Purandheswari meets Nadda, assures him of unwavering commitment

0

Former Union minister and BJP senior leader, Daggubati Purandhewari met BJP national president J P Nadda in Delhi on Thursday. She is on a tour to Amarnath along with her husband and former minister Dr Daggubati Venkateswara Rao.

Ending her trip, she arrived in the national capital and met the party national president. She thanked Nadda for reposing faith in her leadership. She was appointed as the president of the BJP AP unit recently.

After meeting Nadda, she tweeted on her twitter handle saying, “I assured him of my unwavering commitment towards the responsibility. Even as I work to strengthen the BJP in AP, I shall also work towards safeguarding the interests of AP and Andhrites.”

Ahead of the 2024 general election, the BJP leadership had changed the party presidents in the two Telugu States. Incumbent Bandi Sanjay was dropped and union minister G Kishen Reddy was appointed as the new president of the party in Telangana.

In Andhra Pradesh, the party had dropped former MLC Somu Veerraju as the party president and appointed Purandheswari as the new president.

It is alleged that Veerraju had failed to cement the relationship with the Jana Sena in the state, which is the alliance partner. Veerraju is also accused of being friendly with the ruling YSR Congress, which most of the BJP activists could not digest.

There were several complaints against Veerraju for his soft approach towards the YSR Congress in the state. Though national president Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have criticised the YSR Congress-led government in the state, it was alleged that Veerraju remained soft.

It is now to be seen how Purandheswari would lead and build the party in the state, particularly during the election season.

Corruption has become identity of Telangana’s BRS government, says Nadda

1

BJP national President J.P. Nadda on Friday termed Telangana’s BRS government as Bhrashtachar Rishwat Sarkar and said that it has no right to remain in power.

“This has become the identity of Telangana government. This BRS party has become Bhrashtachar Rishwat Sarkar,” he said while virtually inaugurating new BJP offices in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

He recalled that when Telangana was formed in 2014, it was a surplus state but today the state finds itself in a debt of Rs 3.29 lakh crore.

Nadda ridiculed the tall claims made when Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) became Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), saying it has changed its name but it has not changed its ways.

The BJP chief referred to the summons of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to CM KCR’s daughter Kavitha in Delhi liquor scam case. “This is an unfortunate situation. Telangana’s image has become of a corrupt state,” he said

Stating that mere change of name does not work, Nadda said people of Telangana knew that the TRS and the BRS are same. “People of Telangana are giving a message to you. You need VRS (voluntary retirement scheme),” he said.

He alleged that there are scams in all sectors in Telangana. He reiterated that the Kaleshwaram irrigation scheme had become an ATM for the government, alleging that the project cost was inflated from Rs 40,000 crore to 1.40 lakh crore.

Nadda also said that the Modi government was doing its best to help Andhra Pradesh but the state government failed to implement the schemes of the Central government. “In the days to come we have to give a good and clean government to the people of Andhra Pradesh to lead the state,” he said and appealed to people to support BJP.

The BJP chief said that the Congress party has been wiped out from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

He launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for refusing to apologise for using insulting words about OBCs, and claimed that the OBCs will never forgive Gandhi and the Congress.

“This party has lost all shame. Even when it has shrunk to this level, its leaders are still egoistic and very much arrogant. They insult the nation, make shameful remarks about the OBC community. This is all unfortunate,” he said.

Shah, Nadda congratulate T’gana BJP over MLC poll victory

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda and other central leaders on Friday congratulated the party’s Telangana leadership over the victory of BJP-backed candidate in the Legislative Council election.

Shah termed the victory of A.V.N. Reddy from Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers’ constituency as historic.

He congratulated Reddy, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay and the entire state unit of the party.

“This victory shows that Telangana people are fed up with corruption and want a pro-poor, transparent govt under PM Modi’s leadership,” tweeted Shah.

Responding to the tweet, Sanjay said that the collective movement of people belonging to various sections against the corrupt government of the KCR family is reaching its peak under the leadership of the BJP.

He claimed that the election result is proof that the entire people of Telangana are waiting for a double-engine government.

He exuded confidence that with the same spirit, the party will achieve final victory with the help and guidance of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nadda also took to Twitter to congratulate Reddy, Bandi Sanjay and the party’s state unit for ‘historic victory’. The BJP president wrote that the people have discarded the BRS once more and have embraced the BJP’s vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP national general secretary B. L. Santosh also congratulated AVN Reddy for “well deserved win”.

