Patriotic fervour marks I-Day celebrations in Telangana, Andhra

0

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with patriotic fervour on Thursday.

The celebrations across the Telugu states were marked by hoisting of the national flag, speeches and programmes highlighting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, cultural shows and playing of patriotic songs.

The Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh led the celebrations in their respective states with the unfurling of the tricolour at the main official functions to mark the occasion.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao hoisted the national flag at the historic Golconda Fort and addressed the gathering.

He earlier hoisted the national flag at the Pragati Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s official residence, and visited the Martyrs’ Memorial at Secunderabad Parade Ground to offer floral tributes.

Performance by the artistes, reflecting the rich culture of Telangana, was the highlight of the main celebrations.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, was presented a guard of honour by the police contingents, including one from Odisha.

Like in the last five years, there was no demonstration by tableaux and the number of policemen and students participating in the parade was limited due to lack of space.

KCR addressed the gathering highlighting the achievements of his government and outlining its plans to realise the dream of ‘golden Telangana’.

His cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy and other top civil, police and military officials attended the ceremony.

After the formation of the state in 2014, KCR had departed from the over five-decade-old tradition of holding Independence Day celebrations at the Parade Ground to choose the ancient fort as the venue to showcase the rich legacy of Telangana.

In Andhra Pradesh, the official celebrations were held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy hoisted the national flag and received a salute from police contingents. He reviewed the colourful parade by various wings of the police department.

The Chief Minister also presented awards to some police officers for their meritorious service.

This was the first Independence Day celebration for Jagan Reddy as the Chief Minister after he led the YSR Congress Party to power in the elections held in April.

Tableaux by 13 departments highlighted the various welfare and development schemes of the state government.

Ministers, Director General of Police Gautam Sawang, Chief Secretary L.V. Subrahmanyam and other officials were present on the occasion.

I-Day celebrations were also held at the state legislature, high court, various government buildings and offices of the political parties in both the states.

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker T. Sitaram and Council Chairman Muhammad Sharif Ahmad hoisted the national flag at the state legislature complex in Amaravati.

Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, N. Chandrababu Naidu, hoisted the tricolour at his residence in Hyderabad. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President also greeted people on the occasion.

Telangana Assembly Speaker P. Srinivas Reddy and Council Chairman K. Swamy Goud participated at the Independence Day celebrations at the legislature building in Hyderabad.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working President K.T. Rama Rao hoisted the national flag at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Jana Sena Party (JSP) President and popular actor Pawan Kalyan unfurled the national flag at the party office in Amaravati.

I-Day celebrations were also held at the offices of the opposition Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other parties in Hyderabad, Amaravati and Vijayawada.

Telangana announces action plan to transform villages

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday announced a 60-day special action plan to transform villages and towns with special emphasis on cleanliness and greenery.

The action plan is aimed at introducing the new approach and implementation of the new Panchayat Raj Act and Municipality Act.

Addressing the 73rd Independence Day celebrations at the historic Golconda Fort here, he said the government would release funds from the Finance Commission grants to the local bodies before the commencement of the programme.

Under the first phase of the programme, sanitation in the villages and towns will be improved with the participation of people. Stating that unhygienic conditions are the root cause for the ill health, he said in this 60-day programme, officials and the public representatives with public participation should change the topography of villages and towns.

The Chief Minister said that civil society organisations with the participation of people should work towards totally clearing the garbage.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, also announced that the electricity department will observe ‘Power Week’ with the participation of the people to replace rusted poles and attend to hanging wires.

“Every village and town should set up the sapling nurseries based on their need with the help of the local bodies and 10 per cent of the village and town budget should be allocated for the growth of greenery. Six saplings will be provided to every house in the villages and towns based on the request made,” the Chief Minister said.

He exuded confidence that the dream of ‘Bangaru’ (golden) Telangana will be realized ‘very soon’ through moral and committed governance.

He said that Telangana today stood before the country as proud and model state and the foundations needed for the construction of ‘Bangaru Telangana’ have been laid strongly.

KCR, whose Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) retained power in December 2018, after achieving Telangana state through a great moment, they were carrying out the reconstruction with utmost devotion like performing of a ‘Yagnaa’.

He claimed that Telangana’s wealth, which was about 4 lakh crore at the time of the state’s formation is now worth Rs 8.66 lakh crore.

KCR said in 2018-19 Telangana figured among the top states in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) with 14.84 per cent growth rate.

