Following up on the high-octane launch of the trailer of ‘Major’ last week, lead actor Adivi Sesh hit the campus trail to bond with college students in the city of the Nizams.

Celebrating the love the trailer has received all over the world, Adivi Sesh, who plays the title role, spent time with VJIT students in Hyderabad, making the college campus go crazy. The roaring response of the crowd resonated with the spirit of the movie as depicted in the trailer.

Riding high on emotions, the gripping trailer scales the inspirational journey of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, from his childhood to the tragic 26/11 Mumbai attacks, where he made the supreme sacrifice for the nation at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

His heroic actions saved the lives of more than 100 guests at the hotel.

Celebrating the spirit of the modern national hero beyond his tragic death in the Mumbai attacks, the trailer offers a deeper insight into his relationships with family and most importantly his love for the nation.

Since its launch on May 9, the movie trailer has so far crossed 35 million views across platforms as it speeds towards its theatrical release on June 3.

The bilingual film was shot in both Hindi and Telugu, and will release in Malayalam as well. Telugu actor Adivi Sesh is making his Bollywood debut with the movie ‘Major’. The makers of the movie recently unveiled its trailer. It is based on the life Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and his sacrifice in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Adivi, who is seen as Major Sandeep, is excited with the response he is getting after the launch of the trailer. He says he has put all his effort to do justice to the character he is playing in the film.

Adivi Sesh’s ‘Major’ has been in the making for quite some time now. Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, who has produced this biographical movie, was present at the trailer launch event of the Adivi Sesh-starrer.

Mahesh, who believed that Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s story must be known to the world, stated that the martyr’s story is larger than life.

Mahesh admitted that he received fantastic OTT offers during the Covid period, but was adamant that this film. ‘Major’ needed to be released in theatres only because the action design and emotions were larger than life.

The film’s hero, Sesh, was also very clear that he wanted his Hindi debut to be a pan-India big-screen release, according to the star hero.

Rajnath Singh unveiled the slogan of the film. The words ‘Jaan Doonga Desh Nahi’ in tricoloured font set against a pure white canvas. These words are the fundamental philosophy by which Major Sandeep lived. The slogan highlights his spirit, the emotion by which he saw the world. For him, the country always came first.

During the course of interaction, the Defence Minister appreciated the team for their efforts. He congratulated the director Sashi Kiran Tikka and Adivi Sesh for presenting the story of a brave hero of India. The makers would soon be organising a special screening of the movie for Defence Minister and his family.

“Cinema is truth 24 Frames per second – Jean Luc Godard. #MajorTheFilm. The release will be decided the RIGHT way. For the RIGHT date. Because this isn’t just a movie. It’s my truth. #MAJOR ka promise hai yeh,” Adivi Sesh wrote.

Major is Sesh’s maiden Pan-India film and the makers are very confident about the film’s output. They are confident the movie would make it big across the country if released at the right time. So, they are taking their own time in deciding the release date.

Sesh, who portrays the role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in Mahesh Babu’s ‘Major- The Movie’, has always maintained a close relationship with the martyr’s family.

‘Major’ was supposed to hit the screens earlier, but is now postponed due to the uncertain times of the Covid pandemic.

Actor-director-writer Adivi Sesh, who will be soon seen essaying the role of military hero Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in the upcoming bilingual film ‘Major’, has been working round the clock and recently completed the film’s dubbing.

Double masked and taking all precautions, the actor ensured that he did not come in contact with many people as he did not wish to delay the process of dubbing. He worked through the weekend.

He says, “There were several work commitments and I know the delay that this whole strain puts on the film and cast and crew who have worked so hard. I wanted to ensure that the Hindi dub went smoothly and I am so happy that it all was okay.”

Describing how he managed to dub amidst the rising Covid infections, he says, “We have a standard policy within our team. Mask up and use common sense. I’m very conscious about my parents’ health, so I always make it a point to avoid crowded situations and to stay masked. To avoid parties on New Year’s Eve felt like common sense. To spend it with family and two friends, who are double vaccinated and careful, made sense. And that’s what I did.”

Inspired by true events, ‘Major’ captures the life and times of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, the brave officer who attained martyrdom while saving the lives of numerous hostages in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai on November 26, 2008 during the infamous 26/11 attacks.

