KCR spends busy day at newly-inaugurated Secretariat

0

A day after inauguration of new Telangana Secretariat, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday spent a busy day at the state administrative headquarters, holding review meetings and taking some key decisions.

The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Sunday, reached the complex in the afternoon.

After entering the new Secretariat building through the main East gate, KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, reached the Yagashala where Sudharshana Yagam was performed on Sunday. He participated in the second special puja performed by Vedic scholars.

After that, he directly reached his office chambers on the sixth floor. He personally visited the offices of his Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and PROs and inquired about the furniture and other arrangements made in their chambers.

The Chief Minister also walked through the corridors and discussed various issues with the officials.

He then returned to his chamber and held a meeting with public representatives who came to meet him.

The first review meeting KCR conducted at the new Secretariat on Monday was on Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme.

In view of the permission given by the Supreme Court to continue Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation project works related to drinking water, he reviewed the progress of the works to supply drinking water to undivided Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy districts.

In another meeting, the Chief Minister extended the deadline for regularisation of the notary lands as per Government Orders 58 and 59 by one month.

KCR said that the state government will regularise the house sites, owned by the poorer sections, as per the rules and provide them legal rights to construct houses in the municipalities which come in the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

He appealed to people to utilise the opportunity given by the state government. People are requested to meet MLAs in their respective Assembly Constituencies and discuss notary, house sites regularisation and other issues with them.

The CM said that the government will compile all the problems and solve them. People will be given land pattas with legal rights and the government’s main objective is to address the poor housing issues at one go, he said, adding that a special drive will be organised for this.

He said that notary problems regarding the agricultural lands will also be resolved. Collectors’ conference will be held soon on this particular issue.

The MLAs of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad met the Chief Minister and requested him to address the issue of house sites for the poor.

The chief minister is often criticized by the opposition parties for not visiting the Secretariat and confining mostly to Pragati Bhavan, his official residence. With the state-of-the-art and grand building of the Secretariat built as per his plan, they hoped that at least now he would come to the Secretariat regularly.

In the past, KCR had dismissed the criticism by the opposition parties and argued that a Chief Minister can perform his duties from anywhere.

0

The Telangana government on Sunday issued orders for regularisation of over 5,000 contract employees in various departments.

The orders were issued after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao approved the file concerned after taking his chair in his chambers in the new state Secretariat.

A Government Order (GO) regularising the services of 5,544 contract employees in 16 departments was issued by Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.

All-round development symbolises Telangana’s reconstruction: KCR

0

The massive all-round development achieved by Telangana during the last nine years symbolises the state’s reconstruction and is a slap on the face of those who opposed formation of new state, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday.

He said the political adversaries who criticise the state government should also open their eyes and see the progress Telangana has achieved in these nine years.

Speaking at the inauguration of new building of Telangana Secretariat, he recalled that during the Telangana movement, many people had raised apprehensions about the future of the state and even predicted that there would be backwardness and darkness if Telangana becomes a separate state.

KCR pointed out that even the Planning Commission had declared all Telangana districts except Hyderabad as backward districts and people were asking how Telangana would develop without water and power.

“After the formation of Telangana state, many debates took place. Political rivals raised many doubts and criticised the government’s vision and plan to reconstruct Telangana

“They used to ask us, what does Telangana reconstruction mean? Are you going to destroy the entire Telangana and reconstruct it? Today they have got the answer,” he said.

KCR said that soon after came to power in 2014, his government re-dedicated and started reconstructing Telangana in every sector. “Today, Telangana state has become a role model and guiding force for the country in the welfare and development sectors,” he said.

KCR said that from the rejuvenation of all Kakatiya-era water bodies, ponds and lakes in the state to a stage where lakes and ponds were full even during summer, construction of Kaleshwaram project as the world’s largest lift irrigation scheme, all were reconstruction of Telangana.

He listed out the strides made by the state during the last nine years, including the success in overcoming electricity shortage and ensuring supply of drinking water to every household.

KCR said the government permanently solved the problem of fluorosis. The government also created 33 districts for administrative convenience. “We demolished the old structures and built people-friendly government offices,” he said.

KCR also mentioned about the rapid progress made in agriculture.

“The total paddy cultivation area during Yasangi in the country stood at 94 lakh acres, out of which 56 lakh acres were in Telangana alone,” he said.

