Is it a battle between experience and inexperience?

1

For Pawan Kalyan, it’s the first election he is fighting in his capacity as the president of a political party. He thought of springing surprises with his alliance with Mayawati and the Left. But it was not enough so far as the minuscule impact they left in election campaign. As a result, his own Kapu community is deciding to prefer the best among the two main contending parties in most segments.

For Jaganmohan Reddy, this is the second election in his hot pursuit of his life’s goal to become the chief minister. He has got a little experience but it is a big question whether YSR’s son has learnt any lessons from his defeat in 2014 poll. More doubts are raised now over his abilities to counter rivals as he made many self goals right from the start of the election campaign.

For CM Chandrababu Naidu, he has got the undisputed advantage of four decades of political and electoral experience. He has also got an abiding image as an efficient crisis manager, a good trouble shooter and an able administrator. It’s clear it’s a a battle between unequals. At the beginning of election campaign, it appeared a tight fight as PM Modi and CM KCR along with the Election Commission gave total support to the YCP. But as the campaign came to an end almost, questions are being raised whether the younger players gave up their hands in helplessness in front of the experienced, battle-hardened Naidu.

With the election campaign coming to an end, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun came out to extend their support for Pawan.

Pawan Kalyan who is contesting from Bhimavaram Assembly segment is facing a tough fight. Political analysts say that instead of restricting their support on twitter and meeting Pawan Kalyan personally, Charan and Allu Arjun campaigning in Bhimavaram would have benefitted Pawan in many ways. Pawan is contesting from Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram Assembly constituencies in the upcoming AP polls.

Actor Shivaji Raja’s return gift on Nagababu

0

Actor Shivaji Raja today convened a press meet and fired on mega brother Nagababu, who is contesting as MP from Narasapuram constituency. It is known news that Shivaji Raja challenged to Nagababu after losing in Movie Artist Association (MAA) elections that he will give a return gift to Nagababu. It seems this press meet of Shivaji Raja is part of that return gift.

Shivaji Raja fired on Naga Babu for supporting Naresh P, Rajasekhar and Jeevitha in the MAA Elections and told how can Nagababu support those who lambasted Chiranjeevi earlier. Shivaji Raja clarified that he doesn’t have anything against Chiranjeevi or Pawan Kalyan but he is against Nagababu only. He alleged Nagababu has never helped a single penny to anyone in his entire life. He asked people not to vote for Nagababu as he misutilized MAA funds when he was MAA president. He called Nagababu supporting Naresh panel as backstabbing. He told, if Nagababu is won, Narasapuram will not at all develop. He told all castes will join hands to defeat Nagababu.

With Shivaji Raja’s comments, Narasapuram contest has become even more interesting. It is known fact that Shivaji Raja also belong to the community that both the opponents of Nagababu in Narasapuram (Raghurama Krishnam Raju, Shivarama Raju) belong to.

Why Pawan did ‘padabhivandanam’ to Mayawati?

0

Leaving behind his celebrity status, Jana Senani has taken the extreme step of doing ‘padaabhivandanam’ to BSP supremo Mayawati. It came as a surprise to political circles. Pawan Kalyan is not his usual self ever since he took a total plunge into AP politics. He has dedicated himself to the cause of mobilising and uplifting the poor and the downtrodden sections by leading a true social revolution in the state. But he has tied up with BSP whose reach is limited and whose leadership is facing allegations of corruption.

Analysts say Jana Senani is following a strange path to realise his ideological goals. His dependence on the Bahujan Samaj Party is seen as an effort to get support from the dalit vote bank. It is being described as just a regular political strategy on the part of Pawan like any other party to win the elections. It is not fitting into his larger ideological framework.

Right from the beginning, Pawan said his party would stay in the arena and fight a long-drawn struggle over a span of 25 years. His alliance with BSP was certainly a clever move but his all-out effort to please Mayawati sent out a politically wrong signal. All said and done, Jana Sena is a greater force in AP politics than BSP. Mayawati may be an experienced leader but Pawan should have confined himself to a few words of praise rather than making a public display of his admiration and adoration.

