Evangelist’s wife Sharmila to walk her way to Chilkuru temple

1

Politics make politicians do strange things. And YSRTP chief YS Sharmila is no exception. YS Shamila, who is known to have been quite active in Christian evangelization activities along with her husband Bro Anil Kumar, is making a padayatra on Sunday to – hold your breath – to Chilkuru Balaji temple. A host of YSRTP leaders too will accompany her. This is being seen as a preparatory for her Padayatra across Telangana.

The Padayatra, which was to start from October 18, is now deferred to October 20. Like her father YSR, Sharmila too will begin the padayatra from Chevella. In fact, she herself undertook a 3112-km padayatra in 2012 for her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Chevella. This time around, she wants to break her own record and trek for a longer distance. She would hold a preparatory meeting for the yatra on October 18 with senior party functionaries and advisors.

As part of the yatra, Sharmila will unfurl the party flag at every village that visits. Also, the party workers would install the statue of the late YSR in all important centres. Sources said that Sharmila has appointed a special coordinator for the purpose. At all places, awareness meetings would be held to popularize the party and its core ideology.

The Yatra is coming at a time, when several key party leaders have left the party and Sharmila’s Tuesday protest fasts over the issue of unemployment in Telangana are evoking lukewarm responses. The party recruitment too has dwindled after an initial flush. Sharmila and her supporters hope that the yatra would boost their fortunes in Telangana state.

Why did Kavitha not attend Pragathi Bhavan Batukamma celebrations?

0

Think Batukamma, think Kavitha Kalwakuntla. KCR’s daughter has come to symbolise the floral festival of Telangana so much that it is almost impossible to separate them. Through her Telangana Jagruthi, she has popularised the festival during the Telangana agitation. Batukamma has emerged as a symbol of Telangana pride. All this thanks to Kavitha’s efforts.

However, Kavitha did not attend this year’s Batukamma celebrations in Pragathi Bhavan. Though there were celebrations at Pragathi Bhavan, she was conspicuous by her absence. This has fuelled speculations about her estranged relations with her brother. Kavitha was present at another public programme. Though she had a song released for this Batukamma, she studiously kept away from official programmes.

Interestingly, she also did not tie the customary rakhi to her brother KTR. Though she has an alibi that she was on a vacation in the US, the cold vibes were all too visible. In the tweet that she had uploaded on Rakhi Bandhan, the photograph included Rajya Sabha MP Santosh Kumar too.

As of now, Kavitha’s political career has hit a dead-end. Her term as an MLC is coming to an end next year. The next year, there would be assembly elections. Till then, she cannot hope to become a minister. Sources say that her relations with her brother KTR are quite icy.

Will the BJP get its security deposit back in Badvel?

0

What is the biggest task before the BJP in the Badvel bypoll? Well! Everyone knows that the Bjp cannot win the Badvel bypoll The biggest challenge before it is to get back its security deposit. If sources are to be believed, the BJP is planning its strategies to ensure that it would not forfeit its security deposit.

In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP candidate in Badvel got just 735 votes. The BJP candidate polled less number of votes than the BSP, an independent and NOTA. This time around, the BJP wants to ensure that its candidate secures his deposit. According to sources, the party leaders are putting their heads together to put up a decent performance.

The total number of voters in Badvel is 2.14 lakh. In the 2019 elections, the number of votes polled is around 1.5 lakh. To get back the security deposit, a candidate has to poll one sixth of the votes cast. This means that the BJP candidate has to poll at least 25000 votes. This is a tall order for the BJP in Badvel, where it does not have a decent organisational wherewithal.

In 2019 , the Jana Sena fought the election in association with the BSP and Badvel was given to the BSP, which got 1321 votes. Though Balija community, which identifies itself with Pawan Kalyan, is present in considerable numbers, there are fewer chances of them rallying behind the BJP this time. Sources say that the BJP is trying to entice the TDP voters as the TDP has not put up a candidate. Former minister Adinarayana and MP CM Ramesh are said to be in talks with the TDP to shift its votes to the BJP. But, will that happen? Let’s wait and watch!!

Charminar too set to see fun-filled Sunday evenings

0

After successful launch of ‘Sunday Funday’ at Tank Bund on the banks of Hussain Sagar lake, Telangana’s Urban Development Department has decided to organise a similar weekly carnival at the historic Charminar.

