Vishnu Manchu clarifies about MAA Building

1

After Vishnu Manchu took up the oath as the new President of MAA, he promised that he would construct a building for MAA. Right before the election, he said that he zeroed in two lands for the construction of MAA Building. Vishnu Manchu’s meeting with AP CM raises eyebrows

1

Actor and Movie Artists Association (MAA) president Manchu Vishnu, who had recently met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has finally spoken up on their interactions on the issues being raised by the Tollywood film fraternity.

“I share a great rapport with Jagan Anna (brother). He is my wife Vinni’s closest cousin. I can meet him anytime, so I don’t know why this meeting has made it to the headlines,” Manchu Vishnu said.

The cold war between him and Chiranjeevi, his MAA rival, came to the forefront when the latter led a Tollywood delegation to meet the chief minister not long ago. Vishnu was upset that his father, the senior actor Mohan Babu, was not given a proper invitation for the meeting.

Chiranjeevi was accompanied by Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, S.S, Rajamouli, and others during the meeting with the chief minister on the issues agitating the industry. The Manchus were obviously upset because, despite his seniority in the industry, Mohan Babu wasn’t invited to the meeting.

Vishnu met the chief minister days after Chiranjeevi’s meeting, which led to renewed talk about the rivalry between the two.

The opposing camp has been pointing out that although Vishnu was elected MAA president in a contentious vote some months back, he had not taken any stand on the ticket pricing issue, which has been agitating Tollywood for quite a long time. Vishnu’s meeting with the chief minister has therefore assumed significance in the eyes of MAA watchers.

MAA president Vishnu maintains strategic silence over issue of ticket prices

0

The Telugu film industry is facing problems regarding the cinema ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh.

While a leading production house like DVV Entertainments came out openly on the ticket price issue in Andhra Pradesh, there is no reaction from any biggies of Tollywood.

The Andhra Pradesh government has come up with slashing of ticket prices, which has become hit the pandemic-hit Industry, which is suffering heavy losses already. Though stars like Pawan Kalyan came forward to address the issues, it only caused more damage, as the issue was ignored by the industry biggies.

Movie Artists Association’s president Manchu Vishnu, who promised to resolve all the issues, has kept mum on the ticket price issues. While the Manchus made much noise during MAA elections, their strategic silence regarding such a big problem has irked many of the industry heads.

Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had issued a note that they do not have any issues regarding the prices of movie tickets, earlier when Pawan had raised his voice against the government.

Now that biggies like ‘RRR’, ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘Bheemla Nayak’, and ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ are prepping up to hit the screens, the industry is slowly coming to grips with the problems.

The ticket pricing issue has become a headache for traders, theatre owners, distributors and producers, which needs an immediate resolution.

MAA president Manchu Vishnu’s overenthusiastic tweet goes viral

0

Manchu Vishnu, who was elected president of the influential Tollywood industry body, Movie Artists Association (MAA) last Sunday, posted a video on his Twitter timeline showing him with the superstar and Jana Sena Party supremo, Pawan Kalyan, at Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya’s Alai Balai event here.

The highlight of the event was Pawan Kalyan’s speech, but it is Manchu Vishnu’s video that has gone viral. The video features Pawan Kalyan, sitting on a chair, which Vishnu captioned, “Can you guess who’s at the end of the video?”

Vishnu’s tweet has become a point of discussion among Pawan Kalyan’s fans. Earlier, Vishnu’s brother, Manchu Manoj, had visited the location of the shoot for Pawan Kalyan’s forthcoming movie ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and shared pictures from there.

While the Manchus seem to be trying hard to convey something, their actions are in contrast to their speeches, which has become a controversy. It is to be noted that, MAA elections had the Manchu family speak about Chiranjeevi, his brother Pawan Kalyan, and actor Ram Charan.

Manchu Vishnu was seen blaming Ram Charan for ‘probably’ not voting for him in MAA elections. They also had spoken about Chiranjeevi and his brother Pawan Kalyan, who supported Prakash Raj in the elections, instead of supporting Vishnu who stood for the presidential elections of MAA.