He said the government was doing away with the old and obsolete Acts and bringing in the new Acts in tune with the contemporary social reality in the society. A new Revenue Act will be tabled in the budget session of the Assembly to offer hassle-free services to people and farmers.

KCR said that the government doubled the amount of ‘Asara’ pensions as promised during the elections. “We are giving Rs 3,016 per month to the differently-abled persons and Rs 2,016 to others. We have decided to reduce the eligibility age limit for the old-age pension from 65 to 57 years.”

As per the promise made during the elections, the agriculture financial assistance is given under ‘Rythu Bandhua’ enhanced from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per acre per year.

KCR said that projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers were being completed on a fast track. He noted Kaleshwaram project, a man-made wonder caught the attention of the whole world and was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh recently.

KCR said in June 2020, farmers in the state will get an opportunity to get an additional 575 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) of water.

President seeks report on students suicides: Telangana

0

President Ramnath Kovind has asked for a detailed report on the suicides of intermediate students following faulty results in their annual examinations in Telangana. President sought reports from both the Union Home Ministry and the Telangana government. Over 27 students committed suicide after they were found to have failed in the exams as per results announced in April.

These students were hardworking and they failed in only one subject though they got more than 90 per cent marks in all other subjects. There was a serious agitation by parents and public against the erroneous results. The government tried to rectify the mistake but it was already too late as many students took the extreme step by that time.

Allegations were made that all this tragedy took place because of the government’s decision to give the related IT project to a company which has no experience. There was also no immediate efforts to rectify the mistake.
BJP Telangana President K Laxman and others met President and complained about the students suicides. They said that the KCR government is not doing justice to the families of the deceased students.

Change in strategy by TRS to counter BJP?

With its direct or indirect support to controversial Bills, TRS appears to be redrawing its strategy to counter BJP, which is on an overdrive to strengthen itself in Telangana.

In the just-concluded Parliament session, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) backed Narendra Modi-government in Parliament by either voting for the Bills or facilitating their approval by staging walk-out.

Under attack from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its alleged “appeasement politics” and for being in alliance with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), TRS seems to have started reconciling to the new realities in state politics.

Analysts say TRS President and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is apparently looking to blunt the BJP attack by backing the government on various issues including the contentious ones.

The party not only openly supported BJP-led NDA government on scrapping Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir but also staged walk-out from Rajya Sabha during voting on the Bill to criminalise triple talaq, thus helping the government to have smooth sailing.

On both the issues and also on the Bill to amend Right to Information Act, TRS took a stand in total variance with its ally AIMIM. For its stand on triple talaq, the ruling party came under sharp criticism from some Muslim groups, who termed this as a “betrayal” and vowed to teach the party a lesson.

KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, did not want to give BJP a chance to sharpen its attack and fish in troubled waters by luring some party leaders. BJP leaders have been claiming that many TRS leaders were waiting to defect to BJP.

After winning four Lok Sabha seats including the three it wrested from TRS, BJP is an overdrive to expand the party base in Telangana. With the party polling 20 per cent votes, BJP sees itself as the alternative of TRS.

That Telangana is on top of BJP agenda was demonstrated by the fact that party chief and Union Home Minister Amit Shah chose it for launching the membership drive from the state. Several central leaders of the party also actively participated in the campaign.

Buoyed by its best-ever performance in Lok Sabha elections in Telangana, BJP is apparently looking to polarize Hindu votes in its favour. The morale of the party leaders is high as they feel they have replaced Congress as the second major political force in the state.

In an attempt to further strengthen the party, BJP’s state chief K. Laxman has invited Amit Shah to enroll as the party member in Hyderabad. The BJP President has also been invited for Hyderabad liberation day celebrations on September 17.

BJP had been targeting KCR for not celebrating the liberation day and Amit Shah stated on many occasions that the TRS is scared of AIMIM.

It was on September 17, 1948 that then Hyderabad State acceded to the Indian Union following Indian Army operation. Successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh stayed away from officially celebrating the day.

BJP’s working President JP Nadda is also visiting Telangana on August 18. Laxman has claimed that many TRS leaders will join BJP in Nadda’s presence.

Though firmly in saddle with overwhelming majority in Assembly, TRS is nevertheless concerned over the rise of BJP, proved with the massive inroads it made in Lok Sabha elections.