JSP promises laptop to students, pension to farmers

Laptops for all 11th and 12th standard students, pension for farmers, fishermen and artisans and Rs 10 lakh health insurance for every family were some of the key promises that actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP) listed in its manifesto.

The manifesto released on Wednesday for the April 11 elections to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha also promised annual investment support of Rs 8,000 per acre for every farmer, KG to Postgraduate free education, free gas cylinders and 33 per cent reservation for women.

JSP, which is contesting the polls in alliance with the Left parties and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), also promised that Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500 will be deposited in every housewife’s bank account in lieu of the ration supplied through the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The party, which made 96 promises for all sections of society, vowed to build Andhra Pradesh as a model state. It unveiled programmes for development of all three regions – Rayalaseema, North Coastal Andhra and South Coastal Andhra.

JSP, which is making its electoral debut, also promised Rs 5,000 monthly pension for small and marginal farmers above 60 years and fishermen and artisans aged above 58 years.

Pawan’s one man show – No other star campaigners !

1

Pawan Kalyan is bearing the whole brunt of electioneering on his shoulders. He has not invited any hero from the Mega compound to campaign for his party. As of now, Jana Senani is the only star campaigner who has good crowd pulling capacity for the party. Consequently, there are demands from party candidates for Pawan to come and address rallies. But he is not able to fulfill this and limiting his coverage to those segments where the party has some chances.

There are suggestions coming forth from with Jana Sena for heroes like Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, etc to come and help Jana Senani in his cause. They have some crowd pulling presence. How can they jump into campaigning uninvited? The insiders say Pawan is not in the habit of requesting or inviting anybody. It has become a subject of debate internally whether Jana Senani is missing election strategy by campaigning solo while other parties are employing every talent available with them.

There is JD Lakshminarayana who has some celebrity status as the one who investigated into Jagan illegal assets cases in the CBI. But he is confined to Vizag MP seat. Similarly, Narasapuram MP seat ticket is given to Naga Babu who also cannot come out and whose crowd pulling abilities are remote though he has strong TV presence. Party insiders want Naga Babu at least to take initiative and bring in additional star campaigners to fill the gaps in electioneering.

Why CMs from Rayalaseema didn’t develop region, questions Pawan

0

Hyderabad: Several leaders from Rayalaseema became chief ministers of united Andhra Pradesh and present CM N Chandrababu Naidu and opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy are also from this region. But, why Rayalaseema still remains as a backward region. If I am voted to power, I’ll adopt Rayalaseema and develop this into a prosperous Rayalaseema by spending Rs50,000 crore over next 10 years.

“TDP chief and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is among several leaders from this Rayalaseema, who became CMs of united AP. Why they’re not developing this region. Our opposition leader YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy also belongs to Rayalaseema. But, no one developed Rayalaseema region. I ask you all to vote for Jana Sena. Once we’re voted to power, Jana Sena government will allocate Rs50,000 crore for Rayalaseema for next 10 years. We’ll make this backward region as prosperous Rayalaseema. We don’t want Pulivendula-mark ruling. I assure of Srikrishnadevaraya-mark ruling. Every assurance mentioned in the AP Reorganisation Act-2014 for Rayalaseema development will be implemented. We’ll implement a special package for industrial development in Rayalaseema,” remarked Pawan Kalyan.

The Jana Sena chief further stated that he likes Rayalaseema culture, accent and dialect. The assurances for Rayalaseema announced by him include Rs100-crore tourism hub, transforming the region into a cultural platform, development of Pedda Darga, which is known as south Indian Azmir, setting up a steel factory by Sai, etc.

