Young hero Nikhil Siddhartha’s 20th film Swayambhu to be directed by Bharat Krishnamachari was launched in last month. This Pan India movie is produced by Bhuvan and Sreekar under the banner of Pixel Studios with Tagore Madhu presenting it. This is said to be the biggest budgeted movie of Nikhil’s career.

It is known that Nikhil will be playing a warrior in the movie. The actor is all set to start rigorous training for his character to help me brush up my skills for the camera. He goes all the way to Vietnam where he is trained in horse riding, weapons, and martial arts. The makers appointed well-known stunt masters in Saigon to train Nikhil.

Swayambhu will have a high-quality production where Manoj Paramahamsa will crank the camera and Ravi Basrur helms the music.

Swayambhu will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada languages.

Hero Nikhil’s landmark 20th project Swayambhu under the direction of debutant Bharat Krishnamachari will be made at a Pan level. The first look of the movie was revealed for Nikhil’s birthday and the response for the same was amazing.

The film’s opening ceremony has been held today. As announced by the makers, the movie starts rolling today. They have come up with a brand-new poster to make this announcement. It shows Nikhil as a ferocious warrior on the battlefield. Sporting long hair, he is seen riding a horse with a bow and arrow in his hands. Nikhil stuns with his unbelievable makeover for the character.

Pixel Studios will produce and Tagore Madhu will present this movie which is said to be the most expensive movie in Nikhil’s career, with cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and music from Ravi Basrur.

Nikhil Siddhartha’s Spy released on the 29th of June and ended up as a flop. SPY movie was released in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Nikhil was unhappy with the output even before its release and after the release, film critics and audiences debated about the poor VFX work and the budget restrictions of the film. Nikhil also apologized other language audience for disappointing them.

Nikhil Siddhartha came out with an apology letter. He wrote, I genuinely Thank every one of you for thronging the theatres of SPY and giving me the highest opening of my career at the Box Office, It gives me immense happiness to know the amount of trust you all have in me, However, it pains me to inform you all that the movie DID NOT have a proper multi-language release across India because of contract/content delay issues which also led to 350 Telugu premier shows overseas being cancelled. I apologise to all the Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam audiences for this and promise that after Karthikeya 2 it will be our next upcoming 3 films that will be in theatres in all languages perfectly finished and released on time. I also promise every Telugu movie lovers who trust me that from now We will never compromise on the quality, “Whatever the pressures” and will only make sure a Finished, Checked and Fantastic product is given to you all. Story :

Jay( Nikhil) is a raw agent who is on a mission to checkmate Glodal terrorist Khadir Khan. Jay’s another task is to find who killed his brother, Subhash ( Aryan Rajesh) who died in a five year old mission. Another dimension to the script is a missing file related to Netaji Subhash Chandrabose. Rest of the film is about how Jay is able to resolve all three points.

Analysis :

Spy script is an overambitious one.The team has included all the keywords that are of global scale but the direction is of Ameerpet league. When we need to make a film on international secret services agent, apparently it needs to be on a mega budget and solid casting.Alternative approach is a small scale one with smart writing and engaging direction. Unfortunately, Spy film misses all above checkmarks. Only one thread in this film succeeded partially is when it talks around Netaji Subhash Chandrabose. The controversy surrounding his disappearance, His principles etc episodes play to the galleries well. That is the only saving grace of the film.

Production values are adequate if we measure from a typical Telugu film point of view . But the budget is sub par for the given theme.

The script is so silly that at somepoint, the film shows the proceedings cause China Vs India war. The terrorist Khadir Khan episodes are so monotonous. The second half introduces another villain ( Jisshu sengupta ) but still remains ineffective.Garry Bh direction is not adequate. Cinematography by Mark David is good. Background score by sricharan is okay.

Performances :
Nikhil is fine as RAW agent ‘ Jay ‘. But not as effective as his previous outings. Abhinav Gomatam one liners are fine from comedy angle, but watching him as On field raw agent is a joke on audience. Atleast, his character should have been limited to a backoffice agent. Makarand Deshpande as Raw Chief overacts in many scenes. Jissu Sengupta is just Ok. Iswarya Menon acted as an NIA agent. Nitin Mehta as Khadir Khan is good pick but he could have got more screen presence.

Verdict :

SPY film has big ideas with mediocre execution. The scenes written around Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose are a bit consolation in this template film. The scripts written around International SPY theme demand huge budget , which apparently one cannot match. Overall, SPY film could have been better.

Nikhil’s SPY is scheduled for release on 29 th June ie, tomorrow. The film has been sold for record prices all over for the hero. Theatrical rights of the film are valued at 18 Cr (including Hindi Version). Made in a budget of 20 Cr the producer of the film has made very good profits with 18 Cr coming from theatrical rights , 18 Cr from digital(all versions)/satellite (Telugu). There are still the satellite rights of other languages yet to be sold and they can fetch another 8-10 Cr depending on the films result. Producer of this film has made a minimum 20 Cr profit and now it’s up for the film to do the same for the buyers.

Usually, censor officials recommend cuts if they feel any controversy in a film. Interestingly, zero cuts are recommended for Nikhil’s Spy. In fact, the makers have been telling the same from the beginning that the movie is enlightening and will give more info about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Spy has completed its censor scrutiny and the movie is awarded with U/A certificate. The movie length is 135 minutes and seems like they didn’t include any unnecessary sequence. Producer K Rajashekhar Reddy made the movie in an uncompromised manner. He also provided story for the movie.

The visuals are said to be stunning with some gripping sequences all through. Rana’s presence is a big boon, wherein Abhinav Gomatam provides comic relief.

Young actor Nikhil had a fantabulous 2022. The actor’s last movie Karthikeya 2 is a pan-Indian hit and the actor also hiked his fee. Nikhil’s recent movie 18 Pages received a mixed response from the audience. Impressed with the performance of Nikhil, Mega producer Allu Aravind offered a two-film deal with Nikhil.
