Sharmila dares KCR to walk for a day with her

0

YSR Telangana Party president Y. S. Sharmila on Thursday dared Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to walk along with her for just three kilometres to know the plight of people in the state.

She threw this challenge at KCR before embarking on the last leg of her Praja Prasthanam padayatra.

Addressing a news conference in Hyderabad, Sharmila said that KCR has failed to fulfill any of the promises he made to the people of the state.

“For the past nine years, there is no section in the state that has not suffered from this autocratic and inefficient rule. From farmers’ plight to the youth’s distress, women’s issues to education, KCR has failed to keep every promise he made,” she said.

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that when she tried to expose his failures and corruption, her padayatra was ruthlessly attacked.

“Today, I challenge the chief minister to walk with us for a full day and if you show us that every person in the state is happy and has no problems for you to solve, then I will withdraw from politics. I’m gifting this brand new pair of shoes to walk. This is as per your size and there is a bill to exchange in case it doesn’t fit.”

After a break of two months, Sharmila is set to resume her padyatra in Warangal district where it was stopped by the state government.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28. Later, police arrested Sharmila as she refused to call off the padyatra in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila was later shifted to Hyderabad. The next day, she was arrested again amid high drama while leading a protest march towards the chief minister’s official residence. She was driving a car damaged in the attack and wanted to stage a protest in front of the chief minister’s residence. The police, however, stopped her en route. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The padyatra, however, could not resume as the police had not given the permission.

The YSRTP approached Telangana High Court, which asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

Sharmila to resume padyatra in Telangana on Jan 28

0

After a break of two months, YSR Telangana Party president Y.S. Sharmila will resume her Praja Prasthanam Padyatra on January 28.

Announcing that she would resume the padyatra from the place where it was stopped by the state government last month, she vowed to continue her fight against “KCR rule”. She came down heavily on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly called KCR, for what she called failing the state on every parameter and every front.

Sharmila said KCR was shockingly setting for national politics, while failing Telangana’s aspirations and keeping people in deep distress, for the last nine years.

“It has been only the YSRTP that steadfastly and unconditionally took on KCR and his corrupt and tyrannical government. We never bowed down even when they tried hard to corner us, abusing power and authority. With honesty in our intentions and affection for Telangana, and above all, recalling the people-friendly reign of YSR, we travelled across Telangana and covered 3,500 km, only to be troubled and threatened by KCR, who was now scared of our growing prominence and the manner in which we exposed their local MLAs and MPs,” said Sharmila, daughter of former (undivided) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

“We will continue to battle his inefficient rule marked by failed promises, as we did with Kaleshwaram or Palamuru or unemployment or other issues. The countdown for the end of this corrupt regime has begun,” she said.

On the occasion, she mocked the BRS for their “failed” Khammam show and their dramatics to expand across the country, while failing in the state. “My entry to Paleru has rocked his morale and now he realised that the YSRTP is growing in its popularity and presence in the entire district along with contiguous parts of Nalgonda.”

Sharmila also ruled out early elections to the Telangana Assembly, as she claimed KCR was not ready to take on the anti-incumbency and abandon the much-needed stature as a CM to travel across the country.

She also lashed out at state Congress chief Revanth Reddy and state BJP President Bandi Sanjay for their inefficiency to “effectively expose KCR and his corruption”.

BRS workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28.

The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The padyatra, however, could not resume as the police had not given the permission.

The YSRTP approached Telangana High Court, which asked asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

Sharmila attacks KCR for choosing Khammam as venue for BRS meeting

1

YSR Telangana Party chief Y.S. Sharmila on Tuesday launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his BRS, for choosing the much-neglected Khammam district for the party’s national-level meeting.

In a letter to KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly called, she listed out what she called his false promises, lies and other failures affecting the united Khammam district.

Sharmila said that KCR did not have any moral ground to choose the district as the venue.

“It is very clear that, having failed Khammam on every front in last nine years, KCR suddenly woke up to project yet another dishonest impression that he cares for and respects the district. But the people of Telangana are very well aware of this perpetual peddling of lies by him. He has to ask himself if he has the moral right to sound his BRS war cry from a district that bore the brunt of his stepmotherly attention,” she said.

Sharmila stated that Khammam was famed for its political and cultural consciousness and this was the reason why erstwhile TRS received a royal drubbing in the previous elections there.

“It is your utter disregard that pushed Khammam into more despair and regression. The result – incomplete irrigation projects, apathy towards spiritual and religious abodes, and uncanny recklessness in dealing with floods, the list is long enough to kill the potential of the united district,” she added.

She presented a list of 10 prominent instances of KCR’s failures towards the district. “On behalf of the people of Khammam, we, the YSR Telangana Party demand that you address these concerns before you begin your march towards the meeting,” she demanded.