Pawan Kalyan has further maintained that YS Jaganmohan Reddy is political partner of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

SPY Reddy son-in-law condemns news of withdrawing nominations

0

There has been news since this morning that Chandra Babu Naidu will be convincing Nandyala Janasena MP candidate SPY Reddy to withdraw his nomination papers. However, SPY Reddy’s son-in-law Sridhar gave a statement this evening that these are all false rumours and SPY Reddy as well as his family members will be contesting on Janasena ticket and there is no question of withdrawing the nominations. He also appealed people to not get confused by this kind of false news spread by media.

Chandra Babu is currently in Nandyal and TDP held a public meeting here. During this meeting, CBN made sharp comments on Jagan and reminded people about criminal cases on him. TV channels started scrolling the news since this morning that CBN, who is going to Nandyal today, may convince SPY Reddy to withdraw nominations. SPY Reddy is contesting as Nandyal MP on Janasena ticket, his son-in-law Sajjala Sridhar is contesting as MLA from Nandyal constituency. SPY reddy’s daughters Sujala and Aravinda Rani also contesting as Janasena MLA candidates from Srisailam and Banaganapalle constituencies. It would be naive on part of pro-TDP media to expect SPY Reddy family that got 4 tickets from the Janasena party to withdraw the nominations for any reason. Or else, maybe this section of media is over-expecting from CBN.

Janasena doesn’t have much political strength here, though Nandyal constituency has a significant chunk of Kapu votes. It seems Pawan is betting heavily on SPY Reddy family in Nandyala area. We will have to wait and see how far will be Pawan successful in winning any of these seats.

East Godavari 19 segments – Deciding factor in AP polls

0

The twin Godavari districts play a crucial role in deciding the fate of political parties in forming the government in every election. This is particularly true ever since the TDP entered the AP political scene in 1983. East Godvarai especially plays a significant role as it has got 19 assembly segments. This time, it appears that there will be triangular contests between TDP, Jana Sena and YCP parties’ candidates. The BJP is not strong anywhere and neither Congress.

In 2014, the joint TDP and BJP alliance won 14 out of 19 seats in East Godavari. TDP won 13 and BJP 1. This time they are contesting separately. YCP won only 5 seats and eventually the party could not form the government. The Kapu voters are predominant in the district. They are changing loyalties between TDP and Congress since 1983. The party which gets their support is forming the government in the state since then. In 2009, Kapus support Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party which won 4 segments here while TDP won 4 and Congress 11. It was thought TDP lost many segments because of split in Kapu vote bank.

In the 2019 election, large section of Kapus are favouring Jana Sena while the TDP is heavily banking on BCs and STs. YCP is relying on SCs support. The Rs. 10,000 distribution to DWCRA women and Rs. 2,000 pensions have become the talking point in general voters. The TDP candidates keep hopes on pro-Chandrababu wave while Pawan Kalyan is banking on Kapus and youth.

Are Jana Sena, CPI parting ways?

0

The announcement of the candidate by Jana Sena in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency may distance CPI from the alliance. Jana Sena is in poll alliance with CPI and BSP. As part of this alliance, Jana Sena allocated Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency to CPI, which has already announced Chalasani Ajay Kumar. CPI has made arrangements for nomination on Monday as well. At this juncture, Jana Sena unexpectedly announced its candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has announced Muthamshetty Prasad babu as the party candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. Pawan Kalyan on Saturday addressed at two public meetings in Vijayawada as well. However, CPI leaders and cadres kept themselves away from Pawan Kalyan’s tour.

Pawan Kalyan in the last minute changed his strategy and fielded Prasad babu in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency.

As part of the poll alliance, CPI asked for Vijayawada West constituency. But, Pawan Kalyan oped for Vijayawada west and instead allocated Nuziveedu to CPI. Subsequently, CPI announced Akkineni Vanaja for this constituency. But, Jana Sean rolled back its decision on Nuziveedu as well. For this, Jana Sena allocated Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency to CPI. Now, again Pawan Kalyan changed his decision on this seat as well. This made CPI leaders angry over frequent changes in Pawan Kalyan decisions. CPI cadres are keeping the pressure on leaders to go for contesting alone.