Telugu actor Adivi Sesh, who’s playing the 26/11 martyr, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, in Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film ‘Major’, says the braveheart was not just a fighter, but also had an ever-ready sense of humour.

“You remember his heroics, his firm expression as he stood strong even as Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel burned,” Adivi Sesh told IANS in an interview. “While researching my character, I realised he was the first to crack a joke even in the most difficult circumstances. He had an extremely captivating smile.”

As a result, the actor said, “we did not have to deliberately bring laughter into the narrative … it flowed in organically”. The film, he pointed out, is not only about the events of 26/11 and the late National Security Guards (NSG) officer’s role in releasing hostages trapped inside the Taj Mahal Palace, but about Major Unnikrishnan’s life and the warmth of his personality.

The actor, who was raised in the US, said he was there when the tragedy of 26/11 unfolded and he saw it on TV. “When I first saw the picture of Major Sandeep, it struck me hard. I felt an instant connection with the photograph, for he resembled some of my cousins. He and I look similar in many ways.”

Continuing with his narrative, the actor said: “It wasn’t just the case of me learning more about a warrior. It was something else. Something about his photo made me keep thinking about him. Going on, I kind of became an admirer to him, which resulted in creating a path to make a movie on his life.”

The film may centre around the two fateful days in the life of Major Unnikrishnan, which the actor said was the most important chapter of the martyr’s life, but it is not only about him.

“Our intention is to present the events from his point of view, but it was important to find an equilibrium and understand that there were so many people who fought that day, many of whom were also killed,” Sesh pointed out.

On being quizzed about the other movies and documentaries being made on the terror attacks, Sesh said some of them were exaggerated.

“I did watch a couple of documentaries and honestly, I think the event was exploited and exaggerated. I believe that when we make a film on the incident, we must not be exploitative,” Sesh affirmed, adding the film’s tight, well-researched script, and Director Shashi Kiran Tikka’s sharp eye for visuals and performances, will enable the crew to deliver the promise.

For his exemplary bravery, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was awarded the nation’s highest peacetime gallantry award, Ashok Chakra.

A multilingual film scheduled for release in Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi on February 11, 2022, ‘Major’ also stars Saie Manjrekar, Shobhita Dhulipala, Revathi and Prakash Raj.

Actor Adivi Sesh, who is essaying the role of NSG commando and 26/11 martyr, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, wrote an emotional note on his microblogging site, as he wrapped up his shooting part earlier on Saturday.

As the talkie part of “Major” gets wrapped up, the makers are all set to wind up with a pumpkin break.

“My journey being #MajorSandeepUnnikrishnan is almost finished. After this schedule, I shall go back to being his admirer. A fan that understands him better. A fan that tried to find a piece of Major Sandeep within himself. #MajorTheFilm,” Adivi Sesh’s post reads.

Touted to be the portrayal the life of Major Unnikrishnan during India’s most horrific terror attack on 26/11, “Major” is prepping up for its release soon.

Adivi Sesh, who was admitted at the hospital for dengue, had recovered a couple of days ago and returned to his shooting.

Earlier, Salman Khan from Bollywood, Prithviraj from Mollywood, and Mahesh Babu from Tollywood unveiled the Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu teasers, respectively.

“Major” was supposed to hit the screens in July. But the second wave of the pandemic made it impossible for the makers to do so.

Saiee Manjrekar is seen in the female lead opposite Sesh. Actress Revathi, Shobita, and others are seen in pivotal roles in “Major”.

Telugu actor Adivi Sesh kickstarted the final shooting schedule of his biographical drama ‘Major’ here on Thursday. The actor says he is overwhelmed with mixed emotions.

“‘Major’ is my passion project, my journey with the film began years ago when I first witnessed the tragic incident in the news. Now as we are inching closer to wrapping the film, I am overwhelmed with mixed emotions,” says Sesh.

Actress Saiee M. Manjrekar has joined the team for her part as well.

‘Major’ is a biographical drama based on the life of 26/11 martyr Sandeep Unnikrishnan.

Sesh has immense gratitude towards Sandeep’s family for their support.

“I am extremely grateful to the family of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan for deeming me fit to play the role of their brave son and I hope we succeed in paying tribute to the inspirational life of our beloved martyr,” he says.
