Jagan’s Regime is Turning AP into Zero, says YS Sharmila

0

President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, YS Sharmila, launched scathing criticism against the incumbent Chief Minister, Jaganmohan Reddy, accusing him of orchestrating the state’s descent into zero development. During her campaign, Sharmila urged voters to prioritize the Congress party in the upcoming elections, regardless of inducements offered by other political entities.

Unfulfilled Promises and Betrayal:

Sharmila lambasted Jaganmohan Reddy for his failure to fulfill numerous promises made during his tenure as the opposition leader. Despite garnering substantial parliamentary representation, the state government’s inability to secure special status has led to a stagnation of industrial growth and widespread unemployment. She accused Jagan of duping job-seeking individuals with empty pledges, highlighting his delayed and insufficient action in addressing the employment crisis. Whenever Sharmila spoke about unemployment in her rallies, she is getting more support from the youngsters.

Sharmila decried the dismal state of agriculture under Jagan’s governance, lamenting the absence of debt-free farmers and the inadequate support provided to agricultural sectors. She highlighted the sharp decline in the availability of essential commodities through ration shops, attributing it to the administration’s flawed policies. Moreover, she criticized the government’s economic measures, alleging a pattern of price hikes and insufficient welfare provisions.

Bold Comments on Jagan’s Secret alliance with some BJP leaders:

Furthermore, Sharmila condemned Jagan’s clandestine alliance with the BJP, contrasting it with Chandrababu Naidu’s transparent approach. She emphasized that sustainable state development can only be achieved under Congress’s leadership, pledging to grant special status for a decade upon assuming power. Additionally, she promised substantial financial assistance to impoverished women and the creation of durable housing units.

In contrast, Sharmila projected the Congress party as the harbinger of positive change, advocating for the victory of its candidates. She underscored the party’s commitment to inclusive development and pro-people policies, promising a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s socioeconomic landscape.

As YS Sharmila’s campaign gains momentum, her critique of Jaganmohan Reddy’s governance offers a stark portrayal of the challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh under his leadership. By highlighting unfulfilled promises, economic strain, and agricultural neglect, Sharmila presents the Congress party as a viable alternative dedicated to restoring the state’s prosperity and welfare. Even though there is no possibility of the Congress party coming into power in the state of AP, Sharmila’s efforts may improve the vote percentage for the party this time.

Why Jagan is silent on Viveka murder, Sharmila asks

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila on Saturday asked chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy why he is silent on the murder of his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy. She also questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving ticket to Y S Avinash Reddy who was one of the accused in the Vivekananda Reddy murder.

Speaking to media persons at Kadapa after offering prayers in Dargah, Sharmila said that the CBI had included Avinash Reddy as accused in the murder. The CBI had also tried to arrest Avinash Reddy, she recalled.

She wanted to know why Jagan Mohan Reddy is silent on the murder and supporting the murderers. She said that the chief minister was promoting the accused in the murder. She wanted the CBI and the Central government to take action against those who were involved in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

She further alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had made several promises to the Muslim community in the last five years. He said that Jagan had promised many things even during the 2019 general election. However, he did not fulfil even a single promise, Sharmila said.

She said that only Congress would do justice to the Muslims and every other community. She wanted the people to support the Congress in the coming general election. She asserted that the Congress had been the symbol of social justice over the years.

She blamed Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy for not raising the issue of the steel plant in Kadapa. She said that the MP did not mention the issue at least once in five years in the Parliament. He remained silent on the issue, which had been a core issue for the people of Kadapa, she said.

She promised to complete the steel plant in Kadapa with the Congress forming the government in Delhi. She said that the Congress is the only party which works for the development of every region. She appealed to the people to support her as the MP candidate in Kadapa Parliament constituency.

Vote for Sharmila, defeat Avinash, asks Dr Suneetha

0

Late Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Dr Narreddy Suneetha Reddy on Friday asked the people to vote for Congress president Y S Sharmila in Kadapa Parliament constituency in the coming general elections. She also appealed to the people to defeat Y S Avinash Reddy who is behind the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

Speaking to the people in Sharmila’s bus yatra in Varikuntla village of Kadapa, Dr Suneetha Reddy said that late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy would not have accepted the murder of his brother Vivekananda Reddy. She further said that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy would not have supported the killers of Vivekananda Reddy.