“It’s another mandate against anti anti-poor, anti development, corrupt, dynast BRS party and their arrogant leadership,” he said.

Sanjay in his reply to the tweet stated that this election proved strong anti-incumbency against the dictatorial BRS, especially among employees and the ‘educated.’

Another central leader of BJP and incharge for Telangana, Tarun Chug also described the victory of the BJP candidate from the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers’ constituency of the Telangana Legislative Council as historic. He congratulated all Telangana BJP workers along with A.V.N .Reddy and Bandi Sanjay.

Reddy had contested as the candidate of the BJP affiliated teachers’ union.

He was declared elected Friday after 21 rounds of counting, defeating his nearest rival G. Chennakesava Reddy of PRTU.

After the victory, Reddy went to the BJP office and called on Bandi Sanjay, who congratulated him.

Meanwhile, the BRS ridiculed Sanjay for taking credit of the win just for extension of his term. BRS leader Krishank Manne clarified that BJP did not contest the election. He said the BJP neither fielded any candidate nor supported anyone.

KCR is a new Nizam, says Nadda

1

BJP president J.P. Nadda termed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao a new Nizam and called up the people of Telangana to uproot his corrupt and autocratic government.

Addressing a public meeting at Hanamkonda town, he slammed Chief Minister KCR for imposing restrictions on public meetings and compared this with the last diktat of Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last ruler of the erstwhile Hyderabad state.

Nadda was addressing the public meeting at Hanamkonda Arts College ground to mark the culmination of the third phase of state BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Praja Sangrama Yatra.

The BJP chief said before his arrival he learnt that permission for the ground was cancelled and at a midnight hearing the court gave permission. He also claimed that when he landed at the airport, he was told that the party leaders and workers can’t accord him a welcome as prohibitory orders under Section 144 are in force.

He recalled that Bandi Sanjay was also arrested during the second phase of the yatra and when he came to secure his release, he was told at the airport that he can’t lead the protest due to Covid-19 protocol.

Alleging that democracy is in danger in Telangana due to KCR’s actions, Nadda said in the coming elections people of Telangana will send him home and bring BJP to power. “Like last Nizam’s ‘firman’ Gashti Nishan 53 banning public meetings and speeches, the prohibitory order of KCR will prove his last order,” he said.

The BJP leader alleged that KCR was scared of BJP after defeats in the by-elections in Dubbaka and Huzurabad.

Alleging that TRS and KCR pushed Telangana in darkness, Nadda said the aim of Praja Sangrama Yatra is to bring light and development to Telangana.

The BJP president said while the country was marching ahead on the path of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, corruption was rampant in Telangana under TRS rule.

Nadda said that Telangana, which should have leap-frogged the development, is in losses of lakhs of crores due to rampant corruption.

“This corruption has now reached Delhi,” he said in an obvious reference to allegations that KCR’s daughter Kavitha was involved in the Delhi liquor scam.

He claimed that the Modi government is implementing a host of schemes for empowerment of Dalits, women, youth, farmers and other weaker sections of the society.

He alleged that KCR was diverting funds provided under the schemes of the Central government and giving his name to the Central schemes.

He claimed that the Centre sanctioned Rs 377 crore for relief works in 11 food-hit 11 districts and released Rs 188 crore but KCR did not provide any help to the victims.

Stating that Centre provided Rs 3,982 crore under Jal Jeevan Mission, he said Telangana spent only Rs 200 crore.

The BJP chief termed Kaleshwaram project a symbol of corruption.

“This project has become an ATM for KCR as he revised its cost from Rs 40,000 crore to Rs 1.40 lakh crore,” he said.

Nadda said Telangana achieved after a long struggle and claimed that BJP was first to support the demand for Telangana by passing the Kakinada resolution.

He slammed KCR for what he called going back on his promise to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day due to pressure from Majlis and promised that if voted to power BJP will celebrate the day officially.

Central minister G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay and other leaders addressed the public meeting.

Nadda meets former cricketer Mithali Raj in Hyderabad

1

BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Saturday called on former cricketer Mithali Raj here, in what is seen as another attempt by the saffron party to woo celebrities to its fold.