She wanted to know why KCR didn’t wage a prolonged war against the merger of seven mandals with Andhra Pradesh. “Why doesn’t your government take up seriously the issue of the five villages near Bhadrachalam that are desperate to get merged back into Telangana for administrative convenience,” she asked.

The YSRTP leader sought to know why even after seven years and lots of announcements and hype, the Sitarama Project not yet completed.

“Way back in April 2016, KCR announced that Bhadrachalam temple would be developed with Rs 100 crores. Seven years and why is the sacred abode neglected,” she asked.

“Why were there no repairs to sluices and why was there such a terrible and inhuman apathy towards flood relief and compensation, last year that saw deadly floods wreak havoc in the district?”

She also asked about Rs 1,000 crore promised for Bhadrachalam protection.

Sharmila to resume padyatra after Sankranti

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y.S. Sharmila on Wednesday announced that she will resume her Praja Prasthanam Yatra after Sankranti.

A day after the Telangana High Court allowed her to resume the yatra, she told media persons that she will launch the second phase of her walkathon next month as doctors have advised her to rest for three weeks.

The padyatra was stopped abruptly on November 28 after an alleged attack by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers in Warangal district.

The court, however, asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

She claimed that her 3,500 km long padayatra was accomplished but Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao tried to create problems.

“His goons attacked me and my activists and created law and order issues, but I was arrested in turn. My hunger strike was interrupted and they enforced curfew in the vicinity. They didn’t even let me go to the court. When asked they pass the buck on to their higher officials,” she said.

She announced that her YSRTP would be filing a case against the police in the court. Sharmila alleged that “the draconian government is shooting on the shoulders of the cops”.

Slamming KCR, she said that he has no moral right to speak about Telangana. “KCR is full of deception, backstabbing and only uses the sentiment and emotions of the people for his political whims and fancies,” she said.

Sharmila alleged that KCR ditched the parties he tied up with and stoked the Telangana sentiment only because he was denied a ministerial berth.

She also attacked KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha and termed her a glorious personification of corruption. In the name of Bathukamma, she has ditched the trust of Telangana people and has brought disgrace, having been named in the liquor scam, Sharmila said.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to her over phone. She, however, said the call was personal.

The PM telephoned her on December 6 to enquire about the incidents that took place at Warangal and Hyderabad.

BRS workers had allegedly set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles in Warangal district on November 28.

The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

Telangana High Court allows Sharmila to resume padyatra

0

The Telangana High Court on Tuesday permitted YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila to resume her Praja Prasthanam Padyatra, which was stopped on November 28 after an alleged attack by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) workers in Warangal district.

The court, however, asked Sharmila to abide by the conditions imposed earlier while allowing her to resume the walkathon.

Hearing a lunch motion moved by Sharmila over denial of permission by the police, the court found fault with the action by the police authorities.

It sought to know from the government why permission was not granted after it had allowed resumption of the padyatra. It remarked that the political leaders were running around the courts for permission for padyatras.

The government counsel submitted to the court that Sharmila had made some objectionable comments after meeting the Governor at the Raj Bhavan. She had alleged that the state had been turned into Afghanistan.

The court observed that it is not appropriate to make such comments about the state. It, however, suspended the order issued by Warangal Police Commissioner and allowed Sharmila to resume padyatra.

BRS workers had allegedly attacked Sharmila’s padyatra at Narsampet in Warangal district on November 28.

Protesting against some remarks made by Sharmila against the local MLA of TRS, the protestors had set afire her bus and pelted stones on other vehicles. Later, police arrested Sharmila as she refused to call off the padyatra in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was later shifted to Hyderabad. The next day, she was arrested again amid high drama while leading a protest march towards the Chief Minister’s official residence. She was driving a car damaged in the attack and wanted to stage a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence. The police, however, stopped her enroute. When she refused to come out of the car, the police towed it away to a police station.

The same day the High Court had allowed Sharmila to resume padyatra but laid down certain conditions.

However, when she tried to resume the yatra from the same place a few days later, the police denied permission citing violation of the conditions laid down while granting permission earlier.

As a mark of protest against the denial of police permission, the YSRTP leader sat on indefinite fast on December 9 at Ambedkar statue in the heart of the city. The police detained and shifted her to her residence at Lotus Pond. She, however, continued the fast.

As her condition started deteriorating, the police forcibly shifted her to a hospital in the early hours of December 11.

Sharmila, who was discharged from hospital on Monday, was prevented from leaving the house by the police on Tuesday when she was going to High Court.

Did Modi really enquire about the attack on Sharmila?

