Warning bells ring for CM Jagan amid rising criticism

6

AP people’s expectations are rising but the delivery of services is falling short. Amid this, warning bells started ringing already for the ruling YCP leaders. No Opposition leader has addressed a roadside public meeting in recent times in Andhra Pradesh. But, as part of his road show, Jana Senani Pawan Kalyan addressed a public meeting in the heart of Gudivada town. Without any great mobilizat on the part of the Jana Sena, a large number of people attend the meeting. Pawan’s show turned out to be a huge success going by how the crowd kept giving a cheering, good response to his aggressive speech.

Also, Nara Lokesh took out a low profile ‘Rythu Kosam’ tour which also got a good response. The success of meetings of Opposition leaders has come as a rude shock to the ruling YCP leaders and cadres.

That too, Pawan’s meet took place in an assembly segment which is represented by Minister Kodali Nani, who has emerged the strongest YCP leader in Coastal Andhra. Pawan had made lots of sarcastic remarks against Kodali that were well received by the crowd. Senani has gone to the extent of mockingly saying that Kodali Nani should stop playing second fiddle to CM Jagan Reddy regardless of his Government’s misdeeds.

Analysts say that the rival leaders’ shows had certainly set the warning bells ringing for the YCP. In just 19 months of its rule, the ruling YCP was facing public heartburn in different aspects. From the farmers’ problems to ration cards to students’ issues, the Government is under huge stress to satisfy all these sections. Clearly, YSR Jagananna cash transfer programmes would not be solely enough to satisfy the people.

No more ‘Jagananna Vidya Deewena’ for PG students

3

The financial situation of Andhra Pradesh is deteriorating day by day. The Jagan Reddy Government is exploring every way to mobilise additional resources. At the same time, it is cutting down on expenditure and obligations. Now, the Government has cancelled the benefits under ‘Jagananna Vidya Deewena’ for the PG students from the 2020-`21 academic year itself.

The latest guideline is applicable to all those post graduate students studying in the private aided and unaided degree colleges in the State. As a result of this order, over 160 colleges were getting badly affected. On the other hand, the respective students and their associations have been demanding and agitating for the continuation of the Vidya Deewena benefits.

The Government has also cancelled the Jagananna Vasathi Deewena benefits for these students. Orders have been issued to the Chief Executive Officer of the AP Centre for Financial Systems and Services (APCFSS) to take necessary steps to implement the guidelines with immediate effect.

The TDP has reacted sharply and slammed Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for making countless promises at the time of elections but now going on cancelling one benefit after another ultimately leaving nothing for the students. Senior MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary said mockingly that Jagan Reddy has given yet another Christmas gift to the young aspirants.

Jagan blames TDP for stopping registration of house sites

5

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s original grand promise was to give registered house sites in the name of women members of the poor families. But now, the registrations could not be done. The Chief Minister had launched only distribution of house site pattas to the beneficiaries. He told the people that he was not able to give registered house sites for his sisters right now because of the conspiracies of some forces.

The CM however asserted that once the legal hurdles were removed, his Government would get these patta house sites formally registered in the name of the beneficiaries. Even in respect of thousands of house sites in Amaravati, these bad forces had created obstacles. However, justice would be done in the Supreme Court of India and house sites would then be given to all the deserving poor families there.

Mr. Jagan further said that the previous TDP regime built a few houses only prior to the elections. But, the YCP Government would build good quality houses for all the 31 lakh families in the State. This would be completed in the next three years. Not just giving the house site but houses would also be constructed for the poor people.

‘ Ala Jaganmohanpuramu lo ‘ colonies all over AP

5

The TDP social media wing has given a filmy, mocking touch to the Jagan Reddy Government’s naming of a colony coming up under its house sites programme. Minister Kanna Babu has given the title ‘YS Jaganmohanapuram’ to the new colony coming up in 103 acres at Nemam in Kakinada rural mandal. Over 3,317 house sites are being given to poor people in this colony. A huge arch with the title has already come up. Jagan and YS photos are also being installed on the arch.

