Sharmila finds fault with brother’s decision to rename NTR varsity

1

YSR Telangana Party leader Y.S. Sharmila has found fault with the decision of her brother and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to rename the NTR University of Health Sciences after their late father, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR).

She feels that the move amounts to insulting crores of fans of the late TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.

Sharmila said her father was a great and popular leader and he did not need change of some institution’s name which was already named after some other leader to elevate his status.

“Today this institution has been renamed after YSR. Tomorrow, another government may change the name. Will this not amount to insulting YSR?” she asked.

Sharmila, who is currently conducting padyatra in Vikarabad district, feels that YSR does not need somebody’s fame. “No one enjoys the status which YSR had. When he passed away, 700 people died of shock,” she said.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on September 21 passed a Bill to rename NTR University of Health Sciences as YSR University of Health Sciences.

Ignoring the objections and protests of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government went ahead with the legislation.

The Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2022, was passed unanimously in the absences of TDP members, who were earlier suspended from the House by Speaker Tammineni Seetharam for stalling the proceedings in protest against the state government’s move.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy defended the government’s move to rechristen the university.

He said YSR was not only a physician and politician but was also a great humanitarian who understood hardships of the poor and provided best healthcare facilities to them for free.

Set up in 1986, the Health University was named in 1998 after N.T. Rama Rao, who was popularly known as NTR.

With the passing of the Bill, the university has now been renamed after Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The move triggered angry reaction from the TDP with the party president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu vowing not to rest till the name of NTR is restored for the health university.

Conspiracy behind Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s death, am also a target, alleges daughter

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) founder and President Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday alleged a conspiracy behind the death of her father and (undivided) Andhra Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Sharmila, who is on a Telangana padayatra, also made the sensational claim that plans are afoot to kill her also.

Rajasekhar Reddy had lost his life in a helicopter accident in December 2009, a few months after leading the Congress to its second consecutive victory in the Assembly polls.

Addressing media in Mahbubnagar, Sharmila said:” Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s death is the result of a conspiracy and attempts are being made to kill me too. But KCR, Telangana Chief Minister, should remember that I’m YSR’s daughter and fearless.”

Sharmila, is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. She parted ways with her brother in 2021 and set up the YSRT Party as a political alternative for the people of Telangana. Embarking on a padayatra of the state, she had covered 2000-km on foot a week ago.

Wondering why TRS ministers and MLAs are scared when she raises the corruption issue, Sharmila stated that they are running the state in Taliban-style.

Alleging that Telangana Police are arresting anyone who questions failures of the TRS government, Sharmila said the police department might as well be merged in the ruling TRS party.

YSR Telangana Party celebrates registration by EC

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) led by Y.S. Sharmila on Thursday celebrated as the Election Commission registered it as a political party.

The party cadres participated in the celebrations held at the party office and residence of tge founder Sharmila in posh Jubilee Hills here.

Amid the playing of loud music and drum beats, several workers were seen dancing. There were also fireworks on the occasion.

Earlier, Sharmila cut a cake to celebrate the occasion along with her mother Y.S. Vijayamma, husband Anil Kumar and some key party leaders.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, thanked the Election Commission for recognising the party. She said her party would continue to work in a democratic manner to serve the people.

She tweeted that despite all the odds, the YSRTP will work for the people and will remain amidst people. She vowed the follow the path of her late father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh.

The Election Commission has registered YSR Telangana Party as a political party under the Representation of the People Act.

Meanwhile, Sharmila voiced concern over the continuing suicides of farmers in Telangana and slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for doing nothing to prevent these. The YSRTP leader alleged that seven farmers have committed suicides in the state during the last two days due to debts.

She said KCR was talking of ‘Bangaru (golden) Bharat’ but has no concern for the farmers of Telangana who are ending their lives due to debt and other problems created by the wrong policies of the state government.

Sharmila was referring to the slogan given by Telangana Rashtra Samthi (TRS) chief, who is leading efforts to form a national front against BJP.

Sharmila floated YSRTP on July 8 last year and announced the party will strive to bring ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ in Telangana.

‘Rajanna Rajyam’ is an euphemism for the rule of Rajasekhara Reddy, who launched several pro-poor and welfare schemes when he was the Chief Minister of combined state between 2004 and 2009.

Sharmila was earlier active in YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) floated in 2011 by her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy after resigning from the Congress party.

She admitted political differences with Jagan Mohan Reddy, who opposed her entry into Telangana politics.

