Kamal Haasan’s alliance set to begin poll campaign

1

With the seat sharing among the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) led by actor turned politician Kamal Haasan, Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) and All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) having been successfully finalised, the front will now be actively commencing campaigning in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 6.

The MNM has allocated 40 seats each to the IJK and AISMK and the party will contest in 154 seats in the 234-member Assembly.

With the seat sharing finalised on Monday, the party leaders have started commencing election campaigns across the state in all the constituencies.

T.R. Paarivendhar, MP from Perambalur constituency and Chairman of IJK told IANS said, “Yes, we have finalised the seat sharing with the MNM and are contesting in 40 Assembly seats of Tamil Nadu. Our alliance is a formidable one and we will try and capture power in the state.”

MNM leader Kamal Haasan has already accused both the AIADMK and DMK of having copied and plagiarised from his vision document especially the 1,000 rupee monthly amount for homemakers which he had promised.

R. Velmurugan, a senior leader of the MNM told IANS, “The first round we have won. Both the DMK and AIADMK have profusely copied from the vision document that we had presented in February 2020. This means that we know the pulse of the people and formulate plans and programmes according to the needs of the people. We will now be explaining on this across Tamil Nadu and create awareness among the people on what all we can do and how our opponents are copying even from our vision document.”

With the MNM being a new entity and IJK having won the Lok Sabha seat on the symbol of rising son, and Sharath Kumar’s party yet to prove its credentials, even after tall claims by the MNM and IJK leaders, it has to be seen as to how much votes the front will garner in the April 6 elections.

Co-founder quits, setback to Kamal Hassan party

0

C.K. Kumaravel, the co-founder of Kamal Hassan party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) resigned from the party, citing “internal politics”. In his letter, he wrote to Kamal, “The internal politics and the management committee’s attitude towards inner-party democracy has led to this decision.” He also added that the delay in announcing the candidate list was also another reason for this. He added, “Kamal is being misguided by people around him who don’t understand the ground reality.” He lambasted Kamal’s decision on making Kovai Sarala , who joined the party only recently, a part of selection committee.

MNM party issued a statement, in which it told, Kumaravel had unilaterally declared himself the candidate for the Cuddalore Lok Sabha seat without party consent. On March 11, Kumaravel took to social media and said he was planning to contest from the Cuddalore constituency for the elections on behalf of MNM and urged people to support him in his new journey. Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan responded on Sarkar Controversy

0

Superstar Rajinikanth and Universal star Kamal Hassan responded on the ongoing controversy on Vijay’s latest film Sarkar. It is known news that AIADMK party is demanding Sarkar team to remove scenes condemning government schemes and freebies and other scenes that are indirectly referring Jayalalitha. The party’s cadres is resorting to unlawful activities like damaging film banners and threatening the unit.

Rajni tweeted in support of actor Vijay’s “Sarkar”. He condemned unlawful acts done by political parties such as damaging the film’s banners and demanding the removal of certain scenes from the film. He also told, it is not appropriate to remove scenes from a movie that is already censored. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, “Sarkar” movie revolved around contemporary political system. Ever since the movie released, party cadres have been protesting outside various theatres in Tamil Nadu and indulged in damaging the banners of the film and cut-outs of Vijay. They also demanded certain scenes to be removed from the film. Rajinikanth condemned these acts. He took to Twitter and wrote ,”To protest for the removal of certain scenes from the movie and stop it from being screened after the Censor Board has certified it is against the law. I strong condemn this act.”It is known news that earlier, during Mersal controversies also Rajni supported Vijay and his movie.

Meanwhile, while talking to a TV channel, Kamal Hassan also condemned interference in content of the film after censor certification. He said, “It isn’t new for this Government to act and pressurise against a film like Sarkar, that has completed its censor formalities properly. A government that does not have the guts to face a criticism can go off the tangent. Commercialised politicians will soon be vanished and the good people would win.”