Now, the TDP has started passing funny comments on this. Usually, the Jagan Reddy regime’s all programmes are named in the Kadapa style. ‘Jagananna’ or ‘YSR Jagananna’ titles are normally used. ‘Anna’ is the catchword for CM Jagan who even addresses senior IAS and IPS officers like this. Here, the colony title was given following the film title of Allu Arjun which is ‘Ala Vykuntapuramulo’. The TDP has started making mocking comments on the new title ‘Ala YS Jaganmohanapuram’.

Hailing from the Kapu community, it is but natural for Minister Kanna Babu to give Allu Arjun film title to the project. But it has raised doubts whether this title has gone down well with the beneficiaries of the house sites. Most of these residents would be from SC, ST and BC sections. Mostly, they prefer the ‘Jagananna’ title for their colonies.

Whatever, thousands of such new colonies are going to come up in the 30 lakh house sites being given by the Jagan regime. All these colonies would obviously get either ‘Jagananna’ or ‘YSR Jagananna’ or ‘YS Jaganmohanapuram’ titles.

“Take stringent action against those lending money through online apps at exorbitant interest rates and harassing borrowers,” Reddy said.

In Telangana, police rounded up some people suspected to have been operating these apps.

Reddy also announced ex-gratia to the families of two girls who committed suicide in Guntur and Prakasam districts.

He announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the family of Sowmya, a Class 10 student who committed suicide in Korrapadu. A video has emerged in which Sowmya said she committed suicide due to sexual harassment.

He also announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to the family of Bhuvaneswari, a specially-abled village volunteer, found to have committed suicide at Dasarajupalle in Prakasam district.

Jagan Govt orders Sub-Registrar offices to open on Christmas

1

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has repeatedly said that his Government would be seriously giving lakhs of house sites to the poor families. The muhurat is fixed for Christmas on December 25. Now, the Government has ordered all the Sub-Registrar offices in the State to remain open on this day.

The Government is very serious that the sale agreements should also be registered on the same day. This is being aimed at to show to the poor people how serious the YCP is with respect to their house sites. The Sub-Registrar offices were ordered to remain open from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on that day.

The ruling YCP leaders and the Chief Minister have their own calculations on the house sites distribution. As per the public feedback, the ruling party local leaders and MLAs have benefitted greatly in the acquisition of lands, leveling and distribution of house sites. Nevertheless, the Government is confident that the final distribution would boost the party prospects in local polls.

Also, the same day, over 2.62 lakh TIDCO houses would be distributed to the beneficiaries. There are allegations of tampering of the beneficiaries’ lists but the Government is going ahead with the distribution of the already completed houses.

Record blood donation on Jagan Reddy’s birthday

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday has come as a blessing for all the blood banks, as a record number of people donated blood to commemorate the occasion.

As many as 34,723 people donated blood in a span of eight hours on Monday resulting in the collection of 12,153 litres of blood.

“Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) set a world record with 34,723 people donating blood in eight hours on Reddy’s birthday,” said a statement.

Blood donation camps were set up in all the 175 constituencies of the state as well as some more places in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Nearly 278 blood donation camps were set up.

The ruling party decided to organise these camps as part of the Chief Minister’s birthday celebrations and also recognizing blood shortage in banks due to coronavirus. Several blood banks have benefited from these camps.

Following the mega blood donation drive, state health officials are coordinating with the concerned departments to store the blood.

Wonder Book of Records International certified the blood donation drive and presented a citation and a medal to government Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy at the YSRCP central office as 17,000 units of blood were procured.

Ramakrishna Reddy said more units of blood had been procured than expected.

Not only fans and party activists but MLAs and other leaders also donated blood.

Rajini Vidadala, Chilakaluripet MLA and a popular YSRCP leader, donated blood at a camp in her constituency.

Municipal Minister Botcha Satyanarayana, Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, MLA Usha Sri Charan and several other leaders oversaw the donation camps.

1

The YCP leaders and cadres are celebrating the 47th birthday anniversary of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy all over the Telugu States. The day also marked wide publicity campaigns. The Government also gave front page paper advertisements to coincide with the Jagananna B’day utsav.