1

A section of the media in the Telugu states has been coming up with reports of Prime Minister Narendra Modi enquiring about the attack on YSR Telangana Congress president Y S Sharmila. The reports suggest that Modi had enquired about it with Sharimila’s brother and AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, when the two leaders met in Delhi.

It is also said that Modi had also personally made a phone call to Sharmila and enquired about the attack on her vehicle and the subsequent police action against her in Hyderabad. The police have lifted her vehicle using a crane when she was sitting inside the vehicle.

The reports say that the Prime Minister had expressed deep anguish over the behaviour of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi leadership and the Telangana police towards a woman leader. He is said to have condemned the incidents during his telephonic conversation with Sharmila.

However, there was no official confirmation about these developments either from the Prime Minister’s Office in Delhi or the YSRTP office in Hyderabad. Even Sharmila did not speak about the Prime Minister making a call to her.

But the media in the Telugu states and the social media too are speaking about this development. A section of the media even went on to say that Jagan Mohan Reddy was speechless when the Prime Minister questioned him about his silence to the ill-treatment meted out to his sister in the neighbouring state.

There is no rift between Jagan Mohan Reddy and K Chandrasekhar Rao, though the two states were fighting on sharing of interstate river water and bifurcation of institutions listed in Schedule IX and X of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014.

KCR is not happy with Sharmila for launching a regional outfit and criticising his leadership and the government. KCR’s son KTR and daughter Kavitha are also equally criticising Sharmial and the attack on her vehicle during her padayatra is said to be the reaction of the ruling TRS against her criticism.

Sharmila compares TRS with Taliban

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Thursday compared Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with Taliban.

She said that those working in TRS are like Taliban.

She was talking to reporters after calling on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan here.

Sharmila was arrested by police on Tuesday when she was proceeding to Chief Minister’s official residence in a car damaged in the attack on her convoy by the TRS men in Warangal district the previous day.

The police towed away the car with Sharmila in it to a police station.

The Governor had also expressed her anguish over the manner in which Sharmila was arrested.

While thanking the governor, Sharmila urged the Governor to intervene and seek a report from the Home Ministry, and the office of the DGP.

In the representation submitted to the governor, she alleged that the TRS government has been ‘trampling the hands that are raised in protest, and strangling the voices that scream in hopelessness’.

“In this instance where they went amok against us, it was a clear case of subversion and state-sponsored intrusion into the Padayatra that was going on peacefully,” Sharmila said about the attack on her convoy in Warangal district.

“Our bus was almost gutted and we luckily escaped from being burnt alive. Our party activists were beaten barbarically and the cops did not even accept our complaint, later.

The cops stood mum while this dastardly act went uncontrolled. Shockingly, they detained and arrested me and brought me to Hyderabad, but the attackers were let off, she said.

The sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that when the next day she was proceeding to the chief minister’s residence to show the bus to him, she was stopped and in a barbaric fashion ‘my car was lifted in a crane as I was still sitting inside’.

“During my year-long padayatra, I have been regularly targeted with sexist and derogatory remarks by none other than senior TRS ministers. This reflects the state of affairs in Telangana, under the TRS rule,” she said.

Sharmila told the Governor that she now sees a possible threat to the lives of committed party workers, and continued attacks on her padayatra.

Later, she told reporters that thousands of crores wee being siphoned off in the name of contracts in Telangana.

Sharmila alleged that KCR family is the richest in India. She said Kavitha is involved in Delhi liquor scam. Raids on houses of Kavitha and KTR will yield hundreds of crores, she said.

She slammed TRS for calling her Andhraite. She reminded them that wife of Minister KTR is also from Andhra.

“When you respect his wife, you should also respect me,” she said.

Sharmila recalled that she was born and brought up in Telangana.

“I studied here and married here. My past is here and my future is here,” she added.

Telangana: Kavitha, Sharmila trade barbs on Twitter

0

YSR Telangana Rashtra Samithi (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) legislator K. Kavitha were locked in a war of words over Twitter a day after the former’s arrest in Hyderabad amid high drama.

Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, described Sharmila as a ‘covert’ of BJP. Using rhyming words in Telugu, the member of Telangana Legislative Council launched a counter attack on the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Terming Sharmila an ‘arrow’ of the BJP, the TRS leader alleged that YSRTP president and BJP leaders were working hand-in-glove.

Sharmila hit back at Kavitha in her own style. She remarked that the TRS leader is neither undertaking padyatra nor addressing people’s problems.

She also alleged that promises have not been kept. Sharmila also taunted that Kavitha has no place in ‘pink’ (colour of TRS) garden where there are only positions but no work.

Kavitha responded with a poem addressing Sharmila as an arrow of ‘lotus’ (symbol of BJP). She called YSRTP leader ‘lotus covert’ and ‘orange parrot’.

