Adipurush has a good opening worldwide with a gross of 114 Cr and a share of 61.70 Cr. The film has an excellent opening in North India and is very good in AP/TS, Karnataka. Tamil Nadu & Kerala are disappointing, to say the least. The film has created Non-RRR record in Nizam thought AP/TS overall is outside Top5. Overseas has done decent business with gross numbers less than Saaho.The film is carrying mixed word of mouth though advance bookings are excellent in Hindi and Telugu for 3D version.

The film has recorded Top4 opening for an Indian film par Saaho.

From day one of the film’s teaser release, Adipurush is making news in wrong way. But after the ‘Jai Shree Ram’ chants and ‘Ram Sita Ram’ Bajan, everything changed and with the pre-release event, Adipurush had gathered too much positivity. But very soon the film’s crew was caught in trouble.

Not even a day after the Adipurush pre-release event, netizens stopped talking about the grand pre-release event and are packed with the Om Raut’s peck to Kriti Sanon. A video surfaced on the internet where Adipurush director Om Raut was spotted giving a peck kiss to actress Kriti Sanon. One of the head priests of the temple condemned the act. He said even wife and husband do not do that at a temple.

BJP Andhra Pradesh state secretary Ramesh Naidu Nagothu also criticized the acts through his social media account. Netizens were spotted supporting the priest and BJP leader’s comments. Om Raut and his team are tight lipped about the controversy.

Ramayana adaptation ‘Adipurush’ to have world premiere at Tribeca Film Fest

Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan-starrer film ‘Adipurush’ is heading to the Tribeca Film Festival, which is set to be held in Manhattan from June 7 to June 18.

The film, which depicts the Indian epic of ‘The Ramayana’ will have its world premiere at the festival on June 13 after this the film will release in India and globally on June 16. The film will be showcased in 3D format as ‘Midnight Offering’ at the festival.

The Tribeca Festival, presented by OKX and founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in 2001, brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms.

Reacting to the news, the film’s director, Om Raut shared: “‘Adipurush’ is not a film, it is an emotion, a sentiment. It is our vision of a story that resonates with the very spirit of India. When I learnt that Adipurush has been selected by the esteemed jury of one of the prestigious film festivals in the world that I always aspired to be at as a student.”

He further mentioned: “This very premiere at Tribeca Festival is truly surreal for me as well as the entire team as we get to showcase a story on a global stage that has been very ingrained in our culture! We are truly thrilled and excited to see the audience’s reaction at the world premiere.”

Actor Prabhas, who essays the role of lord Ram in the film, said: “I am honoured that ‘Adipurush’ will have its World Premiere At The Tribeca Festival, New York. It’s an absolute privilege to be a part of a project that mirrors the ethos of our nation. To see our Indian films, especially one that is so close to me, ‘Adipurush’, reach the global stage makes me extremely proud not only as an actor but as an Indian too.”

‘Adipurush’ which also stars Sunny Singh, has been produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, and is scheduled to release globally on June 16, 2023.

Actress Kriti Sanon has finally opened up about her dating rumours with her ‘Adipurush’ co-star Prabhas. She called it “absolutely baseless” and also schooled co-star Varun Dhawan for adding fuel to such reports.

This all began on the sets of celebrity dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, when Varun spoke to filmmaker Karan Johar about names of a few eligible single women from the Hindi film industry.

Varun avoided Kriti’s name from the list and when KJo asked why, he replied: “Kriti ka naam isiliye nahi tha kyunki Kriti ka naam kisi ke dil me hai. Ek aadmi hai jo Mumbai me nahi hai, vo iss waqt shooting kar raha hai Deepika (Padukone) ke saath.”

Kriti took to Instagram to shut down the rumours.

She wrote: “It’s neither pyaar, nor PR.. our Bhediya just went a little too wild on a reality show. And his fun banter lead to some Howl-arious rumours.”

Kriti added: “Before some portal announces my wedding date-let me burst your bubble. The rumours are ABSOLUTELY baseless!”

She also put a ‘fake news’ sticker.

Reposting Kriti’s Instagram Story, Varun also clarified.

“Huys UI had ur fun but it’s just fun and stuff the channels have edited to have fun we took it as humour dont let ur imagination run so wild,” Varun wrote.

Mimi Movie Review: Clever and Humorous

Three days before the film is yet to stream on Netflix, Bollywood movie Mimi got leaked over the internet. With nothing much to do, the makers released the film on Netflix. The trailer caught everyone’s attention as Mimi discusses a new and funnier side of surrogacy. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar and the film features Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Supriya Pathak, Manoj Pahwa, Akash Solanki, Evelyn Edwards, Aidan Whytock in the lead roles. Maddock Films and Jio Studios jointly produced this interesting attempt. Here is the film’s review:

Story:

Mimi is the story of a young girl Mimi Singh Rathore (Kriti Sanon) who resides in a Rajasthani village. She dreams of turning a dancer and actress. To earn her living, Mimi does dance shows and it is during this time, a foreign couple Summer (Evelyn Edwards) and John (Aidan Whytock) spots her. The foreign couple spends a year in India and is on a hunt for a surrogate mother as Summer cannot conceive. A cab driver Bhanu Pratap (Pankaj Tripathi) mediates the issue and convinces Mimi. They promise her Rs 20 lakhs and she gets convinced but on one condition.