Bro. Anil says no relation with YS Sharmila’s party

0

Brother Anil, the husband of YS Sharmila and well-known evangelist, said that he has nothing to do with his wife’s political party. He said he has no relation with the party and that he would not speak on the political party of his wife.

When asked about his wife’s political plans, Bro. Anil, who was in Vijayawada to attend a private function, said that he has no connection with the political activities of his life. He parried questions relating to his wife’s politics and said that he has no interest in politics. He did not say yes or no to any question and avoided reply.

The media asked questions about YS Sharmila’s supposed tiff with sibling YS Jagan. But, Bro. Anil chose not to speak about it . It is being reported that Jagan and Sharmila had an open verbal duel about her political career and sharing of her father’s assets. In the heat of the arguments, she reportedly flew into a rage and said that she would enter into AP politics and work for Jagan’s defeat.

Later, she cryptically told the media that she can set up her party anywhere in the country. There is no rule that prevents me from setting up a political party in AP, she said. Brother Anil, who met mediapersons on Monay too did not give away anything. He merely said that he has no interest in politics.

Will YS Sharmila eat into YSRCP votes in Pulivendula?

0

The political circles in Andhra Pradesh are agog with the buzz about the possible foray of YS Sharmila into AP politics. There are animated debates about the possible impact that Sharmila might have on AP politics. Questions are being raised as to whether her entry would upset the calculation and political fortunes of the ruling YSRCP and its chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Speculations are rife about Sharmila’s entry into AP politics, ever since she made sensational remarks as to whether there was a bar on her from entering AP politics. This is being seen as a direct challenge to YS Jagan. The relations between Sharmila and Jagan have soured and both are on a collision course.

But the question is what? impact she will have on AP politics, especially the ruling YSRCP? She would cut into the votes of the YSRCP only as she cannot get any support from the voters who prefer other parties like the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena. There are fears that with the fast dwindling popularity of YS Jagan and his government, she might eat into Jagan’s support base. But, will YS fans move towards Sharmila instead of YS Jagan? What will be the role of YS Vijayamma? Will she campaign for Sharmila instead of YS Jagan? Will Sharmila’s influence be limited to the Rayalaseema districts alone or will it extend to the whole state?

Similarly, there are also unconfirmed reports that Sharmila might contest against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Pulivendula. If that happens, which way will the voters of Pulivendula go? Will she be able to give a tough fight to YS Jagan? These questions are now being debated in political circles and one has to wait and watch for this story of sibling rivalry to unravel.

YS Sharmila hints at her political entry in AP to weaken Jagan!

0

YS Sharmila, the sister of YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy made sensational comments on her political entry into AP.

As of now Sharmila is confined to Telangana politics and has launched and running her own party in Telangana in the name of YSRTP (YSR Telangana Party).

But speculations are rife in political circles that Sharmila is planning to launch her own party in Andhra Pradesh very soon to take on her brother Jagan’s YSRCP. Rumour mills are abuzz with reports that Sharmila is very angry at Jagan for blocking the growth of her party in Telangana by using his political power and money power as AP CM.

Sharmila wants to retaliate with her own party in AP. Since Jagan is damaging her politically in Telangana, Sharmila wants to damage Jagan politically in AP by launching her own party.

When media personnel questioned Sharmila on her political entry in AP on Monday (today), she replied, “Political party can be launched by anyone and at any time. There is no rule that political party should not be launched?”

Her indirect comments indicate her future plans to make an entry in AP politics, feel political analysts. If this was not so, Sharmila would have dismissed these rumours straightaway when media personnel asked these questions to her and would have put an end to these rumours once and for all. But Sharmila fuelled more speculations on her entry into AP politics with her indirect comments.

Why YS Sharmila should thank Omicron scare?

0

Who is feeling very happy at the rise in Omicron cases in the country? If anyone is the happiest, it should be YSRTP chief YS Sharmila. Her yatra is turning out to be a dud with no response whatsoever from the general public. The media coverage too is dwindling by each passing day. She is finding that the narrative she has taken up is out of sync with the issues on the ground. So, the rise in Omicron cases has turned out to be a great alibi to put her padayatra in the cold storage.

With predictions that the Omicron could reach its peak in February or March, it is unlikely that Sharmila will take up any outreach programmes such as padayatra or rallies. This period will also help her to regroup her cadre and plan something substantial. She is said to be upset with her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who she feels is preventing key people in Telangana from joining her party.