The regional party is trying to deny any opportunity to BJP to cash in on, especially in view of the coming elections to urban local bodies.

BJP leaders are confident of sweeping the polls in Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Adilabad, the three Lok Sabha seats BJP wrested from TRS. They also hope to do well in Greater Hyderabad, where the party retained Secunderabad seat.

As BJP was gearing up to woo Hindu voters, especially in urban pockets, KCR seem to have changed his strategy to counter BJP by differing with his ally AIMIM over various issues.

Unlike Assembly and Lok Sabha polls when TRS and AIMIM had undeclared understanding, AIMIM is likely to contest municipal elections on its own.

Political analyst Telakapalli Ravi, however, says regional parties play “great game of opportunism” and TRS is no exception.

“Remember how KCR outwitted BJP CMs in reaching out Modi on demonetisation. There is no occasion when he confronted the Centre except certain symbolic fights and election speeches .His projected Federal front was seen more as a ploy and immediately after the results he declared BJP is not an enemy,” Ravi told IANS.

“Perhaps KCR is the only leader sailing with Majlis yet comforting Modi. Similarly, TRS voting for 370 Bill is condoned by Majlis. This is great game of opportunism practiced by many regional outfits including YSRCP and TDP,” Ravi added.

Telugu CMs cross limits in Swamijis appeasement

The impact of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s style is enormous in Telugu states. His latest contribution is the increasing demand for the Swamijis in both the states. KCR’s patronage has given lot of publicity for Sarada Peetham Swaroopananda Swami. KCR made even Andhra CM Jaganmohan Reddy to give high priority to Swaroopananda whose stature rose by leaps and bounds in Telugu states in the past five years.

KCR’s undue promotion of Sarada Peetham has angered Tridandi China Jeeyar Swamiji who began airing views against Telangana CM before mutual acquaintances.

Immediately, KCR got to know about this and pacified Jeeyar Swamiji by asking him to conduct Maha Sudarsana Yagam soon. This has resolved the differences for now.
Analysts draw comparisons with past CMs and how they maintained safe distance from Swamijis. NTR himself wore Saffron robes calling himself a Sanyasi but he never crossed limits in relations with the Peethams and Swamijis. Chandrababu Naidu used to promote meditation gurus like Inner Engineering Guru Jaggi Vasudev and Art of Living Ravi Shankar.

Healthcare services hit in Telangana over NMC Bill

0

Healthcare services at government-run hospitals in Telangana were affected on Friday as junior doctors boycotted all emergency services to protest against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill 2019.

On a call given by Telangana Junior Doctors Association (TJUDA), 3,500 junior doctors at government-run teaching hospitals intensified their protest by boycotting emergency duties.

Outpatient and emergency services at Hyderabad’s Osmania Hospital and Gandhi Hospital, two biggest government-run healthcare facilities, came to a halt.

The services also came to a standstill at Niluofer Hospital, the biggest government-run facility for children. A similar situation was witnessed at MGM Hospital in Warangal.

Poor patients coming from various parts of the state suffered as junior doctors stayed away from their duties. The regular staff proved insufficient to cater to a large number of patients. Many waited for hours and with no option left they had to approach private hospitals for emergency treatment.

Some junior doctors continued indefinite hunger strike at the Gandhi Hospital, demanding the withdrawal of the NMC Bill.

Officials said they were using the services of the faculty to deal with the situation.

Junior doctors had been boycotting elective or non-emergency services for the past two days. TJUDA said it intensified the protest as part of the ongoing nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The protesting doctors have called the NMC Bill anti-poor and anti-student. The Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

Junior doctors say the Bill will promote quackery as it allows non-MBBS graduates to become licensed practitioners. They believe the Bill would affect the quality of medical education and thereby work against the interests of the poor.

Two Telugu states will unite in future: former union minister Jairam Ramesh

0

Jairam Ramesh, Congress leader and the master brain behind AP reorg act, predicted two Telugu states AP and Telangana will unite in future. His statement created ripples in political circles and some also doubted whether he is speaking in personal capacity or does his statement has approval from the party. Details as below.

