Vijay Deverakonda will have one more release before Taxiwaala ?

0

Vijay Devarakonda is riding high on the success of his recent outing Geetha Govindam. Though it was Taxiwaala which has been scheduled for release first, the delay in the post-production work pushed the release date ahead. With Geetha Govindam emerging as a massive hit, all the next films of Vijay Deverakonda are expected to open with a bang. However here comes a shocking news as Vijay Deverakonda will have one more release before Taxiwaala as the film’s release has been pushed once again due to the delay in the VFX work.

With lot of speculations about the film’s content and re-shoots, Taxiwaala lacked buzz. The director Rahul Sankrityan clarified that no re-shoots have been done for the film and it is due to the delay in the VFX work, the film got delayed. In this while, NOTA is all set to take the advantage of Vijay Deverakonda’s winning streat. The film directed by Anand Shankar is gearing up for Christmas release this year in Telugu and Tamil languages.

On the whole NOTA is all set to take the advantage of Geetha Govindam and we have to wait to see if Taxiwaala manages to release right after NOTA before it turns out to be a stale product or if it loses the entire buzz by the time it hits the screens.

Geetha Govindham set launch Vijay into the elite club

0

Overseas collections are considered as one of the effective parameters to gauge the box office potential of our heroes because the market for Telugu films has flourished by leaps of bounds there. Going by the trend in the last couple of years, hitting one million mark has become a cake walk for our heroes.

As per the latest trend, $ 2 M mark has been set as the new benchmark to judge the stamina of our films. Only stars heroes like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan have films in the prestigious $ 2 M club. Medium range heroes like Nithiin and Varun have a film each in the elite club.

Now, young sensation Vijay Devarakonda is all set to join the big names with his latest film Geetha Govindham which is enroute hitting the $ 2 Million club very soon. The film has already emerged as Vijay’s highest grossing film in overseas after having a solid Tuesday. With close to $ 1.8 M by the end of Wednesday, the film is heading towards touching the $ 2 Million mark in this weekend.

Vijay Devarakonda’s Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy fared pretty well and created a huge fan base for him among overseas audience. With Geetha Govindham, he has turned out to be a reliable actor for trade circles there. The film is likely to topple the career highest of actors like Pawan Kalyan and NTR in its full run.

Bigg boss tidbits: Vijay Devarakonda and Nani made the show a fun ride

0

Vijay Devarakonda , who is on cloud nine after stupendous success of Geetha Govindam, joined the Bigg boss house today along with his director Parasuram. As long as Vijay was in the house, the show was a roller coaster ride with lots of fun. Both Nani and Vijay played an interesting task with Deepthi Sunaina that was highly entertaining.

Nani told Vijay that Deepthi Sunaina is a great fan of him. So they called her into confession room and gave her a secret task. They gave her a blue-tooth device and she was in call with Nani and Vijay continuously and followed their instructions which are mostly funny tasks. Later, they played Geeta Govindam song and all housemates danced for the song. Vijay D highly appreciated Ganesh’s performance in the dance.

Both Nani and Vijay worked together in Yevade Subramanyam earlier. Both have very great timing and their sense of humor made the show highly enjoyable. Finally, as expected, Deepthi Sunaina got evicted from the house. As usual, evicted candidate has to throw Big bomb on one of the housemates. Sunaina thrown big bomb on Tanish and so he has to jump into swimming pool every day morning when song starts.

Geetha Govindam – Fun ride with a scintillating lead pair

Geetha Govindam Review

Telugu360 Rating 3.25/5

Story:

Geetha Govindam story revolves around a girl who misjudges a well-mannered boy who likes her. Vijay Govind (Vijay Deverakonda), a lecturer by profession, is a bachelor who dreams about a wife with a high degree of values and manners. He falls in love with Geetha (Rashmika)- a manager at TCS, but she mistakenly judges him as a rogue. After a common bus journey to their native area Kakinada, they found to be relatives. Seeking revenge about an incident that occurs in the bus, she calls her brother (Subbaraju) and reports the incident. Since then her brother, his police friends search for the culprit. Geetha who knows the culprit doesn’t reveal the identity and rest of the story is all about how things move forward between the two families of Geetha, Govindam.

Performances:

Vijay Deverakonda who acquired angry young man image with ‘Arjun Reddy’ does a complete contrary role in this film. Vijay Govind role is an innocent, and take it easy attitude one. Deverakonda must be appreciated for agreeing to do this role which pleads the heroine through out the film. This character doesn’t even hesitate to touch the feet of Brother-in-law. Kannada beauty Rashmika Mandanna fits the role and acted adequate. Her chemistry with Deverakonda is partially good which dilutes in climax with flip flops.