People turned up in huge crowds for this event and the entire area echoed with “Pawan CM” slogans. Later he spoke in public meeting.

Association with Vizag:

Pawan Kalyan recalled that his acting life started at vizag and he is happy to start his political life as well from the same district. He told, Janasena will ensure Vizag is free from the land grabbers and factionists , indirectly referring YSRCP. He told, those who commented that Pawan doesn’t know politics will be in a shock after the results. He also recalled that when he wanted to do a movie (Badri) and thinking of whom to give the opportunity he recalled producer Trivikrama Rao, who showed affection towards him earlier and he gave chance to Trivikrama Rao despite the fact that he was going through lean phase financially that time.

Introduced Janasena contestants to people:

Pawan Kalyan introduced Janasena leaders to the public and share his personal experience with them and explain the specific reasons for fielding each of them in their constituencies. When he was introducing Lakshmi Narayana as Janasena MP candidate from Vizag, there was huge cheering from the masses. He told that, Lakshmi Narayana is “not someone who runs away after getting seat but he is the one who can stand bold” indirectly referring to Gedela Sreenu’s episode.

Later, he personally introduced to people all the contestants of Janasena.

On Communists:

Pawan commented that, when Central government decided to privatize Dredging Corporation of India, it was communist parties who waged struggle for stopping it. He added that when the strength of communists was not sufficient, Janasena joined hands with them and ensured central government takes back its decision.

On TDP:

Pawan alleged that Pendurti MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy is doing lot of corruption. He urged people to vote for Janasena to stop his and his son’s corruption. He also targeted Yelamanchili MLA Panchakala Ramesh Babu and told he was a nice man when he was in PRP but he changed a lot after winning as TDP MLA and he is now involved in sand mafia.

On YSRCP:

He made sharp comments on YSRCP too and told that if YSRCP comes into power, their corruption will be much more than TDP’s corruption. He also told that Jagan is still fearful of Modi because of his cases and he can never dare to question Modi on anything because of his corruption cases. He also told that YSRCP leaders are scared because of JD Lakshmi Narayana joining Janasena

Overall:

Overall, Janasena chief’s meetings at Gajuwaka drew thunderous response. We have to wait and see how will be the performance of Janasena in elections.

Election focus Nandyal: Hat-trick MP SPY Reddy joins Janasena

0

SPY Reddy, Nandyal sitting MP today joined Janasena party. He will be given Nandyala MP ticket and tomorrow he may be filing nomination to Nandyal MP seat.

SPY Reddy is an entrepreneur and heads Nandi Group of Industries. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal. He worked in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), India’s premium nuclear facility. He quit his job as Scientific Officer and turned entrepreneur. His Nandyal Nandi pipes is quite successful brand. During 1990s, much before Anna canteens and Amma canteens, he started providing quality food at cheaper cost to poor people in Kurnool district. His mobile canteens used to provide one Jowar roti for one rupee and one Dal packet for one rupee and most of the construction labors used to flock at those mobile canteens.

He joined politics in 1991 itself but success eluded him until 2004. In 2004 he contested as an MP candidate from Nandyal and won with 1 lakh majority. Later in 2009 he won again from the same constituency. In 2014, he won for the third time as MP from Nandyal by defeating NMD Farooq with 1.08 lakh majority. In 2004, 2009, he won from INC party. In 2014 he won from YSRCP but later defected into TDP. However, rather surprisingly, TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu denied him ticket While most of the people predicted he may contest as independent, he joined Janasena in the last minute and got ticket.

Even though many senior leaders from other parties approached Janasena, Pawan refused to join them into the party but he gave green signal to SPY Reddy given his credentials in charity work. Moreover his efforts in KC canal and Velugodu projects helped farmers of this area and that is one of the reasons for him to win thrice from the same constituency.