Jairam Ramesh is the former minister in UPA and he was the one who drafted the bill for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh into two states. Despite huge protests from Seemandhra region and despite the political pundits predicting this decision will completely destroy the prospects of the party in both Telugu states, he was one among those who supported the bifurcation of the state. The AP reorganization act, that has been criticized as unilateral and unjust towards AP, has been drafted by him. He recently he made a statement that both the Telugu states would unite in future. He added that, this may not be realized when KCR is in the ruling but later, this will happen and Congress party itself will unite these two states. Jairam Ramesh opined that the solution to the probelms faced by both the states is the reunification of the state. He reminded that two Germanys which reunited after 50 years of separation and predicted Koreas also will unite.

However, his statement looks very silly and seems to be Congress now realized that it didnt reap any political benefit by bifurcating the state. If Congress really plans to reunite for the sake of political benefits, it will a big blunder as both the states will oppose such decision.

Another Maha Yagam by KCR for Telangana wellness

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is returning to his spiritual path once again. This time, he is all set to take up a Maha Sudarshana Yagam at Yadadri. Accompanied by My Home Chairman Jupally Rameswara Rao, KCR visited and held talks with Vyshnava Peethadhipathi China Jeeyar Swamiji. In the past, KCR had hit national headlines by conducting the Chandi Yagam in a very grand manner.

Once again, KCR is inviting President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Union Ministers, BJP top leaders from Delhi and also Governors, Chief Ministers and Ministers from all other states in the country. The Maha Sudarsana Yagam is going to be held in a majestic way with over 1048 Yagnagundams in an 100-acre area. Over 3,000 Ritwiks and 3,000 priests will be taking part in the yagam.

KCR is always in the forefront of conducting the Yagams in a very large scale despite criticism from the rivals. In the last elections, Prime Minister Modi hit hard at KCR for trusting astrologers and ‘Nimbu, Mirchi’ rather than his own strength but TRS boss hit back asking how does it concern the BJP. KCR’s strategy will be to retain his party hold on a large chunk of Hindu vote bank on which BJP is setting its sights.

KCR overjoyed over growing real estate in Hyderabad

In the last two months, the prices of lands and apartment complexes in Hyderabad have begun increasing at a steady pace. There are no strong reasons for this trend from within Telangana state. No new great projects and no addition of infrastructure facilities like roads. The KCR government is elated over the sudden bonanza in real estate values overall in and around Hyderabad Capital City.

CM KCR has told his senior officials that there will be no need for major financial difficulties as the revenue from real estate registrations in Hyderabad will increase by another Rs. 10,000 crore in the near future. Already, there are higher number of property transactions. This is despite abnormal hike in values.

Analysts say that the one single reason for KCR’s jubilation is the downfall of Amaravati Capital City which has caused richer and middle class sections to look towards mostly Hyderabad. As construction works are stopped in AP Capital, most of the outsourced employees and workers have made a beeline to Hyderabad where they previously worked. Andhras’ reverse migration has already started to Hyderabad and this will only pick up speed in the coming months. The prevailing sentiment is that there are no more chances for big loans from global banks to begin huge projects in AP. There will be no job opportunities eventually.

TRS may face challenge from BJP in municipal polls

0

After a setback in the recent Lok Sabha polls, Telangana’s ruling TRS is gearing up to bounce back in ensuing elections to urban local bodies but may face a stiff challenge from a spirited opposition, mainly the BJP.

Elections to 132 municipalities are likely to be held next month when the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will be looking to repeat the performance of Assembly elections held in December 2018 and subsequent panchayat polls.

Buoyed by the massive inroads it made in the Lok Sabha elections by winning four seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to give a tough fight to the TRS.

Trying to project itself as the alternative to the ruling party, BJP is looking to build on its victory in Secunderabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

BJP retained Secunderabad and wrest three seats from TRS while Congress also came up with good performance to bag three seats. Out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state, TRS won nine seats while its ally All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) retained the lone seat. However, the results were a setback for TRS, which was confident of a clean sweep.

TRS, which swept the rural local body elections held last month, is confident of repeating the performance in municipal polls. BJP, however, is hopeful of cashing in on the perceived support among urban voters to bag majority of municipalities.

With BJP going aggressive with its best-ever performance in Lok Sabha polls in Telangana by polling 19 per cent votes, its leaders are confident of the party emerging as an alternative to TRS and storming to power in 2023 elections.

Signalling the significance the party attached to Telangana, party’s national president Amit Shah chose Telangana to launch the membership drive. He asked the party cadre to increase the party’s vote share in the coming elections to 50 per cent.