“Today, there is no power crisis in Telangana. Round-the-clock power supply is provided to all sectors. Farmers are living with pride and it is the result of the reconstruction of Telangana. The growth of villages and towns is phenomenal. Telangana bagged all-time record Panchayat awards presented by the union government recently,” he said.

Stating that forest cover depleted fast in united Andhra Pradesh, he said after the bifurcation, growth of forests in Telangana has been incredible. Migrated workers from Palamuru district returned to their native places and reached the level of providing employment to migrated workers from other states of the country.

KCR said the new Industrial policy was attracting huge investments in the Telangana state and Hyderabad is surpassing Bengaluru in the IT sector.

“With the efficient police machinery, there is no law and order problem and no communal disturbances in the state since the formation of Telangana in 2014. Telangana police stand as a role model in the country,” he said.

The chief minister pointed out that the per capita income of Telangana is the highest among all states in India.

“The per capita power consumption of Telangana is also the highest. The per capita power consumption has increased above 2,000 units from 1,100 units nine years ago,” KCR said.

The chief minister said construction of the beautiful building for Secretariat also symbolises reconstruction of Telangana.

“Some political adversaries tried to create hurdles in the construction of the new Secretariat. The government did not take serious note and moved forward and built the state Secretariat which is one of the few wonderful government structures in the country,” he said.

He termed inauguration of new Secretariat a red letter day in the history of Telangana.

“The marvel structure of the new Secretariat is the epicentre of the state administration. Today, I am blessed and fortunate that I inaugurated the wonderful new Secretariat.”

Explaining why the government named the new Secretariat after B.R. Ambedkar, he said that “Ambedkar as message for the development of all sections is a big inspiration to the state government”.

“We fought peacefully by following Gandhian ideology and achieved separate Telangana state. The architect of Indian Constitution, B.R. Ambedkar’s vision of enshrining Article 3 in the Constitution helped the creation of Telangana state,” he said, adding that the giant statue of Ambedkar adjacent to the state Secretariat will always inspire the state government officials who discharge their duties to fulfil the aspirations of the people.

Telangana’s grand Secretariat, a brainchild of KCR, thrown open

0

Turning a new leaf in its history, India’s youngest state Telangana on Sunday opened a new building of its Secretariat, the nerve centre of state’s administration equipped with state-of-the-art features and built with a unique design.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the complex by occupying a chair in his chambers on the sixth floor and signing a few files. A group of priests performed the rituals with chanting of Vedic hymns.

Ministers, leaders of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and senior officials presented bouquets to congratulate him on the occasion. Many ministers and other public representatives bowed down to touch the feet of Chief Minister KCR.

Ministers, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, secretaries and other top officials occupied their chairs in their respective chambers simultaneously.

A brainchild of Chief Minister KCR, the Secretariat complex has come up near the banks of Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of the city at the same piece of land where old buildings of Telangana Secretariat and earlier undivided Andhra Pradesh stood.

The building, termed as a symbol of Telangana’s progress, boasts off two massive domes. National emblem atop the huge domes has taken the building to its planned height of 265 feet, making it the tallest state Secretariat in the country.

The integrated complex housing the offices of the chief minister, ministers, chief secretary and all other secretaries and heads of departments, reflects the pride of Telangana and would stand as a role model for other states, says the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. It has been named after the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

Built at a cost of over Rs 600 crore, the Secretariat is a six-storey structure with seven lakh square feet of built-up space and equipped with all modern facilities.

The rituals associated with the inauguration of the building began Sunday morning. Sudarshana Yagam was performed by Vedic pandits. Minister for roads and buildings Vemula Prashant Reddy and his wife performed Dwaralaxmi puja.

After the Sudershana Yagam, Chandi homam and vastu homam were performed.

Chief Minister KCR arrived at the Secretariat at around 1.15 p.m. After getting down from the car at the main gate and accompanied by a few ministers and top officials, he walked towards the special tent to perform puja before driving into the complex. At the entrance KCR took a salute from a police contingent before unveiling a plaque and cutting the ribbon to formally inaugurate the building.

The structure has been built in the Indo-Saracenic style that blends the Indo-Islamic architectural features generally with domes. The multiple domes and arches of the building perfectly fit in this style representing the syncretic and liberal Deccani style, expressing Telangana’s quintessence.