Nadda met the former captain of India women’s team at Novotel Hotel at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.

The meeting took place soon after Nadda landed in the city.

He later left for Hanamkonda to address a public meeting to mark the culmination of Praja Sangrama Yatra of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

After the meeting, Nadda tweeted that he had a great interaction with Mithali Raj. He wrote that it was humbling to note her appreciation about the fillip that the sportspersons are getting under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP president said she hailed the instrumental personal support and guidance provided by the Prime Minister.

Mithali Raj, one of Indian cricket’s all-time greats, retired from international cricket in June this year. Born in Rajasthan, she lives in Hyderabad.

Mithali Raj also took to Twitter to thank Nadda for the meeting. “It was an absolute pleasure to have an interaction with you,” she wrote adding that under the guidance, support and motivation given by the Prime Minister, sportspersons across the country have achieved glory for our nation.

While the BJP leadership was tight-lipped about the purpose of the meeting, it came amid the attempts by the BJP to woo celebrities to its fold in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Nadda is likely to meet Tollywood actor Nitin on Saturday evening at the same hotel after his return from Hanamkonda.

The meetings with two celebrities come close on the heels of union home minister Amit Shah’s meeting with popular actor Junior NTR in Hyderabad.

Shah had called on Junior NTR on August 21 after addressing a public meeting in Munugode Assembly constituency, which fell vacant after the resignation of Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. The Congress leader joined the BJP at the public meeting.

Though BJP leaders claimed that politics was not discussed during Shah’s meeting with NTR, it’s no secret that the saffron party is in search of some charismatic faces to woo the electorate and consolidate its base in the two Telugu states, especially in Telangana where Assembly elections are due next year.

In coming polls TRS and KCR will be wiped out: Nadda on arrest of Telangana BJP president

1

BJP chief J. P. Nadda on Tuesday condemned the arrest of party Telangana unit president and Lok Sabha member Bandi Sanjay Kumar and said that they will fight democratically and ensure that in the coming elections Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) will be wiped out.

Telangana BJP president Kumar was arrested on Tuesday and his attempts to sit in protest against attack on party workers were thwarted by the police.

In a series of tweets Nadda said: “I strongly condemn the illegal arrest of our @bjp4Telangana State President @bandisanjay_bjp by TRS Gov. KCR is worried seeing the massive support that BJP is receiving from all corners of the state against his corrupt & family centric regime.”

“We will fight democratically and ensure that in the coming elections TRS & KCR will be wiped out,” Nadda added.

Kumar was arrested ahead of his proposed sit-in protest in Jangaon district, against the previous day’s police action on his party workers.

After BJP activists stepped in to prevent police from arresting Kumar this morning, the situation turned tense. However, police deployed in large numbers managed to take the BJP leader away even as his supporters tried to block the path at several points on the route.

The BJP in Telangana has been targetting TRS leadership and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Kavita over her alleged involvement in the liquor policy controversy that has engulfed the AAP government in Delhi.

On Monday, police had booked several BJP workers under various sections after they had staged a protest outside Kavita’s house over the issue.

Earlier in the morning in a series of tweets, Kumar said: “Strongly condemn TS police registering a case of attempted murder against BJP leaders who were protesting at the house of CM KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanding an answer to the allegations in the liquor scam. There is clear evidence that TRS goons have attacked BJP workers.”

“Democracy allows to protest, but case of attempt to murder against BJP leaders was done based on instruction of Chief Minister’s office. Keeping seriously injured leaders and activists in the police station without even providing treatment to the police is the worst.”

Kumar demanded that the injured BJP leaders be taken to hospital immediately and given better medical treatment.”BJP doesn’t fear police cases and attacks by TRS goons. The truth on the liquor scam should be exposed. Strict action should be taken no matter who the culprits are,” Kumar said.

He announced that the party will take up agitation across the state in protest of the attack by the police and TRS goons on BJP workers.

While opposing PM, oppn attacking country, says BJP

0

Hitting out at the opposition parties, BJP chief J.P. Nadda on Saturday said that while opposing the Prime Minister they have started opposing the country.

Nadda was speaking at two days BJP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which started here on Saturday.

