Take measures to protect Wakf properties: Andhra CM

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday directed officials to take all measures to protect Wakf properties.

“Conduct a comprehensive study on Wakf lands, build compound walls around the properties and look into possibilities if they can be constructed under employment guarantee programme,” he said.

Holding a review meeting on the issue at his camp office, he instructed officials to appoint home guards for security of wakf lands.

“Take suggestions from experts to which extent they can be utilised,” he said.

The Chief Minister told officials to conduct a survey on Wakf lands along with YSR Jaganna comprehensive land survey.

Similarly, Reddy directed officials to set up a Wakf Tribunal in Kurnool.

Meanwhile, officials informed the CM that 500 acres of Wakf lands were freed from encroachments after the YSRCP came to power.

Reddy also directed officials to open new cemeteries for minorities as a priority this year and ensure honorariums are being paid to imams, and pastors on time.

Is Jagan influencing CPI through backdoor?

1

Is AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy influencing the Left parties through the backdoor? Is he using the caste card to corner the Left leaders who are critical of the YSRCP government? What’s behind a section of the party calling Chandrababu a lackey of the corporates at a time when he is not in the government?

The CPI state council held on Sunday at Vijayawada was a stormy affair. A section of the party have strongly criticised state secretary K Ramakrishna for “targeting” YSRCP and YS Jagan. They said that the continuous criticism of YS Jagan was actually painting the party as pro-Chandrababu. “Why should we look pro-Chandrababu Naidu, who is seen as a friend of the corporate,” asked several leaders belonging to a particular social group.

This group reportedly said that Jagan’s welfare schemes were actually proving beneficial to the weaker sections. They suggested that the party maintain equal distance between both the TDP and the YSRCP. This section said that the CPM was being seen as pro-Chandrababu. They said personal attack on YS Jagan was one thing and criticising his policies was another. Interestingly, the CPI leaders wanted Ramakrishna to take a leaf out of CPM, which was adopting a more ‘nuanced’ approach.

Ramakrishna tried to explain that he was working as per the guidance of the party and that Jagan was not his personal enemy. Even Narayana, the national leader of the party, tried to defend Ramakrishna. But the vocal section did not relent. The attack appeared concerted and well-planned.

Jagan behind Kadapa farmers to obstruct KCR’s Palamur-RR project?

1

After dragging Telangana state government to Supreme Court over the issue of hydel power generation at Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala projects by TS Genco, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be making moves to obstruct Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s pet project, the Palamur-Rangareddy lift irrigation project over Krishna river.

KCR has recently decided to speed up this project and complete it by this year-end to meet irrigation and drinking water needs of South Telangana districts.

As per KCR’s directions, the Telangana officials have decided to hold public hearing on August 10 to get Centre’s environmental clearance for the project.

However, few farmers from Kadapa filed a petition in the National Green Tribunal all of a sudden seeking to halt public hearing.

Political circles are abuzz that AP CM YS Jagan is behind Kadapa farmers to stall Palamur project. He only asked and helped farmers in filing the petition and engaged several law experts to draft a petition strongly and put forth strong arguments before NGT against Palamur RR project.

The Kadapa farmers told NGT that Telangana government is taking up project illegally on Krishna river. They said TS government cheated by stating earlier that in the first phase they will take up works only to meet drinking water needs but in reality they have taken up works to divert 90TMCs from Srisailam dam. If that happens, they experssed concern that Rayalaseema will face severe irrigation and drinking water crisis.

TRS leaders suspect that only Kadapa farmers filing petition clearly shows that Jagan is behind them.

The NGT is expected to hear the case on Monday.

YS Jagan gives earful to ministers for not responding on Pulichintala Gate issue

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to be upset with the lackadaisical approach of some of his ministers in countering the criticism of his government. He is said to have taken a serious view of some ministers not even bothering about trying to deflect criticism. He is said to have asked as to why the ministers were silent even when the opposition was attacking them.

The Cabinet meeting reportedly saw YS Jagan in an angry mood. He is said to have asked some ministers why they did not respond to criticism by two BJP ministers. The CM reportedly referred to two BJP leaders, who were on an attack mode. He referred to the Pulichintala project game collapse issue and felt that the ruling party ministers could not counter the propaganda of the Opposition. He is said to have specifically asked three ministers for not responding to the opposition attack.