Meanwhile, Omicron scare has also put cold water on the spate of agitational programmes that other Opposition parties had planned in Telangana. The BJP has postponed the second phase of the padayatra due to the Omicron issue. Similarly, the Congress Party’s Rachabanda protest programme too could be deferred.

Even the TRS seems to have been affected by the Omicron spread. The party planned massive agitations on the paddy procurement issues. Similarly, KCR wanted to tour several district headquarters to inaugurate the newly-constructed collectorate complexes in several places. However, the party is waiting for the inauspicious period to end. In all probability, any outreach programme is possible only by February-end or the first week of March.

Sharmila, who says she doesn’t know KTR, tweets in his support

0

Once, she was all her pompous self and imperiously asked who KTR. Today, she is backing the very same KTR and is tweeting in his support. Yes. NO marks for guessing. We are talking about our very own YS Sharmila. The YSRTP chief has once said she does not know who KTR is. She said she does not know any KTR.

But on the issue of body-shaming Himanshu Rao, who is son of Minister KTR, Sharmila has come out openly in support of KTR. While the cause she has taken up is worthy and everyone should support, her supporting KTR is what is raising hackles. How could she say who is KTR and then support the very same KTR?

In fact, BJP’s latest motor-mouth Teenmar Mallanna aka Chintapandu Naveen Kumar has body-shamed KTR’s son HImanshu. He asked a question on Youtube as to what is growing in Telangana these days – the assets of Bhadrachalam temple or Himanshu’s girth. That this is in extremely bad taste is no brainer. Many have criticised Mallanna’s abominable language.

Sharmila tweeted in support of KtR and said that she was against dragging the children into political debates. She also called upn everyone to come together setting aside political differences. Meanwhile, some supporters of KTR and the TRS came to the office of Teenmar Mallanna and attacked him. Even KTR was visibly upset and has tweeted tagging the BJP bigwigs. Sharmila’s support while welcome, raises the question about her earlier comments. Will Sharmila care to clarify?

Growing paddy is farmers’ right: Sharmila

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y.S. Sharmila said on Monday that growing paddy is the right of farmers and that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao can’t dictate to them what crops to cultivate.

As part of her ‘Rythu Avedana Yatra’, she called on families of two farmers and consoled them in Kamareddy district. While one farmer had died of cardiac arrest while waiting at a paddy procurement centre, the other committed suicide as his paddy was allegedly not procured by authorities.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, visited the house of Chinna Beeraiah in Ilapur village in Lingampet mandal and consoled the family The farmer recently died while waiting for his paddy to be procured by authorities at IKP Centre.

The YSRTP leader also visited Yellareddy in Sadashiv Nagar and consoled the family of M. Yadaiah who committed suicide as his paddy was not procured.

She blamed Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government for the deaths of farmers. “It’s shameful that they are killing the farmers and also staging dharnas,” she said referring to the protests organised by the TRS across the state to demand the Centre to lift the entire paddy from the state.

Sharmila also blamed the TRS government for the plight of farmers in the state. Reacting to the appeal by the state government to farmers not to cultivate paddy during the coming Rabi season, she stated that growing paddy is the right of farmers. She asked farmers to cultivate paddy.

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said if necessary, she will go on indefinite fast to force the government to procure paddy. “I will fight for the rights of farmers till my death,” she said.

Sharmila, who consoled the families of two farmers in Medak district on Sunday, alleged that Chandrasekhar Rao is responsible for suicides by scores of farmers.

She said the Chief Minister was confusing farmers by shifting his stance on a regular basis. “Sometime he says he will procure paddy till the last grain and sometimes he asks farmers not to go for paddy cultivation. How many times will he change his stance?” she asked.

Claiming that 200 farmers committed suicide during last 70 days, she demanded Rs 25 lakh ex gratia each to the families of these farmers.

6 months on, Sharmila is already a spent-force

1

She claimed that she would usher in the Rajanna Rajyam in Telangana. But, months into her campaign, YS Sharmila is already reduced to a joke. The people are cracking jokes on her bombastic claims and her loud-mouth comments. There is a general complaint that her political activities are not inspiring any confidence in the people. Social media is trolling her to no end.

It has been six months since she started her party, the YSRTP. But, within six months, the fizz is gone and the pep is missing in the party. The confidence levels too have come down. The crowds that bustled outside the party office have simply vanished. The issues she is seeking to raise are finding a resonance with the people of Telangana at large. There are no joinings in the party these days.