Election competition:

YSRCP is fielding P Brahmananda Reddy, a businessman, as its candidate for Nandyal MP constituency while TDP fielding Sivananda Reddy, former police officer. Sivananda Reddy voluntarily resigned to his post of Superintendent of Police to join politics and he has been TDP party in-charge for Nandikotkur. His family is has political connections since beginning. His father earlier contested as Nandikotkur MLA but lost. He is relative of another politician Gowru charitha reddy. YSRCP has given ticket to Pocha Brahmananda Reddy, Nandyal based businessman. Pocha Brahmananda Reddy has association with YS family since 2005. In 2005, then CM, YS Rajasekhara Reddy had appointed him a University Board member and he continued to serve in that position for 6 years.

All the three candidates belong to same community and SPY Reddy and Brahmananda Reddy came from entrepreneur background. We will have to wait and see who will be winning from here in the triangular fight. SPY Reddy’s joining has definitely improved the prospects of Janasena here.

Janasena giving MLA ticket to conductor’s son appreciated

0

Janasena party chief Pawan Kalyan has been setting trend in allotting tickets. People who don’t have any money power but have worked on social causes for the last few years are getting Janasena tickets. Gedela Gyana Sagar, known as Gedela Chaitanya, son of an RTC bus conductor (retired), who impressed Pawan Kalyan with his work in Uddanam gets Janasena MLA ticket. This is appreciated a lot by the media, local people and social media.

It is known news that a commoner getting an opportunity to contest as MLA from a political party is rare and usually only the influential people or wealthy people get MLA tickets from these political parties. But sometimes the unusual happens and it takes place in Srikakulam district and it happened because of Janasena. Gedela Chaitanya got Janasena Party ticket from Pathapatnam Assembly constituency. Chaitanya, who has no political background, hails from Tunglam village in Hiramandalam mandal, one of the Vamasadhara project-affected areas in Srikakulam district, and he is presently a resident of Srikakulam town.

Gedela Chaitanya is just 28 years old, studied CA and it was him who brought the Uddanam kidney issue to the notice of Pawan Kalyan after which Janasena chief did several campaigns and exerted pressure on the State government to initiate measures such as setting up dialysis centres and providing financial assistance to the patients. We will have to wait and see whether people will vote for him or not.

Prof K Nageshwar : Pawan Kalyan turns kingmaker even before Polls

Pawan kalyan led Janasena is the cynosure of electoral battle in Andhra Pradesh not because it can turn tables in its favour, but, more due to its possible impact on the poll fortunes of either TDP or YSR Congress that are evenly placed in a do or die electoral battle.

The TDP won the 2014 mandate with a slender margin of around two percent indicating the influence of unconditional support of Pawan Kalyan on the mandate.

Pawan Kalyan voluntarily supported the TDP-BJP combine in 2014, without contesting anywhere. Thus, the TDP can’t afford to dismiss him easily.

Pawan Kalyan’s entry into the electoral fray certainly makes a difference in Andhra Pradesh politics, given his personal charisma. He has clearly distanced himself from the aborted Praja Rajyam experiment led by his brother, popular film star Chiranjeevi, who merged his party with the Congress after getting a substantial vote share in 2009. By not associating himself with the merger fiasco, Pawan Kalyan was able to preserve his personal and political identity untainted.

While Pawan Kalyan can’t be described as a leader of any particular social formation, he belongs to the Kapu community, which has a sizeable presence in 40-50 Assembly constituencies of the state. The Kapu factor was a critical component of the TDP’s success in 2014. A section of the Kapu population, especially the new and young voters, would certainly walk out of the TDP fold given Pawan Kalyan’s stand.

Whichever way things pan out, the Jana Sena’s political foray is bound to create tremors in Andhra Pradesh politics especially at a time when the gap between ruling and opposition parties is extremely narrow.