On the other hand, reports are coming that distributors / exhibitors, makers of Sarkar agree to cut controversial scenes from film on the pressure of AIADMK leaders.

Yesterday, Kamal visited the house of Bigg Boss Telugu in Hyderabad along with his co-star Pooja Kumar. It was a treat to watch Universal star and Bigg boss Tamil host meeting Natural star and Bigg boss Telugu host Nani.

Universal star with Natural star:

Even before the show telecat, Nani couldnt hide his excitement and tweeted – “Fan meets his Favourite actor, Junior Host meets senior Host, Yes … This happened :))”. STAR MAA also tweeted on their meet, “Its a Fanboy moment for #BiggBossTelugu2 Host @NameisNani with #BiggBossTamil Host @ikamalhaasan #JuniorWithSenior “. Nani asked Kamal, he could have come on Saturday episode so that, both of them could have lot of fun on stage. But Kamal quickly reminded that on weekends he would be busy with his Tamil Bigg boss show.

Kamal with contestants:

STAR MAA tweeted on how excited housemates were with Kamal entry – “When a Legend like @ikamalhaasan walks into the Bigg Boss House..Celebration always multiplies #Vishwaroopam2 #BiggBossTelugu2 Today at 9:30 PM on @StarMaa”. Nani told housemates that they have very special guest today that is Kamal Hassan, housemates were exalted, excited and some of them fell in his feet. As most of the housemates pursuing acting career, Kamal is like demigod for them. Kamal gave all of them “Soldier like tea shirts”. Amit sang a “whistle song” for Kamal, TV9 Deepthi interviewed Kamal, heroine Pooja , cinematographer Shamdat, and music director Ghibran who were in the house. Babu Gogineni and Kamal connected well as both have similar “rationalist” mindset and Babu presented him T-shirt that has caption “Reason NOT religion”. Geeta Madhuri sang a song from Kamal’s Guna. Incidentally this song was used in Nani’s movie “Eto Vellipoyindi Manasu” too. Kashal told, he became model after watching Kamal’s ramp walk in Bharateeyudu movie and housemates sang the same song “Adireti Dress” and Kamal & Pooja did ramp walk for housemates. Then rapper Roll Rida sang a song for Kamal which he enjoyed.

Lifeline to Amit

Kamal had a special power to given lifeline for one of the housemates for 2 weeks and he can bestow upon one of the housemates. Kamal told, he wants to give it to someone who needs such support. Not the one who is very talented or not the one who is doing well in the show already. He gave it to Amit, who is ‘managing’ the show despite not knowing fluent Telugu. So, Amit will be in protected zone for 2 weeks and he can’t be evicted.

Kamal’s entry in the show made housemates exuberant and audience enjoyed the show. So far JambalakidiPamba, Tej I love you and W/o Ram promoted in the show and none of them were success at box-office. We’ll have to wait and see whether Viswaroopam breaks that sentiment.

Season of political start-ups!

0

Kamal Hassan and Kodandaram political Parties

Indian movie actors and actresses have a penchant for politics. After charting out a successful career in acting, dabbling in different roles, many wish to be reborn in a political avatar. From Bollywood to Tollywood and down south, we have many heroes and heroines who have turned ‘public servants’ with lofty ideals but failed on promises.

The latest to join the long list is Kamal Hassan who has finally put an end to rumours and speculation by announcing his decision that he is ready for a political avatar in real life. Unfortunately, one can’t run a party and get votes –winning hearts and minds won’t be enough – by mere rhetoric or cine dialogues. It’s money that talks. Kamal set a funding target of a modest Rs 30 crores for his political start-up and expects his fans to contribute. Given his fan following in the country and outside of it, it may not be an unachievable goal. But, after launching the party, can it run on fans’ patronage only?
Nevertheless, the actor’s entry onto Tamil Nadu political stage can significantly change the present scenario and the two-party Dravidian matrix, dominated by pro and anti-Amma (the late former chief minister Jayalalithaa) forces. Those who are fed up with the internecine political battles can find refuge in Kamal Haasan’s camp. Though it’s a far-fetched suggestion, Tamils would like to wait and watch his untested performance on the emotion-charged and sentiment-filled political theatre. But, he has to watch his tongue before embarking on campaigns. Religious comments like Hindu terrorism and diatribes against the rich (they are the first to get involved in plunder) won’t help him push his agenda.

