Centre’s move to keep KCR out of national agri panel draws flak

0

The Centre’s move to leave out Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao from a high-powered committee of chief ministers on agriculture has drawn flak from his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The TRS believes that keeping out KCR, as Rao is popularly known, is a political decision by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre.

The party feels that the country could have benefited from KCR’s vision and his ideas in transforming agriculture as the Centre was already replicating his ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme to provide investment support to farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday constituted a nine-member committee of Chief Ministers, headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, to help transform agriculture by increasing farmers’ income.

The panel — comprising Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh — has been asked to submit in two months, its report suggesting policy measures to transform agriculture by attracting investments and raising growth in food processing.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand are also part of the panel.

“It is unfortunate if they don’t appreciate KCR’s efforts for the development of agriculture in the state and also his contribution at the Centre. It is also unfortunate that even after replicating Telangana’s schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’, they do not think his experience and vision is needed for the country,” TRS spokesman Abid Rasool Khan told IANS.

He pointed out that Telangana was path-breaker in the agriculture sector as it reduced farmers’ suicides by providing them 24-hour electricity and ample water, completing irrigation projects in record time and implementing innovative schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’ to provide financial assistance for cultivation and ‘Rythu Beema’ to offer free life insurance.

“All his experience would have helped the Centre in policy making. I think, it is only a political decision they have taken,” said Khan.

The pro-TRS media has also found fault with the Centre’s move to keep KCR out of the panel, saying it reeked of prejudice against states that had success stories to tell.

KCR, who had mooted a Federal Front comprising non-BJP and non-Congress parties before the Lok Sabha elections, had also announced that agriculture would be top on the national agenda of the proposed alliance.

The Federal Front could not take off as BJP-led NDA retained power with a huge majority.

Can BJP Telugu leaders win Modi-Shah favours?

0

The BJP is able to successfully win over some top level leaders from TDP and Congress in AP and Telangana states. But that is not triggering a wave of migrations of more leaders and activists in the field level. All through, the BJP has got a very nominal presence as far as Assembly elections are concerned in Telugu States. Now, the Modi-Shah duo has set a target of winning Assembly elections in 2022 Jamili elections.

The mood in top leadership has put a big responsibility on the leaders who have joined the BJP recently. They got busy to convince and win over more TDP leaders to join the BJP. This is the immediate task before even the four MPs Sujana Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh and Garikipati Rammohan Rao in AP. They are trying hard to win over even a good number of MLAs from TDP to make the BJP the main opposition party in the state. But there is some response from only one or two MLAs but nearly 16 MLAs are required to deprive TDP of its opposition status in Assembly.

Even in Telangana, top leaders like DK Aruna are now busy convincing more leaders to migrate from Congress. Analysts say that this is just a beginning as the BJP national leaders will do whatever it takes to sabotage rival parties and get a decent presence in Telugu states in the next two years.

KCR making Tughlaq decisions: Congress

0

Congress senior leaders visited present buildings of Assembly and Secretariat in Hyderabad. They criticised that CM KCR’s decision to demolish these buildings is nothing but a Tughlaq action. It will lead to only sheer waste of public money. Congress leaders Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, Jeevan Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, Sridhar Rao and others visited the buildings. They say that the present buildings are in a strong condition and can be used for another 40 to 50 years.

Lot of police descended at the buildings in view of Congress leaders visit. The leaders said that KCR is just fascinating to build new buildings like in the case of Amaravati capital city. KCR is trying to waste thousands of crores of rupees at a time when Telangana already has debts of over Rs 2 lakh crore. Congress leaders are asking why these good buildings are being demolished. Despite their agitation, government is shifting furniture to demolish the structures where new buildings will come up.

Will KCR give a reasonable deal to AP?

0

All Andhra people know how TRS boss Chandrasekhara Rao has whipped up anti-Andhra feelings and misled Sonia Gandhi to get separate Telangana statehood. KCR did not come forward for solving the reorganisation issues with AP government till there was Chandrababu Naidu as CM. But now, the same KCR is showing never before enthusiasm to solve all bifurcation issues amicably and for giving equal justice to both the states.