Meanwhile, several ministers in the YSRCP government are being accused of being silent on various issues. Even on issues that needed to be responded to, the ministers remained mute spectators. Sources say that several ministers are unsure of whether they would continue as ministers as YS Jagan is set to take up a massive rejig of his council of ministers. Unsure of their continuance, several ministers are not coming forward to defend the government.

YS Jagan reportedly told the ministers that he would personally monitor the inaction of the ministers on various issues. “Why are you not countering the TDP and BJP propaganda? What makes you remain silent,” he is said to have asked.

Sindhu lauds Andhra govt’s schemes for sportspersons

3

Ace shuttler and Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist P.V. Sindhu on Friday praised the Andhra Pradesh government for introducing schemes to encourage sportspersons.

Appreciating the state government for reserving 2 per cent jobs for sportspersons in government posts, Sindhu said, “It is appreciable to know that the state government is giving YSR awards to sportspersons to encourage them.”

Sindhu, who followed up her silver-winning effort at the 2016 Rio Olympics with a bronze at the Tokyo Games earlier this week, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the Secretariat on Friday along with her parents and elder sister.

Sindhu also showed her Olympic medal to the Chief Minister.

The ace shuttler recalled that she had met the Chief Minister before embarking on her Olympic journey and how Reddy encouraged her to bring home a medal.

“He (Reddy) has told me to win more medals in the future and bring laurels to the state and the country,” Sindhu said after the meeting.

Before Sindhu left for Tokyo, Reddy had given her a copy of the government order allocating her 2 acres of land to set up a badminton academy in the port city of Visakhapatnam.

When asked if she would open an academy, Sindhu said she would do it soon.

Sindhu and her family members also visited the Durgamma temple at Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on Friday.

Sindhu said she is a devotee of the deity and visits the temple regularly.

Andhra to set up 4,530 digital libraries at Rs 140 cr

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to prepare and action plan to construct 4,530 digital libraries.

“Digital libraries will be setup in all the village panchayats across the state to prepare an action plan for the construction of 4,530 digital libraries,” said Reddy.

He held a review meeting on IT and digital libraries at his camp office and noted that these libraries should be useful to graduate students along with primary and secondary education.

The Chief Minister directed officials to make study material for common entrance tests available in these libraries, along with providing uninterrupted internet facility to village secretariats and rythu bharosa kendras (RBKs).

Reddy instructed officials to provide three desktops, UPS, desktop barcode printer, scanner, laser printer, software, anti-virus software, unlimited bandwidth internet along with minimum facilities in the digital libraries, including completing the construction of data centres for storage.

Similarly, he also directed officials to provide facilities such as three desktop tables, system chairs, visitor chairs, tube lights, fans, iron racks, newspapers and magazines in the digital libraries.

The state government will spend Rs 140 crore on these libraries in the first phase, which is expected to start on August 15.

Meanwhile, Reddy instructed officials to take measures to strengthen work from home (WFH) concept and provide high speed internet in villages.

Does Lakshmi Parvathi know what’s in Jagan’s mind?

0

Normally, Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi knows how to keep her politics and her literary activity separate. On political forums, she doesn’t talk about literature and on literary forums, she doesn’t talk politics. But, her recent comments at a literary meet in Srikakulam have stirred up the political hornet’s nest.

Lakshmi Parvathy’s only electoral success is in Pathapatnam. From 1996 to 1999, she was an MLA from Pathapatnam. The next time she contested from the same constituency, she polled a mere 1500 votes. That was the end of her electoral ambitions. But, she has been keeping contact with the literary and political circles of the district ever since. Recently, she was in Srikakulam for a book release function. But, it was her political comments that have become a topic of heated debate.

Speaking at the function, she wished former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and said that he would soon become a minister in the cabinet reshuffle. Dharmana too shared the dais with her. As of now, Dharmana’s brother Dharmana Krishna Das is a minister in Jagan’s cabinet. Not just that. He is one of the five deputy CMs of Andhra Pradesh. Did she mean that Krishna Das would be replaced by Prasada Rao? What’s behind her comments? Did she have some inkling of what’s going on in Jagan’s mind? Was it an off-the-cuff comment or does she have some inside information?