Designed by the Chennai-based Architects Ponni Concessao and Oscar Concessao, the complex has been built by Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Pvt Limited with all the Indian Green Building Council norms, meeting the stipulations of fire safety, disaster management and other mandatory regulations.

The construction work started in January 2021 amid Covid-19 and court cases, but was completed in a record time of 26 months. According to officials, usually it takes five years to complete the works of such a huge construction.

The building, a fusion of different cultures, has been built with a height of 265 feet on an area of 10,51,676 square feet in a sprawling 28 acres. It has 34 domes, including two huge domes, which add attraction to the complex.

The six-storey Secretariat, with 635 rooms, 30 conference halls and 24 lifts, has been built to accommodate 2,000 employees.

There are two floors with 4,500 square feet each under the dome on the sixth floor. These will be used for the President, Prime Minister and foreign guests who are on a state visit. Royal dining halls have been built in the Persian model.

According to officials, 3,500 cubic meters of Dholpur red stone, which was used for Parliament building, was also utilised for the new Secretariat. For this, a whole mine was used in Dholpur, Rajasthan. From there, the stone was transported to Hyderabad in 1,000 trucks. Red stone is used for the entire basement, while light brown stone is used from the main dome to the portico.

The government has also built Hindu, Muslim and Christian prayer halls in the Secretariat. They have been made more spacious and beautiful than before. The government has provided flexibility to get the construction done according to the wishes of the respective religious leaders.

Sharmila asks KCR to name corrupt MLAs

0

YSR Telangana Party leader Y.S. Sharmila on Friday came down heavily on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao after his warning to his MLAs against demanding bribes and commissions from people while extending government schemes.

In her open letter to KCR, Sharmila demanded that the list of the legislators be immediately be made public, since the chief minister has already claimed that he has full knowledge about their misdeeds.

Addressing BRS leaders on party formation day on Thursday, KCR had reportedly warned the MLAs saying he has all details of their wrongdoings.

“Today, we demand KCR that he put the list in the public domain and let this begin with his family members’ names. Your daughter is tainted in a liquor scam, and your son’s IT department is caught on the wrong foot in the TSPSC paper leak scam. You have not taken any action. Fingers point out at you and your family in Kaleshwaram project corruption to the tune of one lakh crores. Why don’t you dare to act?” she asked.

The YSR Telangana Party chief made it clear that all the allegations of corruption, encroachments, and misdeeds against the BRS government have been deemed accepted by KCR as soon as he had made it clear that his MLAs were demanding Rs 3 lakh for Dalit Bandhu and double bedroom houses.

She also added that it was the election mood that pushed KCR to showcase himself as an honest and strict leader.

“When MLAs themselves have turned villains in people’s lives, looting and plundering them, then why can’t the CM initiate a call centre or a dedicated representative in CMO handle these complaints? What is stopping you from doing this? Is it the sheer fear that your family members’ names will feature more often than anyone else’s?” she asked.

“It is the right of the Telangana people to know the names, and this is one favour that KCR could extend at this moment, since the last nine years, it was only destruction and damage that he had inflicted on the state,” wrote Sharmila.

She also released a video in which she demanded KCR to act against the corrupt in his party, including his own daughter.

KCR confident of BRS hat-trick in Telangana with over 100 seats

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday exuded confidence that the party will retain power in the state by winning more than 100 seats in 119-member Assembly.

Addressing the general body meeting to mark party’s formation day, he said the BRS would score a hat-trick in the Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

“BRS won 63 seats in the first assembly election and 88 seats in the second assembly election. The BRS party will win more than 100 in the next election,” he said.

“Coming to power again in Telangana is not a big task. The priority is to win more seats than before,” he told the participants including ministers, MPs and state legislators.

KCR said two leaders should also take responsibility from the government in every assembly constituency. He called for connecting with people through programmes like Palle Nidra (Night halt in villages).

He said Zilla Parishad chairpersons, MPs and district in-charges should play the role of in-charges in the assembly constituencies where the BRS legislators are not available. The process should be completed within 3 to 4 months.

The BRS pulled up some MLAs over complaints against them. He warned them that if they didn’t mend their ways, they would be expelled from the party.

He asked the party leaders to take steps to reduce discontent among the cadre. He also wanted them to educate people about the government schemes, interact with them and mingle with them regularly.

The BRS chief said that the party will reach out to masses through producing TV ads and films. He said if necessary, the party will also run a TV channel.