Beginning on October 17, the monument, considered a symbol of Hyderabad, will see various cultural, arts and crafts activities between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. every Sunday.

The plans to conduct ‘Ek shaam Charminar ke naam’ were finalised by authorities on Thursday. Special Chief Secretary, Urban Development, Arvind Kumar, along with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar and other officials went around Charminar and surroundings to finalise the arrangements.

Arvind Kumar tweeted that the programme will be traffic free and pedestrian friendly. “Our effort is to make it a pleasant experience for all,” he said.

Noticing the overwhelming response to ‘Sunday Funday’ at Tank Bund, Owaisi had suggested a similar event at Charminar. The officials worked on the suggestion and finalised the arrangements.

Owaisi appealed to men, women and children to visit Charminar to enjoy the programme. He said there will be ‘Mazahia Mushaira’ (funny poetry programme) and painting competition for children. There will be different stalls and various activities.

“Hyderabad is identified with Charminar. The idea is to bring people to the historic monument, strengthen the city’s peace and to provide an opportunity to people to see the historic and beauty of their city,” he said, hoping that the programme will be organised on at least two Sundays every month.

Authorities will make parking arrangements for visitors at Sardar Mahal, Old Bus Stand, Khilwat Grounds, and Quli Qutb Shah Stadium.

Hundreds of people are attending ‘Sunday Funday’ programme at iconic Tank Bund every Sunday evening.

Following suggestion from citizens, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao had directed the officials in August to make Tank Bund traffic free during evening hours every Sunday so that people can enjoy the evening on the banks of picturesque Hussain Sagar lake.

The programme was launched on August 29 and it became an instant hit as large number of families started thronging the landmark.

Later, on the advise of the minister, activities like arts, crafts and music were added.

Kavitha breaks silence, talks politics after long time!

1

TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who is also the daughter of Telangana Chief  Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao, has been maintaining a stoic silence on politics ever since she was defeated in Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat in 2019.

Although she was made MLC in October 2020, she remained politically inactive even after a year.

But Kavitha on Thursday (today) finally broke her silence and talked about politics in the wake of Huzurabad by poll.

Kavitha tried to downplay Etala Rajender saying she doesn’t consider BJP as prime political rival of TRS.

She says TRS will win Huzurabad comfortably but she is not ready to accept this bypoll as a referendum on TRS government.

When Kavitha is so confident of TRS victory, why she is hesitant to accept this by poll as referendum is the question for which she has no answer.

This gave scope for suspicion that Kavitha has doubts about TRS victory and for this reason she is finding excuses saying people are not considering Huzurabad by poll as referendum

Telangana CM’s wife, daughter-in-law take part in Bathukamma

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s wife Shobha, daughter-in-law Shailima, and other women family members participated in Bathukamma festivities on Wednesday.

Shobha, Shailima, wife of state minister K.T. Rama Rao, and others played Bathukamma at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the chief minister.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has greeted people on the eve of Saddula Bathukamma, the last day of the Poola Bathukamma.

He expressed happiness over the way women in Telangana have celebrated the nine-day festival with floral tributes to Bathukamma, and the way they worshipped Mother Nature amidst happiness and celebrated the state festival with all the gaiety.

He urged people to take inspiration from Bathukamma and protect and preserve Mother Nature, environment and the water resources.

The floral festival of Telangana, which began on October 6, will end on October 14.

Women sing and dance around specially arranged flowers during the folk festival. Ever since the formation of Telangana in 2014, Bathukamma is being celebrated as the state festival.

The Chief Minister’s daughter and state legislator K. Kavitha has been playing a key role in promoting the festival.

This year, Telangana Jagruthi, headed by Kavitha, brought together music maestro A.R. Rahman and filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon for a song on Bathukamma.

According to Telangana Jagruthi, Bathukamma festival is an integral part of Telangana and it identifies with the cultural identity of the people from the state across the globe.

TRS to elect party President on October 25

0

Telangana’s ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will elect its President on October 25.

TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao announced on Wednesday that the party President will be elected at the general body meeting to be held at HICC in Hyderabad.

A total of 14,000 party delegates from across the state will participate in the plenary. He pointed out that the plenary could not be held for last three years due to general elections and Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the election is likely to be a mere formality as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been getting elected unopposed as the party President since its inception.

KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, floated the TRS on April 27, 2001 to revive the movement for separate state.

After formation of Telangana in 2014, he has been heading both the government and the party.