She said that the election is to bring truth out to the people who killed Vivekananda Reddy. She also wanted to know the conspirators behind the murder. She said that those who conspired the murder of Vivekananda Reddy were now contesting the elections. She wanted the people to defeat them and show solidarity to the Vivekananda Reddy family.

Meanwhile, Y S Sharmila, said that the killers of Vivekananda Reddy should not go to the Parliament. She said that the YSR Congress had given the ticket to the man who killed Vivekananda Reddy. She said that the YSR Congress leadership was also trying to save the killer from the courts.

She further said that late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had introduced several welfare schemes in the state during his regime. The Aarogyasri, Fee reimbursement, Jala Yagnam, loan waiver to the farmers and self-help group women and other welfare schemes were introduced by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy, she added.

However, she said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had mortgaged the state and his government to the BJP leadership. Jagan Mohan Reddy was dancing to the tunes of the BJP leaders, she alleged. She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy was going with the BJP leaders despite not giving the special category status, not constructing the steel plant in Kadapa.

Sharmila said that the steel plant would have been a reality by now had Dr Rajasekhar Reddy been the chief minister. She said that she was trying to fulfil the unfinished task of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy and wanted the people to support her.

Sharmila to contest as MP from Kadapa!

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila is likely to contest the Parliament elections from Kadapa. Sources say that the Congress Central leadership had asked Sharmila to file nominations for the Kadapa MP seat.

Sharmila is disinterested in contesting for the Parliament seat. She is more interested in contesting for the Assembly as she wants her presence in the state Assembly. She also believes that the Assembly election would give her some chance to campaign for the party candidates in some pockets.

The Congress is contesting all 175 Assembly seats in the coming elections. Though the party had held talks with the two Left parties on alliance, talks did not go forward on these lines. The Left parties have not come back to the Congress seeking seats.

Sharmila wants to field 175 candidates for the Assembly and 25 candidates for parliament seats. The party had received applications from aspirants across the state. A large number of aspirants have made their applications seeking tickets.

Quite interestingly, there are at least three to four candidates from some constituencies giving it a tough time for the party leadership to pick the right candidate. Though they know that the party has no chance of winning the election, the aspirants want to try their luck.

Meanwhile, the party wants Sharmila to try at Kadapa. The party wants to get the benefit of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. There is a split in the Y S family in Kadapa and the Congress plans to get the benefit.

There is also a strong rumor that the opposition TDP is planning to field either Vivekananda Reddy’s wife Sowbhagyam or daughter Dr Karreddi Sunitha Reddy. The TDP is weighing the pros and cons of fielding either of them either on the party ticket or as independent.

The TDP is calculating the advantages of fielding either wife or daughter or supporting them from outside. The party is yet to make a call on the issue.

Congress meeting deferred to March 16

0

The AP Congress had postponed its public meeting in Visakhapatnam to March 16. The meeting was initially planned for March 15.

Congress top leaders including AICC president Mallikharjuna Kharge, Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy, are scheduled to address the public meeting. A number of Congress senior leaders from the state were also scheduled to address the public meeting.

However, the party, for reasons best known to the leadership, had postponed the meeting to March 16. As usual, the party senior leaders will attend the meeting.

The public meeting is scheduled to pass a couple of resolutions at the end. The resolutions included one against the privatization of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the other on the grant of a railway zone for Visakhapatnam.

The Congress is making its moves fast in Andhra Pradesh ever since Y S Sharmila took over the reins. Sharmila had toured the entire state in the last couple of months. She had also addressed street corner meetings during her whirlwind tour.

She is targeting the ruling YSR Congress for its failure to get the special category status to the state. She is also targeting the ruling party for its failures on different fronts. She had been criticizing chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on debts, development and welfare of the people.

She had also started receiving applications from the aspirants to contest the Assembly and Parliament elections. She had almost completed receiving the applications. She is expected to send the same to the steering committee that would finalize the candidates for the elections.

