KCR feels Jagan’s “APSRTC merger” is a drama!

0

TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly feels that Jagan’s decision to merge APSTRC with AP government was a ‘big drama’.

According to TRS official sources, KCR told few ministers and TRS leaders, who came to Pragathi Bhavan to congratulate him on the superb victory of TRS in Huzurnagar Assembly bypoll on Thursday that Jagan was only doing gimmicks on the issue of APSRTC merger and it will not materialise in the coming days.

KCR reportedly made these remarks when the issue of ongoing TSRTC strike by TSRTC unions with the main demand of merger of TSRTC with Telangana government as was done by Jagan in AP, came up for discussion in the meeting.

KCR too made ‘adverse remarks’ on Jagan’s decision in the press conference held at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday after TRS victory.

When KCR made it clear that merger of RTC with state government was not possible anywhere in the country, one journalist questioned how could Jagan do that in AP when it was not possible.

For this, KCR shot back at the reporter saying, “What Jagan did is not merger, He simply issued orders on the merger and appointed a committee. The committee has been asked to submit report on merger in the five-six months. Only god knows what this committee will tell. You all will come to know about the consequences of Jagan’s merger in the next five-six months. Nothing will happen in AP.”

His comments gave enough indications about what KCR feels about Jagan’s decision on APSRTC merger.

Nobody can save RTC from shutting down, says KCR

0

With employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) continuing their indefinite strike on 20th day on Thursday, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao said nobody can save the public transport utility from shutting down.

“The strike will end with RTC itself. Yes, it is going to happen,” he told a news conference to a query as to whether he sees an end to the strike.

“They are closing down the RTC. Nobody can save it. It is a gone case,” said Rao pointing out that the transport entity has gone bankrupt.

KCR, as Rao was popularly known, was talking to media after his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won Huzurnagar Assembly bypoll with a huge majority.

The Chief Minister, who appears to have further hardened his stand on the strike, made it clear that the RTC will not exist in its present form.

“The result of the strike is that old RTC will not be there. 1,000 per cent it will not be there,” he said.

KCR said a decision on permitting 7,000 private buses would be taken in a few days. “I can grant permits to more than 7,000 private buses to ply on the roads of Telangana, providing quality and comfortable transport to the people at lesser fares,” he said.

The Chief Minister blamed the leaders of RTC trade unions for the current situation and slammed the opposition parties for instigating them. He said trade union leaders called for strike to get votes in their union elections but they were playing with the lives of innocent employees and their families.

Over 48,000 employees of RTC are on strike since October 5 to press for their demands including the demand for the RTC’s merger with the government.

KCR termed the demand for merger as irrational and said if TSRTC was merged with the government, 57 other corporations will make similar demands.

He said RTC had no money to pay salaries to employees for September as the employees themselves cut the branch they were sitting on by going on strike. He said with economic slowdown, the government too had no money to bail out the RTC.

He claimed that the strike during festival season resulted in loss of Rs 125 crore to Rs 150 crore to RTC, which has accumulated losses of Rs 1,200 crore and outstanding loans of Rs 5,000 crore.

RTC merger a dumb demand, says KCR

0

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao made sensational comments on the TSRTC strike. He described the demand for RTC merger with the government as a dumb and ignorant one. How can it be done? KCR said that in the state, there are over 57 corporations just like the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. Would the government be able to merge all these corporations if similar demands come up?

KCR said that whoever gave this idea, the RTC employees leaders took up this dumb demand. Right now, Telangana state is also under the impact of recession which is causing serious financial strain. KCR said that at such a difficult time, his government has proposed commercial sale of prime properties of the RTC all over the state. This will not be stopped whatever be the opposition from the employees or the organisations.

KCR further said that the RTC employees’ salaries were increased by 67 per cent in over 4 years. But still they are coming out with crazy wishes again and again. Every time there is an election, it has become routine for the RTC unions to make such unreasonable demands.

KCR’s next target: Bury BJP, Congress with municipal polls in Nov first week!

0

Buoyed by the bumper majority with which TRS is going to grab the Huzunagar seat from Congress today going by counting trends, TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to waste no time to conduct municipal polls in Telangana and bury Congress and BJP so deep in Telangana that they would not recover before the crucial 2023 Assembly polls.