It is well-known that Dhamana Prasada Rao is unhappy with being sidelined in the party. While his brother Krishna Das is a key member of Jagan’s inner coterie, Prasada Rao has no role whatsoever. In fact, he was with Jagan when not many were willing to join him. Yet, he remained ignored when YSRCP came to power. Given all these things, Lakshmi Parvathi’s comments are being taken quite seriously. The political circles are hotly debating if she had some prior information and was deliberately airing it.

Prioritise inoculating teachers: Jagan

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday directed officials to give top priority to teachers in the vaccination programme as schools are set to reopen on August 16.

Reddy held a review meeting on the prevailing coronavirus pandemic situation in the state wherein he also called for expediting the ‘Nadu Nedu’ work in hospitals within the stipulated time.

“Complete the vaccination process to teachers soon and ensure that Covid protocols are strictly followed,” said the Chief Minister.

He instructed officials to ensure that large crowds are avoided and not more than 150 people allowed to attend weddings, even as they raise awareness on Covid containment measures.

Reddy directed the same at religious events and called on people to adopt all precautions and stay alert in the coming two months.

“Conduct only RTPCR tests as they are more accurate compared to other tests andcontinue door to door surveys, testing people with symptoms and monitor 104 services regularly for uninterrupted services,” he noted.

The Chief Minister directed officials to connect village clinics with PHCs through video conference and linking them with the labs as well.

He directed health records of people to be mapped in the villages and those details should be available at village clinics through Aarogyasri cards which can be known using QR code of Aarogyasri cards.

“These details will help the doctors visiting villages as part of family doctor concept,” he said and instructed officials to complete the works of village clinics by December.

When officials informed Reddy that MLHPs who completed BSc nursing and CPCH courses will be appointed in the village clinics along with ANMs, Reddy said Asha workers should also report in the same clinics.

According to officials, 12 types of primary treatment methods, 14 types of tests and 65 types of medicines will be available at the village clinics.

Likewise, 67 types of basic medical equipment will be available, including telemedicine services.

Meanwhile, officials informed the CM that work has been started for medical colleges in Paderu, Vizianagaram, Piduguralla and Machilipatnam.

However, a couple of public interest litigations (PILs) were filed against the land parcels of Anakapalli and Nandyala medical colleges.

Similarly, the contractors are preparing to start work in Amalapuram, Rajahmundry, Palakollu, Eluru, Bapatla, Markapuram, Madanapalle, Penukonda and Adoni.

“Pay special attention to the ‘Nadu Nedu’ programme in the health sectors… prepare an action plan in this regard. Government hospitals should be on par with corporate hospitals such that government employees also should choose government hospitals over private hospitals for treatment,” the CM added.

Reddy directed officials to prepare an SOP defining ownership policies, including focusing on hospital maintenance.

Why this straight-talking MLA is giving sleepless nights to YS Jagan?

0

The ruling YSRCP these days is worried about MP RaghuramakrishnamRaju or even Jagan’s bête noire Chandrababu Naidu. It is more worried about an MLA from its own party. This MLA is so low profile that not even his own party leaders outside his constituency know him. He is a silent, blink-and-you-miss kind of person who has never been in the news.

This MLA is Chenna Keshava Reddy of Yemmiganuru. Though a four-time MLA, he is largely unknown because of his low profile attitude. He is not known to make comments or address press meets. But, this MLA has suddenly made comments that have sent tremors across the state. The YSRCP Is now worried that his comments might offend carefully nurtured soft Hindu and pro-Dalit image of the YSRCP.

During the recent Bakrid festival of the Muslims, Hindu organizations have strongly opposed the butchering of cows citing the anti-cow slaughter laws in the state and the country. This led to a communal clash, in which one person suffered injuries. Soon after this incident, the usually silent and non-reactive MLA called for a press conference and spoke in support of cow slaughter. He said the anti-cow slaughter laws were outdated and that they should be repealed. This has led to a state-wide furore. This was a shock to YS Jagan, who was very systematically trying to wipe off the anti-Hindu image using some swamijis.

But, he also knows that it is impossible to make Chennakeshava Reddy eat his own words. So, he kept quiet and reportedly instructed his party leaders not to comment on Chenna Keshava Reddy’s anti-cow worship comments. Last month too, Chenna Keshava Reddy criticized the Dalits for intruding into public land in the name of the construction of a church. This has angered the Dalit voters and the party is worried about this too.