Rama Rao said TRS office secretary Professor Srinivas Reddy will be the returning officer while senior leaders P. Krishna Murthy and General Secretary S. Bharat will supervise the entire election process.

The process of party President’s election will begin on October 17 with the announcement of election schedule. The same day KCR will preside over the combined meeting of party’s state legislators and MPs.

The returning officer will start receiving nominations on October 17 while October 22 will be the last day for filing of nominations. The scrutiny of nominations will take place the next day. The last date for withdrawal of nominations will be October 24 while the election will be held on October 25.

The same general body meeting will discuss various issues related to the state and pass the resolutions. Senior party leader and former Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary will be Chairman of resolution committee and he will decide what resolutions to be taken up.

Rama Rao said a massive public meeting will be held at Warangal on November 15 to mark completion of two decades of the TRS and to highlight its achievements and the progress made by Telangana on all fronts under the TRS rule during last seven years.

Lakhs of party members from across the state will participate in the public meeting titled ‘Telangana Vijaya Grajana’.

The party will hold preparatory meetings in all Assembly constituencies on October 27 to make preparations for November 15 public meeting.

Rama Rao pointed out that the party recently completed organisational elections. Committees at village, mandal, ward, and division level have been constituted.

After November 15, the TRS will inaugurate party offices in all the districts barring Hyderabad and Warangal. The party will subsequently organise training camps for its members.

Why KCR avoided DMK MPs and deputed KTR?

0

A delegation of DMK MPs from Tamil Nadu comprising North Chennai Lok Sabha Member Dr Kalanidhi Veeraswami and Rajya Sabha Member T.K.S Elangovan came to Hyderabad on Wednesday (today) to meet TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao.

The purpose of DMK MPs visit was to hand over a letter written by Tamil Nadu CM and DMK president M.K.Stalin to Telangana CM KCR. Stalin has written these letters to CMs of 14 States seeking their support in his fight against Centre’s national-level common entrance exam NEET for MBBS and BDS across the country,

DMK MPs visited Andhra Pradesh on October 11, Monday to meet YSRCP president and AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Interestingly, Jagan met DMK MPs personally and received the letter written by Stalin.

But KCR refused to meet DMK MPs personally in Hyderabad today. He instead deputed his son, who is IT minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao to receive the letter.

The DMK MPs were reportedly surprised at KTR refusing to meet them. They were upset as the letter was written by Tamil Nadu CM to Telangana CM and felt that that it would be apt if Telangana CM receives the letter.

But left with no option, DMK MPs went to Telangana Bhavan to meet KTR and hand over Stalin’s letter.

Jagan is also considered close to PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah. Despite this, Jagan met DMK MPs who sought his support against BJP government at the Centre.

But why KCR refused to meet DMK MPs is the question being debated in political circles. They say KCR has been frequently going to Delhi to meet Modi and Shah these days and he does not want to associate with any political activities that cause anger to Modi and Shah.

Bihar coterie dominates Telangana administration?

0

The civil services officials in Telangana are unhappy at the concentration of power in the hands of three IAS officers. Interestingly, all of them are from Bihar. These three officers are virtually controlling the levers of power in Telangana. Some disgruntled officers have said that they were totally demoralised at the complete domination by the officers from Bihar.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar is from Bihar and seems to trust the other two Biharis – Sandip Sultania and Aravind Kumar. Besides being the chief secretary, Somesh Kumar is also handing three key departments in the Telangana secretariat. At the same time, Aravind Kumar is handling the all-important Municipal Administration and the I and PR wing. He is also doubling up as the commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.

Sources say that hundreds of files are lying pending in the HMDA as the commissioner is unable to clear them due to workload. In addition, he is also the commissioner of the Telangana Urbad Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation for the last three years. All these positions make him extremely powerful and he is said to be having the full support of a key minister in the KCR cabinet.

As for Sandip Sultania, he is handling nearly eight key departments. The departments he is handling are: panchayat raj and rural development, higher education, primary education, power. He is the MD of the Telangana Power Finance Corporation, CMD of T Transco and T Genco, incharge CMD of Singareni Collieries and CEO of the SERP. Sources say that a senior IAS officer has proceeded on long leave in protest against the centralisation of power in the hands of a few. The chief minister is said to have done literally nothing to salvage the situation.