The Huzurnagar result will certainly push Congress and BJP into the corner ahead of municipal polls.

The confidence levels of Congress and BJP have hit very low today with Huzurnagar bypoll result.

KCR does not want to give any opportunity for Congress and BJP to recover from this shocker and has decided to hold municipal polls in Telangana in the first week of November itself.

This would mean that there would be hardly 15 days time left for municipal polls.

Congress and BJP which are in deep shock with Huzurnagar result will not be able to find even right candidates to take on TRS within this short period.

The TRS which got a big booster with Huzurnagar bumper victory wants to exploit this situation to its advantage and finish off municipal polls even before Congress and BJP could take a breath.

KCR has already finalised the list of TRS candidates for municipal polls.

KCR strongly feels that Congress and BJP will be completely buried in Telangana once TRS sweeps municipal polls and would not be able to recover before 2023 Assembly polls.

KCR directed officials to make arrangments to conduct municipal polls in Telangana in the first week of November.

With this election, all elections will be finished in Telangana and there would be no elections in Telangana till 2023 Assembly polls barring elections for GHMC, Khammam municipal corporation.

KCR wants to focus completely on the administration for the next four years without any need to fear about elections or model code of conduct and put TRS in even stronger position before 2023 Assembly polls.

KCR targets ‘Reddy police’ in Revanth’s Pragathi Bhavan fiasco!

0

TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar is suspecting “Reddy caste angle” in Congress leader Revanth Reddy breaking strong police cordon and reaching his camp office as part of Congress agitation programme to lay siege to CM’s official residence Pragathi Bhavan on Monday.

Grapevine has it that a senior police officer hailing from Reddy community helped Revanth Reddy with a ‘caste feeling’ to reach Pragathi Bhavan, which KCR built it as a fortress with unprecedented security cover from all sides.

Huge police force was deployed at Revanth’s house from Sunday night itself to prevent him from coming outside his house on Monday to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan.

Despite this, Revanth gave a miss to the police at his house and reached Pragathi Bhavan by bike.

KCR strongly feels that Revanth coming out of his house and reach Pragathi Bhavan was not possible even in the wildest of the dreams unless police support him.

KCR took this issue seriously and investigated from all angles with the help of senior police staff and intelligence departments.

Finally, he came to the conclusion that police with “Reddy caste feeling’ helped Revanth Reddy to do this daring act of touching Pragathi Bhavan.

KCR today (Wednesday) issued orders sacking Asifnagar ACP Nandyala Narasimha Reddy.

Narasimha Reddy was posted at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday to ensure that no one breaks the police cordon and tight security there.

He was not given any posting and attached to DGP Office without posting till further orders.

Jubilee Hills SI Naveen Reddy has been directed to lodge a complaint against Revanth Reddy for attacking police posted at his residence and fled away from the house.

Following his complaints, police booked Revanth and three of his followers under Sections 351, 353 and 332.

RTC JAC counters KCR on merger demand

0

The ongoing RTC workers’ agitation is taking new twists and turns each passing day. The employees’ JAC expressed surprise at CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s statements on their alleged withdrawal of the demand for RTC merger with the government of Telangana. JAC Convenor Aswathama Reddy issued a fresh counter to TRS boss saying that the employees unions have never given up their merger demand. In fact, it is the main demand that came to the fore after the Andhra RTC was merged with the Government of Andhra Pradesh a few weeks ago.

Aswathama Reddy clarified that neither the JAC leaders nor their advocates spoke of withdrawing the merger demand before the High Court. But somehow rumours came out that the employees relented on this. Aswathama Reddy said that the JAC would face any punishment if anybody proved that they surrendered the merger demand. He deplored that the KCR Circar has not yet invited the JAC for talks despite the latest court orders. The government is just dragging the issue by forming useless committees with EDs and other officials.

KCR supports Jagan to get exemption from personal court appearance!

0

AP Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao are displaying ‘unusual bonhomie’ after KCR became CM for second term in December 2018 and prior to AP Assembly polls in May 2019.