It feels comments by Chenna Keshava Reddy might damage the party’s image and could hurt the carefully built image of being a soft Hindu. However, it also knows that Chenna Keshava Reddy is a tough nut to crack and it is difficult to make him retract his comments. So, it is simply waiting for the controversy to subside.

Andhra announces Rs 3L compensation for 6 deceased Odisha labourers

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to six migrant labourers from Odisha, who died in Guntur district recently.

“Reddy directed the concerned officials to give Rs 3 lakh each to the deceased migrant labourers’ kin,” said an official.

The Chief Minister said the compensation should be handed over as a humanitarian gesture to the labourers’ kin, considering that they came to the state in search of livelihood.

Similarly, Reddy also instructed the concerned officials to ensure that the owners of the shrimp ponds who engaged the labourers also pay compensation to the labourers’ kin.

The six workers from Odisha were found dead near a shrimp pond in Lankavanidibba village in Guntur district on Thursday night.

The police are investigating the cause of death of the six men who were working in the shrimp ponds.

Some locals are suspecting that the workers could have died of electrocution, suspecting the power lines to have fallen on their shed. Burn injuries were also found on the bodies of the deceased workers.

The six men came to the district in search of livelihood only a few months ago.

Jagan can never silence our voices: Nara Lokesh

1

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary Nara Lokesh on Friday stated that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy can never silence their voices.

“Jagan Reddy can never silence our voices. We will continue to fight on behalf of people,” said Lokesh.

He made these remarks in the light of the arrest of senior TDP leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao.

Rao has been arrested for allegedly perpetrating an attack on ruling YSRCP leaders.

However, the TDP’s second in command countered that Rao was fighting illegal mining in the Kondapalli forest region.

“The fascist government has filed a false SC/ST case on Rao. His only fault was to fight against the rampant illegal mining in the Kondapalli forest region,” claimed Lokesh.

He termed the police case on Rao as a ‘reverse case’, interpreting it as allegedly a case on the person who was attacked rather than on the attackers.

“Filing a case on a victim is reverse. In the reign of a reverse chief minister, everything is reverse,” he claimed.

Lokesh alleged that YSRCP MLA Vasanta Krishna Mohan has openly threatened Rao.

“If a YSRCP MLA can openly threaten Rao and harm him right in front of police, imagine what these goondas would do to common citizens,” he alleged.

According to the TDP national general secretary, the day isn’t far when people would teach a lesson to the ‘fascist’ YSRCP leaders a lesson.

CBI drags Jagan bail case again!

1

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has again failed to submit written arguments in CBI Court, Nampally, Hyderabad on Friday (today) in the case pertaining to cancellation of bail granted to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy forcing the court to adjourn the case yet again to August 25.

The petition was filed by YSRCP rebel MP K.Raghurama Krisha Raju in April this year seeking cancellation of bail granted to YS Jagan.

Though arguments in this case have been completed, the CBI is seeking more time to file written arguments, in this case, delaying the judgement.

The case has been coming up for hearing at least twice or thrice every month since then but the judgement is delayed due to failure of CBI in submitting written arguments.

On Friday, when the case came up for hearing again, the CBI advocate sought more time to file arguments saying that there is no information from CBI in this regard.

Raju’s lawyer Venkatesh strongly objected to this saying that the CBI is deliberately delaying the case by not filing arguments and seeking more time under one pretext or the other.

The CBI opposed bail to Jagan when he was Opposition leader but it is not opposing bail after he became CM.

Why does Jagan government dreads August 1

First of August… the AP government is dreading the very mention of this word. By this date, the AP Government needs at least Rs 10000 crore to pay the salaries of the employees, pensions of the retirees, and payment of various welfare pensions., besides making arrangements for daily expenditure of the government. The government might somehow or the other arrange for the welfare pensions. But, is there a guarantee that the government employees and pensioners will get their salaries and pensions on August 1?

The only way the government can pay the salaries is by taking an overdraft. But, the government has already taken an overdraft and now has no other way of borrowings. According to the directions of the 15th finance commission, the AP government has already overshot its borrowing limit.

This only means that the employees and pensioners may have to wait for some more days to get their salaries.. According to the 15th finance commission, the state government cannot borrow beyond Rs 4872 crore. This means it has already borrowed more than this amount. The state government may win accolades for the welfare schemes, but the governance is going down the drain under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

No attempt is made to mop up additional revenue and increase its sources of income. The AP Government is doing neither. At the same time, its welfare expenditure is hitting through the roof. As a result, the state appears to be heading for a financial doom. How long will Jagan keep on spending Rs 10000 crore every month without hiking taxes? What will be the public reaction if he hikes the taxes.