Stating that in some villages, government lands are lying idle, he asked the party leaders to submit the details of such lands with survey numbers to his office. Suitable lands will be distributed to the poor to construct the houses immediately.

KCR recalled the formation of TRS to realise the dream of Telangana people and explained its evolution as a national party BRS to fulfil the aspiration of the people of the country.

“The achievement of Telangana state proved to the country that anything can be achieved in a parliamentary way. Now, we are moving ahead to keep the country on the path of progress with a slogan of Aab Ki Bar Kisan Sarkar,” he said.

Referring to losses suffered by farmers due to untimely reasons, he said the agriculture department should sensitise the farmers to complete harvesting before the unseasonal rains.

He announced that the government will purchase all crops including maize and sorghum like in the past.

KCR said that the state government is implementing an action plan to sustain agriculture and the welfare of farmers.

He listed out the achievements made by Telangana during the last nine years. The CM claimed that investments are flooding the state.

He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh’s per capita income of Rs 2,19,518 is Rs 1,00,000 less than Telangana’s per capita income. The per capita income of 16 to 17 states is much less than this.

The state registered surprising growth in every sector like electricity, roads, paddy procurement, agriculture, livestock, fisheries.

KCR said that Telangana also tops in per capita electricity consumption.

He slammed the Maharashtra government saying it has no vision.

“Maharashtra government says that it will go bankrupt if it implements Telangana schemes. The Telangana state implemented the schemes successfully without going bankrupt,” he said and claimed that people of Maharashtra are visiting Telangana to see the progress of the state.

KCR launches 22nd formation day celebrations of BRS

0

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Thursday completed 22 years with the party president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao launching the formation day celebrations.
This is the first formation day after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) changed its name to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

KCR hoisted the BRS flag at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, to formally inaugurate the party formation day celebrations.

Accompanied by BRS general secretary K. Keshava Rao and other senior leaders, he paid floral tributes to Telangana Thalli.

KCR is also presiding over BRS general body meeting, which is expected to set the tone for Assembly elections scheduled to be held later this year.

The meeting, attended by 300 BRS leaders including ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs, will discuss and pass a few resolutions including political resolutions.

In view of the summer, BRS has decided not to hold plenary on formation day. BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao announced that a massive public meeting BRS Maha Sabha will be held at Warangal on October 10.

TRS was floated by KCR on April 27, 2001 after resigning from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to revive the movement for statehood to Telangana.

Telangana came into existence as a separate state on June 2, 2014. BRS formed the first government in the new state and retained power in 2018.

As a precursor to the formation day celebrations, meetings of party delegates were held at constituency level on April 25. These meetings were presided over by Assembly in-charges and local MLAs. Party’s district unit presidents will coordinate the programmes.

The BRS held party meetings titled Athmeeya Sammelan across the state during the last few weeks to discuss various issues including the development achieved by the state under BRS rule, welfare schemes being implemented by the state government and the programmes undertaken by the party.

On the occasion of party formation day, BRS leader K. Kavitha recalled that KCR began the journey with a handful people and went on to achieve a separate state and placed Telangana at the top position in the country during the nine-year rule.

Kavitha noted that BRS is now working for the country’s development and for farmers’ rule.

KCR’s daughter tweeted that while yesterday BRS struggled for liberation of Telangana Thalli, today it is striving for the golden future of Bharat Mata.

KCR delighted over Telangana villages bagging maximum national awards

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday expressed delight over Telangana gram panchayats receiving 13 out of the 46 national awards.

These gram panchayats received the awards for several development themes, including greenery and cleanliness, which were presented by President Droupadi Murmu in Delhi on Monday.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, said that it is a matter of pride for all that Telangana clinched the awards in eight categories out of nine theme-based sections in Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Satat Vikas awards.

“As many as 2.5 lakh village panchayats from across the country competed for these awards, out of which only 46 villages got them. Out of this, Telangana won 13 awards. It means 30 per cent of the total national awards announced have been bagged by Telangana,” said KCR as he noted that it is a great moment that the state won the first four ranks out of 13.

KCR also congratulated Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water Supply Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Commissioner Hanumantha Rao, Sarpanchs of the respective villages, MPPs, Zilla Parishad Chairmen and Panchayati Raj department officials for receiving the awards from the hands of the President during the ‘National Conference on the Promotion of Panchayats – Awards Ceremony’ held at the Vigyana Bhavan in Delhi on Monday.