Their ‘bonding’ became even more stronger after Jagan became CM in May 2019.

They already met over a half a dozen times within three months of Jagan coming to power. They had lunch together at their residences in Hyderabad and Amaravathi.

Despite Jagan winning with historic majority in Assembly polls and becoming CM of AP, the CBI cases continue to haunt him due to which he continues to spend sleepless nights.

Jagan is not in a position to enjoy his term as CM due to CBI cases which are haunting him.

Jagan, who is currently on bail, is worried that he will be sent back to Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad, once his bail is cancelled.

Jagan is doing everything to get away from CBI cases at least till he completes his five year term as CM.

Jagan is required to attend CBI court in Nampally, Hyderabad every week to face trial in disproportionate assets cases, in which he is A-1 (Accused No. 1).

After becoming CM, Jagan is avoiding court under one pretext or the other.

Recently, Jagan filed a petition in CBI court seeking permanent exemption from personal court appearance on the ground that AP government will have to spend Rs 60 lakh everytime for his travel and security if he visits Hyderabad every week.

But the court is yet to give judgement on his petition.

In the meantime, Jagan is learnt to be seeking the help of his ‘close friend’ KCR, to get exemption.

KCR, who too is keen to help his friend Jagan, is planning to implead in the case.

The strategy is that Telangana police will file a petition in the CBI court expressing concern over providing security to Jagan every week if he attends court.

This is because the roads leading to Nampally CBI courts are very narrow and face severe traffic issues every day.

Besides, the Namapally courts complex with different courts in it witnesses huge rush of people and criminals involved in or related with serious cases of terrorism, murders, thefts, rapes etc.

The Telangana police want to tell court that it would be difficult for them to provide security to neighbouring state CM every week in a sensitive area like Nampally, which comes under Old City.

Jagan is hopeful that CBI court may grant him exemption from personal court appearance at least on ‘security concerns’ expressed by Telangana police, if not for his petition on wastage of public money.

Huzurnagar by-poll: TRS, Congress locked in neck-and-neck fight

0

It’s likely to be neck-and-neck fight in Monday’s bye-election to Huzurnagar Assembly constituency, with ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) keen to wrest it from Congress while the opposition party is determined to continue its winning streak.

TRS and Congress candidates are locked in a direct fight though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidates are also hoping to pull it off.

First bypolls since Lok Sabha polls, it is expected to be an acid test for the ruling party as it is being held amid the ongoing indefinite strike by employees of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which has brought the opposition parties and other anti-TRS forces together.

Little over 2.36 lakh voters, nearly half of them women, will decide the political fortunes of 28 candidates including 15 Independents.

Authorities have set up 302 polling centres in the constituency located in Suryapet district, once considered a Congress stronghold.

Huzurnagar came into existence as a result of delimitation of constituencies in 2009. Congress party’s N. Uttam Kumar Reddy won the seat in successive elections in 2009, 2014 and 2018.

Following his election to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda constituency, Uttam Kumar Reddy resigned from Assembly, necessitating the by-election for Huzurnagar. Congress has fielded his wife Padmavati Reddy in the by-election.

As Uttam Kumar Reddy is also the president of Congress party’s state unit, the bypoll is a prestige battle for him. Leading the party campaign, he sought votes on the basis of development works undertaken by him in the constituency during last decade.

TRS, on the other hand, is determined to wrest the seat from Congress. It has once again fielded Saidi Reddy, who lost to Uttam Kumar Reddy in December 2018 elections by a margin of 7,466 votes.

The Congress party then had alliance with TDP, Communist Party of India (CPI) and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS). This time it is going alone, enjoying the support of only TJS.

TDP, which had stayed away from Lok Sabha polls in Telangana, choose to field its candidate in the bye-election to send a message that it is alive in the state.

Huzurnagar is one of the segments of Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat and in the Lok Sabha elections held in April, Congress had increased its majority to 12,993 votes.

The low-key campaign saw the ruling party urging people to vote for the development and the welfare schemes implemented in the state during last six years.

After retaining power in December 2018 with a landslide victory, TRS suffered setback in Lok Sabha polls with BJP winning four and Congress three seats to deny it a clean sweep.