She decides to hide her pregnancy from her parents. When all is well, the foreign couple takes a U-Turn (reason not revealed here) and wants Mimi to get aborted. The rest of the film is all about the emotional journey, the struggles and challenges she faces before she delivers a child. Watch Mimi to know about the rest.

Analysis:

Mimi is a film that is sensible, entertaining, emotional and hard-hitting. When you get all the ingredients in the right amounts, the film would be a roller coaster ride for the audience for sure. The first 20 minutes is taken to set the premises and introduce the characters. The rest of the film is flawless and unstoppable. Mimi is probably the best Hindi film that headed for a direct digital release in the recent times. Sensible entertainment with humor always impresses the audience big time and Mimi is one such attempt. Kriti Sanon delivers her best performance till date and this film would be a game-changer for the actress. Dealing with a film based on surrogacy, the director handles the film with utmost care and induced enough dose of entertainment throughout. The emotional episodes take the film to the next level.

The other best thing that happened for Mimi is the casting. From Kriti Sanon to Pankaj Tripathi and others, everyone was fit well in their roles and they did them with perfection. The first half of the film is light-hearted and the second half is quite emotional. The crisp runtime and the technical aspects are the other assets for Mimi. AR Rahman’s magical score works well especially for the emotional part of Mimi. Bollywood made a bunch of films on surrogacy and this one is the best attempt. Pankaj Tripathi shines as always and he takes the film to the next level. Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak as surprised parents of Mimi have done an outstanding job. The production values are good and the film’s director Laxman Utekar does a splendid job.

Verdict:

Mimi is the best work of Kriti Sanon till date and the film strikes hard to impress everyone. A perfect blend of sensible humor and heart-touching emotions. Must watch.

Kriti Sanon on Monday recalled the first time she shot with Sushant Singh Rajput, on the occasion of his first death anniversary.

Kriti and Sushant worked in the 2017 release “Raabta”, and unconfirmed rumours had stated that they were dating around the time. On Monday, Kriti shared a collage of photographs from the shoot of “Raabta” featuring Sushant and herself.

“The first time i ever shot with you.. Our look test..2 complete strangers, meant to cross each other’s path, For a film that spoke of inexplainable connection, Based in two worlds,” she wrote alongside the collage.

“Today, it feels so painfully weird to know that You and I are not in the same world anymore.. Still feels like it hasn’t happened for real. Like maybe you are still around and I’ll bump into you somewhere,” she added.

“I don’t think it’ll EVER sink in.. But I pray that you are happy and at peace in whichever world you are in.. #sush,” Kriti further wrote.

Giving credit to costume designer Anaita Shroff Adajania for the photo collage, the actress added: “Thanks @anaitashroffadajania for sharing this collage.. brought back a lot of memories..”

Sushant was found dead in his residence on June 14 last year. The cause of his death is still being probed.

Kriti Sanon says that the ambitious upcoming period drama “Adipurush” is one of her most exciting projects yet.

At an interactive session with fans, a user asked her to talk about the film. “One of my most most exciting projects! Totally different experience loving every bit of it,” Kriti replied, along with a note for the fim’s director Om Raut: “@omraut can we resume soooooon.”

The film is an adaptation of the “Ramayan”, where Telugu star Prabhas features as Lord Ram while Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan essays Ravan.

A fan also asked her to describe Telugu star Mahesh Babu in one word. Incidentally, Mahesh Babu was her co-star in her debut film, the 2014 superhit “1: Nenokkadine”.

Kriti replied: “Best! My first ever co-star! So humble and so amazing. I hope I get to work with him again (Sorry thats 19 words)”

Bollywood beauty Kriti Sanon is all delighted to play the role of Sita in Adipurush. This Om Raut directorial has Prabhas playing Lord Rama and the shoot is happening in the outskirts of Mumbai. Actress Kriti Sanon is working towards getting her strength back after battling Covid. Kriti posted a video on Instagram, where she is seen indulging in a pilates session, dressed in purple sports bra and black lycra pants.

Earlier this month, Kriti released an official statement revealing that she tested negative for Covid-19, and thanked everyone for their good wishes. On December 9, Kriti had announced that she had tested positive for Covid-19, adding that she was “feeling fine”.

The actress had tested positive on returning from Chandigarh where she had been shooting with actor Rajkummar Rao for Abhishek Jain’s upcoming comedy “Second Innings”. The film also stars Paresh Rawal and Dimple Kapadia, and is scheduled to release next year.

Kriti Sanon to play Sita in Adipurush?

There are lot of speculations about the leading lady in Prabhas’ upcoming starrer Adipurush. Going with the latest speculations coming from the Bollywood circles, Kriti Sanon is locked to play Sita in the film. Names like Kiara Advani and Keerthy Suresh are considered but the film’s director Om Raut decided to go ahead with Kriti. A look test was conducted recently after which the actress was finalized. An official announcement will be made soon.