Nagendrababu as Vijay’s father has very limited role. Somebody else dubbed his voice it appears. Subbaraju as Geetha’s brother plays a lengthy role but his characterization is not appealing. He projected as if the villain of the film, but turns good guy. Vennela Kishore, Annapurnamma plays comedy roles in couple of climax scenes. Arjun Reddy fame Rahul Ramakrishna got a decent comedy role again as hero’s side kick

Analysis:

Movie starts off with a standard comedy, in which hero’s friend directs him over the phone on how to deal with a girl whom he is aiming. Story wise main plot is decent initially while hero talks high about how a wife should be etc. scenes. But a trivial conflict point in bus has been exaggerated till the end of the film. Subbaraju’s search for the guy who misbehaved with his sister, as serious as a murder revenge, is in-convincing. Even keeping aside his marriage next week, he travels between Kakinada and Hyderabad to take the revenge. In current whataspp age, any person doesn’t even the face of own brother in law is rather silly.

Keeping script weaknesses aside, overall first half has youth appealing comedy throughout. Vijay Deverakonda comedy timing is quite a revelation. He carried the entire show single handedly with ease in acting. Rahul Ramakrishna scenes comedy came out well.

Second half continues with the same redundant conflict point with exception being comedy thread by Vennela Kishore and Annapurnamma in climax. After Geetha realizes her mistake, starts loving Govindam but this time he backs off. After some flip flops movie ends on Happy Note and predictably.

Superhit audio songs are not so appealing in terms of on-screen picturization. ‘America girl aina… Athili girl aina’ is adequate. Most popular ‘Inkem Inkem kaavalE …’ could have been better. It was used as just a montage song. Production values by Geetha Arts-2 are moderate, definitely could have been better given Vijay’s higher market potential. Director parasuram handled the comedy department with ease, wrote Vijay’s character well but hasn’t shown the spark in the rest of the direction

Positives:

  • Vijay Deverakonda’s screen presence
  • Comedy worked in most of the parts
  • Lighter-vein approach narration through out

Negatives:

  • Weak story/Plot
  • Poor conflict, predictable resolution
  • Songs could have been better

Verdict:

Geetha Govindam has a trite storyline, but the director keeps you engaged with lovable scenes between the lead pair and good comedy, especially during the latter part of second half. Vijay Deverakonda’s characterization and youthful comedy elements are the USP of this film.

Mellowed Musings- Geetha Govindam Audio Review

Geetha Govindam audio review

Geetha Govindam is an upcoming romantic entertainer starring Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devaraonda and Rashmika Mandana in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Gopi Sundar- who has given some really brilliant melodies earlier.

The album begins with Inkem Inkem composed in the beautiful classical raagas Shankarabharanam but also has shades of Ananda Bhairavi in the middle. Sid Sriram the power packed singer goes out of his comfort zone of Jazz singing and excels in Indian melody. The steady rhythm is effectively balanced with timely chord progression changes. Ananth Sriram’s wonderful lyrics and the motif line “talavani talapulu Yedalani Kalupaga” is quite tantalizing to hear. The sitar solo in the second interlude is the biggest higlight of the composition. The phrase “maatalaki karagani maguva” describes a strong willed woman in great poetic manner.

Yenti Yenti is a trance solo by Chinmayi who sings amazingly about searching happiness in life. Sri Mani’s lyrics “Angulam nadavakunda payaname chedu pommannana” is something rare to hear in today’s Telugu film music. It is indeed a welcome change to hear melodies of this sort which bring out the yesteryear beauty of Telugu language to the current generation of listeners. It would be amazing to know that the first three notes of Mohana raagam were only used until half of the song’s progress.

Sid Sriram arrives again with another number Vacchindamma composed in Carnatic raaga Hamsadhwani with modern styling. Usage of ghatam is quite effectively done with blend of electric guitar. Sri Mani uses the phrases matti bomma to describe a goddess and it does the magic. The song beautifully describes Batukamma in folk style which also goes to a new level with the usage of nadaswaram.

Vijay Devarakonda himself sings an already popular number which interestingly begins with the song portion from Swathi Mutyam’s Chinnari Ponnari Kittayya. The song has great resemblance with Why This Kolaveri Di in terms of lyrics and also the rhythm section. It would definitely appeal to the youngsters for its catchiness and foot tapping rhythm.