Speaking about Nadda’s inaugural address, Union Minister Smriti Irani said, “While our president spoke about constructive politics of BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister he reflected on the destruction opposition parties are thrusting upon the people of the country. That the opposition is mostly family oriented. Opposition parties have time and again tried to ensure that the policies and programmes of the government which are dedicated to building a resurgent India, are met with destruction and disruption.”

“Nadda ji said that while opposing Prime Minister Modi, they (opposition parties) have started opposing the country. It is unfortunate that opposition parties are unaware about the responsibility.”

Irani also said that Nadda in his address paid homage to BJP workers of West Bengal and Kerala who met with many challenges and were slaughtered and assaulted, while party workers in Jammu and Kashmir confronted those who wanted to break India.

She further said that during his address, the BJP chief mentioned the pro-poor welfare policies of the Modi government.

“BJP chief spoke elaborately on government schemes on Jan Dhan Yojana which has provided economic support to close to 45 crore people, PM Awas Yojana which provided more than three crore houses, Ayushman Bharat and others,” Irani said.

She said that Nadda also congratulated the BJP workers in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa for their majestic win in recent state assembly polls.

Nadda holds road show in Hyderabad

1

BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Friday held a road show in Hyderabad, a day ahead of the party’s national executive committee meeting.

Nadda arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Friday evening to a warm welcome by the BJP’s Telangana unit leaders.

Standing on an open-top vehicle, he waved at the BJP supporters who had gathered in large numbers. Flanked by state BJP president Bandi Sanjay, actress and party leader Vijayashanti and MP K. Laxman, Nadda was seen holding a party flag and also showering petals on the supporters.

The road show was held for one km on the main road amid beating of drums and music.

Nadda later drove to Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), the venue of the two-day national executive meeting beginning on Saturday. He was accorded a warm welcome in a traditional manner by a group of Telangana artistes.

The BJP chief inaugurated a photo exhibition depicting the history of Telangana and its rich culture. The party also highlighted the ‘excesses’ committed on people in the Hyderabad State by Nizam’s Army.

Nadda will later hold a meeting with the party general secretaries to discuss and decide the agenda for the national executive meeting. The meeting is likely to decide draft resolutions to be passed during the meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and central leaders of the party will be attending the meeting. This will be followed by a huge public meeting to be held on the evening of Sunday at Parade Grounds.

BJP general secretary Tarun Chug said 340 delegates will attend the national executive meeting. He said Prime Minister Modi will attend all the sessions along with the delegates.

Modi, who will be arriving in Hyderabad on Saturday afternoon, will address the national executive on the second day

There is no national party except BJP: Nadda

0

BJP president J.P. Nadda on Monday claimed that there is no national party left in the country except BJP.

He told party workers at a meeting here that BJP’s fight is no longer with any national party in the country. “If there is a national party, it is the BJP. We are fighting against family rule,” he said listing out the parties in various states.

Addressing heads of shakti kendras and workers here, Nadda described Shiv Sena as a party of father and son. He said Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) both are dynastic parties. He also remarked that the Indian National Congress has been reduced to a brother-sister party.

Nadda claimed that Narendra Modi has changed polity and political culture of the country by eliminating family centric, caste and community based politics, appeasement and corruption.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh has a special place for BJP, he recalled that out of two MPs that BJP once had from the entire country, the state had sent one MP. He called upon party workers to strengthen the organization in the state.

He said out of 10,000 Shakti kendras in the state, appointments have been made for more than 6,000 kendrs while appointments will be made in remaining kendras soon. He pointed out 4-5 booths come under each shakti kendr and there are 10.40 lakh booths in the country.

Stating that there are 46,00 booths in Andhra Pradesh, he urged their heads to reach to all booths, hold meetings with workers and bring new workers to the party fold. He called for enrolling members from all sections of the society including Dalits, tribals and minorities.

He urged kendra heads to identify beneficiaries of central government schemes at the booth level. “Find out who are getting food grains under PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojna and what change it has brought in their life. Similarly identify beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana, find out if they have received houses and what change it has brought in their life,” he said.

He claimed that Arogyasri scheme being implemented in Andhra Pradesh is not the scheme of the state government but it is the central government’s scheme.

“Ayushman Bharat has been changed as Arogyasri by Jagan Mohan Reddy. It’s not Jagan’s scheme, it is Narendra Modi’s scheme,” he said.