AP police arrest Congress chief Sharmila

0

The Andhra Pradesh police on Thursday arrested AP Congress president Y S Sharmila at Andhra Rathna Bhavan, the AP Congress headquarters in Vijayawada. Sharmila condemned the arrest and said that the government was more dictatorial.

The police arrested her when she tried to move out of the Andhra Rathna Bhavan to Secretariat, as part of the Congress Party’s call of Chalo Secretariat seeking mega DSC from the State government. She said that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to release the job calendar every year and had promised to fill the teacher posts through DSC. However, the job calendar was never released, and the DSC was never conducted, she said.

Sharmila alleged that the government was scared of the Congress. The government had become more dictatorial by arresting the opposition leaders. She wondered why the chief minister is scared of the opposition leaders.

The police have first arrested CWC leader Gidugu Rudra Raju and Sunkara Padmasri. Later, they arrested Sharmila. The police have posted heavy security at Andhra Rathna Bhavan and all the way to Velagapudi secretariat. They have blocked the roads and conducted thorough checks along the road. They prevented the Congress workers from moving on the roads leading to the secretariat.

Earlier, Sharmila slept in the Andhra Rathna Bhavan fearing that she would be arrested by the police. She took a rest in the Andhra Rathna Bhavan and planned to go to Velagapudi. However, the police prevented the Congress leaders from coming out of the party office.

The police have also arrested several Congress leaders and kept some under house arrest. The Congress leaders were not allowed to move on the roads leading to mild clashes between the Congress leaders and the police.

The police also posted several teams in Guntur, Krishna and NTR districts, besides keeping the senior leaders under house arrest in various districts across the state. The party leaders who tried to come out of their homes were also arrested and shifted to the nearest police station.

Earlier in the day, Sharmila sat in protest at the Andhra Rathna Bhavan in Vijayawada. She raised slogans against the state government. She also demanded that the state government take up teacher recruitment through the DSC.

Sharmila holds protest in Delhi on bifurcation issues

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila on Friday held a protest against denial of Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh. She sat on a dharna at the Ambedkar statue in AP Bhavan in Delhi on the day.

She was accompanied by senior Congress leaders N Raghuveera Reddy, M M Pallam Raju, J D Seelam and others. She asked the state and the Central government to take steps to grant SCS to the state at the earliest.

She blamed the YSR Congress for not raising the SCS issue in the last five years. She said that 31 MPs of the YSR Congress were sleeping in Parliament without asking for what was promised to the state at the time of bifurcation. She questioned the YSR Congress MPs for remaining silent for years together and doing injustice to the state.

She said that the Centre had promised SCS to the state, Dugarajapatnam Port, steel plant in Kadapa, railway zone in Visakhapatnam besides other things. She wondered why the state government is silent on these issues. She wanted to know what was stopping the YSR Congress from asking for these issues from the Centre.

She blamed the BJP leadership at the Centre for going back on the bifurcation promises. She asked the BJP-led government at the Centre to give SCS to the state at the earliest. She also wanted the Centre to give everything that was promised for the state at the time of bifurcation.

She said that the BJP had won neither an MP seat nor an MLA seat in Andhra Pradesh. But the party was ruling the state, she said. She also regretted that the YSR Congress had become a slave to the BJP in the state. She wanted to know why the YSR Congress was doing slavery to the BJP when none of the bifurcation issues were implemented.

She said that both the YSR Congress and the BJP have betrayed the people of the state by going back on the promises. She said that people would teach a lesson to the two parties if they fail to get the SCS and other issues resolved at the earliest.

She wanted to know what agreement that both the YSR Congress and the BJP have to stop asking for the SCS and other issues. She asked the YSR Congress to tell people what was stopping them from fighting the special category status and other issues.

Earlier in the day, Sharmila met senior leaders Sharad Pawar, Sitaram Yechuri and others and requested them to raise the SCS and other bifurcation issues of Andhra Pradesh in Parliament.