Telangana begins exercise to address ‘Podu’ lands issue

0

The Telangana government on Tuesday begun the exercise to address the issue of “Podu” lands, or lands in forests tilled by tribals, with a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar discussing the modalities.

Following the recent decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to launch an action plan to settle the disputes over Podu land, the meeting decided to receive the applications from the third week of October.

The meeting of Somesh Kumar with the heads of the departments concerned to decide on the modalities of action plan discussed the details like model of application process to be followed, committees at various levels and issues to be included in the application such as forest boundary coordinates, and participation of the citizens for the conservation of forest.

It is proposed to conduct meetings with district Collectors, Division Forest Officers, Conservators of Forests and others.

There has been a row over these between the tribals and the Forest Department, and disputes in some places have led to clashes between tribals and forest personnel in recent months.

Following appeals from elected public representatives, the Chief Minister on October 9 directed the officials to launch an action plan to settle the issue.

He made it clear that once the podu land issue comes to a logical end, the officials should take all measures to ensure that even an inch of forest land is not encroached and there should be an end to the land grabbing in the forest areas.

The Chief Minister said the state government would not hesitate to take any stringent measure to protect the forests in the state. He said if need be, an all-party meeting would be convened as part of finding a solution to the podu lands issue and he would demonstrate and practically show with evidence to the leaders on how forest land is being encroached upon.

He instructed the officials to prepare guidelines to appoint the Forest Protection Committees in the state. The CM said the Podu cultivation which is taking place in the middle of the forest would be shifted to the edge of the forest areas and land would be allotted.

Telangana aims to achieve 100% Covid vax in a month

0

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar on Tuesday exuded confidence that the state will achieve the target of 100 per cent Covid-19 vaccination of population above 18 years in next one month.

He said with 3 to 4 lakh people being administered the vaccine every day and improvement in the vaccine supply, the state health department will achieve the target next month.

He was talking to reporters after visiting mega vaccination centre at GHMC Sports Complex at Khajaguda in Hyderabad. Authorities have made arrangement for vaccination from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Special counters have been arranged for women and senior citizens.

The chief secretary directed the officials to undertake wide publicity in the area to inform people about the vaccination facility. He asked them to especially focus on migrant labourers.

He said six more mega vaccination centres will be set up in the city to further improve the vaccination coverage.

The chief secretary said the state has so far administered 2.8 crore doses. A total of 2.02 crore people have taken the first dose.

He pointed out that supply of Covid vaccines to the state has improved. “This month the state will receive one crore doses,” he said

Somesh Kumar said vaccination was underway in all the districts. He said in districts where the pace of vaccination is slow, he would speak to the district collectors concerned and ask them to expedite the process.

The officials are focusing on districts where the vaccination coverage is less than 72 per cent. Only around 50-55 per cent of people have taken the first jab in six districts.

Telangana has a population of 4.1 crore, of which around 2.8 crore are above the age of 18 years. Officials said 71.42 per cent eligible beneficiaries have taken the first dose.

According to director of public health G. Srinivasa Rao, 2.02 crore people have taken the first dose, and 78 lakh the second dose.

However, around 25 lakh people who were due for second dose have skipped it despite completing the prescribed time interval between two doses. Of them, 15 lakh took the first dose of Covishield and the remaining took Covaxin.

Only 32 per cent of those vaccinated have taken the second dose. Authorities attributed this to misconception that the pandemic is over. He appealed to people due for second dose to immediately approach the nearest vaccination centre and take the second jab.

After candidates with the same name, election symbols that look like Lotus, car enter Huzurabad fray

1

Come elections, the political parties pull out amazing tricks from their bags. In such prestigious bypoll such as Huzurabad too, both the TRS and the BJP are trying to outwit one another. In order to confuse the voters, there are four E Rajenders. These names are meant to confuse the BJP voters. The names are close to Eatala Rajender and can leave the voters confused. Instead of voting for Eatala Rajender, at least some might vote for the other E Rajender.

Now another trick has come to light. At least two of these E Rajenders have requested for symbols that look very much like the BJP’s lotus symbol One candidate has requested for Cauliflower and the other for pineapple. Both these symbols have some kind of a resemblance with the Lotus symbol. The idea is to confuse the gullible voters and ensure that at least some votes intended for the BJP go into these accounts. In close contests, these could prove very dangerous.