Nadda asked BJP workers to explain to people that if covered under Ayushman Bharat they can get medical treatment in any other state in the country to the tune of Rs 5 lakh a year.

He also asked them to arrange booth level meetings on the last Sunday of every month to listen to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Mann ki baat’ programme. “All workers should gather and listen to Mann ki baat, discuss and eat together by exchanging food carried from their houses,” he said.

Nadda also asked party workers to hoist BJP flag on every house, go door to door for mass contact, arrange speakers to address people explaining the government schemes. He advised them to meet five new people every day and invite them to join the party.

Did KCR bow to BJP and allow Nadda’s rally in Hyd?

0

TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao has been maintaining an aggressive stand against BJP after TRS lost to BJP in Huzurabad bypoll in November 2021.

KCR even ordered the arrest of BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay and sent him to 14-day jail, when Sanjay tried to hold a protest against TRS government on GO 317 for transfer of employees and teachers.

Sanjay was arrested on Sunday on charges of violating Covid restrictions. KCR imposed ban on protests and rallies in Telangana from December 28 citing increase in Covid cases and Omicron variant. Sanjay was sent to jai on Monday after Karimnagar district court denied bail to him.

This evoked sharp protests from BJP both at national-level and state-level. Telangana BJP leaders and cadre are strongly protesting the arrest of Sanjay.

BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in Hyderabad on Tuesday (today) and took part in a candle rally in Secunderabad to protest Sanjay’s arrest. When Nadda arrived in Shamshabad airport, Telangana police rushed to the spot and told him that there is no permission to hold rallies, protests in Telangana as per GO issued by Telangana government.

But Nadda insisted on holding rally. Finally, the police permitted him to hold a rally by following Covid restrictions.

It surprised all as the GO itself says there is a ban on rallies, protests, public meetings in Telangana until January 10. Where is the case of allowing rallies with Covid restrictions?

Political analysts say it clearly shows that KCR bowed to Nadda and allowed him to hold rally fearing that if Nadda is arrested or obstructed, it will anger PM Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah and they may avenge this in the coming days.

Nadda held a huge rally with a large gathering. No masks were there. No physical distancing was followed. Covid restrictions were openly violated but Telangana police remained mute spectators to all this as they have no orders from the CM to take action against violators.

What’s behind JP Nadda’s 4-day stay in Hyd?

0

The political war between ruling TRS and opposition BJP is intensifying day after day. The arrest of BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay on Sunday night to prevent him from holding deeksha in Karimnagar has heated up political atmosphere in Telangana.

The Telangana police highhandedness in arresting Bandi Sanjay under the guise of Covid restrictions on rallies and dharnas led to tussle between TRS and BJP. When Telangana CM KCR can take part in big meetings in Nalgonda and his son KTR can hold rallies in Nalgonda last week, the BJP is questioning whether Covid restrictions are applicable only to opposition parties.

Under these circumstances, BJP national president JP Nadda is coming to Hyderabad on January 4. He will stay in Telangana for four days until January 7.

Nadda’s visit is primarily aimed to devise strategies to take on KCR and TRS in Telangana and devising BJP’s future course of action against TRS in Telangana.

Although BJP leaders are claiming that Nadda is visiting Hyderabad to attend RSS meetings from January 5 to 7, he is learnt to have convened meetings with BJP Telangana leaders every day after taking part in RSS meetings.

All the major BJP leaders in Telangana were asked to make themselves available in Hyderabad to JP Nadda for four days during his stay to discuss important issues on strengthening BJP in Telangana.

Nadda to campaign for Tirupati bypoll today

0

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president J.P. Nadda will campaign at Naidupeta town in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district on Monday to propel the chances of the saffron party in the forthcoming Tirupati Lok Sabha bypoll.

“After receiving a grand welcome by AP BJP at Tirupati, BJP president Nadda will travel to Tirumala hills to take holy darshan (visit) of swami Balaji,” said BJP national secretary and AP co-incharge Sunil Deodhar.

Nadda will visit the temple at 2 p.m.

Deodhar said Nadda will address a BJP-Janasena rally at Naidupeta at 6 p.m., even as Coronavirus second wave is raging in the southern state.