YV, Sai Reddy, Ramakrishna Reddy is YSR, not late leader, says Sharmila

0

“There is no YSR in the YSR Congress party. This YSR is different. It represents YV Subba Reddy (Y), Vijaya Sai Reddy (S) and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy (R),” asserted APCC president Y S Sharmila. Speaking to the party workers at Ongole on Saturday, Sharmila said that the party had given up YSR ideals.

She said that YSR had started the Gundlakamma project under Jala Yagnam. However, the present government headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had completely ignored it. She said that the project gates were damaged, and the government is not ready to spend even a penny to get the gates repaired and restored.

She visited the project site along with the party senior leaders and regretted that such an important project was neglected by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. She said that late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy wanted agriculture to develop and had started the Jala Yagnam programme. However, this government had completely neglected the agriculture and irrigation sectors.

She also blamed the government for not completing the Veligonda project. She said that late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had completed 70 per cent of the project and wondered why the present government could not complete the remaining 30 percent if they are interested in agriculture and irrigation sectors.

Sharmila also blamed the YSR Congress government for not bringing even a single industry to Prakasam district. She said that people are migrating to other places in search of livelihood and wondered how long they should continue this migration. She blamed the government for not making any effort to stop migrations.

She also blamed the government for not taking up Dugarajapatnam Port, which was part of the bifurcation issues. She said that the Central government is ready to give funds for the port works, while the state was not asking for it.

She blamed the YSR Congress for becoming loyal to the BJP leadership. She said that the BJP without a single seat in the state was dictating politics in Andhra Pradesh. She said that the YSR Congress had surrendered to the BJP, and it was the BJP which was ruling the state.

Sharmila says she did not meet Jagan expecting good

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila said that she did not meet her brother and AP Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy expecting anything good from him. She said that her mother, Vijayamma, is a witness to her meeting with Jagan Mohan Reddy. She further said that she had met him only once in the past and second time to invite him to her son’s engagement.

Speaking to the media during the Republic Day celebrations at the party office – Andhra Rathna Bhavan – here, Sharmila said that she was not expecting anything from her brother. She wanted him to work for the welfare and uplift of the people as the chief minister.

She said that she is Y S Sharmila and is daughter of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. She would be called Y S Sharmila and not anything else. She said that her father, Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had named her son as Raja Reddy and that would remain a link with the family.

Referring to the state government, Sharmila said that people who kill Dalits are welcomed into the YSR Congress. They are moving close to the powers that be, she said. He blamed the government for neglecting the welfare and development of the Dalits. She said that Ambedkarism is not about putting up Ambedkar statues but implementing what Dr Ambedkar had said.

She also alleged that the government was diverting the SC, ST funds to the ruling party leaders. The ruling party leaders were making money while the Dalits were starving. She wanted the government to give funds to the Dalits and weaker sections and restore all the schemes meant for them.

She also said that the YSR Congress was not treating the weaker sections equally. She wanted the people to teach a fitting lesson to the YSR Congress in the coming elections. She also appealed to the people to vote against the YSR Congress and ensure that the Congress is restored to power in the state.

The APCC president said that only Congress would develop the state and work for the development of every section of the society. She also maintained that only Congress has the national vision to develop the state and its people. The regional parties would only enjoy power and do not work for the people, she said.

Sharmila blames Jagan for distancing everyone

0

APCC president Y S Sharmila on Thursday blamed her brother and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for distancing everyone after becoming the chief minister. She said that several people in the state have made several sacrifices to make Jagan as the chief minister. However, after becoming the chief minister Jagan had distanced everyone including the family members, she said.

Speaking to the party workers at Kakinada, Sharmila said that Jagan Mohan Reddy is the reason for dispute and disturbance in the family. She said that God, her mother Vijayamma and other family members are witnesses to this. She found fault with Jagan for blaming the Congress for the dispute in the family.

She said that she had walked for 3,200 kilometres for Jagan Mohan Reddy. She worked for the YSRCP leaving her family and children aside. She was on the roads for several days only for Jagan, she said and regretted that Jagan Mohan Reddy had done nothing for her. She said that Jagan had changed after becoming the chief minister.

She blamed Jagan for supporting the BJP at the national level. She wondered how the BJP is able to control the AP politics even without a single MP or MLA from the state. She said that the YSRCP was sold out to the BJP and had done injustice to the people of the state.