Doesn’t KCR know that the highest revenue-earning Hyderabad capital city was bagged by Telangana? AP had no capital city nor any resources. When AP leaders demanded fulfillment of Special Status promise to their States, KCR began demanding the same for Telangana. Now the same KCR is promising a better deal to Team Jagan to solve AP Bhavan, electricity dues, 9th and 10th schedule organisations.
KCR is saying that AP Bhavan in Delhi has been a heritage asset of Telangana. He has set his sights on this centrally located building in the country’s capital city. But as per the bifurcation act, AP has to get its share of 58 per cent while Telangana will get only 42 per cent as per population figures. AP is arguing that AP Bhavan should be divided as per this ratio. Will KCR give an equal and reasonable deal to AP? Analysts say that going by track record, KCR is sure to outwit Team Jagan and deprive AP further.

KCR Double bed rooms houses turned to Medical College Students Hostel

0

KCR Prestigious Double bedrooms which are ready for occupation have been allocated temporarily to Medical colleges as hostels in Siddipet and Nalgonda. This has come as a shocker to the BPL families who are waiting for their double bedroom flats.

This decision was taken in a bid to please the Medical Council of India (MCI) teams, as they were visiting these districts for inspection of the college’s infrastructure.

KCR has sanctioned Medical Colleges to be built in Siddipet and Nalgonda and admissions are expected to start by August 1st this year. As there are no hostels in town to accommodate the students, the district administration has decided to arrange hostels for medical students in the finished double bedroom houses.

The decision to get approvals from MCI and start Medical classes by this August 1st is a good decision but the district administration would have planned more effectively to build hostels also at the same time so that poor familes need not wait for their houses. Also, there is no official confirmation from district officials on when students will vacate these houses and these will be allocated to the poor families.

Hope Telangana Government looks into this and allocates double bedrooms houses to eligible poor families.

Will Komatireddy Rajagopal exit hurt congress prospect in Telangana?

0

Senior Congress leader and Telangana legislator Komatireddy Rajgopal decision to quit congress and plans to join BJP is creating sensation in Telangana State. Congress which has already lost 12 MLA’s to TRS and left with only half a dozen MLA’s is struggling to come out of this mess and prove its existence in Telangana.

Apart from TRS, BJP is trying hard to wipe out Congress from Telangana. BJP has its own plans to wipe out congress from Telangana and play important role as main opposition and later form its government on its own. Once BJP gets its hold in Telangana then it would be easy for it to enter into Andhra.

So at this crucial juncture Rajagopal’s exit will definitely hurt congress, however, these type of conditions are not new to Congress and it is the responsibility of Congress high command to take this seriously and take strict actions and revamp the TPCC if required. It is also required for local leaders to save the cadre if leaders leave the party. As many leaders are unhappy with TPPC Chief Uttam Kumar Reddy it would be good if high command gives a thought about a change of leadership.

At this point, Congress really needs a leader who has good public image and takes congress party into masses effectively. Party should go for young leaders like BJP did previously and take party activities into public instead of depending on Old horses who already lost their shine. If Congress high command does not act now then Congress will lose its existence to BJP.

Does Telangana really need new secretariat and new Assembly buildings?

0

As you all know that today morning at 11 AM KCR has laid the foundation stone for new secretariat and new Assembly buildings.

Considering the Telangana financial situations one may wonder what is the need for the new secretariat and new Assembly buildings by spending 500 crores when we have already have a functioning secretariat and assembly buildings. At present, there is no need to built these building since there are not mandatory and can be postponed. However, KCR has own plans and he generally does not bother about criticism.

If you look into Telangana financial situation the debts have already crossed 1.5 lakh crore and debts increased 159 % in these 5 years as announced by Central Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. So under this crunch situation, it is not needed to take up this task. Also, there is a lot of development needed in Telangana state. Hyderabad city and Kaleshwaram project will not suffice for the development of Telangana and there are lot of issues in Telangana in terms of infrastructure, roads, drainage systems and so on. There are districts like Adilabad which needs more attention for development. Without developing all the districts there would be no use if unnecessary expenses are spent. KCR should note that Public may get unhappy with unnecessary spending and this may create him problems in near future.

Stone laid for Telangana new Assembly and Secretariat

0

CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s long-standing plans are beginning to bear fruit. The foundation stones are laid for the Rs 100 Cr new Assembly building and for the Rs 400 Cr new Secretariat building today. The old Assembly building was there from the Nizam rulers time. This is not meeting the present day needs. Because of this, the new Assembly is being built in 17.9 acres land available at the R&B premises in Erramanjil.

