to AP government in return for Jagan leaving AP’s Secretaries buildings in Hyderabad to Telangana unconditionally soon after he became CM in June 2019 which enabled KCR to demolish all those buildings and construct a brand new Telangana Secretariat complex in its place.

KCR lays foundation stone for TRS office in Delhi

Reaching a new milestone, two-decade-old Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Thursday began work on its office building in New Delhi.

Telangana Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao laid the foundation stone for the party building at Vasant Vihar.

Amid the chanting of Vedic hymns by priests and with elaborate religious rituals, the foundation was laid at the auspicious time of 1.48 p.m.

KCR’s cabinet colleagues, MPs, state legislators and several party leaders attended the ceremony. TRS is claimed to be the first political party from South India to open its office in Delhi.

The TRS chief along with some top party leaders had reached Delhi by a special aircraft on Wednesday.

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, who is son of KCR, had already reached the national capital to supervise the arrangements for the foundation stone laying ceremony.

Coming up on 1,100 square meters of land, the TRS office will be called Telangana Bhavan, like its state headquarters in Hyderabad.

State minister for roads and buildings V. Prashanth Reddy said the three-storeyed building will have a conference hall, library and audio-visual theater.

He said the TRS office in the national capital will serve as a research centre for the country. The minister said Telangana Bhavan will be a platform in Delhi to highlight the revolutionary welfare and schemes being implemented in Telangana.

Rama Rao described the foundation stone laying of TRS office as a significant development for the party, which completed 20 years in April.

KCR himself is overseeing the design and execution of the project, which is being planned in a manner that would stand out as a symbol of self-respect of Telangana. The building will cater to the needs of TRS leaders and activists visiting the national capital. Party sources said it would also be accessible to the people of Telangana who are in Delhi, during distress.

The Centre had allotted land for TRS office last year but the foundation stone laying was delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The land allotment was made as per the rules, which prescribe that all political parties with a minimum of seven members in Parliament are eligible for allotment of land for their party office in Delhi.

TRS, which has 16 members in Parliament, was allotted two plots measuring 550 square meters by the land and development office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

3,000 Vizag steel plant supporters to protest in Delhi in August

As many as 3,000 workers opposed to the central government’s privatisation plan of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant are planning to protest at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

“As many as 3,000 workers will leave for Delhi on July 31st and we plan to protest on August 2-3 at Jantar Mantar,” said a worker on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, around 10 VSP workers union leaders are leaving for Delhi to meet opposition party floor leaders in the Parliament and explain about the steel plant and their opposition to its sale plan.

“We will explain the loss that would occur to Visakhapatnam and workers. We will also explain whom the Centre is planning to benefit with this sale,” said a protester.

According to the protesters, Rajya Sabha member and Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader V. Vijayasai Reddy has already assured that he would facilitate meetings with all the political parties’ floor leaders in the Parliament, including the new steel minister.

VSP employees and workers have resolved that they will fight until the central government takes back its privatisation plan.

Several workers fear that privatising the steel plant will lead to the non-implementation of reservation benefits.

“Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-ruled state government is also negotiating with the Centre to continue the steel plant as a government organisation,” he said.

Protesters are venting their anger at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for reiterating its plan to sell away the steel plant in the latest Parliament session.

They noted that the Centre is doing this despite VSP putting up an excellent performance.

Another supporter, who fought for the steel plant as a student, observed that the onus of protecting the steel plant also lies on the shoulders of Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

Jagan reminds Modi about Special status

YSR Congress Party (YCP) supremo and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy who was denied appointments last month in Delhi finally met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. He raised several issues in the letter addressed to Modi including defections of MLAs, Agri Gold Scam, Chilli farmer woes and granting special category status. YCP has published a book “Emperor of Corruption” detailing all the corrupt and mal-practices of Chandrababu Naidu

Special category status

Jagan reminded Modi about BJP’s major poll promise of granting special category status to AP. He said that the members of 14th finance commission confirmed that it has removed the distinction between SCS and others only in regard with post revenue deficit grants and not erstwhile issues. The YCP chief said even in the 14th finance commission award, SCS states are getting their share of grants and devolution including 100percent tax exemption and special provisions in the GST bill. He requested him to honour the commitment put forth in the BJP Manifesto.