On Sunday, the AP co-incharge took stock of the preparations being made for Nadda’s rally along with AP BJP president Somu Veerraju.

However, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled his election meeting scheduled on Wednesday worrying over the rising coronavirus infections.

Meanwhile, the AP BJP co-incharge trained his guns at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate’s religion, alleging that he is a Christian.

“You can’t cheat the people of AP like this. We will follow the matter even after polling. This is breach of Constitution which clearly says Christians can’t contest from SC-reserved seats. You are backstabbing SCs. BJP-Janasena will expose your hidden agenda,” he alleged.

Deodhar shared a few pictures of YSRCP candidate M. Gurumoorthy receiving blessings from a pastor in a church.

However, similar allegations have also been against BJP’s candidate Ratna Prabha.

Despite these efforts, it was noticed in the recent rural and urban local bodies polls that religion and alleged temple attacks politics did not play any role and the ruling party went on to register landslide victories.

According to the BJP leader, people are not happy with the TDP and YSRCP because they did not fulfil their promises.

“Horrible roads too, like how they’re across rural areas of AP,” he said.

Meanwhile, people may look out for Nadda’s speech if there will be any reference to delivering on the demands of special category status, railway zone, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and other bifurcation promises.

Your time has come to step down: Nadda to KCR

1

Braving the downpour in the city, BJP national president J P Nadda took part in roadshows amidst the chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki jai, Jai Shri Ram” and drumbeats. The entire atmosphere was at once electrifying with the BJP showing signs of renewed vigor after its victory in Dubbaka polls.

In Kothapeta, chants of “jai jai Modi, down down KCR” reverberated with a massive turnout.

Addressing the public, Nadda urged the voters to give BJP a chance in the GHMC elections for the larger development of city. “I am telling KCR that your time has come to step down. Your downfall is near. The lotus will blossom in Telangana. We will steer Hyderabad into the path of progress and development. We will go to any city to bring development, end corruption and family rule. I request voters to support the BJP to blossom in every single division under the GHMC limits,” Nadda said while amping up adrenalin rush in the BJP’s camp.

As Nadda’s vehicle snaked through the road, a massive public held the BJP flags while showering flowers and petals amid chants of “jai jai Modi”. Nadda sprinkled his campaign with heavy doses of national security and barbs against KCR to strike a chord with the public. “The car lost its steam, the hand is paralysed, it is time for the lotus to bloom. We will unitedly work towards winning the elections to bring vikas to Telangana,” he stated.

Nadda alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is not concerned about the problems of Backward Caste (BC) communities or the poor.

The state BJP has roped in several important national party leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intensify its campaign against the ruling TRS after the pink party lost Dubbaka bypolls. With the deployment of national BJP leaders, the GHMC elections assumed national hue. It remains to be seen if the participation of the national BJP leaders in civic poll campaign will work in favor of the saffron party or if TRS will continue to retain its supremacy in the GHMC polls.

Pawan Kalyan meets Nadda on Tirupati bypoll

2

Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday held closed-door consultations with BJP president J P Nadda in New Delhi to discuss the byelections to Tirupati SC reserved constituency.

At the meeting, the actor-turned-politician tried to convince the BJP national president to give Jana Sena Party a chance to contest the upcoming by-election to Tirupati Lok Sabha seat. It is not clear what emerged out of the meeting, but the BJP seems to be in no mood to give a chance to Jana Sena Party as was evidently stated by Rajya Sabha MP G V L Narasimha Rao announced that the BJP would contest the Tirupati seat and ruled out giving a chance to the Senani.

Besides the Tirupati byelections, Pawan Kalyan reportedly discussed the series of attacks on Hindu temples, including the burning of a wooden chariot in Antarvedi, the missing silver idols from Kanaka Durga temple and the recent airing of a porn video link on SVBC TV channel. Pawan Kalyan apprised the BJP president of the growing intolerance against Hinduism in Tirupati.

BJP state president Somaraju Veeraju also made it clear that the BJP will contest the Tirupati byelections although he said both the parties will work together regardless of which party contests the byelections.

Vijayashanti meets J P Nadda

1

Actress-turned politician and former MP Vijayashanti, who earned the sobriquet Lady Amitabh Bachchan, is all set to join the BJP sometime after Diwali.
According to sources, Vijayashanti met BJP national president J P Nadda. Sources said Vijayashanti has expressed her willingness to join the saffron party.