Though the BJP state leadership had set a membership target of 16 lakh, Shah revised it to 18 lakh. As part of ‘Mission 2023’, Shah plans to visit Telangana every month to strengthen the organisation.

“BJP will contest all the seats in the municipal polls and we are confident that the party will win majority of the seats,” said state BJP chief K. Laxman.

Though the Congress did well in the Lok Sabha polls to win three seats, the party suffered a huge blow after the results with 12 out of its 18 MLAs merging with TRS. The party has also lost the status of main opposition party in the Assembly.

Other opposition parties are also in no mood to join hands with Congress for the municipal elections. The Left parties and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) plan to contest the polls on their own.

Congress had contested Assembly elections in alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Communist Party of India (CPI) and TJS. However, TRS retained power, winning 88 seats in the 119-member Assembly. Its ally AIMIM retained seven seats. Congress could secure 19 seats while TDP got two. The BJP got just one seat.

With other opposition parties posing no major threat, the TRS is focusing on BJP, especially in the four Lok Sabha seats that it won.

Leading the party in another poll battle, TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao is busy holding meetings with the party leaders to work out a strategy to counter BJP.

The ruling party is continuing its aggressive membership drive. It claims to have enrolled 40 lakh members so far and hopes that the total number will go up to 60 lakh in next few days.

Rama Rao, who is son of TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, is confident that the welfare schemes being implemented by the government and its focus on addressing people’s problems at local level would once again help it come out with flying colours.

No quota plan, Telangana to ask pvt sector to hire locals

0

While Andhra Pradesh has passed a bill marking 75 per cent reservation in jobs for locals in the private sector, its sibling Telangana has no such proposal, though the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is encouraging the private players to recruit more locals by offering them incentives.

Telangana has 95 per cent reservation for locals in government jobs.

TRS leaders say the government is not likely to come out with any rule for reservation for locals in private companies as it could hurt the industry and affect the flow of investments into the state.

Though TRS-led the movement for Telangana state with the slogan of ‘water, resources and jobs’, it did not push for reserving quota in private industry for locals.

This is believed to be mainly because Hyderabad, the Information Technology hub which drives the state’s economic growth, has a cosmopolitan culture with national and global giants employing people from across the country.

Analysts say any move to reserve quota for locals in industries may upset the investors in the city, also known for pharma, life sciences, aerospace and defence industry.

Though TRS always maintained that creating jobs for locals in both public and private sectors is its priority, it did not frame any rules in this regard for the industry. The government is offering some incentives to industries employing local people but it is not insisting that they hire locals across the board.

The Industry Department expects industries coming up outside Hyderabad to provide at least low-level jobs to locals.

The opposition parties too fought with the TRS government over the issue of filling vacancies in government jobs. They targeted Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for failing to keep his word to provide one lakh jobs to educated youth.

The TRS, however, claims that steps were taken to fill the vacancies in various departments.

Following the new zonal system notified last year by the Ministry of Home Affairs, local reservation in all cadres was increased to 95 per cent.

The government created seven zones and two multi-zones to address the imbalance in providing employment opportunities in the government sector to people of backward areas.

The new zonal system was introduced after the government reorganised the districts to increase their number to 31 from 10. Under this system, even higher-level posts were reserved for locals.

Telangana doubles social security pension

0

The Telangana government on Wednesday decided to hike monthly pension for various categories of beneficiaries from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2016.

The decision was taken at the state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

The meeting, which ended Wednesday night, took the decision on increasing the pension to implement the poll promise of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

It is decided to increase the pension from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,016 to old age people, widows, toddy workers, handloom workers, single women, filaria- affected persons and people with AIDS.

The pension for the differently-abled and aged artistes has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016 and this will be implemented from June.

The hike in pension would cost the state exchequer Rs 12,000 crore per year. The state government will bear Rs 11,800 crores while the Centre will spend Rs 200 crore.

The documents relating to increased pension amounts will be distributed among beneficiaries in all Assembly constituencies from July 20. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Zilla Parishad chairpersons will participate in the programme.

The cabinet has also decided to reduce the old-age pension scheme eligibility age from 65 to 57 years in tune with the promise made in TRS election manifesto. The cabinet has instructed the officials concerned to prepare the list of persons of 57 years of age.

The cabinet gave approval to the draft of the new Municipal Bill. The CM will introduce the draft bill in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Both the Houses will debate and pass the bill.

