Salman gets bail, Bishnois to approach HC
Superstar Salman Khan was granted bail on Saturday in the 1998 blackbuck case on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh by District and Sessions Court Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi. However, the petitioner, the Bishnoi community, plans to approach the Rajasthan High Court against the verdict.
Arguments were over in the morning but Judge Joshi reserved the order for post-lunch. Salman has to produce a personal bond of Rs 50,000 plus two other bonds of Rs 25,000 each. However, the 52-year-old has to secure special permission from court if he plans to travel outside the country.
Salman’s lawyer Mahesh Bora expressed happiness on the verdict.
The Bishnoi Samaj, which had registered the complaint against Salman for killing the two bluckbucks 20 years back, have said it will approach the High Court against the verdict.
The Bishnois consider the blackbuck to be the reincarnation of their religious Guru Bhagwan Jambeshwar also known as Jambaji.
Salman and other Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam allegedly went hunting on October 1-2 in 1998 outside a forest reserve near Kankani village here while shooting for “Hum Saath Saath Hain”.
While Salman was found guilty, the four co-stars and a local, Dushyant Singh, were acquitted.
Salman sentenced to 5 years, to spend night in jail for killing blackbucks
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was on Thursday sentenced to five years in prison after a court here convicted him for killing two rare blackbucks, putting an end, at least for now, to a legal battle that ran for 20 years.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri, while pronouncing the guilty verdict in the case of killing the protected antelopes, called Salman, 52, a “habitual offender” under the wildlife protection laws of the country.
Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita were present in the court when the judgement was pronounced.
Amid tight security, Salman was taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail where he will spend at least a night in barrack number one. The prison houses rape-accused Asaram Bapu, Bhanwari Devi murder accused Malkhan Singh Vishnoi and Shambhu Lal Regar, arrested for killing a Muslim and blatantly filming the act.
The court also imposed a small fine of Rs 10,000 on one of the biggest Bollywood stars who currently has an upwards of Rs 600 crore worth of unfinished film projects under his belt.
Salman has sought bail but his application will be heard on Friday morning in the Jodhpur sessions court. If the bail does not come through, he will have to stay in jail for at least three more days as the weekend follows.
Prosecution alleged that Salman and other Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam went hunting on the October 1-2 in 1998 outside a forest reserve near Kankani village in Jodhpur while shooting for “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in 1998.
The four co-stars and a local, Dushyant Singh, were all acquitted.
This is the fourth time Salman was sent to Jodhpur jail. Earlier, he spent 18 days in the jail at different times in 1998, 2006 and 2007 — all in poaching cases. Every time, he was released on bail.
Soon after the guilty verdict, members of Bishnoi community, who worship the antelope believing that it is a reincarnation of a 600-year-old guru, celebrated in front of the court.
The Bishnoi community was anguished by the poaching incident and had filed a complaint against the stars, saying they heard gunshots being fired shortly after midnight on October 1, 1998.
This is one of many legal battles Salman has faced in the last 20 years, including allegations of killing a homeless man while driving drunk in Mumbai, a charge he was acquitted of.
He was also booked for keeping a weapon under an expired arms licence. But a trial court had acquitted him.
In other cases, he was accused of killing two protected chinkaras in Bhawad and one in Mathania. However, the Rajasthan High Court acquitted him in 2016.
The film fraternity has its fingers crossed over Friday morning’s court hearing on the actor’s bail plea.
A popular, high net-worth superstar, Salman is either acting in or producing through his family production houses, several major upcoming films with a potential to be blockbusters, Bollywood insiders said.
Currently, there are around half a dozen big-budget films lined up on the floor or at advanced planning stages, including “Race 3”, which is almost complete, “Dabangg 3”, “Partner 2”, “Kick 2′, “Bharat”, “No Entry Mein Entry”, “Sher Khan” and “Loveratri”, said K. Ramji of Krishnamurthy Films.
On TV, he has a comeback season of reality TV show “Dus Ka Dum” and likely a new edition of reality show “Bigg Boss”.
Some of his Bollywood colleagues said they were saddened with the verdict.
“I am feeling bad… The film industry has invested so much on him, they will suffer loss. After 20 years, they are finding him guilty. But law takes its course… What can one say?” actor-politician Jaya Bachchan said.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai said he was “extremely shocked” to hear Salman’s conviction. “Since he is most loved person by industry and people for his human reasons too”, Ghai said, he would get justice in the higher court.
Actor Alok Nath, who played Salman’s on-screen father in “Hum Saath Saath Hain”, told a TV channel that it was “tragic” that such a verdict has come after two decades.
Arjun Rampal said he was feeling “helpless and my heart goes out to Salman Khan and his family”.