However, the ruling party staged a comeback to score massive victory in rural local body polls in June. It is confident of continuing the victory march.

The TRS had to face some anxious moments in the campaign due to the strike by TSRTC employees, which entered its 16th day on Sunday. The strike brought together all opposition parties and those groups who have been opposing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. The state-wide shutdown called by the striking employees on Saturday was support by all anti-TRS forces.

The ongoing strike’s tough handling by the government also had its impact on TRS as Communist Party of India (CPI) withdrew its support to the ruling party.

CPI, which fought Assembly elections in alliance with Congress, surprised all by declaring support to TRS earlier this month. However, the party reversed its decision within 15 days to protest the government’s move to sack 48,000 striking employees of TSRTC.

TRS campaign also suffered set back as the Chief Minister and TRS president’s only election rally was cancelled due to rains. His son K.T. Rama Rao, who is a cabinet minister and working president of the party, conducted road show. Another minister Jagdish Reddy, who comes from the same district, ran the party campaign along with other leaders.

TRS leaders see good prospects for their candidate as they believe both BJP and TDP will cut into anti-TRS votes.

Political analysts say the bye-election is crucial for Congress as a victory in Huzurnagar could give it a moral boost against TRS, which not only lured 12 Congress MLAs to its ranks but also got them merged with the ruling party. Leaving with just six seats in 119-member Assembly, Congress lost the status of main opposition party.

A victory in Huzurnagar may help Congress to put pressure on the defectors to quit and seek fresh election.

KCR attitude blamed for death of one more RTC driver

0

Sheikh Qaja Mia, a Telangana RTC driver, suddenly collapsed and died unable to take the stress because of the ongoing crisis in the TSRTC strike. He has not received his salary. He was under tremendous strain of losing his job because of the adamant attitude of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. His family members said that it was because of the Telangana government that Qaja Mia does eventually of heart attack.

Qaja Mia has been working at the Sattupalli RTC depot for many years. He came to his Jaggaiahpet house in nearby Krishna district in view of the ongoing Telangana agitation. He was repeatedly talking to his family members about the hopeless situation that the Telangana RTC is being pushed. He was expressing great anguish at the oppressive mindset of the KCR Circar.

The RTC JAC expressed anguish and shock over the sudden death of Quaja Mia. They demanded that the KCR Regime realise its folly and start talks with the JAC to resolve the problems of the employees immediately.

Jagan, KCR may be ‘fixed’ in Megha I-T raids!

0

The raids by Income Tax Department on Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd (MEIL) for the past one week are learnt to be sending shivers down the spine of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao.

This is because both Jagan and KCR are showing ‘unusual love’ for Megha Krishna Reddy, the owner of MEIL, by awarding him government contracts worth thousands of crores of rupees in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

During the raids, the I-T sleuths have recovered evidence of large scale bogus expenses, over-invoicing of purchase and sub-contract expenses.

The company also indulged in out of books transactions and manipulation of books to suppress its taxable profits.

The major cause of worry for Jagan and KCR is that I-T department issuing an official press release on these raids saying that, “Evidence of illegal payments through hawala channels running into hundreds of crores of rupees have also been found and seized.”

This statement by I-T raises suspicion towards Jagan and KCR as Megha Krishna Reddy is facing allegations of funding YSRCP and TRS in Assembly polls recently and helped YSRCP and TRS coming to power in AP and Telangana respectively.

There are allegations that Jagan and KCR distributed crores of rupees to each candidate to win the elections by hook or by crook and these funds were channelled through ‘hawala route’.

It’s an open secret that KCR funded YSRCP in recent Assembly polls to beat his arch-rival Chandrababu Naidu in AP and these funds were channelled through hawala.

The BJP-led government at the Centre which is waiting for the right opportunity to strike a blow to YSRCP and TRS in Telugu States and come to power in Telugu States in the next Assembly polls in 2023 and 2024 respectively is understood to be watching the I-T raids keenly on how to utilise these raids to fix Jagan and KCR in the coming days.

BJP master plan: Topple KCR Govt in New Year 2020!

0

Is BJP government at the Centre attempting to topple one-year old TRS government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao in Telangana in the New Year 2020?