The Chief Minister said that these awards are testimony to the rural development activities, including the ‘Palle Pragathi’, implemented by the state government. He said Telangana has become a role model for the country.

KCR also said that Telangana is in the top position in every aspect in the development of panchayats and will continue its efforts for the development of all rural areas across the country with the spirit of winning the highest number of awards.

Losing state party status derails BRS plans for Andhra Pradesh

1

The Election Commission’s (EC) decision to withdraw state party recognition to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Andhra Pradesh is a setback to the party which was hoping to contest next year’s elections in that state on its poll symbol ‘ambassador car’.

The party, formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), headed by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had appealed to the EC not to derecognise the party as it plans to contest the elections in the neighbouring state next year.

The party leaders say that they were not surprised by the EC’s move. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said since the BRS had not contested the elections in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, the action of the EC was a “mere technicality”.

The BRS lost the state party status in Andhra Pradesh as it did not meet the norms and conditions prescribed by the EC.

The poll panel pointed out that the BRS did not contest Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in 2019 in Andhra Pradesh. “Hence, the poll performance of the party did not match any of the criteria laid down for recognition as a state party in the state.”

The BRS leadership also did not appear before the Commission to clear the issues raised by the EC in a letter sent to the party high command. The party, however, had made a request to the EC in this regard.

In March, the BRS had requested the EC not to derecognise the party in Andhra Pradesh as it plans to contest the 2024 elections. The EC had issued a notice asking the party why it should not be derecognised in Andhra Pradesh since it had not contested the Assembly and Parliamentary elections in 2019.

It was in 2004 that the EC recognised the TRS as a regional political party in undivided Andhra Pradesh. As the 2014 elections were held a few weeks before the formal bifurcation of the state, TRS remained a registered party.

In 2018, TRS contested the Assembly elections in Telangana but did not contest the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in 2019. Hence, the EC had served the notice about the recognition status in Andhra Pradesh.

The notice was issued by the EC as part of its routine practice to periodically review the status of recognised parties based on performance in Lok Sabha or Assembly elections.

Since TRS has been recently renamed BRS and it plans to contest the next elections in Andhra Pradesh, the party leadership had urged the EC to keep its status as a recognised party in Andhra Pradesh intact. With respect to other states, it had said it will seek recognition when it gets mandatory seats and vote share.

Political analysts say the EC move is a setback for the BRS which is planning a foray into Andhra Pradesh politics by contesting Assembly elections scheduled next year.

“BRS will contest all 175 seats in the next Assembly elections as well as all 25 parliamentary constituencies, in Andhra Pradesh,” said BRS chief in Andhra Pradesh Thota Chandrasekhar.

Since the BRS is also looking to expand its footprints to Maharashtra soon by contesting the local body elections, its plans are likely to be hampered as it will not get the ‘car’ symbol. The party will have to opt for a free symbol.

It was on December 8, 2022, that the TRS officially became the BRS after the Election Commission gave its consent to the change in the name of the party taken by the TRS general body on October 5, 2022.

The party subsequently opened its national office in Delhi and appointed the party president in Andhra Pradesh.

As the party looks to expand its presence into states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Odisha with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the target, it hopes to get recognition as a national party from EC with a common election symbol.

“Since the ambassador car symbol given to us has not been allotted to any party in the country, we will request the Election Commission to recognise BRS as a national party. This will give us the flexibility to contest in multiple states,” BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao had said earlier.

However, it is still unclear if the BRS can get the common symbol to contest across states.

Party symbols are allotted only to recognised parties in accordance with the Election Symbol Reservation and Allotment Order of the ECI (Election Commission of India), 1968.

As per the EC’s guidelines, to secure recognition from the ECI as a national party, a party seeking such a status needs to have its presence in no fewer than four states with a vote share of six per cent or four seats in the Parliament representing all four states.

As per EC norms, a political party should fulfil the following conditions to be eligible for recognition as a state party in a state: Secure not less than six per cent of the votes in the last Assembly elections, win two MLA seats; Secure not less than six per cent of the vote in the state in the last Lok Sabha elections and win one Lok Sabha seat; Win at least three per cent of the total Assembly seats in the last Assembly elections; Win at least one Lok Sabha seat for every 25 members allotted to the state in the last general elections; Should secure not less than eight per cent of the votes in the last general elections held to the Lok Sabha or the Assembly in the state.