Owes of Chilly farmers

Welcoming the move taken by the NDA government to purchase chilly at 5000 rupees per quintal, Jagan urged that the state government should come forward to add 3000 rupees and purchase chilly at 8000 rupees per quintal along with 1250rupees per quintal for transportation and incidental charges. He also requested to increase the quantity to be purchased from 10% of produce to 50% to create competitive market.

Defections of MLAs

Jagan mentioned that 20members from his party have defected to the ruling TDP and petitions requesting disqualification under 10th schedule of the constitution are spending with Speaker. He said that the anti-defection law has been ridiculed and requested Modi’s intervention. Ironically, Jagan alleged that TDP is indulging in unabated corruption in irrigation contracts, coal and power purchases and temple lands. He did mention about “vote for note” case.

Agrigold scam

Jagan accused the government of taking undue advantage in selling the Agrigold properties. He alleged that the CID investigation is skewed and requested for CBI investigation. He said that the state is trying to protect few Ministers, MPs and influential people.

Media reports say ESL Narasimhan, Joint Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, has been summoned to New Delhi. He is leaving for the national capital this afternoon. According to reports, he is scheduled to call on union home minister Rajnath Singh this evening. The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of raging controversy over the implementation of Section 8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act-2014. This provision empowers the Governor to oversees the law and orders and other issues in Joint Capital region of successor states of  erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. While AP demands empowering Governor with Section 8, Telangana is opposing tooth and nail, and wants abrogation of the provision.

TDP Uses Brahmastram Against Governor, Repents Later

As cash-for-vote scam involving TDP legislator from Telangana region is intensifying with ACB reportedly getting a letter from the election commission asking its sleuths for a stringent probe, TDP leaders are trying to use all their brahmastrams.

It is known that TDP folks recently brought in section eight of AP Reorganisation Act into the picture. As Governor ESL Narasimhan is not responding despite TDP supremo Chandrababu meeting him time and again over the implementation of governor’s law and order in Hyderabad, the party leaders chose to target ESL Narasimhan, the constitutional head of the state.

TDP senior leader Acham Naidu recently, in a press meet, addressed the governor as ‘you’ (without a pinch of respect) and said that he was acting as a ‘gangireddu’ (meaning a bull). Lashing out at governor, Acham Naidu said why governor was tight lipped when KCR said that Andhra Pradesh police cannot execute their duties in Hyderabad.

Centre Serious:

The Centre, which noticed these severe objectionable comments made by Acham Naidu against the governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, has reportedly warned AP chief secretary that TDP leaders were launching verbal attacks against the governor.

Acham Naidu Apologizes and Withdraws:

After learning that Centre expressed its serious concerns over derogatory comments he made against governor, Acham Naidu spoke to the media and said that he was apologetic about the statements he made. He elucidated that he made those remarks only in agony after he looked at the situation of Andhra Pradesh. In case my statements had hurt governor, I withdraw them immediately, added Acham Naidu.

Need for Naidu to Control Leaders:

It is known that TDP leaders are speaking whatever they want that are sometimes lacking logic and sounding contradictory. Earlier, Parakala Prabhakar, who spoke about cash for vote scam has said that the voice in the audio tapes was not that of Chandrababu Naidu. Shortly, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the audio was fabricated.

Even as these leaders continue to make contradictory statements, TDP MLC Somireddy went a step ahead and said that TRS was obstructing the bail of Revant Reddy. How can a political party influence the court was the question then. He was allegedly trying to send wrong messages to people on courts, which was again a matter of serious concern,

This confusion among leaders must be curtained. It is high time for Chandrababu Naidu to bring in a proper code of conduct within the party. Verbal attacks on political leaders are at times acceptable as criticism, however, using the same policy for courts, constitutional heads and constitution is highly not acceptable.

Naidu Launches Campaign Against Phone Tapping In Delhi

Upping the ante against Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chanrdrababu Naidu has launched his campaign against the  phone tapping in New Delhi.

On Wednesday he had a breakfast meeting with union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu where he discussed the Reventh Reddy episode and phone tapping T-government.  Venkaiah is expected to brief union home minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah. Naidu is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi at 4 pm and Shah at 5.30 pm.  He will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee at 7 PM.

Naidu’s plan is to weather away the  negative fall out of cash-for-vote-sting operation conducted by T-ACB on TDP MLA Revenath Reddy with an effective campaign against the tapping of AP chief minister phone by Telangana government.

Though bold-faced initially, the T-government appears to have realised that he was going overboard, started denying phone tapping.