The moves being made by BJP’s central leadership for the past few months are leading to suspicion about the ‘actual intentions’ of BJP.

The appointment of Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan as new Governor of Telangana in September replacing ESL Narasimhan is understood to be part of BJP’s master plan to destabilise and topple KCR’s government.

Tamilisai who remained calm in the first month as Governor in September started playing ‘active role’ in the second month now by intervening in the issues concerning the state government directly.

On Thursday, she summoned transport minister Puvvada Ajay to Raj Bhavan to brief her on TSRTC strike and progress of talks with RTC unions.

She also called for an emergency meeting of vice chancellors of seven universities in Telangana at Raj Bhavan and expressed anger at the way VCs were working in a negligent manner.

She directed VCs to put pressure on state government to secure matching grant for RUSA funds sanctioned by the Centre.

The governor is slowly trying to take control of the state administration and project KCR’s government in poor light and establish it as an ‘inefficient government’.

It is learnt that the governor will become ‘hyper active’ in the next two-three months and pose serious challenges and troubles for the KCR government politically and on administration front.

PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah are reportedly are of the firm belief that the time is right to topple TRS government, which became weak due to internal feud among ministers, TRS MPs, MLAs and KCR losing support of students, employees and all other sections in Telangana due to his ‘dictatorial attitude’.

They feel that no one in Telangana will oppose dismissal of TRS government and come to the streets demanding restoration of KCR as CM as he lost the support and sympathy of all sections in Telangana with his arrogance.

The BJP central leadership feels that TRS will lose upcoming Huzurnagar Assembly bypoll which will weaken KCR and TRS further and expects the TRS government to face severe anti-incumbency in the next two-three months in New Year 2020.

The BJP is waiting for an appropriate time in 2020 to topple TRS government by engineering a split in TRS with disgruntled ministers, TRS MLAs and MPs.

It remains to be seen how BJP’s master plan will unfold in Telangana in the coming days.

KCR’s election rally in Huzurnagar cancelled

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s election rally in Huzurnagar Assembly constituency was cancelled on Thursday due to rains, officials said.

According to Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the meeting was cancelled in view of the adverse weather conditions and heavy rains accompanied by lightning and storms in Huzurnagar.

The aviation authorities had also not given clearance for the chief minister’s helicopter to take off from Hyderabad.

This comes as a setback to ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) campaign for the by-election scheduled on October 21. The party cadres were waiting for TRS chief’s first election rally in the constituency.

The rally was also considered significant in view of the ongoing strike by the employees of state-owned Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which is being supported by all political parties.

The police had made massive security arrangements at the rally venue to prevent any untoward incident.

After cancellation of the rally, it was immediately not clear if KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, will campaign or not.

The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy from the Assembly following his election to Lok Sabha from Nalgonda constituency in the recent polls.

The by-election is likely to be a direct fight between Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife and Congress candidate Padmavathi Reddy and TRS nominee Saidi Reddy.

Communist Party of India (CPI), which had earlier declared its support to TRS, withdrew the same two days ago to protest the government’s tough stand over the strike by TSRTC employees.

KCR no more happy with Jagan!

0

The political grapevine in TRS circles has it that Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao is no longer happy with his AP counterpart YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

This is because KCR strongly feels that the ongoing TSRTC strike due to which KCR and his TRS government are coming under severe attack from all quarters, is the fallout of YS Jagan’s decision to merge APSRTC with AP government.

KCR and Jagan displayed unusual ‘bonhomie’ prior to recent AP Assembly polls and after.

It’s an open secret that KCR extended ‘all kinds of help’ to Jagan to win Assembly elections and beat his arch rival N Chandrababu Naidu in AP.

After winning AP polls, Jagan as CM has been repaying his ‘debt’ to KCR.

Jagan left all assets located in common capital Hyderabad to KCR without insisting on any compensation to AP due to which AP suffered huge financial losses.

Jagan is now getting ready to even construct common irrigation projects with Telagnana to share Godavari and Krishna water without realising the cunning nature of KCR, who is famous for ditching everyone after his purpose serves.