We will form government at Centre in 2024: KCR

2

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday exuded confidence of coming to power at the Centre in the next year’s elections.

“We will form the government in 2024,” he said while addressing a public meeting after unveiling 125-feet statue of Dr B. R. Ambedkar in Hyderabad.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, claimed that his BRS is receiving tremendous response in Maharashtra. “The response is beyond our expectations. Tomorrow we will get a similar response from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Bengal and everywhere,” he said.

He recalled that when he had left for Delhi in 2014, he had stated that he was leaving Andhra Pradesh and will return to Telangana. “With the same self-confidence, I am saying the next government in the country will be ours,” he said.

KCR remarked that this may look far-fetched to their rivals but it all needs a spark to bring the change.

He vowed to follow on the path shown by Babasaheb Ambedkar and fight to keep the country in line until the last drop of his blood.

KCR said after the formation of the government, the Dalit Bandhu scheme will be implemented across the country, benefiting 25 lakh Dalit families every year.

Under the scheme being implemented in Telangana, every Dalit family is being provided Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to start economic activity of its own.

He said 50,000 Dalit families in Telangana have so far benefited under the scheme while another 1.25 lakh families will be benefited during the current financial year.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will spend Rs 3 crore every year to give awards in the name of Ambedkar to those making valuable contributions in different fields at the national and state levels. He said a Rs 51 crore corpus for the award would be set aside immediately.

Stating that Ambedkar’s ideals are still relevant, the BRS chief called for efforts to fulfill his dreams.

KCR said it was unfortunate that even 70 years after the Indian Constitution came into effect, Dalits from Kashmir to Kanyakumari remained poor.

“Parties are winning. One party comes to power after another but people are not winning. This situation should change. There is a need for people, especially Dalit intellectuals to ponder over this,” he said.

The Chief Minister said Ambedkar’s tallest statue has been installed close to the Secretariat so that the Chief Minister, ministers, secretaries and other staff coming are constantly reminded of the ideals and vision of the great leader.

Claiming that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is receiving huge response in Maharashtra, party president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Wednesday that the country is waiting for the right leader and the right party.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, said the kind of response BRS is getting in Maharashtra is beyond his own expectations.

KCR was addressing a ‘Dawat-e-Iftar’ hosted by the state government at the L.B. Stadium here.

Stating that the country is passing through a difficult phase, the BRS chief said that it is a temporary phase and ultimately truth and justice will prevail.

He said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was turned into BRS to make an effort to save the country.

“The country belongs to all, and we have to save it at any cost. We will fight till the last drop of our blood but will not compromise,” KCR told the large gathering.

Calling for safeguarding the composite culture of the country, the BRS leader said, “Nobody can change our traditions and history. Those who try will go but the country will remain.”

KCR, however, stressed the need to act wisely without getting swayed by emotions.

“When I was fighting for Telangana, I knew that ‘Allah ke ghar der hai, andher nahi’,” he said.

Referring to the progress made by Telangana across sectors during the last nine years, KCR said the state has no competition.

He also said the Central government itself has revealed in the Parliament that Telangana has the highest per capita income in the country.

“Our per capita income is higher than that of bigger states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka,” he said.

KCR added that per capita power consumption in the state has doubled in nine years while farmers’ suicides have come to an end, and those who had migrated are now coming back to the state.

He pointed out that while paddy cultivation in the country is happening on 94 lakh acres, Telangana alone accounts for 56.40 lakh acres.

“There is no drinking water and power problem in the state. We are moving ahead, but the country is lagging behind. If the Centre had performed at par with Telangana, our GDP would have been higher by Rs 3-4 lakh crore,” he said.

KCR also said his government spent Rs 12,000 crore on minority welfare in nine years, while during the preceeding 10 years of Congress rule, only Rs 1,180 crore was spent.

Ministers, Muslim leaders from BRS, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, religious scholars and others attended the Iftar party.

In fight against KCR, Sharmila reaches out to BJP, Cong leaders

2

In a clear indication of her intentions to unseat the ruling BRS party in Telangana, YSR Telangana Party chief Y.S. Sharmila on Saturday reached out to both sides of the opposition spectrum in the state.

Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been on the warpath against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

On Saturday, Sharmila called up and had individual talks with state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and state Congress chief Revanth Reddy.

During her telephonic conversations with the two opposition party leaders, Sharmila sought their cooperation in fighting the unemployment problem plaguing the state.

She proposed that a concerted strategy is necessary to achieve this goal.

Sharmila also suggested that the three parties give a call for a march to Pragati Bhavan which is K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s residence.

Opposition unity is crucial to defeat KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, she told them.

“… opposition parties will not survive in Telangana if they do not unite against the BRS,” she added.

Both the Opposition party leaders have responded positively to Sharmila’s overture.

YSRTP sources said that Bandi Sanjay has assured full cooperation in the matter of unemployed youths, and agreed to meet Sharmila in the near future to discuss.

While Congress leader Revanth Reddy said that the time has come for opposition parties to join hands, he reportedly told her that a decision will be taken after due discussion within the Congress party.

Height of Modi’s arrogance, dictatorship, says KCR

2

Setting aside his political differences, Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Parliament, calling it the height of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “arrogance and dictatorship”.

“Today is black day in the history of Indian democracy.A Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from Parliament is the height of Narendra Modi’s arrogance and dictatorship,” KCR, as the leader is popularly known, said in a statement.

“It is highly reproachable that the Modi government is not only abusing constitutional institutions but also using the highest democratic platform – the Parliament for its nefarious activities,” he said.

KCR observed that it is the adverse time for democracy and the Constitutional values. “The Modi’s regime overshadowed the Emergency. Harassment of opposition leaders has become a routine. Modi on his own is collapsing by disqualifying opposition leaders to protect criminals and cheaters,” he said.

Stating that this is not the time for conflicts between parties, KCR said all democrats should openly condemn the misdeeds of the BJP government to safeguard the democracy and constitutional values in the country and must resist the BJP’s evil policies.

BRS Working President and state minister K.T. Rama Rao said disqualification of Rahul Gandhi is a blatant misinterpretation of the Constitution. “The hastiness showed in this issue is highly undemocratic I condemn this,” he tweeted.

BRS MLA K. Kavitha stated that revoking the membership of Rahul Gandhi, despite knowing that he has a chance to appeal in the upper courts, is a blot on democracy. “This is a larger part of Modi Ji’s mission of diverting people’s attention from his failures, corrupt friends & suppressing the opposition,” she said.

BRS is Bharat Rythu Samithi: KTR

0

Telangana’s cabinet minister K.T. Rama Rao on Friday described BRS as ‘Bharat Rythu Samithi’.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president said that Telangana is the only state in the country which is giving Rs 10,000 as investment support to farmers for every acre and also paying compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre for crop loss.

KTR was reacting to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s announcement that the government will give Rs 10,000 as compensation for every acre for farmers whose crops were damaged due to recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms.

The chief minister had made the announcement during a visit to the affected districts on Thursday.

KTR took to Twitter to share a photograph which shows Chief Minister KCR consoling a farmer by keeping his hands on his shoulders.

The BRS working president wrote that farmers have full faith in KCR. He also cautioned people that if by mistake they trust ‘others’, Telangana will go back by 100 years.

Assembly elections in Telangana are scheduled later this year. Both BJP and Congress are promising to provide a better alternative to the BRS.

KCR announces Rs 10,000 per acre compensation for crop losses

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday announced compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre for farmers who lost their crops due to recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms.

After a visit to affected areas in a few districts, the chief minister assured the farmers that the government will extend them all the assistance.

He made it clear that the state will not send any report on crop loss to the Centre as the Modi government had provided no help to the state in similar situations earlier.

The chief minister told media persons that the unexpected rains and hailstorms damaged crops over 2,28,255 acres across the state. This includes maize crop over 1,29,446 acres, paddy over 72,709 acres and mangoes over 8,865 acres.

KCR, who left in a helicopter from Hyderabad, first visited affected areas in Madhira constituency of Khammam district. He spoke to farmers and enquired about the crop losses they suffered. Some of the affected farmers demand a compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre.

KCR said that his government is executing irrigation projects with massive investment. Efforts are being made to expeditiously complete new projects. Stating that the state government is also implementing various schemes for the welfare of farmers, he claimed that such schemes are not being implemented anywhere in the world.