The finale ends on a classy note with an estrangement song Kanureppala Kaalam sung by the composer Gopi Sundar himself with breezy outtakes. Sagar’s lyrics are emotionally appealing and the bass guitar does the job quite effectively in the midst of piano touches. The first charanam lines “Kavi Yevaro Ee Kathaki.. Teliyadu gaa appatiki” explains the deep melancholic state of the character.

Verdict:

Geetha Govindam is an undisputable winner once again for Gopi Sundar. He has emerged to be one of the best melodious composers in town!

Our Picks: Inkem Inkem, Yenti Yenti, Vacchindamma

Vijay Deverakonda’s unique offer for audience

0

Vijay Deverakonda’s candid and self-deprecating speech during the audio event of Geetha Govindham on trolls for his song ‘What the F’ received huge appreciation.

Vijay openly admitted that his singing has been trolled and the lyrics have been criticized by one and all. In a surprise move, Vijay announced that he is giving an open offer to audience. He requested audience to sing for this song and send it to his team for audition. He promised to replace his vocals with that voice which is selected by his team.

Vijay has now posted the new lyrics of the song along with the Karaoke version and asked audience to send their versions. The winner will also bag an iPhone mobile as a bonus for his impressive vocals.

This is definitely a unique way to launch a new singer.

Geetha Govindham is slated for release in August.

Geetha Govindam makers in Damage Control Mode

Vijay Devarakonda’s next romantic outing Geetha Govindam has been hot in trade and is carrying massive expectations. The first single was a smashing hit and it clocked 1 crore views in no time which is a record. The teaser has been widely accepted by the audience and it kept the expectations high on the film. When things are going extremely favourable for the film, the makers released the second single which created a bunch of controversies.

The lyrics did not go well with a section of people after which the makers removed the single from Youtube. Now the makers clarified that they are making enough changes for the lyrics and the song will be uploaded back after making enough changes. Writer Sree Mani is penning the lyrics and Vijay Devarakonda will croon the song again. Geetha Govindam directed by Parasuram will hit the screens on August 15th. Rashmika Mandanna is the heroine and GA2 Arts are the producers.

Classy Overtones- Inkem Inkem Single from Geetha Govindam

0

The energetic hero Vijay Devarakonda has turned a sensation with Arjun Reddy as the angry young man but now turned the 80s lover boy in Mahanti. Now, the actor will be seen in Geetha Govindam opposite Rashmika. The song Inkem Inkem unleashes the star in quite a classy avatar and composed in the raaga Reetigowla.

Interestingly, the chord progression also touches Ananda Bhairavi and Kaapi raagas which is quite a feat. Gopi Sundar proves once again why he is the master of melodious songs in Telugu currently. The Jazzy singer Sid Sriram does a fantastic job with his wide range of vocals and Ananth Sriram’s lyrics is another added attraction.

All in all, Vijay Devarakonda is sure to win more hearts with his classy makeover this time!

Indraganti considered Vijay Deverakonda and Nani for ‘Sammohanam’ initially

0

Filmmaker Indraganti Mohana Krishna, who is awaiting the release of ‘Sammohanam’, says actor Sudheer Babu wasn’t the initial choice for the romantic drama. The actor plays a children’s book illustrator in the film which will open in cinemas next Friday. “I thought of Vijay Deverakonda for the project to begin with, but after ‘Arjun Reddy’ released, he got into a different league altogether. I considered Nani too for a while but felt he was too popular for the part. I didn’t want a star to be paired alongside another star (Aditi Rao Hydari). So I started looking for other options which is when I saw ‘Samanthakamani’. I liked Sudheer’s performance in a sequence where he speaks of his mother. Add to that, for his personality he has a soft voice, which is what my part required. I approached him pronto and he agreed. Luckily, he lost a few kilos by then,” Indraganti said speaking to telugu360.com.

He further added that Sudheer made a great pair with Aditi Rao, who is making her Telugu debut with the film. “There are a couple of scenes—one before the intermission and one on a terrace—which will stand out. I can boldly say Telugu cinema hasn’t witnessed such scenes till now. I may sound arrogant but it’s true,” he added.

Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘cool chick’ comment was meant in ‘harmless’ way

1

When “Arjun Reddy” actor Vijay Deverakonda tweeted about the legendary Tamil actress Savitri being a “cool chick”, he hadnt expected a backlash. While he remains unfazed, he says he had meant it in the most harmless way.

Savitri’s fans took umbrage and slammed Vijay.