However, all this ‘friendship’ seem to be now coming to an end with KCR reportedly angry at Jagan for ignoring his advice not to merge APSRTC with AP government.

As feared by KCR, the merger decision taken by Jagan in AP fuelled similar demand in Telangana with TSRTC union demanding merger with TS government.

When KCR said ‘no’, the TSRTC staff went on indefinite strike from October 5.

The strike intensified to such an extent that KCR now fears that Centre may dismiss his government any time citing ‘law and order issues’ in Telangana with TSRTC employees committing suicides and resorting to violent incidents across the state to press their demand.

KCR believes that all these consequences are because of Jagan, who took ‘hasty decision’ to merge APSRTC ignoring his advice as well as of experts in AP.

KCR is reportedly criticising Jagan terming him as ‘childish’ and ‘inexperienced’ in all the review meetings being held with ministers and officials on TSRTC strike for the past two weeks.

Telangana RTC employees give KCR a taste of his own medicine

0

Suicides, shutdowns, ‘Vanta varpu’ or cooking on roads and ‘Dhoom Dham’ or the cultural programme were all part of the movement for statehood to Telangana. With the employees of state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) using the same tactics for their ongoing strike, history appears to be repeating itself in Telangana.

K. Chandrashekhar Rao, under whose leadership the Telangana movement used all these tools as part of the strategy, is now at the receiving end.

Over 48,000 employees of RTC along with their family members on Sunday participated in ‘Vanta varpu’. They cooked the food and ate it by the roadside. The scenes were reminiscent of the Telangana agitation between 2009 and 2013.

The same day a RTC driver set himself ablaze in Khammam as he was depressed over the chief minister sacking all the striking employees. The next day a conductor hanged himself in Hyderabad as he, like all other striking employees, had not received the salary for September and a cheque he had issued towards his EMI for home loan had bounced.

At least three other employees tried to commit suicide, giving a serious turn to the strike that began on October 5.

The decision of Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising RTC employee unions, to launch indefinite strike was the first major challenge to KCR in six years. They had a list of 26 demands, the main being RTC’s merger with the government.

Acting tough, KCR issued an ultimatum to workers to return to work by 6 p.m. on October 5 but only a few did. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) boss did not like the open defiance, saying trade unions which went on strike under previous governments can’t dare to use the same weapon against his government.

He hit back by declaring that only 1,200 employees remained in RTC. For him, all other employees stood self-dismissed for not joining the duty before the expiry of the deadline.

“His stern warning was ridiculed as no one returned to work. In fact his statement that there are only 1,200 in RTC proved grand success of the strike,” political analyst Telakapalli Ravi told IANS.

Often criticized by his opponents for dictatorial attitude, KCR ruled out taking back the striking employees and announced that no talks will be held with them. Further angering the striking employees, he unveiled plans to recruit temporary drivers and other employees and use more private buses. He directed the police chief to deal firmly with any attempt to disrupt the bus services being operated by RTC with the help of temporary staff.

The analyst says KCR stood exposed for his double standards on strike. “His stand on strikes was different earlier. He changed the stand as it suits him. He also proved his eagerness to privatise RTC,” said Ravi.

By not paying September salaries to employees, especially during the festival time, KCR invited more criticism from the employees and the opposition who called him ‘arrogant’.

The occasion provided an opportunity to all his rivals including those who were with him during Telangana movement to come on a common platform. This was something never witnessed since formation of Telangana.

Student groups too joined the protest in support of the striking employees to corner KCR. Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) leader M. Kodandaram, who was with KCR during Telangana movement, also called for another ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ or the mass strike which had lasted for six weeks in 2011 mounting pressure on the Centre.

Sensing that government employees could also join hands with RTC employees, the chief minister adopted ‘divide and rule’ policy by inviting the leaders of the government employees and promising to address their pending issues including pay revision.

The daily protests by striking RTC employees had started rattling the TRS. The party leaders were also worried over the impact this could have on the party’s prospects in October 21 by-election to Huzurnagar Assembly seat.

With the situation turning grim following suicide of two employees, KCR showed signs of softening his stand. Through his trusted aide and advisor K. Keshav Rao, he sent the feelers to the striking employees that the government is ready for talks.