She blamed Jagan Mohan Reddy for not fighting for special category status. She wondered why the chief minister was silent on the key issue. She said that Jagan had promised the people that he would fight for special category status. However, after coming to power, Jagan Mohan Reddy forgot his promise.

Sharmila also blamed Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving up the ideals of their father late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. She said that except the name there was nothing that this government was doing to fulfil the promises of the late leader. She wondered why Jagan Mohan Reddy did not develop three capitals. Taking strong exception to the three capitals plan, she wanted to know why the chief minister had failed to develop even a single capital in five years.

The APCC president said that agriculture is completely neglected in the Jagan Mohan Reddy dispensation. While agriculture was a festival during Dr Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime, it had become a curse during Jagan Mohan Reddy regime.

YSR Congress alliance with BJP is invisible, says Sharmila

0

AP Congress president Y S Sharmila on Wednesday said that the alliance between the ruling YSR Congress and the BJP is invisible. She said that the YSR Congress has strong bondage with the BJP leadership in Delhi.

She was addressing the party workers at Visakhapatnam on the day when she made a scathing attack on the ruling YSR Congress. She said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is in alliance with the BJP leaders. The alliance cannot be seen outside, she said and added that the strong bondage between Jagan Mohan Reddy and the BJP leaders has been there for years.

Sharmila questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy for not bringing special category status to the state. She said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had fought for the Special Category Status when he was in the opposition. She also recalled that Jagan Mohan Reddy had asked people to give him 25 MPs and he would get the special category status. However, he did not even open his mouth in the last five years about special category status, she said.

She also blamed the chief minister for not getting the railway zone for Visakhapatnam. She wondered why the chief minister was silent despite the Centre not giving the railway zone to Visakhapatnam. She wanted to know why the chief minister is also silent when the Centre is not bringing the railway zone to the state despite promising it.

She blamed the chief minister for remaining silent when the Central government was getting ready to privatize the steel plant in Visakhapatnam. She questioned the chief minister for his silence on the steel plant issue despite the employees’ holding protests.

She also blamed the chief minister and the state government for giving its share in the Gangavaram port to the private company. She alleged that the chief minister had tied up with the BJP government at the Centre and is closing his eyes for everything that the BJP leaders are doing.

Sharmila made an appeal to the people to defeat the YSR Congress government in the state and bring the Congress government if they wanted the steel plant to be protected, railway zone to be a reality and special category status to come.

Sharmila wants YSR supporters to come to Congress

0

APCC new president Y S Sharmila on Sunday appealed to the supporters of late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to come to the Congress and work to realise his dreams of bringing Congress to power. She wanted the YSR supporters to join hands with her to realise his dreams.

Sharmila took the charge as the APCC president at a private function hall and addressed the rank and file. She said that Dr Rajasekhar Reddy had always wanted to see Rahul Gandhi as prime minister of the country. She said that the dream would come true only if all the supporters of Dr Reddy joined her.

She said that she is ready to work for the ideals of her father and wanted everyone to support her. She also said that any vote given to the TDP or the YSR Congress would help the BJP strengthen in Delhi. She said that both the parties were supporting the BJP in Delhi despite the BJP not doing anything for Andhra Pradesh.

She said that both the TDP and the YSR Congress have compromised with the BJP leadership despite the party not giving the special category status to the state. While the Congress had promised the special category status, the BJP wanted to give it for 10 years. However, the special category status was not given to the state even after ten years of bifurcation, she said.

The special category status would have brought industries to the state with the incentives offered by the Central government. The industries would have given jobs to the locals, she said. Now, with no special category status, there are no industries and no jobs for the people, she said.

She also blamed both the TDP and the YSR Congress for neglecting the Polavaram project. She said that the project was started by Dr Rajasekhar Reddy who completed the right and left main canals. The TDP and the YSR Congress have failed to complete the project even after ten years, she said.