Stating that she is not a political tourist like her, the TRS leader reminded her that she emerged from the Telangana movement.

The war of words between the two began after Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and several BJP leaders condemned the TRS government for the manner in which Sharmila was arrested in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The Governor expressed anguish at the way Sharmila was arrested and expressed concern about her safety and health condition.

“The visuals of towing away her car, when she was inside the car, were disturbing,” she tweeted.

Following the Governor’s tweet and statements by BJP leaders in Sharmila’s defence, several TRS leaders said this proves that she is BJP’s arrow.

Sharmila was arrested amid high drama on Raj Bhavan Road on Tuesday when she was marching to the chief minister’s residence to stage a protest against attack on her padyatra in Warangal district by the supporters of ruling TRS the previous day.

Sharmila, who was driving a car damaged in the attack by TRS men, refused to get down. The police then called a towing vehicle, which towed the car away with Sharmila still sitting inside it.

YSRTP leader Sharmila gets bail hours after dramatic arrest

0

A city court on Tuesday granted bail to YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila, hours after she was arrested by the police amid high drama while on her way to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Raos official residence in a vehicle damaged in an attack by TRS men in Warangal district the previous day.

The police on Tuesday night produced her and six others before a magistrate, who granted them bail on personal bond.

While the police sought remand of Sharmila, her lawyer argued that the police registered false cases against her though she wanted to stage a peaceful protest along with her supporters. After hearing both sides, the magistrate granted bail to YSRTP leader and others.

This capped the day-long dramatic developments that began with Sharmila along with her supporters heading to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s residence to stage a protest against the attack on her convoy by the ruling party cadres during her ‘Praja Prasthanam’ padayatra.

Dramatic scenes were witnessed on Raj Bhavan road when the police stopped the rally taken out by YSRTP with damaged bus and car. Sharmila, who was driving the damaged car, refused to get down from the vehicle. The police then towed away the car with Sharmila still sitting inside.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was taken to SR Nagar Police Station. There was more drama as she refused to come out of the car. The police personnel forcibly opened the door and lifted her into the police station. The police used force to disperse a group of YSRTP men who had gathered there to protest her arrest.

Sharmila’s mother Vijayamma was placed under house arrest when she was leaving for police station to meet her daughter. Vijayamma then sat on the protest at her Lotus Pond residence.

Sharmila’s husband, Anil Kumar, reached the police station and condemned the ‘highhanded’ behaviour of the police. He said a woman leader raising people’s issues has been arrested and booked under non-bailable sections.

Sharmila and six others were booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 290 (public nuisance), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insulting modesty of woman), 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and, 382 (Theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft)

The FIR was registered at Panjagutta police station on a complaint by K. Akhila, a woman sub-inspector.

The other accused were Induja Reddy, Sudha Rani, Md Musharf, Basha, Sanjeev Kumar, Kodem Srinu and others.

Sharmila detained on way to T’gana CM’s residence for protest

0

Police detained YSRTP leader Y.S. Sharmila here on Tuesday as she was heading towards Chief Minister’s official residence in a car damaged in the alleged attack by the TRS supporters in Warangal district on Monday.

The YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader herself was driving the car and proceeding towards Pragathi Bhavan as a mark of protest against the attack by ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

When Sharmila along with her supporters reached near the Yashoda Hospital on Raj Bhavan Road, the police stopped them.

The YSRTP workers raised slogans against the ruling party. As they tried to proceed towards the chief minister’s residence, police detained them.

As Sharmila refused to get down from the car, the police toed away the vehicle with Sharmila sitting inside it.

She was shifted to the S.R. Nagar Police Station.

The protest march by YSRTP also included the Yatra bus that was stoned and burnt by the TRS activists on Monday.

Sharmila’s Yatra bus and other vehicles were attacked at Narasmpet in Warangal district when she was visiting the area as part of her Praja Prasthanam Yatra.

The YSRTP alleged that TRS men went on a rampage indiscriminately attacking the padayatra, stoning and burning the bus, unleashing filthy language and tearing down banners and party flags.

The police later arrested Sharmila on the ground that she was continuing the foot march despite their advice to call it off in view of the tense situation in the area.

Sharmila, who is the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was brought to Hyderabad.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Monday night, she made it clear that her yatra and the fight against the TRS atrocities would not stop.

Sharmila added that she would not be cowed down by the ‘rowdies and rogues of TRS’ and would march for the sake of four crore Telangana people who stood by her.

In continuation of her protest, she began her march towards the Pragati Bhavan to “seek an explanation from KCR” and “know if this is part of his governance that those who questioned his government’s failures and tyranny had to be attacked and harmed”.