But, Mohan Babu, Manoj, and Vishnu greeted Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan well on the polling day. This contradiction during the speeches and when people come face-to-face has invited unwanted negativity for the Manchu family.

Will Bandi Sanjay’s comment on MAA affect Jana Sena-BJP relations?

0

Will BJP Telangana chief Bandi Sanjay’s uncalled for jubilation over Prakash Raj’s defeat in MAA’s election be a big turning point in the BJP-Jana Sena relations? Will this signal a change in the attitude of the Jana Sena towards the BJP in Andhra Pradesh? Sources in the know say ‘yes’.

It is no secret that the BJP-RSS-VHP combine was dead opposed to Prakash Raj for his anti-Hindu and anti-Modi comments. It tried all it could to ensure his defeat in the MAA elections. BJP sympathisers like CVL Narasimha Rao, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Karate Kalyani have called Prakash Raj names and said he should be defeated at all costs. The RSS and the BJP leaders also pulled the strings and ensured Prakash Raj’s defeat. Even Prakash Raj acknowledged the role played by the Hindutva forces in his defeat.

However, Prakash Raj is the candidate of the Mega family. While Chiru has a soft corner for the BJP, Nagababu is pronouncedly pro-Hindu. More importantly, Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena has an alliance with the BJP in AP. The BJP opposed Prakash Raj despite Pawan Kalyan backing him. While there is a political alliance in Andhra Pradesh, in Telangana, the BJP did not only not honour the alliance and openly attacked Prakash Raj, but also called all those supporting him as traitors. After the Mega family backed alliance was defeated fair and square, the BJP rejoiced and Sanjay had even tweeted his happiness.

Now will these comments have their effect on the BJP-Jana Sena relations in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh? Will Jana Sena decide against continuing with the alliance with the BJP? Will this immediately affect the Badvel bypoll, where Jana Sena has promised to campaign for the BJP candidate? Sources say that all will not be well between the two parties especially after Sanjay called all those supporting Prakash Raj as traitors.

Prakash Raj submits his resignation for MAA

After losing in the MAA Elections, Prakash Raj interacted with the press and announced that he will submit his resignation for the membership of MAA. He said that he is associated with MAA from the past 21 years and he will continue to do films in Telugu. He said that he was called a non-local by various actors and Prakash Raj revealed that he would respect their views. He said that he is not in a mood to continue with MAA after being called a non-local. He questioned if he will not be allowed to do films if he has no membership for MAA.

Prakash Raj is badly hurt with the result of MAA. Manchu Vishnu won on Prakash Raj with a majority of over 100 votes. The veteran actor has been doing films in all the Indian languages and he is one of the highest-paid character actors.

Leading lights of Tollywood cast votes in closely fought MAA elections

Megastar Chiranjeevi as well as leading actors Pawan Kalyan, Balakrishna and Nagarjuna were among the notable Tollywood personalities who cast their votes on Sunday to elect new office-bearers of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), the apex body of the Telugu film industry.

Murali Mohan, Mohan Babu, Jaya Prada, Rajendra Prasad, Roja, Babu Mohan, Naga Babu and other leading lights of the industry also participated in the vote. Polling, which began at 8 a.m. at the Jubilee Hills Public School, was progressing smoothly.

It was to end at 2 p.m., but was extended by an hour by the election officer, Krishna Mohan. Till 1.30 p.m., 56 per cent of the voters had cast their ballots. Out of the 925 MAA members, 883 are eligible to vote. Of them, 503 had cast their ballots.

The counting of votes will be taken up at 4 p.m. and is likely to continue till 8 p.m., when the results are slated to be declared.

MAA members were voting to elect a 26-member executive comprising the president, general secretary, two joint secretaries, treasurer, and 18 committee members.

Retired employees of the Telangana Cooperative Society made elaborate arrangements for the polling in adherence with Covid-19 protocols. As many as 50 policemen and women were deployed as part of the security measures.

After a bitter campaign between the panels led by acclaimed actor Prakash Raj and actor-producer Manchu Vishnu, scenes of camaraderie were witnessed on the polling day. The two contenders battling for the post of MAA president shook hands and embraced each other to declare that they are all one.