The Janasena given its poll prospects today may not even measure up to the vote and seat tally of Praja Rajyam Party(PRP). The Praja Rajyam fiasco continue to haunt Jana Sena. The two of the three major communities of Andhra Pradesh, Kammas and Reddys enjoy the proximity with corridors of power. The Kapus with its numerically strong in a significant number of constituencies were never in the centre of power apparatus. Though Chiranjeevi cannot be identified with any particular community , Kapus in 2009 largely rallied behind Chiranjeevi. But, this community and the fans of mega star were deeply led down by the actor turned politician. With a changed political idiom post bifurcation and Praja Rajyma fiasco staring at them, the kapus’ political loyalty shifted for the first time in 2014 to TDP. Now with Janasena not emerging as a decisive political force in the Andhra Pradesh electoral arena , this electorally significant community may not completely rally behind Janasena.

However, any shift in the Kapu vote can make a world of difference in many constituencies where their numbers are quite huge. The YSR congress hopes that this would make a dent in the TDP vote tally as Pawan Kalyan supported Chandrababu Naidu in 2014. Meanwhile, the TDP hopes that Janasena will cut into the anti establishment votes and benefit them more. The competitive claims of TDP and YSR Congress turn Jansena and its leader Pawan Kalyan into a kingmaker even before the vote is cast.

Pawan Kalyan’s brother Naga Babu to fight LS polls

0

Actor and Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan’s brother Naga Babu on Wednesday joined the party and was immediately named the party candidate for the Narsapuram Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh.

K. Nagendra Babu, popular as Naga Babu, is also an actor and producer. He formally joined the Jana Sena in the presence of his younger brother, who welcomed him into the party fold with a party scarf.

Speaking on the occasion, Kalyan said it was because of Naga Babu that there was political awareness in him. He exuded confidence that his brother would win the election from Narsapuram.

Naga Babu said Kalyan was his leader and he would do whatever his leader wants.

Both Naga Babu and Kalyan had campaigned for the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) floated by their eldest brother and superstar K. Chiranjeevi in 2008. They, however, did not contest the elections while Chiranjeevi had entered the fray from two Assembly constituencies.

In the 2009 election, PRP could win only 18 seats in the then 294-member Assembly of undivided Andhra Pradesh. Chiranjeevi subsequently merged the PRP with the Congress party and became a minister in the Congress-led UPA-II government at the Centre.

Kalyan formed the Jana Sena in 2014 when Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated. In the elections held the same year, Chiranjeevi campaigned for the Congress while Kalyan supported the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance.

Following the Congress party’s humiliating defeat in Andhra Pradesh, Chiranjeevi distanced himself from politics and made a comeback in the film industry.

Kalyan had on Tuesday announced that he will contest Assembly elections from two constituencies – Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka.

Jana Sena is contesting next month’s Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections in alliance with the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Elections to the 175-member Assembly and all 25 Lok Sabha seats are scheduled on April 11.

Mixed response for Pawan contesting from two seats

0

Janasena party has just announced that Pawan Kalyan will be contesting from two constituencies for assembly. He will be contesting from Gajuwaka of Visakhapatnam district and Bhimavaram of West Godavari district. Why the fans of janasena are elated with decision of Pawan Kalyan, political opponents started attacking Pawan Kalyan for this decision.

Political opponents started commenting that Pawan Kalyan is contesting from two seats because of the fear of failure. the remaining that Chiranjeevi also condition from 2 seats but he got elected only in one of those two seats. Some others are saying that instead of contesting for two assembly seats , Pawan Kalyan should have contested for one assembly seat and one parliament constituency.

On the other hand, political analysts are saying the core team of Pawan Kalyan has been making very strategic moves. In Visakhapatnam and West Godavari together, there are almost 30 assembly constituencies. Pawan Kalyan himself contesting in those districts will definitely be a big boost for Janasena party in those districts. Pawan is taking all the steps to consolidate the votes. Also, he is focusing his full energies in the areas where he has strength.

We will have to wait and see how this will impact the election.