Some party leaders, who also staged a protest at the party’s office in Jubilee Hills, were also arrested by the police.

Sharmila’s arrest, attack on convoy trigger tension

1

Attack on YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y. S. Sharmila’s convoy allegedly by the supporters of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and her subsequent arrest by the police triggered tension during her padyatra in Warangal district on Monday.

Police stopped Sharmila’s padyatra and arrested her and YSRTP leaders and workers accompanying her in Chennaraopeta mandal.

YSRTP cadres tried to resist the arrests and raised slogans against the police and the TRS government. The police used mild force to control the situation.

Sharmila, sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was arrested after she allegedly made certain objectionable comments about TRS MLA P. Sudershan Reddy.

Sharmila wanted to know from police why were they taking her into custody instead of arresting those who attacked her bus.

YSRTP alleged that the bus which Sharmila is using to rest during her ongoing Praja Prasthanam padayatra was attacked and burnt down by the members of the ruling TRS party.

The mob also damaged cars belonging to YSR Telangana Party leaders. The incident happened near Lingagiri village, under Chennaraopeta mandal in Warangal district.

Sharmila was participating in the padyatra on 223rd day when a group of men chanting pro-TRS slogans and hailing KCR, reached the place where the caravan was halted and torched it.

“For the past 223 days, me and my Party leaders and representatives are holding a peaceful Padayatra to highlight the plight of various sections of people in Telangana. Our rising popularity has jolted Chief Minister KCR and his party men, who want to stop me at any cost,” she said.

Daughter of former chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that it is highly unfortunate that some police officers are siding with the ruling party and disrupting ‘our efforts to reach the people and raise their issues.’

The Praja Prasthanam padayatra has so far crossed 3,500 kms mark, covering 75 Assembly segments in the State. She has covered 1863 villages under 208 mandals and 61 Municipalities along with 4 Municipal Corporations, so far.

Sharmila writes to PM on corruption in Kaleshwaram project

0

YSR Telangana Party leader Y. S. Sharmila has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate investigation and action against the massive corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

On the eve of Modi’s visit to Ramagundam to inaugurate fertilizer plant, YSRTP has launched a poster campaign to bring the issue to his notice. The posters have come up across Ramagundam, Godavarikhani, and in the surrounding villages.

During her ongoing padyatra, Sharmila released the poster and wrote to PM Modi.

“On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit to Telangana, YSR Telangana Party has written to him seeking immediate investigation into what is supposed to be the biggest irrigation-related scam in the country, the Kaleshwaram Project scam. I have put forward a strong plea, requesting him to act on this issue in the larger interest of the farmers of Telangana,” she said.

Sharmila expressed disappointment that though her party has been fighting hard against KCR and his contractor’s gains in the project, massive irregularities, falsification and inflation and embezzlement, besides compromising on standards and quality that led to a massive damage, Ano action has been taken till date. “We have lodged complaints with CBI and CAG, supported by strong evidence and documents that establish corruption. Even, the central ministers, whenever they visit Telangana, point to the corruption in the project, but have never initiated any action, till date, which is nothing but lip service. It is my request to the Prime Minister to not just stop with allegations, like his cabinet colleagues, but act in the interest of the Telangana population, and the farmers in particular,” added Sharmila.

The YSRTP leader alleged that the framers of the drought-ridden and parched lands of Telangana have been backstabbed by KCR where the project cost was increased to 1.20 lakh crores, from Rs 40000 crore, while no extra acreage was shown. “This has robbed the state exchequer and farmers are at an irrevocable loss. We hope the Government of India initiates investigation after taking note of these shocking facts, that truly make this a national scam. We should not forget that close to one lakh crores of rupees have been dispersed by Central PSUs and funding agencies.”

Sharmila slams KCR for withdrawing general consent to CBI

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila has slammed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for withdrawing the general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate cases in the state.

She alleged that KCR — as the Chief Minister is popularly known — who stands for corruption and misrule, has resorted to this stand through a secret government order (GO) as he is scared of the CBI.

Sharmila took to Twitter to mount an attack on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government for withdrawing the general consent to the CBI. She alleged that the KCR-led gang, ‘which looted lakhs of crores’, is afraid of the central probe agency.

She also asked KCR why he was blocking CBI investigation if he had done no wrong.

The YSRTP leader wondered why the TRS government barred the CBI from investigating cases in the state after raising a hue and cry over the alleged attempt by the BJP to buy its four MLAs.

Meanwhile, Sharmila continued her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra for 194th day in Telangana, covering the Korutla constituency in Jagtial district where she interacted with various sections of people to know their problems.