Prakash Raj also shook hands with Mohan Babu, who’s also Vishnu’s father, and took his blessings. Mohan Babu had arrived early at the polling booth to bless his son and claimed that the panel enjoyed support of majority of voters.

Megastar and MAA founding president Chiranjeevi said he had cast his vote as per his conscience. He said that whenever the MAA elections were held, the same acrimony was witnessed and called for putting an end to it.

Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan was one of the first to cast his votes. Talking to reporters, the Jana Sena president declined to name the panel he votes for saying this would amount to influencing voters. He said MAA elections would have no bearing on the friendship between his brother Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu. Pawan said the film industry will not split due to MAA polls.

Chiranjeevi’s brother Naga Babu told reporters that he cast his vote for the Prakash Raj panel. Leading actor Balakrishna said after casting his vote that Prakash Raj and Vishnu were like brothers to him. The actor and politician, who had earlier declared his support for Vishnu, said he voted for those who would work better.

Senior actress and former MP Jaya Prada also cast her vote. Mohan Babu said she flew in from Delhi at his request to participate in the voting.

Genelia D’Souza, who had been staying away from Telugu films following her marriage to Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh, also came to Hyderabad to cast her vote. She said MAA will soon have a “super president”.

There was mild tension at the polling booth when the Vishnu panel members alleged that the opposite side was campaigning inside the booth. Shiva Balaji tried to stop a member of the Prakash Raj panel who was allegedly giving away dummy ballots to voters. There was a heated argument between the two groups. Temperatures came down after police intervention.

Mohan Babu also took exception to the Prakash Raj panel campaigning inside the booth. He urged voters to leave in five minutes after exercising their franchise. There was also a heated argument between Shiva Balaji and Hema.

Is TRS involved in “MAA” elections?

0

The elections for Movie Artists Association (MAA) to be held on October 10 in Hyderabad are being fought by Prakash Raj panel and Manchu Vishnu panel as if they are fighting Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Telangana.

In an unprecedented manner, the MAA elections are attracting top headlines in print and electronic media every day.

The Telangana Legislative Assembly session is currently going on since September 24.

Such has been the impact of MAA elections on Telangana politics that there has been a heated debate going on between MLAs in Legislative Assembly lobbies.

Whenever two or more MLAs from various parties such as TRS, Congress, BJP etc are meeting in Assembly lobbies, the issue of MAA elections is coming up.

Opposition Congress and BJP MLAs are saying that the ruling TRS is backing Prakash Raj panel.

They are citing various reasons for this. The first and foremost is that Prakash Raj enjoys very good relations with TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR and his son, IT minister K.T.Rama Rao.

Moreover, Prakash Raj has the backing of “mega family” and since Chiranjeevi and his family are also close to KCR and KTR, the TRS is backing Prakash Raj panel.

They say TRS leadership has no good relations with Manchu family as they are close to “Andhra parties”, YSRCP now and TDP earlier and as such TRS does not want Manchu family to have hold on Telugu film industry, for which Hyderabad is the hub in Telangana known as Tollywood.

Few TRS MLAs close to film industry are already making efforts to convince MAA members to vote for Prakash Raj panel and ensure his victory as MAA president in the interests of MAA and its members in Telangana, especially in Hyderabad.

The ongoing fight between Prakash Raj and Manchu Vishnu reached bigwigs like Chiranjeevi, Murali Mohan, Krishnam Raju and others but they decided to stay tightlipped instead of responding. After Hema released an audio byte, Naresh called the media for a meeting and explained about the controversy. Soon, Megastar Chiranjeevi penned a letter to Rebelstar Krishnam Raju to conduct the MAA Elections at the earliest to prevent the future controversies.

NBK Comments on MAA issue are self contradictory, say netizens

0

Movie artistes Association elections have become even more interesting with sudden entry of star hero Nandamuri Bala Krishna. His comments, as always, drew wide attention from media as well as from film circles. In social media also his comments were widely discussed yesterday. However, netizens say his comments are self contradictory. Details as follows.