The chief minister also stated that as a result of the schemes being implemented by the state government, the agriculture sector has strengthened and farmers are coming out of debt trap. He remarked that some ignorant economists are saying that agriculture is uneconomical.

KCR also pointed out that Telangana’s per capita income is higher than that of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other states. He claimed that Telangana has established itself as an agriculture-based state.

The chief minister said under the policies of the present government at the Centre, affected farmers will get no compensation. “The policies are of no use to the farmers. The country needs a new agriculture policy,” said KCR, who is president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

ABVP stages protest near KCR’s residence over paper leak

0

Tension prevailed at Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Tuesday as ABVP markers tried to lay siege to the complex to protest over Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak.

Carrying ABVP flags and raising slogans, the protesters including women tried to move closer to the complex but were stopped by police.

There was heated argument between ABVP leaders and police personnel. As the ABVP workers continued their protest, police arrested them and shifted them to Goshamahal police station.

ABVP had last week staged a protest at TSPSC office which had turned violent. The protesters had barged into office premises and damaged the board.

Police then arrested some ABVP men who were later remanded to judicial custody.

Police had stepped up security around Pragati Bhavan in view of the planned protest by ABVP. However, some protesters took police by surprise and managed to reach near the high security premises.

The ABVP leaders demanded resignation of Information Technology minister K. T. Rama Rao over paper leak. They also demanded judicial probe into the case.

Hyderabad police last week arrested nine persons, including two employees of TSPSC, in connection with the paper leak case.

The TSPSC had conducted the examination on March 5 for 833 vacancies of Assistant Engineer, Municipal Assistant Engineer, Technical Officer, and Junior Technical Officer in various engineering departments. A total of 55,000 candidates had written the exam.

However, the Commission suspected leakage of the question paper and lodged a complaint with the police.

Following the arrest of the accused the Commission cancelled the exam and also postponed other exams scheduled to be held later this month.

Amid doubts that the accused may have leaked question papers of some other exams, the Commission on Friday decided to cancel three other exams including Group I Prelims.

Nearly 2.86 lakh aspirants of Group I posts had appeared in Group-I exam conducted on October 16, 2022.

KCR urges BRS cadres to be vigilant against ‘evil forces’

1

Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday appealed to the party cadre to be vigilant about “evil forces” and counter their false propaganda.

Exuding confidence that the BRS will score a hat-trick victory in the next Assembly elections, he said that people of Telangana will not fall prey to the cheap politics of the opposition parties.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, issued a message to the party workers. This comes amidst questioning of his daughter K. Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi excise policy case and the allegations by the opposition parties against his son and minister K.T. Rama Rao in the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) question paper leak case.

He told BRS workers that in an election year the onus is on them to remain in the midst of people and counter the false propaganda of the opposition parties and expose them.

The BRS chief said it was the responsibility of the party workers to strengthen the party further.

He lashed out at the BJP for resorting to attacks and creating obstacles for the progress of Telangana at every step. He alleged that unable to stomach the BRS’ “Ab Ki Bar Kisan Sarkar” slogan, the BJP-led government at the Centre was attacking the party on all fronts and also creating hurdles in Telangana’s progress.

KCR also referred to the struggle to achieve Telangana state. “Our party defeated many attacks and conspiracies during separate state agitation. Had we feared then, Telangana would not have been achieved,” he said.

Stating that BRS workers are the strength of the party, he said he would be indebted to party workers for ensuring the party’s grand victory in all elections from panchayats to Parliament all these years.

KCR also told the BRS cadres that for other parties politics is a game but for the BRS, it is a task. He claimed that considering politics as a sacred duty to fulfill people’s aspirations, the BRS government transformed Telangana as an index for welfare and development.

The BRS chief said that with successful execution of works and welfare programmes, the BRS government ensured that Telangana emerged as a role model for the entire country. It is now one among the five large states, which were contributing immensely to the nation’s economy, he said.

He said while Telangana achieved unbelievable development in all sectors in the last nine years, the country even after 75 years of independence was still plagued with issues like insufficient drinking water for households and irrigation purposes and electricity shortage.

The Chief Minister stated that China, Singapore, and South Korea are achieving rapid progress but unfortunately India is beset with communal hatred and lagging in development. He held Congress and BJP responsible for the poor development of the nation and alleged that both the parties lacked vision and commitment.

“To fill the void, the BRS set a new agenda for the nation and embarked on a new journey to influence national politics,” he added.