Congress eyes on its vote bank, appoints Sharmila as PCC chief

0

The Congress leadership in Delhi is eyeing its vote bank in Andhra Pradesh. The party wants to get back its past glory and get back its vote bank. The party had lost its vote bank to the ruling YSR Congress after the State was bifurcated in 2014.

The entire Congress vote bank went to Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress. Even the leaders have gone to the YSR Congress. The party is suffering due to lack of leaders and voters. A handful of leaders who are now with the Congress are unable to make any impact in electoral politics.

With an intention to get back the vote bank, the party appointed Y S Sharmila as the AP Congress Committee president. The party removed incumbent Gidugu Rudra Raju to facilitate her appointment. Rudra Raju was made a special invitee into the Congress Working Committee.

The Congress leadership believes that Sharmila would be able to bring the party’s vote bank to the party. She wants to fight her brother and AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and get his vote bank to the Congress.

The rank and file of the Congress have gone to the YSR Congress led by Jagan Mohan Reddy after the state was bifurcated. The party faced humiliating defeat in the 2014 general election to the state Assembly and was almost washed out of the political scene in the subsequent 2019 general election.

The Congress leadership now wants to use Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s legacy to fight and get back the past glory. The Congress believes that people of the state would accept Sharmila as the political heir of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy.

It is now to be seen whether the people would accept her as the political heir of Dr Rajasekhar Reddy or not. If people accept her, they will come back to the Congress giving a rude shock to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It would be difficult for Jagan Mohan Reddy to retain his vote bank if people really take Sharmila as the political heir to Dr Rajasekhar Reddy. It has to be seen what Jagan Mohan Reddy would do when his sister gets down to the work as the new APCC president.

Can YS Sharmila Truly Resurrect the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh?

0

YS Sharmila, the daughter of the late YSR, has recently made a surprising political move by joining the Congress party. This decision has sparked widespread speculation about her role and the potential impact on the party’s fortunes in Andhra Pradesh.

Rumors of PCC Chief Post: A New Beginning?

Rumors are circulating that Sharmila might be appointed as the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief in Andhra Pradesh. This move raises questions about her ability to revive a party that has faced significant challenges in the state.

First Challenge: YS Family’s Previous Comments on Congress Conspiracy Behind YSR Death:

Sharmila’s political journey is intertwined with the complex dynamics of her family and their historical affiliations with the Congress party. Her father, YSR, served as the Chief Minister under the Congress banner. However, political disputes led to the formation of YSRCP by her brother, Jagan, who later campaigned against the Congress. During those times, Sharmila stood by her brother and openly criticized the Congress. Articles published in their media outlet, Sakshi, hinted at conspiracy theories involving the Congress and Sonia Gandhi behind the death of YSR. Now, with her return to the Congress fold, the challenge lies in convincing the people that she genuinely supports the party.

Second Challenge: The Lingering Impact of Bifurcation

The Congress party’s decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh in 2014 had severe repercussions. The unscientific division, resulting in the creation of Telangana, led to resentment among the people of AP. The absence of proper capital for residual Andhra Pradesh and insufficient resources further fueled anti-Congress sentiments. Convincing the people to trust Congress again, considering the lasting damage caused by the bifurcation, poses a significant challenge.

Third Challenge: Vote Bank Diversion to Jagan’s Party

The collapse of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh resulted in the swift rise of Jagan’s YSRCP. Establishing YSRCP at the grassroots level redirected the Congress vote bank towards Jagan’s party. Winning back this support for Congress, while Jagan’s party remains strong, presents a formidable challenge.

Fourth Challenge: Sharmila’s Image of Failed Politician in Telangana

Sharmila’s recent foray into Telangana politics, where she formed the YSRTP and made comments dismissing her connection with Andhra Pradesh, adds another layer of complexity. Her inconsistent stance and disparaging remarks about AP could hinder her acceptance among the public, creating an additional challenge in the revival of the Congress party. Her image of a failed politician in Telangana is a minus point for the Congress party too.

In conclusion, YS Sharmila’s entry into the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh is laden with challenges. From credibility issues stemming from her past criticisms to the lingering impact of the ill-fated bifurcation, the hurdles are manifold. Winning back a lost vote bank and overcoming public skepticism due to her recent comments in Telangana further compound the difficulties. Sharmila’s political journey to revive the Congress in Andhra Pradesh is undeniably marked by complexities that only time will unravel.