The actor justified: “I meant she was a super cool girl who did as she willed. Apparently, she had the largest vintage car collection. I found that very fascinating about her. At a time where most women didn’t work, she was acting, directing, singing, producing, having the largest car collection.”

But the southern movie-goers are known to be heavily into hero-worship… or heroine-worship. Vijay will have none of that.

“I don’t worship people like gods or goddesses. I don’t pretend to. I see her (Savitri) as a young girl, a woman, a superstar. We are all human, have our attributes and weaknesses. She had hers.”

Vijay was rather taken aback by the vehemence of the attack.

“It was a bit surprising because a lot of it comes from ignorance. Some of them have the right intentions. But it’s misplaced. And the issue, whoever had it, had it with my choice of word (chick). But I think it’s never about the word but your understanding of it. Mard in India means ‘man’, something you are proud of. Merde – pronounced similarly — in French means ‘shit’. So I meant it in the coolest, most harmless way.”

Vijay is not going to apologise for his remark.

“If someone’s understanding of it is so crude, then it’s none of my problem. As I understand it, people have opinions, people have intentions. I let it be for the most part. But I don’t like being told how I should say stuff, how I should do stuff. You pass your opinions on me. I am fully okay with that. But don’t dictate to me what I should or shouldn’t do.”

Vijay himself features in “Mahanati”, Savitri’s biopic, directed by Nag Ashwin. The film, releasing on May 9, features Keerthy Suresh as Savitri, Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan, and an ensemble cast comprising Samantha Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya.

Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Cool Chick’ comment didn’t go well

9

Young actor Vijay Deverakonda is essaying a crucial role in upcoming film Mahanati, a biopic on yesteryear actor Savitri which has Keerthi Suresh in the lead role.

Yesterday, the Arjun Reddy actor posted a trivia of Savitri in his Twitter handle and commented ‘What a Cool Chick’ #Mahanati. The ‘Cool Chick’ comment seems have not gone well with some of his followers who slammed him for quoting the famous actor with a slightly offensive word.

While a few opined that ‘Chick’ is not a derogatory word, some felt that is not definitely the right term to use for an iconic person.

Responding on the comments, Vijay Deverakonda replied to followers in his style.

He tweeted ‘ All who want an apology – chennai Leela Palace lo unna ocheyandi. I will even be giving you #Mahanati audio launch entries. She would have been happy to have you all back then – because appudu me lanti morals and ethics batch called her a home breaker and alcoholic,

‘she was many things fearless, philanthropic, generous, but at her core she was like anyone else a girl with dreams first, a woman who loved & wanted to be loved next and a superstar last. #MahanatiOnMay9th ‘, posted Vijay.

Ye Mantram Vesave Review – Fails to clear backlog

0

ye mantram vesave Review

Telugu360 Rating : 1.5/5

Story:

Ragamalika aka Rags (Shivani Singh) is a video game designer who wants to try differently than the violent gaming world. Often discouraged by the management she is still aspired to comeup with a novel game concept with realistic city hunt approach.

Nikhil aka Nikky (Vijay Deverakonda) is a gamefreak and online flirt who spends months of time marathon gaming or in scouting chatrooms for girls. After betting with friends, Nikky’s aim is to drag Rags to love. Rags being a game designer, plays a treasure hunt like love challenge with Nikky. His first level of game is to identify her by the evening, there is a villains group to lure innocent girls online, in the name of love, eventually to auction them to foreigners. This group gate crashes into Nikky – Rags love game and rest of the story is how things unfold between these three.

Performances: Talented young actor Vijay is good in his looks but has limited scope for performance. His characterization will be a disappointment for his fans. Debutante shivani singh is adequate fit for the urbane characterization but beautywise doesn’t have appealing features. Due to very low budget, rest of the casting is sub par, not even of tele serial quality.

Analysis:

Intention of the film ‘ye mantram vesave’ is good; story line is different than run-of-the-mill ones but execution is terribly poor. Initial part of the film is filled with scenes on youth who obsessed with video chat, flirt etc social media things. Gradually film shifts focus on to gaming world and brings in treasure hunt concept laced to the love track between the lead couple. Then another thread, darkside of the social media has been projected and has been used to convey some message towards the end.

The twist in the climax which is supposed to justify the whole film is not convincing. If this story had an appropriate budget, professional director and technicians, it would have been surely considered as an appreciable attempt. But the amateurish direction which is sub par to even youtube short film making skill is the main drawback, followed by very poor production values. Never in its 122 minutes duration, you can enjoy the cinematic experience. There are three songs merged into story flow, won’t stand out much. Title ‘Ye mantram vesave ‘is a clickbait one with no relevance to the storyline. By looking at the title, if any one expects any regular love story elements, they’ll be up for big disappointment.