While there is this celebratory mood everywhere, CM Jagan is giving his own gift to the people of AP to mark his birthday. He is launching the ‘YSR Jagananna Sasvata Bhuhakku, Bhuraksha Pathakam’. 1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will celebrate this Christmas festival in his native Pulivendula assembly headquarters town. He will make a long 3-day visit along with family members from December 23 to 25. The CM will leave for Pulivendula on December 23 and he will take part in various developmental activities there the next day. The officials have made arrangements for the CM to lay foundation stone for several developmental works.

AP government turned BCs in backbone classes: CM

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the state government turned backward classes (BCs) into backbone classes, with the empowerment of weaker sections socially, economically and politically.

He said a movement like this was not taken up anywhere else in the country as he spoke at the BC Sankranti Sabha, which saw hundreds of community leaders converge at one place on Thursday.

All the directors and chairpersons of the newly created 56 BC corporations were sworn in on the occasion as Reddy said that Sankranti festival has set in early.

To all the newly sworn in leaders, he advised them that position is not power but responsibility, asking them to strive to uplift those people left out of welfare programmes.

“Setting up 56 BC corporations and appointing 728 BC leaders, from 139 castes in the posts of directors and chairmen is history which was initiated by only AP government,” highlighted Reddy.

Out of the new appointees, the CM noted 29 chairmen and 336 directors were women.

Andhra Pradesh had made laws in implementing 50 per cent reservation for BC, SC, ST and minorities and women in all nominated posts and contracts.

The Chief Minister criticized the earlier Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government for allegedly betraying BCs and breaking their backs.

Tamil Nadu needs CM like Jagan: Puducherry minister

2

The people of Tamil Nadu need a Chief Minister like Jagan Mohan Reddy, said a Puducherry minister on Thursday, appreciating his act of creating 56 backward classes corporations in Andhra Pradesh.

“People of Tamil Nadu need a Chief Minister like CM Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy,” said Malladi Krishna Rao at the venue where 728 BC leaders from 139 castes were sworn in as directors and chairmen.

As a minister from a backward class, Rao said what Reddy had done to AP BC community was historic, giving utmost importance.

Not only exalting the chief minister, the Pondicherry minister even offered to resign his post and work for Reddy.

“CM Jagan has kept up his word to serve the BC community. I’m ready to resign and work for the government as long as you are the Chief Minister,” he offered.

Jagan Govt controls Amaravati Jana Bheri with iron hand

1

The AP police started making state wide arrests of the Amaravati agitators and the Opposition leaders. The arrests were being made to prevent them from taking part in the Jana Bheri public meeting. The meeting is being held today at Rayapudi village in Amaravati area. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is also addressing the meeting, along with Congress AP President S. Sailjanath and the leaders of the Left parties.

The police began house arrests of the TDP leaders from yesterday night itself. Former Ministers Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Nakka Ananda Babu, former MLAs Kuna Ravi Kumar, Nallimilli Ramakrishna Reddy, Bandaru Satyananda Rao and scores of others were placed under arrest.

Guntur SP Visal Gunni said that they had given permission to the Jana Bheri but traffic restrictions were imposed on the roads leading to the venue. The Krishna river Karakatta road would be restricted and entry would be given only for the vehicles of the judges.

The Amaravati JAC leaders warned of serious action if the Government continued to control their agitation with an iron hand. It was unfortunate that the Government gave permission but not allowing the agitators to take part in the public meeting.

TDP questions motive behind Andhra CM’s frequent Delhi visits

0

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president and Andhra Pradesh’s principal opposition leader, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over his frequent visits to Delhi, asking if the CM was visiting the national capital to protect himself from the cases he has been entangled in or for protecting the interests of the state.

“What the Chief Minister has achieved for Andhra Pradesh out of his visits to the national capital for over 10 times? The CM had spoken loudly of bending the necks of the Centre, but now he is prostrating in Delhi for his own selfish interests,” alleged Naidu.

Addressing a video conference with TDP leaders from the Rajamundry parliamentary constituency, he said that Reddy has failed to bring central government funds for the Visakhapatnam railway zone.