Viyashanti began her political innings with the BJP in 1998, and later floated “Talli Telangana”. Subsequently, she merged Talli Telangana with the TRS. She was elected to Lok Sabha but was suspended from the TRS.

Following differences with the party leadership, the former Medak MP joined Congress in February 2014 and unsuccessfully contested from Medak assembly constituency on a Congress ticket. Like Khusbhoo, Vijayshanti has been miffed with the Congress leadership and kept away from the party activities. Vijayashanti has remained aloof from the Congress for some time now.

However, Kusum Kumar attributed her absence to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic. He said there are no differences among the Telangana Congress leaders.

Telangana PCC working president Jetti Kusum Kumar had recently met Vijayashanti to prevail upon her not to leave the party. Minister of state for home Kishan Reddy and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar had several meetings with Vijayashanti where they impressed upon her to join the national party.

After ‘Shehensha’, Nadda calls KCR as Kumbhakarna

1

After calling Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao ‘Shehensha’ of his will and wish, national BJP president J P Nadda on Monday likened him to Kumbhakarna, the demon king and brother of Ravana.

Mythology has it that Kumbhakarna had a massive appetite and slept for months. The BJP president launched a broadside on KCR saying the Telangana Chief Minister was in deep slumber like Kumbhakarna at a time when the state is witnessing an alarming rise in Covid-19 positive cases and that the KCR-government has also failed to check the spread of coronavirus in the state. ..

“The Telangana Chief Minister is the modern Kumbharkana. He is in deep sleep when his state is severely hit by the pandemic. The Telangana High Court expressed its displeasure and anguish over the pandemic situation in the state. Several times, the court had warned Telangana to get its act together. But the court observations failed to wake up the Chief Minister who like Kumbhakarna is in deep sleep,” Nadda took potshots.

He alleged that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was corrupt. The BJP president levelled serious allegations against the Chief Minister stating that the Kaleshwaram project cost escalated phenomenally for the sake of commissions and kickbacks. “The initial estimation for completion of Kaleshwaram project was Rs 45,000 crore. This was escalated to Rs 85,000 crore. Why? It is because of commissions and kickbacks,” Nadda charged.
Further, Nadda stated that the Telangana government has failed to implement Ayushman Bharat in the state due to which at least 98 lakh people could not benefit from the national insurance progamme.

The BJP president also criticised the Telangana government that it had failed to create jobs and employment in the state. “KCR made tall promises that he will create one lakh jobs if Telangana gets separate statehood. How many jobs did the Telangana government create,” he questioned.

Telangana ministers slam Nadda for ‘irresponsible’ statement

1

Two Telangana ministers on Sunday slammed BJP President J.P.Nadda for making an “irresponsible” statement on the state’s handling of Covid-19 situation and asked him not to play petty politics over the issue.

Health Minister E. Rajender and Finance Minister Harish Rao questioned the BJP chief over the handling of Covid-19 in BJP-ruled states.

The two ministers reacted to the remarks made Saturday by Nadda while addressing a virtual rally to highlight the achievements of Modi government in the first year of its second term.

Rajender said it was unfortunate that at a time when the entire country is grappling with the pandemic, the BJP President made an uncalled for and irresponsible statement.

“BJP should stop doing cheap politics over the issue. A Delhi leader speaking gully (street) language is unfortunate,” Rajender said and asked Nadda not to make baseless allegations without evidence.

He said the virus was spreading fast in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and in other BJP-ruled states and the President of that party had the temerity to criticise Telangana for its COVID-19 response.

Rajender also launched a counter-attack on the Centre saying a high-end medical diagnostic device procured by Telangana to enhance its Covid-19 testing capacity, was diverted to West Bengal.

The minister said the machine could have increased the testing capacity in the state to 4,500 per day but the Centre diverted to West Bengal from Chennai by the Centre.

Rajender said when he took-up the issue with Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan and Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr Balram Bhargava, they said this was done as the situation in West Bengal was not good.

He said the Centre gave only two lakh N95 masks and some PPE kits like ‘alms’ to Telangana. He claimed that the state on its own procured the necessary equipments to battle Covid.

The minister claimed that without much protest over the issue, Telangana focused on developing its own capacities and abilities.