Bala Krishna was giving interview to a channel yesterday. As Movie artists Association elections is the hot topic nowadays, reporter asked Bala Krishna to respond on the same in that interview . Bala Krishna started his response with a piece of advice to his fellow artists. He said, movie industry itself is a glamour industry and so we should not expose our internal differences to the media. But in the next minute, he started targeting other artists by questioning them about why can’t they get 1 acre land from Telangana government despite playing doodle doodle to the government. Even though media missed this self contradiction, netizens did not. They Commented on social media that Bala Krishna is asking others not to discuss the differences in front of media but he himself is not following the same.

Another point that drew the ire of netizens is that, he is blaming other artists for not getting land from government while he did not do anything for movie artistes Association building or land when his party was in power. There is another point that netizens are seriously confused about i e. why government has to give land to Movie artistes Association building. Government land is property of people. Movie heroes are earning crores of rupees from remuneration and if all of them contribute a little bit, it is not a big deal for them to buy 1 acre land but Bala Krishna suggesting others to get that labs from government. While Balakrishna also offered to help in constructing the building why can’t he offer help in buying 1 acre of land for the Movie artistes Association building, netizens questioned.

Even though Balakrishna did not reveal whom will he support elections, It is almost clear now that he will be supporting Manchu Vishnu. With this latest developments, it has also become clear that there will be elections this time and the possiblity of electing the panel unanimously is almost ruled out. We need to wait and see how more dramatic this MAA election turn out to be

Megastar’s crucial move for MAA?

1

There is a lot of noise all over as the elections of MAA are nearing. Several panels are formed and there are several celebrities competing for the President’s position. An own building for MAA is under discussion stages but it never happened. The elections are heading and completed for every two years, but there are no major developments about an own building for MAA. The major agenda before the polls is about constructing its own building for MAA.

Tollywood has some of the best actors and those who are charging crores as remuneration but MAA has been waiting for the government to grant land for MAA. Years have passed and new panels took charge, but an own building for MAA did not turn true. As per the update we hear, Megastar Chiranjeevi took the responsibility of MAA building now. Irrespective of the new panel after the elections, Chiranjeevi will overlook the building responsibility of MAA.

Chiranjeevi along with other celebrities is keen to meet Telangana Chief Minister KCR soon to discuss the issue. If the government is not ready to allocate land for MAA, all the celebrities will meet to form a committee and collect funds for the construction of MAA building. Veteran actor Mohan Babu will donate an amount to purchase the land (25 percent) and collecting amount for the rest of 75 percent is not a big deal for MAA. Chiranjeevi is in plans to construct a block completely with his own expenses in the premises.

If all the actors step forward, the construction of MAA building is an easy deal. Chiranjeevi is completely focused on the construction of MAA building for now.

Prakash Raj responds about MAA Elections

1

Veteran actor Prakash Raj announced that he would contest in the MAA Elections for President. Manchu Vishnu, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Hema are the other contestants and the election heat is on even before three months. Prakash Raj interacted with the media today in Filmnagar Cultural Centre, Hyderabad along with his panel. There are speculations that Prakash Raj sought the support of Megastar Chiranjeevi. Responding about this, Prakash Raj questioned why Chiranjeevi’s name was dragged into the issue for a small election that has 800 active members.

He said that the decision was not made recently and he decided to contest in MAA Elections a year ago. “Whoever wins in the elections, we will work together. I have been insulted several times with the remark of non-local. I completed my silver jubilee in Telugu cinema recently. There would no chance for the word non-local in film industry. Me and my panel will not conduct any press meets and will not be active till the elections commence. We are against the debates” told Prakash Raj during his press meet.

MAA elections: The reason behind Hema sudden entry revealed

1

Movie artist Association elections has become a hot topic In Film Nagar. Gone are those days when Movie artist Association used to elect all the members unanimously. Nowadays elections to this association is on par with any political election in terms of campaigning , strategies and verbal attacks. This time there are already four contestants aspiring for the post of President of Movie artistes Association. However there seems to be a specific reason behind Hema, the latest entry into the race, joining the fight.

Versatile artist Prakash Raj was the first one to announce his intention to contest the election this time and he is supposed to have the blessings of megastar family. Actor Manchu Vishnu is the next one to join the fight and he is the main opponent to Prakash Raj. When most of the people thought that the fight will be between these two , actress Jeevitha shocked everyone by announcing her intention to contest. The next day, actress Hema also announced her decision to contest.