Blow to KCR as TRS MP meets Amit Shah

0

The Bharatiya Janata Party is slowly stepping up its efforts to corner Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhara Rao. TRS Rajya Sabha MP Dharmapuri Srinivas has created political sensation by meeting with Amit Shah in Delhi. His meeting triggered speculation that DS has almost taken the plunge into the BJP. His RS term is there till 2022. DS took the decision amid allegations that he did not work for TRS winning chances in last parliamentary elections.

Already, DS’s son Aravind has won Nizamabad MP seat on BJP ticket. He defeated KCR’s daughter Kavita. This victory brought a lot of confidence and raised its expectations for its future plans. The TRS leaders have levelled allegations against Dharmapuri Srinivas that he has not worked for the victory of Kavita in this election.

KCR has now started efforts to gather evidence of DS anti-party activities. TRS chief is planning to complain to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu for taking action against DS. On the other hand, the BJP has made all arrangements for accommodating and protecting DS. Political analysts say that the action of a senior leader like Dharmapuri Srinivas is not surprising but his exit will definitely cause a loss to TRS in the coming days.

Telangana HC stays demolition of Secretariat, Errum Manzil

0

The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the state government not to demolish the existing Secretariat buildings and the Errum Manzil in order to construct a new Secretariat and Assembly till further orders.

Hearing a batch of petitions against the state government’s plans to construct new Secretariat complex by demolishing the existing the structures and build new Assembly building by razing heritage building Errum Manzil, the court asked the government not to take any further action till further orders.

The government had sought 15 days time to file its counter affidavit to the petitions. However, with the court directing it not to take up demolition till further orders, the government conveyed that it will file the counter later in the day.

The opposition parties and various non-political groups have opposed the government’s plans, calling it waste of public money.

Descendants of Nawab Fakrul Mulk, a noble of erstwhile Hyderabad State, have also opposed the plans to demolish Errum Manzil, a family palace built by him about 150 years ago.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on June 27 laid the foundation stone for both the buildings.

While the new Secretariat complex will be built at a cost of Rs 400 crore by demolishing existing structures near Hussain Sagar lake, the Assembly building will be constructed by razing Errum Manzil, which currently houses office of Roads and Buildings Department. Assembly building will be constructed at a cost Rs 100 crore.

Opposing the government plans, the opposition parties said this would waste the public money as the existing buildings are stable and continue to serve the purpose.

KCR shut 4,000 government schools: Congress

0

The Congress on Monday said the K. Chandrashekar Rao government in Telangana has shut down 4,000 state-run schools while 2,000 schools were to face closure.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted: “The KCR government shut down 4,000 schools in the last tenure and another 2,000 schools face closure. Dismantling is the word for KCR – from Secretariat buildings to Public Education!,”

Sharing a media report claiming that around 2,000 schools in the state were at closure due to low enrollment, Surjewala termed it as “KCR’s latest body blow to Telengana’s public education”.

KCR Federal Front funds to anti-BJP regional parties?

0

The Modi-Shah duo have chosen KCR and his son KTR as their immediate target in the South India. What are the exact political reasons behind this? Political circles are full of rumours that the BJP has got definite information about how KCR has planned to use his Federal Front to destabilise their party at the national level. Amit Shah has also got information that under the cover of his front, KCR has provided large-scale election funds to anti-BJP leaders in different states including Mamata Banerjee.

During his private talks, Amit Shah told his party colleagues that he was not at all happy with the party’s good show in North Indian states. He said that the BJP’s real strength would be completely achieved only when the party is in power in South Indian states as well. For this, he told his party men about KCR’s secret plans to weaken BJP and asked them to get all information about financial sources of the TRS boss.

The Modi-Shah duo are also using the IT department which has already completed the task of financial sources of industrialists and businessmen who are supporting KCR. Undoubtedly, the BJP feels that KCR is the immediate threat to their plans to strengthen BJP in South India. In the coming days, KCR is expected to face much more political heat just like Chandrababu Naidu prior to the recent election.

Amit Shah sips tea at Telangana tribal woman’s home

0

The much-anticipated visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah began in Telangana today amid a lot of fanfare. Immediately on arrival in Hyderabad today afternoon, he visited the home of a poor tribal woman named Soni Nayak at Ranganaraka Tanda in Balapur mandal. He along with other BJP leaders sipped tea offered by her. Amit Shah also took family group photos with her. The highlight of the occasion was that Shah gave the privilege of giving first membership to Soni Nayak on the inaugural day of the present drive.