In Telangana, Chief Minister KCR’s beta noire Prof M Kodandaram is veering round the view that it’s not a bad idea to convert his Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) which spearheaded the separate state movement into a political party.

In fact, ever since the two comrades in arms fell out soon after the formation of a new state, there were faint hints that Kodandaram should launch a political party “to fight for justice to farmers and students” with the help of like-minded people. The professor is known for his leftist leanings and leftists’ support to him in case he floats a party is not ruled out.

More importantly, Kodandaram’s hobnobbing with Congress leaders has not gone down well with the ruling TRS and its leaders deride him as ‘Congress agent.’ Notwithstanding that kind of taunts, Kodandaram sees mutual benefit if he goes with the main opposition in the state. Moreover, he draws considerable support from farmers and students, the two segments that stood by KCR earlier. If his political ambition takes wings, the new party is expected to have an arrangement with Congress to take on TRS in the next poll.

The question being asked, however, is can Kamal Haasan and Kodandarm bank on the fan and student following, respectively, to bring down the ruling parties with money and power? Indeed, it’s a start-up dilemma!

Kamal Haasan confirms launch of party

0

Confirming his political plunge, actor Kamal Haasan on Sunday said the first step will be the launch of a mobile software app on November 7 – his 63rd birthday – that will enable him to be in touch with the fans and as well as enable book-keeping.

At a function to mark the 39th anniversary of his fan/welfare club, he said his political plunge by starting a political party is confirmed.

Haasan said the political party launch will happen in a calm manner and the launch of mobile app is the first step on November 7.

He said his fans would contribute funds for the political party and the mobile app will facilitate keeping proper accounts of funds collected.

According to him, there is no shame in stretching out one’s hands for the welfare of the people and if only the rich pay their taxes properly, the country would be on the right path.

Kamal said November 7 is a day not to cut a cake and celebrate but a day to cut canals, obliquely referring to the flooding of several localities in the city due to recent rains.

The actor added natural disasters does not differentiate between rich and poor and all should be ready to take preventive measures then acting after the loss of dear ones.

According to him, suppression has become part of politics and it is not important how many people are threatening you, but what is important is what you are going to do.

The actor said he is ready to take a beating but he is not a “mridangam” (a percussion instrument) to get hit again and again.

Will go to court against Twitter: KRK

0

Actor Kamaal R. Khan, whose account on Twitter has again been suspended over personal remarks over Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, says he will take legal action against the micro-blogging site.

Kamaal, whose account was earlier suspended on Diwali last year for giving bad review to actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn’s “Shivaay”, says he will not return on the social media site again.

“I have spent four years and lots of money to build my six million followers account on Twitter. Therefore, I will definitely go to court against Twitter to ask them to reimburse me the money and time I have spent on my account so far,” read a statement by Kamaal on the official Twitter handle of KRK Box Office, where he shares news and reviews about films.

According to reports, Kamaal revealed the climax of Aamir’s new film “Secret Superstar” while reviewing it.

Kamaal said that Twitter suspended his account because he gave negative reviews to the Advait Chandan directorial.

“I want to inform all the media that I won’t try to open any new account on Twitter if they have suspended by account just because Aamir Khan doesn’t want me on Twitter. It means Aamir Khan is the real owner of Twitter,” Kamaal said.

“I haven’t abused anyone nor threatened anyone so Twitter deesn’t have the right to suspend my account with six million followers. They have suspended my account without a single warning, meaning Twitter wants only Aamir Khan to use it.