He also alleged that the CM could not take forward the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) and the Bangalore-Chennai Industrial Corridor (BCIC).

“The CM did not care about the petroleum complex and also did not try to recover the first year’s revenue deficit from the Centre,” he said.

The former Chief Minister accused the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of using coronavirus vaccination as a guise to postpone the local body elections.

He was referring to YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP erroneously tweeting and later deleting the tweet about the start of Covid vaccination from December 25.

Naidu said a thumping TDP victory in the yet to be scheduled Tirupati parliamentary bypolls would be a fitting reply to all the alleged atrocities of YSRCP.

He called on all the victimised SC, ST and Muslim minorities to unite and defeat the alleged lawless regime. “Each and every section of the society fell victim to YSRCP’s atrocities. YSRCP’s atrocities were first targeted at the TDP and then extended to all sections of people,” claimed the TDP supremo.

Naidu also alleged that there is no end to atrocities, including sand violations under the current government which according to him gave permission for sand mining under the Rajamundry bridge.

“Multiple scams are being committed in each scheme. In the name of free house sites, the ruling party leaders looted public money in the name of land acquisition, ground levelling and house sites distribution,” he said.

Experts tell Jagan: Pesticides caused Eluru sickness

0

The experts teams from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) submitted their findings to AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. They told the Chief Minister that the residues of pesticides present in water and food caused the Eluru mystery sickness.

Now, there was a need for conducting further studies to find out how the pesticides found their way into the drinking water and food eventually to affect the people there. The experts said that the pesticide effect became responsible for the epileptic fits, seizures, dizziness, fatigue, etc among the patients.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy held a meeting with the experts where they discussed the latest findings of studies on the Eluru illness to which over 600 people fell victim in the past four weeks.

The CM asked the AIIMS and the NICT teams to continue their studies and took up special drives to find out how the residues of pesticides mixed with vegetables, water, food items, etc. Special tests should be conducted on drinking water sources, soil, milk and all such sources.

Mr. Jagan Reddy has also ordered for setting up special labs in every district to detect pesticides presence early. All steps should be taken to prevent recurrence of diseases like Elugu sickness.

Andhra CM urges Shah to release Polavaram project funds

0

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday night called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed various issues of importance to the state, including releasing funds for the Polavaram project.

Reddy submitted a memorandum on Polavaram and urged Shah to consider the second revised cost estimate as per 2017-18 index to pass Rs 55,656 crore expenditure and issuing required directives to the Finance and Jal Shakti departments.

He requested the Central government to reimburse the land acquisition, relief and rehabilitation packages as per the Land Acquisition Act 2013.

The Chief Minister informed that the number of families which have to be evacuated have risen considerably in 2017-18, vis-a-vis 2005-06 from 44,574 families to 1.06 lakh families, spiking LA and R&R costs.

He said an amount of Rs 1,779 crore is still pending towards reimbursement of Polavaram works, including December 2018 bills.

“Any delay will further escalate the cost and the national project which is a lifeline should be expedited,” Reddy told Shah.

He reminded the Home Minister that the southern state did not stop welfare schemes even during the difficult Covid times.

Among others, the Chief Minister reiterated that special category status is important to the state.

Reddy met Shah around 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Jagan Govt sensational petition against High Court Judge

0

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has been fighting a long drawn battle against the Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. His Government targetted Chief Justice Maheswari by writing a letter to the Chief Justice of India already. Now, the Jagan regime has directed its ire at AP High Court Judge Justice Rakesh Kumar. It went to such an extent that the Government filed a petition seeking Justice Rakesh Kumar to step down from hearing the case regarding the Mission Build AP.

The YCP Government contended that it would not get justice if Justice Rakesh Kumar continued to hear the case. It was because the judge was prejudiced and he was passing comments against the Government. Justice Rakesh Kumar had gone to the extent of saying that the Constitutional machinery broke down in Andhra Pradesh. If he was allowed to hear the cases on Mission Build AP, there was a chance that he might take a partial stand.