Jagan misusing SC, ST Atrocities Act, alleges TDP

1

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former minister Nakka Anand Babu on Thursday advised Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government to refrain from alleged rampant misuse of the SC, ST Atrocities Act for political vendetta.

He claimed that the government is using this legal provision to suppress the principal opposition party and all the dissenting voices in the state.

“Jagan regime was indeed hatching a conspiracy to get the atrocities law revoked at the national level. Already, the Supreme Court received petitions about the political misuse of this law by the ruling Governments across the country,” said Babu.

The TDP leader asserted that the Supreme Court could take a serious view of the alleged ongoing indiscriminate misuse of the SC/ST law.

He questioned whether the government was making a mockery of the SC/ST law by applying it on former minister and TDP leader Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao.

“CM was not just getting cases filed against the political opponents but he was also getting them jailed,” he alleged.

According to Babu, Reddy ‘opened a dark chapter in the history of the country’ by allegedly getting SC, ST atrocities cases filed against Dalit victims as well.

He demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister as to why he was allegedly misusing the laws created to safeguard Dalits for political and personal victimization.

“The atrocities law was brought in to ensure prevention of atrocities against Dalits. The CM has been openly misusing this law. The Dalit officers were being used to perpetrate political harassment,” he alleged.

He claimed that Reddy came to power with Dalit votes but he was allegedly using them to create chaos in the state.

Babu noted that Dalits were facing unprecedented attacks and victimization ever since Reddy came to power.

“For just opposing sand mafia activities, Dalit youth Vara Prasad was tonsured and humiliated in East Godavari. SC, ST cases were filed against Dalit farmers in Amaravati and they were sent to jail for 20 days. They were handcuffed by the AP police,” he alleged.

Babu made these remarks in the light of the police arresting Rao for allegedly attacking YSRCP leaders.

Jagan transfers Rs 693cr to mothers of students!

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy today (Thursday) transferred Rs 694 crore to the bank accounts of mothers of students under Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme.

The government released first installment of Rs 671crore in April this year.

Second installment was released today.

Third installment will be released in December and last installment in February 2022.

Vested interests behind ‘excess borrowing’ narrative: Andhra

In wake of criticism over the state’s alleged excess borrowing, the Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday accused “vested interests” of carrying out a “misinformation campaign”.

“This is essentially to tarnish the image of the state and thereby cripple the state financially to reap political gains,” an official statement said.

According to the YSRCP government, attempts are being made to create widespread concern amongst the Reserve Bank of India, the Central government, banks and financial institutions, Parliament and the public.

“Did all the liabilities of AP government rise exclusively by the actions of the current government.

“Absolutely not! The erstwhile state of AP was bifurcated in 2014 and this has resulted in the economic deprivation of the state of AP,” it said in the statement.

The government said per capita revenue of Rs 8,979 for Andhra, compared to Telangana’s Rs 15,454 at the end of the first full financial year post bifurcation in 2015-16, is telling of the southern state’s distress.

“Further, all the commitments made to the state on the occasion of the bifurcation have not yet been fulfilled,” it noted.

It pointed a finger at the alleged extravagance of the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government.

“Added to this problem, the misgovernance and expenditure profligacy of the TDP government has resulted in the undue swelling of the liabilities of the state of AP,” it claimed

It said the combined debt of united Andhra Pradesh assigned to the successor state at the time of bifurcation was Rs 97,123 crore, which rose to Rs 1.2 lakh crore on adding the public account share.

“The same has over the five years (2014-19) increased to Rs 2.68 lakh crore. The story does not end here,” it added.

On Monday, BJP Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said he met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the “excessive borrowing” by the state government in violation of financial norms.

Modi targets Jagan’s schemes

2

Here’s another Modi shocker to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Modi’s latest diktat has barred the state governments from using the Central funds only for the scheme or benefit intended. The funds cannt be transferred to another account and adjust the amounts later. This means that the state governments cannot use the funds meant for one scheme for implementing another scheme or programme.