Moreover, she is finding it difficult to answer questions about her inactivity during the Telangana movement. She is being asked as to what she did while the youth of Telangana were spearheading movements. She is not only evasive replies, but is also feeling uncomfortable tackling the media.

YS Sharmila to rebegin yatra from December 17

0

YS Sharmila is all set to re-launch her Praja Prasthanam from December 17. YSR Telangana Party sources say that the yatra, which was temporarily halted due to the election code in Telangana due to the local body MLA elections, is planning to restart her yatra. The election code would be in force till December 14, the day when the results would be declared.

The yatra was given a temporary recess on November 11 in Kondapakagudem village of Narketpalli mandal of Nalgonda district. The Yatra began on October 20 from

Chevella, went on for 21 days and covered 238 km . It has so far touched 150 villages in six Lok Sabha constituencies. YSRTP sources said that the yatra would re-begin from the ame village.

Analysts say that the YSRTP has found that the response to the yatra was gradually dwindling and crowds had to be mobilised to ensure that yatra had decent gatherings. There were several instances where the crowds agitated over non-payment of their daily wages. This led to ugly situation and the party was waiting for an opportunity to give a temporary halt.

Party’s padayatra coordinator Chandrahasan Reddy said that YS Sharmila would launch a massive people’s movement on the issue of paddy procurement. He said that the party would wage a relentless battle on the issue and would not rest till the last grain of paddy was procured by the government.

Sharmila begins protest to show solidarity with Telangana farmers

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y. S. Sharmila on Saturday began a protest in Hyderabad to show solidarity with the state’s farmers over the paddy procurement issue.

Demanding that the state government procure the entire paddy, she sat on the protest at Indira Park in the heart of the city.

Interestingly, leaders of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had staged the protest at the same venue on Friday, demanding the Centre to lift paddy from the state.

She has announced a 72-hour protest. However, the police permitted protest at Indira Park from morning to evening. YSRTP leaders said she would continue the protest for the remaining hours at her party office-cum-residence at Lotus Pond.

Sharmila, who is Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister, said that it is the responsibility of the TRS government to procure the entire produce of farmers.

Criticising Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not coming to the rescue of farmers, she demanded that the government expedite the procurement during the ongoing season.

On the state government advising farmers not to grow paddy and go for alternate crops, Sharmila said the government should give them the guarantee that it will supply the required seeds and fertilisers and procure the entire produce.

She alleged that 36 lakh farmers in the state were not benefited from farm loan waiver announced by the Telangana government.

The YSRTP leader stopped her ongoing Praja Prasthanam Padyatra temporarily from Wednesday in view of the election code of conduct for elections to the Legislative Council.

She had launched the walkathon last month to expose the failures of the state government on various fronts and to interact with people about their problems.

Telangana police say no to Sharmila, give permission to TRS!

1

YSRTP president YS Sharmila got a shocker from Telangana police on Thursday (today).

Sharmila who was forced to halt her ongoing padayatra in Telangana on Wednesday applied for police permission to hold 72-hour dharna at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad demanding the Centre and state governments to procure paddy from farmers in kharif and rabi seasons without imposing any restrictions on procurement.

However, the police denied permission to Sharmila to hold dharna at Indira Park.

But the police permitted the ruling TRS to hold dharna at Indira Park on Friday. The TRS has decided to hold dharna on Friday in all Assembly constituencies across Telangana demanding the Centre to procure paddy from Telangana.

YSRCP and TRS applied for police permission to hold dharna on the same issue and at the same venue.

But the police permitted TRS to hold dharna while denying the same to Sharmila.

Sharmila has now decided to hold dharna in Kamareddy on paddy procurement issue.

Sharmila criticised Telangana police for discrimination in giving permission to YSRTP for holding dharna at Indira Park.

Sharmila’s padayatra comes to a halt!

0

The ongoing padayatra in Telangana being conducted by YSRTP president YS Sharmila came to a halt on Wednesday (today).

Sharmila was forced to halt her padayatra following the election code of conduct coming into force in Telangana with the issuance of notification by Election Commission of India to conduct MLC polls for 12 seats under local bodies quota.

Sharmila started her padayatra ‘Praja Prasthanam’ on October 20 from Chevella constituency in Ranga Reddy district.

The padayatra was supposed to go on for 400 days covering 4,000 kilometres.

However, Sharmila was forced to halt the yatra after 20 days.

Sharmila said she will resume her yatra after MLC polls in December.