The Government filed its affidavit in this regard and it said that the judiciary should not encroach upon the duties of the legislature or the executive. There was a Supreme Court order saying that a petitioner can ask for stepping down of a judge if he feels that the judge concerned may act partially.

Local polls not possible: Jagan Govt again tells High Court

4

The Jaganmohan Reddy Government in Andhra Pradesh has once again informed the High Court of AP that local body elections could not be held in February. The decision of State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar could not be implemented because of a more programme to be carried out in the same month.

The YCP regime told the court that the Coronavirus vaccination programme would be taken up on a massive scale all over the State in January and February months. The Government filed its additional affidavit in the court, giving all these details. For this vaccination drive, all the police and other departments would be required. Immediately four weeks after the first dose, the second dose would have to be administered.

The Government’s advocate told the court that the vaccination drive was the only reason why it could not take up the local polls in February. For this, the SEC advocate requested the court to give some time to file its counter. The next hearing was posted for the coming Friday.

Apparently, the Jagan regime was giving one twist or another to the issue just to postpone local polls till SEC Ramesh Kumar retires in March.

‘No change in Polavaram project height, water to flow from 2022 kharif’

1

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday said there is no change in the height of Polavaram project and that water from it will be released for Kharif 2022.

“Rehabilitation works will be taken up on a priority basis. Initially, the rehabilitation works with an estimated cost of Rs 3,330 crore will be started in flood prone areas when water storage is at 41.5 metres,” said Reddy, after his third visit to the national project.

Consequently, the storage capacity will be increased in a phased manner to 45.72 metres, he said and directed officials to make preparations accordingly.

The state aims to complete rehabilitation works by February or March 2021.

“Project works should be completed by December 2021 so that any minor pending works can be completed in two or three months and water can be released for Kharif 2022,” said Reddy.

He also directed officials to expedite spillway and spill channel works to complete them by May end 2021 as Godavari river will be flooded from June, which may disrupt work by another season.

“At the same time take steps to fill the gaps in the cofferdam so that the works of the main dam will be done swiftly,” said the CM, directing that hydroelectric project works should also continue.

He condemned the propaganda that project height is being reduced and called it a falsehood.

He asserted that the height of the project at full reservoir level (FRL) would be 45.72 metres, which was also vouched by Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) member secretary Ranga Reddy.

The Chief Minister said it is crucial to complete land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement, along with the construction of the dam.

“We could not store full capacity in Chitravati, Gandikota and Kandaleru projects due to negligence in LA and R & R works,” he said.

He said Chitravati dam’s full capacity of 10 tmc water was stored only after the YSRCP came to power and spent Rs 240 crore for rehabilitation.

Reddy directed officials to make alternative arrangements to avoid drinking and irrigation water shortage to the delta during the closure of cofferdams.

Jagan to seek Shah support for his 3 Capitals plan

2

The Amaravati agitation completed one year even as the farmers, women and youth were swearing to continue their protests till the Jagan Reddy regime withdrew its 3 Capitals plan. The agitators planned rallies and public meetings to mark the anniversary of their protests. Exactly coinciding with this event, AP Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy is undertaking a tour to Delhi.

The ruling party has announced that the Chief Minister got the appointment to meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During this visit, the CM is expected to take up and seek the Central Government’s support for his move to shift the Capital City to Visakhapatnam. The BJP AP leaders have been saying repeatedly that their party has taken a stand that Amaravati should continue as the Capital City of Andhra Pradesh.

Not only that, Parakala Prabhakar, husband of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, has altogether come out with a film expressing his anguish over the ‘destruction’ of Amaravati. The BJP AP leaders have raised their tone against Capital shifting ahead of the Tirupati bypoll.

At such a critical juncture, CM Jagan Reddy is going to meet with Amit Shah. Analysts say that the critical moment has arrived for the AP Chief Minister to secure the positive nod of the Modi-Shah duo for his 3 Capitals plan. The YCP think tank and the MPs were also now making all out efforts to get a grip over the Capital shifting issue before it slips out of control.

Doubtless to say, the CM is now fighting a lonely battle against multiple parties and sections of society on his 3 Capitals move.