The critics are asking why KCR is not preferring to use the existing buildings as they are serving the purpose. But KCR eventually went ahead with his plans saying that modern buildings are the need of the hour. Political circles are surprised as there is no talk of constructing buildings for Assembly and Secretariat in AP at all. But Telangana is going to have a new second set of buildings for the same.

Merger of 12 Congress MLAs with TRS: Acharya

0

The merger of 12 Congress MLAs in Telangana with the TRS and the merger of four TDP Rajya Sabha members with the BJP are “illegal” as they violate the law, said former Lok Sabha Secretary General P.D.T. Acharya.

In an interview to Karan Thapar, Acharya said: “Yes, the merger of the 12 Congress MLAs in Telangana with the TRS and the merger of the four TDP Rajya Sabha MPs with the BJP are illegal as they are not in accordance with the law.”

He said the so-called mergers were “certainly illegal” and not in accordance with the 10th schedule of the Constitution.

He said that for a merger, a party has to merge with another political party and its MLAs or MPs have to agree to the merger.

“But in these two cases the original parties have not merged while their legislators and the MPs have merged,” he said.

He said if the two original parties do not merge, then there is no merger.

Acharya said that under law, a person who defects to another party is saved from disqualification if he claims that his original party has merged with another party and that two-third of the members of the party and the legislator have agreed to the merger.

“So these are the two conditions,” he said. “…the merger has to take place first.”

If the two parties do not merge, then there is no merger, Acharya replied. “There is no merger in the eye of law.”

0

Since there was no permission by the authorities to install the statue, police tried to prevent this on Wednesday night. It evoked strong protest from people who had brought the statue past midnight.

Why is KCR talking less of Telangana?

0

These days, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao is talking more and more about the combined interests of Telugu people. At the same time, he is talking less and less about Telangana sentiment, which is nothing but his favourite anti-Andhra sentiment. Now, KCR has proposed to AP CM Jagan to make joint, harmonious efforts for better utilisation of water in Krishna and Godavari rivers to benefit farmers in both the Telugu states.

KCR is talking a lot about common welfare and progress and prosperity of Telangana and Andhra. He is giving details about how much water is flowing wastefully in the two rivers and how much water can be used with joint efforts to give supply to every nook and corner of twin states.

It is the same KCR who whipped up anti-Andhra sentiment in 2018 Telangana election. He was solely responsible for reviving Telangana statehood agitation and continuing it by provoking feelings against Andhras there. Now, KCR is talking about the welfare of Andhras. What more, the irrigation ministers and departments of both states are going to meet discuss joint strategies. Analysts say that no doubt, KCR will take total advantage in this too.

Congress leaders held for trying to install Ambedkar bust in Hyderabad

0

Two senior Congress leaders and former MPs and their followers were arrested here on Tuesday when they tried to install a statue of B.R. Ambedkar.

V. Hanumantha Rao, Harsha Kumar and their supporters were arrested as they reached Panjagutta crossroads in the city with a statue and tried to install it at the same place where a similar attempt by a group was foiled by the municipal authorities in April.

Mild tension prevailed as the Congress leaders, their followers and members of the Ambedkar Statue Protection Committee tried to resist the arrests. Police shifted the leaders to Bollarum police station.

In April, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had removed Ambedkar statue from the same place after it was installed by Jai Bheem Society on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti.

The damaged statue was later found at a dumping yard, evoking strong protests from Dalit organizations who sought action against those responsible.

GHMC officials said since the statue was erected without permission it was removed. They, however, promised to take action against the GHMC employees who loaded the statue on garbage truck and shifted it to a dumping yard.

Doctors’ strike hit services in Telangana, Andhra

0

The nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to protest the attack on doctors in West Bengal affected medical services in government and private hospitals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The out-patient services at major government hospitals like Osmania General Hospital, Gandhi Hospital and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad came to a standstill.

Hundreds of patients who came to these hospitals from various parts of the state had to face hardships as doctors stayed away from their duties and participated in protests condemning attacks on their colleagues in West Bengal.

Doctors boycotted all services except emergency at the government and corporate hospitals and nursing homes.