Sharmila invites Naidu for her son’s wedding

0

Congress leader Y S Sharmila on Saturday visited the residence of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and gave him her son Raja Reddy’s wedding invitation. She invited Chandrababu Naidu for the wedding.

Earlier last week, Sharmila visited Amaravati and invited her brother and AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for the marriage. Later, she met Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy and invited him too for the wedding.

She spent some time in the house of Naidu talking to him about some politics. Though the political talk was not serious, it had some issues concerning her responsibility in the Congress. Naidu appeared little curious over her role in the Congress.

Shamila had merged her YSRTP with the Congress a fortnight ago in the presence of AICC president Mallikharjuna Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi. She is expected to be made the general secretary of the AICC and would be asked to take care of the party in the two Telugu states, where the elections are round the clock.

As she is currently busy now with her son’s wedding, she is not pursuing the party high command for the responsibility to be given to her. She is likely to take up the issue once the wedding in the family is completed.

Sources also indicate that Sharmila would be sent to Rajya Sabha from neighbouring Karnataka. Any decision by the Congress leaders is expected to come only in the end of January or early February, when the election schedule is released.

Merger Effect: Extensive Trolling of YS Sharmila on Social Media

0

n a surprising political move, YS Sharmila officially aligned herself with the Congress at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, merging her YSRTP into the party. A warm welcome from AICC president Mallikharjuna Kharge and Rahul Gandhi fueled speculation about her potential role, with talks of her being appointed as APCC president or AICC general secretary. The possibility of a Rajya Sabha membership from Karnataka added another layer to the unfolding narrative, courtesy of her strong connections in the state, facilitated by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shiva Kumar.

However, Sharmila’s decision to merge her party into the Congress triggered a substantial backlash from netizens, resulting in extensive trolling on social media. Critics swiftly unearthed past videos where she accused the Congress of backstabbing her family by naming her late father YSR in an FIR despite his instrumental role in the party’s victory. The irony of her earlier statements, suggesting YSR would have advocated spitting on Congress, now reverberates as she joins the same party.

Her recent focus on Telangana politics added another layer of criticism, as she had previously dismissed questions about Andhra Pradesh, her brother YS Jagan’s realm, by claiming it didn’t concern her. Videos circulating online expose her prior comments, categorizing AP as a mere “neighbor state” for her. Additionally, her earlier insinuations of a conspiracy behind YSR’s death, indirectly pointing fingers at the Congress, resurfaced on social media.

Despite Sharmila’s financial prowess, evident in her substantial wealth, her political journey seems plagued by persistent challenges and the scrutiny of an increasingly unforgiving online audience.

Y S Sharmila joins Congress finally

Y S Sharmila joined the Congress in Delhi on Thursday. She went to the AICC headquarters and joined the party. She also merged her YSRTP in the Congress.

AICC president Mallikharjuna Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi welcomed her into the party. They gave her the party towel and received her in the party office. Sharmila’s husband and evangelist Brother Anil Kumar was also present on the occasion.

There is speculation that Sharmila would be made the APCC president and would be given the responsibility to lead the party for the 2024 general elections to the state Assembly. However, the party is likely to name her as the AICC general secretary and would be given some state, besides taking care of the party in the two Telugu states.

There is also a speculation that Sharmila would be given Rajya Sabha membership from Karnataka. She has strong connections in the Congress Party in Karnataka. Deputy chief minister D K Shiva Kumar is closely associated to the YSR family, and it was he who lobbied with her to join the Congress.

Sharmila started her YSRTP on July 8, 2021. She undertook a historic padayatra in Telangana and chose not to contest the Assembly elections. She supported the Congress in the just-concluded Assembly elections and played a key role in the victory of the party.

Later, speaking to the media, Sharmila said that she was happy to join the Congress, which she said was the only secular national party in the country. She said that she was pained at the demolition of 2000 churches in Manipur. This happened because there was no secular party in the government at the Centre, she said.