Police complaint on Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty
Stars need to be even more cautious nowadays while making any comments on public media. Comments made by Super star Salman Khan and heroine Shilpa Shetty’s comments in another (unrelated) TV show drawn criticism from a community as the comments hurt their feelings and they filed a police complaint on both these actors.
Salman Khan, during the promotions of Tiger Zinda Hai had used the word ‘bhangi’ referring to his dancing style. Salman Khan, while promoting his latest movie Tiger Zinda Hai in a talk show, says he does not do certain dance steps if they “make him look like a bhangi”. On the other hand, Shilpa Shetty during her interaction with in TV , used the word ‘Bhangi’ to describe the way she is dressed at home. Dictionary meaning of the word says -a Hindu sweeper or scavenger being a member of one of the lowest untouchable castes. Bhangi or Mehtar is a derogatory term used to refer to members of the Valmiki caste, a severely disadvantaged group in the Indian caste hierarchy. These actors using the term to describe themselves in unflattering situations is obviously offensive.
The Valmiki Community has filed a case against both the actors for using the word ‘bhangi’ that has hurt people’s sentiments. They have lodged a police complaint against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra and urged strict action against the film stars. A copy of the registered complaint by the Valmiki Samaj Action Committee Delhi has been shared on their Facebook page.
Kona to pen Salman’s next
Kona Venkat to pen Salman’s next
Kona Venkat, the name that needs no introduction to Telugu audience, all set for another bollywood script and it will have none other than the “Tiger” Salman Khan starring in it. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan Salman Khan is working with another Telugu writer. Telugu writer Vijayendra Prasad, father of ‘Bahubalian’ director Raja Mauli, provided script for Bajarangi earlier.
Salman’s “Tiger Zinda Hai” is releasing today and he recently revealed about his future projects. “Sher Khan”, a subject penned by Kona Venkat is also there in his future projects as revealed by him. Actually Salman bought the script long back from Kona Venkat. Sohail Khan, brother of Salman, will direct this film. This is not first time Salman working on Kona Venkat’s scripts. Salman’s “Ready” and “No Entry-2” were also penned by this Telugu writer.
Kona Venkat was in top form in TFI when he was delivering stupendous hits like Dhee, Ready, Dookudu with Srinu Vaitla. But later he developed rift with the director. Kona’s scripts too started failing one after another like Shankarabharanam, Bruce lee etc and TFI got an impression that he lost his Maidas touch. Though he has been penning scripts now in Telugu, he didn’t get another Dookudu range hit in recent times. We have to wait and see if this Telugu writer also brings luck to Salman like Vijayendra prasad and re-establish Salman as “Sher Khan” among other Khans of bollywood.

Salman Khan to Pay 55Cr as Compensation to Distributors of Tubelight
Bollywood box office behemoth Salman Khan has been wreaking havoc at box office every Eid for the past few years with his new films. Taking this into confidence, distributors have bet big on the actor’s this year’s Eid release, ‘Tubelight’. Unfortunately, the film has turned out to be a huge disaster by recovering just 30-40% of the investment.
A kind-hearted Salman Khan, who is also the producer of ‘Tubelight’, has now reportedly agreed to pay Rs 55 crore as compensation for the losses incurred by his film’s distributors. Both a leading national media house and Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan have confirmed the actor’s decision to compensate his distributors.
Tubelight should have done business in the range of Rs 250-270 crore to be called a safe venture but the film is on the brink of ending its theatrical run with dubious collections of Rs 115 crore net approx. at the Indian box office. The film’s performance in overseas is also pretty weak.
Fans generally expect action, songs and punch dialogues from Salman’s films but Tubelight being an emotional drama, that too told in an unconvincing manner, couldn’t strike chord with movie buffs.
The actor will be next seen in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, a highly anticipated sequel to his earlier blockbuster ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Being directed by ‘Sultan’ director Ali Abbas and also starring Katrina Kaif, this action film is slated for release for Christmas this year.
Prabhas and Salman Khan to Star in An Action Film?
If asked to name the biggest reigning action stars of this country, 9 out of 10 people will say Salman Khan and Prabhas. How will it be if this duo teams up for an action-packed film? Won’t Baahubali 2 look small in comparison?
According to a report in DNA After Hrs, successful Bollywood director Rohit Shetty is planning to rope in Salman Khan and Prabhas for an action film. Salman has already expressed his interest in teaming up with Shetty and if the ‘Chennai Express’ director can convince Prabhas, he would embark in the history books just by setting up the biggest combo one can think of.
Salman’s crowd-pulling capacity in Bollywood coupled with Prabhas’ in South India will ensure the film has the maximum scope to shatter box office recorsd in India as well as overseas.
Well, don’t get excited just. Prabhas has already committed for two projects and Salman on the other hand has at least three more films in pipeline. Even if the duo agrees to work together, the project will not materialize for another two years at least.