Sharmila is now planning to hold 72-hour deeksha at Indira Park in Hyderabad in support of farmers demanding the government to procure paddy from farmers in both kharif and rabi seasons as usual for MSP (minimum support price).

What’s behind YS Sharmila’s secret visits to Old City?

0

If you thought that YS Sharmila is only busy with her padayatras and deekhsas, then think again. Sharmila, who cut her teeth in politics under her father YS Rajasekhar Reddy and brother YS Jagan’s tutelage, is implementing a clear-cup plan to woo the Muslims. He is trying to bring the Muslims closer to her party and is trying to revive the bonds that her father had with the MIM and other Muslim groups in Telangana.

According to sources, she has already covered several parts of the Old City of Hyderabad and met several leaders. She has reportedly met MIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi and sought his help in her yatra. Interestingly, ever since she launched the party, several Muslim youth are seen visiting the party headquarters in the Lotus Pond. She is said to have discussed on how he would extend his support to her.

In another development, she has also met the leaders of the Tabligh Jamaat. She held discussions with the leaders of the Tabligh and sought their support for her yatra. She also met influential Muslim religious leader Maulana Ghiyasuddin and his followers. The Maulana has great influence on the politics of the Old City region.

Highly placed sources also tell us that she is in touch with the Muslim leaders from across Telanganan. The Muslims have a soft corner for YSR because of the 4 per cent reservations he had implemented during his reign. However, the political situation in Telangana has changed significantly. So, Sharmila is said to be reworking arrangements with the community and its leaders.

Poor turnout at the launh fails to unnerve YS Sharmila

1

Politics is an extremely tough game and YSRTP chief YS Sharmila is earning this dictum very fast. The launch of her yatra from Chevella was a shocker for her. She wanted the launch to be a glittering affair with a huge turnout of people. She told her party workers to mobilise the crowds in big numbers.

But on the day of the launch of the yatra, the total attendance was around five thousand people. This was a huge disappointment for YS Sharmila. Seeing disappointment writ all over her face, the party leaders had to make contingency arrangements and rush in an additional crowd. They had to go to the points where daily wagers congregate and bring them in.

As a result, the yatra started behind schedule. The leaders waited for the hired crowd to be brought in and then launched the yatra. However, to the credit of Sharmila, she recovered her composure soon. She went through the rigours. Her mother YS Vijayamma was there to pat her on the back and bless her yatra.

Sharmila is said to have told the party workers not to get disappointed by the low turnout. She told them to learn from the mistake committed in the launch programme and ensure that the mistakes were not repeated. Sharmila’s yatra will go on for 400 days and will cover 4000 km. It will begin and end at Chevella, which her father late YSR considered auspicious for him.

Why Sharmila is targeting Revanth more than TRS?

0

YSRTP chief YS Sharmila launched a marathon 4,000 kilometre long ‘padayatra’ in Telangana on Wednesday (today) with an aim to bring back “Rajanna Rajyam” in Telangana.

She launched her padayatra from Chevella in Rangareddy district in line with the ‘Chevella sentiment’ followed by her father YSR, who also launched padayatra in 2002 and become CM of Undivided AP in 2004.

Sharmila addressed a huge gathering at Chevella on the occasion. However, her speech created a buzz in political circles as she targeted TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy more than ruling TRS.

She termed Revanth as a ‘thief’ who was caught ‘red handed’ in ‘cash for vote’ scam. She said Revanth’s political life is in the hands of KCR and KCR can finish Revanth politically anytime he wants.

Sharmila also termed Revanth as a ‘rented TPCC chief’ of Congress who was rented out by TDP to Congress.

Why Sharmila targeted Revanth who is neither in the ruling party nor holding any position in the Telangana government? is the question being debated in political circles.

Speculations are rife that Sharmila is very angry at Revanth as he dashed all her plans to get disgruntled Reddy leaders and YSR supporters in Telangana Congress into her party YSRTP.

Sharmila expected many Reddy Congress leaders would join YSRTP on ‘caste equations’ as Telangana Congress was in coma when she launched YSRTP.

Exactly at the same time, Revanth became TPCC chief and brought new energy to Congress. With this, several Reddy Congress leaders or other leaders from other castes in Congress, who had plans to quit the sinking Congress in Telangana, dropped their plans believing in Revanth’s leadership and charisma.

With this, Sharmila could not get even a single noted leader from Telangana Congress into YSRCP. Even the only noted Telangana Congress woman leader Indira Shobhan who joined YSRTP from Congress also quit YSRTP after Revanth became TPCC chief.