Earlier, she had launched a scathing attack on TRS government’s failure in reviving the Nizam Sugar Factory in Muthyampet, demanding that the factory be immediately re-opened. She recalled that during the Telangana movement, KCR had promised to get the factory opened within 100 days.

Sharmila said that several hundred days have passed, but there is no trace of KCR. She also said that local MLA Vidyasagar Rao had threatened to kill himself in front of the factory gate and even the BJP MLA had assured to get the factory revived, but all these proved to be false promises.

“Earlier, sugarcane was grown over an area of 1.20 lakh acres, which has sadly shrunk to just 10,000 acres today. Three factories were closed after then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu forced 100 per cent privatisation,” she said.

“It was only during the late YSR’s government that an honest and committed initiative was taken in the larger interest of the farmers. A committee was formed in 2006 that confirmed that it was indeed a scam. If only YSR was alive, the factory would have been revived, given his selfless vision for farming and the working fraternity,” added Sharmila, who is the daughter of late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was popular as YSR.

The YSRTP leader said that while KCR has a fancy for national foray and can buy a helicopter and rob the exchequer of lakhs of crores in Kaleshwaram project, he can’t think of revival of Nizam Sugar Factory.

She made it clear that her party won’t be cowed down or pushed to the wall by the attacks of TRS leaders, and instead will continue her fight until a decision is taken and a concrete plan is put in place for the sugar factory.

Sharmila urges Rahul to speak up on corruption in Kaleshwaram project

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief Y.S. Sharmila has written a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appealing him to raise the corruption of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project during his ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Telangana.

Sharmila wrote that as a national party, Congress should have a regional concern too and particularly about a project that her father — late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy conceived to bring permanent solution to the drought-ridden Telangana lands.

“As Rahul Gandhi begins his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana, we welcome him on this soil, and also appeal him to raise this issue that will have far-reaching impact and awareness as the biggest scam committed by KCR to favour his family and one contractor,” she said adding that the local Congress leaders have only been doing cosmetic service when it came to fighting Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his corruption in Kaleshwaram project.

Recalling her father’s commitment and vision towards Telangana, Sharmila tried to draw attention of Rahul Gandhi towards the original specifications of the project that was then conceived as Ambedkar Pranahita Chevella Project, and planned with an outlay of Rs 38,500 crore.

“Today, KCR has hiked the cost to over Rs 1.20 lakh crore with no perceived additional benefits. The original project design, along with Dr. YSR’s unflinching commitment towards irrigation in Telangana was hailed by the Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi. We want Rahul Gandhi to know that the current lot of his colleagues in Telangana have no interest to fight these irregularities.”

“We expect Rahul Gandhi to raise the subject all along his Yatra in Telangana, more seriously, and not just as lip service. This appeal is in the larger interest of the people of Telangana. I wish to add once again that it is only the YSRTP that has been fervently fighting against the corruption and massive malpractices in the project,” she said.

The YSRTP leader said she met the CBI and the CAG officials in Delhi and filed complaints against the project irregularities, falsification of numbers and favouritism.

“We are going all out to expose KCR on all fronts, we have not relented, and we will not relax. While welcoming Rahul Gandhi, we expect that he also understands the seriousness of the scam and as a national party, respond by raising the issue,” she added.

Sharmila questions BJP’s inaction over corruption in Kaleshwaram project

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y. S. Sharmila on Saturday questioned the BJP’s inaction on the corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

She questioned the BJP for not taking any action despite being in power at the Centre.

She slammed opposition BJP and Congress for their silence on the issue. She said both state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy and state BJP president Bandi Sanjay seemed to be dancing to the tunes of the ‘contractor’, who is the sole beneficiary of all projects in Telangana.

“I dare these two parties to prove their honesty in fighting Kaleshwaram corruption, which is no more a state-level scam, but a national issue, because one lakh crores of rupees were disbursed as loans by central funding agencies. What is the BJP government doing in the Centre? While they make statements against KCR’s corruption, they conveniently stay frozen in initiating any action or inquiry. They are authorised to, but they won’t. What is stopping them? Why is only YSRTP fighting on this?,” she asked.

Sharmila, who has already lodged a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), vowed to continue her party’s fight until her objective for a thorough investigation into the corruption is achieved and those who have robbed the state’s exchequer to the tune of one lakh crore rupees were brought to justice.

Sharmila, who also complained to the Comptroller and Auditor General on Friday in Delhi, was addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday. She explained how the Kaleshwaram project was possibly India’s biggest scam and elaborated on the need to probe into the involvement of Chief Minister KCR and his family in this scam.

“After knocking the CBI doors recently, we did not relent and yesterday we met the CAG, who patiently heard all aspects of our complaint and agreed that his office will look into all the aspects of Kaleshwaram project, the malpractices, embezzlement of funds and favouritism of the ruling party that benefited single contractor,” she said.