Om Raut completed the scriptwork and got the nod from Prabhas. The shoot commences early next year. Prabhas allocated six months for the project and he is getting trained in archery. He plays the role of Rama in Adipurush and Saif Ali Khan is the lead antagonist. The film will be produced by T Series and Retrophiles and Adipurush will release in August 2022.

Kriti Sanon: Comedy is serious business

Actress Kriti Sanon says doing comedy is not a laughing matter, but a serious business.

Kriti has featured in comedies such as “Bareilly Ki Barfi”, “Arjun Patiala” and the recent Diwali release, “Housefull 4”, which also features Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde and Rana Daggubati in important roles.

“Comedy is, indeed, serious business but thanks to the amazing mentors I found in Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol; they made it seamless for me to pull off certain scenes. People can now enjoy the movie on the streaming platform and hopefully it’ll add a bit to their holiday cheer,” Kriti said.

Sharing his “Husefull 4” experience, Bobby said: “Being part of projects that are larger than life is fun. The ‘Housefull’ franchise is a testament to that. It was fun reconnecting with Akshay and Riteish on-screen after many years and we had a lot of fun while shooting, which the viewers will see.”

Directed by Farhad Samji, the fourth instalment of “Housefull” tries spoofing the Bollywood formula of reincarnation romance, through the story of three couples whose love stories started in 1419.

Comedy is not easy: Kriti Sanon

Actress Kriti Sanon says working on the Bollywood comic caper “Arjun Patiala” was an exciting journey but she doesn’t find comedy an easy genre.

Maddock films is bringing actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh back in uniform, this time with Kriti and actor Varun Sharma, for a laugh riot.

“‘Arjun Patiala’ was such an exciting journey. Comedy is not an easy genre, and we have added a twist to it. Diljit and Varun have a great comic timing and it was a constant laugh riot on the set,” Kriti said in a statement.

Dinesh Vijan, who is producing the film with Bhushan Kumar, said: “Diljit will be seen in the uniform but very different from his avatar in his first Hindi film outing, ‘Udta Punjab’.

“This ‘police wallah’ is a laugh a minute character with swag.”

Diljit said: “‘Arjun Patiala’ is very quirky. It’s a film that has action, romance and comedy but with a spin on it. It was a blast shooting it and I hope audiences love it as much.”

Varun will be seen as a police official with a sarcastic tongue and an arrogant stride, who goes by the name of Onida Singh.

“I’m very excited to see the audience’s reactions as it’s a very special. They’ve given me so much love and appreciation, I want to make sure they have a great time at the theatre,” he said.

The trio has a baddie to contend with as Zeeshan Ayyub steps out of his ‘good friend’ avatar to roam the campus, his hair tied up in a patka, piling up the corpses without batting an eyelid. His character is called School, pronounced in the Punjabi way as Sakool.

“The Rohit Jugraj-directed laugh riot offers plenty of action and dollops of bubble-gum romance. We believe in doing something different every time, and since we have never attempted an out-and-out comedy before, we decided to experiment with one which is more situational than slapstick.

“If this film works, we would be happy to spin a franchise with (characters) Arjun, Onida and Ritu returning as the principal players. We already have an idea for a part 2 and like ‘Golmaal’ and ‘Fukrey’, Arjun will be back with a Patiala peg every couple of years,” Vijan said.

The film is scheduled to hit the theatres on September 14.

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon says that though she doesn’t have a ‘Godfather’ in the film industry, she never faced casting couch.

The “Dilwale” actress was present here on Saturday during the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit. She shared her experience of being an outsider in Bollywood and spoke about the casting couch and body shaming at a length.

“I am an engineer, so it was a huge shift for me. I was a little lost…It seemed like a dream which was too big. I think that such things (casting couch) do exist, but not only in Bollywood. But in other places too. But fortunately, I have not faced the casting couch. I was signed by an agency and thankfully nothing of this sort happened to me.”

Reminiscing about her first film, Kriti said: “It was my first Bollywood film so I was really excited. Back then, it was taking baby steps. I was fascinated by everything on the sets and I started to respect this field and everything related to it. ‘Whistle Baja’ was my first Bollywood song, and I have always been a dancer at heart, so it was a high for me.”

Debuting opposite Tiger Shroff with the film “Heropanti”, the actress dealt with criticism quite gracefully whether it is on body shamming or acting.

She said: “Don’t be scared of failure. Failures make you stronger. Don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot make it. When you read reviews, whether the girl has a substantial role or not, people talk about hero and villain, and not write much about the heroine. So that is changing. People are believing in stories where a female is the main protagonist. And I hope it starts to get better from here.”

As her last release “Bareilly Ki Barfi” is still in theatres, talking about playing a fan of Madhuri Dixit, she said: “Bitti’s character was very different from anything that I had done and it was challenging for me. People had seen me in glamorous roles, and it is easy to get typecast in Bollywood. It was great learning the dialect.”

Being a die-heart fan of Madhuri and Shah Rukh Khan, she said: “I used to dance to ‘Ankhiyaan Milau’. Talking about actors, Shah Rukh sir is my favourite. I have been his fan since childhood. I am a huge ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ fan.”