“From refusing to take back the striking employees to now urging them to call off the strike and come forward for talks, it is a big climb-down by KCR,” said a political analyst.

With JAC too showing readiness to accept Keshav Rao’s mediation, this may be construed as a victory of the striking employees, irrespective of the outcome of talks.

Analysts say the strike by RTC employees broke the myth that no one can challenge KCR. “There is no doubt that KCR stands his authority challenged as never before. He may not be Ivan the Terrible anymore,” said Ravi, who believes that other employees in the state may take a cue from their counterparts in RTC.

Ravi also believes that the strike has given the opposition much need shot in the arm. Major opposition parties may now try to assert themselves and this could begin with Huzurnagar bypoll.

KCR shall be put in Andaman Jail: Revanth Reddy

0

CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared RTC employees as self-dismissed just for not attending to duties for two days. But what action KCR should take against himself for not coming to Secretariat for the last five years? No doubt, KCR deserves cases to be filed under the Preventive Detention Act and he shall be put in the Andaman Jail, said Congress firebrand MP Revanth Reddy.

At the height of Telangana agitation, Chandrasekhar Rao promised to pay salaries to the RTC Employees on a with those of the Central Government. But now, the CM has totally changed his stand and badly targeting the employees.

Revanth Reddy accused KCR of using all unhealthy methods to suppress the RTC agitation. He further said that if this agitation fails now, there is every danger that no voice can be heard in future to protect the people’s rights. No voice will be there in the entire Telangana to question the undemocratic rule of KCR. Revanth appealed to the employees leaders to realise the danger to Telangana society and jointly fight against KCR Regime.

Amit Shah asked KCR to step down, make KTR CM!

0

ABN-Andhra Jyothy managing director Vemuri Radhakrishna created a sensation by ‘revealing’ the details of the closed-door meeting held between BJP national president Amit Shah and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

KCR visited Delhi recently to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah.

Interestingly, Radhakrishna also met Amit Shah a week after KCR’s meeting.

Though, Radhakrishna did not divulge any details on why he met Amit Shah then, Radhakrishna revealed what transpired between him and Amit Shah through his weekly column “Kotha Paluku” published in ABN-Andhra Jyothy today (Sunday).

In his column, Radhakrishna claimed that KCR went to Delhi to request Modi and Amit Shah not to trouble him ‘politically’ in Telangana.

Radhakrishna said there was no positive response to KCR from the both.

Quoting ‘reliable sources’, Radhakrishna revealed that Amit Shah expressed ire at KCR and asked him to step down saying that KCR is no longer capable to rule Telangana.

According to Radhakrishna, Amit Shah even advised KCR to make his son KTR as Chief Minister of Telangana.

Radhakrishna’s comments created a sensation in political circles as he has written the column after meeting Amit Shah.

It remains to be seen how TRS leaders would react to Radhakrishna’s revealations.

KCR-Jagan avoiding Centre’s apex council meet

0

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat has asked AP Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy and Telangana CM Chandrasekhara Rao to attend apex council meeting on river water issues. The apex council was formed to iron out differences between AP and Telangana on sharing of the Krishna river waters after reorganisation. The first council meeting was attended by KCR and Chandrababu Naidu in 2016.

But now, KCR is unwilling to involve the Centre in the water issues any more. He has already intimated to the Union Jal Shakti Ministry that the Telugu states have no disputes to be resolved any more. This is why there is no need for any further meeting of the apex council.

But Andhra officials say that many Telangana irrigation projects have no approval of the apex council till now. If KCR is allowed to get the meeting cancelled, it will cause harm to Andhra. It is not yet known what Jagan has decided to do.

KCR’s ego costs Telangana students!

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s attempts to satisfy his ‘ego’ on TSRTC strike are costing students in Telangana state dearly. Instead of making attempts to resolve the strike, KCR has been only taking hasty decisions day in and day out to complicate the RTC strike issue further.

In yet another such a decision taken today, KCR has decided to extend the Dasara vacation for schools in Telangana to October 19 citing TSRTC strike. After KCR became CM, Telangana schools are already forced to give 16-day vacation for Dasara. Schools are observing Dasara vacation since September 28.