She claimed that CAG assured that a team of experts along with IITians would conduct a detailed study on the project.

“The CAG has assured us that the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project must be audited, and he would certainly look into the issue. I am confident that the concerned authorities will look into the corruption committed by KCR and his family and will hold them accountable,” she said.

“The corruption in Kaleshwaram has crossed more than one lakh crore of rupees and KCR has looted the exchequer, putting all of us in disgust and letting down the state with his unprecedented greed. This is not notional money and the money has already been spent as KCR deemed the project complete. So, the money crossed hands and has been looted. The corrupt and the culprits must be punished,” she added.

It may be recalled that YSRTP has resolved to wage a long-drawn battle against the Kaleshwaram project corruption, where the project cost was hiked to Rs 1.20 lakh crore, from around Rs 40,000 crore. The party says several allegations pointed to the falsification of figures, inflation of estimates while purchasing motors, and not at all heeding experts’ advice and warnings at any stage of the project.

Sharmila rushes to her cousin’s rescue in Viveka murder case

0

YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila extended support to her cousin, Dr N Sunitha Reddy, in the murder of her father Y S Vivekananda Reddy. She said that the murder was some unwanted incident that happened in the family and the culprits are to be brought to the book.

Sharmila made these comments in Delhi where she submitted a report of corruption against the TRS government to the CAG. After submitting the report, she interacted with the media in Delhi, where she spoke about the murder case and the investigation.

She also supported her cousin Dr Sunitha Reddy’s demand that the CBI should shift the case to another state. She also wanted more teeth to the CBI to investigate into the murder and find out the facts. She said that the murder was an unfortunate one. The more unfortunate thing is that the family is not getting justice when the brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is the chief minister of the state.

Sharmila had differed with Jagan Mohan Reddy two years ago as he denied any position to her who worked for the party and kept it alive when Jagan Mohan Reddy was in jail for 16 months. Sources say that she had asked for an MP post or a key post in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Mohan Reddy had refused her two requests.

She has then floated her own political outfit in Telangana and is working on her own way. Her support now to Dr Sunitha Reddy and her comments on Vivekananda Reddy murder case give new twists to the crime and the conspiracy. She wanted the CBI to unmask all those who were responsible for the murder of her uncle and Dr Sunitha Reddy’s father.

It is to be seen how the ruling YSR Congress leaders would respond to Sharmila’s comments on the murder as her comments cast shadow and point a suspicious finger at the YSR Congress and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy!

Sharmila’s padyatra in Telagana crosses another milestone

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y. S. Sharmila’s Praja Prasthanam Padyatra has crossed another milestone. The walkathon has crossed 2,500 kms, covering 47 Assembly constituencies and connecting with all sections of the society in Telangana.

For the last 175 days, Sharmila has been on the foot march, interacting with people from various sections of the society to know their problems and targeting the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for its failures on various fronts.

The daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy is currently in Kamareddy district as part of his ‘Praja Prasthanam Padyatra’. She walks 10-15 kms every day to meet people.

The padayatra is aimed at completing 4,000 kms by the year-end.

Addressing people at Yellareddy, Sharmila vowed to continue her fight and stay connected to the people of Telangana, for whom her party is committed to fight tirelessly.

“It was a marathon exercise and a massive mission that we had embarked on when YSR Telangana Party laid the first step on July 8, 2021, that was the birth anniversary of my father, late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Today, with the spirit and resolve to change the lives of four crore Telangana people, my Padayatra continues, after having crossed 2,500 kilometers,” he said.

“Since the first step, we have been relentlessly connecting with the people of Telangana, whose lives have been battered severely by the draconian rule of TRS, and the vested political interests of the national parties. There is a massive opposition and dissatisfaction against KCR’s autocratic rule, replete with broken promises, callous governance and astronomical proportions of corruption and nepotism,” she said.

The padayatra began in July last year when Sharmila pledged to walk across the length and breadth of the state and lend a voice to the hapless people of Telangana. Since then, Praja Prasthanam passed through several districts covering 47 Assembly constituencies and 140 ‘mandals’ (blocks).

She connected with every section of the Telangana society, in urban and rural areas, through several programmes that included nirahara deekshas. Mata Muchata, Dharna, and public meetings that drew massive crowds.

“While the ruling TRS has utterly failed the state and pushed it into a debt trap of more than Rs 4 lakhs, the prime opposition parties too have faltered when it came to standing by the side of the people and lending them courage and confidence. YSR Telangana Party is the people’s party and is the only party to fill this gap and fight for the people, besides promising to replicate the glorious rule of late Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, featuring welfare, development, and empowerment of all sections of the people,” Sharmila said.