All these made Sharmila develop severe anger against Revanth which came out when she launched padayatra.

Revanth is also taking YSRTP very lightly and frequently terming Sharmila’s party as an “NGO organisation” and not a political party whenever media persons are raising questions in Revanth Reddy’s press meets on Sharmila.

Revanth is saying that he will respond only on political parties and not NGOs like YSRTP. This is also cited as the reason for Sharmila’s anger on Revanth.

Evangelist’s wife Sharmila to walk her way to Chilkuru temple

1

Politics make politicians do strange things. And YSRTP chief YS Sharmila is no exception. YS Shamila, who is known to have been quite active in Christian evangelization activities along with her husband Bro Anil Kumar, is making a padayatra on Sunday to – hold your breath – to Chilkuru Balaji temple. A host of YSRTP leaders too will accompany her. This is being seen as a preparatory for her Padayatra across Telangana.

The Padayatra, which was to start from October 18, is now deferred to October 20. Like her father YSR, Sharmila too will begin the padayatra from Chevella. In fact, she herself undertook a 3112-km padayatra in 2012 for her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from Chevella. This time around, she wants to break her own record and trek for a longer distance. She would hold a preparatory meeting for the yatra on October 18 with senior party functionaries and advisors.

As part of the yatra, Sharmila will unfurl the party flag at every village that visits. Also, the party workers would install the statue of the late YSR in all important centres. Sources said that Sharmila has appointed a special coordinator for the purpose. At all places, awareness meetings would be held to popularize the party and its core ideology.

The Yatra is coming at a time, when several key party leaders have left the party and Sharmila’s Tuesday protest fasts over the issue of unemployment in Telangana are evoking lukewarm responses. The party recruitment too has dwindled after an initial flush. Sharmila and her supporters hope that the yatra would boost their fortunes in Telangana state.

Sharmila discusses YSRTP strategy with team PK

1

In a politically significant development, the Prashant Kishor team on Wednesday called on YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y.S. Sharmila.

The team met Sharmila at her Lotus Pond residence here and they are believed to have discussed the strategy to strengthen and expand the party.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is understood to have discussed with the team the plans for her upcoming ‘padyatra’, route map and future course of action.

The meeting set off speculations that political strategist Prashant Kishor has joined hands with Sharmila to prepare its strategy.

Prashant Kishor and his team had planned and executed the election strategy of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, and it had stormed to power by winning 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly.

Sharmila, who floated the YSRTP in July, recently announced that she will undertake the ‘padyatra’ from October 20.

YSRTP leaders have also announced that the party will organise a public meeting for self-respect of backward classes at Kosagi in Kodangal constituency on October 3.

Sharmila’s meeting with the PK team also assumes significance in view of the next month’s bye-election to Huzurabad Assembly constituency. It came a day after the Election Commission announced the election schedule.

In order to highlight the issue of unemployment, the YSRTP has decided to field unemployed individuals in October 30 bye-elections. The party has constituted a committee to file several nominations on behalf of unemployed.

Sharmila’s interview to RK promises to be explosive

0

The talk of the town these days is the Open Heart with RK that AP CM YS Jagan’s sister Sharmila did with ABN Andhra Jyothi’s CMD Radhakrishna. It has become the talk of the town because the YS family has always considered Andhra Jyothi and Radhakrishna as its arch enemy. Time and again, both Jagan and YSR have castigated the media house. YS Sharmila agreeing to give an interview itself is a coup of sorts. What she will speak during the interview is a matter of great interest.

If the teaser of the programme is any indication, the questions are pointed and tough and Sharmila appears to have made her mind to speak against YS Jagan. From the trailer, it is clear that Sharmila has said that she is YSR’s daughter and not Jagan’s arrow. The questions also pertain to her differences with YS Jagan. It is also clear that Radhakrishna will not let go of an opportunity to put Jagan on the mat.

It is also clear from the tone and tenor of the teaser that much effort has gone from both Sharmila’s side and RK’s side to make the interview an explosive one. In the teaser, Radhakrishna is heard commenting that Sharmila has learnt the ways of politics quite effortlessly.

She had also made several comments about the YSRTP becoming an alternative to TRS. Sharmila is heard saying that KCR has Revanth’s jugular and that he can decimate him politically whenever he chooses. These and other comments have made the interview very explosive. The interview will be broadcast on Sunday night.