“I am not angry with Aamir Khan at all because it’s his right to ask Twitter to suspend my account if I was saying that his film will be a flop. But Twitter suspended my account just because Aamir Khan wants and that's a big surprise fo" me," he added.

Breaking : Dil raju’s Bharateeyudu 2 called off?

Bharateeyudu-2 was announced recently in the combo of Shankar, Dil Raju and Kamal. Now some breaking news coming from inside circles that the project has been put-off before the starting itself.

In fact everyone was surprised to see Dil Raju taking up such huge project as he has never done such high budget movies in the past. Moreover, Dil Raju’s production style also different than other Shankar’s previous producers. Unlike Shankar’s previous producers, Dil Raju takes care of the complete project instead of just being a cashier.

Now Dil Raju did estimates of the project and decided it is not going to work out. Mainly, remunerations have skyrocketed. It seems, For Kamal Hassan it will be 40 crores, for Shankar 75 crores. In addition, AM Ratnam, producer of Bharateeyudu 2 decades back, is asking for partnership or royalty which will amount to around 25 crs. Just these three remunerations are coming to 140 crs. And, before the launch of the movie itself, Dil Raju has to give 60-70 crs as advances.

By looking at the complete picture, it seems Dil Raju wants to shelve the project. Official confirmation is awaited.

Fame, money not enough to succeed in politics: Rajinikanth

0

Taking a dig at actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who is on the verge of taking a political plunge, superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday said it takes more than just name, fame and money to succeed in politics.

“If you have to succeed in politics, it takes more than just fame and money. Something bigger is needed to transform an actor into a politician. I hope Kamal Haasan (knows) what it is,” Rajinikanth said, speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the memorial for legendary Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan. Kamal Haasan also shared the dais with him.

“Kamal would have told me what it is had I asked him two months ago. Today, he says he will show me if I come with him,” he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Haasan took a jibe at the AIADMK government for the delay in inaugurating Ganesan’s memorial.

“We need not request or beg anyone to unveil Sivaji’s statue. His popularity and influence goes beyond cinema and politics. I would have attended this event no matter who opposed my presence,” Haasan said.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam inaugurated the memorial.

In 2015, then Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had announced that a memorial would be built in memory of Ganesan, who ruled the Tamil filmdom since 1950s.

A recipient of Dada Saheb Phalke award, Ganesan starred in over 300 films in his illustrious career.

A bronze statue of the thespian, removed from Kamarajar Salai following a court directive earlier this year, was unveiled on the occasion.

Ganesan’s son Prabhu, a popular actor, told IANS: “The memorial was Amma’s (Jayalalithaa) dream. I’m happy it’s coming to reality now. Appa (father) has done so much for the Tamil audience through his movies. This is the best honour he could get.”

Kamal Haasan and Pawan Kalyan talk Red

0

Celebrated actors of Telugu and Tamil Film Industry Pawan Kalyan and Kamal Haasan seem to be the ray of hope for the communist parties which are hardly playing a significant role in politics of India. Communism has become irrelevant, yet they are revered for fighting for the people’s cause and being authentic.

Pawan Kalyan’s ideology often sounded similar to that of communists. Kamal Haasan went a step ahead and said that “Left leaders are my heroes, I am certainly not saffron”, after meeting the veteran communist leader and Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday.

Pawan Kalyan’s movie Jalsa and Kamal Hassan’s flick Satyam Shivam (Anbe Shivam) reflect their political inclinations. In Jalsa, Pawan Kalyan can be seen speaking on feudalism and land ceiling wherein he even played the role of a Naxalite. In Satyam Shiva, Kamal Hassan argues that communism like love is a feeling and it cannot die just because Soviet Union collapsed.

While Kamal Haasan is yet to take a decision on his political stint, Pawan Kalyan reportedly advised his Jana Sena Party to work closely with communist parties.

Left matters very little today. But with Pawan Kalyan and Kamal Haasan sounding close to communism, the future could see some Red. Also, communist parties have been open to alliance as they realised that they cannot survive alone in India.