With the extension by one more week, the total holidays for Dasara have increased to 23, which is almost equal to a month. Schools, students and parents doubt is this a Dasara vacation or summer vacation.

On Saturday, KCR issued orders to officials to ensure 100 per cent RTC buses ply on roads within three days. If KCR is so confident of ensuring 100 per cent buses in three days, why did he extend Dasara vacation for schools by a week.

This shows KCR is only faking on TSRTC strike. It’s common for KCR to make tall claims and fix unrealistic deadlines. Now TSRTC strike deadlines have also fallen under this category.

Telangana students are losing valuable working days to satisfy KCR’s ‘ego’.

Telangana extends holidays for schools in view of RTC strike

0

The government of Telangana on Saturday extended till October 19 Dasara holidays for the educational institutions in view of the ongoing indefinite strike by the employees of state-run Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC).

All the government-run and private schools were to open on Monday after 15-day long Dasara and Bathukamma holidays.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao announced on Saturday that the holidays were being extended to avoid any inconvenience to the students due to the strike.

At a review meeting with ministers and top officials, he said the second Saturday should be declared working day for schools and if necessary classes should be run on other holidays to cope up with the syllabus.

The announcement came even as the striking employees decided to intensify the protest and called for state-wide shutdown on October 19.

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, directed officials to operate 100 per cent RTC buses in next three days.

He said the government would deal firmly with any attempt to create disturbances at the bus depots and bus stations. He said the government would not bow to threats and asked Director General of Police Mahender Reddy to beef up security at bus stations and bus depots.

He reiterated that the ongoing strike is illegal and the government will not hold talks with those on strike under any circumstances.

He once again made it clear that there is no question of taking back the employees who dismissed themselves by not joining the duties.

KCR directed that those not participating in the strike and attending their duties be paid salary for the month of September.

The Chief Minister wanted officials to recruit employees to operate 50 per cent RTC buses. Another 30 per cent buses will be run on hired basis while stage carriage route permits will be issued to 20 per cent private buses.

He asked officials to utilize the services of retired RTC and police drivers to restore normal operations in RTC.

Slamming the union leaders he said they acted irresponsibly and blamed them for 48,000 employees losing their jobs.

He said there was no question of pardoning those who went on strike during festival and caused losses to RTC.

KCR lashed out at the opposition parties for backing the strike to derive political mileage. He said the opposition would not succeed in their design as they lacked people’s support. Targeting the BJP, he said its leaders in Telangana were raising a hue and cry but their own government at the Centre is privatizing Indian Railways and Airlines and resorting to disinvestment from public sector companies.

KCR urges Telangana workers in Gulf to return home

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will visit Gulf soon to urge people from Telangana to come back to the State and take up jobs in infrastructure sector.

The chief minister on Saturday said he would soon visit Gulf countries to give a call to people from the state to return home.

“People from the Telangana State have migrated to the Gulf countries to earn money to look after their families and are facing a lot of hardships. Since there are ample opportunities back home, they should return,” Rao was quoted as saying in a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, was addressing a review meeting with top officials on Saturday.

“People from united Karimnagar, Nizamabad and other districts have migrated to the Gulf in search of employment to support their families back home. They are eking out a livelihood by doing some odd jobs. By doing these jobs they are getting meagre wages,” he said.

Claiming that the situation in Telangana has changed, he said that there are ample opportunities here. “Several construction projects are happening in Hyderabad. Since there is no availability of the workforce here, workers are mobilized from other places in the country. People from other states are coming here for work. There should be a change in this scenario,” he said.

KCR said the government wants that Telangana people working in the Gulf should come back and assured to provide them training at National Academy of Construction (NAC).

“The government has decided to provide work to them in the infrastructure sector after having talks with the builders and real estate businessmen. I am going there to personally explain this,” he said.

A delegation comprising Government’s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary S. K. Joshi, CMO Principal secretary S. Narsing Rao, General Administration Department Principal Secretary Adhar Sinha will visit Kerala to study the NRI policy there.

The CM will also hold a meeting with the MLAs from whose constituencies a large number of people migrated to the Gulf.