Political analysts described this as a timely message given by the BJP leadership to CM K Chandrasekhara Rao. The TRS boss has been facing a typical problem in tribal areas these days. His TRS party leaders along with local tribals are clashing with forest department officials. KCR is taking political advantage out of this by winning the favour of tribals in respect of their rights over Podu lands.

Amit Shah made it a point to highlight how much interested his party is to resolve the problems of tribals and give them their rightful place in the party. His visit came amid strong indications that the Modi-Shah duo have chosen KCR and his son KTR as the immediate targets in the Telugu states.

All-round attack on KCR on tribals and suicides

0

It seems that all the troubles are knocking at the doors of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. He enjoyed and celebrated the victory of his partner Jaganmohan Reddy for over a month but things changed overnight for bad. He is not able to show his face to PM Modi. His party financier Rameswara Rao is under IT scanner. Now, enough time is being given to anti-KCR MPs to highlight burning issues and KCR failures in the Lok Sabha. The TRS MPs had objected to this in front of Lok Sabha Speaker who expressed his inability to help them as MPs have the freedom to pick up their issues.

First, BJP Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar raised the issue of 27 intermediate students’ suicides sheerly because of the KCR government’s failure. Sanjay said that these students ended their lives as the Globarina company specially brought in by the Telangana government committed grievous mistakes. Congress MP Revanth Reddy also raised the tribals lands issue. The ruling TRS leaders are attacking and injuring forest department officials over Podu lands. Revanth said that this was because the TRS lost in the Godavari river nearby areas. He sought action against the TRS by the Central Government agencies.

What makes BJP so confident to win Telugu states?

0

The Modi-Shah duo are making non-stop efforts to somehow win over the twin Telugu states. They laid strong foundation for this in 2019 election. They made sure that the Congress and its ally TDP bite the dust in Telangana and Andhra respectively. Now, their only challenge is to polarise the Hindu voters effectively and consolidate their position to emerge as immediate alternative in both states.

The singular reason for the BJP confidence is the growing unpopularity of both TRS and YCP governments among the majority Hindu populations in the two states. This is why Union Home Minister Amit Shah is personally arriving in Hyderabad on June 6 to attend the inaugural of the BJP membership drive. Shah is determined to make considerable gains. In his new capacity, he got additional scope to reach out and win over more leaders and cadres from other parties.

KCR’s unpopular projects and decisions are another reason for BJP hopes. In Andhra, its only challenge is to weaken the TDP and capture its base. YCP’s Christian tag is soft target for BJP which is good at polarising voters along religious lines.

Centre’s move to keep KCR out of national agri panel draws flak

0

The Centre’s move to leave out Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao from a high-powered committee of chief ministers on agriculture has drawn flak from his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The TRS believes that keeping out KCR, as Rao is popularly known, is a political decision by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre.

The party feels that the country could have benefited from KCR’s vision and his ideas in transforming agriculture as the Centre was already replicating his ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme to provide investment support to farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday constituted a nine-member committee of Chief Ministers, headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, to help transform agriculture by increasing farmers’ income.

The panel — comprising Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh — has been asked to submit in two months, its report suggesting policy measures to transform agriculture by attracting investments and raising growth in food processing.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand are also part of the panel.

“It is unfortunate if they don’t appreciate KCR’s efforts for the development of agriculture in the state and also his contribution at the Centre. It is also unfortunate that even after replicating Telangana’s schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’, they do not think his experience and vision is needed for the country,” TRS spokesman Abid Rasool Khan told IANS.

He pointed out that Telangana was path-breaker in the agriculture sector as it reduced farmers’ suicides by providing them 24-hour electricity and ample water, completing irrigation projects in record time and implementing innovative schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’ to provide financial assistance for cultivation and ‘Rythu Beema’ to offer free life insurance.

“All his experience would have helped the Centre in policy making. I think, it is only a political decision they have taken,” said Khan.

The pro-TRS media has also found fault with the Centre’s move to keep KCR out of the panel, saying it reeked of prejudice against states that had success stories to tell.

KCR, who had mooted a Federal Front comprising non-BJP and non-Congress parties before the Lok Sabha elections, had also announced that agriculture would be top on the national agenda of the proposed alliance.

The Federal Front could not take off as BJP-led NDA retained power with a huge majority.