Not to be outdone, some independent candidates have symbols that look very much like the car symbol of the TRS. For instance, the symbol Chapathi roller and iron box have uncanny resemblance to the car symbol. Some independents have asked for these symbols. It may be recalled that similar tricks were played in the past too.

Sources say that such look-alike symbols could cause major upsets if the contest is close. Sources say that the TRS has already flooded Huzurabad with several welfare schemes. The contest promises to be a very exciting one with both the parties pulling all stops.

Is this why KTR is not campaigning in Huzurabad bypoll?

0

Everyone knows how important Huzurabad bypoll is. It is in fact a game-changer and a BJP win could change the whole complexion of Telangana politics. Both the BJP and the TRS are pitting every resource at their command to win the election. But where is KTR in such an all-important battle? This question is being asked not just in Huzurabad but also across the state.

Interestingly KTR is not even remotely involved in the elections in Huzurabad though his constituency is very close by. Even party MLAs and ministers are involved, but not KTR. His absence has now become a topic of discussion. Interestingly, except for Huzurnagar bypoll in Nalgonda district, KTR did not campaign in any other bypoll. Though he campaigned in some places in the GHMC elections, all those seats were lost. Sources say that he was listed as the star campaigner of the party in most bypolls, but he did not go for the campaign. When asked, he recently said that there was no need for him to campaign as Harish Rao was taking care of everything.

On the other hand, Harish Rao is seen everywhere. He, in fact, is leading the charge on behalf of the TRS. He is planning strategies, meeting people, holding meetings and is undertaking house-to-house contact. Other ministers like Gangula Kamalakar and Koppula Eswar have receded to the background. It is almost Harish vs Eatala in Huzurabad. Sources in the party say that KCR wants to shield KTR from the failure and criticism before the 2023 elections. This will help him in fight with a clean slate in 2023, sources say. It is because of this that KTR was not fielded in Huzurabad despite being listed as the star campaigner.

‘Super cop’ dominating chairman, complaint reaches KCR

0

Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao appointed senior IPS officer VC Sajjanar as managing director of TSRTC on August 26 this year.

VC Sajjangar became famous as a ‘super cop’ while working as Cyberabad police commissioner with the encounter of four accused in the Disha’s gang rape and murder case in December 2019.

He was transferred as MD of TSRTC from Cyberabad police commissioner post in August this year.

Within a gap of 20 days, KCR appointed TRS senior MLA from Nizamabad rural constituency Bajireddy Goverdhan as chairman of TSRTC.

As per protocol, the chairman is superior to MD.

But Bajireddy is reportedly very upset at Sajjanar not following protocol and ignoring him and taking all key decisions pertaining to TSRTC on his own without even consulting him.

Sajjanar’s PRO team in TSRTC is regularly sending press releases to media on important decisions taken by Sajjanar like free bus service to candidates appearing for UPSC civil services exam, no additional charges to be imposed on passengers travelling in Dasara special buses etc.

Sajjanar is also holding press meets and making announcements on TSRTC paying salaries to staff on the first of every month henceforth against delayed salary payments earlier. Sajjanar is garnering media attention every day while Bajireddy is seen nowhere except while taking charge as chairman of TSRTC on September 20.

Bajireddy reportedly complained to CM KCR about Sajjanar not following protocol and taking all decisions on his own without his notice.

Rs 4,000 crore and counting, still TRS has no edge?

0

The ruling TRS in Telangana is moving heaven and earth to win the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly bypoll scheduled to be held on October 30.

Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao removed Etela Rajender from his cabinet on May 2 this year.

Though Etela continued in TRS for more than a month even after his ouster, KCR did not consider him as his party man and deployed ministers Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalaka and Koppula Eshwar in Huzurabad constituency to gear party leaders and cadre in the constituency for bypoll.

The TRS ministers took charge of Huzurabad in May itself although Etela Rajender resigned to TRS and MLA post on June 12 and joined BJP subsequently.

Since May 2 till date, KCR released funds to the tune of Rs 4,000 crore to Huzurabad to lure voters and ensure TRS victory in the bypoll.

Of this, Rs 2,000 crore account for Dalit Bandhu scheme alone and the rest Rs 2,000 crore for the development of roads, bridges, drainage system, building community halls etc.

Despite spending Rs 4,000 crore in Huzurabad from May till October, the surveys commissioned by KCR on party’s prospects in bypoll reportedly indicate that TRS still lags behind BJP’s Etela Rajender.