Positives:

  • Contemporary, different story

Negatives:

  • Weak heroine , poor casting
  • Poor direction
  • Cheap production values
  • Poor script
  • No commercial elements

Verdict:
‘Ye Mantram Vesave ‘is hardly an youtube shortfilm in terms of quality. Though the intended message about social media addiction is appropriate, rest of the film has no cinematic value at all. This backlog film of Vijay Deverekonda, as expected, is a huge disappointment and a speed breaker film in his career.

‘Arjun Reddy’ exhausted hell out of me: Vijay Deverakonda

0

Actor Vijay Deverakonda says that working on “Arjun Reddy” sapped him.

Excerpts from IANS interview:

Q. How do you look back on the “Arjun Reddy” experience?

It sapped me. Exhausted the hell out of me. I had to be constantly probing into the darkest areas of my consciousness, digging out feelings and tapping into emotions I had never touched in myself. You see, when it comes to probing and showing my feelings, I am a shirker.

Q. What do you mean?

I can’t show let alone share my emotions. In fact I’ve kept it all locked up within myself all my life. Yeah, it’s a problem, specially when it comes to relationships with the people close to me.

Q. I remember you telling me it was causing a problem with your girlfriend?

It’s always been a problem. That’s why “Arjun Reddy” was very hard for me. The character is constantly diving into grey and dark areas of his subconscious. Left to myself I won’t even go there.

Q. Did you expect “Arjun Reddy” to make such an impact?

We knew we were doing something never done before, at least not in Telugu cinema. We were sure we’d make some kind of an impact. It went much further than we expected. But now I’m done with “Arjun Reddy”. My next film in Telugu in “Taxiwala”. It’s a supernatural thriller, a world as far removed from “Arjun Reddy” as possible. I play a cabbie.

Q. And in the the biopic on actress Savithri you play MGR?

You mean “Mahanti” in Tamil? Yes, I am doing that film. In fact I’ve just started shooting for it. But I am not playing MGR. I sometimes hear I am playing MGR, sometimes NTR. I am playing neither. I am actually playing a journalist. Both Samantha Ruth Prabhu and I play journalists who set out to piece together the story of Savithri’s life.

Q. Like Orson Welles in Citizen Kane?

Yeah, kind of. Do you know, I’ve hardly watched the classics? I spent half my life in a boarding school where we were shown only the sporadic wholesome classic like “The Sound Of Music”. So I am not familiar with most of the works of the acting greats in Bollywood, Hollywood or Tamil-Telugu cinema. We were shown sanitized films where even a brush on the lips was cut.

Q. So where did all that horniness in “Arjun Reddy” emerge from?

(Laughs) I don’t know. Probably it was suppressed inside me. All of it came bubbling to the surface in “Arjun Reddy”. Yeah, this guy believed in pre-marital sex and was very physically sexually active. But in my next film which I start shooting in February I play a virgin.

Q. You have to be kidding?

No, seriously. The guy I am playing in my next is a sweet wholesome lovable family man who wouldn’t dream of asking his girlfriend for a kiss let alone sex. This is my homage to the archetypal angel-hero that Salman Khan plays in Sooraj Barjatya’s film.

Q. Do you find it challenging to play a sweet-natured character?

It’s a big challenge. I am done with sweetness and virginity with this film. The three films after this would all have me playing dark disturbed characters. Exploring the dark side of my characters’ personality is my forte.

Q. Are you looking at doing a sequel to “Arjun Reddy”?

My director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and I discussed it even while we were filming “Arjun Reddy”. There is so much to this character that remains unexplored. We will return to Arjun at some point, though not right away. For now I’m just happy with the impact this film and my character has made. I’ve just received my first Best Actor award from Zee Telugu. And that too from the legendary Chiranjeevi Sir.

Q. What next?

Well, now I leave for a two-week European holiday to Spain and Belgium. I think I’ve earned myself this break. I come back after the New Year to complete my work in Mahanati.

Q. Will the high expectations you have generated with “Arjun Reddy” come in the way of audiences appreciating you in your forthcoming films?

I am happy with my role in “Taxiwala”. It gave me a chance to do a character that was fun. I didn’t have to agonize over every scene. As for “Mahanati” it’s a relatively small role in a film that pays a homage to one of Tamil cinema’s greatest actresses. Sometimes it is liberating for an actor to just be a part of film where he doesn’t have to shoulder all the responsibility.