Sharmila said that her late father, Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy wanted to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of the country. She had come to the Congress now only to realise his dream. She expressed confidence that the Congress would win the coming general elections to the Parliament and Rahul would become the Prime Minister.

YSRTP president Y S Sharmila arrived in Vijayawada on Wednesday. She moved to Tadepalli and met the Chief Minister and her brother Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office. She invited the chief minister to the wedding of her son.

Meanwhile, Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy accompanied Sharmila. Though he started his vehicle along with Sharmila, he could not reach the Tadepalli camp office on time due to traffic. The security personnel did not allow him into the camp office initially. However, with a phone call from the CMO, the security personnel allowed his vehicle.

Later, speaking to media persons, Ramakrishna Reddy said that he would join the Congress Party shortly. He said that Sharmila would be joining the party on January 4 and he would join a little later. He said that he would work for the party as decided by the party leadership.

He said he is not aware of those who are also joining the Congress along with Sharmila. He further said that he is unaware of the names but would go with Sharmila and follow her leadership in the party.

On criticising Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, while being in the Congress, Ramakrishna Reddy said that he would follow the guidelines issued by the Congress leaders. Everything is acceptable in politics, he said and added that if he would have to criticise Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress government, he would accept whatever the Congress leadership tells him.

However, he sounded that he would not go hard in criticising Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress government. He would let the criticism be soft as he had been associated with Jagan Mohan Reddy and the party for several years and had been a staunch loyalist of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sharmila thanks RK for his support

YSR TP president Y S Sharmila thanked Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy for extending support to her. She said that she would meet RK soon and move forward.

It may be mentioned here that a couple of days ago, RK said that his political journey would go with Sharmila here after. He said that he was hearing the news of Sharmila joining the Congress and he said he would also go with her.

Sharmila said that she would welcome everyone whoever supported her in her political journey. She also thanked everyone for their support to her.

Sharmila held a meeting with her party leaders in Hyderabad on Tuesday. She told them that she would be merging her party with the Congress on January 4. She also requested the party leaders to join her in going to the Congress.

However, she did not tell the media what her plans are and when she would join the Congress. She only told the media persons waiting outside her party office that everything would be clear in the next two days.

“Please wait for two days. You will get everything cleared,” she told the media persons.

Sharmila left for Idupulapaya after the party meeting to give her son’s wedding card to her father. Sharmila would keep the wedding card at the tomb of her father late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and seek his blessings.

Sharmila is likely to go to Delhi on Wednesday. She will be joining the Congress in Delhi on Thursday, January 4. She is likely to be made the AICC general secretary and would be asked to take care of the two Telugu states.

Sharmila joining Congress – whose gain it will be?

0

YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila is all set to join the Congress Party. She is likely to join the party in the presence of AICC president Mallikharjuna Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka on January 4 in Delhi.

She is holding a meeting of the party leaders in Hyderabad on Tuesday and is scheduled to announce her party’s merger with the Congress at the meeting. She is also likely to take around 50 senior leaders of the party into Congress.

There is a lot of debate in the political circles that she would be used in Andhra Pradesh to get back the Congress vote bank. The Congress’ traditional vote bank had gone to the YSR Congress in the state along with the leaders. Several Congress leaders have joined the YSR Congress deserting the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh.

Now, the Congress is eyeing those votes and wants to use Sharmila, the daughter of late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, to get the votes. She was asked to hold two meetings – one in Visakhapatnam and the other in Vijayawada for the party.

It is said that she would be able to get both the leaders and the vote bank for the party from the YSR Congress. Her joining with the Congress would have an adverse impact on the YSR Congress and the electoral prospects of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

But she would be busy for more than two months with a marriage in the family. Her son is getting married, and she would be busy with those celebrations rather than being of any use to the Congress Party.

By the time she comes out of family function, the election heat in Andhra Pradesh would die and thus she might be of not much use for the Congress. She would have less time on hand to tour the district, meet the leaders and invite them to join the Congress.

But she would be getting the real benefit from Congress. She is likely to be made the general secretary of the party, besides Rajya Sabha member from Karnakata. Thus she would be getting the benefit from the party rather than helping the party.