Doctors at Osmania Hospital staged a protest, demanding punishment to those involved in the attack. They were carrying placards with slogans like ‘no security no service’ and ‘suffering but still serving’.

At the protest held at Gandhi Hospital, the doctors demanded stringent law to deal with the attacks on their fraternity.

Out-patient services also came to a halt at government and private hospitals in the rest of Telangana.

Patients suffered in Andhra Pradesh as doctors struck work in response to the shutdown call by the IMA. Doctors at hospitals in Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Kurnool and other places boycotted their duties and staged protests.

Telangana Congress MLA may join BJP

0

The Congress in Telangana received another jolt as senior party leader and legislator K. Rajagopal Reddy on Saturday dropped hints that he may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After losing 12 MLAs to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Congress now appears to be losing legislators to the BJP, which made big inroads in the state in recent Lok Sabha elections.

Talking to reporters, Rajagopal Reddy attacked his own party, saying it has no future in the state. He also said that the BJP alone can be an alternative to the TRS in the state.

Rajagopal Reddy, who was elected to Telangana Assembly from Munugode constituency in Nalgonda district, said he would consult his followers before taking a decision to join the BJP.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he said the “revolutionary measures” taken by him during the last five years had helped the BJP get a fresh mandate in recent elections. He claimed that people, especially youth, believed that the country will develop under the leadership of Modi.

He also said many leaders were looking towards the BJP. His comments assumed significance in the wake of claims of the BJP state leadership that many Congress leaders were in touch with them.

Rajagopal Reddy blamed Congress leadership for the party’s sorry state of affairs in the state. He targeted state in charge R.C. Khuntia and state Congress President Uttam Kumar Reddy, saying their style of functioning led to party’s crushing defeat in the Assembly elections in December last year.

He said if the leadership had taken immediate action to remove Khuntia and Uttam Kumar Reddy, the party would have done well in Lok Sabha elections. He said after losing 12 MLAs to the TRS, the Congress was demoralized.

Rajagopal Reddy’s brother K. Venkat Reddy was one of three Congress candidates elected in the Lok Sabha elections. Making major inroads, the BJP won four seats, wresting three from the TRS, which won nine seats out of 17 seats in the state.

MoS Kishan Reddy receives threat calls

0

Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy has received threatening phone calls from unknown persons, the Hyderabad Police said on Friday

Kishan Reddy, who received voice Internet calls on May 20, lodged a complaint with Cyber Crime police, which registered a case and launched the investigations.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader provided to police the number from which the calls were made, threatening to kill him.

Kishan Reddy, who was elected from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, was inducted in Modi cabinet on May 30. He had received threatening calls in the past also.

Meanwhile, police also registered a case against unknown persons making objectionable posts against Telangana Labour Minister Malla Reddy on the social media. The minister lodged a complaint that some unknown persons were making objectionable posts about him on Facebook and other social media platforms.

The police said they identified the IP addresses of those who were trolling him and making objectionable posts. A police officer said they were trying to trace the accused for further action.

Three held in Hyderabad for rumours about missing people

0

Three persons were arrested here on Thursday for posting fake messages on social media about missing persons, triggering rumours of “kidnapping mafia” active in the state.

The Cyber Crimes Police Station of the Detective Department arrested Venkat Gurijala, Kranthi Kiran Naidu and Balraju, who, in the name of “Telangana Yuva Synyam”, created the rumour.

Police on Wednesday had registered a suo motu case about viral posts on social media, to the effect that the number of missing complaints in Hyderabad has been increasing day by day and “nearly 82 people went missing in Telangana within just 24 hours on Saturday (8th June)”.

Police said these posts were creating alarm in the public and it is likely to induce the general public to commit an offence against public peace.

The police also appealed to people not to believe such rumours and also if they receive such ‘forwards’, they should delete them immediately. “Forwarding of such fake posts and rumours is liable for punishment under law and hence general public should not forward such posts which will cause panic and alarm in general public,” said Avinash Mohanty, Joint Commissioner of Police, Detective Department.

The fake messages on social media were triggered by reports in a section of vernacular media that 540 missing cases were registered in Telangana in first 10 days of June.

The police top brass has claimed that the data with regard to missing persons was twisted to give a sinister interpretation. Officials said there was nothing to panic as the figures were not unusual and that 222 of these cases were already solved.