Rajender reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was among the first leaders to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of clapping and lighting lamps for healthcare workers fighting Covid-19.

He said while the Chief Minister rose above the politics to back Modi, the BJP leaders were politicizing the pandemic.

He also reminded Nadda that even teams from the Centre appreciated Telangana’s response to COVID-19.

Finance Minister Harish Rao also hit out at Nadda and asked him how a former Union Health Minister could speak in a tone demeaning the services of healthcare professionals.

Harish Rao tweeted that politicising coronavirus was akin to demeaning national security. He said the BJP chief’s statement will demoralize the frontline workers who are risking their lives to defeat Covid-19.

“We believe that soldiers guarding the country’s borders and doctors fighting against Coronavirus without caring for their lives are the same. Prime Minister Modi has also been saying the same. You say it is not appropriate to criticise the government over the issue of national security. You lecture others that soldiers will get demoralised. Is criticising the state on the issue of coronavirus politics?” Harish Rao asked.

Nadda takes serious view of wild charges by Vijaysai Reddy against Kanna

1

The central BJP leadership took serious objections to the sweeping allegations leveled against its state party president Kanna Laxminarayana by YSRCP MP Vijaysai Reddy.

At a video conference with state BJP leaders, Nadda is learnt to have discussed in detail the allegations leveled by Vijaysai Reddy against Kanna and the controversy surrounding the procurement of one lakh rapid testing kits from South Korea at a cost higher than other states. The video-conference was attended by Kanna, Purandreshwari, Ram Madhav and others.

Nadda asked the BJP leaders not to be cowed down by the threats and intimidations of the YSRCP leaders and continue to raise issues that directly or indirectly impact the lives of people. Kanna apprised the situation to the national BJP leader. He informed Nadda that the YSRCP leaders were making personal attacks and wild charges against the BJP and other Opposition leaders for raising just issues. Kanna Laxminaryana put forth the facts of the case before Nadda.

Kanna questioned the state government over the procurement of the South Korean kits at a cost higher than other states. AP government paid Rs 730 plus GST for each kit, while Chhatisgarh bought each kit for Rs 337 + GST. To this, Vijaysai Reddy was quick to react levelling sweeping allegations against Kanna. The YSRCP leader launched a broadside against Kanna accusing him of dancing to the tunes of TDP Chandrababu Naidu and that the BJP leader was making allegations against the YSRCP government without the approval of central leadership. Further, Vijaysai Reddy defamed Kanna saying “Kanna is sold to TDP for Rs 20 crore and BJP MP Sujana Chowdhury acted as a broker in the deal.”

On his part, Kanna threatened to file a criminal defamation against Vijaysai Reddy and challenged the YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP to make the same allegations by swearing before Lord Ganesha in Kanipakam temple. Not to give in to Kanna’s defamation threat, Vijaysai Reddy continued his tirade and repeatedly took on Kanna asking him, “Kanna, I am asking you again. Have you not sold out to Sujana Chowdary.”

Nadda’s intervention as a clear indication that the central leadership is miffed with the YSRCP leaders for making wild allegations against the BJP leaders. After the civic body elections schedule was announced, there was a widespread incidents of violence perpetrated by the ruling dispensation against the opposition parties, mainly the BJP and Jana Sena workers and activists right in the presence of the police, the leaders also informed Nadda.

The BJP leaders told Nadda that the YSRCP leaders were resorting to personal attack because they were questioning the government over underreporting total coronavirus infection figures and under testing of people for possible virus. They also informed the national BJP president that the YSRCP ruling was consistently downplaying the severity of the corona virus pandemic and putting the lives of several people at grave risk.

BJP got a new national president today as its working president JP Nadda unanimously elected for this position. He replaced Amit Shah and will serve as party chief. In fact he is the only leader contending for this top post. Amit Shah, who took over as party chief in 2014 requested the party to relieve him from the position as it became hectic for him to handle union home ministry and the party.

JP Nadda is from Himachal Pradesh and he is serving as union minister of health and family welfare. He was also Minister of Forest, Environment, Science and Technology in Himachal Pradesh Government earlier. Amit Shah left his mark as party chief of BJP and successfully ensured discipline in the party. We have to wait and see how JP Nadda will handle this top position.