As per Film Nagar reports, Hema did not have any plans to contest this time, but some bigwigs asked her to contest , only to nullify the impact of Jeevitha’s entry. Jeevitha certainly has some supporters and she may spoilsport the prospects of main contenders. So, by roping in Hema, who can significantly dent the prospects of Jeevitha, industry bigwigs are trying to nullify the impact of Jeevitha. However, Jeevitha, who is already secretary, is utilising her post to clear dues of the members to win their favour towards her in the upcoming election.

We need to wait and see how many more twists will unravel in due course of time.

MAA Controversy reaches new Heights

0

Like never before, the members of Movie Artist Association (MAA) divided into teams and alleged each other which created huge noise. The Founder President Megastar Chiranjeevi during the dairy launch requested everyone to sit together and solve the issues. Rajasekhar created a ruckus during the event and the consequences made him submit his resignation. It has been a month since the dairy got launched but the dairies were not distributed across the members.

No committee member has been spotted at the MAA office this month and not a single meeting took place after the incident. The office has been left vacant for the past one month. Naresh and Rajasekhar alleged each other and this took the controversy to new heights. Not a single member is ready to sit and resolve the issues. Despite of senior actors like Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu and Krishnam Raju trying hard, there was no possible solution found to date. For the first time, such an atmosphere surrounded MAA. We have to wait to see where this ends.

Chiranjeevi requests disciplinary action against Rajasekhar

0

Movie Artistes Association (MAA) Dairy Launch Event took place in Park Hyatt today. Megastar Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, T Subbirami Reddy, Krishnam Raju and Murali Mohan along with several members of MAA attended the grand event. Speaking at the event, Chiranjeevi expressed his interest in conducting more charity events to help the aged and all those who are in need. He said that he is ready to meet all the young actors to make them active in charity events. Along with this, Chiranjeevi also spoke about the internal issues of MAA.

“I was disturbed with the recent issues in the committee. We never faced such hurdles in the past. I am here to resolve all the issues. Telangana government is ready to allocate land for MAA but the issues kept the plans on hold” said Chiranjeevi. Losing his cool, Rajasekhar started touching the feet of all the guests before starting the speech. Chiranjeevi was left irritated with the behaviour of Rajasekhar.

“I had several problems in my home. I also met with an accident recently. Chiranjeevi garu spoke well about MAA. But there are lot of internal problems in MAA. We are acting in films as heroes, but in real life we could not stand as heroes. MAA is split into two parts with 18 members one side and 8 members on the other side” said Rajasekhar.

Chiranjeevi returned back saying there is no value for his words. Losing his cool, Chiranjeevi said “I wanted all the issues to be sorted through meetings. I am badly disturbed with this. We are here to travel together on a common stand. Media will make this a news. When you are not interested, you should not come to this event. If there is any disciplinary committee, take a strong action against Rajasekhar” said Chiranjeevi.

MAA: Rajasekhar gathering strength against Naresh

0

MAA has just 800 members. The strength of association may be small but internal bickering is huge to ignore. One doesn’t even find such intense politics in parliament or assembly. In the past, Rajasekhar, Naresh and other actors are ganged up on Shivaji Raja to dethrone him as president. Now, Rajasekhar and Naresh are quarreling with each other.

Angry man Rajasekhar has gone a step further. According to industry watchers, he is now asking the members to support him in his revolt against the president Naresh. Rajasekhar’s attempt to hold a general body meeting without the legal permission was banned by Naresh’s gang yesterday. But the row has not ended. Apparently, Rajasekhar is personally calling all the influential members to back him so that he would remove Naresh as president. Having said that it is not that easy to sack Naresh from the post. This move would create ripples in the film industry.

In March this year, Naresh got the support of Rajasekhar and he defeated Shivaji Raja in the elections. Naresh had sworn in as President and Jeevitha Rajasekhar was elected as general secretary and Rajasekhar as executive vice-president.

In the coming days, the internal fight between Naresh and Rajasekhar will take an interesting turn. Keep watching the space.