Will not be cowed down by false cases: Sharmila

1

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y.S. Sharmila on Tuesday made it clear that police cases cannot deter her from speaking against corruption indulged in by the leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

She made the remarks while responding to a complaint filed against her under SC/ST Act in Medak district for making certain remarks during her ongoing Praja Prasthanam Padyatra against local TRS MLA Kranti Kiran, a Dalit.

She slammed Andol MLA, Kranthi Kiran, for what she called abusing his authority and getting false cases filed for questioning his corruption and atrocities.

“You get SC, ST Atrocity cases filed against me for questioning your corruption and atrocities. I am not going to be cowed down or take to heels, fearing your abuse of power. I am here to stand by the side of Telangana people and will continue to question you despite cases and complaints,” she said.

She challenged the TRS MLA to file cases and complaints against the TRS’ failed promises such as Dalit CM, double bedroom houses for Dalits, diversion and siphoning of Dalit Bandhu and SC, ST subplan funds.

“Can you file complaints against your party for the fake promise of thee acres of land and filling up of SC backlog posts, can you bring to justice those who were responsible for the lockup death of the Dalit woman, Mariamma?” she asked.

Sharmila, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, reacted strongly to a complaint filed against her under the SC/ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act.

The complaint was received by Jogipet police on Monday.

Local Dalit association president Satike Raju alleged that the YSRTP leader insulted Dalit MLA Kranti Kiran in Aksan Pally village of Andhol constituency on September 30

Raju stated that since police did not take suo moto action to book a case against Sharmila, he had to lodge a complaint.

Police said they were examining the complaint for necessary action.

Sharmila had alleged that the MLA was resorting to land grabbing.

She said the MLA’s father himself had made the allegations against him.

Congress backstabbed YSR, says his daughter Sharmila

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) leader Y.S. Sharmila on Monday alleged that the Congress backstabbed her father and late (undivided) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Addressing people on the 164th day of her Praja Prasthanam padayatra, Sharmila claimed that it was YSR who led the Congress to power twice in 2004 and 2009 and after 30 years of his dedication to the Congress, that party has backstabbed YSR and added his name to an FIR even after his death.

Sharmila on Monday crossed the 2,300 km mark under her padyatra. This is the highest distance covered by any political leader from this region, since the formation of Telangana.

From criticising the local MLA for his inability to develop the constituency, to targeting KCR-led TRS government for ignoring the region, Sharmila, who entered Sangareddy, attacked both the TRS government and local Congress MLA Jagga Reddy over lack of development there.

Sharmila claimed underdevelopment in Telangana, and how the father-son duo of KCR and KTR are busy making revenue for themselves, while the state is being pushed into a debt trap.

To mark the completion of 2,300 km, she unveiled a statue of her late father at Arutla village under the Kandi mandal of the Sangareddy Assembly segment.

She hit back at MLA Jagga Reddy after the latter alleged that she is working under the direction of the BJP, alleging that Jagga Reddy is a covert ally of KTR in the Congress, and is a turncoat politician who cannot be trusted.

The YSRTP leader said that Jagga Reddy does not have the right to speak against YSR, who was known for the stance he always took in politics. She said that her father has never ever changed parties, and stood up for the people of the region.

Sharmila finds fault with brother’s decision to rename NTR varsity

1

YSR Telangana Party leader Y.S. Sharmila has found fault with the decision of her brother and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to rename the NTR University of Health Sciences after their late father, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR).

She feels that the move amounts to insulting crores of fans of the late TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.

Sharmila said her father was a great and popular leader and he did not need change of some institution’s name which was already named after some other leader to elevate his status.

“Today this institution has been renamed after YSR. Tomorrow, another government may change the name. Will this not amount to insulting YSR?” she asked.

Sharmila, who is currently conducting padyatra in Vikarabad district, feels that YSR does not need somebody’s fame. “No one enjoys the status which YSR had. When he passed away, 700 people died of shock,” she said.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on September 21 passed a Bill to rename NTR University of Health Sciences as YSR University of Health Sciences.

Ignoring the objections and protests of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government went ahead with the legislation.

The Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2022, was passed unanimously in the absences of TDP members, who were earlier suspended from the House by Speaker Tammineni Seetharam for stalling the proceedings in protest against the state government’s move.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy defended the government’s move to rechristen the university.

He said YSR was not only a physician and politician but was also a great humanitarian who understood hardships of the poor and provided best healthcare facilities to them for free.

Set up in 1986, the Health University was named in 1998 after N.T. Rama Rao, who was popularly known as NTR.

With the passing of the Bill, the university has now been renamed after Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

The move triggered angry reaction from the TDP with the party president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu vowing not to rest till the name of NTR is restored for the health university.