However, KCR and TRS leaders are hopeful that the situation will change in the remaining 20 days time and TRS will gain upper hand over Etela and win bypoll.

Thunderstorm adds to woes of rain-hit Hyderabad

0

Heavy rains due to thunderstorm on Saturday added to the woes of citizens in Hyderabad even before the city could recover from Friday night’s heavy downpour.

For the second time in less than 24 hours, people were caught in traffic snarls in various parts of the city as several key roads were inundated.

Huge traffic jams were seen in several areas in the heart of the city including Nampally, Moazzamjai Market, Basheerbagh, Hyderguda, Lakdikapul, Abids, Koti, Somajiguda, Punajgutta, Ameerpet, Begumpet and Secunderabad.

Overflowing drains submerged roads in Amberpet, Golnaka, Kachiguda, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Hayatnagar and other areas.

Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were on the field to clear the water logging.

Many areas experienced heavy rainfall coupled with gusty winds in the late afternoon.

Lightening struck a four-storey building in Venkateswara Nagar in Kukatpally. There were no casualties but the building suffered minor damage.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society, Himayatnagar received maximum rainfall of 9.53 cm. Pattigadda in Secunderabad recorded 6.93 cm rainfall.

The heavy rains caused severe inconvenience to people leaving for their native places in other districts of Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh for Dasara.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) managing director V.C. Sajjanar said all scheduled city buses, inter state and district buses were running late than the scheduled time.

Friday night’s heavy rains triggered flash floods in some parts of the city and outskirts, inundating low lying areas.

The DRF teams, municipal employees and police personnel evacuated people from the water-logged areas in Hayatnagar and shifted them to relief camps.

Does KCR’s argument on insurance makes any sense?

0

TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao’s argument on TRS government opting out of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), a crop insurance scheme for farmers, is inviting the wrath of not just farmers but across all sections of society.

KCR stated in Legislative Assembly that Telangana opted out of PMFBY because the insurance companies are getting benefitted due to payment of premium from farmers, state government and Centre but farmers are getting lower amount in return while settling claims during crop loss on account of heavy rains or floods.

This argument of KCR, who considers himself as one of the most learned persons on this earth, surprised all.

People question KCR to tell whether insurance an investment in business or anything to get good returns.

People take insurance coverage for life, health, vehicles, properties etc to protect themselves from losses in case of any unforeseen damages or accidents.

People pay a huge premium for health insurance every year and KCR should tell whether people should stop health insurance because they lost their premium amount and insurance company benefitted because they did not face any health issues or did not get admitted in hospitals or did not get any claims from insurance company for that year.

Similarly, crop insurance benefits farmers if they lose crops due to rains and flash floods. That doesn’t mean that crop insurance should be stopped because there were no floods in a particular year even after payment of insurance premium.

KCR advises opposition not to curse Telangana

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday appealed to the opposition parties not to curse the state for the sake of politics.

Speaking in the State Legislative Assembly, he said while opposition parties were free to speak for politics and criticise the government for its mistakes, they should avoid belittling the state.

Claiming that no other state in the country was implementing the kind of welfare schemes launched by Telangana, he said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was on course to build Telangana envisioned during the movement for separate state.

KCR reiterated that during last seven years Telangana not only overcame many problems including shortage of electricity, drinking water and irrigation facilities but also became one of the top contributors to the country’s GDP.

He has slammed the BJP leaders for their statements that the Centre is providing funds to the state.

“It’s Telangana which is giving funds to the Centre and what is getting from the Centre is very less compared to its contribution,” he said.

“When the Centre is not giving funds where is the question of diversion,” he asked referring to allegations by BJP leaders that the TRS government is diverting funds received from the Centre.

He pointed out that Telangana’s per capita income of Rs 2.37 lakh is double than the average per capita income in the country.

The chief minister districts like Mahabubnagar which used to witness large-scale migration of agriculture labourers is today getting migrant labourers from Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) and other places.

KCR reminded Owaisi that it was also during Rajasekhara Reddy’s time that Telangana suffered a lot. “He did injustice to Telangana in all aspects including water and funds. If such a man is praised in Telangana Legislature, it surprise us,” he said.

The chief minister said it was during YSR’s regime that Wakf land belonging to Dargah Hussah Shah Wali was given to Lanco company. He alleged that other Wakf properties were also encroached and put up for sale but he along with Muslim leaders foiled the attempts.