This is sure to rankle YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Till now, his government has been diverting the Central funds meant for Central government schemes and use them for state-run schemes. Later, adjustments would be made in the account books. But, the Modi government’s latest decision has disallowed it. Now, the funds meant for a central government scheme should be spent only for the scheme intended. This would effectively put a check on the state governments. They will have to find financial resources for their own flagship schemes. Interestingly, as many as 20 state governments have given their nod for this new system. AP is yet to give its nod.

According to the latest decision of the Central government, it would initially give only 25 per cent of the funds. The remaining funds would be released only after the state government adds its share of 50 per cent and spend the amount. If the money is not spent, the remaining amounts would not be released. The latest decision will put a huge question mark on the continuance of some of AP Government’s schemes. The State will have to mobilize its own resources for its schemes.
It now remains to be seen how YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government mobilizes funds and continues its schemes. The government might be forced to levy more taxes on the people to support its Navaratna schemes, which are already draining the state’s economy. With the Centre tightening its fist, will it be possible to continue these schemes?

Road contractors humiliate Jagan govt!

0

The YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has pushed the state into bankruptcy since coming to power two years ago in May 2019.

Jagan’s cash dole out schemes in the name of Navaratnalu to consolidate his party’s vote bank has pushed AP into debt trap.

Hardly a day passes for Jagan government without taking loans to make payments.

Against this backdrop, everyone lost confidence on Jagan government that it will pay bills for works done by contractors.

The Jagan government issued tenders recently to repair roads lying in worst condition in AP for the last two years. But no contractor is coming forward to take up works fearing that Jagan government has no money to pay bills.

Contractors are insulting Jagan government by asking bank guarantee for payment of bills.

Contractors insist that Jagan government take loans from banks and banks release funds to them directly as they have no confidence that Jagan government will pay if banks release funds to state government.

Officials say this amounts to contractors humiliating Jagan government as bankrupt government because no where in the country banks pay directly to contractors.

Is this why Jagan is not carving out new districts?

0

Andhra Pradesh is in the throes of a deep economic crisis. Even paying the monthly salaries of the government employees has become a huge problem. Implementing the flagship welfare programmes has become a major challenge for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Every month, the state government is going with a begging bowl even for paying the salaries of the employees.

Given this situation, how will the government of YS Jagan implement its other election time and Padayatra time promises? During the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, YS Jagan had repeatedly said that he would constitute several new districts for better administrative control. He said that this move will bring the government closer to the people. Soon after coming to power, he began holding consultations with senior officers, district incharge ministers and district collectors. He had even constituted a committee under the leadership of the then CS and current election commissioner Neelam Sahni.

However, the financial problems have made him go slow on this. Sources said that the Telangnana experience has mellowed him down. In Telangana, providing quarters, building and other infrastructural facilities has turned out to be a huge burden. Provision of vehicles too was a problem. The administration is also unable to allocate IAS officers for managing the affairs in the newly carved out districts. It is being said that Jagan now has second thoughts over this.

But, YS Jagan is also said to be worried about the political fallout of not carving out the new districts. The consultations and the committee formation on this issue have raised hopes among the people and have hiked the land prices in the proposed district districts. If Jagan backtracks on this issue, there could be public outcry over this. So, this issue of devolution has become something of being caught between the devil and the deepsea.

High Court chides YS Jagan on appointing advisors , what will he do next?

1

The issue of appointing an unusually large number of advisors to the Andhra Pradesh Government has now become controversial. There are over 41 such advisors to CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on various issues and different sectors. Though the other governments too have their own set of advisors, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has appointed a large number of advisors.

While there is no way of knowing what YS Jagan is doing with these advices and also whether these advisors are proffering any advice at all, each of these advisors have swanky offices with fully furnished facilities, staff and attendants. The salary of each advisor is said to be around Rs 2 lakh. These advisors are functioning from Hyderabad, Delhi, Vijayawada, Amaravati and even Visakhapatnam.

For instance, a media advisor of YS Jagan is functioning from New Delhi. He is also found making political comments. Jagan has an NRI affairs advisor, who has never toured a country in the past two years. He functions from both Hyderabad and Vijayawada and has two offices. Jagan’s political advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has a political responsibility as he is a party functionary too.

Given these, the AP High Court took a serious view of appointing so many adviors at a time when the state government is facing severe fund crunch and is finding it difficult to pay even the salaries of its employees. Now that the High Court has severely reprimanded the Government, will there be a change of attitude? Let’s wait and see.
